I've had good luck with every Netgear I've ever owned for the past few years. Got it in December 2008, began the process of death in March 2009. Now, middle of April 2009, it has died the good death. Started needing reboots about once a week after 3 months. The need for reboots has become increasing common - now it needs it every day if not more than once a day. I've decided to toss it.It's a shame - Netgear used to be a great brand. I've noticed reviews of Netgear products going steadily downhill over the years and didn't think anything of it due to my (what I now realize) good luck. Now I've been lumped in with everybody else in realizing Netgear's quality has gone to shambles in recent time. I won't be buying Netgear again - not just because of this experience, but because of the increasingly-common negative reviews I've read about just about all of their products here at Amazon and at other sites. Due to the reviews of Netgear's recent customer service quality I've also decided that it isn't worth the headache & heartache of working through the warranty process. So, it's going in the trash & I'll buy another brand.

The promise of the WNHDEB111 is not fulfilled due to the limitations imposed by Netgear and by the 5Ghz band used for Wireless N signal.In my application, base unit on the second floor is only provided with a fast ethernet input, so the lack of a Gigabit port is a design limit. Add to that the nature of signal dilution, and the available wireless signal from the upstairs location barely allows even Wireless G speeds.As an introduction to Wireless N capabilities, this has been a disappointment, since I cannot locate the base unit where the signal is not forced to pass through walls, and there is no external antenna output on the unit to add an external antenna to overcome the limitations.Be sure you have an unrestricted signal path if you are going to connect your laptop via this unit, or you will be sorry you didn't get a cheaper 2.4Ghz G or N access point.

I bought a refurbished WNR-3500 10 months ago, upgraded to latest firmware, and it has worked perfectly. I regularly connect at 270 Mbits upstairs or in other rooms. However, in order to get that speed, I bought an external antenna for my PCI network card - it makes a lot of difference - connection speeds doubled and got 4 bars instead of 2. The gigabit ports work great - between the two machines I have wired, I have seen up to 25 MBytes/s transfer speed, which is excellent. No complaints. It just works.

I purchased a Vista laptop a few months back and no longer needed my XP desktop on the first floor of the house. The problem was, I dreaded the prospect of having to get a super long ethernet extension cord and tediously staple-gunning it along the wall all the way down to where I wanted to put my computer in the basement. The other option was to get some sort of wireless card installed to my desktop, but I'm not that tech-savvy and generally try to avoid ulcer-causing IT-related nightmares.So I procrastinated for a good long time, frozen by my aversion to either manual labor or the daunting task of setting up my own wireless network. The months passed --spring summer autumn winter / he sang his didn't he danced his did-- and one day I finally just went out and purchased this Netgear USB Adapter, and it was so much easier than I had ever expected to get it working. For one, it's a plug-in usb interface, so there wasn't the PCI card installation to deal with, and since this interface works so well, I wouldn't recommend that the novice user go out and get the PCI card version unless s/he has particular reason for it.This is about all it took to receive wireless internet on my XP desktop:1) Removed driver cd installation disc and usb adapter from box2) Installed drivers from enclosed cd onto my desktop pc3) Plugged in the usb adapter into a rear port on my desktop pc4) Clicked "next," etc. as directed by the setup window after I plugged in the usb wireless adapterAnd then I was online. I was a little worried that the wireless range wouldn't be very good since the router was on a different floor, but it turned out to be fine, for the most part. Once in a while the little green icon in the taskbar that indicates online connectivity blinks red, but it's only for a second and isn't enough to cause much interruption in my site browsing activities.I'm not sure if the setup process was made easier because both my router and this adapter are made by Netgear, but for whatever the reason, it was simple for me to set up and use so I'm recommending it. That is all... I hope my review has been helpful to you in your hunt for the perfect network adapter!

I chose Netgear because I have a Netgear router, and I thought it might be better matched than another brand. I installed the booster software while using an ethernet connection. I let the installer check for online updates, and all went well.My laptop no long gets dropped signals from my Netgear router, and connection speed has increased from 54 Mbps to 130 or more Mbps. I can also see several more WiFi networks than before.The chubby booster blocks the neighboring USB ports, so I put the booster on an extension cable. That has the added benefit of letting me move the booster to obtain the maximum signal.Note: My modem and router are next to the TV and stereo receiver, and the router is hardwired to the iPod dock and Roku video box. When the TV and sound system were turned on and my husband used the remotes, my wireless computer would get dropped Internet signals. By attaching a long extension cable to the booster, I was able to put the booster up on a bookshelf, where it no longer gets interference from the stereo, CATV and TV remotes.

