Just got a pair of these for my brother and we both agree that they are comfortable and sound pretty good. You don't get Bose quality sound but you're not paying 200 dollars for them so what do you expect.A cool setup we figured out: If you use your 360 with your computer monitor buy a 3/32 audio adapter so you can hook the mic into the controller, route your xbox through your computers line in and hook your head phones in through the headphone jack on the computer. You can not only use your mic and headset but you can also listen to music or a movie off the computer (if you have two screens). It's pretty great. Just make sure in the xbox menu you route voice through the speakers so you can hear it.Highly recommended.

I purchased this headset about 6 months ago, and was never happy with the way they fit. While the earcups are soft and comfortable, they tend to push harder on the lower portion of the cup which results in a headache after an hour of play. If you spend the time adjusting them to the point that they don't push on the bottom portion, then the top is too tight.After only 6 months they broke at the adjusting point on the left side. No warning, just went to put in on my head and before I got it over my ears the left side completely snapped off. Poor quality.Mic works fine, sound quality is good (not great, just good).This is what you get when you buy cheap. Spend the extra money for a good headset, especially if you're a gamer. I'm going with the Senheiser PC 166.

I have had this headset now for about 3 years and love it. It is comfortable, lightweight and the USB sound card is a nice addition. I have a sound card in my computer, but I use the included USB adapter for convenience. I have had the ear pad fall off before, and it is a little difficult to put back on, but this has only happened a couple of times. I have used this headset with Ventrilo without any issues. All in all I would highly recommend this headset.

The headset is very comfortable to wear. I like the fact that it has microphone mute, as well as, the volume control on the cable. The 6.5 feet cable is more than long enough for me to plug the headset into my CPU tower that sits under my desk. I watch videos on Hulu and did a microphone test with my webcam. Sound quality is great, very loud!CONS: The plastic bridge between the two earphones is fragile, especially when you extend it to fit your head. I am very careful with it. Also, the sound control piece on the cable, sometimes, get caught on the keyboard/mouse tray of my desk. The earphones sit ON the ear, not AROUND the ear. I am a big person, and I haven't had any discomfort, though.For the money, I doubt that you can get a better headphone/microphone set.

I'm constantly wearing headphones when I'm on my computer to avoid upsetting my wife, so these get a lot of use. At first they were ok, but then I started getting some irritation on my right ear. After a few more days, it turned to pain. When I reached up to find out what was causing the pain, my finger was bloody from touching my ear. I now have a permanent notch carved out of my ear from this headset. I will never own this style of headset again for the rest of my life.

the quality and clarity of this equipment is very good. However it's not as compact as I thought. I was imagining that it would fit in the front pocket of my backpack. Not only does it not fit, it takes up just as much space as regular headsets. The cord is much longer than pictured. good idea tho.

I only use these occasionally - for no more than one hour at a time. If I used them for extended periods of time, they would become uncomfortable on my ears, I believe. However, the audio quality is excellent, both for my hearing and my speaking voice. The attached volume control works very well to lower or raise the incoming voices as necessary. If you want wireless, this is not a solution. But if you only need a headset infrequently, and don't want to spend the additional money for the wireless Plantronic, these can't be beat.

The best headset I've found is the Sennheiser PC131. The Plantronics Audio 470 is good but not as good as the PC131. The microphone doesn't pick up the low end of my voice as well. Indeed, the specs say 100-10,000 Hz for the microphone, when the Sennheiser is 80-15,000 Hz. The headphones have more high end, which means I hear an annoying hiss. The build quality seems flimsier than the Sennheiser.

Man I was absolutely blown away from the bass on these babies, I loved it right from the start! Sound quality is amazing, and the mic quality is nice as well. People on my Ventrilo (chatting software) server instantly recognized I was using a new mic. The foam padding is nice too, on the ear part and at the top near the head. Overall great.

