While replacing my miserable Skybeam service and going back to Qwest DSL, my biggest apprehension was the quirky and problematic ActionTec modem provided by Qwest. Well, the Netgear DGN2000 is a great answer to that. The modem setup quite easily using Qwest's CD via the "Other Modem" option. I have found it quite full featured for a consumer router, including 4 configurable wireless access point names.

I had this router for over two years and it ran flawlessly. Never any problem. Netgear was also great about customer support when I had a little trouble understanding how to set it up. They talked me right through and I had it working in about a half hour. The router even outlasted my laptop. Unfortunately, I ended up replacing it with a desktop and no longer needed the router.

This is an incredibly difficult product to review. The good:It works exactly as it should. It is a 5GHz N wireless access point. It's product description states exactly what it is. It's range is enormous. I can still detect my home network from halfway down the street. I never get disconnects. It is really, really fast. In network transfers are just as fast as cat5.The bad:1. It's not a router. It's an access point. You don't have much control of the devices behind the AP.2. It's 5GHz. There's not a lot of stuff that operates at 5GHz. Make sure that you look for products that say "dual band".3. There's no 802.11b or g support. It only supports 802.11a @ 2GHz and 802.11n @ 5GHz.So, if you take out those three things - NONE OF WHICH IT CLAIMS TO BE - then this product is great. My final review is a (3). The things that it does, it does very well. But you will probably be disappointed because of the things that it does not have.

Bought this for a small office. We host a mail server and VPN server and use a moderate amount of bandwidth. This router cannot handle it. With the firewall enabled, it simply gets overwhelmed and will crash or reset the WAN every hour or so. Avoid unless you are positive you have very light usage requirements, and frankly if that's the case you could get a much cheaper, lower end router and be fine. Honestly, there is no target market that this router satisfies and it should not exist unless they are going to upgrade the processor/memory and/or fix the software issues which are limiting its performance.

Yeah, it was a pain in the !@#$ to install, and the poor tech guys from India took a long time to figure out the problem (I also experienced the frequent re-boot problem), but its been working rock solid since then for almost 3 years now. I only reboot if the power goes out. The range is why I baught it, much better than the competition at the time, although I'd guess there are better products available now. I'll keep using this until it dies, since mine is very quick and still has good range. I also used VOIP successfully for 2 years without a hitch.

This product has great features and easy setup, along with plenty of ports to connect to (8) which is especially good for a home network with lots of connections. Problem is that the interface seems buggy and sometimes the system does not respond to changes (i.e. mac address access list additions) without rebooting. Sometimes the wireless network drops out entirely. Not too often, but often enough for me to look for another more stable solution. I'm doing web development from home and have vonage ip phone where a stable internet connection is a must. This review is based on the v2 version of the product.

I tried to use the Installation Wizard and it kept erroring, indicating the router is not compatible with th hardware. I had to manually setup the router, spending over 1 hour with the technical support team. Do yourself a favor, call technical supoort early in the troubleshooting effort and you will save yourself a lot of time. The great news is that the speed for paging on the internet is WOW and I have not had any dropped connections. My customers are loving the speed and stability too!