I just replaced my old router (Netgear DG834N) with this oneAnd I found this one is so reliable and easier in sitting it up and has better new features like (WPS), Wireless (on/off) botton and 4 SSID names for the wireless network can be made and the most important thing it has better firmware than my old one witch made me suffer alotbut it has only one issue:my older router (Netgear DG834N) has 10% or 20% more coverage than this onebut it reach the place that I needotherwise its the best router and the cheapest one in the market for its featuresI recommend this router for gamers also cuase its never get disconnected at all

I have been looking for a good wireless N gigabit router and I haven't found a decent one yet. The Netgear looks great, sets up fast, and works flawlessly until you get out of visual range of it. It has the worst range of every router I have tried thus far.One bar is rule of the day unless you are sitting right next to it. My Linksys WRT54G outperformed this at every turn (except wire)Power cycle if you want to connect for a day or two.Go on the Netgear forums and see for yourself...

This was a refurbished item and was priced very reasonably. Shipping was quick. The router runs cooler than the older, smaller NetGear it replaced, probaby because it's bigger and has larger vents. Since this was a refurbished item it did not come with a software CD so I had to hunt that down on the NetGear web site. Setup was fairly straight foward. I had more problems integrating the wireless printer and music server than with the router itself. So far it's been working flawlessly.

I have a 2 story house with the router and PC with the adapter on separate floors about 30' apart. I tried Belkins G router and adapter; No good. "Low" to "Very Low" signal and sometimes no connection or wireless network available. Then I tried the Netgear Rangemax Wireless Router with the Belkin card and got "low" up to "Good" signal with only my network available. After being online a few minutes the adapter got hot and cut out. I had to restart the pc. Now I purchased the netgear wpn111 rangemax and it and the router are working well together. It finds 5 different wireless networks in my area. It automatically connects to my encrypted network and gets very good signal (Mostly 4 out of 5 bars. It does vary from 36 mps to 56 mps at times but it seems to hold the connection OK for web surfing. After all the problems with Belkin stuff I'm happy this one works. I've only had it a few days so far but it seems MUCH better than the Belkin stuff.

1. Setup was a pain. It's connected to my router, but, got a wrong IP address which seemed to have been known for a while per the website of the manufacturer.(why don't they do something about it!).2. Technical support is useless. I talked to a couple of folks in Philipines(nothing personal to the country), but, they're just interested in log in collecting my personal information without providing any value-added technical solutions. Typical cheap call center. I felt like talking to a wall and listened to a recorded information.3. The range and the speed are not good at all!!!4. I don't recommend at all.

Was very easy to set up even for the electronically inept like myself, and was easy to link to all of my devices that use internet, including the i-Touch and i-Phone. Range is good, and the signal is strong everywhere in the house.

netgear only supplies tech support for 90 days. i just bought a smartphone and netgear will not help me connect to my internet unless i pay. before u buy a wireless router, u should see if their customer support is temporary.

Completely happy with this router for the price. The included install was not support on 64 bit Vista but I found a way around that. Once the install was complete it walked you through the setup. other configuration settings are simple to accomplish. Range is great, the router is located in my basement office and I get excellent wireless connectivity up stairs. Recommend this router looking for wireless access and easy installation.

I purchased this item last week hoping to use the Opendns features that are integrated into the router. Unfortunately I discovered that the firmware in this unit is version 1 and is not upgradeable to version 2. As an aside the unit I received was manufactured last year. If you are buying this unit and are planning to use the LPC features. The unit I received is not the one to get. I'm off to the Netgear site to be assured of getting the latest version of the same unit.I must also add that Amazon made the return as easy as possible.

This is a great router if you know what you are doing. The initial setup is easy, but makes no mistakes because the online manual is somewhat confusing. Once you get it set up, and it took us 6 hours to work out the kinks, it is great. By the way, I've been using PCs on a daily basis since 1981, my wife is a senior manager at a major PC company, and we also had the assistance of the CTO of a Wi-Fi software company. So these were not 6 "what the heck is going on" hours.Make sure that you don't have a printer, an aquarium or any other dense object between this router and the rest of your house or office or you will have serious performance issues with throughput and signal stability. This router has 8 tiny antennae that help make it look sexy, but the little babies have problems going around objects.Finally, the flashing blue lights are very, very annoying. In fact, they could induce an epileptic fit. Fortunately, you can turn them off by pressing a button in the back. The only value the blue lights have is that if you leave them on at night, they could scare the crap out of a criminal . . . or attract Martians.If you are a novice, steer clear of this product until they revamp the installation wizard.

