Well I must say that the peformance I'm getting from this WiFi adapter is terrible. It is not only very slow but it is constantly dropping the WiFi connection with both my WiFi router and my phone running as a WiFi hotspot and when either is located about 18 feet from this adapter. The software supplied with the adapter is totally unable to update itself giving a "server unavailable" message. I was finally able to download updated drivers from the Netgear website but only after considerable difficulty. I will be avoiding *all* Netgear products after this experience

Will not allow connection by Newer Apple products (I-phone 4S and I-pad 2 nor mini). Upgraded firmware with no effect.No problem with PC based items and the I-Phone 4 and I-Pad 1.No problem connecting to a wireless bridge/extender either.

I've owned a linksys wrt54gs for 5 years and didn't want to upgrade until i acquired a PS Vita, which apparently has issues with it due to NAT type 3 connection, whatever that is.So i tried to upgrade with this little one. It's pretty, its range is....decent at best but NOT as good as the 5 year old router which has 2 external antennas (i heard this netgear one has 2 internal antennas)I'm gonna cut it short. It didn't work. Followed instructions to the T but it didn't even load a google search page with a wired connection. It'll show up as a network but won't send any information apart from the pc configuration page. I'd stay clear from these netgear refurbs.Got this from a CompUSA, by the way.

Please be careful about purchasing this particular router as you need to ensure that not only your 3G modem is supported but also your carrier as well.I had asked Netgear before if carrier support was tied to the modem support on this router and they initially said no, only to find out it does not work that way. Your 3G/4G carrier must be listed in their support database, even if your modem is supported, otherwise it will not recognise the dongle modem. I had to make a request to have my carrier supported via a online form their tech support had sent to me. I have no confidence that they will add support though.The wireless N features of the router is great, its unfortunate that I cannot use it.

I bought this to work with my N600 router which it does connect to half way, meaning it will connect to the 2.4 side and not to the 5 side.Then I can only get 300Mbps out of it not 600.I tried to use the software update button to check for new software/firmware but it informs me that it cannot connect to netgears server and to check my internet connection, I am connected so who knows what going on there.if you get this product I hope you have beter results then I or the other people who have commited here

I purchased this USB Wifi Adapter to replace the dead internal wifi card of an HP Pavillion laptop (Windows Vista). Followed the instruction that came with it, and in 5 minutes the laptop was connected to wifi again.The adapter is very small, does not stick out like a sore thumb from the side/back of the laptop like many other similar products. This eliminates the risk of it accidentally breaking it off and damaging the laptop's USB port.Note that the driver comes on a mini-CD, which works fine on DC drives with pull-out trays.Highly recommended.

I bought this device sometime in 2009, on eBay, to the best of my knowledge, for $20. It was used, and I had to download the software/drivers myself.However, it outperformed the wi-fi card that was in my old Dell Latitude D610 by leaps & bounds. I was living downtown at the time, only 3 blocks away from the library. The card that was in my Dell was just out of reach, when I was indoors. But when I added this card, it gave a 4 bar signal to the public library connection, indoors, which was free for all. It allowed me to cancel my ISP service that was costing me over $50 a month (at that time).And for over a year, I enjoyed a free, fast internet connection, until I moved. That $20 used card paid for itself many times over. So I can't complain at all about the purchase. Had good speeds too. I could download a 700MB Linux install disk in about 15 minutes, on a less than the highest speed public wi-fi. Even my Magic Jack worked with it.If one can get their hands on this, at a reasonable price (not $100, that's way too much), go for it. As long as the etailer stands behind the purchase (Amazon will), you can't go wrong.

This router does everything it was supposed to do. Fairly easy to install and connect with wirteless laptop and Sony wireless DVD Player. I highly recommend

I bought this product to replace the 2Wire device from AT&T which failed. The Netgear also failed. I am not 100% sure on the time frame of each of the devices...but within 3 years, both of them failed. This is so disappointing considering the $100ish price range of each of these products. I just purchased a Motorola 2247-N8 and it is working great so far (bought from Best Buy and with my track record, the 14.99 2-year replacement plan sounded great). As for the Netgear...it would be 5 starts because it worked great for a year or so...year and a half perhaps. Then I get the dreaded red internet light. DSL light was green. It didn't take too long with AT&T support to figure out that their DSL signal was fine...it was the Netgear that wasn't working. Rather than have AT&T's crew come to my house for $120, I figured it was worth testing my own theory by buying a new modem/router. i really want to say that I will NEVER buy a Netgear product again. Just like so many other reviewers. Its just hard to say because there are so many of them out there that you can't seem to get away from them. However, their quality is questionable. From my research it seems that lots of these products just don't seem to last long. I think that these companies make these things as cheaply as possible. Then there are a bunch that are ok...but there are also a small percentage that just break...and you end up reading about them by selecting the 1-star ratings from Amazon. Let's see how the Motorla product lasts.

