This is a very capable Wifi extender. However, it is NOT a bridge. It WILL functionas a bridge if you buy TWO of them. This isnot at all clear when you buy it. However, itis very clear on the documentation including theoutside packaging.THere are much cheaper implementations of aWIFI bridge for less than the cost of two ofthese.

I'm not a geek and I don't like down time, so this was the ticket. Set up was super fast, I'd say 10 minutes plus a few more of power off and then on so the settings stick. My Apple laptop picked up the network without a hitch, and my Win XP machine (cabled to the router, not wireless) didn't give a peep, just started going. I was up and running in no time. I like the setup, it was painless.

Bought this product to be able to move data faster to my server. No issues in setup at all. What I do not understand is why this product has less range than it's 2.4 GHZ counterparts. It is clearly stated on the box that this should be better! I was going to run a 5 GHZ in parallel to my 2.4 GHZ (n) network for gaming and moving data. Wanted to replace on old access point with this kit and see what it can do.Where my WNR3500 (2.4 GHZ, n) (very happy with it) gives me a rough 70-80% signal strength from EXACT the same location in my office. This product gave me 20-30% and dropped throughput to 13mps (with all the jitters). I tinkered with settings and positioning for a few hours and gave up. The access point I wanted to replace is running at 54mps (WGPS606, print server and access point) at the moment. My machine next to it has a WN311B in one of the PCI slots and runs at a constant of 85mps or better (70% signal too)! Will simply get another WN311B PCI adapter for that machine or some 2.4GHZ n-draft bridge. Conclusion: Not worth the hassle of running a second frequency network. Shipping it back.

My brother bought this thinking that it would be a good replacement for a 7 year old linksys. Junk, utter junk. We attempted to connect via the thing and it just wouldnt recognize the internet from the modem or something. So we thought it was just because he was using XP, so I swapped it over to win7 to setup. Couldnt even see that I was connected to the thing, moments later, dead. It just died, before we even got it hooked up to the internet, brand new straight from the store. It doesnt turn on or anything no lights whatsoever, plastic garbage dead. Were going to return it for a linksys later.

I had hoped to receive the latest version of the device - after having researched the product website but version 1 shipped. The firmware was outdated as well, it was still running version 1.1.00.32 instead of the newer May 2010 version 1.1.00.41. The device is made in China and more expensive than others which may explain its seemingly long shelf life.

Works fine with Qwest DSL in Denver area. After getting a new laptop with Wireless N I wanted a new router to support it, and didn't want to deal with 2 routers on the network. At first I wasn't very happy with this modem as it was kind of buggy, I was about to return it for being so buggy when they came out with a new firmware. But their most recent firmware seems to have fixed almost all my issues with it, as well as adding a QoS function which if works will be great for my VOIP. I do hope they also add a true port forward feature.Setup was a snap, I did not use the CD, since I'm very comfortable using Web interfaces for most devices, just a quick glance at the manual to get the default NAT IP, and user/password and I was in. The built in web based setup wizard easily detected the Qwest DSL, and I was online in just a few minutes. The modem does seem to run a little warm, but nothing like my old Cisco's, and those lasted years. I also only have one LAN port in use, which feeds a gigabit switch. I would imagine the more ports you use the hotter it will run. The Wifi works fine with my Acer laptop, I can connect at 270m if I am in WPA2 mode, but to get my PSP online I have to used mixed mode WPA & WPA2 which seem to only support 150M speed over Wifi-N.Right now as mentioned the only thing really lacking for me is a good port forwarding feature. If they add that I will give this a 5. Right now it's a good solid 4. I'll edit this review if my feeling change.

This product worked great for the first 6 - 7 months. However, it always ran really hot (visibly noticeable after 6 months due to a white sticker on the top of the unit turning brown around its edges) and eventually burned up the components. The first indication of the unit going bad was the wireless connection slowed from 6.1 mb/sec download to 101 kb/sec download speeds (it was not a problem with the ISP, lack of obtaining an IP Address, or any setup/connectivity issues). After a couple of days one of the router ports did the same thing (slowed to identical speeds mentioned above for the wireless access point). I now have a modem with a defective wireless access point, 1 of 4 router ports that have gone bad, and I am waiting for more problems to start occurring. To top it off, I had to call their "support" 6 times after being "dropped" and hung up on (before even talking to that person mind you - I was even tempered and did not cause the hang up). I also used their email "support" 4 times. There was a host of problems with the support I "received" and I have now vowed never to buy Netgear products at all from this point forward. It was one of the worst support experiences I have ever received. In addition, I have to send the unit back (without prepaid shipping) and have to wait 5 - 10 days to get the unit back. Therefore, if I want to use my internet service over that time, I have to purchase a different modem - I guarantee you that it will not be a Netgear product.

