I bought this router through Amazon. Apparently it is a refurbished unit, although that was not at all clear when I bought it through Quantum Networks. So that means no customer support which I called because there was NO instruction booklet and NO CD ROM. Plus it doesn't have a built in modem like my other router did. So a complete mess and waste of time. I gave 2 stars instead of 1 since it is likely a brand new unit would have been OK, but be careful who you buy these through as there is very limited documentation and support.

Straightforward setup for AT&T 3.0 Mbps service. Switched from older 2-wire 2701HG.Still getting about the same downstream rate of 2700 Mbps. Still new, but so far no downtimes for the last 3 weeks in the router logs. Easier to restrict sites with this compared to the earlier 2-wire for parental control. A deal, refurbished for 39.95.

I currently own a Netgear WNR834B wireless router which is connected downstairs and wired to my desktop PC and cable modem. Upstairs I have a second desktop PC but no ethernet cable run, so I've been using a Netgear WN121T USB2.0 wireless adapter. With latest firmware upgrades this theoretically provides up to 300mbps connectivity, although I've gotten 243mbps at most per the connection wizard. Actual throughput between machines is typically 30-40mbps, which is terrific for a non-wired connection if you ask me. I know this doesn't sound even like 802.11g, but I've been using wireless devices for a long time and there's a big difference between "hardware rated speed" and "actual Windows throughput", using tools like DUMeter to measure objective speed. This all works fine enough, except that fairly often after many hours of use (or when the temperature in the upstairs computer room rises) something goes south and I lose my connection. I believe it's the WN121T adapter rather than the WNR834B router because many of the other wireless networks I normally can also see in my area suddenly have disappeared. The only solution seems to be to shut down the upstairs PC and let things cool down.Ok, this finally got so annoying that I decided to try something else. In particular I wanted to go with a wireless bridge (connected by ethernet cable to the gigabit network jack on my upstairs PC) rather than a wireless USB adapter. This has many advantages to me and I'd previously had a Linksys 802.11g wireless bridge that worked great. But of course I wanted an 802.11n wireless bridge, which are now commonly called "gaming adapters".Enter my decision to settle on this WNHDE111 from Netgear, to go along with a new WNDR3300 Netgear wireless router. Theoretically these are good matches.Well, both boxes were installed and became operational, except that connectivity speed between the two boxes was seemingly very very slow. Internet download speed (per DSL Reports) from the upstairs box was now 2/3 (6700kbps) what it was with my WN121T (9700kbps) on my 10mb cable modem service. Transfer speeds between my two PCs measured only 8mbps instead of the typical 35mbps I had with the WN121T.Talking to the bridge's firmware, the claim was I had only a 30% signal strength (even though the box was in the same precise location as the WN121T sat at). With my WN121T I show typically 80%-100% (with the WNR834B configured at its maximum capable speed of 270mbps, which usually has a lower signal strength measurement than when configured for a max of only 130mbps).I tried to move the bridge around to improve the signal strength and it went from a low of 20% to a high of 34%, but in no case did my inter-machine connection throughput improve. Very disappointing. Then, it suddenly seemed to stop working. I had no connection, couldn't see the router through it, and couldn't even make contact with it using its IP address of 192.168.0.141 through which I'd communicated previously (and watched the signal strength meter). I pulled the power plug to reboot that way, but to no avail. There's no reset button on the bridge, so if you can't talk to it you're dead. Thus not only did it not perform anywhere near what was expected (actually, I rate it DREADFUL for performance while it was working) but it apparently just died in some way and there was no way to kick it back to life (other than a replacement from Netgear, I guess).I had upgraded firmware in both boxes to the latest available from Netgear, so in theory any complaints due to prior firware levels should not be relevant.RMA time. Both boxes are going back on Monday. I'm back with the WNR834B and WN121T, and although I will have to deal with the occasional but significant connection losses and general nuisance issues with a USB network adapter, at least I get absolutely spiffy performance 99.9% of the time and that's what's important.I recommend you AVOID the WNHDE111 if you're thinking of using it as I was, as a 100% dependable and reliable and FAST 802.11n "transparent" wireless bridge (to a wireless router) connected via ethernet cable to a desktop PC.I can't imagine using this box for gaming or HD video, unless performance is greatly a function of distance and 80 feet and a few walls is NOT in your blueprint. Perhaps being very close to the router is crucial here, but it certainly shouldn't be... not with Netgear's claims.

