Almost 6 months ago and i'm loving them. they've never given me a problem and they sound great.They've fallen off my desk a few times and are still intact so that's good!the only quarrel i have with them is that the wire tangles pretty easy, but pretty easy to straighten out, just unplug them and uncoil it.The nice long cable is great and allows me to step away from my computer to my shelves behind me and grab some items.The microphone sound great and have had Zero complaints on the audio quality of my voice.

I've had quite a few headsets over the years and I think this is actually my favorite one. Not because it's only $50, but because it's comfortable, the headset swivels to fit your head perfectly. It sounds amazing, the volume control, mute mic button are convenient. I've had the headset for about 2 weeks now. I'm never buying another headset, sounds like a headset you'd pay 100+ for1 MONTH LATER....Never had any comfort issues, worn it for 5+ hours at a time. EXTREMELY COMFORTABLE, I still can't stress how nice the swivel fits your head, and how I barely realize they are there. The surround sound is a little weird, perhaps because I don't play games like counterstrike which would benefit from surround sound. Comes with a button to turn the surround on/off. Still sounds amazing, love the volume control and mute mic convenience.

The sound on these were pretty great, but they were hard on the head at first. Took a little while to set them in a good position where they would not hurt my head. Also, it seems as though Plantronics likes to make headsets with very weak plastic, because I've had these for about a month and I can already feel the weakness in them. And my previous headset before these, was a Plantronics GameCom 367, those started to break from the sides pretty early on, but I was able to duct-tape them and use them for about a whole year till they just completely snapped.BOTTOM-LINE. These are NOT worth the cost unless you are willing to bare with the uncomfortable design, then end up spending more money for a new headset within a few months again.

I'm sure this will be corrected in time, but I was disappointed to plug these in only to find the dolby surround is not available on windows 8. They aren't as comfortable as my old Microsoft headset. They do feel like they are solidly built and it should last a good many years. Once they update the software, These should rock.Update - March 5, 2013I downloaded the update, but the surround sound makes everything sound like it's in a tin can. I prefer not to use it anyway. Go figure. At any rate, the headphones have held up well over 150 hours of use. I would still recommend these for any gamer.

I work at Best Buy, I have went through many headsets. I wasn't going to buy these until I saw all the reviews and thought I'd risk it. I was very happy to find out they used usb. I put on a song and I was just blown away by the amazing sound quality, Far better than any headset or headphones I've ever even used. First time in my life i'd actually say something is "under-priced"ps- running windows 8

I happened on these in Best Buy (had a gift card to use up). I saw them marked @ $59.99 and being a bit obsessed with headphones and having a problem with my PC motherboard onboard surround audio not working with Win7 due to lack of compatible drivers I thought they were worth a gamble. At about the same time I also ordered a Creative Audigy soundcard on Amazon so I could get the best out of my existing surround speakers again.1st, Price, I got a deal, Red Laser app on iPhone showed them @ $79.99 everywhere else AND at Best Buy, they had a sale tag left up from the previous week and had to honor it!2nd, Value, for the price you get a set of phones that would be perfect for watching a movie on a laptop or even larger screen and getting the full audio impact. The 7.1 surround simulation is surprisingly good. And you get a built in mic for other uses to boot.3rd, Quality, these appear to be very sturdy, plastic headband but it appears to be tough & durable.4th, Sound quality, a bit boomy for music especially with the surround on, but not bad overall. Highs are nice and clean. Awesome for games, Battlefield 3 being my first choice right now. The surround in the games seems very effective. More than once I've had to take these off because I though I heard something somewhere else in the house that was actually from the headphones! Directional sounds seem to be accurate, but I'm still getting used to the game. The bass is exceptional, I do feel like I have a subwoofer running.5th, Comfort, soft pads, a little tight at first but easy to get used to. More comfortable than many other over the head phones.Summary, good sounding, resonably priced, great solution for USB sound & mic in one. Not the prettiest, but fine for home use. I recommend them, perfect for someone with PC sound problems that would like a headphone.