I got this router to go with our new satellite service. After the dish and modem were in place, I went to hook up the router. Things went well until I got to the step "power on the router". It didn't power on. After a second try, I called tech support.I quickly reached "Angel". Not having to go through a long phone tree and not having to wait very long was the first pleasent surprise. Angel told me to use a paper clip and press the hidden "reset" button for two minutes. After that, the router lit up. At this point I assumed the call would end...problem solved. But, no, Angel stayed on the line, walking me through provisioning the router, and then made sure that my desktop could reach the internet, and then kept on going to make certain my laptop also was set.So customer service gets a HUGE A+ from me.And how does the router work? Invisibly, just like it's supposed to. No hic-ups, no glitches, full speed ahead. All our computers (three: my wife has a desktop which I got running on my own) are now in the 21st Century, thanks to NetGear and Angel.

Unit arrives with no directions, blacked out serial number and the wrong WWW to get instructions and software... kicks you over to a tech number that you have to pay for.

This thing loses the connection every 10 mins. Trying to use it with the xbox. Returning it ASAP as it is extremely frustrating.

Would have been a nice product at a nice price. But after a few hours that it's on, it (1) stops broadcasting SSID, and (2) no longer accepts wireless connection. Too bad - a lot of time wasted.

I bought this bridge/access point with a NetGear WNDR3300. I was formerly using an AirLink101 and Belkin router on the G-band of Wifi. I decided once I started streaming video and music to my XBOX360, while playing on-line multiplayer games, that an upgrade was needed to resolve lag.First, my iMac screams now. Before, even though the iMac was inches from the Belkin router and I have a cable modem, there was always a bit of a pause for common websites with good servers (Yahoo, Google, etc). The first benefit of this upgrade is there is NO pause on those pages now. Secondly, I turned on full encryption and left the NAT up for my game and it was lag free. I have yet to stream audio while playing.The WPS auto detect and configure feature didn't work for me, but it may be because I didn't completely follow their instructions correctly. For example, they say to connect the WNHDEB111 to the WNDR3300 __BEFORE__ turning it on. I read that instruction after having already turned it on while not connected. In essence, I wasted 90 minutes fooling with the auto-config before just doing what I planned on doing manually all along.So, here is what I did.1. Write down my MAC. I have a cable modem with Cox, who in the past locked accounts to a MAC address. Meaning, if you changed computers hooked up to the cable modem, you would have to call them to reset. Routers have a MAC clone feature to avert this inconvenience. I went into my OLD router and wrote down the "WAN MAC Address".2. Turn off old Router.3. Hook laptop up to new router (WNDR3300) with Cat5 cable and turned on the new router. Once laptop was up, manually configured it to 192.168.1.10 and entered "192.168.1.1" in Internet Explorer to hit the router's config page. I didn't use the router's provided CD at all.4. Configured router with MAC written down on step 1 (it's the last option for configuring WAN, "Use provided MAC"), turned on WPA2 + WPA (whatever the last option is) and put in a "passphase". After configuring the WAN MAC, the router reboots automatically and I also connected it to the cable modem at this point.5. Turn on iMac, let it self-discover the networks. The iMac (as well as Dell Laptop which later had it's WiFi turned on) will see TWO networks. It will see the N and G networks, which are easily identifiable by their default name given by NetGear. Even if you change the network name on the Router, you still saw Netgear...G and NetGear N. I just clicked on "N" and entered my passphrase.6. Just to double check step #5, turned on Dell laptop, selected "N" network on Wireless Utility (under control panel, and often an icon on the lower right corner where your time is).7. Surfed a little on both computers to just make sure connectivity was ok.8. Switch NetGear WNHDEB111 Wireless AP/Bridge from auto to "Bridge" mode. I know what I needed was a bridge, so after fooling with APS this is what ended up working.9. Connect laptop to NetGear WNHDEB111 Wireless AP/Bridge and reboot both. Put in the config disk that comes with the NetGear WNHDEB111 Wireless AP/Bridge. This is a critical step because the utility that launches on the disk will find the NetGear WNHDEB111 Wireless AP/Bridge, even though it's on a different subnet.10. The application will scan, find the NetGear WNHDEB111 Wireless AP/Bridge, and then say, "Would you like to change the IP?". I said yes and manually told it an IP address within the range of the WNDR3300 Router, "192.168.1.20".11. Go through the manual configuration pages for the wireless security and enter the passphrase you used to configure the WNDR3300. Also, using a static IP didn't seem to work (it did on the Belkin/Airlink combo), and so I ended up being forced to using DHCP to configure the WNHDEB111 IP/Subnet/Gateway.12. Rebooted everything (yeah, probably not necessary but this way I know after a power outage/restoral everything will come up clean), and double checked laptop physically connected (Ethernet cable, with WiFi turned off) could surf and resolve its own IP address from DHCP server.13. Unplug NetGear WNHDEB111 Wireless AP/Bridge and walk over to XBOX360 to install. Plugged in power, and Ethernet. Turned on XBOX360 and changed to "Automatic" network configuration (IP/Sub/Gateway) since again, static IPs didn't work. SIDENOTE: My Belkin seemed to work ok with static IPs that hadn't been assigned by the router's DHCP, but the NetGear router doesn't seem to tolerate it, even with the NAT filter turned off.14. Ran network tests (XBOX360 will force you to do this), and then played a few games of Gears of War 2 lag free.A few notes to add. When I tried assigning the XBOX360 as a DMZ, the 360 instantly complained about moderate NAT filtering. This is even with strict NAT filtering turned off. It also seemed unhappy when I turned off UPnp. Universal Plug and Play is a notoriously "dirty" feature to leave on because it creates a lot of unnecessary traffic to support auto-discovery. I

