I bought this for an older laptop my kids use for homework. There were several speeds to choose from and I've purposefully selected the slowest (and the cheapest) one. At 54 Mbps it's still fast enough for their homework and occasional internet research. It's very easy to install and comes with a nice configuration panel. It's easy to use and makes the kids laptop that much more portable. They can take their laptop anywhere in the house and do homework, without having to worry about being close to Ethernet ports and cables to trip over. Good value for the price. The product works as designed, I recommend it.

This is the worst product I have ever ordered. I received this product and noticed that there was no setup cd or even any directions. I called Netgear to see if they could walk me through setup and I was told that any refurbished items they sell don't come with a setup cd or directions. They then told me if I wanted any help I would have to pay for a 12 month warranty that included technical support. The router came with a 30 day warranty but it apparently doesn't include technical support. What horrible customer service Netgear has and they obviously don't care about keeping customers because I will never again buy anything from them again and will let everybody I know not to bother buying anything from them either.

I brought this dsl and router combo after reading many reviews. I had and AT&T 2 wire router which was ok but it would drop the connection about 20 times a day. After reading the reviews decided to buy this router and I was able to get it in used for like new condition for about half the price. It was in excellent condition when it arrived. It took some time to set up, had to call tech support which took about an hour. once set up this unit is great it has never dropped or lost it connection for over a month. I love this unit, will definitely buy another one.

I purchased Netgear DGND3300 to replace my 3 old equipment: DSL modem, router and AP. The setup was very easy and I got everything I had wanted, except one important feature: fast file transfer between my network drive (NAT) and my laptop which was why I wanted to upgrade my old system at the first place.I was able to get a file transfer rate of 70mbps between wired devices. But, the LAN and WAN is a completely different story. Althoug the link icon was reporting 270mbps, the actual file transfer rate was fixed at 15mbps. This was exactly the same rate I had with my previous wireless-G AP and 10/100 router. I have done all kind of experiments using multiple laptops including a brand new HP Envy 15 next to the antena. It appears that Netgear simply put 3 hardwares together without concerning the linkage amount them. The 270mbps works on paper because the bottleneck is at WAN and LAN. I found absolutely no benefit of using this Wireless-N. To prove I was not an idiot, I borrowed a gigabit wireless-N AP from my borther-in-law with my old 10/100 router and enjoyed a 70mbps file transfer rate between NAT and my HP Envy.I had contacted the tech support multiple times. Except being polit, they were not very helpful. They just said my unit was a defective one. Then, I found a 2-star review on Amazon saying there was a hardware limit of 2MB/s (16mbps) transfer rate between USB to LAN. I think it might apply between LAN and WAN.One more minor software problem (might be just for me): you can only setup one schedule to manage the firewall for parent control. This is not enough if you want to control the gaming and the regular intenet access at different schedules for chidren with different ages. My 10-year-old Seimens router allows 6 schedules.I returned this unit back to Amazon.com which was the first return out of >50 purchases. The return process went through very easily.Don't buy this product if you are interested in using NAT for your wireless devices.

To those with the random cutting out of the internet, I think I have a solution for you. I messed around and changed one setting and I have yet to experience the internet cutting out again.I noticed that when the signal cut out and I'd unplug and plug in my WG111T usb adapter, it was very hot, and sometimes plugging it back in wouldn't fix the internet unless I restarted the router as well. So...In Windows 7:* Right click on your desktop, select "Personalize".* Click Screen Saver, then go to "Change Power Settings".* Click "Change Plan Settings", then click "Change Advanced Power Settings".* Click the + by "Wireless Adapter Settings", then "Power Saving Mode".* Change the option to "Low Power Saving".Mine was originally set to "maximum performance", which is why I think it was overheating and causing problems. I am using the original driver that came on the CD included with the adapter, as I couldn't get the v2 driver to work for whatever reason and had to go back to the original.Hope this helps!

