To start off these headphones are amazing. They are extremely comfortable and they sound amazing with 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound. The noise-cancelling microphone sounds very well when background noise is imminent. These headphones in my opinion are a 9 out of 10. Only a few things I personally don't like but that's because I'm very picky.

When I purchased this headset I was a bit skeptical of how comfortable it would be. Needless to say, I'm very glad I bought it. At the time I purchased it, I got it for a steal, and I mean like 50$ less then all the other $69.99+ gaming headsets available. The most important factor for me was how comfortable the headphones would feel on my head; in the past I've had problems with pretty much every single headset I've owned not being comfortable, I was pleasantly surprised when I placed the phones on my head for the first time. The ear cups don't actually touch your ears, they fit completely around the outside of them, and luckily my ears are small enough that they don't touch the inside plastic of the earphone cups, so they're definitely the most comfortable phones I've owned to date. The amount of pressure applied to the sides of your head can get a little irritating after several hours of use, but I've found it to not really be an issue.The sound reproduction is pretty good, and I was amazed when I tried them on for the first time and played some dubstep through them. The bass was bumping, and although the highs and mids were a bit tinny, the lows were right on point.For the price I paid for these, I would recommend this headset to ANYBODY who asked me about my cheapest\best pc headset opinion.Con - The Y split at the end of the cable where you plug the mic and speaker jacks into their respective line in's don't allow you to separate the mic and speaker wires. This isn't an issue for most people, but for me, my headphones jack is located on my PC speakers receiver (logitech z-5500) and the mic jack is located on the back of my pc case. This means every time I want to use my headset I have to unplug my Z-5500 speakers from the back of my computer and place my headphone jack into the green port, and the mic jack into the pink port. ITS A HASSLE.This isn't really Plantronics fault though, Logitech should have not went lazy on the receiver design, and added a mic throughput to the receiver so I wouldn't have to make that stretch. If keyboards nowadays do it, you would think a set of 400$ computer speakers with an LCD receiver, would come with standard features like that.

This headset has very good audio quality and it feels nice on the head. The phones fit around my ears, meaning there is no uncomfortable pressure directly on the ears themselves (I tend to be sensitive to that). My ears do get slightly warm during long periods of wear, but not uncomfortably warm and nowhere near the heat levels I've experienced with other products.The mic boom is on the left side of the headset. It is not reversible. (This was not a problem for me.) The mike boom pivots down from the left earphone and extends inward-outward in a telescoping fashion. This allows the boom to be pivoted up and clipped into the edge of the head band when not in use.The microphone quality is poor. I needed to crank up the mic input gain on my computer in order for the audio level to be usable. Unfortunately, doing this also cranks up background noise. With the microphone boom fully extended it barely reached the near corner of my mouth. If I removed the headset from my head and held the microphone directly in front of my mouth, the mic audio level was better and required less gain. (Perhaps they should have made the boom longer?)With the aforementioned required high mic input gain it also didn't do well in the "noise-canceling" category. I set up a test with a second person standing eight feet away from me to my rear-left corner. While I talked into the microphone this person also talked at a room-level voice. The voice of this second person was picked up and could be heard clear-as-day (albeit quieter than my voice) on the input audio.Overall, this is an average device with above-average feel but below-average microphone quality. Avoid this item if you need high-quality input audio from the microphone or if you'll be using it in an atmosphere with background noise.

I bought this headset around December 2009, and have been using it ever since (currently May 27th, 2011). I have used these headphones daily, and for hours on end each day. I have used this headset for many instances of music, gaming, and video/voice chat programs.The headset is relatively comfortable, at first it seemed to be a tight fit on my head (albeit I have a pretty big head), but after a week or so, it got looser and fit my head better. That being said, the headset actually broke around August 2010, but I fixed it with super glue and duct tape. Ever since then, it's been perfectly fine and working as new. The ear cups are pretty big, though that's not much of a complaint, as it'll likely fit anyone's ears.The sound that comes from this headset is actually an above average quality, especially the bass. For a cheap headset, I was expecting much worse bass quality. It doesn't do much for sound-cancelling on its own, but with sounds being played, there isn't much that you can hear going on outside. At max volume, the headset is even useful to be used as speakers in a relatively quiet area.I've used the headset on Skype, Ventrilo (for WoW), and a few other voice chat programs. I've not had any complaints about poor microphone quality, and have actually heard myself on another computer through Ventrilo, and must say that it sounded as much like me as other recordings of me have sounded. So again, it is above average in that aspect.The headset comes with a volume control and mute switch on the cord about 2 feet away from the headset. This makes controlling the volume very simple, rather than having to use the system volume controls, if you're using a laptop. The mute switch is also very handy, so that you do not have to mute your microphone within the specific voice chat program.Overall, for a headset that is less than $50 (I bought it for about $40, it's gotten cheaper since then), this headset is definitely worth it, it lasted about 9 months before it broke, but the break was a simple fix due to the way the headset is made. Having a headset last (so far) over a year and a half at this price is definitely worth buying.

