These are very comfortable to wear for long periods. They are heavier than many headphones but once they are on my head I don't really notice it. The ear cups are large enough that my ears fit all the way inside which keeps them from going numb.The sound quality is great. Of course you don't get the same kind of bass you do from an 18" sub but it's well within my expectations for a high-end set of head phones.The surround sound in games isn't really what I had hoped for. However I attribute that to the games more than the headphones. I've tried a lot of different 5.1 and 7.1 sound files and these perform very well.All in all I'm very happy with these. I've had a couple of friends pick them up because I like them so much and none of them have ever complained.

These are the best gaming headphones I've ever used. The hinge is strong, the earcups go up and down the 2 wires, allowing for even giant noggins like mine to fit comfortably inside. The surround sound is crisp and accurate for FPS gaming situational awareness, and they're good enough to watch movies on too. I love the noise canceling microphone, it gets rid of the fan noise and feedback from the earcups and lets my voice cut through the chatter. I wear glasses under the headphones and I've noticed my right ear hurting after long weekend sessions but after spending some time away from the desk I'm good to wear them for another few hours. I feel bad about wasting my money on the other headphones I got before these.

Context:I previously owned a wireless Turtle Beach headset, which I bought for $140. After getting fed up with its low quality and problematic interference I traded it back into Amazon about 6 months later for $50. With that $50 I bought this headset.Pros:-This headset is so good that I do not mind that I wasted $90 in order for the fates to bring us together.-The sound is honestly excellent, better quality than both of the Turtle Beach headsets I have owned in the past.-It will pick up your voice very loud and clear, (you may even have to turn it down for your friends).-It looks great.-The 7.1 surround sound technology is fantastic, and very easy to set up, (if your headset's indicator is glowing blue then you have surround sound on).Cons:-It does pick up a little bit too much ambient noise. Not really a big deal, and my $140 Turtle Beach did it worse.Overall:You pretty much have two choices: Either spend $250 on an Astro 240, (the best gaming headset in my opinion), or get this for 1/5 the price.There is no point in settling for what you think is somewhere in the middle (Turtle Beaches, Trittons, etc.) because these are just as good, if not better.

If I had to review it in two words: just awesome. The sound quality is excellent, whether listening to music, watching a movie, or playing a game. When listening to music with the surround sound turned on, it sounds like you are literally in the studio with the band as they recorded it. I got chills listening to my favorite songs when I used this headset. The mic quality is extremely clear and they actually seem very sturdy and strongly built.The only con I can possibly think of is that they don't seem to have very much bass or lower-end sound. My computer's equalizer settings don't seem to have any effect on it, I guess because it's a USB headset. Don't get me wrong though, a little more bass would be nice, but the rest of the sound quality makes up for anything it might be lacking. Someone else suggested maybe including an equalizer in the software that comes with it, and I think that would be fantastic. If they were to include that, this would be hands-down the best headset for the price.I am very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great quality headset that will last for years to come.

I bought this headset to replace my Turtle Beach X11, which I was very happy with until it started shorting out.USB and software installation were simple and setup was very easy. Simulated surround sound is excellent. I Skype several hours per day, and I have yet to hear any complaints about microphone quality.The problem I have with this headset is the fit and comfort. I feel like my head is in a vice. I can't wear this headset for more than 10 minutes without having to take it off. I find myself moving the earpiece up onto my ear to relive the pressure and often times I put the sound on my desktop speakers and just speak into the mic. It is important to note that I am a woman, and do not have a big head. The ear pieces come way down over my ears and place an enormous amount of pressure on my jaw. Ouch!If the headset fits you properly, it would be great for you. But for me, it is just too painful to wear for any length of time.

This gaming headset is truly out standing! I was ecstatic when I opened the package and got to hold them. They feel fairly high quality, and are extremely light too! I was worried about them not fitting on my head because I have a large head, but they fit just fine. They sit nicely on your ears, and the ear cups are also fairly large. I have large ears and they fit my ears nicely. I can't really spot any downsides other than these few: The material the ear cups and headband are made of a material that attracts lint all to well. Also, after about an hour of use, they don't hurt, but they make my head itch where the ear cups sit. And finally, this might just be my computer, but when I use the "Dolby 7.1 surround sound" software, they tend to cut out in minute intervals, which is quite annoying. But what can I expect from fake surround sound. Overall, this gaming headset is amazing price point they are set at. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a cheap, good-quality gaming headset.