I can't say enough good things about this product. Setup was a breeze and it seems to cover a whole lot better than my old LinkSys access point did. If you're looking for a easy-to-use and well-built product then look no further.OK, I did think of one thing. In certain areas of my house, the access point interferes with my Bluetooth earpiece. It's only in a few areas and if I move aside a few feet the problem goes away so it's not a really big problem. Oh yeah, they sort of overdid it with the blue LED's but, on the positive side, I no longer need a nightlight downstairs.

I'd been looking for a cutting edge router but it had to have a built in modem - and Netgear came through. With the 802.11n technology I am hoping this router will last me quite a while. So far it has provided easy setup and fast, quick service. Haven't had to use support, so not sure how good that is (hope I never need to!).

Out of the box and working, per the instructions, in less than 10 minutes! One unit upstairs at router and the other downstairs (in the garage) with a signal locked in less than 3 minutes after applying power. First boot attempt on remote computer had internet signal immediately.Way to go NetGear!

You can use it to instantly add wireless to any computer that has a USB port, including a laptop. You will not need to open up the computer--no tools needed. The router works great, but I do agree the blue lights are quite annoying. I'm hoping they fade out in time. The instructions to hook up to 1 computer are somewhat confusing, but use the pictures from the CD instructions & you should be fine. I wanted to hook up 2 computers and couldn't do it - there were absolutely no instructions. I called tech support; he was rude and told me my computer was a piece of junk, then hung up on me. No, I'm not kidding. I finally figured it out by myself, but I cannot recommend Netgear's support service.

I bought this for home use with DSL service from AT & T. The setup was easy and the fact that it is two in one combo - wireless router and modem makes it nice. It is working well so far, only been a month. The unit gets heated real fast that worries me a little. It came with two little stands but no instructions on how to install it.

I bought the WPN111 Rangemax USB wireless adapter to replace my previous model, the basic low end Wireless G. We were getting a solid 54mbps (and 70% signal strength) from the Wireless G (we leach off the wifi signal in the office of our apartment complex with consent from the manager) but I wasn't satisfied, so I thought I'd upgrade to the Rangemax which was rated at 108Mbps. I brought the unit home and installed it, and it didn't even break 48mbps, and the signal strength was actually WORSE (about 40% at best). Another reason to avoid the Rangemax is the fact its software has conflicts with XP. After just 2 days of using it I began to get random system freeze ups; Cursor wouldn't move, Keyboard didn't work, and the only way to shut off was by holding the power button on my machine. The freezes began to increase in frequency and I searched all over the web trying to identify the cause, at one point being told that the Ram, Video Card or Hard Drive could be at fault. On a whim I Googled "WPN111 + System Freezes" and found the real culprit. I unplugged the Rangemax unit from my USB slot and removed all the software, AND WHADDYA KNOW... no more freezes! After all the frustration, I went back to Radioshack and exchanged the Rangemax for the Wireless G. Its so bizarre that the lower model is more reliable than the "upgrade."

We decided to try this kit out due to our wireless network having troubles reaching our master bedroom Tivo. A problem that I encountered was that the Series 2 Tivo does not have ethernet capabilities, so we ordered an adapter for future use. In the meantime we tested the kit out on our Xbox 360 for a speed test. Upon opening the box I found out all directions were on a CD, there was no wizard or guide to help connect everything, the actual installation guide is just a PDF file. The directions were a little confusing at first, but after a quick reread I hooked everything up as instructed. I hooked one unit up to our 802.11g router and went through the set up, which went quickly.With the bridge working, the Xbox registered the connection as hard-wired and we were able to get on-line easily. I next set up the Xbox as a media extender for my PC. During the setup routine the Xbox tests network bandwidth and shows a chart with the words "acceptable for standard TV" and after that, at a higher level, "HDTV." With the bridge kit in place, the bandwidth chart was completely maxed out to the very highest level even on the HDTV portion of it. The Microsoft wireless Xbox adapter we had been using had only registered the first bar of the HDTV portion. For the next test I downloaded an HD movie, 5.7GB, from Xbox Live. The download took roughly 43 min, a little over half the time that it took to download the same size move over the wireless adapter.After the ethernet adapter arrived, I hooked up the Series 2 Tivo and I downloaded a few shows from my computer and a few from our second Tivo in the living room. The wireless bridge solution was noticeably faster, but your transfer speeds are limited by the Tivo software. All in all, the Netgear is a very good wireless solution, easy to set up and use and is great for the Xbox360 and media streaming, but for non-HD Tivo it is overkill, unless you have very poor reception in your house.