Bought this router/modem combo to replace my parents dying 2Wire 1701HG gateway. It looked pretty simple to set up at first; everything was provided for me even though I didn't require it, and newbies would likely have an easier time first setting the modem to an ethernet-connected computer. Found the DSL connection easily enough with only having to shut down the firewall for a few minutes. And bam, within five minutes, the directly connected computer was online. However, when it came to connecting the two wireless computers we have (Including my own), it presented me with a bit more of an issue. The computers would automatically find the gateway, but would not automatically connect nor configure properly when they did. I had to manually create a new connection and configure it so that it would accept the modem. Took a little bit of hair pulling to get it to connect the wireless connections up properly, even being experienced with computers. The administrator menu might be a little confusing for people who don't know what they're doing, and some functions aren't working properly because of faulty javascripting. But the admin menu features a sidebar to give a bit of a description on what is available on each menu. I just feel it wouldn't be enough for someone who hasn't done it before.Once that was set up, everything has been working fine. It has a slight overheating problem, so I would suggest using the stands that come with it to set the modem up in a vertical fashion. Once I did that, most of the overheating issues went away and the slowdowns I had with it.As of writing this, it's running World of Warcraft wirelessly with a Netgear RangeMax Wireless-N PCI adapter with a latency hovering between 100-200ms, so it is at least decent for online gaming. Not perfect, but still better than I was getting.

I feel that this was a pretty good investment so that I could stream movies to my TV through netflix. I have had no trouble at all with streaming and would recommend it to anyone that needs another connection. The instructions are a little vague, but a quick search on the web on how to get the wireless router and the bridge to interact took care of that. I have a netgear wireless router as well so that may have made it a little easier too. I may end up getting another one to use with my PS3 soon due to some rearranging of the house that will be happening soon, so I will have to write another review once that is in action and get some time to roll with it for a while.

We have been extremely disappointed with this product and with Netgear. We bought it in December and it started having problems after one month. We were in contact with Netgear customer service on several occasions (over 15 times), but ultimately in month 3 of owning the router, it completely stopped working. Netgear kept blaming the problem on our internet provider (AT&T), so we bought two other router/modems. Both of these worked really well, but still the DGND3300 would not work. It took an entire month of battling with Netgear to receive an RMA number from them so that we could exchange the product. (After one month, it could no longer be returned to the store where we bought it.)During this battle, keep in mind that Netgear did everything possible not to exchange the product. They told us it all had to be done by email, but they stopped responding once we proved that the product was defective. As a result, the case was automatically closed due to inactivity. When we called customer service, no one answered the phone, the voicemail was full, and no hours were given for when someone is in the customer service office. (We called at various times of the day.) One time out of five attempts I reached customer service only to have them say that tech support is in charge of RMAs (returns), while tech support says customer service is in charge of returns. One month after receiving the replacement product (for which the customer is responsible for shipping), it stopped working again. Unfortunately, the software warranty is only good for 90 days after purchasing the ORIGINAL product, not after receiving the actual product that you have on hand. They say that they are absolutely unable to provide refunds; they can only do replacements. Why would I ever want another Netgear product? Their supposed "best" product breaks within one month, and the customer service is a joke.

Purchased this AP because my blu-ray and dish receiver are located on the other side of the house. After the initial setup to pair with my WNDR3700 it was working great for streaming from my dish receiver and blu-ray updates etc. Woke up today with no connectivity and even though I would try to set it back to factory defaults it would not reboot. I spent 5+ hours of my day today just attempting to get to the devices home screen with no success. I am glad that I didn't have to pay full price for this. Now I am back to a 50' Ethernet cable stretched through my house to a network switch. On the bright side I don't have as many wireless radio running though my body anymore. Maybe next time I will try the "home-plug" route to an Ethernet switch.