I bought this with the thought that it'd be nice to have a high powered gaming headset. But I ended up figuring out that it was pretty much ONLY good for gaming.When I tried it on there were two major issues.1. The length of the chord, I was basically anchored to my tower unless I pulled the headset off.2. The Dolby was only really good for gaming, not for music or movies.The ear pieces & head band were comfy but I just couldn't get over those two major issues. Luckily my friend's headset had recently busted so I shipped it to her.She loves it, and I figured she would since she plays on a laptop and doesn't really need a long chord. All in all I ended up sticking to my TurtleBeach, it hasn't failed me yet.

I use the headset for gaming, occasionally music while I browse the internet. For both purposes, the headset works fine (even has an option on the software to quickly and easily (from the desktop toolbar) switch from Gaming mode to Music mode (changes how the bass and highs are equalized a bit). Lows are booming without sacrificing treble. For most users, the fidelity is good. The pickup on the microphone is good. My last headset I practically had to yell to talk over ventrillo or skype even on high sensitivity so both me and my roommates are happy with the pickup on the mic. I've only had one or two occasions where I've had to repeat myself.After extensive use, the top of my ears would usually begin to hurt. I wear glasses, so that could be a contributing factor, but I believe the reason is that the 'earmuffs' are not quite large enough. I have pretty normal sized ears, so users who plan on wearing the headsets for long gaming sessions might experience some discomfort. This would really be my only complaint, and it's really only a problem on weekends when I can sit and play for like 5 hours.

These are definitely worth getting. They sound amazing, especially for gaming because if you turn it up loud enough you can literally hear where people are walking ingame so you can basically shoot before they even walk into the room.I use it for gaming, music, and movies... Disappointed that I cannot use it for my ps3 but I use my laptop enough to were it is worth it. I got mine on sale for $60 after testing headphones out at bestbuy this on blew the other $100 - $200+ headphones out of the water. For the price it is a great deal. The surround sound is fantastic especially for the relatively low price. After using them for a while now I can honestly say I would pay at least $100 for them.The only complaint I can think of is that sometimes the blue surround sound light reflects on my glasses a bit when it is dark out.Sound - 10/10Looks - 10/10Comfort after extended use - 10/10Finally I would like to add that my GLASSES have no affect when wearing these - they don't press them into my head like other headphones, and the square shape doesn't bother my head at all even though many others complain about it not being round.GET THESE HEADPHONES!

I'll admit, it isn't the same quality as a $200 headset, but it is pretty darn good for $25! The mic is really good quality, and is sensitive, so it is suggested to turn down the sensitivity when playing games in open mic, otherwise players might be thinking you are trying to talk the whole time. Had some trouble at first getting it to work, but that was my fault because I didn't plug the wires in all the way. The felt is very comfortable, although it can get dirty very easily, so watch out if you have longer hair. After about an hour or so of having them on, however, I need to take them off for a few minutes because the pressure makes it start getting uncomfortable, but that is with almost any headset. The wire is really long, which is both good and bad in that you have more freedom to move, but it can snag really easy. I haven't had that problem yet. The microphone looks like it can break pretty easily, but I have been careful with it and have not yet broken it. The volume wheel works pretty good, and these headphones can get loud. The first thing I did with these was play Left 4 Dead, and I had the volume on max, and as soon as the Valve intro came on, I nearly had a heart-attack. Another reason it is not recommended to have it on full volume is because sometimes the sound will leak out of the ear pieces and go into the microphone, which can get very annoying for people in other parties. Some people have claimed you cannot "feel" the bass, but I ran a bass test from youtube on these headphones, and I could definitely "feel" the bass, but that was at a VERY low frequency.Pros: Cheap, comfortable padding, good mic, good sound quality, can get loudCons: Some parts look like they are easy to break, uncomfortable after long periods of use, felt gets dirtyRecommended for: Semi-hardcore Gamers or Hardcore Gamers on a budgetEase of initial set up: 5/5Durability: 3/5Mic Quality: 4/5Sound Quality: 4/5Comfort ability: 4/5Appearance: 4/5Overall: 4/5 A great item for the price!!Edit (1/2/2012): A minor inconvenience I have ran into is that the plugs are both black, and not color coded, sometimes making it hard to tell what plug goes into the microphone input, and what plug goes into the headphone input. I like Plantronics products and I've bought several of their headsets over the years. They have been consistently good with their audio quality. Concerning this particular headset, its sound is full-bodied with good bass response to give it depth and punch, and good treble response so I can easily hear voices and details. It also wears comfortably, even for several hours.However, this time around, I am a bit disappointed because the little in-line volume/mute mechanism is sub-par. I use it a lot, especially during gaming to mute the mic at various times, and/or during a voice-chat. Plantronics seems to have departed from their past inline-device designs, and this new design falls far short of being convenient. I can hardly tell the difference between the volume on one side, and the mute switch on the other. They have recessed each control, and my fat-fingers can't differentiate. It's annoying as all get out! The mute-switch itself is flimsy, lose, and doesn't have a solid "click" between settings, let alone the fact that I almost invariable have to use my finger-nail to flick it because the switch is flush with the surface. It's not broken, that's just the way they designed it, and they've degraded the utility of it in the process!If you don't use the in-line volume/mute, then this is a great headset. If, however, you intend to use the in-line device often, then you should get a different product.