These are excellent headphones not only for gaming, but they are readily adaptable for music or video. Sure their no Bose headphones ,but then again they don't have a Bose price tag either, but have very nice quality in the sound reproduction aspect.I like the way they are built, with a solid cord and all the electronics are in the headphones. Amazing for the price.They are comfortable to wear for lengthy periods as well. The software that comes with them works easily with windows andsets up in just a minute and badda bing badda bah, Your good to go.

This headset is the most comfortable headset ever, I have huge ears and I rarely feel pain, other than after like 12 hours of constant gaming the outside rim of my ears are a bit sore. I never have worn headsets before and that might be why it hurts. The microphone quality is absolutely amazing, no background sound AT ALL. The sound quality is also amazing. If you are getting a headset I recommend this 100%!

Let me preface this with the fact that I have been using Plantronics gaming headsets of almost 10 years now. I just picked up the Gamecom 780 to replace my Gamecom 777 headset.Pros:The headset overall appears to be more durable. I had to superglue the 777s back together on more than one occasion.Extremely comfortableSound quality is outstandingSoftware was extremely easy to installI was up and running in less than 5 minutes (system reboot after software install)I love the sound quality. When speaking with my fellow gamers online it sounds like I am in the same room with them. Music is a joy to listen to with this headset as well.Cons:The chord is too short. It is a 6 foot cable, but 8 would have been better. I will probably end up trying a USB extension cable.The chord does not appear as durable as on the Gamecom 777, though it is very rigid.The volume control and mic mute being on the ear cup is a little awkward.A very small thing, but the ear cups are not labeled left or right.

These headphones are absolutely amazing, I seriously feel like crying right now they are perfect! My Logitech headset broke, I work from home and needed a replacement, I received this is less then 24 hours! For 10 dollars more (excluding the cost to have it rush shipped) I bought these and they are seriously amazing, I can't even use my regular speakers now. Plantronics you have done it again! Bravo!The only negative thing I have to say is the mute button is going to have to take a lot of getting used to, if you call your cable company and are getting cursed at on the other end that is probably me... ha!Buy these and then listen to the song preliator by globus I'm having an eargasm right now! AHH!! PERFECTION!

Since this is called a gaming headset, I thought it would work as a headset for an Xbox 360. Christmas morning, I found out I was wrong. I contacted the company and told them the problem, and they said they would allow a return. I followed their directions and sent it back promptly, but didn't hear a word back. I finally contacted them nearly 2 weeks after the date they signed for the item and was told that I would have to wait a full 14 days to get any information. Then suddenly the box was returned to me with no email or note inside--absolutely no explanation. I sent it back again with the return information, including their return confirmation number, and once again got the box returned to me with no explanation. The bottom line is that the headphones may be fine for computer gaming, but I can't use them, and this company gave me the runaround for over two months, never returning my money. Be sure what you purchase from them is really what you want since you'll be stuck with it, apparently, even if they say they'll allow a return. I don't know what to do with the headphones; maybe I can make a very weird planter or something. :(

Pros:Audio is decent, loud and clear. Mids and highs are good, while bass is not bad if a little neutral.Cons:-Construction is a little cheap in places particularly mute switch and volume control on headset.-The volume control on the headset does not allow for fine tuning your audio. I would often find sound to loud or too low turning the control and would have to instead use the sound settings in whatever application I was in to adjust the volume. This was not convenient.-Very uncomfortable. I don't have a large head and I would say I have medium ears. Small ears will fit in the cups, large ears will find the cups sitting on them, medium will have 1/2 of the ear in and other half out. There is also quite a bit of pressure on jaw line right below ear. It was uncomfortable to wear for more than an hour.I have WinXP, Win7, and MacOSX but only tested in XP as comfort was deciding factor in returning it.

