I have owned a lot of routers and this is one that works pretty well. I decided to update mine and get the faster NETGEAR N600. Hi, this is a gem. It worked instantly on an old Fujitsu laptop reinstalled with Win XP because Fujitsu won't write drivers for Win 7 for it thusly making it almost totally obsolete. Now it works great as an email and browzing machine thanks to this little bargain adapter. Drivers loaded immediately from website (forget the tiny dvd) and then it worked right off the bat with good speed and reliability. I'm a happy camper for this product.

Changed Internet providers and needed new router. Easy to hook up. Works well for all our I phones, wireless printer, wireless lap top, wireless touch smart computer, and our Kindle Fires. Excellent reception in every area if a two story 2200 square foot house.

Almost great. Only problem is keeping the wireless printer up and running. Had to continuously reset network connection on printer until I tired of this and connected it via cable. (This may well be a problem with my printer... just not sure.)

I had one of these for my older Dell desktop operating Windows XP. Lost it while moving. Ordered this one as replacement. Husband gave away computer and monitor to charity without my knowledge. Now I have no use for this item. However, if it is as good as the missing one, it is terrific for XP. I paid $13.99 on Amazon to purchase but would cost at least $8.06 to return so I will try to sell elsewhere...or will donate to charity.

This does everything a modern router needs to do these days. The average router only lasts about 4 years so at about 10 bucks a year you really cannot ask more from it. I hate routers with external antennas these days and for most personal use there is just no need for them unless your house is made out of lead.This this one, put about 20 bones in your pocket and start surfing the web.

I replaced an old Linksys and my download speeds went from averaging 2-3 MB/s to almost 30 MB/s. Setup was less than 3 minutes without a single glitch. Every device in my house connected to the router was up and runninf without a hitch.

As part of getting internet into our Church building, I needed a unit that would not "scream" router, but will have good signal (I'm only utilizing the access point feature of this unit) . This unit was placed at top of one of the building columns and a straight shot with no obstructions to the end our furthest classroom. This unit only dropped one bar at this distance (approximately 250ft.). Plus the band youth leader was also able to get signal within one of the older rooms built of brick and mortar. Needless to say, I'm impressed with the product.

The router was a great replacement for my old netgear router which increased my computer speed two fold. It was very easy to setup and link smart phones. That is the good side ...now the disappointment. I primarily bought this router for awireless connection for my work computer which is a HP product. After several hours on the phone with netgear support...the person on the phone said to purchase another model because this will NOT work with HP computers and this issue would be turned over to engineering. I am looking to replace this with the D Link dIr-655.

After trying for hours to help my father-in-law get his wireless Comcast router going, I determined that it was either broken or just a pain to setup/configure. That's when I purchased this modem. I followed the quick instructions which required me to (1) plug the wireless router into the modem, (2) wait for the green light on the wireless router, (3) search for the wireless router by performing a Wi-Fi search on my laptop, (4) select the wireless router, and (5) enter the secure password (which was conveniently provided on a sticker attached to router's packaging). I removed the sticker and affixed it to the modem for quick reference. I had everything set up in less than 10 minutes. I could have done it faster, but I was taking my time. Everything works great. I even set up a wireless Cannon printer without any issues.

I was told to order this item for my needs for my computer and it did not stand up to my needs. I am not saying the item does not work great. it was just the wrong item for my needs that's all. So I was able to send the item back and was remburssed for the item.Am pleased with the seller. Thank you.

This router has been able to exceed my expectations by installing dd-wrt firmware. Turned this little router into a $160.00 business class router! It even reaches through a house trailer wall to a bedroom.

This router was rock solid for us for 5 years in our business,..with about 10 computers on a network plus 3 more wireless 'guests',.. I recommend putting this and your modem on a UPS, so you don't have reconnect headaches every time there's a power glitch.It still works great,..but we're going with wireless N due to new requirements from our xray dept.