Amazing for gaming and music no complaints. I even bought a used headset and it still sounds absolutely perfect.************************************************************************************************************************************************READ This:Make sure to go down to the 'Speaker' icon in the taskbar and right-click it. Click playback devices find the 'Speakers: Gamecom 780' entry, and right-click again. Then click 'Configure Speakers' and navigate down to 7.1 surround. Keep clicking Test and then the Next buttons until it says that 7.1 surround is set up. If you do not do this even if you enable Dolby Surround in the headset's software you'll only be getting 5.1 virtual surround, instead of 7.1. It does make a difference, and is considerably better. I wish it explained this more in the documentation. Also note if you switch to stereo mode it still is normal stereo, this changing in the options menu doesn't screw up the stereo option at all.

I just received these today and got them setup right away. I fired up Team Fortress 2 and couldn't believe how crisp and immersive these headphones are with Dolby 7.1. I was blown away and couldn't be happier with my purchase. About an hour later I begin to feel some discomfort and proceed to reposition them to a more comfortable position. Unfortunately the discomfort got worse and began to realize that the other comments I read about how uncomfortable these headphones are were starting to sink in. Needless to say, I have already begun the return process and will be shipping them back tomorrow. The cups are smaller than my Sony MDR-V700 headphones I wear at work all day long. I can't even tell I'm wearing those, even after 5, 6 or more hours. Gamecom 780 headset - Incredible audio, just not designed to accomodate everyone.

The build quality on this headset is exceptional, it feels very sturdy and resilient. The chord is also quite thick and looks very stron, but it tends to get in the way a bit. The microphone is very good, but I've had complains from people on the other end of the line that I sound too loud. I was a little underwhelmed by the sound quality, it's not that it's bad at all, it's just that after reding some of the other reviews I was expecting to be utterly wowed, instead, I feel the sound quality is very clear and crisp, but a little underpowered on the bass sounds, and maybe a little to bright. Overall I am very pleased with my headset, it works very well for gaming, I feel they are very very good for the price.

OK I just unwrapped them and fell instantly in love...They are over the ear which I specifically wanted and so were awesome for enveloping me in sound.There are three switches that I can see on the left ear phone - Volume, Mute (this didn't work for me) and Dolby (again this didn't work) but I'm assuming the reason the buttons didn't work was that I'm using this on a Mac and the software that comes with it doesn't work with MAC OS, only Windows. For me this is really of no concern as I will almost never use those buttons anyway.The ear cups are a felt material and so very comfy.If I had any negative comment it would be that the headset is a little too tight for my head. Now I may have a horrendously massive head (apparently) but even with that it's not uncomfortable. Just sayin' that's all.If anything changes over time I'll post it back here but so far very very happy :)

Just bought the Gamecom 780 and after fighting with it for about a hour to get it to work, the headphone quality is quite nice, the microphone is good but it is picky with what it will work with. As the review states beware the 3.0 I played with various different drivers, configurations, and usb ports until determining the headset does not play well with usb 3.0 The sound through the headset would distort for a couple seconds every 30 seconds or so, and the microphone would not work period. Luckily for me I have a few 2 and 1.0 ports on the back of my pc that seem to work. Overall from the headache just to get it to work and the sound quality, its a decent purchase for 50 bucks.

I did a lot of research before buying a headset and this one was the best. Surely the best on the $0 to $100 range. It's even better than some that cost ~$120 (I actually tried many). Sure you can buy a better one but it will cost more than double the price to get a 10% increase in performance. So don't waste your money and buy this one. They are comfortable and feel very sturdy. The cable feels strong and I know it won't break in years. The sound is outstanding. I use mostly for playing Battlefield 3, listening to music and watching some Netflix. It does great in all three aspects. When playing BF3 sometimes I can hear the footsteps from an enemy who's coming from behing to knife me and I turn around and kill him before he can do anything. So yes, it has saved my lives a couple times.