Bought this in the summer of 2008 for use in a home office network environment. Most of the poor reviews here relate to the setup and use of VPN; I just wanted a hardware firewall with an 8 port wireless router, and I didn't want to pay a lot. As an 8 port wireless router, this device rocks. It was a cinch to set up and configure, and it does exactly what I want it to do.Today the router stopped working. No power. I called Netgear, and in less than 15 minutes, I had a replacement on its way for just the price of shipping. No faxing in receipts, no waiting for hours online. The power supply was initially suspect, but it tested fine with a voltmeter. It has a 3 year warranty, whereas the router itself has a lifetime warranty. YEAH! In this age of throwaway products, it is nice to see such a great warranty and service on a product that sold for $150.If I was setting up a VPN, I might be as cranky as some of the other folks here. My only complaint was the wireless strength: with the stock antennae, my reception in the house was poor, half of what the consumer-grade Netgear router provided. (BTW, nice to have the consumer router as a backup while I wait for the replacement). But I purchased one of those booster antennaes that looks like an upturned soda can, for about $25, and it tripled the signal strength. Now I get wifi all over the house.

Due to the nature of my work, I have used several types of these 54Mbps wireless cards. The only 2 Wireless Homenetworking I recommend to others is either D-Link or Netgear.I personally am using a 54Mbps wireless WG111 USB adaptor on my PC plus 2 others in the house. In addition I use the Neatgear 54Mbps Wireless Card (WG511) for my older Dell laptop. I have used these adaptors for over a year and have not had to replace them, or have had any problem with their peformance.I have installed hundreds of these for customers. It does come with software for the drivers, AND comes with a NETGEAR PROGRAM that overides windows. I never use the program personally. I just use the CD for the drivers, after insert the adaptor. It also comes with the software updates for vista.I found that as long as you have a Wireless Netgear Modem, it never seems to have any problems with 128bit encryption or 64bit (which is what I mostly use)The biggest reason for any Netgear adaptor 128 or 64 bit is 1st) If you use install and use the NETGEAR PROGRAM, then the best way to avoid internet drop off, is to enter you 64 or 128 bit encryption password on the first page of the progam IN THE MANUAL SLOT and not the 2 slots for above! Trust me I know.2nd) If you plug the adaptor in, and then insert the CD just for the drivers (when prompted) WITHOUT using Netgears program, then you have to set internet options to set LAN and check "automatic" and leave proxy settings alone. Then right click on the little wireless pic in your tray, and select "status" then "properties". From there at the top box scroll down to TCP/IP and click properties and make sure "automatic is checked" The click close and click the middle tab. If there is more than 1 network in your area or in that box, remove them all, except yours. Then make sure to check the box "let windows configure my wireless settings for me" and on the last tab check the box "automatically connect to this network when in range" After that click okay, and close. It may start to try and connect right then, or you can right click on the little wireless computer in tray and select "view wireless networks" and you will see your there, click connect and it will prompt you for you password, twice and thats it. You don't have to type in the password any more. Everytime you turn on your computer, it will automatically detect settings and connect you to your wireless internet network. It sounds like a lot, but it really is simple and will prevent internet drop off tremendously!I setup networks for a living and years ago, I used to pull my hair out sometimes, until I finally found out what works the best, regardless of number of networks, users or 64 and 128 encyrption. If the router is setup correctly and you install Neatgear wireless usb or card, you will be very happy. I have moved and used the same USB and CARD for my laptop with 3 dirrent networks, and all I did was set it up with the new password and it is working as of now.Hope this helps

Hooked up in minutes 2 computers one desktop via cat5 cable and one laptop via wireless. NO problems works like a charm. Such a difference from the Seimens Windstream 4200 piece of crap that I had hooked to the garbage TP-Link before. It is a modem and router in one. Had no problem other than the simple questions from the ISP Windstream (the people on the phone suck the in field workers are great) but the ISP actually is realiable. This version of the NETGEAR WG111 software has too many bells and whistles. The original version was simpler to install and use. The next version was more complicated than necessary and this last version is even more so. But they all do a good job and have good range. I've never gotten one that did not work OK. I've used them for 4 or 5 years on various computer brands. Even have had good results using them as the pickup for a parabolic reflector for long range Wi-Fi (AKA Scabbing). This last version I received had a much cheaper USB extension cable than the original. One of them did not work at all but I got by in this case simply by plugging the dongle directly into the USB jack. Can't be beat considering the price. So far I've never had one go bad with use----KNOCK on wood!