I will start by saying the router works fine and Dealville was very responsive via email in trying to help me set up my router. What I wish I would have known before buying it is that refurbished NETGEAR products do not get phone tech support from the manufacturer. (That is not the case for refurbished APPLE products---I have bought two computers refurbished and they have the same support and the same warranty as brand new.). I needed help setting mine up and all the help was received via email. NETGEAR does have very responsive email support so I did manage to get it set up. However, it took a few days of email exchanges. I had access to my next door neighbor's wi-fi network so it wasn't so bad----but if I hadn't, I would have found it a bit frustrating to not be able to set it up immediately.

I recently got this exact model free from Comcast aka sh*tty Xfinity when I upgraded my speeds from 4 Mbps to 25 Mbps.I'm a gamer, programmer, enthusiast, etc. I demand high speeds which I did get from Comcast, but the free Router they give is absolute piece of donkey crap.I live in a pretty big condo, spanning more that 90 ft in long, 30 ft wide. [1 story folks.] But more than 5 rooms and thick walls. I'm at the furthest point from the router and it is absolute/catastrophic failure. Signal is bad, and the ipv4 & 6 is pretty much non-existent. That's why I resorted to using a CAT5 cable for grounded connections. This product fails to do what it advertises in pretty much every conceivable way...Please do yourself a favor. Do not waste your time, energy, money and nerves with this product, despite all the good reviews. All the reviews giving it a 2star and below, were pretty much true for me as well.Thanks.

Bought this to establish a VPN cloud behind my internet router. After learning the ropes this product has been very reliable and provides a great capability to further secure my internet. Tomato is not the easiest to learn and use but it is do-able. Took me about a week to get the VPN tweaked and running. I have experienced latency using the VPN but its not the routers fault.

I bought this router about a month ago. The initial customer service rep was not helpful and wasted a lot of time. The second one, who is obviously more experienced walked me through and took 5 minutes to complete my installation. A week a ago, I had a power outage and for some unknow reasons, I could not access the internet through the router. I called customer service and the rep who told me he is in India wanted $99 to help me reconnect my router. I know it is some thing sample and I ask him why I would want to pay him $99 for five minutes of his time to set up my $40 router. He will not budge. So, now I have a router that would not work and I feel I am the victim of an extortion ploy. Netgear, if you are listening, this kind of customer service is unacceptable. I have purchased many Netgear product in the past and should not be treated this way. Please let me know how prevalent this kind of business practice is at Netgear. Thanks. Geroge. My email is ecdusa@msn.comLater, I found out that I am entitled to 90 days of netgear " free installation support", I am clearly within 90 days of purchase. Nevertheless, this tech wants $99 from me to help me to install. That is a completely rip off.

I have had this for over a year, it is used every day and has never once given me a problem. I am not a technical person, so when I say the set up was easy, I mean for the average guy (or gal). My wife got tired of wires all over the place, so I bought the Netgear router and this adapter for the desktop computer my grand kids use when they come over after school.

I bought two of them. The reset button on one of them does not work. I ended up having to return it - which is kind of disappointing as I was going to flash DD-WRT to the routers for wireless connection between two routers. It is imperative that the resit button works so that the "hard reset" (30-30-30) can be performed.Otherwise, the router is a breeze to hook up (it is to me - I owned a Netgear WGT624 v3 prior to this one). Now it comes with the "Netgear Genie" that you can access the router functions from your iPad, iPhone, Android etc. It also can do air print. Good value for the price.

Wired connection is fine, but the wireless is terrible! Changing channels, and tinkering with settings has resulted in hours lost - only to find that everyone who has one of these modems has the same issues! It surprises me that Netgear would release such a terrible product! If you use wireless connected device, I would avoid this product.

We received the product in a good condition as advertised; turned it on, and...... it was loosing the network signal, several times a day----when you just surfing the net, it is not terribly upsetting ( but still frustrating), but when you conducting a conference call or a video chat with clients and/or family, friends---- gets to be very annoying. It would be nice to get compensation for these moments of frustration which happen very often. The customer service at Netgear is non-existent; they claim that there is nothing they can do about it----told me to call my internet provider. So basically, they made a router that sometimes work sometimes does not, but they are not responsible for fixing it.What a bunch of bulls***!!!!!

This product is extremely difficult for the layperson to install, however after stumbling upon a review from another we were able to install and use the device. It functions well....too bad their tech support doesn't! Thank you to s7udentman!