I'm enjoying my Plantronics headset. I returned a Koss headset after being dissatisfied with the sound quality of the microphone and am very pleased with the sound quality of this microphone. I think that the sound quality of this mic is better than the sound quality of my partner's Logitech headset (we often speak to each other on Skype).I like the way the headset folds to make it smaller and easier to pack into my laptop computer case.I had read reviews about the long cord and thought that it was a plus to have a long cord. I still feel that this is an advantage. However, the cord often gets intertwined with other cords that come out of the computer. As I'm writing this, I decided to put a Velcro tie onto the cord - I just did it: I created a loop of 2 or 3 feet of cord and tied it together to shorten the cord. I should be able to release the Velcro in a few seconds to lengthen the cord, whenever I want it longer.

I thought that by ordering a product with 4 stars, Id be sure to get an if not great at least decent product. However, I discovered upon opening this that the headset is very small. My head is average size, by no means large, and the headset is snug, with the mic touching my chin or mouth and impossible to use unless I am holding it away from my face. Fortunately, I think that the mic on my MacBook will be good enough for anything that I'll be doing with it.

Bought these for travel and use with my netbook. I had hoped for good sounding headphones that fold small for travel. Both sound and folded size are disappointing in this model. Had I handled them prior to purchase then I would not have bought them. Sound is OK but the ear pieces don't fit tightly and allow in surrounding noise; tried using them on an airline and simply could not block out the engine noise or people talking. They do fold but the result is still bulky and not very compact and takes much to much space to store for travel. Oh, and the cable is way to long and gets in the way, tangles easily.

The quality of the sound coming through this head set is great. The volume controls on the set work well too. I love that fact that it has it's own sound card that you plug into a USB port. That means I can use it on any computer and expect the same sound. I can also use it on a PS3 and other devices that have a USB port. My only complaint is that I can't lock the mic in an up position. It hangs there in front of my mouth all of the time. It concerns me too when I set it down because if set the wrong way, I'm afraid the mic will break off. I would want the mic to be able to be locked up so it is out of the way.

I use it for Dragon Naturally speaking and Teamspeak 3 during online game play.For DNS it was a vast improvement over the stock mic that came with the software.For TS3, the sound quality is wonderful and so far everyone on the other end can hear me, crisp and clear.I have only the DNS mic to compare it to so you may want to keep reading the reviews.

In a nutshell, very good headset, bad amazon shipping service. The headsets sound and mic are great, as you would expect from Plantronics. The shipping service from Amazon is another matter though. The 'free' shipping was poor. First, it was late, which is really bad, given the rediculously long 'window' of time they allow themselves to get it to you. Taking weeks, instead of days, is poor even for the mail. And they dont give you a very obvious idea of exactly what service it will be shipped by. And the tracking link was worthless, as it would just show repeated lines saying 'scanned', which is useless information. I called and emailed customer service several times, and while prompt and courteous, they couldn't provide any additional information. To Amazon's credit, they shipped another unit free of shipping charges. But that was at my request and only after repeated contacts initiated by me, and after they told me several times to 'just wait another week, and were sure it will be there. Free shipping is just a marketing gimmick then, as it doesn't work well if they can take weeks in simple delivery. They tried to blame it on the service they use for delivery, but that is irresponsible as well as bad business as well.