The internet could be working just fine and then randomly, it will stop working and stop detecting any wireless networks in range... only to magically start working again a few hours or days later. It is not the range since it is only about 15 feet away from my router, so I really do not know what the problem is.

I have had a few problems, though not with the wireless router or connection itself. The website tells me to enter a username and password although I never had a chance to set up ether and I never received the CD that was supposed to come with it. Luckily I didn't need it because it set up very quickly all on its own. But the missing CD may be the reason I can not create an account.

I just want to reiterate the poor reviews that some have provided here. I bought this router to replace an aging Netgear that I had nice luck with except for its range. This one set up easily (using manual settings because the setup program would not work with 64 bit Win7), and initially it connected with high strength to all my devices (4 laptops, 2 ipads, a network printer, media server, an iphone, 2 ipad touch and a wii), Within 12 hours it had dropped internet connectivity to all the wireless devices, requiring a reboot. After doing a ton of searching I tried forcing a fixed IP, changed the MTU and channel settings, and other suggested changes. In the last 12 hours it has dropped connection 2 more times, requiring me to even reboot the cable modem once. I finally reinstalled my old router and this one is headed to the garbage can. I suggest staying away from this model, and maybe this brand.

The DGN2000 replaced my old Linksys router, a Speedstream DSL modem and an older Netgear wireless router. I have 9 devices networked together in my home. 5 computers are wired to the router via gigabit and 10/100 switches. The DGN2000 worked fine for these devices. The modem and wired router worked. The problem was with the wireless functionality. After following the wizard to set up the first wireless device, it worked briefly. However, when I tried connecting a second computer, it would lose the connection. The DN2000 would work briefly, but only if 1 computer was connected. If the computer went to sleep, the connection would be lost upon wake-up. Most of the time it switched from Access Point mode to Ad-Hoc mode and my wireless computers could not connect. I spoke with several Netgear tech support agents and they had me try different channels and security settings. The Netgear agent told me to contact my vendor and ask for a replacement. First, I checked Amazon.com's return policy and noticed that the vendor was actually ANTOnline.com. ANTOnline's policy was that they didn't support the product and that I was to deal directly with the manufacturer. I contacted Netgear again and explained the situation, so they agreed to give me an RMA to replace the DGN2000.The replacement arrived a few days later (after having to pay an expedited shipping charge). The second DGN2000 seemed to work a little better than the first, but it still lost the wireless connection. At least this one worked briefly with 2 computers and an iPod Touch. However, within an hour it would switch to Ad-Hoc mode. Again, after dealing with several tech support reps (including the 2nd tier), they decided to give me another RMA and send a third unit. At least this time, they didn't charge me for shipping. The third unit arrived - same problem. By this time, I was ready to give up on the DGN2000. It was clear this was a poorly designed product. If 3 are bad, it's highly likely the 4th is going to be bad. I checked Netgear's online forum and found several threads discussing problems with the DGN2000. This one about switching from Access Point to Ad-Hoc was exactly the same problem I was experiencing.[...]It's strange that all of Netgear's tech support agents acted like they'd never heard of this problem, when clearly many people were dealing with it.Anyhow, I just wanted my money back so I could purchase a different product. I contacted ANTOnline and asked for a refund and they refused because more than 30 days had passed since purchasing the original product (it had been something like 33 days). Since many of these days included shipping to and from Netgear, the 30 day policy didn't seem fair. I tried getting a refund from Netgear, but they don't provide refunds and were only willing to send me another poorly designed DGN2000. I tried Amazon.com's A-to-Z Guarantee and they wouldn't help because they decided that ANTOnline's written policy was clear and fair.So after spending over [...] and much time and hassle, I still didn't have a product that worked for my wireless networked devices. Finally, after complaining to Netgear, they agreed to replace the DGN2000 with the next step up - DGND3300-100NAS. The DGND3300 is working fine. So at least in the end, Netgear was willing to help me out. However, I would not recommend buying the DGN2000. And for ANTOnline's support and return policy, I won't ever buy something from them again.

