I like this set. I did take me two tries at a wireless card for my notebook to figure out that it only uses the 5 Ghz band for wireless connections. I manually set the mode of each box on the back of each unit and they have been working great.Things to note:-- This package contains two identical units that operate as an access point and a bridge. One needs to be connect to your router. The other can be put anywhere in your house that you need internet access. Just plug it into an outlet ant then plug an Ethernet cable into it and connect it to your wired device. There are two wired ports on the back of each unit.-- To connect to these access points with a wireless device, that device must have a wireless N with the 5Ghz band. A wireless card with just wireless N 2.4 Ghz will not connect. I bought a RangeMax WNDA3100 Dual Band Wireless-N Router USB connector and it works great with my laptop. I connect at speeds from 220 to 300 kps. Things are a lot snappier then they were with wireless g. I can now watch videos. With wireless g they stopped and started.-- It seems to make things go a lot easier if you use the switch on the back and set the unit that connects to your router to access point and the other one to bridge. Using the auto setting can cause problems.-- There is a switch on the back that lets you turn off the lights on the unit. This is very cool for placing it in a bedroom where you don't want to see the light in the middle of the night. The unit does not make any noise.-- The web interface to set the options is easy to use and pretty straight forward.-- This is a very easy way to get internet access into a room where you can't feasibly run a wire but still want a decent speed.

I should have known not to leave Linksys with their superior support. Do not buy Netgear. Their support is horrible. They will not answer what day it is without trying to force you to buy "support" for $100. I was just trying to find out something about updating their firmware which should have been on both their internet site and their instruction manual but was not. Stay way from Netgear products. Companies with this view of customer support should go out of business.

I bought mine after suddenly needing my desktop to be wireless instead of wired after a move. Thinking getting this Netgear product for under $10 (from another site) would solve my issues well enough was a huge mistake, giant headache, and general waste of time. After installing in Windows XP, the adaptor will work for about 2 hours, decide to shut it self down, and cease to work with my computer unless I re-install the drivers. While it does manage to work I get download speeds of about 20kbps whereas everyone's laptop on the same router easily gets 150kbps. For a wireless-g product this is absolutely unacceptable.Considering I only paid $10 for my headache I can't imagine paying $50-90 as listed here. Do yourself a favor and get a PCI based wireless card instead. They're cheaper even.

I bought this router three weeks ago. Worked flawlessly. I had a PS3, Wii, three laptops, and one desktop connected. All of the sudden it would drop connections 5-6 times at least an hour. I thought it was my internet connection but I swapped out the Netgear for an older router and no more dropped connections. So sadly I'm returning it today. I don't know what to do buy anymore.

I just had a desktop PC and a laptop from work until the holidays when we bought a new laptop and a Blu-ray player with BD-Live.I was researching routers with high bandwith (Gigabit) and the latest wireless technology (Wireless-N).I researched D-link and Netgear but found the Netgear WNR3500 better in terms of performance, product quality and price (under $100).Now, I have my desktop, wife's laptop, my laptop and the blu-ray player all connected to the WNR3500 and they all work fine. I have a high-speed DSL line for internet access.I am using it for about two months now without a single issue. The set-up was a breeze too.I would recommend the WNR3500 to anyone looking for a decently priced Gigibit Wireless-N router.

Three words for this one --> DO NOT BUY.This product has well known issues with holding a connection between the bridge and access point. Netgear has known about the issues since it was released and they are not fixing it. If you spend some time in their support forums, you'll find ample information and reviews. On the surface, these seem great -- and they would be, if you didn't have to cycle the power on one or both 1-5 times each day. Connections drop during games, data transfer for network services (such as DirecTV) have issues and full motion video does not work well at all.Long made short -- this is one of the worst network equipment purchases I have ever made and I've made many. Avoid this one.

I'm sure this is a great product when used in a Dual Band setup, however I have not upgraded my router yet and expected it to be backwards compatible with the 2.4GHz existing setup. The device info is misleading with the 2.4G/5G statistics. If you look closely, this bridge only supports 5GHz. I returned this device for a dual band model.

have been using it (Netgear 802.11N router/DSL modem) for about a month now and it's been GREAT. for those out there that are not exactly the "IT friendly" people, it's EXTREAMLY easy to setup, basicly if you know your dsl logon name and password this modem will do the rest with it's walk through software. Wireless works great, but i use more hardwire for everything I have. This was for sure exactly what i was looking for in a mode/router. (only thing i cannot review on is the use of the 802.11N speeds, as i only connected at 802.11G, but works great on G!)

This router wasted hours of my time. I use a MacBook Pro (purchased 2/08) as my primary machine. The WEP encryption (64 and 128 bit) is not compatible between this router and the MacBook Pro (the level 1 support at Apple were not aware of this issue). After switching to WPA-PSK was able to connect but at about 1/2 the speed of my previous router, connection was unstable and not usable. The reason I purchased was to increase speed/range with the MacBooks "N" capability- this device had the opposite result and was a huge time waster. Worked fine with my other wireless/wired devices (about 10 of them) but offered no advantages over my ~5 year old Netgear WPN 824 router that now sells for ~$40.