Netgear would not allow me to get free technical support for the refurbished WN2000RPT unit I had because it did not have a serial number on it (evidently the indicator to Netgear that it is a refurb). Now I am locked out of my own hardware admin settings because they set my admin password to something other than the published default. I assume the refurb factory knows what the password to my router is. That smells like a huge security risk to me!

I bought this router for a client, because I didn't want to have to deal with flashing a new operating system while I was installing a router. I've had all different kinds - Cisco, Netgear, and even Apple. But the DD-WRT sets this route apart. The rest of the features on the router are pretty well on par with most of what you'll find out on the market.1) The gigabit is where we are at today with speed. Most - even heavy - internet users wouldn't notice a difference unless Google Fiber was in your neighborhood, but you will notice a difference for wired in house transfers. But lets face it, wired ports are on their way out with floppy drives and modems. Look at what's heavily trending with ultrabooks and you'll see what I'm talking about. The newest Apple books are so thin they won't support built in ethernet without a dongle.2) Adding a storage device to the router is really easy3) Setup is a breeze for both Mac and PC.Overall I really like the product, but I specifically bought it because I wouldn't have to load a new firmware on it.

I wanted a v3 adapter, and this product came up in the search. It didn't specify which version the adapter was. When I got it, it was a v2 and wouldn't work. The return was exceptionally easy, but I wish I could have gotten the right product to begin with.

Bought this item to use in secondary location due to reasonable price. It worked for 2-3 days then the power light started to constantly blink with orange colour.Have had to reboot too many times to get a constant green power light. Am frustrated. I must say setup was easy even without installation CD.

The item I received was labelled as new on the packaging, and with the correct ASIN number, but it did not have a serial number. When I contacted Netgear technical support for assistance, I was informed that any unit without a serial number is refurbished and does not qualify for technical support. So buyer beware!

The router arrived earlier than expected and in great shape. It was very easy to set up, and worked just fine right out of the box. It does what it says it will do: provide you with a decent wireless router. I can use the laptop anywhere in the house but I must admit that my house is a small, 3-bedroom ranch. The router can be password protected which is what I wanted. The lights on the front of the router are very bright, and that is the only reason I did not give the router five stars.

Bought this item for a relative. I went over to set it up which was easy enough. I loaded in the CD and ran the program to setup the router it basically messed up the settings and didn't work. tried to manually do it still had trouble. Ended up spending over an hour on the phone talking with a tech to get it working. I recommend this item for its range and it does run great. But i wouldn't put in the installation cd and just do it manually following the directions that come with the unit.

I buy a lot of manufacturer refurbished items, and they've never let me down. Actually, I've saved a fortune over the years with them. Everyone told me that Netgear made the best wireless routers, so I was very pleased when I found this inexpensive one on Amazon. To date, It works like a champ, and I've never had a problem with it =)

I recommend this wireless adapter--great price, low profile, and good performance. I replaced my daughter's network adapter on her laptop that was of full length with this one. Now I don't have don't have to worry about the adapter breaking off from being exposed.

I am fairly comfortable with electronics and this router was really easy to set up. I would say that even with minimal experience with routers and computers, the instructions and setup program provided with the router will make set up a breeze for most people. The range is pretty good; I can get a signal from the router, which is set up in the basement, up on the second floor without any range extenders. Relatives and friends who visit have had no trouble accessing the network as well.

It took me forever to get this router working. It did not contain a disc for installation and since it was a refurished router (thought I'd save some money) the customer service person told me he could not help me!!

After some reservations about buying this item after reading some of the reviews, I am very happy with how this modem/router is working. It was a bit of a headache to set up due to AT&T not supporting this modem when I was trying to set it up, however, once that was done I am picking up the wireless flawlessly in other rooms and through walls. The DSL side of this works just as well and I am pleasantly surprised at how well it does work for the price I bought this for. I hope I am not eating my words by writing this review, but so far it is working great for me!

My wife received a Kindle for Christmas last year (2011).She has had nothing but trouble trying to stay online with the Cisco router.Browsing Amazon, I found several reviews on the Netgear WNR1000, and most were very happy with the results.The router detects weak signals (Kindle must be) and ups the signal ratio for those.The Netgear has been fantastic ever since being hooked up.