I did a lot of research on wireless adapters before purchasing and was very nervous about buying one because we have windows 7 64bit and it seems that a lot of wireless adapters are not compatible. I went to a big box store for advice on what kind to get and was told that netgear regularly updates their drivers online as opposed to some other companies, so it is a safer choice. In the end I ordered from amazon because the prices were so much less. Installation took forever and the disks are worthless if you have windows 7. I started with the installation outlined in the instruction manual and the software could not recognize my device. It came with a CD that supposedly has additional drivers, but ours contained nothing more than an instruction manual. In the end, I had to search the netgear website for correct software, which was a royal pain because the desktop is more than 50 feet from the Uverse router. The 3.1 software that is supposedly compatible with windows 7 did not work, but the older version, 3.0 was able to find the proper drivers and recognize the device right away. I definitely didn't have a 10 minute installation as advertised, but future windows 7 users can save a lot of time by going directly online for software.

If I had a laptop in the same room as the router, well then I could at least connect, although the bars ranged from 3-5 and if I moved to another room dropped out altogether. I spent hours and hours on the phone, changing channels and every other conceivable thing with a very nice, but ultimately ineffectual woman in India. Don't purchase from Netgear. Their objective is to get you to sign up for their prescription support program. I purchased the DGND3300(B) product. It worked great the first 10 weeks and then started to drop the internet connection on a regular basis. My old Speed Stream DSL router still works great, the Netgear fails about every 10 minutes. I purchased the Netgear product due to its level of wireless support.I upgraded the firmware to the latest level, but it did not fix the problem. I expect this is a hardware problem (as no software configuration changes were made prior to the firmware upgrade) and the product is under hardware support for 1 year. However, Netgear support will not do anything even though the product is still under hardware support unless you sign up for their maintenance program which is $70. They will not even give me the docuemntation they supposedly have so I can fix the issue myself - I still suspect hardware. Every person at Netgear support "nicely" tells you you need to sign up for support before they will do anything. It is part of their program.

It can even pick up routers across the street, so I can surf the net all over my yard.Pros: Great signal quality. Strong connections. Backtrack 3 & 4 compatible. Works with Windows XP, Vista, & 7. Also works flawlessly in most popular Linux distributions ( Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Redhat, Backtrack ).Cons: The only thing I don't like is the Netgear Wifi utility. It's inconvenient, cumbersome, and quite useless.Recommended: Run the setup wizard and install without the "Netgear SmartWizard". You'll chose something along the lines of "Microsoft Zero Configuration", once depending on your version of Windows. As an IT Professional, I read many reviews and scoured the Internet looking for a good ADSL router. Having to choose an ADSL router, I knew that they tend to have less performance than normal cable/ CAT5 routers. Anyway, the DGND3300-100NAS seemed like a good choice. Overall the setup was really easy and thumbs up for that. Any non-technical person can follow the wizard with ease. The feature set (bells and whistles) is fine also and I'm ok with that. My big disappointment is signal strength! This DGND3300-100NAS replaced a much older, basic model Linksys but my old Linksys had better range and coverage. This whole notion of "Range Extender" is jibberish! The signal strength is no better than any nominally priced wireless router. If your looking to consolidate everything into one ADSL device, then this is a decent choice but, if your looking for better range/coverage then look elsewhere

I had 2 macbook pro's and iphone's connected to it for the first few weeks.. no problems no resets.. then I connect my wife's laptop which has Windows Vista and the she loses connection every once in a while.. So we cable connect it to the router for usage now.. Now for the last 2 months the router does not allow me to connect to it from my phone or my macbook pro after a few days of usage. A reset is needed.. The funny part is after the reset the router kinda goes bonkers for a while and automatically resets itself every once in a while... So right now I am stuck with this one...have to find a better router out there.. updating the firmware to the latest also did not help the issue..Problems which could be causing the problem1) using different operating systems in the same network..2) using my laptops which are only wireless G capable to connect to the router which is wireless N..but which is backward compatible..Have not found any router which does the job perfect out there.. its basically luck it may work perfectly for some but not so good for others.. it all depends on the how it is used... so cross your fingers when buying any router..

Avoid this product. I got it for free from Comcast, and it was way more aggravation than it was worth. The first setup steps were comically easy, but then it started insisting I had a static IP connection and that I needed to contact my ISP, when the real problem(which I figured out after much aggravation on my part) was that my modem had a battery backup so it wasn't resetting like the powercycling instructions were trying to make it. Once I finally did get it set up, the speed and range were very poor - a laptop 10 feet away in the same room was having slow download speeds. When I tried to fix some things at routerlogin.com(change password, network name, etc.) and some links were broken(in the netgear site), Netgear sent me to Comcast who sent me back to Netgear. After about 4 days of this, I bought a refurbished Linksys E2000 for about $45, was able to set it up in about ten minutes, and have been very happy with the speed and range.