This is my first gaming/mic headset I purchased, looking to use it for music and dictation, so I had no idea this didn't work off the standard audio port. I wrongly assumed all headphones had standard audio ports and thought the USB was additional connectivity. I had no clue some headsets used only USB. Lesson learned. I also missed that it had software and really missed it was Windows compatible. Product Features said nothing about software (the long description did) and certainly didn't mention it would not work on Mac. Since I could not rate the function of the product, my rating accounts my errors and is based on the fact that this did not say in the Product Features section that it functioned only on USB, that it required software, and that the software is only Windows compatible. I'm disappointed. Returning product...

i mostly play skyrim but the 5.1 surround sound is so good it actually sounds like you are in the studio sitting right next to the voice actors, so actually many times i don't have it enabled.i also use it for Saints Row the 3rd multiplayer and voice and sound is high quality.con: no amplifier really to speak of so listening to music isn't as loud as i would like. i have thought about an external amp for a while now so that may be a future purchase.con: feels flimsy kinda cheap build. however since purchase after more than 3 months it still works greatcon: short cord. simple fix get another usb cable.over all great value.

I love this headset! I got it for my birthday and I am very happy with it so far. The surround sound is noticeable, though you do have to adjust your settings quite a bit to get it perfect. The first time I listened to my music, I thought that something was wrong - I just hadn't listened in surround sound before. The headset is also great for Skype calls. I like to be in Skype with friends while playing games like COD or LoL. The mic is very clear, and everyone says they can hear me much better than when I was just using my laptop mic. Very happy with this present!

This product is my first pair of gaming headsets, and im relatively proud to announce how wonderful they sound. These headsets sound great,as good if not better than my skull candy aviators in regards to music. In terms of gaming these sound even better, the surround sound works flawlessly i can easily distinguish direction in bf3,cod, black light retribution. my one gripe with the product is the mic, it's advertised as noise canceling yet, that seems to be the one place where these headsets do not shine. These headsets pickup background noise almost constantly,weather it be a tv in the background, a side conversation going on, or even the barley audible hum of my fancase. The mic is the reason this product gets a 4 out of five instead of a five.

I'm returning them.Cons:+ First thing I noticed was that they were made of cheap plastic. VERY cheap plastic.+ The adjustment thing wasn't very sturdy. It was really easy to accidentally mess it up and you definitely had to re-adjust every time you put them on.+ They weren't very deep. My ears aren't huge, maybe they stick out a tiny bit, but they definitely weren't deep enough for me, which made them sore very quickly.+ Cloth on them is uncomfortable. Not very soft, I'd rather have the material most other headphones are made of.+ The cushions seem hard compared to other headphones.+ Cord wasn't long enough for my me, but that was more of my own fault.You're basically paying for the software that makes these headphones "7.1 surround sound" and not the actual headphones. Sure, the surround sound part was cool for a day, but then you start to notice how the actual headphones aren't so nice. Without the software, the sound quality isn't very good. I don't think I'l buy from this brand again. I tried on a nice pair from best buy for around the same price, and they were made from much better materials and just felt like they were much better quality. I think I'll go back there and see what they have instead.

Owned this headset for 2 months now. The right speaker is already dying, and popping randomly every minute or so. Not very impressive for 60 dollars. Starting the warranty process, but I already see I am going to be on the hook for shipping cost if my claim is accepted. Not a very good way of doing business considering the lack of quality is the only reason the set is going dead. I would look elsewhere, spend a few more dollars, and get something that might actually last. Very disappointed =(.

I didn't notice the surround sound effect until after an few days of constant use. Mainly because it sounds like an echo. It wasn't until I was watching a movie that included big explosions and affects. that I realized that the bass was perfect with the surround on. But while it was off the headset sounded just like any other headset. I would recommend these to people who watch a lot of action or adventure movies. So you can hear the 7.1 surround sound out of the headset.

I agree with most of the positive reviews in here (great sound quality for the price), but thought I'd add that I had some trouble getting the installer to work in Windows 8. Plantronics website wasn't super helpful, but running the compatibility tool fixed it.(Also, all the people who mentioned the extra steps required to get it to actually be in 7.1 - thanks! Way worth it.)So, dropped it a star on this product for not being super clear on the extra steps needed to get full use, as well as for some mild comfort issues (may just be me, but even at maximum looseness, after a couple of hours of gaming, my upper jaw starts to hurt where the earphone is pushing on it.)