After using at least 6 different headphone sets with and without microphones , this one has the best microphone response and quality of sound . My gamer guildmates say they can hear me better and Ive noticed a real difference in the way they sound to me when listening to them through these headphones. Netflix movies also have a much better sound . the volume control is easy to use without fumbling around for an in-line contoller on the wire . I highly recommend this unit .

I am just returning to PC Gaming, and before I bought this headset, I was using a cheap $7 headset. I honestly can't believe on what I was missing out on.. I won't go into a huge review of every detail, but I would like to say the following:* Headset is light, yet feels durable and well-made. After a while I forget they are even on.* Fit well, does not hurt my ears.* Sound FANTASTIC.* Controls are on the left can, and easy to reach.* Setup was easy. You need to install the enclosed software to enable Dolby, though.* Friends said that I sounded clear and much better over the mic.

These headphones have OK audio quality for an inexpensive headset and they fit snugly over the ears to effectively reduce outside noise made by the loud-mouthed idiots with whom you might be unfortunate enough to work or live. The only disadvantage is that the snug fit of the soft plastic cushions, while very comfortable, also seals in the moisture from the humidity in your ear canals. My ears are quite sweaty when I wear this headset for more than 15 minutes. On the other hand, open-air headphones would let in the noises made by you-know-who.

Let me first state that these type (7.1 surround sound) headphones normally go for $250+ but I got these for $60. That alone is reason enough to buy! But the difference it makes in gaming (CoD) is indescribable. Never again will I be snuck up on! When I first put the headphones on I literally turned around to see why the game was coming from behind me. The surround sound is that good. Great buy 5/5

Picked these up for gaming and a online spanish class.Cons:Okay sound quality i compare this to a pare of HiFiMan-400 and SkullCandy SK ProPros:You notice a difference with 7.1 off then on, much better onMicrophone has amazing background noise cancellation, had a stand fan 5 feet away when recording spanish and no artifacts were their during play back. Gaming is also great my friend like it so much when he treid them out he bought his own pair.

I previously owned a pair of Gamecom Pro 1 by Plantronics and after a few years they finally broke down.Was going to buy a Logitech but then I saw these for a lot less and decided to go for it. These are way better than my previous set and cheaper than what I paid for those. Haven't used the mic yet, but the sound is amazing.I noticed after about 3 hours my ears hurt a little but honestly I have had these about a week and they are still being broken in. Definitely will recommend these to anyone who is looking for a good headset.

gaming headsets can be pretty expensive. this headset has a microphone and 7.1 surround sound with great quality. that's all you really need for gaming, no?it seems pretty hard to break, as well. i haven't exactly tried but the architecture appears pretty sturdy.

This headset is advertised as a gaming headset, and I have taken that into account during this review. The best parts about the headset are the comfortability and the amazing ability to put the sounds where they appear to be coming from on the screen. The microphone works fine, never get a complaint about the clarity from others. They aren't noise cancelling, they don't do a great job of keeping outside noise out, but thats not a huge deal for me. They are a bit bulky, but they are still rather comfortable, and can be kept on for long periods of time without creating pressure. The sounds they produce are very clear and crisp, however there is not much bass to them. The headset comes with it's own volume adjustment attached along the cord, it works well. The cord itself to the headphones and it's connections to the components appear very sturdy, the are reinforced with extra material near it's connections, which give me peace of mind that they aren't just going to start malfunctioning because of a little wear and tear. This is my first over ear gaming headphones, so I don't have much to compare these against, but I'm very satisfied with the purchase so far. If a malfunction arrises, I'll update.

I have gone through several different headphones lately and these are my favorite so far. Simply enough, the sound quality is great, the surround sound works perfectly, and after about the first week or two of wearing them they break in rather well and fit quite comfortably. My suggestion is they do sit a little tight at first (or at least they did on me), don't give up on them right away because of this. after the first week or two of wearing them they fit quite comfortably.