I was unable to easily wire this room for Ethernet and I did not want to fill the airwaves with wireless devices. This was a great solution as the Wifi option for the XBox360 was the exact same price.Set up was as simple as it gets and I was up and running and have not had any problems what so ever. My existing Wifi system is Belkin there were no interoperability issues.

Ok so I want to setup a wireless bridge. I have about 200 feet from one building to another. I used my home made "Cantenna", and an old laptop as a gateway using xp and setup a bridge manually with fixed ips, worked great. However the ISP changed the modem/AP to a newer box, that does not support 802.11b which is what my Cantenna uses(yea it is a little old). So I figured why not jump to N while I am redoing everything. I purchased the whole kit Netgear WNHDEB111-100NAS with 2 APs. Hooked them up and they took a very long time to connect. I ended up using the switches on the back to set the unit by the ISP Modem to "AP" and the remote one to "bridge". Connection established now, but for only about 5 minutes at a time then drop!I decided to move the bridge outside the building, a little better, but still not a solid connection. About 3 days (countless hours) later, I have the "AP" unit on the top of the shelf above the ISP's modem and the "Bridge" bungee corded to a tree about 100 feet from it, and a 100+ foot cat5 cable run into the second building! Get this: I can sit under the tree with my laptop and connect easily to the ISP's modem/AP no drops at all, but the "bridge" continually drops about every 10 minutes, and sometimes it stays down for several minutes. No idea why! There is no way to see the signal strength or anything so it is like flying in the dark.I am still messing with them so I may get it working. Currently my suggestion is to save your money/time and build a cantenna using a usb 802.11g adapter and use an old laptop for the bridge, if you have a similar situation to mine. I think that is what I will do in a few days when I am totally frustrated with these two units.

I originally bought one of these to use as a wireless bridge. Wanted to hook up my new Samsung DVD so I could stream Netflix. I have a D-Link N router and work with netwoking equipment for a living, so I thought setting this up would be easy. Connected it to my router with a cat-6 cable and configured it, then moved it to the desired location. No connectivity. Moved it back to the router and turned off the antenna in the router and the WNHDE111 worked great as an access point. Moved it back to the desired location and again no connectivity. I read the install instructions from Netgear and everything was configured properly. Then I read reviews on Amazon and found out YOU MUST HAVE TWO OF THESE TO MAKE A WIRELESS BRIDGE. I wish Netgear had made this clear. After buying a second WNHDE111, I had connectivity and everything was fine, except I spent twice as much as I intended. I should have bought the D-Link DAP1522 or the Buffalo WLI-TX4-AG300N. These are more expensive but superior products, especially if you already have an N wireless router. The Netgear WNHDE111 works great if you have a non-N router or want to add wireless without upgrading the router. But these are N only; no G connectivity. If you want a cheap wireless G bridge solution, get the Netgear WGPS606, but don't try to stream video over G; it is too slow. REMEMBER, TO MAKE A WIRELESS BRIDGE WITH THIS PRODUCT, YOU MUST BUY 2!!!!!!!!!!!

bought this wireless receiver at a local radio shack for about 40 bucks because i don't have a phone line in my room and i needed internet after i relocated my computer from the office to my room. It constantly drops internet, at least 4 or 5 times a day as bad as every 5 minutes sometimes. I cannot find patterns to solve the problem. I contacted customer service. That was even worse than the product. The only advice I got was that I needed to install the software over again the exact same way as the first time. That was after the person floundered for half an hour when I was trying to explain to him that YES, I do get internet with it. But NO, it is not steady and cuts out constantly. took that long all the while he kept telling me if i can't get any internet service it means i must have some sort of interference which i don't because its just through one wall 10 feet away and then he resorted to telling me to start over and sorry that's all we can do, can we help you with anything else today. Pathetic. Please don't buy this product. I wish i had just installed a phone line for less money and hooked up reliable corded internet.

Bought this router to replace an older Linksys Wireless B, and it's working great. I am only running 2 wireless computers and 1 wired xbox through it, but it has held a strong signal all through the house, obviously much faster than the Wireless B signal. The only issues I am currently have not been narrowed down to the router as the culprit: the xbox and Windows Media Center cannot communicate for some unknown reason. Also, with the signal password protected, my roommate's computer could not connect, while mine could. He is using an older tower with an aftermarket wireless card, though, which could be the cause. With MAC restrictions, both of our computers access the internet fine. This item also came not in its original packaging and void of any software or instructions, but it did appear to be in new condition. Without any installation instructions, I was able to set up the router fairly quickly.I would recommend this router.