I don't want to go on and on so I will just say three things.1) They are great for listening to music because it makes you feel like there are stereos all around you.2) They are great for gaming because of easy access to sound controls include mute.3) They are great for extended sessions of wear because of the comfort and quality of design.Hope this helps to persuade you to buy. :)

I would recommend this to anyone doesn't want to spend a fortune on a headset.I bought a pair of these about a year ago for the purpose of having a gaming headset. I wasn't expecting much because they were really cheap. I was surprised by the quality and comfort in this product. The built in microphone is fantastic. No distortion or fuzzy audio.The audio quality in the earphones are what you would expect. It's adequate for your average gamer or programs like skype.The headset itself if pretty comfortable. I can wear it for hours and forget it's even there. Normally my ears would begin to sweat after extended use, but the cloth in earpieces seem to prevent that.The only con is that headset seems to be fairly fragile. I dropped it 2 feet onto my desk and one of the earphones popped off. Luckily I was able to fix it without problems.A quality product that should last a long time. (Just don't drop it.)

Overall I rate this product a 4.5 out of 5. It has amazing sound and they feel very well built. My only small bother is, when I am browsing online. I'll be browsing youtube I want to use the headphones, I connect them via usb, yet the audio on the browser disappears. I can hear the Window's sounds but nothing on the browser, the only fix to this is to restart the system and opening a new browser window with the headphones already plugged in. The same applies if I am already running any Steam Game and then I want to plug in the headphones. I have to quit Steam, plug the headphones and then start gaming. :/ It can get annoying, but other than this minor flaw (which I hope I am doing something wrong and there is a solution to it), The Headset is a great purchase for the price, build quality and sound performance.

I must say that I was impressed by this headset. The virtual surround sound 7.1 dolby digital actually makes a noticeable difference as opposed to just stereo. The thing I really like about this headset is the usb input it uses instead of the typical mic and headphone output jack. Most computers have more usb ports than mic and headphone ports thus this makes it a really convenient feature. Moreover, the headset features a swivel hinge on both sides that allow the earpiece to be turned 360 degrees. This feature is very useful since there are times one wants to rest the earpieces on their shoulders or table. The headset is very comfortable and has a felt-like material covering the earpads and top of the headset. At first, the headset is a bit tight but that easily becomes loosened over time as I could wear these for a hefty amount of time without feeling any discomfort. The quality of the sound is the real deal here. I play left 4 dead 2, battlefield 3, counterstrike source and Fear 3 regularly and I can tell you that the surround sound is unbelievable. I can hear footsteps, grunting, rain drops, grenade pins being pulled and all those ambient sounds that really bring immersion to the games. I have used razer headsets and this plantronics 780 is better than some of those. Comparably, the price is what makes this headset attractive since it features top notch sound and comfort with affordable price. I cannot say much about the durability but I do know that the older plantronic gamecom headset tended to crack at the head piece. This headset seems to be a bit sturdier and has a more solid feel to the plastic. Lastly, the gamecom drivers and software that come with this headset allows one to switch from gaming/movie mode to music mode in windows. I would highly recommend this headset to anyone out there.

I definitely recommend this headset if you game on PC. The 7.1 works amazingly for music and games. The ear cups feel comfortable and soft. If you need to take a break, just swivel the cups and set them on your shoulders. The mic is high quality, and my cousin and I can hear each other perfectly in Teamspeak and Skype calls.Pros: comfortable, great sound, nice build, light, swivel.Cons: After a while you might feel a slight discomfort in the top of your ears if you wear glasses.Overall I give this headset a 5 star rating because of the pros outnumbering the cons. If you are hesitant to get this headset I would definitely give it a try. The surround sound makes a big difference. Seriously, look no further. For the price, this is one of the best headsets you could buy. Compared it with one my buddies beats by dre. Yeah right, that's all i can say. Sure the bass isn't as deep as on the beats. But everything else soars above. Comfort, sound +10. the environment it puts you in is quite impressive. The 2 inch ear holes creates an auditorium on your head. Not to mention it looks pretty sleek and stylish as well.all in all - don't waste your or your parents 250 dollars on an expensive head set. I recommend getting the 780 here and if you are looking for headphones to use with your ipod, buy the adapter USB to Headphone adapter off amazon i believe it's only 5 bucks.