The Plantronics 780 headset is a high quality, comfortable headset without the high price tag. The sound quality is superb, featuring stereo, 5:1, or 7:1 virtual surround sound with Dolby. The ear cups are deep set, so you can wear them comfortably for hours at a time. Rather than the usual soft-vinyl padded ear cups, these have fabric surrounding the ears and atop the head-- no more sweaty ears. The on-ear volume, Dolby-surround, and mic mute buttons are very responsive, and placed such that they are very intuitive. Overall, the quality of construction is evident throughout the product-- these are built to last. Set up on Windows 7 was as simple as plugging them in to a (powered) USB port (ZERO hiss!) and inserting the disc into the ROM drive. I use them on both my laptop and PC.There is no reason to spend almost 2x as much for the 'popular' brands, when the Plantronics 780 deliver all the same (or higher) quality features and construction. Give them a try: you won't be disappointed.

I have been using these models for many years now. There perhaps the most robust and solid headset I have ever used. The ruggedness of the cord is nice and the rubber stoppers around the volume pad and connection areas make sure the cords wont get ripped out, which has happened to other headsets I have owned. Plus I like how the mic can hide fully into the arch.Now I WILL say this. This is my 2nd pair due to a design flaw. Because the mic can hide into the main support arch on the left side, this makes the left arch weaker. I never dropped the headset, smashed it, pulled on it, nothing like that. But one day near the top where it connects to the adjusting slide it just snapped clean apart. The speakers and mic still worked, but I had to put electrical tape over it to keep wearing it. Even then, it just never felt the same and here you are embarrassed to show it to others.Now after you have read that you're probably thinking why did I buy another? And why do I still recommended you get this. As I said before the build quality, design, and thought of keeping the unit strong and durable is very present. Plantronics knew what they were doing and saw the sorry and weak state the current headset market was. And the unit that did break lasted almost 2 years. Thats a record for the headsets I have owned, many of which die/break after only a few months!On top of that these sound great! The last pair I had was the 377, the 'opened ear' version. There really isn't much of a difference between the two design wise. However I will say I did noticed a good bass and volume boost on this model. The 377 just was to quiet for some songs. The 367 is fine on its own, but I do plan on getting a amp for these sometime soon, as the other reviewers of these recommend.I HOPE these will not break like the last one did, but again these hold the record for longest lasting in my books. For the price and the features it offers there is no other comparison. If they break again a few years from now, I'll be back looking at Plantronics. Get these and have fun!

SOUND:AMAZING, the Bass is super good, the Accustic is super good, ITS ALL good. compared to logitech g35/g930, roccat kave, turtle beaches, atros, trittons, it is simply one of the BEST sounding headsets in the market, especially for its PRICE of 80 dollars compared to the ones WAY over 100 dollars. (5/5 stars)BUILD QUALITY/PACKAGING/DURABILITY:very good build quality, it looks sexy when you wear it, the colors give it a sleek look. the packaging is DIFFICULT to remove at first, but easier as you break the initial plastic covering. Plantronics over the years has dedicated a lot of their attention to their durability, and the 780 is no different. from the plantronics 777 to the 780, plantronics fixed the breaking head band, and further improved the overall structural integrity of the entire headphone system. even the ear cups are well designed so that it doesnt attract dust.(4/5 stars (because packaging was a pain))INGAME QUALITY: we all know that this thing is a BEAST at music and movies, but how about in game? the 7.1 surround brings gaming to a whole new level, and CLEARLY pin points enemy positions. works for BF3, all the call of duty: modern warfail games, and many others, even free to play shooters.however, it is virtual surround sound, so its obviously not as good as true surround sound(because true surround sound requires 4 jacks, and lap tops NEVER have 4 jacks; 7.1 however only needs USB or 2 jacks).-(4/5 stars here)COMFORT: ear cups feel light and relaxed, the headset is light so you dont get a headache using it for extended periods of time, THE WIRE IS SUPER LONG and CAN EFFECT GAMING. overall, it is comfortable (4/5 stars)SUPPORT/COMPATIBILITY: works on all operating systems (even 64-bit and MAC), except maybe linux. support is top notched. This is actually a decent headset for PC gaming. It doesn't sound as good as the turtle beach that I had (which cost about $200), but it does sound good for the price.But I must forewarn you, if you are trying to get this for use with a console beware that it only has a USB adapter. I was expecting it to have both a USB adapter as well as a standard analog adapter.To get this to work with my XBox 360, I had to put the digital output of my 360 into my existing Ear Force DSS system, then have the output from that (which would usually go to the headphones) go into one of the input plugs on my soundcard. Then I had to tweak the settings with my soundcard to get it to work.Another note .. If you have an HD Audio sound card, you may find yourself in a bit of a bind with these headphones. There was a direct conflict between the drivers for these headphones and the drivers for my Realtek HD Audio sound card. To get it to work properly, I was required to install the drivers for the headphones (I could not find a suitable DSS emulator that works with them otherwise).. and I had to install microsofts basic HD Audio Device drivers for my sound card.As a result, I am losing out on a bunch of customization options that I did have for my sound card and the various other devices that are already attached to it.Thru an ungodly amount of Jerry Rigging, I was able to get them all working again .. but the sound is nowhere near as good as it once was. So soundphiles, beware of this potential issue with these headphones.If you are just a standard PC Gamer that needs a nice pair of headphones for playing only PC Games, and you don't have a good sound card .. then you should definitely go with these headphones. They will work even if you don't have a sound card at all.Hopefully this info helps someone else who is looking into these as a mid to high end headphone replacement.