I bought this unit to eliminate the need to run cat5 cable across an 18 foot room. I set it up as a wireless repeater with base station approx 16 feet away. There are no walls or other obstructions between the two units. The base station is a Netgear WPN824v3 (you MUST have a version 3 unit - won't work with the V1 or V2 models). I would not try this with any other manufacturer's base station. It does work as advertised, but the connection is extremely slow and I am having difficulty maintaining a connection when transferring moderately large files or printing large documents. These issues make this unit marginal and it makes my wife really grouchy.

tried installing a 3500 over a week ago. The problem occurred during installation when my desk top screen went blue. I keep getting the error message now that Windows cannot start. I am able to boot up in safe mode but I have not been able to connect to the internet either via wireless or hardwire connection.Customer support was a joke, they blamed the computer, which was working flawlessly with the old router.I have to agree with the other one-star ratings (and I wish I had read them before making the purchase). This is a product to avoid.

After reading some other reviews describing tough installation, I still bought this card. I followed instructions - loaded the software before installing the card. The installation was completely simple. The adapter works well, providing good speed and range when connected. The problemis to use the adapter you must use the manufactures device and connection software.In other words the device drivers are not provided separately. This software acts asthe connection manager and does so in a manner that is clumsy, redundant and shouldnot be required to operate the adapter. Overall the quality and construction of theunit is good, but it's required software lets it down and does a poor job ofeffectively maintaining the wireless connection.

I bought this so that my kids PS3 could connect wirelessly and they could play online. First...did not work...only had like 10% signal strenght. Heck, I had a stronger signal (30%) from my NEIGHBOR'S wireless network. Ended up hooking the PS3 up via ethernet and then it would frag out whenever someone was on the internet while someone else was playing the PS3. Did speed testing, and all my speeds were a fraction of what my speed was when I connected straight to the cable modem.So, I went out and bought a D-Link Xtreme Gaming Router, and man, could you tell the difference. Paid a lot more, but worth every penny...none of the issues above reappeared with the new router. I reviewed the D-link as well on its product page.Summary: skip over this...go D-Link if you have a gamer.

I purchased this product after doing extensive research on router. I wanted to wait for the 3700 but with the hefty price tag I decided to stay with the 3500. So far the router has been working as designed ....I did notice a faster speeds vs. the my old wireless g router..Soon I will be setting up the AP/Bridges by netgear to the 3500 and connect Directv and PS3 to the network...we will see how that goes!!!

We have been using this modem for about 30 days now. It is SO much better than the one that came with our AT&T service. We live in a 2-story house & keep it downstairs. It works great thruout the house. Also, we watch loads of movies & haven't had problems streaming.

Works good. Have a PS3, Wii, laptop, and a PC that are hooked up wirelessly. I also have another Mac and PC directly hooked up via cable. Like I said it all works pretty good. However, the laptop is a Mac and sometimes it will drop the signal and it won't let me on again, until I restart both the Mac and the router.Overall, I'd recommend this.

After a decade of orders from Amazon this was the first item I returned. It was a nightmare. I could not get it to connect with my computer and spent over six hours with Netgear customer service (a term I use loosely) in India trying to get help. They did nothing but give me wrong information and damage my operating system. I boxed it up and sent it back. The next day went out and purchased a Linksys router, plugged it in and it installed itself.Never again would I purchase anything from Netgear.

This is an awesome router with one serious flaw. It drops the wireless constantly (this is with multiple laptops and iphones). Evidently this is a problem with the router because if you cycle the power it will work again for a few days.

I brought this product less than a month ago, but I didnt get around to installing it (had 2 other working computers). Finally, last night I installed the card following the instructions and tied it in to my router. Received a good reading that everything was set up fine, but could not connect to the internet. I called tech support (24/7) and after giving then the SN# and model#, I was told that this card is 3 years old, and I should take it back to the store for and updated model or upgrade the firmware. Hence I went with the firmware and it worked perfectly. Bestbuy needs to update their products.

The setup wizard does not work on Mac or Linux, so be prepared to conduct a manual setup. The setup URL is inaccurate, so be prepared to do a search to figure out how to get to the setup screen. Once you get there, setup is really straightforward, but getting there is more of a pain than it should be. I've had the router for a day now, and it works just great.