I bought this about a month ago along with the Netgear Rangemax WNDR3700 Dual Band wireless router Netgear Rangemax WNDR3700 Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (Black) and both are working just fine. I hooked this bridge up to my Tivo and Blu-ray player and it is working great. I'm able to stream Netflix from the Tivo without any drops in the connection. Since it only has two ethernet ports I switch out the Blu-ray with a PC that I have connected to my TV and it also works fine. Download speeds are quite high, almost the same as wired. Although I wish it had more ethernet ports, generally you don't have a need for a constant connection for all the devices so it isn't a problem to switch. And most bridges only have one port.I live in a condo so for me the range is fine. As many have noted, this bridge works only in the 5ghz band so if your wireless router isn't dual band or 5 ghz then you need two of these, one as an access point and the other as the bridge. One last note, Netgear has fixed the problems with their WNDR3700 router with firmware updates on their website, which will be your first option to do once you've installed the router.Update: January 10, 2011Original bridge still working with no problems after 7 months. I bought another one last month to essentially do the same hookup in my bedroom, a Tivo and a Blu-ray player and both are working. Both bridges connect to my WNDR3700 wirelessly at 5ghz. And I am able to transfer non-protected programming from one Tivo to the other wirelessly. Easy set-up too, no complaints.

The modem/router downloads/uploads faster than the standard AT&T box that they send out with a DSL account. They only lasted about two years and this third box was getting dodgy so I switched to NetGear. I would have preferred one from Cisco - that one is super-easy to install on a Comcast cable network (but since I don't have Comcast at this location . . . ) The NetGear manual was not very helpful and the web interface setup was too cryptic - they assume the user is very knowledgeable. The packaged CD for installation was useless on the Mac even though it booted, eventually. Overall this box is a better wireless modem/router than the standard thingy from AT&T.

I was unable to configure using the CD so I called Tech Support. I could not understand the 1st Tech so I called back and talked to a 2nd Tech. He went through his chart with me 5 to 6 times, over several hours. (Apparently unaware that one of the signs of insanity is repeating the same action over and over and expecting a different result.)Finally he said: "I am unable to solve the problem". I asked if there was someone there who could help. He said a "Senior Tech" might be able to solve the problem. I asked if I could speak to the Senior Tech. His reply was (verbatim quote) "I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO SPEAK TO THE SENIOR TECH until you have called AT&T and verified that there is no problem with their line. (Exactly how he would know whether or not I actually called AT&T is a mystery.) I called AT&T and verified that the line was working fine. I called back (3rd time) and was granted permission to talk to The "Senior Tech". He suggested unplugging and replugging items as he muttered various imprecations (mostly incomprehensible although I thought I heard "Feng Shui" mentioned). We finally got the lights to come on and I was promptly abandoned by Netgear's Tech Support.I was unable to access Youtube via my wireless LG BD 590 DVD Player.I then spoke to the very courteous Tech Support at LG including 1 tech, a "super tech" and a supervisor. The eventual unanimous opinion was that The Netgear DGND3300 appeared to be incompatible with The LG BD 590.Please note that it was very simple and easy to access Youtube and Netflix via the LG BG590 using the AT&T 2 Wire Modem/router. A more knowledgable PC user might have more success but I certainly wouldn't recommend this modem/router.I explained the above to Amazon and they refunded my purchase price.