Luckily, the particular one I prchased presented me with: a Constant Once per Second BLINK from the POWER LED. The Installation Guide refers to this as a "CORRUPTED FIRMWARE" issue. You are then refered to a "Reference Manual" and given a link to Netgear Support, that's a DEAD LINK by the way. The Support Site was down for several days. (yes, I tried the site from another computer with proper internet access and the Netgear Support site was still down)FRUSTRATION LEVEL: HIGH NORMALSo now Tech Support would help me, no? Dialed 1-888-NETGEAR, ring, ring, ring, ring, and on and on...... Hello? Nothing. In the distance, the AP BLINKS IN GREEN ONCE PER SECOND.Wait! The Netgear Support site is up! So let's try the search for the "Reference Manual", copying the exact name of the needed material from the Installation Guide. OK, good, hit search..... 11,000 search results, none of them involving the "Reference Manual" in question.FRUSTRATION LEVEL: HYPERTENSION 1So let's call that Tech Support number again.... Yes! An automated system, and here we go off to TECH SUPPORT. Or not. Somebody is talking about their lunch and mentions they need a sweater, and they hang up.So let's try again. OK an automated system, and again off to Tech Support. This time, a good solid affirmation that I made it through.... Yes hello Raam, nice to meet you. We then get through the formalities and alas, I can tell somebody about the constant Once Per Second Blink from the Power LED.They promptly mention they'll need to find the "Reference Manual" needed for "EMERGENCY RECOVERY" of the AP. I'm placed on hold, and then I'm informed that the "Reference Manual" is nowhere to be found. So I thank them, and hung up the phone.FRUSTRATION LEVEL: HYPERTENSION 2However I DID FIND the PACKAGING MATERIALS for the item, and ceremoniously unplugged the AP. If the Once Per Second "CORRUPTED FIRMWARE" Blink is still signaling, It can do so @ the FRY'S Electronics next to Burbank Airport.Caveat emptor, Caveat emptor.......

I have purchased not one, but two NetGear wireless routers in a little more than two years. Conveniently, both routers bit the dust shortly after the one-year warranty expired. NetGear's business model appears to be based around shoddily made goods, and they're betting that the suckers who buy them will pony up the cash for customer service, or will, exasperated, give up and buy new equipment. Either way, it seems insane that anyone should have to replace their router every damn year.

I received this antenna shortly after ordering it. It works fine. I was somewhat surprised that no installation disk was provided but I was able to download the necessary drivers from the internet and am very pleased with the result. This anetenna has to pick up a signal from about 300 feet away and the signal must travel through two window panes before reaching the antenna. It does a fine job. The only thing I notice is that the antenna does run a little hot. I guess this is normal.

The router did not setup easily in my case. Netgear support was surprisingly good and the setup cd has the options to configure the router properly. BUT unless you're very experienced expect to spend more than an hour configuring your unit's security. There is no written setup documentation with the device. My unit has been working great (once we made it through the setup and configuration) for a couple of weeks. I am concerned about the ventilation. The unit runs hotter than others I have used before (att standard equipment and linksys). Hopefully, it will have a reasonable life. Without wasting a lot of words this Router works as advertised. Securing the net was a little tricky as the CD program did not work on my computer Vista 64bit. But like every other router I have had before doing it manually was not a problem. The Wireless-N gigabite router works great wireless with my laptop and itouch.I am very satisfied so far after a couple of months of operation it has never had to be rebooted. It seems to have a larger area of coverage them any of my older routers and when running on N it is vert fast, I connect my main computer wireless through this router and it is faster than when hardwired on large downloads. So I like it very much, and I even forget it is in the line, because it is so trouble free. This router seems a step above the cheaper basic units I purchased before. It costs a little more, but perhaps it worth it in the long run.