I do a lot of gaming, so use a mic'd headset for Ventrilo just about every day. Previous headsets that I have used have broken down fairly quickly, because I have to wrap up the wires and put the headset in a drawer when I am done with it, otherwise the cats will chew it up. This frequent wrapping and unwrapping of the wires has done in other headsets in a matter of months...even more expensive headsets. I bought this one about two years ago because it was cheaper and I figured it'd be less costly to replace it later, and it only just now broke down. It LOOKS fragile, but it definitely is not. I will be buying the exact same item to replace the one that finally broke down.Sound is also great, both input and output, and the headset is comfortable to wear for hours at a time. The earphones are not noise-cancelling, but for me that's a bonus, because I like to have the game sound and music come out of my regular speakers (and sometimes have the TV on too), and I can easily hear both the game/music (or TV) sounds and the chat on Ventrilo through my headphones at the same time.I agree with others that the cord is way too long, but I prefer that over a cord that is way too short, which is more frequently the case.I love this headset. An absolutely great headset for online voice applications such as Skype and Teamspeak gaming. Incoming and outgoing audio are very clear for voice/chat applications. I have not used it for music and doubt I would.POSITIVES:I. The headset is very comfortable. I've purchased and returned a few other types of headsets for a variety of reasons; i.e., too much pressure on my ears, too heavy, makes my ears too hot, etc. The Plantronics 470 is very lightweight, doesn't press hard against my ears, and can be worn for hours very comfortably. Also, the over-the-head design allows me to attach a TrackClip Pro for TrackIR head-tracking in flight simulators.II. The USB connection. While it has the two mini-plugs for the old mic and headset connections, the included USB converter allows you to convert these plugs into a connection for a USB port. The USB connection acts as its own "sound card" separate from the other main computer audio. Therefore, I can have Skype audio in the headset-only while simultaneously playing music and/or normal system sounds through my normal computer sound card and speakers. For gaming purposes, I can designate the headset to only transmit/receive voice communications while the game's audio is played through my normal sound card and large computer speakers for full effect.POTENTIAL NEGATIVES:1. A potential positive/negative depending on your perspective: this headset does not isolate sound. The headphones sit lightly against your ears instead of covering them, so I wouldn't use this if you are bothered by talking in a consistently noisy environment. However, I specifically bought this headset because I wanted to still be able to hear other sounds in the room. Specifically, this works great in terms of using the headset for Teamspeak comms for gaming while still being able to hear my normal computer speakers very well.2. Long cord, especially when marketed as a headset "optimized for laptop use." I have at least 3 feet or cord I keep coiled and bound together with a twist-tie near the USB connection. However, I use this headset with a desktop PC and plug it into a USB port on my keyboard. If I had to plug it into a USB port on my main computer chassis, the long cord would be a bonus. Personally, I believe what has been "optimized" for "laptop use" with this headset is the clip on the cord that controls headset volume and allows you to mute the mic. It is very small and lightweight compared to the larger bulky looking in-line controller on the Plantronics 400 foldable headset.Overall, great headset. Great price with free super saver shipping. I highly recommend this product.

I bought this to replace another much cheaper set for my boyfriend because he games for hours and the other set was such poor quality. This absolutely exceeded both his and my expectations! They were awesome. He wears them for hours and they stay comfortable! The sound quality is also excellent and he loves the fact that you can "hide" the mic back into the band when not using! They were a great buy!

You honestly can't beat this headset the money I use it with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and it's worked flawlessly don't really have any complaints about it. it's comfortable and I've had it for several months now and have had no problems with its plastic construction so far. Not the best but not bad for the Bucks actually works better than the more expensive headset that I have and it's more friendly it seems for hearing aids than the set that says it's hearing aid compatible. It works just fine for me.

I bought this Plantronics headset for use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10. Even though this microphone is being advertised for a laptop it would easily just as well work for a desktop. I am currently dictating this review through the mic in a normal speaking tone and pace and it has no problems whatsoever picking up anything I say. Overall a great product.

I just received my order and it is the wrong item. The item i received is also DSP 400 but it is NOT the same product. The item i received has an analog connector to fit into the ports for a sound card (as you can see by searching for "Plantronics DSP 400"). IT IS NOT A straight-in USB connection as pictured in the product description. The item I have only as an ADAPTER for USB, its not a pure USB headset. Is this version with an adapter a NEWER product model? Why would Plantronics eliminate a pure USB Connection, the adapter is inferior for certain!

this headphones sound good and so does the microphone..but they tend to fall off your head because that rubber-band isn't tight enough to hold then around your ears. I have to punch new holes n wrapped it to the frame with clear tape so it can embrace my head a bit tighter. Buy it at your own discrete.

It's very sturdy and like how the mic retracts into the headset when you not using it. Has a thick cord and looks stylish but that's where the pros end. After having the headset on for more then 10 minutes it started hurting my ears to the point where I had to take it off and run sound through my external speakers. Also the sound from these aren't that great with a lack of bass. I'll be returning them and trying out either the Fatality headset or Razar's offering. I'd advise people with bigger heads to stay away.

I unfortunately have a friend who uses Mac. I should end our friendship based off that fact and one of these drunken nights I will. BUT, because I was still his friend at Christmas time, I bought him this for his Mac laptop as his headphone jack doesn't work.This works great for him using Skype.

