I bought this refurbished and after 3 months and 10 days it started losing connection every 15 to 30 minutes, plus it came with a broken stand. A fix to the problem is restarting it via the power button on the back, but it gets annoying really fast.

My old netgear router had to be rebooted every day or so and was otherwise problematic and finally stopped working altogether. I picked this one in part from reviews and also it was a more powerful router. It arrived quickly, I connected it up the same as the old one, it was really easy to get it started. It's much faster than the old one and I haven't had to reboot at all. I'm completely satisfied.

The product arrived quickly and I gave it a weak attemp at hooking it up. It didn't work for me. I called one of my cableguy friends he came over and in about 5 minutes everything was up and running with no problems. It has performed with no problems for a couple of weeks now. No news is good news to me.

My first Netgear wifi router died after several years of good service......probably because of dust. I got this one (the NETGEAR RangeMax WNR1000 Wireless Router) because of my previous good experience and because I liked what I read about it.The browser-based interface could stand some better QA to get rid of minor bugs, but overall I am very happy with it.

After my research I was about to buy the WNDR3700; just at last minute I came across WNDRMac. This model appears to have better features than the WNDR3700, and is similar to the WNDR3800; plus special support for Mac. I have a MBP so I liked it at first look. On Amazon I got it for $85, which is cheaper than 3700 model. All the features that WNDR3700 offer are already part of WNDRMac. Below are the features 3700 doesn't seem to have which are in WNDRMac model. The one I received is WNDRMacV2 which has very similar hardware config as WNDR3800. (As a matter of fact, WNDRMac is much closer to WNDR3800, only missing things are the firmware features like ClearChannel Selector, Tivo compatability etc).Features in WNDRMac which are not in WNDR3700:- Rapidshare USB Printer support- Genie dashboard control- Video Mode- Time Machine compatible- CD-less install (not that it really matters)To my surprise, WNDRMac model nicely worked with an externally powered USB drive! From several reviews and user comments, the 3700/3800 models did not seem to work with a USB drive which was externally powered. It uses Bonjour for the Printers - so connecting printer should not be as difficult as other models (Bonjour can be installed on Windows as well).Overall, I feel WNDRMac has more features than WNDR3700 (much closer to WNDR3800), plus closer to Mac and works well with PCs - with lesser cost than either of those models.I have it for almost 3 days now - no reboots or no issues at all. Works great on both frequencies, automatically detects and configures USB drives. Great product!

I would highly suggest not buying this refurbished product because it only works sometimes. Its very sketchy as to when it will let you connect to the network. This is my second refurbished router and it will definitely be my last!

Easy to read instructions, but I accidentally clicked on the wrong security settings and locked myself out of the password. So I called customer service and they were awesome. He knew exactly what to do and everything is working great! There is a reset button on the back in case you forget your password! Works great (it's only been 1 week)

I'm very experienced with home network configuration, but I was unable to configure this router as a wireless access point (bridge) despite multiple hours trying. If you are OK running NAT-over-NAT then this router will do what you want, but if you already have DHCP/NAT on your network and you just want an access point (bridge) then I suggest looking elsewhere. The Netgear support site has precise instructions for how to do this that simply don't work.

I have spent 3 nights and half a day tring to I install this POS!! I was never told by buying a refurbed router I would not get a software disc!! I could talk to someone in India and be further frustrated by not understanding the person oi was paying to help me, or go on line and pay some one.. I can just return it to u and buy another router!!! I am so disappointed in this transaction!!! I have bought several refurbed items and have never never ever had this problem !

Very easy to set up with a minimal amount of networking knowledge. The features are decent for an inexpensive router. Seems to be running fine...it is being used in an apartment so I can not comment on the range of the WiFi but it has been reliable so far with no reboots needed like my previous Netgear WiFi router. Great purchase so far.

Installed on XP Professional SP2. Worked, but had to do some tweaking and disable the Netgear software to get the adapter to work. After installation of XP SP3, the adapter went completely buggy. Would show connection for 5 to 10 seconds and then disconnect. Uninstalled Netgear software and removed card. Reinstalled the latest software/driver downloaded from Netgear. I then reinstalled the adapter card. When Windows rebooted, it immediately found and installed the driver. I connected to the network and tested connection and it was fine -- 5 bars and able to ping the router and browse the web. Then I made the mistake of finishing the Netgear installation using the wizard that had popped up. Once the Netgear utility finished loading, it completed destroyed the adapter. The Netgear app would not connect to any wireless APs and when I closed the app and reopened, it completely disable the wireless adapter. Even if you disable the Netgear utility, MS Zero Wireless Configuration will not function. I even tried another USB wireless adapter and it would not function until I uninstalled the Netgear software. You have to completely remove the Netgear software. This would not be such a bad thing, but Netgear does not distribute drivers without the software. It's all one package and you cannot install the driver without installing their software.Save your money and buy one of the $10 adapters on Amazon. They work better and Netgear has virtually no support. When I bought a $170 DSL Modem/Router from Netgear 2 years ago I had to fill out a support request. They ended up passing my support request to some Kindergarden class to answer -- at least that is what I got out of it from the technical knowledge the tech rep displayed.