I purchased this router because comcast suggested it. It was a nightmare of hours and hours. I hooked it up, it worked for a couple hours then it couldn't find the modem. I did all I could then called netgear.I got someone who had english as a second language, was on the phone for over an hour, hard to understand this person, but it appeared that we got it working. I hung up, then it stopped again in less than an hour. This went on for seven phone calls all lasting a minimum of an hour. They could not make it work consistently, they would not authorize a return and they were difficult to understand. Finally I just called Amazon. As always, Amazon was wonderful. They immediately credited my account and sent out a mailing label. I then bought a linksys, it was the easiest installation imaginable, put in the disk, click a couple keys and it installs itself and it works perfectly. The cashier at Best Buy the other day told me she sees a number of netgears come back, but seldom sees a linksys router returned.

Initially the product worked well. The setup was fairly straightforward as far as routers go, and it increased my bandwidth by over 4MBS. It also allowed my multitude of network equipment to operate as plug and play without specifically opening obscure ports.However, I was disappointed with the VPN features. My intend was to use it to encrypt my internet connection at free wifi locations, but after reviewing many forums determined the IPSec wasn't compatible with Apple iOS devices. Although documentation was sparse and I have limited knowledge with VPNs so it could have been user error.Another minor annoyance was how it handled web servers. If I attempted to access my local server via domain name on my LAN, the router would interpret that as trying to access the device itself for remote administration instead of passing the access to the server. It didn't adversely affect the server otherwise, but it did create a lot of confusion on my part as I thought my website was down.But the ultimate reason I returned the device was that it would randomly stop NAT routing. I tried adjusting the DHCP lease time and assigning static IPs for internal devices to no avail. In the first day I owned it, the router failed 4 times regardless of what settings I used.Overall the router has potential, and I can forgive shortcomings, but when I spend over $100 for a router that doesn't route...well that defeated the whole purpose of the purchase. I do not recommend this product.

It's been a long time coming, getting everything *just so* on my home network, and the Netgear WNHDEB111 - 100NAS Wireless N Access Point has been a perfect finishing touch. I use this device specifically for my PS3 because the built-in wireless connection on the PS3 is too slow to properly stream high-resolution media, and my physical connection to the Internet is too far away from the PS3 to use a cable.The way this product is designed, it's actually just a bundle of two identical Access Points (APs). However these APs are smart: when you plug the first one into your Router, it says, "I am an Access Point" and starts sending out a signal. When you plug the second one into another device (such as my console), it says, "I am a Bridge" and starts looking for the first. They find each other, handshake, and all is good--easy as pressing a button (details below).I've not logged a ton of hours on the Netgear yet, but here's what I can tell you:- My neighborhood is drowning in a ridiculous number of wireless networks of all types. This setup is designed to dedicate the unit that is connected on my PS3 to the unit that is connected to the Router--in effect, this means ignores all the outsiders. It can be secured to prevent nosy neighbors from tapping it as well.- Many people who bought the unit earlier had lots of problems with signal strength. I am pleased to say that the problem appears to be fixed: my wireless signal has to cross the house, pass through 2 walls, a floor and my TV, and ignore the 5N band I already have on my router in order to get to the PS3, tuning out the neighbors along the way. I used this unit out of the box, with no need for firmware updates, and I have a strong signal with no dropouts.- Setup really was one of the simplest things I've ever had to do: 1) Connect one adapter to your router but don't plug it on or turn it on. Make sure the switch on the back of it is set to "Auto" 2) Connect the other adapter to your device (in my case, the PS3) but don't plug it in or turn it on. Make sure the switch on the back of it is set to "Auto" 3) Plug in the first adapter and turn it on. 4) Plug in the second adapter and turn it on. 5) Press the button on the front of the first adapter, then step over to the second adapter and press the button on it.Within less than a minute, they locked on to each other and were ready to go. Amazing. I've pushed it to its limits, using multiple large HD videos on my home server (one of which came from a PAL DVD) and making it fast-forward, rewind, and jump back and forth at different speeds: it behaves just like a DVD would if it were in the player, with no hiccups or freezes waiting on the network to catch up. I can't wait to try gaming!If you have an older Wireless Router that's not N-speeds, this pair will give that router N-speed access for all the devices on your network. The additional AP can take a slower device and give it a nice fast upgrade that is easy to use. As an added bonus, both devices have a second Ethernet plug, allowing you to physically connect a second device if you wish. If you have a newer N router, the Netgear does a nice job of mapping around it. What this means in my case is that my LinkSys WRT610N gives variable-speed access to anything I want it to, up to N. Then I have a high-speed 5N network for my newest machines...and thanks to the Netgear, I have an entirely separate high-speed channel that can stream to my TV uninterrupted and with no traffic.
