I was looking for a new Kodak camera; after much research I thought this was what I was looking for. I love that the LCD is larger and that it has 8.2MP. Though I purchased this in June; I haven't had time to learn how to use the features, I've only taken aim and shot pictures. I am somewhat disappointed that there seems to be a delay when taking the picture and that my initial object has moved - thus creating a blurred picture.

After a lot of research, I decided to buy this camera. It is the best decision ever. This is my first digital camera and I couldn't ask for anything more from it. It takes awesome pictures and records great videos. It is easy to use and easy to transfer the pictures from the camera to your computer. My favorite part is the rechargeable battery. I plug it up to recharge when ever I think about it and my low battery light has yet to come on. I have had it for about a month. We have to buy my husband one now because he is trying to steal mine.

Small camera I bought and took on a vacation to Las Vegas and Route 66 in Arizona. I carried it in a carrier hooked to my belt. I took over 400 pictures and only 2 were discarded. (I didn't wait for the camera to focus) Very quick to turn on, and at 10 mp and a 2 gig card I had plenty of room on the card. Very sharp pictures. Very good pic under low light, like in casino shopping malls and at dusk. Didn't try the video part.
Charged the camera at night, no problem with battery when using the camera all day.

I debated between the Canon SX100 and the Kodak Z812 for some time and finally decided on the Kodak because it has HD movie capability and I don't plan to upgrade for awhile and it was less expensive. I'm glad I chose it. The pictures have been fantastic and I have taken movies of my daughter swimming and they were outstanding! It looked like I was in the next lane when I was really 15 rows back in the stands and she was in the farthest lane of the pool -plus you can optically zoom when in movie mode, which most cameras can not do. With the software, I was able to splice the clips together and add music. The quality was exceptional and you just can't beat it for the price. Also, we could get stills of the video at the best parts. A lot of websites seem to take pleasure in slamming Kodak without even trying out the z812 and they are simply wrong. If you are looking for more than the standard 3X zoom and great quality, look no further.

Overall I really like this camera. I am not a pro Photographer or any thing, but I will tell you what I see. The picture quality is great for a pocket camera. Not like my D80, but you can't compare the two. There are only three things that really bother me about the camera.

1. The LCD screen is hard to see through when you are outside. I think that it is because it's a touch screen.
2. The battery and memory card Door. When you are holding the camera the door would slide open. The door does not lock in place, it just kinda slides in place.
3. The battery only lasted for about 30 pics at 12mp and with 4 15-20 second videos. Maybe the battery wasn't charged all the way!

I got this camera a few moths ago and loved it. Then BAM it takes like 20 pictures to one lithium battery. That's freaking expensive. I sent it in for repair under warranty (which was incredibly inconveinant, since it left me without a camera with my 6 month old). They sent it back saying that it's "repaired" and now it takes a whopping 40 pictures per battery (to top it off the guy at the repair number was a jerk). It's awful, and I wouldn't buy another Kodak after this.

Wow, this is a lot of camera for the money. A true value. Many advanced features, yet all are easy to master. Exceptional photographs. The camera has a quality "feel" about it, as you might expect of Kodak Company. The camera has more style than the rest, and the compact design was a surprise. So it is easy to carry to sports events, family gatherings, kids outings, whatever. Bottom line: It will be hard to beat this camera. Purchase with confidence.

This looked to be a good product in the reviews. The camera worked for about a week and then it appears the unit does not stay on and could not get the zoom to return. I saw another review posted a few days after I made the purchase here with the same problem.

This is my third Kodak Easy Share camera, the first I was very very happy with until I goofed and it drowned. The second one I still have and am quite pleased with but after going to a dog show and trying to take pictures of the dogs in the ring I realized I was in serious need of more zoom capabilities. I love the ease of use of the Easy Share line and the numerous presets in scene mode, these are what I use most. This camera takes crisp clear pics even through the windshield of a moving car and in my backyard clear crisp pictures of my poodles in sport mode. If you need more zoom power and want ease of use I highly recommend this camera, it is a bargain. This is my first camera with image stabilization and I am getting fewer fuzzy shots. Another plus for me was the fact that I already had the Easy Share software loaded on my computer so all I had to do was plug in the camera dock that I purchased at the same time and I was ready to go without having to import my other pictures into new software. It was that simple plug it in and go. It took about an hour to fully charge the rechargeable batteries I purchased with the camera and I was ready.