There is no manual, insrtuctions, or free help, so you will not be able to hook it up unless you are a tech.The net gear chat group was not helpful, not responsive, and dismissive.

1 year later still no troubles, great range from top floor to basement to driveway, networks my old samsung ml1710 laser printer, and synology nas, adequate bandwidth to run sony bravia tv netflix and other streaming movies simultaneously, secure, easy setup. Best router I've owned so far.

I was sent a 3 year old device that Netgear would not warrantee. They said it should have been sent back after one year. I do have a new netgear I purchased locally and it is great.

Terrible router!It will drop signal at least 2 times per day, which can be irritating if you're doing something important online. The signal output isn't very far.I begin to lose wifi bars moving even just 15 feet away.If you have a large home, look elsewhere as the reach isn't very far. If you hate constantly dropped signal, stay away completely.

I expected to spend 4 or 5 hours setting up this wireless router and getting all my many devices to connect. After an hour, everything was set up and the increase in speed and bandwidth compared to my old router were apparent. Then I spent those few extra hours just enjoying the difference.

no instructions about how to set up. Netgear said they cant give me instructions because router is very old and its refurbished.!!! then why sell it?after two hours set it myself. Connections gets disconnected 3-4 times every hour will have to wait for it to work again. I guess i was greedy to save money and bought this piece of junk.now i am ordering another router for 120 dollors.

*** Note*** This review is specifically regarding the WNR3500v2 (version 2)+ Great range, speed and performance (due to the 2 SiGe 2597L Power Amps installed)+ Fast processor+ Gigabit ports+ Third party firmware compatible from DD-WRT, Tomato, OpenWRT, etc (due to the Broadcom chipset)I have always loved and used DD-WRT firmware for its many great features such as vlans, wireless bridging, and pptp vpn capability. I wanted to upgrade my old tried and true WRT54G's at home so I decided to give this router a go after finding it was supported by DD-WRT. I'm using 2 of these at homewhich have been flashed with dd-wrt (I never used the stock firmware). The performance is great; I always have a solid, fast, steady connection and no drops, Seriously! I have one router acting as the gateway while the other is acting as a wireless bridge. This works great for me as I dont need to run cat5 cable all around my house to my home theater pc. Also my main router acts as a vpn endpoint so I can acces my network from anywhere. As for the asthetics, I love the sleek black design of the router. I love how clever and informative, and useful the status lights on the front of the router really are. With it you can can tell what port is connected at 100 or 1000mb speed, if and if an internet link is made. As for mods: It would be sweet if you could easily add external antennas via u.fl connectors to the board but that isn't the case, if you choose to do this you'll have to solder antennas directly onto the board. Lastly I like that the router doesn't run hot. If there are any cons about this router is that it doesnt have dual band capability (no 5.8ghz only 2.4ghz) and it doesn't have a usb port to attach storage drives or printers. (however the WNDR3700 does and is supported by third party firmware) Minor gripes aside if you're looking for a rock solid 2.4ghz Gigabit Wireless N Router that supports third party firmware to further exploit and take advantage of all this router can offer then the WNR3500v2 is for you!!!*** NOTE *** of the 3500 models only the WNR3500v2 and WNR3500L(which includes a USB port) is supported by third party firmware.

the weirdest thing with this router. i had no problems connecting to it with laptops, but i could NEVER connect with another wireless external device, like Nexus, iphone or Ipad. that's the only reason why i had to replace it with media link router.