I bought this headset to replace an old one that was terribly uncomfortable and had just died in the left ear.Pros: This headset is very comfortable. I can play for hours and hours and I kinda stop noticing that I'm wearing them. The 7.1 surround sound isn't some virtual effect; it's actual 7.1 surround. The experience I have while gaming is incredible to say the least. It has a volume slider, mute switch, and surround sound switch (which seems redundant) on the left ear which is really convenient. The CD installed the drivers just fine, though I'm sure there's something newer on the manufacturer's website.Cons: So far, none.What else can I say? Mic quality is good, speakers are amazing, it's built strong, it's comfortable, and it's got nice features. I'm surprised it doesn't cost $25 more than it does. I would recommend this to anyone.

I have been using these pair of headsets for about a month now. They take a couple days to break in, but after those couple of days the headsets felt great. They are surprisingly light for the size. I could literally wear these headsets for hours and hours for gaming without any discomfort. The mic quality is okay; the product says it's a noise canceling mic but it's really not. My friends said they could hear a lot of background noise, etc. However, the mic quality and sound it produces is awesome. The surround sound is amazing and makes such a difference. I tested the surround sound with a few fps's and continuously turned surround sound off and on; you could hear the footsteps, gunshots, and everything else so much more clear with the surround sound on. Plus it sounds a lot more realistic. Overall these are very solid headsets and quite a steal for the price,(50$-60$) They are comfortable, have a good mic, except for the background noise it can pick up.

Mic is the most sensitive I have used in a gaming headset, which is a big plus versus the alternative which is shouting into the mic all the time because there isn't enough gain or the sensitivity is too low. The mic probably won't position ideally near your mouth but it doesn't matter a whit in terms of functionality.Don't leave the mic on all the time though because that's annoying to others, and it will pick up background noise like the tv on fairly well. PTT all the way.Comfort. Circumaural earcups works fine for me. They are a bit clunky and somewhat heavy. Overlarge headsets can induce clausterphobic feelings of having your head crushed and brain juices squeezed to feed an overlarge head muff monster. If it's already warm in the room they will hold in the heat even more. Plantronics should take a cue from the HiFi comunity regarding comfort.Sound quality. Really good actually. The surround sound encoding makes everything 3D sounding. Turning it off and voices sound like they are recorded in a small booth when they shouldn't. I don't notice it a huge deal when I am using it but I definitely miss it when I am not. Like watching a 3D movie.If I must have stellar listening enjoyment I go: digital out>outboard DAC>3-way reference mains/dual sub>treated room>ideal time/phase listening position. For few hours gaming session 780s do the deed.

These allow me to easily switch back and forth between listening to music and making calls through skype.Sound quality is good for the price, although it is a little thin.Biggest issue is that they are LOUD (too loud), you need to turn down the volume in your apps or it will knock you down with volume

Would not recommend. The square shape is for square people I guess although I have never met anyone with square ears so I can not ask them if they think these fit better. The pads that are suppose to go around the ear are tiny so they end up floating as the headphones are resting on your ears by the speakers. Very plasticy feel to all the motion components. Cannot even tell you how the sound or microphone quality is as I don't want to subject my ears to these things for long enough to find out. Spend the extra money and get something that is comfy.

This being my first venture into USB headsets, I was rather hesitant to make the jump. It was between this and a similar Logitech one, both had a good rating and sound quality; the difference being the price and features. I ended up going with this one just because the price at the time was too good to pass up, and I don't regret that decision at all, I just wish it had a few of the feature the Logitech one had. That is pretty much the only reason I can't give it 5 stars. Other then that it has great quality and is pretty comfy, all in all a great headset.

Ive had these for around a year now. The sound quality is really very nice. They are very comfortable and I strongly recommend them.The only precaution I want to note is that these "earmuff" style headphones are different than the ones that just sit on the outside. they cancel some outside noise and make it difficult to talk to people and control the volume of my voice, especially when talking over the loud game noises.