I have been struggling with wireless networking for two and a half years. The home we moved into would have cost a bundle to run CAT5 cable everywhere we needed it. I tried four or five different wireless router/adapter systems, and none of them worked reliably.I picked up a WNHDEB111 kit based on a review I read. It was the simplest wireless system I've ever used. Setup was brain-dead simple. Once I had it connected, I took the bridge unit and a laptop to every room in the house. I got a strong, fast connection everywhere. Even in the basement, where I have never been able to get a connection at all.I now have eight units around the house. Each unit is connected to a network switch, and connected to those are 12 computers, four TiVos, and a couple of network printers. And it's a huge benefit to be able to plug standard network switches into the units, and not have to put wireless adapters on all the computers. After I had installed four of the units, I started experiencing connection drops and very poor performance. I did some web searches, and based on some recommendations I found, I turned off the WISH feature on all the units. Bingo... I was back to full speed and rock solid connections everywhere in the house.I also don't believe in letting boxes make their own decisions about things. So where there's a choice, I select the best option so the box doesn't have to think about it.So in the 'Wireless Settings' section of the configuration, I set:- 802.11 Mode to '802.11n only'- WPA Mode to 'WPA2 only'- Cipher Type to 'AES'This is a fantastic product. I recommend it to anyone who needs wireless access.

I got one of the early versions of this Router/access point/switch/firewall/print server. That is a lot of function for the money. It has NEVER given me problems. Mine has been on the entire 4+ years. I can remember rebooting it once in that time. Also, it has great range. However, this is an office product not a home product, so you should know a little about firewalls, routing, DHCP, IP, etc., or you should be ready to spend a few hours educating yourself. So, this is a very versatile device.I used support when I first set it up and they did a good job for me.There is a very good reason why this is one of the oldest product still in production by Netgear.

I bought this product when I was updating my home network after my previous router died. I had also been wanting to upgrade to 802.11n . The wired router functionality has worked great. The wireless routing, however, started failing on at least a daily basis within a week of installing the unit. It basically just quits routing wireless traffic. Nothing but a hard power cycle will bring it back, and then only for a matter of hours. I could have sent it back to Netgear since it was still under warranty, but I had no replacement router. I decided I didn't want that many network eggs in one basket anyway, so I turned off its wireless antenna and bought a separate (Time Capsule) unit to serve as my wireless access point. In this role, this Netgear unit has been flawless.

I am extremely happy with this device. I was able to replace my DSL modem and my G Wireless Router with one device and upgrade to N wireless. The dumb part is that the vertical stand clips that are somewhat universal on a lot of Netgear products are not included with this unit, even though they will fit. I want to stand mine vertically and I e-mailed Netgear and they told me that they can not send them to me since they are not supossed to come with the unit AND they will not sell them to me. They are PLASTIC CLIPS. You can not get them anywhere else since they are made specifically for the Netgear device chassis. There is no other graceful way to have this unit stand on it's end as the edges are rounded.Sad.

The random and incurable blue screen problems with this card are legendary. A quick Google search of "wpn311" and "blue screen" will give any prospective buyer all the information he/she needs to look elsewhere. Whatever the ultimate cause, this card does not seem capable of working with Windows XP.Two years ago, I made the mistake of installing these cards in my office desktops. About 1000 blue screens later, I finally gave up and replaced them. I've tried every software update, every firmware fix, and spent days with customer support to no avail. One thing that might be helpful to those struggling with this card is that the Windows software seems to work better than the Netgear abomination. (including the latest update 2.0) My recommendation however would be to abandon this network card all together and get something else.

As others have mentioned, the signal strength from this wireless access point (WAP) is pretty good, and there does seem to be improved coverage compared to my older Netgear wireless router (I moved to a new house that was prewired for data, so I have a wired router in my basement and needed the wireless access point so I could walk around with my notebook computer and connect to the internet). My main criticism of this product is the confusing setup and inadequate instructions. Let me explain (hopefully I can save someone else the pain I went through)...To set up this wireless access point, you connect this router via an ethernet cable to a computer (notebook or desktop, Mac or PC -- it doesn't matter). You manually set your computer to a static IP address (the manual gives you the specific IP address). Then, you turn on the WAP and connect to it using a web browser via the default IP address for the WAP (192.168.0.231). So far, so good. Then you configure the basic settings, and this is where the manual is inadequate. Many people will use this WAP as I have -- a DSL or cable internet connection and a wired router. In the basic settings, you will have to set the WAP IP address using DHCP. After applying the settings, you can't connect to the WAP using the default IP address of 192.168.0.231 anymore because a different IP address was assigned via DHCP. (You will get a screen saying that the connection timed out.) So, how did you connect back to the WAP?I unplugged the ethernet cable from the WAP to the computer and instead connected the WAP to my wired router. Then I accessed my wired router and looked for a list of connected devices. The WAP was on that list along with the IP address now assigned to the WAP. I connected to the WAP wirelessly, typed in the new IP address for the WAP, and now I could access the rest of the settings (such as wireless security settings). What a hassle!! It really would have been nice if Netgear had better documentation for this process. I would have saved me quite a bit of frustration.Anyway, once set up, the WAP works great. But, getting it set up took some doing.