I tested the Netgear WNR 2000 router on this setup:iMac G4, system 10.4.11 (wired)Safari 3.1.2 web browserDSL broadband---iPod Touch, first generation (wireless)PlayStation 3 (wired & wireless)Sony Vaio laptop (wired)Apple iBook laptop (wireless)Setup:*Setup and configuration on my iMac was fairly easy, even though the Netgear setup Wizard is not available for Macs. All I had to do was insert the "Start Here" CD-ROM and click on an HTML document. After that, I followed the basic step-by-step setup instructions by accessing the router through a web browser.*However, a key thing that made setting up the router simple was that I already had my computer configured to use a wired DSL router. Somebody setting up a router and a network for the first time might need more help, especially Mac specific help, than the CD-ROM offers.Pros:*The router is quite compact and doesn't have any external antennas.*The power adapter is Energy Star certified and has a slim profile. Anybody using a plug strip will appreciate the adapter's small footprint.*Each time the router is turned on, it automatically checks for firmware updates.*All the critical information for running the router is printed on the back panel (MAC address, default login name and password, security PIN). The back panel also has a power on/off button, which is an unusual--and appreciated--feature for a router.*According to the Shields Up firewall checking website (grc.com), the built-in firewall is set to complete stealth mode by default.*Most of the instruction screens that are part of the web browser-based configuration function are clearly written and easy to understand.Cons:*The Ethernet ports do not support gigabit Ethernet.*There isn't any way to change the login name used to configure the router (it is easy to change the password, however).*It took me some trial-and-error to figure out how to restrict wireless access to the router using MAC addresses. Neither the documentation nor the web browser interface help screens were much help.*The status lights glow either amber or green. Unfortunately, the amber color can be difficult to distinguish from the green without looking closely at the router.Operation:*No problems with the wired connections to my DSL modem, desktop computer, PS3, and obsolete Sony laptop.*No problems with the wireless connections to my iPod, PS3, and an old iBook. I surfed the Web and used various web applications on the iPod and iBook. On the PS3, I did some downloads from the PlayStation Store and played Resistance 2, Pure, and Burnout Paradise online.*I live in a densely populated area (both people and WiFi networks) and the router seems to be effective at both avoiding interference and maintaining contact with whatever is connected to it. However, I don't know how well the router would perform in a multiple story house or apartment.Bottom line: The Netgear WNR 2000 is a good router for basic WiFi connections. If you are a Mac owner and don't feel comfortable setting things up without some handholding, you might want to consider an Apple Airport instead. Also, power users who do a lot of video streaming, connect multiple computers to WiFi, require gigabit Ethernet ports, or want an extremely strong signal with maximum range may want to consider Netgear's RangeMax routers.------Update (January 2010): I am now using this router with an i7 iMac running system 10.6.2 without any problems.Update (March 2011): Still running without any problems. Now using system 10.6.6 .Update (December 2011): No problems to report. Using system 10.6.8 now.Update (May 2012): Just began using a different router. The WNR 2000 router provided 3 1/2 years of service without any problems. Nicely done, Netgear.

I'm on two devices inside of one week and the second is no better than the first. The problem is the same between them, and repeated by others here. Basically, the wireless router provides IP address to all your home devices through a service called DHCP. For whatever reason, the DHCP server inside this wireless router is flaky. A device will link (wirelessly) to the router instantly, but will have to wait 30 to 120 seconds before being issued an IP address. Most routers do this in a faction of a second, and some computers freak out if it takes more than a few seconds. So this one is going back to the store, and unfortunately I'm going to start avoiding Netgear; I have a wireless-g router from two years ago which overheats every few days (it looks just like this, except it's white) but couldn't return so it sits as an emergency spare.

This is a reasonably priced single band (5 GHz) bridge and Access point. I am using this as a wireless bridge. There are few other competing products in this area from Linksys (WET610N) that supports dual band but cannot be used as an access point and has only one Ethernet port. The second product is from D-LINK (DAP-1522) which has four gigabit ports, can work as an access point and a bridge. The price for both these devices is much higher then the Netgear WNHDE111.I have paired it with Netgear WNDR3700 Router. Setup was very easy, I just pushed the WDS button on both the router and bridge and within a minute it was all setup. But it was a pain to optimize this thing so it wouldn't drop connections every few minutes. The firmware support page does say under known issues something like "in high traffic environments the bridge drops the connection and reconnects itself occasionally". I believe I don't have a very busy traffic in my home. I do have my router on second floor and my bridge on first floor at the opposite end. The signal does have to travel through a wall. The first problem was range on 5 GHz router and to improve that you need to play with additional channels on your router to see which one gives you the best signal. It turned out channel 157 on my router is it for me. Now I get consistent 70 percent and above signal on my bridge. But, the bridge would still drop connections at a very high rate. Changing the setting to 20 Mhz after a lot of experimenting with different values fixed the issue. The throughput now is around 38 Mbits which should be good to stream two HD quality video streams. Once setup properly for your situation, it works without any issues. I have tested this setup by streaming six of my DVD's and did not see any issue. Very happy with the purchase now. I bought it from Amazon for $41 refurbished with shipping included.