I love this camera. It is very simple to use and it takes great pictures. The camera isn't loaded with a lot of fancy features. It does have the necessary features needed to take great pictures. The image stablizer it great for getting the perfect pictures of little ones on the move. The zoom is worth every cent that I paid for the camera. The information button makes it easy for recall what all the symbols stand for. The crop feature is wonderful, really helps make the perfect pictures. I haven't used the video recorder to much,what little I have used it I think it's great as well. The batteries have a long life if the correct ones are used. Lithium batteries are a must. Alkaline batteries and not even recommended for this camera. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who likes to takes a lot of pictures. The more practice that I have with the camera the more I love it.

I love the detail of close ups with this camera and the zoom. The quality of the pics are great. I used this for my son's 5 year pics instead of having them done professionally and I am pleased. I was especially impressed with the video as well. I would recommend this camera for those who want something a bit better then point a shoot, but nothing complicated. It had the same features as my old camera so I didn't need to read directions either. I had to replace the battery pack quickly with 2 double A lithium batteries, but that's not a big deal.

This camera may be good if you never take a picture outdoors. There is no viewfinder to look through. Outdoors, any natural light will make seeing what your trying to take a picture of impossible. The LCD screen reflects a fairly good mirror image of your face. So it may be good to adjust your makeup but not much else.

I wanted a point and shoot with a big zoom and I thought this Kodak had great features at a great price. After working with the camera a few days I was able to get consistently excellent pictures. The zoom is great, there is almost no shutter lag and shot to shot time is excellent.

But, when I took snapshots indoors using the flash, most of them were blurry. It turns out that the Program Mode has a 1/30th flash sync instead of the normal 1/60 or 1/125. If there is any movement by the subject the picture is ruined. There are ways around this, but it takes a little extra effort. In the end I returned the camera rather than fiddle with it before every quick, indoor flash shot.

So, if you don't mind tweaking some settings, this camera takes very nice pictures. But if you're looking for a point and shoot with a long zoom that will automatically give you great pictures, this may not be the camera you want.

I bought this camera for my wife just before we went on vacation. We love it. It has many features but is still easy to use. We were both surprised at a couple of features that we didn't know about. First is the panaramic shot where the camera automaticly blends three shots together. the other is the burst features where you can hold down the button and either take 5 shots in a row (about one every second) or take up to 30 in a row and the camera will save the last five. Good for action shots or if you are waiting for someone to blow out candles on a birthday cake.
We also got a memory card for extra storage and are glad that we did because the 8.2MP was an upgrade and the memory card from our last camera wouldn't hold as many pictures.

I am truly happy with this camera. It takes great photos and is easy to use. I have not had any problems with blurry photos and if I do it's operator error!! I love the bright vivid colors it captures. I have used both a 1 gig and 2 gig SD cards and they hold a bunch. I did recently purchase an 8gig SDHC hard and am looking forward to using it!

I will agree that the Kodak software stinks. It's cumbersome and useless. I just use an SD card reader and upload my photos to iphoto which provides any editing I might ever want right now.

If you're looking for a great camera that consistently takes great photos go with this one. It's very easy to use and user friendly. I love it!

This is a great little camera. We purchased it as a gift for our 19 year old son and we were all very impressed with the clarity of the pictures and relative ease of use. I have a Kodak DX7590 which I very much like (especially for the 10X zoom, but am so impressed with this little camera, have purchased another one for myself to keep keep with us all of the time. Just waiting for it to arrive. I also like that it comes with a battery charger, I have seen some similar models that only charge through a USB.

I've had this camara for a few months already. Excellent! The best value for your money. Great options for people who like to tinker with aperture, shutter time and film type and also for just point and shoot photo taking. Great resolution and video quality. This is a buy I definitely don't regret and recommend.

Update: I've had this camera for more than 3 years now. There are probably better ones by now, but this one is still great, working with no issues and taking amazing pictures. Would definitely buy any other Kodak Easyshare of this type without a second thought.

Bought this camera and it's super cute, takes great shots but it is NOT yet compatible with the new MAC Leopard operating system. The website says "leopard version of software comeing soon". I downloaded the kodak package and everything. When my shots would not upload I went to the kodak webpage and searched for Leopard and found it isn't quite there yet. Too bad. Now it's going back.

Una excelente cámara por este precio. Tenía una Kodak Z650 la cual reemplacé por esta cámara, y la diferencia fue notoria de inmediato. Es mucho más rápida, el enfoque es inmediato, y las fotos son tomadas en forma instantánea. El video es un extra muy interesante, aunque sale algo granulado en condiciones de poca luz.