This adapter was tested on two PCs - A Compaq Evo N610c (work-issued) and a Compaq SR1230NX (home), where both run XPSP2, and so far the following issues have come to light:1) Full 108Mbps performance is possible only when I set my router (Netgear WGT624) to "108Mbps only" which precludes using other adapters. Auto-sensing the router drops the connection to 54Mbps tops. Since most of my traffic goes to the Internet through a cable modem, full 108 is not yet a necessity. Those who have a lot of traffic inside the LAN - such as pushing video files to various rooms - might want to shop for a more robust solution.2) On the SR1230NX, connection is at best temporary when using any of the front USB 2.0 ports. The only usable connection is with the back USB ports, which I thought were also 2.0, but which the adapter (or XP) claims are not. The message in Windows states, "This device could perform faster..." - so far my research indicates a USB driver issue. Other devices such as memory sticks, gamepads, cameras (Panasonic camcorder, HP digital camera, and Logitech webcam), and Olympus audio recorder work fine on the front ports. The Evo laptop doesn't have this problem.3) On either system, regardless of the port used, connections die in minutes when using WPA-PSK. WEP works OK.4) It doesn't work consistently on the SR1230NX if plugged in hot. If plugged in with power off, it's OK. This "feature" wasn't tested on the Evo. The installation procedure specifies plugging in the adapter with the power off, so that will be the future MO.5) So long as the above conditions are satisfied, the Smart Wizard works OK. If knowing your connections stats in real-time is important, Smart Wiz is superior to the standard XP Wireless Connection Wizard, which reports 108Mbps regardless of true connection speed. If you don't need it or RAM is tight, the XP Wiz is fine.Once I satisfy the above conditions, the WG111T runs as well as my wired 100M Ethernet connection, which I've disabled. The WG111T's performance has convinced me that all of my future PC/console/media center installations will use wireless. Now it boils down to which stuff installs the easiest and works the most reliably.Addendum 2007-01-30 -I have since switched back to auto-sense speed on my router because I have other devices -- namely a D-Link DCS-900W wireless webcam -- that only runs at 54 Mbps. That of course drops the max speed of my WG111T to 54 Mbps. So far that hasn't affected the performance of my online gaming relative to using a wired connection.I decided not to update the USB drivers for my PC. I'm shopping for a new PC and my current one will probably become a home-grown DVR, so it will probably be rebuilt in Linux anyway.About the only other observation worthy of note is that when the PC is powered down, along with the Belkin USB hub to which it is attached, the WG111T seems to remain energized. At least the blue LED keeps flashing. Detaching and reattaching the WG111T fixes the issue. I didn't verify whether it was emitting RF in its' "PC off" state.Addendum 2007-09-14The WG111T quit working about a month ago. I replaced it with an Ativa USB, the Office Depot store brand. I already had a good experience with it on another PC (my P4 gaming rig - the SR1230NX now serves as an auxiliary). Amazon carries some Ativa merch, but not the USB Wi-Fi adapter as of 9/14. The Ativa is cheap (about $25 retail) and so far it's been the most reliable of all adapters tried. I have two complaints - it's substantially bigger than any USB Wi-Fi adapter I've seen (so it may not be suitable for portables) and the connection manager is a CPU hog - the standard Windows network utility works much better.

We can pick up signals on all three floors and streaming video and voice is excellent. This is by far the best wireless router that I've ever used. One of our adapters is a Netgear 108Mbps PCI adapter and the other is a USB adapter plugged into a laptop. Over the years I have tried at least 20 different routers (mostly Linksys and D-Link) and this is the one that we are planning to keep as long as it works. The lighting scheme is nice to look at with the lights off. Netgear really did it this time.

Okay...well...first let me say I'm not real handy setting up computer things..so when the reviews said it was 'easy' to set up I thought "hey! I can do 'easy'." It took two hours on the phone with tech support ( in some foreign country...thick, difficult to understand accent) before 'we' were able to get it up and running with our computers. Once it was set up, it worked for a few months, then just quit one day. I didn't have it in me to do another two hours on the phone trouble shooting, so I bought AT&T's wireless router and hooked it up, ( in about 20 minutes) and it's been working fine ever since. Also...the blue flashing light is annoying if it's in or near where you sleep at night.

All of my other wired and wireless devices work fine, too.I did get it on sale from a store as it cost as much (or less) than a cat-5e cable I was going to get instead. As I just purchased this, it appears that Netgear has solved most of the problems that some earlier purchasers had.