The over all construction of the headphones appears to be well built & sturdy. Sound quality is outstanding, very nice frequency response, no audible distortion even @ higher volumes. The microphone is unintrusive unlike other headsets out there (not bulky so doesn't obstruct vision), doesn't seam to pickup on outside noise, & when using the mic (Skype or audacity) voice comes thru loud and clear without any background noise or feedback that you get with other headsets when playing things at high volumes (people hearing music your playing through the headset). The 7.1 virtualization is a nice touch. Works well with the PS3. And Overall the headset is comfortable. Software is comes with could use a built in Equalizer, Other than that no complaints. would recommend this product.

I must be cursed or something because I have never been able to find a gaming headset that just plan works. I just returned another headset and paid double for these, hoping the extra cost would insure something that actually works. It did not. I have a constant hiss in the right side, and a weird deafening cracking/static in the left side that will just stick around for a random amount of time, go away, then come back. There is no excuse for this. It's a USB connection. It's all digital. The mic is fantastic, but otherwise these are worthless to me. I installed the CD software, then I tried installing the release 2 software from their site. I tried changing the audio to 7.1 in the windows mixer. I tried changing it to 24 bit 96000hz. Nothing helps. They are horrible. If anyone has any idea whats wrong, share your wisdom. I use 64bit Windows 7.

The product as it is functions as it should. The plastic construction feels hollow and flimsy (as a Chinese-manufactured product ought to, I suppose), but hasn't snapped yet, so there's something to be said about deceptive appearances. There was a gouge on the mic stem, which someone at the factory attempted to hide with some tape, but it doesn't affect performance.The headset is not compatible with my onboard soundchip's EQ software (in this case RealTek HD Management), and the software included with the headset is absolutely minimal consisting of three options (Dolby Surround Enable/Disable, Game & Movie EQ mode, and Music EQ mode, the latter two only available when Dolby Surround is active). I should like to have more control over my EQ settings in applications that don't have their own EQ controls or presets (applications that DO have this sort of control would be media players like VLC and WinAMP). Without this control, it's hard to take advantage of the 7.1 surround, and having this surround mode active just gives everything a sort of glorified reverb effect, like you're listening to it with a bucket over your head.If Plantronics released this kind of software for users of these headsets, I would gladly award a fourth star.

Shameful customer support from Plantronics. Only reason they get 2 stars is because they feel decent for the price, but it comes with a big hassle for Windows 7 (and other OS.)Many people have the problem of reversed audio, or the audio is too loud with this headset. The Plantronics forum has tons of posts on the subject, yet our requests for support go largely ignored.There is a slight workaround where you have to constantly adjust the volume mixer for each program. Not sure if it's worth keeping these because if they end up breaking, Plantronics has already showed me they don't care for their customers.Ears get a bit sore after a while, to be expected I suppose.Going to look around for a better deal, returning these once I find one.

This headset provides excellent sound and microphone quality, but a major issue arose that resulted in me being forced to return the product. Within a week of use, the right speaker began to emit a loud audio popping noise every 3-5 minutes of consistent audio use. I tried everything to correct the issue (re installing drivers, changing USB slots etc) and nothing changed. After researching tech support forums, I found that this problem is reasonably widespread and that it was not a singular defective unit that could be replaced.If the problem was fixed, I would recommend this headset no question, but as it stands I offer my experience as a word of caution.

Like many users have commented, I think that the sound on this headset is amazing. It is great for gaming as well as for listening to music and watching movies. It sounds especially good when listening to podcasts because the sound is incredibly clear. The included software is very simple and adopts a minimalist design which I think is great. Even though I have a relatively large head, I also think that it feels very comfortable. I don't feel any discomfort and can wear it for hours.The only thing that I don't like is the sound leakage. Everyone in the room can hear what you are hearing and this is quite inconvenient, especially when you plan on using it late into the night.Besides that, I think that for the price, you can't really beat this headset in terms sound quality and comfort.