The description does not tell you have to assign each wireless device to one one of 4 ports. I have more than that in the house. 2 cell phones, Dish box on wireless, and three computers on wireless. Plus a wifi thermostat. My 2wire DSL from ATT works just fine with all of these. The netgear does not. It is going back. I bought it for speed also, but found no difference from b/g to N on the internet. Also gets very warm.

I have had this router for about 2 years, bought new. I have used 2 different service providers, one with DSL and one with Cable. This product was the common denominator in the constant problems I have with my wireless internet connectivity. It is a piece of junk. I first noticed problems after owning for about 10 months, and called their AWEFUL service center which is clearly outsourced to India. The reps and supervisor I spoke with troubleshot my problem with disregard, then concluded blamed the problem on my service provider. After going around and around with diagnostic checks, 2 service calls to my house, etc... with Time Warner (whose customer service sucks also), it was clear that the problem had to be the router. By this time I was just past the 12 month warranty on the router, and supervisor in India couldn't have cared less about my previous complaint and explained that the warranty did not apply.

I purchased a new netgear router and this USB adapter. The router installed flawlessly on my Win 7 64 system BUT the adapter would not install. I even tried selecting the Update software option as my computer was still wired to the router. The installation software checked the web and said the CD had the most recent version. I called NetGear tech support and found out that the CD did not have the most recent version. Once I downloaded the new version, everything worked perfectly. Netgear support was patient and, after an hour on the phone, still waited for me to restart my computer, without the wired connection, and made sure I had a good internet connection. Netgear tech support is the reason I gave this 5 stars.

I got a new computer and wanted to move this one to a place in the home where there isn't a jack and the computer had no wifi. This usb does the trick. Had a couple times where it wouldn't work and we just unpluged it and rebooted and it worked. Not sure if that is from Microsoft or this, but happened seldomly and I don't think it has happened for quite a while now. I would buy this product again and recommend it to those looking to get an older computer onto their network at home.

I bought this "gateway" to replace one supplied by AT&T (2Wire). The DGND3300 is feature rich and I did not find setup too difficult, although I must confess to being a neophyte at wireless networking. This gateway is supposed to be energy conserving. Though I am unclear as to whether this is a marketing gimmick or some feature of the device that "powers down, I do wonder if this explains fluctuations in signal strength? I have a Netgear repeater (downstairs) that loses signal to the gateway (upstairs). This necessitates a hard reboot of the repeater about twice a week. Using a laptop downstairs, I notice that when the repeater has lost its signal acquisition (red light) that if I then attempt to connect to the Netgear Gateway, the repeater reacquires a signal.

The Ethernet cable ports work fine. But initially had wireless connection problems - real flaky, and unreliable. Contacted tech support and fixed it.If you have wireless problems, try changing the channel in wireless settings to another fixed channel. I changed it from Auto to 11 and it cured the problem. Then click "Apply".The tech support is real pesky about "registering" your product, wanting your name, address, email, etc. I refused. We are overwhelmed with junk email and postal mail advertising. We are getting on in age and the recycling gets heavier each time to take out.

After trying other range extenders and not being satisfied, I tried the Netgear Range Extender as a last resort before wiring the house. My wifi is set up at one end of the house and cannot get wifi at all in the kitchen and very low reception at the far end of the house. This range extender gives me 3 bars no matter where I am in the house. It is a fantastic product and by far the best on the market.

Read the title. Even with the latest versus of Netgear's drivers or the Windows 7 plug and play drivers, this adapter causes consistent bluescreens whenever the network is under load. I suspect the hardware is defective. There are dozens of other wireless adapters out there - buy one of them.