With their Byzantine customer Service procedure. it took me 3 telephone tries to finally get thru to a person. If you make a selection for tech support a recording provides you with another phone number to call. unless you are a reseller! If you cannot select 0 to bypass their menu and speak directly to a CSR. If you are lucky to finally reach someone you might think Hallelujah, but that's only the beginning of your problems! Netgear only honor tech support 90 days out from purchase. Although they claim that they will honor their 1 year warranty for their product. While speaking to the Tech named Scott, He made his attempt to sell me trouble shooting for a fee. I told Him I have no need to pay for troubleshooting for something I already know THE ROUTER IS DEFECTIVE! Scott retort that the router could have a configuration problem. I tried to tell him that there was no configuration problem. THE ROUTER was zapped by a recent storm! I called because I need a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number as per the warranty info printed on the site. Per Netgear's site you should not send your product back to them without this RMA. The only way to get a RMA is to 1st pay Netgear a fee for troubleshooting(if after 90 days). The fact that you paid your money for a product that is still under the 1 year warranty is immaterial to this company. As I began to retort this Tech Names Scott had chosen to place me on hold while I was in mid sentence, thinking I would get frustrated and Hang the phone up because he felt I was a unruly customer. Well I waited on the phone for 25 minutes for Scott to return to the phone(I guess I was disrupting his stats). After being on the phone for a total of 35 minutes Scott returns to the phone and WHILE I WAS IN MID SENTENCE REQUESTING A SUPERVISOR, SCOTT HUNG THE PHONE UP ON ME! I calmly redialed the telephone navigated my way again through Netgear's horrible phone system, asked to speak to a supervisor. After waiting again for another 10 minutes, I had chosen my words very carefully to inform the supervisor by the name of Marvin. That I didn't care If I spent $5 or $5000. I AM STILL A CUSTOMER! I have never been treated with such contempt from a company even when I had a disagreement with them. I continued to inform Marvin that I WILL NEVER EVER BECOME A CUSTOMER OF NETGEAR'S AGAIN! Every chance I get I will put Netgear on blast because of their abysmal idea they call customer service. Why should I pay a fee to be told what I already know. Netgear DOES NOT HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES( UNLESS YOU PAY AN ADDITIONAL FEE FIRST) I thought a warranty was included in the price of purchase of your product. Netgear is not an Honorable Company. Don't let your router break! Good luck getting a fair deal with them. If i were your and you were shopping for anything Netgear sells. Save your money or spend it on a competitor!

Running Windows-7 on a new Dell box. It works fine with my laptops running XP, where I can use the extra "gizmo" adapter to setup devices with the router. But it's totally hopeless to add anything that can't use the adapter. Mac laptops, Kindles, etc., will not play with this router. Trust me, I've spent a lot of time trying. This router has been a big waste of time and money.

My other wireless router would only allow me to have 5 wireless devices connected to it at a time which was a pain since I have over 10 devices that connect to wifi. This wireless routed works like a charm and I have no difficulties getting all my devices to work at once. Definitely a must have and I'm glad that I was able to get it at such a good price!

Although this product installs easy enough and connects fine to a Netgear router I have. The connection speeds drop off very fast with any distance or obstructions between the router and the adaptor. I could only manage 52Mbps through a Netgear N 2.4Ghz router even though it was only 10 feet away from the router. I did have a wall between the two. But even with no walls the connection speed were much less then expected. I am not surprised by this as the device is so small I cannot imagine it can have much of a antenna system to it. I suspect it must use the ground side of the USB system to have any gain whatsoever. So I guess this will work if you do not have long distances between your device and the router. Don't expect it will perform as well as a built in card for example in a laptop.Or a PCI desktop card with a decent antenna. The price is right but you get what you pay for.

Easy to install, simple to use, and aesthetically pleasing to boot! I have had this router for 3 months now and it has been solidly on since the day of arrival, only off because of power loss from Sandy and playing musical furniture one afternoon. I have not had one problem. I highly reccommend this product, despite the "Refurbished" tag.

Just got mine the other day and first thing I did was upgrade the firmware, as you should!My router was the Netgear WNR3500L, version 1. Make sure yours is version 1 if you use the links below for updated firmware (look at the router near the power port, if it says "WNR3500U / WNR3500L" and there's no "v2" then you've got version 1.The router comes with a version of Kong's DD-WRT software, so it's easiest and safest to just upgrade to the latest version of the same firmware, which you can find by searching for "desipro dd-wrt".Builds labeled nv32k are suitable for Netgear this router, the WNR3500L V1.

I always buy netgear. I needed a cheap but well made easy to set up router for my sons apartment. For less than $30 delivered I had a netgear router up and running in less than 15 minutes. I have a huge house so I have the 3400 plus a 2000 extender. We get strong internet throughout my whole house. This came in about 3 or 4 days using free shipping, very nice. Product is refurbished so no retail package and no instructions. Easy set up instruction on the Netgear website.