I just ordered my second pair of these. Solid headset. I have no complaints. Great fit, great sound, and not overly bulky like some of the other Plantronics headsets. The mute/volume control are in a very reliable position on the back of the left ear-cup. This is important for me because I work from home and I'm constantly muting my headset. For the price you cant really go wrong.As I said I am on my second pair. I ended up falling asleep on the first pair and the pivet part above the ear-cup broke. I'm a bigger dude so I can't blame the headset for that, but just watch out i guess. That being said the headset is definitely sturdy. I have dropped them on the hard-wood floor many times.4stars because they can't handle my weight (220lbs). Other than that, good buy =)

This headset is simply amazing. The build quality is very nice, no issues with anything squeaking, rattling or potentially breaking. The cloth earpads are very comfortable for exteneded gaming sessions, even while wearing glasses. It also has a great microphone that doesn't pick up much, if any, background noise and conveniently raises up to get out of the way. The mute switch is in a great location, no need to fumble with where it is. My only real gripe about it is that the cable can get tangled a bit easy, but I have it bundled up with a velco wrap, so it's not too much of an issue for me. And let's not forget about the 7.1 Dolby surround, which makes every game I play more enjoyable than just using my 2.1 Bose system.

After recently purchasing and returning both the Creative Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Sigma and the SteelSeries Siberia V2 - over sound, quality and price issues, I decided to give the Plantronics GameCom 780 a try.This headset is well built. They fit my head well and fully cover my ears. Most importantly, they sound great! They were packaged nicely. The software installation was a breeze and is not all encumbering - settings are Dolby on/off and choice between movie/game or music modes.I really like the mic mute and volume controls on the headset. Although, I am fumbling with them now and they will take a little getting used to, it is the perfect solution. With other headsets, I am always having an issue with the controller on the cable hanging up on the edge of my desk or difficult to find when needed.My only suggestions to Plantronics, is that the cable should be about a foot or two longer, and although it appears to be firm, I think the jacket should have been better shielded. Only time will tell how well these hold up.Anyway, if you are looking for a great headset in the $50.00 price range, these are the ones that I would recommend.

The sound is really nice especially after using a very cheap set of headphones for a long time. You can really tell the difference in quality with this set. The volume button is positioned in a fairly convenient place and the volume control has a good large range. My one big gripe with this headset is that it is fairly heavy and tends to press down on your ears and sides of the head. For shorter term use (less than 3 hours a day) this is fine and it is unlikely that you will even notice. However, if you are planning on using this set for long stretches you want to find a more comfortable set as after a few days of heavy use this set starts to feel very uncomfortable. I will add that after a few weeks of use I pretty much got used to the feel of this headset and I'm not really bothered by its weight anymore and the upside of the snug fit is that when you move or tilt your head the headset stays in one place and very rarely needs to be adjusted.

So this is my second Plantronics headset. I am coming from Plantronics GameCom 367 Closed-Ear Gaming headset which lasted me for 2 years before the audio connection went bad. It is an inprovement. First it is usb powered, the connection seem STRONG when compared the 367, its under $50 if you use Amazon Prime and it feels much stronger than the 387 i have.My results so far, btw I just received it a few minute ago.Pros:Bulding qualitySound is Loud as i am used to with plantronics headsetsThe controls are all on the headset insteand on the cardThe headset stands as a universal control for the computer's system volumeCard lenght is perfect for me. Not too long not too shortSound Quaility is great.Cushion cups are ferm but yet softCons:The mic stick outward and cannot be adjusted closer to the mouth.The card is not braided.The included CD does not work with Windows 8I am praying this last me longer than the GameCom 367 did.

7.1 is not stunning. driver is too small. long wear cause pain because the ear cup does not cover the bottom side. zero noise cancelling.i have no idea why this cheap plastic looking stuff cost this much. those of you who like it can go ahead and s***talk me because my review always says the truth and make people feel bad.for the price i cannot complain though. 50 bucks for 7.1 headphone? i am cool with that. volumn adjust sucks! very unresponsive, sometimes i wait for like half a minute for it to respond, and wdhat it did is it overkill the sound to zero or max, so then i have to adjust back again. what kind of stupid crap does that?the only button i like is the on and off 7.1 button.i don't own any other 7.1 headset, hell this is the only headset i have. but I am very disappointed with the sound and it is inferior to ad700 for sure. i feel so sense of space. I cannot locate enemies in csgo.honestly screw gamecom for a cheap looking trash sounding overhyped headset that clamps only on my glasses feet not the bottom of my ear.

The audio on these headphones is decent. you can pickup audible direction and even the faintest noise with these cans. The build quality is good. The device is made of sturdy material and the cable is sturdy and tangle proof. I wish the cable was longer so I can wrap it around my desk and hide the cord while still having room to move. The biggest problem is these headphones are some of the MOST uncomfortable headphones I've ever worn. After 30 minutes my ears are burning from the pressure. I have larger ears and that may contribute to the problem but there is no need for headphones to grip your head this hard. Beware! if you have large or sensitive ears, these will cause you pain.TL;DR These headphones cause bad ear strain over sessions lasting longer than 30 minutes.