The only thing this received does well is dropping the connection after 30 seconds. Sometimes it stays connected for a few hours, in a good week maybe a day or two, then all of sudden for no good reason it goes haywire. When that happens chances are even if you reset the device it will drop the connection again for the new few hours. You can't even connect to the web interface when it does that, just goes dead.

I had no problem installing this wireless adapter and it picks up our wireless network almost as good as the one that was installed inside the laptop before it died. Best part is that it is so small , my son cannot bend or break it like he did with the larger one that he was using before.

When I initially plugged in the router it seemingly worked great, but after about 15 minutes of use. The router frozen, and though I attempted restarting it over several times. I took it over my friends house and attempted to install it on his network and the computer wouldn't even read the router. I suggest anyone looking for a router buy a new one and leave refurbished routers alone.

I had the UBS versions before this one. They were weak and never very consistent. I am sending a signal form the main floor to the basement, but only about 25 feet in lateral distance. But it does lie along a utility channel (ductwork and such, finshed out with seetrock in the basement ceiling) and I'm told that can interfere with the signal. It doesn't have to cross it, just virtually parallel it from the router upstairs on the desk, thru the floor at some poiont, and along the room in the basement to the dektop.Installation wasn't anything for the hardware part, easy for first timers, too (even though I'm not). The horrible Acer computer I have makes it more challenging. After some restarts and removals and reboots the software's on there fine. The directions aren't verbatm to the things I see in XP, but close enough to get the job done.I'd recommend the item if you are stuck using this older technology, which I'm not going to updgrade until we get a new machine for the kids. The complaint level while they're doing itunes and stuff about "the internet's not working" are way, way down. The desktop I use upstairs that's connected via hardwire to the router to the modem, as welll as my son's laptop, never have any trouble with the signal from the Netgear Rangemax WPN824v3 Router. Nor does my laptop when i work at home. Yet I believe it's the basement locale and the Acer that are the issue, not the adapter.

Although I was not too sure with this refurbished idea, it has worked just as good as a new one. You don't get the help with customer service if you buy refurbished, but it was still a great deal. I am very satisfied with the product, and would buy refurbished again.

I purchased this for my tech-neophyte father. The setup was great; it was SO much easier than my first router (4-5 years old). The key isn't some infinitely un-memorizable string of text, the passwords are provided, and I think it took all of six minutes to set up. You could probably find hardware that would meet your basic needs for cheaper, but my 5-year experience with my Netgear router makes me think that this was a really good choice.

So you want your own VPN? Great. You can re-task a couple of old PCs to run openvpn or just get a couple of those routers.When you flash a router with new firmware you always run a risk of 'bricking' the router and making it useless unless you have the means to recover it.This involves opening the case and wiring up a serial port to the internal pins. Not hard for a tech guy, but why go through the hassle?I bought two of these routers for about what you would pay anywhere else, but they were already flashed with tomato vpn/usbTomato is a variant of the firmware that makes setting up the vpn a lot easier via a gui. The added bonus of the USB module is that you can attach a USB drive directly to the router and the share it via samba, ftp or even http file sharing(EXT2/3 NTFS and FAT no Mac formatted drives)All in all, this is the fastest way I can think of to get a VPN up with a minimum about of hardware and configuration.Of course, you still have to learn HOW to set up the vpn, but there is plenty of help for that online.Good purchase, I intend to buy several more.Two hints to save you some hassle if you've never set one up before.1) The routers must connect to a time server. They will not connect if the clocks are off.2) use the tunnel (TUN) and put the client, the server and the VPN in their own subnets. I kept putting the vpn in the same subnet as the router (server) because I thought that was what I needed to do.If you do that then routers will connect but you will never be able to communicate into the client subnets, nor they into the server subnet..(mentioned so others can learn from my pain :-) )

This router was easy to set up and is working well. It has only needed reset once outside of times when the modem or other connections were first messed with. My only beef is that I wish they didn't feel the need to use so many darn lights. Yes, it's good to glance up there and see that all is well, but that's rarely needed and the darn thing glows so bright we can use it as a nightlight.
