macbook pro 15inch cp with bootcamp running windows xp professional have mic issues. So it doesnt matter what you plug in, the mics on the windows side dont function properly. Also the mic on the mac side with the headset doesnt work, but there is already a mic built into your mac so that doesnt matter.

The first thing I noticed, right out of the box was the size, and the, uhm, remarkable looks of these bad boys. Really, these phones fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down. Don't get me wrong--I like a full-size can. I've worn my share of David Clark H10-13x headphones on the job, so it's not like I'm afraid big ugly cans. This set, though, made my gourd look twice as big as it is. Freakishly big headphones. Lighter weight and more comfortable than your oldschool aviation cans. No active noise cancellation, I don't believe, contrary to other reviews. Whatever noise is being cancelled is no doubt due to the giant foam earmuff that's surrounding your ear and half of your head.Who cares, though, if it's good for listening. If only it were good for listening. These headphones, I had intended to use for music occasionally (backup to my primary), and for skype (as primary). While they'll do the trick for skype, music is out of the question. No bass sensitivity to speak of, just a burnt-out rumble like cheap car speakers, and the midrange is awful tinny. So don't get your hopes up for music. I guess if you like to hear a lot of thumping sounds when you're gaming, these are good to go. Me, I'm not a big gamer. Probably I should have gotten an old trusty Koss set instead.pros--Light weight for the size, microphone seems ok for skype, comfy enoughcons--Ginormous geeky looking clunkers with little value added for all the ugly they threw in. Yikes.3 stars because they do function, but dang, you could do so much better.

These are a very good deal for the thirty odd dollars I paid. The sound quality is great for a headset in this price range, but after trying these I would rather buy a headset in the 45-60 dollar range. If you don't wear glasses, these are very comfortable. Right now I'm using the Sennheiser 151 that sit on my ears, and I rest my glasses on top of the phones. Overall, these are a good deal if you don't want to spend that much.

Very good headset - it is light, the sound is high-quality, the quality seems to be solid. I am using it for conference calls connected to my Polycom office phone.My only complaint is the absence of voice feedback - when a person talks she expects to hear some of her own voice, especially in wrap-around well-isolated headphones. Probably, this problems belongs more to the phone itself rather than the headset...

I use this headset for virtual flying games, IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, Microsoft FSX, and FPS games like Call of Duty. I use the headset for communicating with squad mates while flying or shooting and it helps to keep the noise level down in the house when the action gets a little busy. It also helps pinpoint where a sound is coming from in FPS games so there's a better chance of telling if someone is coming from behind. Overall, a good headset that is reasonably comfortable and has good sound and microphone.A couple of downsides that I see are: the wires from the headset are small and seem a little fragile, so I try to be careful connecting/disconnecting; the boom mic has a tendency to sag downward and I sometimes have to reposition it. I added a spot of silicone under the swivel part of the boom that is attached to the earpiece and it sort of helps the boom to stay put.

I've had these for 4 days and they weren't worth the price. Anyone in the house can hear what you're listening to, the sound is poor, the cloth ear pieces are unnatural, feels cheap. Bleh find something better.

These headphones are comfortable after you break into them. The sound quality is OK for the price. The Bass is good, nothing amazing, but good. They can be a bit tight at first but they loosen up after a few uses.4/5 stars. A really good buy when on sale.

I bought this headset for use with an online class. It worked great! No problems with it and it was simple to begin using. It was comfortable to wear and the people listening to me in class could hear me VERY well. I tried a different headset for an earlier class and this one blew it out of the water! I would highly recommend this for anyone.My only concern is the foldable aspects of this headset. It seems to be working fine right now and I have folded it up everyday after using it. It does fold up neatly and is easy to store in a small space. I just hope that it continues to stay strong as this would seem to be the place that these headphones would break. We will see, but I am very pleased currently. Plantronics makes great headsets!

I like this headset for 3 reasons1) They are extremely comfortable2) They sound great3) They look coolWarning: If you are going to buy this headset for using on a PS3, don't. i bought it for that reason and i can only get the sound for other people talking through the headphones. I could not get the game sound to go through it.

If it was still working I would give 5 stars. Sound and mic is great, easy to use just plug into usb port. So very comfortable. One of the best usb headsets I have had. But after 3 weeks of use, it just stopped working. Dont know why, computer said "usb device not recoginzed this device not working properly". I checked connections, checked usb plug, tried a different port, tried a different computer. Nothing. Manufacturer's website no help at all. Had to go buy another headset, different brand, at a local office supply store.