The headphones are amazing. The sounds are sharp, the base is nice and its great for gaming. I have played Battlefield3 with these headsets and I have played it with other headsets and my scores have improved, i can hear people coming from exact locations and every explosion comes in crystal clear. i have not as of yet used the microphone, but i am sure it will not disappoint.I was against using USB headphones till I used these, it changed my outlook on USB audio. I also do not like installing drivers/software for headphones but being that these were USB, i figured I would and the software is great, not buddy at all. Please it gives you Dolby audio with the software and its pretty decent for music with the software.While I dont like paying too much, these were worth the price I paid. 5 stars is an understatement.Great job plantronics

Recently my Plantronics GameCom Pro 1 headset broke, and it was fantastic. I loved everything about that headset. Since it's out of production, i saw this one and thought i'd give it a try. Anyway, it doesn't seem like Plantronics learned anything from that headset when they designed this one. For one, this headsets microphone is stubby, and i dislike how the detent is just not strong enough, so it flip flops around all the time. The muffin ears are huge and hot. on my old one, i could comfortably wear the headset all day (used to play wow and raid alot), no problem, but this one, my ears are sweating after an hour. Also, there is no way to adjust the headset for head width. I have a big head, and this one feels like a vice grip on my head. If you have a normal sized head, then this will probably feel fine for you. Also, there is a wonky on/off switch and volume controls on the left ear piece, which is not really ideal for adjusting on the fly. On the original the mute/volume was located on the cord, with a nice clip to attach to your shirt. This one lacks that feature. Overall i'm really not happy with this headset and i already ordered a GameCom Pro 1 from ebay, and am returning this one. :(

This is a great headset but, if you're planning to use these headphones on Windows 8, the driver probably won't work right out of the box. It's easy enough to get working but you'll need an extra minute or two. Just follow these steps:1) Download the driver from the Plantronics website.2) Right-click on the newly-downloaded driver and click "Proporties."3) In the "Compatibility" tab, check off "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and choose Windows 7 from the drop-down menu. Click "OK."4) Right-click the driver again and click "Run as administrator."From there just follow the prompts and it should be up and running.As for the headset itself, it's excellent. These are my first surround sound headphones and they really do make a difference, especially for gaming. The sound isn't perfect, but for the $50 or so that I payed, it's well above my expectations. These are an amazing bargain.

First off, I bought a Plantronics headset back in 2007 and 2008 for gaming purposes. They did well but as 2012 ended I needed a new headset. I desired a better microphone and a headset that had some "oomph" when it came to sound. I'm a bit of an audiophile, but I am understanding that gaming headsets aren't going to give me the greatest quality.Having said all that, this gameset fits all my needs as a gamer. It has a great surround sound, microphone that filters a lot of background, and fairly comfortable*. The asterisk is because I wear thicker glasses, which can create a bit of discomfort for me. For those without glasses or contacts, it'll be very comfortable.I'm rating this 4 stars as my other Plantronics (an older gaming headset variation) were (and still are) very comfortable with glasses. The padding is thicker and it's not as much of a clamp on your skull. That being said, I was a bit bummed when I got these. They're still great though, but for MY rating it's a 4 out of 5.

I'm not sure how people call these "comfortable". I have smallish ears, and they hurt for 2 days after wearing these things. They were so bad I'm shopping for a new headset as we speak. Sound quality was decent though not even close to the best I've had and they do a good job of positional audio in games. The mic is average at best and picks up a lot of background noise.I bought these to hold me over until I could pick a good set of headphones. But they were so uncomfortable I dusted off my old Medusa 5.1's instead. I wish I'd returned the Plantronics when I had the chance, but oh well.To sum up, these are average headsets for average people who have never owned a high quality headset before and don't know what they are missing. They are "good enough", not great. I'd probably be happier with them if they'd not disfigured my ears. I miss my Sennheiser's .