I mean, really. Dancing lights. I guess they designed this router with the 'I really want to impress my geeky friends' guy in mind. If only it played 'We Will Rock You' when you connected something on the N-band...Oh, well...Hey, this router had almost zero documentation with it, other than a disk that works with Windows and not Mac OS X, and I got it running super easily with a Macbook Pro. Fortunately I connected without adjusting the router at all, which was made much easier by the graphic 1, 2, 3 numbers indicating the order you are to plug in the WAN, the primary LAN and the power. The back also had a rather prominent button on the back which you can use to switch off the rather annoying light display which corresponds to the anttena activity. Yes, it would have been better synched to your iPod pumping out 'We Will Rock You' or other miscellaneous rock anthems as you might choose, but alas, that is not an option. The big button clearly indicates the engineers of this product realized that the lights they were installing could be considered annoying. Makes you think, huh? Should I be embarassed that I left the lights on?Anyway, since I connected [to the www] immediately with no setup, I was able to connect to the internet to find the default IP of the router, and then access the web console. This router can be set to automatically check for firmware updates, which I find useful, as the latest firmware is generally necessary in devices which use N band wireless because of its 'developmental' nature.Well, the console allowed some great control over the wireless, which had some serious encryption beyond WEP with both versions of WPA (PSK+TKIP) simultaneously in use. This was really appreciated.Range was not fantastic, even with the eight wireless-N antennnas. It was nearly as good as my previous wireless-G, but I was still a little disappointed. The much faster connection, however, won me over.Overall, a great product.Highly recommended.

Could connect to ISP, local machines could ping router, could connect to router remote admin from external network, but could not connect to public internet from any local machines. This was with the latest firmware and default factory settings. Just plain faulty. The quality of support matches the bottom end quality of the product. Strong recommendation to avoid. If you get one that works you might be ok, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Works fine. Setup using the CD on Windows 7 was easy. The crazy lights would go well with a gaming desktop, especially at night. All in all, it's much better than having a separate modem and not as buggy as some Lynksis models.Update. My initial enthusiasm about the unit has faded, the N wireless drops connections after 10 minutes, every time. I suspect the g band interferes. At ny rate, it's useless. Now the g range has to be reset once every two days. Wireless range is limited, no better than the 2wire unit sold by AT&T.I am switching to a non-dual band modem router.

Ok, I needed to find a product that would allow me to get an improvement over my existing wireless G connection with my XBOX 360. I'm running a Wireless N router but currently connecting with a wireless G XBOX 360 adapter. It currently connects at about 50% 100ft and two rooms away from my DLink-655 Wireless N router. It slows down quite a bit when streaming video so I wanted a solution that took advantage of Draft N wireless. Supposedly the 5GHz Netgear AP and Bridge are supposed to provide faster speed with better range that is less susceptible to interference.Real world results were not very good. The AP and Bridge connected quickly and the XBOX 360 saw the ethernet connection no problem. For a while everything was working well. 30 minutes later I was getting erradic behavior. Shortly after that it disconnected all together. I've since spent two days trying to get them to work reliably. Network perfomance tests reveal anywhere from full signal to no signal at all and it consistently fluctuates. Both units have the updated firmware and I tried manually setting the mode switch instead of using the auto settings. Nothing has worked.Netgear tech support was a disaster. I got right through but when speaking to them all you can hear is the sound of other tech people in the background. The first time he called I could barely hear the guy over all the background noise. He told me that I had a bad connection and should call back. The second time I called I got the same background noise but the guy attempted to help me with my issue. It was obvious right away that he didn't have any idea what he was talking about. He asked me about my wireless setup and then proceded to tell me that my wireless G laptop would not connect to the Access Point. I still don't know what he's talking about. My laptop is wireless N 2.4GHz through my DLink router and had nothing to do with my Netgear problem. He then put me on hold for several minutes came back and told me to put both switches on both units to bridges mode. What is he talking about? The Access point is supposed to be in AP mode and only the bridge should be in Bridge mode! He then puts me on hold again and he asks the distance between units. He says that my distance is too far and he can no longer help me. I tried to explain that I am currently getting a better connection and speed with my wireless G equipment so the 5GHz Wireless N setup should get better than that with the same distance. "Sorry Sir that's all I can do for you." CLICK..............WTF??Needless to say I'm returning these. Maybe at closer distances they will work well but that kind of defeats the point! The whole purpose of wireless N is added range and speed. For people with short runs this product will probably work fine but for me I don't think it lives up to the hype!