Hmmm... they aren't the greatest headphones ever, but i really like this headset.-Microphone is Very Clear-Very Comfortable-Sound Could be DisagreeableVery Comfy for a closed ear design. Beforehand, i had read many reviews about these "pressing down" on your head and your ears not being fully enclosed leading to some good amount of discomfort. Its true, this headset does press down on your head the first time you wear them; but after a while they seem to relax and become very comfortable to wear. Ears shouldn't be a problem either, i used to be that dopey big eared kid on the block and these fit nicely over my behemoth ears. Also the pic is a bit misleading the ear-cups look like some sort of hard scratchy foam, its actually an uber comfortable velvet material.The sound is perfect for gaming, It's very sharp and crisp and can get very, very loud. That aside, while these are cool for trying to find hidden snipers, these are not cool for general music. Bass suffers and so do some Mid Tones, which you'll notice right away. Minus a star for that.The Mic is possibly the best part. The sound is simply awesome. If what you're looking for is a Good/Loud/Clear sounding mic, this is an option. I bought a second pair for a friend and we were both awed by how clear these were.They're OK, worth it if you can get them on sale.

This product works extremely well and it's compact!The microphone does a great job picking up my voice and not much else. No need to worry about background noises, thankfully.The sound also works quite well. I've used this headset for watching movies, talking on mic, and playing games.The one problem I have had with it, however, is every so often the connectors to the sound switch (where you change the volume or mute your mic) comes unscrewed ever so slightly. This causes the headset to not work properly and adds a TON of static. It can be easily fixed by simply screwing it back on, but it is annoying at times and took me a while to figure out what was going on.

I tried a few differed headphones before sticking with these. They are really lightweight (translation: comfortable). Previous attempts (including a different plantronics model) were uncomfortable because (1) they squeezed my ears or (2) they used a wrap-around feature that pressed in the back of my head if I wanted to lie (lay?) down.The sound quality is surprisingly good. Watched a recorded HD program on my computer yesterday and was blown away by the sense of immersive sound.I plugged the headphones in using the USB adapter - connected easily (if you have problems with the headphones switching off the speakers, shut the program that you're using (e.g. web-browser, WMC) down and restart after plugging in the headphones).I wanted to extend the length of the headphone cord, so I simply plugged in a USB extension cord... worked perfectly.I haven't tried the microphone for voice recognition yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's as good as the headphones.Seems to be a great price for what you get. The headphone plastic looks a little flimsy - the sort of plastic that looks like it could get snapped easily, so if you plan to fold these up and shove them in and out of a bag whilst traveling, you might want to be aware of that potential weakness.

This hooks to a Macbook Pro via USB. No errors and all sound is very clear.The build quality is not rock solid, but if you do not step or sit on them there should be no problems. I've been using them since August 2010 with no issues at all.Nice how they fold into a size saving shape. Plug and play; easy.

I bought this because I was going to be training a group of people all day every day for a few weeks. The headset has great quality and is comfortable, though after several hours it begins to hurt my ear right at the top. If I adjust it slightly, it feels better and I can continue wearing it the rest of the day.The sound quality was wonderful.

I purchased these headphones to cancel out background noise. And based on the reviews I read, this "closed ear" style would do just that.The reality is that I get very good quality sound when there's some audio coming into the headphones, but it doesn't block out any other outside noise.I use them for phone calls and listening to music, and the quality is good on both. The biggest drawback is how ridiculous I look with the Princess Leia-sized headphones.-----Update two months later - the microphone broke, so now I can only use it as a headset. The sound is still great, but I can't use it as a phone headset ... and I still look like an idiot with this huge thing on my head. Plantronics won't let me replace it with a model that would work better -- just another one of the same. Not worth the shipping.

Dangerous. Very, very dangerous. This packaging cannot be readily overcome with a pair of heavy kitchen shears. To even try to open the package with a knife or scissors is just inviting frustration and hazard. Plan to devote your time to a concentrated effort with a razor (utility knife). Work on a protected surface, as you will have to cut through two separate layers of heavy plastic before you begin to free the headset from the packing tape used to secure it to the cardboard. Pulling the headset, even slightly, presents a high degree of risk of ripping the very fine wires to the microphone and ear pieces free, an impossible situation to repair.The packaging folks at Plantronics have taken the field to an entirely new level. Anti-consumerism on steriods. Its hard to imagine they are unaware that simply opening their product puts their customers in a situation that could be so frustrating. Frustration leading to impulsivity leading to injury.No doubt, their corporate position is that packaging doesn't sever tendons, customers do.

I purchased these to use with our Asus mini netbook. They came with no explanation of how to use them and no mention that you need another $30 switch to use this with your home computer without a hassle. I did a test run with my pc using the provided USB part and had trouble unplugging them and using the external speakers to listen to music afterwards. You have to turn off the computer and turn it back on after you use the headset. Yesterday I tried again, using the two plugs without the USB. This time when I unplugged, the speakers worked and I was happy....untill I tried to make another call and now there's mic. This may be a great product for people who are tech savy, but not for those of us who find it a mystery.The headset worked great. I could hear very clearly the person on the other side. Mom was amazed that I was talking on the computer, she said "it's better than your old phone."Bottom line, I won't be using them with the netbook. Who knows what it will do when the headset gets unplugged.