Now that I am connected to the internet I haven't experienced any problems and would definitely buy Netgear again should the need arise for an additional bridge.

I consider myself an expert computer user, having built 15 PCs and having performed countless upgrades to others. I recently moved into a large apartment, with dense walls that prevented connection to my "G" router in some rooms. I bought this "N" router figuring that I wouldn't get much improved "G" signal strength, and that I would end up buying "N" adapters for my devices. I was more than pleasantly surprised then to discover that signal strength was DRAMATICALLY improved while still using my "G" adapters. I can't speak to ease of setup as I didn't use the installation wizard, opting instead to adjust all the settings the old-fashioned way. But it works beautifully. It has all sorts of prioritization settings for video, voice chat, and online gaming. It has all the current security standards and allows for some advanced tweaking for that. Also, as others have noted, Netgear mercifully provided a switch to shut off their silly top-edge light show (it looks cool, but could be a distraction depending on where you put this thing).Update: I've now been using this thing for a month and have had no problems. None of the dropped signals, etc. that some other reviewers claim. I'm using this wirelessly with two desktop PCs, a laptop PC, a Tivo HD, a Tivo gen 2, and an xbox 360. This router sounded like it should do everything I wanted. High speed, provides QOS, many antennas should give good range, etc.Unfortunately it fails to deliver. Not that the features aren't there, they are, but it appears to be plagued with several issues:- The primary issue is that the wireless connection drops frequently. So far, about 5 times an hour. Changing networks, security settings, checking for latest firmware (something it does automatically) have not fixed this.- The DNS Proxy in it stops responding. This means you type an address and get nowhere. A power cycle is needed to fix that.- Internet performance is intermittent. The router appears to slowly slow down your connection. I believe that the QOS cannot cope with running services like BitTorrent. Gradually the router slows down.I would not recommend buying this. In fact I am considering returning it as it is unable to actually operate in a stable manner. Let's see what Netgear support does in the next 24h.

This Netgear product does exactly what it is supposed to do, in a fairly uncomplicated way. I have set up hundreds of routers, switches, hubs, and wireless routers over the years. This one has just enough features to do the job, and be simple to set up.When first connecting, it prompts you to check for new firmware, which is easily downloaded and installed. You have a switch on the back to select which type of device it is to be, in my case I needed a wireless Access Point. I plugged in a network cable from a nearby 4 port hub, which was plugged into a distant 8 port switch. I connected first though a network cable to set the security settings. The customer's laptop, running Vista Ultimate, located the device, connected, prompted for security log-on, and that was it. My customer had a reliable connection, and could access the office network with her laptop anywhere throughout a 5000sf office (various walls, hallways, and rooms) We were using the 'N' band, WPA2 security with AES encryption. The signal was strong, and had no interference problems, even though we were in the middle of a large group of small independent offices.

I use this router to serve up a wireless connection via a serial modem. Unless you need to connect to the Internet through a serial modem or need a modem as a backup connection you can save money with a cheaper router. The dial-on-demand feature works well and I've only had to reboot this router a couple of times. I get a strong signal and the router itself is in what feels like a sturdy metal case.If you are among the 5 of us out there still using dial-up and are tired of being tied to a phone cord I recommend this router. Be sure to visit the manufacturers web site to see what serial modems are supported. Mine wasn't on the list and it still worked but I may have gotten lucky.

The Netgear WG111T was easy to set up and provided 54 Mbps connectivity, using a Verizon FIOS Router. I would recommend this device for a quick and easy installation wireless device.

I have had this router now for about 2 years. The Netgear has good setup utility. I like that you can not only have network security, but also specify which computers are allowed to connect to the wireless. The ethernet ports died after about a year. No big deal for me, I went all wireless and it has served fine. One oddity I learned. This unit runs hot. Turning it on it's end instead of leaving it in the intended horizonal position allows it to vent better. Since did this it has been rock solid. Perhaps the ethernet ports would still be with me if I had picked up on this earlier. For just under $100, this is a decent product. I highly recommend it - just turn it on it's side to let it breathe :)

I owned a older Netgear Router that started to drop my internet connections. So I started researching for a new Wireless-N Router. After searching over product reviews and pricing. I wanted to make sure I buy a router that was future proof, well as least for awhile. So I choose this router because it was Wireless-N and Gigabit Router all rolled into one. I recently purchase a new HP that is also wireless. It was easy to connect and setup my wireless network for my printer. I have both hardwire and wireless devices on the router. I also love the auto update feature that is built into the router when you login into it. I recommend this product due to reliablity, easy setup with both hardware and wireless networks and pricing. Italia247 out.