Was very surprised of the sound quality these produce. You can hear people or vehicles coming from behind and footsteps very clearly. Haven't watched a movie but have put some hours on these with gaming and i must say, for the price I absolutely love them. (NOTE) I don't know if its just my computer but every time I plug them back in i have to go into settings and adjust them from 5.1 to 7.1.

My friend had previously let me try these for regular gaming and I immediately knew that these would be perfect for horror games. With the dolby having a little tray icon you don't always have to have the surround sound on which is better for normal listening. But when it is enabled, it really does give eerie echos and good overall sound. The location of sound is also spot on. My only complain is that its sort of weirdly shaped. My ears don't fit inside of it, and its square, not rectangle or oval. But its sturdy and it has good sound and the price was good for the quality. I've already recommended it.

I liked em for a while... then the microphone went out, no talkie. I emailed and filled out the return forms on page. Sent in my amazon receipt. I get an email back that we do not accept that receipt. So I emailed again.. angry man now. Next guy says, ok we will honor it, but you have to mail it back at your own expense.While I am at it, the cord from the headset to USB, is way short and gets tangled really easy. If I was buying a decent headset again, I would avoid this company.

Pros: Great Sound quality with extremely deep base and good separation of the sound in surround mode.Cons: They are really tight on my head. I'm hoping they loosen up after I've used and stretched them a bit. Also, the square ear pad is a little short to fit around my ear fully.Set-up suggestions: I didn't realize until I really messed with the settings that you need to go into the Windows playback properties and tell Windows it is 7.1 surround. It defaulted to 5.1 when I first installed. Other than that little tip, this headset was pretty easy to get going.

This is definitely a bang for your buck type of headset. If you want great sound quality and for a good price, this would be my #1 recommendation. Where else can you get a 7.1 surround sound headset for below $60? The only thing I really have an issue with is cleaning it. The ear cushion is made of a fabric that is attractive to dead skin or any other debris and cleaning it is very hard because they stick on there. Only way I could clean it was lint rollers. Aside from this issue, the headset is great!

The sound quality is amazing! However, I bought these for gaming and I need a decent microphone. Using Ventrilo and Skype, the other people in my group would always complain about my poor voice quality. In addition to my voice being low, a weird electrical buzzing noise accompanied everything I said. It's a software problem, and one I doubt Plantronics will fix any time soon.

These have great sound and can be very loud when you want them to be. I've had a little difficult with them connecting to windows and being the default device but that's probably on my end. My only complaint is that they fit very tight to the point they give me a slight headache when I wear them longer then 20 minutes, this could be because I have a giant head.

It's fairly cheap and works, I can't ask for more. The sound is great for me. I can listen to my music ( or games or chatting ) and hear everything clearly. Inline adjustable volume helps to keep it from being to noisy or too low. The mic adjusts for the right speaking angle for your mouth and it also folds back out of the way when not in use. All in all, a great purchase.

I still don't know how the can make sound come from behind or in front of you with just 2 speakers, but it's great for my online FPSs - now I can hear where the jets are and where bullets are coming from. The effect isn't as pronounced as if I truly had speakers surrounding me, but it works and the sound quality is excellent. Like others recommended, get the driver from the Web site, don't use the CD. This is a great bargain.

This is an excellent headset. Great comfort, love the control aspects (music or gaming). I thought the microphone wouldn't work so well because it sticks out quite a ways from your mouth. It sits well off to the side, but after making repeated calls via Skype and Vonage, I found that the persons I talked to could hear me loud and clear. I really like the way the ears are completely covered comfortably. This is like, the third headset I have tried and without question I would recommend these to anyone. Great price, fast delivery, Amazon has done it again!

got this headset on sale, for ~50 if i remeber correctly. great sound, and the option to toggle on and off dolby is great very comfortable just about everywhere, but sometime my ears hurt because of how the phones have to sit on them. I have big ears though.the swivel on the phones is great and very sturdy unlike some other headsets, like a turtle beach headset i had, which snapped twice at the swivel.Having every control on the left ear I thought would be awkward, but has actually turned out to be wonderful for me.