I now had this router for almost 2.5 months and as some other reviews reported I also ran into multiple issues for wireless connection drops and unable to connect. All these problems started after I had this router for more then 30 days so I couldn't simiply return it and hence need to find a workaround/fix. This router worked flawlessly for first 30 days but when I changed my appartment I ran into so many problems I thought of just dumping this into garbage and getting linksys but then I refused to give up my $120 without a flight. In order to fix the problem I did the following1. Installed lastest updates for my router.2. Installed lastest wireless adapter drivers on both of my laptops.3. Reduced the MAX router speed from 300Mbs to 145Mbs (http://192.168.1.1 => Wireless Setting)4. Tried choosing different Channels until I found 1 where my wireless connection got stable.Since performing all the above steps I didnt faced any problems whatsoever but I can only use half of the speed allowed on Wireless N. To my understanding problem seems to be that when you use setting for 300Mbs rounter has to use as many as 5 channels at the sametime and chances of conflict with another network become very high. Hope this helps someone going through the same issues as mine.Just to add to this I also had linksys 310 N router for 2 weeks before I switched to netgear and the reason for the switch was that I only got 130 Mbs connection speed v/s 300Mbs allowed so I decided to give a try to netgear.

I too had a poor experience with this device. There are a LOT of updates and fixes available for the problems described by the other reviewer, but unfortunately they are only available for the "V2" device. Amazon shares part of the blame for the problem since I ordered my device WELL after the V2 released but Amazon sent me one of the "old stock" V1 devices. After performing all possible V1 updates, tuning, tweaks, etc. I was ready to return the device. I decided that I would give the V2 firmware a try (yes, it may void your warranty, but if the device is an absolute piece of trash anyway...)The "good news" is that the V2 firmware loaded just fine and performs "as advertised" - just no warranty. DDNS actually works for me with the V2 firmware, and all my VPN tunnels also all work without any issues. My device is used in a light business / heavy home user environment with 5 persistent VPN tunnels and I have not noticed any performance related issues, random resets, or dropped connections after the V2 flash upgrade.Shame on Netgear for not offering an upgrade path from V1 to V2 (partial credit or something).Shame on Netgear for not supporting the V2 software on the V1 device (since the V2 software is the only thing that makes the device usable).Shame on Amazon for not returning all their old stock to Netgear and offering their customers the latest version of the product - my main complaint here is that if I purchase a book that has multiple revisions, at least I am told, and therfore able to select which revision of the book I would like to purchase. This was not the case with my purchase of the firewall.CM

Poor experience with this product - it proved to be extremely unreliable.Setup was quick with the documentation provided including handling fixed IP addresses and the wireless setup including security was painless. However in operation it was dropping connectivity within a couple of hours requiring a power off and power on cycle. Sometime the wired access would drop and other times the wireless, often both. I spent three + hours on the phone with Netgear technical "pro" support which included shutting off all machines except one and upgrading to the latest firmware with no material improvement after two days of operation. The next step was an RMA and the replacement unit arrived in a couple of days with the same result. As this box could not deliver a reliable connection for the 5 laptops, 1 desktop, 1 server, Airtunes and a Print Server - I replaced it with the following setup.(1) a Linksys BEF SR41 for the Router and (2) a Linksys WAP 54G for the wireless access pointThe setup experience was straightforward and the operation since then has been flawless - not a single drop and no re-boots.

Works very well. The setup for the router takes a while, but it is very easy. The speed is quite impressive, and if you need a fast network, that needs to handle a lot of computers/devices, then this is defiantly something your going to want. We have three computers, and several wireless devices in our home, and they are all running faster than they did (simultaneously) before! The only problem I had was setting up my Wireless HP printer with it. The printer was already setup for our old router; however, (in my excitement) I forgot to disconnect it from the old network before setting up the new network. Our printer was quite confused; however, I was able to reset it and connect it to the new one (with some help from HP!). Just make sure that you disconnect (and "forget" on some devices) your old network settings.PROS:-fast speed-easy setup-many options to choose from in the browser on your computer that may be useful to some people-multiple devices on the same network-ENERGY STARCONS:-none as of now