Replaced my ISPs Zhone modem with this one and it works fantastic. Shaved 10ms of my ping tests and a definite improvement in online COD games.QOS controls works very well especially for online gaming. I have not tried streaming HD on the 5ghz band but so far on the 2.4ghz band no issues with my WDTV Live.Recent firmware adds vpn endpoint features. Generally more features here than the Cisco\Linksys or Asus ADSL modems that I had looked at before making my purchase.Interface very easy to understand and use, more responsive than the Linksys' interface probably because the processor is faster on the Netgear.Has not dropped an adsl connection since I installed it almost 3 weeks ago.

I just picked up this router a few days ago for a new laptop. My current set up is with AT&T dsl and other routers I tried did not mesh well with this system. Either they would drop the connection or download speeds were extremely slow. The set up on this router was a snap; just pop in the disk and the program walks you through the rest. The connections are color and symbol coded which makes set up easy for those new to wireless routers. Initial set up took about 8 minutes from start to finish and my laptop recognized the connection immediately. So far, I have no complaints regarding performance. The unit powers up and makes connections in under a minute. Speeds are comparable to a wired connection and I have not experienced any dropped connections. Both the router and the power brick are small and stay cool. While the unit is constructed primarily of plastic, it feels solid and doesn't look cheap or like a toy. There is a small power button located on the back of the unit which can be located easily by touch. The front panel is silver with multiple small indicator lights in green and blue and while they are a bit bright, they serve the function in which they were intended. The antennae is small and can be adjusted or folded down so it is flush with the unit. While I haven't had time to really test connection at a signficant distance from the router, the signal strength is strong throughout the house.Overall, I have been pleased with this router so far. The price point is excellent and set up was considerably easier than several other brands I tried.

Purchased this device with another Netgear device(same type just without wireless) to perform a site to site vpn as well as manage my network. I had some stability issues with this device as well as the VPN would almost always drop. Most of the time I had recycle the device to get it back. I eventually had to replace these devices as they where not meeting my needs. I had contacted netgear support there response was to reapply the same firmware and test again. Eventually gave up and purchased Zywall's to replace these and am extremely pleased with them.

I bought this as a replacement for the DG834 which finally stopped working after the phone line got struck by lightning... In many ways the DG834 was superior - even with the 834's tiny external antenna, it far out reached the DGND3300's - DGND3300's wireless coverage went up and down and was not very consistant even though the device was stationary. Other reviews that claim the 3300 worked are probably accurate, but they must of been talking about "ideal" working conditions - like same room. Clearly this device is NOT IDEAL for traversing walls of any significance or frequency - you cannot replace an external antenna with an internal antenna and expect similar or better results - this is technically impossible! Also didn't like DGND3300 configurations for "guest" - seems needless and confusing and overall, the device ran much hotter than the DG834. In terms of DSL modem based wireless routers, there are very few choices out there that perform as advertised. The only one I'd rate highly is the DG834, beyond that, the products out there lack its effective range and features.UPDATE: I ended up buying the Actiontec 300 Mbps Wireless-N DSL Modem Router (GT784WN) which has both DSL modem and wireless N. I've got to say, this is the best wireless router with a DSL modem I've seen. Rock solid, very good reach, and easy setup. Still runs a little warmer than I'd like, but beyond that a very good choice.

If you disable DHCP you can turn it into a great wireless switch but you need a router between it and the internet. I use a cheap Vonage router and it works much better than the FVG318. FVG318 has constant bugs, "cable disconnected" repeatedly on all computers, no Windows 7 on the one I bought, can not get to many popular sites, silly. Crap...but a great dumb switch.

I am very glad and so impressive from the services from fastfriendlyservice.I ordered a NETGEAR WG111 Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (54 Mbps) sometime last Dec through Amazon. However, I did not receive the shipment even though the record from USPS showed home delivery. This matter remained a mystery for the reason why USPS delivered but I did not receive.I tried but not much hope to resolve this issue since the seller did ship the adapter. Because of that, it is not the seller's responsibility. However, the seller "fastfriendlyservice" sent me emails and saying would like to ship me a replacement. I received the adapter yesterday.I highly applause the services from fastfriendlyservice because of their handling customer issues with professional attitude and trust. Although adapter is a small order, but my on-line ordering with fastfriendlyservice gave me very pleasant experience.