I would have given it a 4 star rating, but overall, it deserved the 3 or maybe a 3.5. I would say that it is an above average gaming headset; the sound quality is very dynamic and clear. Also, my friends have told me that my voice sound has improved (I was using a Razor headset before). Now, I don't want to make this comparative too much, but I will say that the Razor headset was overall more comfortable and although it had slightly hollow sound, the bass was much richer. Anyways, I would recommend this headset if you could afford it at maybe $45? I wouldn't bother paying more for it. It is a great headset, but I felt that I may have gotten less than what I bargained for. Overall, good headset, good sound, good mic quality, but not too comfortable (tight-ish). I hope this helps

I've only had this headset for a week or so but I have to say it's one of the most comfortable headset I have had the pleasure of owning. It also sounds great.I did have some problems. The CD that came with the headphones would not install on my 64bit windows 8 box. I tried downloading the drivers and that also would not install. Windows was able to install something so they do work. Bu the volume is REALLY loud. I have the windows sound down at 1 or 2 most of the time and often have the lower the volume in the flash video or video game I am playing. I don't know if the drivers would have fixed that or not. But I just wish I had more control over the volume. I don't want to go deaf.

One day I was at my friends house and he pulled out a pair of these. Noticing they were Plantronics, I asked him what they were. After telling me it was a gaming headset, I couldn't help myself and had to ask to try them. At first look this headset had a very sleek black design with adjustable headphones and mic. After sitting for about 15 minutes, I knew I had to buy a pair.Being the "scumbag" customer I am, I waited until they went on sale for $45. For that price this has easily been the best headset I've ever owned. The stunning 7.1 Dolby Surround Sound along with the above average mic makes this amazing. Build quality is amazing and I can easily wear these for periods of time (up to 4 hours straight) without my head getting the slightest uncomfortable. If these ever break (which probably won't be for a long time) I would without question buy another.

I was a bit skeptical in looking to purchase headphones of these sorts but I felt through my gaming career, sound is extremely important especially for FPS. I decided to purchase these one's out of the group I researched would be my potential "buy" and I must say, I am not least bit disappointed nor unhappy.The headphones fit well with the addition of comfort that could allow me to use this for hours of gaming. The sound quality is just breath-taking, especially the feature of Dolby 7.1. My experience in gaming was just further enhanced due to these headphones and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new set!

Overall this is a great headset.There are only two real things that bother me about them, First, I have a small head, so I'm used to hats and headphones and stuff fitting loosely, but these squeeze my head enough to hurt after a half hour or so. If I pull the earcups down enough to stop squeezing the headband doesn't sit on my head anymore and the cups push down on my ears.The only other [very minor] gripe is the lack of any eq settings, these sound fine but I would like a bit more bass in games with explosions and stuff.Other than that these sound great, the virtual surround is quite good, and everything works. They are a bit bigger and chunkier than they appear to be in pictures but it's not like you're going to be wearing these out around town much so that's no big deal.

The unit turned out to be a discontinued model, and by Plantronics' own statement, had been in that status for "several years". The headset came in what appeared to be a factory-sealed package with "software included" prominently emblazoned on the front and back, but no software was enclosed. The headset's sound proved impossible to balance without it, and Plantronics no longer makes that software available, not even online.I owned an older Plantronics DSP headset that I liked very much, and wanted to replace it with a similar model, but this wasn't it.In my opinion, Plantronics is the villain in this piece, not the seller. Their lack of support is hard to justify, and the packaging is just plain misleading.

Great headset; easy to reach/change volume control.The piece that fits next to the ear is a velvet-like material, not plastic.If you want to switch from regular speakers to this headset, just plug in the USB port. The wire is very thin and flexible; more flexible than any USB cord I've seen. If you don't want a USB connection, Plantronics makes a 3.5mm stereo jack headset as well (about $10 less). No surround sound on the 3.5mm jack headset, however. I prefer wired headsets because I don't like continual radio waves bouncing against my brain.Looks VERY good; the red is a muted red, makes seeing the USB wire (and not tripping over it!) easy! --If you want a wired USB surround sound headset, this one's the one! ---

Overall, this is a very good headset, at a very good price. The sound is nice, the mic is nice, and I love the controls on the actual set itself, instead of inline. However, it is very tight, and is uncomfortable for extended use. The ear cups are also just a tiny, tiny bit too small. And when I tried to change the tightness of the headset, I pretty much broke them. They weren't lying when they said it was made out of strong stuff (the metal just wouldn't bend!) So, if you have a smallish head, I highly recommend this set. Otherwise, maybe look elsewhere...

Sound quality - good I guessMicrophone - haven't had problems with it but I don't really use itDesign - I seriously can't have them on for more than 10 minutes at a time because they HURT!Overall - This headset is a joke. I have normal shaped ears and it is impossible to put them on comfortably. They are shaped like squares and put pressure on your ears. Because the cushion is shaped like a square and does not fit to your ears, sound leaks out A LOT. People can hear what I'm listening to even if I'm listening at a low volume. And with that, noise-cancellation? Non-existent.Seriously, my ears are IN PAIN if I use these for a long time. I would recommend trying it on for 10 minutes before you consider buying. If you are buying online, don't risk it.