I needed this for a software phone. They are comfortable, the sound quality is high, and the foldability does not impair comfort.The weakest point is that there is no distinct visual indicator of the mute function. I realize that at this price it is too much to expect an LED indicator, but a red painted area that shows when the mute is on would be a big help. These only have an icon at one end of a slider to indicate the microphone is muted.

After a month with this headset I'd to say that it was a good purchase, I only have 1 complain:- After a while your ears WILL get hot, this because of the materials the headphones were built, but is not that bad, is not that they become SO hot that you have to take them off, not at all.Good price, solid performance, go for it.

Pros: Comfortably fits on my head. Cord is long; too long is good you can cable tie it, too short is unusable if the PC is too far. USB dongle soundcard installs well with Vista and is interchangeable with ANY other mic/speaker. This makes it so that if you have a bad soundcard or no soundcard, this will replace it. IT folds neatly for travel. Vol control and mic mute on the cord.Cons: earpads are very flat and firm, so it hurts the tragus and antitragus of my ear since mine stick out a little bit. Fluffier earpads may help that but there are no replacements in the box.. and thats just a con if I want to be picky because I really like these headphones.

Be sure when you remove them or put them back on that you do so with both sides of the headset at the same time.After about 6 months of use, and having the habit of always removing the headset with just 1 hand, the frame snapped.The frame is not very strong in general, so be very gentle with these.Otherwise, great sound.

I purchased this headset for the intended purpose of using it for vent server/game play, VoIP, etc...I cannot say I am disappointed. The product seems really stable, unlike other users comments about it appearing flimsy. I cannot say that. I really love how small it folds down - very compact.I have only experienced some problems connecting the USB part of the device. I think this is due to my power requirements off the USB hub. But even when I plugged it in directly, it appeared to not work properly. Maybe I need to work on it or tweak it a little more? But you shouldn't have to right? There are no instructions or otherwise that tells you HOW to go about configuring the device. When I try to use the USB device as my sound manager, it doesnt seem to work properly at all...Without the USB adapter, however, the headset and mic work flawlessly! The sound quality, is good, and clear,. The microphone pickup is great as well... I have to plug the headset into the back of my machine, so the EXTREMELY long cord is great as well! Though it can become tangled easily. More is always better than less I say!Overall, I was expecting a little more from the USB part of the headset, because I was interested in getting my gameplay and music from the desktop speakers and using the headset and microphone for my online chats, vent server, etc...Hopefully I can figure it out soon and i will give a better review of that.Hope this helped!

As long as it worked, the mic worked well. Even then, couldn't wear for more than 20 minutes. And after two months the microphone just stopped working too. Probably not a good idea to buy it, I think.

I use many different computers and the USB connector for the headphones is very convenient. I don't have to go fiddling around to find which port is for the speaker and which is for the mic. Even if I have to plug into the back of a computer I can find the USB jack without pulling out the computer and getting out a flash light. They fold down very nicely and the cord is really long. I keep it partially bundled most of the time. but if I have to plug it in under the desk and behind the computer I still have the freedom of not holding my head 2 inches from the desk to hear.

I needed a headset that had a microphone to be able to communicate both on Skype and several video games that require that easier communication.Right away I was impressed by the ease at which my computer handled it and in less then 20 seconds it was fully operational. The quality of the sound was amazing and the easy access volume control is just icing on the cake. The microphone has great sound quality and there has never been a problem with anyone not being able to hear me or getting overwhelmed by background noise.Now, there is a few issues. Firstly the cheap plastic tabs that held right earpiece in place broke after a fall of only a foot. Second, the behind the ear design is uncomfortable with the way the headset secures itself. Add in a pair of glasses and the entire rig crosses over into painful until you become accustomed to it.Overall this is a headset with amazing sound quality both incoming and outgoing though wearing it takes quite a bit of getting used to.3 1/2 stars.

I purchased this headset to use with computer apps like Skype, etc. and it works well. The mic swivels down to talk, or you can swivel it up when you're not. It fits pretty comfortably on your head. The sound is nice and clear, and the cord is of adequate length. It is handy to have on one ear because then you can still hear out of the other one. Overall, a functional, capable headset at a reasonable price, and I am satisfied with the purchase.