I wasn't sure about getting this headset. However, I checked out the reviews, saw the price, and decided to take a chance.This was a very good purchase! Like a previous reviewer said, make sure you configure your headset to do 7.1 sound (if that's what you are looking for). The bass isn't booming - however, I don't want it to blow out my eardrums. I just wanted good quality sound. Audio is very clear and has been a great headset for gaming (sounds great in Battlefield 3).

The 780 is very comfortable, I forget that I'm wearing them while I'm gaming. The surround sound quality is amazing! I use them exclusively when listening to music on my PC. I would have given them 5 stars except the software included doesn't appear to work at all and my PC doesn't even see the headset with it installed. But they work great just plug and play. The microphone is possibly too sensitive, very little noise but will pick up the slightest whisper. You'll need to tweak the settings in any chat software you use. This is my first gaming headset,but I'm totally happy with it.

Великолепно

Best gaming headset. My choices were a Razor Megladon or Steel series Siberia and this one won out. The sound is clear with good highs, mids and lows. The mic quality is great. It has noise reduction. Headset is extremely comfortable for extended gameplay (12 hours plus). In 7.1 mode you can hear the direction of where people are coming from for 1st shooter games and when you use Ventrilo it sounds like a heavenly creature is speaking to you. This is a must buy for anyone looking for a great gaming headset.

I bought these for my husband for Christmas because they had solid reviews and were running on black Friday special. He likes them a lot and I am very happy with his apparent pleasure in them. He wears them almost any time he is on the computer and i can watch shows or listen to music nearby and he can still hear what he's doing but also can hear the outside world enough to know weather I need something or say something. He'll now even converse with his online video gamers....or at least listen to what they are babbling about. He was most excited though that he can now skype family on the computer.

-__- a friend bought them for me because i didn't have any for our group chats and now well i'm back to square one. i thought they were really neat and all. but i guess their look even neater in my trash can and now i'm gonna have to tell my friend these headsets are no good and are dead. lucky for the trash can it won't be lonely tonight. thanks Plantronics you made my trash can a lot trashier and happier...

Великолепно

I had the older model for over 3 years and the mic quit working. I like the comfortability of the Plantronics headsets. The 780 sounds great and is perfect for those guy's like me who Flightsim and talk to VATSIM ATC. Noise cancelling mic, with great Dolby sound.I highly recommend them and Amazon is where you will only find the best price. I ordered them and they were at my home in 2 day's.

Do a search online for 780 reverse audio and you will see hundreds of people complaining about audio switching in the ear cans. There has been no fix from planatronics, no driver update. I thought I would try to play through, but literally every game you need to stop reconfigure and reset the headset to get the audio in the proper ear. This is a driver/software issue.The product itself is good, sound quality is very good and the surround sound when working in the proper ear works well. 2 stars for a faulty product with zero support,

Ужасно

Thought these came with a mini plug to make full use of my sound cards 7.1 output. Sorely mistaken and gave these USB only to my roommate since that was a BIG negative on my own part for not noticing that in the description.Live and learn to comprehend ALL the description of a product before hitting purchase button...

Pros:Very comfortableMic works very well - my friends on skype can hear me perfectly, and it's nice that it can swing up out of the wayConvenient volume and mute controls on the right ear budCons:I don't know if this is a headphones issue or a computer issue, but I have to have the volume on literally the lowest setting. For some reason, baseline for the headphones is incredibly loud.Neutral:These headphones aren't particularly great for serious music listeners. But for chatting and typical use, it works great.

This is my first 'gaming headset' and I am incredibly happy with it. The 7.1 surround sound quality is amazing and the mic picks up every word I say, even when I mumble, without picking up ambient noise (unless the stereo is blaring). The headset is comfortable and fits really well, even on my sized 7 1/2 - 8 head.I saw a review where someone mentioned the 'poor quality' of this item and that the plastic had broken 'under normal use.' That person either had a head much larger than my own (hard to believe)... or they don't know how to use a pair of headphones. The plastic is very flexible and I think you would have to actually try in order to break this headset. I can't see how they would break under normal use.TL;DR: 5/5 Would buy again.