I bought this WiFi router because is takes the open source DD-WRT based on Linux, and Netgear is supporting it with its site [...]., I have been using DD-WRT for quite some times, so I am very familiar with it. When I saw the Netgear firmware GUI, I did not like at all, I am not saying is bad, I just did not like it. Also having plenty on RAM(64MB), fast CPu, and 8MB of flash RAM to load the mega DD-WRT firmware and others like Tomato.I am not sure how many people out there are using port forwarding, I am using about 20 already. I have a dlink DIR655, this router allows 24 ports only, basically I was reaching the limits, on top of that does not take DD-WRT. So DD-WRT allows unlimited number of port forwarding.I am giving it four stars due to the fact that I stumbled trying to figure out why was not taking the DD-WRT firmware with the bin extension.PROS:Open source routerPlenty of RAMFast CPU802.11n4 gigabit ethernet portsCONS:Cheap plastic case

read review all over and thought that it was good product. I purchased and in seconds was up and running. Was so glad that the setup was a breeze. I am a person who downloads a lot of stuff and somehow felt that the download was slow. I have a 20mbps connection - I checked the speed when connected wirelessly. I was surprised it was 9 mbps. I connected with a wire - speed was 20mbps. Ok so i checked my wireless card with another wireless router works perfect. Called customer service - Very polite people on the other end. They created a case and helped out but were not able to solve it, kept blaming my wireless card. I went and got a new wireless card - netgear. Still the same issues continued. Called them up. they created another case number - made me do the same steps as was done during the first case number. ever since that I am calling every work and creating case numbers but neither the customer support knows what to do - they always end up saying a senior technician will call but dont fall for that trap - no one is going to call you.My advise stay away from this product and to be on the safe side stay away from Netgear as such - their customer service sucks but one thing good about the customer service is that they speak politely even if they dont know anything.

My reason for purchasing this product was to provide connectivity with our wireless network for our Direct TV receiver. I had looked at several products but only a few (including this one) advertised that they would work with a Macintosh computer network. The installation instructions consist of a single sheet of paper printed on two sides. I consider myself fairly computer literate but after following the directions I wasn't able to get the two units properly communicating with each other. A call to tech support was able to remedy this and now the system works perfectly for my needs. What I don't understand is why the company won't spend a few extra dollars to provide clear and concise installation instructions which would allow them to reduce the tech support payroll. Oh well.

If you are thinking about buying this unit as a way to connect your blu-ray player or xbox 360 to your wireless network, look elsewhere... the pictures on the back of the box make it appear that if you have a Netgear dual-band router, you only need one of these... read the fine print... you need two of them for the unit to function in a bridge mode.. Do yourself a favor and buy the linksys gaming adapter without further consideration of this product.. it costs just as much as two of these, but at least they're upfront about it and dont utilize, in my opinion, deceptive marketing schemes to get you to buy their product. I will never buy another netgear product again...you shouldn't either.

First and foremost, this device is not a replacement for a cheap router/NAT device. We use this in our SMB setting because it allows multiple SSIDs to be used, access to be controlled via RADIUS and allows for wireless client separation. Essentially, you connect this device to your router and your existing DHCP server will provide the addressing. You can have multiple security profiles so it is possible to have a network for employees and one for guests on the same access point. One other feature that we really like is that it can send access information to a syslog server. This is great for seeing when people connect to your network, how long they were connected, etc. This is a great little device and it plays well with existing hardware.

Purchased from another place refurbished. Newegg has this refurbished, and had a one-day special "BOGO Free". I was looking for a network bridge product because I was moving my office space into the basement, where I did not have any hard-wire network connections. My choices were to rip open the finished basement ceiling to find a good spot to put a drop, or purchase wireless-G adapters for the two computers, or use a wireless network bridge. I was about to purchase the wireless adapters when I found the special sale on this bridge (2 units).Got the units yesterday, installed in 5 minutes. Basically, set one unit to AP, attached that to my existing G router. Set up the second unit as the Bridge in the basement office. Went upstairs and pressed the WPS button on the AP unit, and ran back down to press the WPS button on the bridge. Two minutes later, plugged in ethernet cables to my two computers in the basement, turned them on and was up and running. Couldn't be simpler. Forgot to mention that one basement computer was a linux server, which was on an older computer with USB 1 connections. That would have severely limited my wireless connection, but now I have a full 100 network connection through the Bridge unit. This is a very good product for what I needed, to make the wireless connection from my old office to the basement without any drilling. I do not plan to switch anything else to wireless N because I have too much older equipment running fine on b/g.I may decide to use the Netgear software to try tweaking the network settings on the units. I saw some interesting comments on the Netgear forums.