I bought two of these for use with a pair of Raspberry Pis running Raspbian Linux (which is based on Debian Wheezy). The stock kernel provides the 8192cu driver which works with this device. However, the driver only supports the G channels, so if you need N, you will have to look elsewhere.I have only tried this device connected to a powered hub, so I don't know if it will work when plugged directly into the Raspberry Pi.To configure the device, search the internet for my tutorial.

UPDATE - 2010-MAR-20:I bought yet another Netgear WGT624 Wireless Router but this time for my parents. And yet again, it was this particular refurbished (recertified) wireless router. But this time, I ordered here on Amazon from CompUSA who is a third-party seller here on Amazon instead of from Tigerdirect who is also a third-party seller here on Amazon. CompUSA is actually owned by the same company that runs Tigerdirect. Tigerdirect still sold this wi-fi router here on Amazon, but the CompUSA price was lower. I figured it had to be coming out of the same warehouse and they were just doing separate accounting for what products sold under their CompUSA store brand versus their Tigerdirect store brand. When I received the wi-fi router, the shipping box from CompUSA and everything inside the box including the invoice were just like if it was coming to me from the Tigerdirect branded store except it said CompUSA. Also, the separate emails (apart from the amazon emails) from "CompUSA" looked like what I remember getting from "Tigerdirect". Anyways, my parents dumped AT&T DSL and switched to cable internet. And they needed a wi-fi router to work with the cable modem. As expected, this was an easy setup. The cable modem was to be connected to a wall connection behind the TV set which was sitting on a shelf built into the wall in the living room. As a result, the cable modem and this Netgear wifi router would be sitting behind and to the right of the TV on that same shelf in the wall. When my parents would watch the TV, they could lean a little bit to right to see the lights on both the cable modem and the Netgear wi-fi router. There was no interference with the TV reception (over-the-air antenna tv) and there were no problems with the wi-fi throughout the house. So, it is all wi-fi for all of the computers at my parents' house with excellent five-bars wi-fi connection to the internet.UPDATE - 2009-DEC-29:I bought another Netgear WGT624 Wireless Router but this time for my sister. Again, it was another refurbished (recertified) wireless router that I bought again from Tigerdirect that they had for sale here on Amazon. It is simply a good product that is easy to set up. Something that I should note, if you have a desktop computer sitting next to your cable modem or your DSL modem and this Netgear wi-fi router, if you don't have an ethernet connection on that computer, try either using an ethernet USB adapter on that computer to directly connect to the Netgear wi-fi router with an ethernet cable -- or use a wi-fi USB adapter. Or, better yet, install a wi-fi PCI card into the motherboard on that desktop computer. My sister's desktop computer had no ethernet connection and I found it to be better to turn that computer into a wi-fi capable computer. Of course, having this Netgear WGT624 Wireless Router is to have other wi-fi capable computers elsewhere in their two-story house to able to have a wi-fi internet connection.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I got this Netgear WGT624 Wireless Router last year and it's been working great. It's turned on all the time sitting next to a Motorola cable modem on top of a bookcase cabinet with their lights blinking. I got this Netgear router for $19 plus S&H. It was recertified and for me that means it works. And at $19 that's a great deal and worth the risk. I want to get another one (since they're not ridiculously expensive) for when if this may possibly go kaput. I don't expect that to happen, but you have to prepare for such a possible eventuality since I don't want to be without a wi-fi internet connection - just be prepared to swap out the old and put in the new. Swapping out things is an old habit I've had from when I did backup systems analyst work having to prepare for things not working and breaking down - I try to have eventual backups (always on the lookout for cheap prices for same equipment that I have) for everything not just software backups but hardware backups also. Anyways, it's simple to set up. Just plug the ethernet cable to connect the router to the cable modem and then plug it all in. You can connect four computers to the router via ethernet cables. I have one ethernet cable going from the router to an eMac and another cable going out but not connected to anything - that's a spare for if I want to have a direct ethernet cable connection for a laptop. Otherwise, it's wireless for my macbook downstairs for me, wireless for my sister upstairs, and wireless to a desktop PC. It all works. When you first set it up, you have to go into the Netgear smartwizard (local) webpage to set things up - I did this via a computer connected to the router via the ethernet cable. Be sure to set the security options (for the encryption) settings with whatever name (SSID) you want for your local network as well as input whatever password/passphrase you want to use. Then go to each of your computers to set up the wi-fi connection by inputting the password/passphrase. Easy to do. Oh, there are two