So far so good. Bought this for work and really like it. works well with Cisco IP phone and Google Talk. Somewhat difficult to configure on Ubuntu but that's probably a function of the OS support for it.

So far so good after 2 months. Needed a new headset after the one I bought from Skype shorted in one ear after only a month of use. I trust Plantronics. I've bought items from them in the past and they seem to be consistent. Worth the investment. Hard to keep on my small head though. As I become more successful maybe my head will grow into them. LOL

Overall not a bad headset especially for the price. Plug and play right out of the box on my Macbook Pro. They weren't the most comfortable though. When I bought them the ear peaces looked deep enough to cover my ears without putting pressure on my ears. Unfortunately it wasn't though. After long periods of wearing them my ears and head would be uncomfortable/hurting a little.

I bought these to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking, which has been a horrendous product to work with. I used three different headsets with it, so I knew it wasn't a headset issue.I decided to try them with Windows Speech Recognition (it came with my computer in the Ease of Access part of the Accessories folder). They are amazing! They pick up every word with 99% accuracy, the only time I see a difference in accuracy is if I'm tired (I must not speak as clearly as it usually recognizes).What they don't pick up is the background noises that you don't want interferring with your document. I use these with my desktop PC and recently bought a second pair to use with my laptop. They work just as perfectly. If you're looking for an easy to use, easy to transport headset for speech recognition software, these are the ones!

Apart from the tough packaging i liked the product very much(once i got it out that is!). The build quality is strong and sturdy and it kinda has a nice feel to it. i wont say its perfect for hardcore gamers planning to go at it for more than three hours or so. All in all its a good piece of gaming headphone considering u r paying a lot less than most other gaming headphones out there.

Bought this for playing games and use it on my desktop about three or four nights a week for a couple hours at time. The sound quality is OK and it's fairly comfortable in comparison to some "over-the-ear" models I've had in the past. It seemed like decent headset for the price but then two months in to using them the microphone stopped working. Very disappointed.

Does exactly what I need. I use this for conference calls on my computer. Far better than using a phone w/computer speakers. More private and the muting and volume controls are excellent. I even use it to listen to music, though it is not audiophile quality, and for games when I don't want to blast my speakers.

I have had ongoing headset problems because of my progressive hearing impairment. Originally I purchased the Plantronics Foldable USB Stereo Headset intending to use it on my laptop with DNS 10. I decided to try it out with my desktop PC to see if it gave me better sound quality than the headset I have been using. In one word: WOW!! I can now hear clearly my DVDs, audio CDs, internet radio, etc. The volume range is much wider than I need and the clarity is wonderful, even without using my hearing aids. This is an unexpected plus.Note: It took a bit of gentle experimenting to learn how to fold and unfold the headset. I now store it in a zip-loc bag when it is not in use to avoid tangling wires.

When i put this head set on for the first time, compared to my old one, i noticed a huge difference. The headphones hug your ear and do a very good job at canceling out sound. Everything sounds quiet and all i can hear is the usual ringing in my ears. But it might work a little too well when your trying to talk because you voice fills your head. But coming from a set that doesn't have the padding around the ear, its probably something you just have to get use too. I'm no expert on sound quality, but i think these are adequate for sound. The bass decent for a headset.Random things:The mic, it works great. I use it when i game and it picks up my voice very well. Make sure you play around with the positioning of it.Glasses, i wear glasses and this headset is comfortable with them. I wear thin frame glasses. So the thicker ones might have issues.In general, i like this headset. It cancels noise out a lot more then my own set. Build quality is there. These look like they are worth 40$. I like the "high" and "low" settings for the mic. It can come in handy. This is a great headset for anyone that needs one and on the cheap. Highly recommended.(P.S. Don't play a video/song before checking the volume wheel on the control thingy on the wire. It comes with it all the way turned up. Hurt like getting drilled in the ear. When i played some hardcore techno. D:)

It's not the best quality sound out there, especially compared to noise-canceling headsets, but it gets the basic job done. Woks for my Skype calls and Rosetta Stone software. And I like that you can use it as a USB headset and also as a regular headset by unplugging the audio cable from the USB adapter.

Piece of junk, DSP/USB unit sticks out and is flimsy, leading to imminent breakage. I have bought Plantronics headsets for 10 years for work and home but after two of these broke in a matter of months, I'm done with the company.I'm switching to a Sennheiser unit: Sennheiser PC 166 USB Stereo Multimedia Gaming Headset. It's triple the price but sometimes you get what you pay for and Plantronics isn't getting any more of my money.