The highest data rate I did see was 144kbps. I finally went back to the on board wireless on my PS3 and I can stream media perfectly with no issues. This is the third (and final!) in a series of 802.11n routers I tried over the last few weeks. I upgraded to 'n' since our G router + Linksys Range Expander couldn't effectively reach across our courtyard and into my wife's office. We needed high throughput and reliability in an environment that was tough on the G protocol. There are many houses nearby, so wireless interference is a hindrance and unfortunate reality. With this router, which I discovered through online computer site reviews and other sources, I think we have beaten the system. It works very well, establishes a high-speed, robust connection between the FIOS modem, and also allows other devices to connect with great 'n' connections as well.Overall, I am very pleased with this product. It runs as advertised and has solved our quirky problem.BEWARE, this device only broadcasts on the 802.11n and 802.11a protocols. This is not your everyday router. It will either work with your newest wireless devices (enabled for 802.11n or the very old 802.11a) or you will have to run a second b/g router to work with "older" wireless devices (Tivo, Playstation 3, iPhones etc.). This is not a problem for me, but I didn't think about that before I bought it.Would recommend this product to anyone looking to provide a dedicated, high-speed wireless connection between two important devices, but not as your everyday router.

I have had this unit for 10 days. The seller said T.S. after 3 days they are off the hook. I have only been able to talk to Netgear one time and was told by a guy from India that Netgear doesn't honor refurbished products. Save your money and buy a different product from a different seller.

Our original Netgear router stopped working so we decided to get a Netgear replacement (since we had pretty good experience with the brand).A long story short, our Sys Admin tried getting this thing to work and it just wouldn't operate properly (tried installing multiple times). Our system network is fairly simple too but we couldn't even get a response to a "ping". I should have read the reviews before buying this router. We ended up buying an Apple Airport Extreme and it set-up easily and quickly (along with our Netgear switches). I don't recommend this item.

I subscribed the Gearhead and they are great but the router has never worked for more then two weeks and I have had the product for about a year, I only wish I could find the name of a good router.

I received the NETGEAR WN111 RangeMax Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter earlier than I thought it would be here, ran the installation disc, installed it and have been using it daily, ever since. It has been about a month since I started using it and most of the time it is working near the max speed. At this point, I would recommend it highly.

Here is my entire experience in setting up the Netgear bridge.1. Opened box2. Glanced at instructions (main point is to connect power LAST)3. Plugged one of the boxes in to my router4. Took other box to home theater enclosure and plugged in my DirecTV and HTPC5. Connected power to both.6. Boxes "found" one another and created a high-speed wireless bridgeIn total, the above took 4 minutes and I've had FLAWLESS performance, including streaming Blu-Ray from a shared Network drive. This thing is as close as I've experienced to a perfect product. Kudos to NetGear for getting it right.

Sets up easily-quickly!. I am not mechanical but have computer experience. My daughter likes this as she is into gaming. Increased frequencies throughout computers in my house. I noticed improvement.I also tried going online via Playstion 3 .This works better than Linkys. I If you are a gamer this product will do what it says and improve your connections throughout the home system. A good addition to your home system.

I cannot recommend this router. Even though the setup is quick and easy and it has good range/signal strength and a stable connection, the device corrupts iTunes and .exe files when you download them.I spent a lot of time exchanging email and then on the phone with Netgear when I first noticed the problem (about 1 day after I installed it). We tried a lot of changes to settings and in the end the tech rep decided it must be a hardware problem. Replaced it with a new unit and exactly the same problems are occurring, so this one is going back, too, and I'll look at other brands.I've owne 3 other Netgear routers and been well-satisfied with all them. This seems to be the black sheep of the family.

Bought the WRN3500 in March. It set up easily an was fast enough for anything I needed. My first mistake was turning it off when I went on vacation. When I powered it up, it didn't. Pushed the button a lot and it finally "woke up."Last night, everything got unplugged ahead of a storm. Again, did not wake up. Netgear service, after 30 minutes of resetting and unplugging, replugging, gave me three options to return my 5 week old modem. All of which cost me money. I recommend they either remove "premium" from the router description, or back it better.