Very happy with the product.I've bought two of these devices to build a wireless bridge to the media room to feed TCP/IP to DirecTV DVR and Popcorn Hour NMT. The bridge works flawlessly, and is very fast at ~200Mbit/sec. I also run a MacBook Pro off the access point part of the bridge over 5GHz wireless-N with stable connection and no issues whatsoever.The device is well designed, with nice touches abound. It looks stylish with piano black finish on the sides and clear lucite panel in front, and fits nicely on a typical book shelf. There are two Ethernet ports in the back so if you have only two devices, you won't even need a switch on the bridge end. The genius touch is that you can turn off all LEDs on the box, including both front panel power/traffic and rear panel port status LEDs, so there is no annoying blinking in a darkened room!I understand that the lack of wireless-G and 2.4GHz range may be limiting for some people but I don't have this problem.

This piece works just fine, I was going to buy it from Best Buys but after talking to one of their representatives and he metioned that he had one and it was and has been very good and durable for years, my next move was to order it used at a reduced price to receive the service quality of a new one! I am not disappointed!

This product is by far the worst wireless adapter I have ever used. From day one this thing was trouble. It all started with the installation drivers be way out dated and the connection was only 54mbps. After updating that problem was solved. Then the real trouble started. At totally random times my computer running Windows XP Pro would report "USB Device Not Recognized" and the adapter would not work at all. On two seperate occasions I was able to fix the problem by eliminating the extension cable (included with adapter) and the second time I simply plugged the adapter into another port on the cpu. Finally when the same problem happened for a third time (over a 6 month span) it completely refused to work. I even tried installing the adapter on a different computer and got the same "USB Device Not Recognized" message from Windows. I have the Gigabit Wireless Next Router and the Wireless Next Laptop Card and have had absolutly no problems with either of those two products only this piece of junk. AVOID AT ALL COSTS OR YOU WILL BE SORRY!!!!

I particularly like the switch on the back that turns off all of the LEDs, which allows this thing to completely disappear.Because it's 5 GHz only, it might be a problem for some users. The 5 GHz signal will simply not penetrate the 12 - 18 inch thick adobe walls in the original part of my house. In my case this is fine, because I bought it to cover the frame addition which got a barely usable signal from my 2.4 GHz wireless router which lives in the adobe part of the house. Fortunately, I had thought to run Cat5E when we put in the addition, so the necessary hardwired connection to the front of the house was already in place. For my needs, this animal is perfect. It does what I want it to do, and you'll never see it unless I point it out.

I should have written this review right after installation, it would have been more helpful to y'all. But here the skinny. The thing has been working like a champ for the last couple months. The kicker is the setup.Just like one of the other reviews, when I initially set this thing up, it would connect and then disconnect, back and fourth. Very nightmarish. I did *not* try to call the company, so unlike those people who had trouble with the support, I can't comment.I wish I could remember exactly what the key was to solve the problem, and I'm really sorry I cant. This is what I do know. I've setup a number of wireless AP's in the past and thought I knew what I was doing: bad idea. After the problems, I went back to the beginning, read the manual all the way through and then started from the beginning. Oddly enough, the thing worked fine. I know there was something the manual had me do which I had failed to do during the initial attempt, but I don't remember what it was.Upshot is, I love the thing. It's fast, it's up, and I don't have to deal with it ... ever. I paid $105, it's $89 now. I'd have no trouble recommending this thing.

THIS ROUTER HAS HAD SOME BAD REVIEWS, BUT I HAVE ALWAYS HAD GOOD LUCK WITH NETGEAR IN THE PAST AND THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE IT A TRY. SET UP WAS SIMPLE JUST LIKE PREVIOUS NETGEAR ROUTERS. THE RANGE IS GOOD AND THIS THING IS FAST. THERE WAS SOME INTERFERANCE ISSUES WITH THE 2.4 GHZ PHONES IN MY HOUSE THAT CAUSED SOME MINOR LAG WHEN THE PHONES WOULD RING, BUT I HAVE NOW REPLACED THE PHONES WITH 6.0 AND THE PROBLEM IS SOLVED. I CAN RUN 2 DESKTOPS, 3 LAPTOPS, AND THE XBOX 360 AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE WNR3500 AND RECOMMEND IT. SO FAR I HAVE NEVER LOST CONNECTION OR HAD TO RESET IT. GREAT PRODUCT. YODA APPROVED.