My old Gateway 2wire broke last Friday after the 2 year warranty expired. I called ATT tech support which took forever only to find out that the reason the failure was with the power supply.I needed a modem and router that night so I went up and picked up one from a place called _RY's(just add the 6th letter of alphabet to fill in the blank) to test it out Took some time to find the old email address and password and finally signed on using the enclosed CD. After about 30 minutes I was online again. It worked for me all weekend like a charm. Hit the middle button on it to turn off the cool LED lights thoughI decided to try buying one from Amazon and low and behold it was cheaper and I decided to saved some serious cash. I saved 13.5 percent!. I saved 8.75 percent only by not paying California Sales tax.The modem and router arrived today. I installed the Router/modem from Amazon and returned the other one to the store for a full refund. I saved some money shopping from Amazon and the next person buying my store bought version will save some money too as the store version is going back on the refurbished shelf. So far so good. The laptops, desktops, and gaming consoles work really well.I hope

bought this with my new hp dv6-2150 laptop from staples. set up was unbelievably easy. up and running in under a minute. have lost connection with the laptop a few times and windows 7 says the router is the issue. wired side seems to run witout a single hic-up. wife got her laptop today. will see if it is my laptop or the router. when i called staples a couple of days later the other tech guy said it is just netgear. bring it back and get a linksys. still got a week till i cannot return it so i will see what happens.

While it seemed to work well at first, the router persistently gets into a state where it won't give out DHCP addresses. Any devices I have that use static addresses seem to work fine and it maintains its wireless network and WAN connection, but anything that gets its address via DHCP is off the network. This can happen any time from a few hours to a few days after it's been powered up. Every time this happens I have to reset the router to get it to work again for my DHCP devices. And yes, I have the latest firmware for this router (as of January 23, 2010).I'd return the router whence it came, but I ignored my own good habits and threw the box away right after I bought it. It's now sitting on my basement shelf waiting for salvation, but at this point I'm not too confident about it. A little Google work will find similar complaints by other users, and this has been going on for a while.

I purchased this from Amazon and less than 10 minutes after I opened it I had a 2 port ethernet bridge up and running. I was able to easily connect to my NetGear WNDR3300 dual band wireless router using the PIN method of WPS setup. I now have ethernet to 2 devices that need it. Bought it primarily because it had 2 ethernet ports and was very cost effective compared to other wireless ethernet bridges.I have not had range problems because it is not all that far from router so can't judge that aspect.BE SURE that you have a dual band router if you want to use this as a bridge. Looks like people get confused about it being 5ghz only.

I purchased the Netgear WNR3500 router to replace a Netgear WGR614 (802.11g) router that had been in service since 2004. I was hoping to increase wireless range, and wired and wireless speed. The new router finally installed, after several false starts, on the Windows XP access point computer. However, when I tried using the Push 'N' Connect feature to hook up with my new Netgear WN111 adapter it didn't work. I see the PNC feature as not being quite ready for prime time. I got things working by going to [...] at the access point computer and manually changing the WPA2 pass-phrase to one I could remember and then assigning that "new" pass-phrase to the adapter at the Windows 7 wireless computer. The signal strength at the wireless computer is unchanged from the 802.11g configuration -- so much for "Range-Max." And, after running wired and wireless speed tests I couldn't see any improvement -- so much for "Gigabits." All things considered, the "upgrade" from 802.11g to 802.11n is a waste of both time and money. "Better is the enemy of good."

Everything about this product is good.I have used other brands but these Netgear units have the range and never drop the connection. I have units at several locations including a wireless IP Camera that is over 120 ft from the router.Yes the frame rate on the Camera is a bit slow because the camera is 54mb/B but it's a long haul without a relay unit, but meets my needs. On the other hand my wife's wireless setup from her desktop has jumped from 120mbto 300mb speeds just going from an older N router. Of course the reason for the switch was for the direct connections now even faster.Good products and easy to manage. Great flexibility for all types of connections including VOIP (skype wireless) In this area of VOIP it is probably the best choice over other multiband brands.

Greate product. Works as advertised and very easy to install. Wireless works greate, though, it is a little harder to get the N band to work, but, if your device does pickup the signal, its fast and greate.

Bought this router with the expectation from the write up and product description that it was a combination DSL Router/Modem AND Wireless N Router. As it turned out, it is ONLY the Wireless Router. It will interface with your DSL MODEM on one of the NIC ports but this box is definitely NOT a DSL modem. It works pretty well though. The "N" speeds are nice compared to B/G.Have yet to configure content filtering (which is the main reason I bought it) but looks pretty straight forward.