Es importante resaltar que requiere baterías de Ion-litio pues mis baterías Ni-MH recargables no duran nada con la Kodak EasyShare Z812 IS. Si consigo tomar 20 fotos con una carga me considero afortunado. Por esto, es necesario adquirir baterías recargables de litio y la cámara funciona tal como uno quiere.

Simplemente, una excelente cámara, rápida, con buen enfoque, zoom potente y muchos extras, que se siente bien en la mano, y es fácil de manejar.

The camera is easy to learn how to use and it's 12X optical zoom lense with imaged stabilized zoom works well. I have not fully explored its capabilities, but I am very pleased with its performance so far. It takes good, crisp pictures - both close-up and far. I already had a rechargeable battery charger when I bought the camera. The rechargeable batteries I had do not work well with this (and other digital cameras, so I purchased rechargeables specifically recommended for digial cameras. I highly recommend that you buy the battery recharger and recommended rechargeable batteries from Kodak when you buy the camera, if you don't already have them. The camera comes with a standard non-rechargable battery - pay the extra cost for the rechargable.

This is a very good little camera for the price. I like the size which easily slips in a pocket. The resolution is decent and you can crop pictures quite a bit without it looking too pixelated. It is easy to download the pictures and the features on the camera are plainly marked. The only problem I have is that it has no viewfinder and it is hard to see the screen in bright sunlight.

Ordered this item on the weekend and I had it by Thursday. I was a little concern because some reviews stated that all items were not included or packaging was damaged. I received my camera and all items were included and the packaging was new no damage. So far I have enjoyed using the camera. Took it on a road trip this weekend and my husband and I were able to take picture of ourselve with the self timer. Have taken pictures of deer that were in my yard outdoors from kitchen window indoors without the flash and they came out perfect. So far I am really happy with my purchase

The photos taken with this rival those of more expensive SLRs and this is MUCH easier to use. I bought this after I bought my almost 70 year old mother the Z712, and saw the outstanding photos she took. Plus it has enough control for the experienced photographer to fine tune their shots. And the HD video is a BIG plus.

I don't have too much to add to all the praise on here for this camera, but I feel compelled to still give this camera 5 stars. The picture quality is great. It was easy for me to navigate the manual settings to take long exposure pictures of the recent lunar eclipse with only minimal leafing through the manual. I've also had good luck with the sports camera mode taking pictures of my daughter's ice skating show. I really wasn't sure when I saw the features of this camera for around $200, but it is a really great buy.

I had this camera for almost 3 months. I bought it mainly for its HD video capability--I'd give it 5 stars for that, maybe taking a star off for the weak audio recording (hint: get a Zoom H2 and record HD video with surround sound). The 12X zoom, IS, and other camera functions were also excellent, but I have a fully loaded Kodak P850 that is my main camera. For some unknown reason the Z812 LCD malfunctioned and started showing everything upside down and mirrored. The EVF still worked and displayed correctly. So, sadly, I had to return it and am now wondering if I should get another one or something else.

Edited: It looks like Kodak is coming out with a 10.1MP version (Z1012 IS) in April 08. I'm going to wait for that.

I've own this camera for less than a week and I've already went through 4 or five sets of batteries. The cheap one Kodak sent lasted the longest. I use rechargable batteries that the Z710 that I really liked used. I could get nearly 200 pics out of one charge on my 710, this camera is lucky to get fifty. I don't know if I should try lithium batteries or take it back and stick with the 710. The light meter doesn't work as well as my 710 does in manual mode either. I read nothing but what seemed like bad reviews about the 710 but in my opion my 710 runs circles around this 812. The extra zoom is nice and the HD is cool but I like to take pictures of wildlife and in cold weather your lucky to get ten pics on a set of batteries. I wish I would have saved my money and just bought a SLR. This camera was over half of what I would have spent on one anyway.

worked really well at first, but now my images are getting rather grainy, but i am sure it is probably something I am doing. My fav thing is the fact you can download all your pics at once, and then email ALL of them at the same time, instead of having to download each one individually!

This is a fabulous camera! I didn't think that it could take better pictures than my older Kodak, but I was really wrong. The picture quality is amazing, and with a billion different shooting modes, you can always get the picture you want. Love it - recommend it to anyone.

My sister got one of these for her hubby this Christmas. I have an S2IS for two years now. I love the pics that it took and the video was great. However, like my A-70 from Canon before that it has the E18 error that is common. I am annoyed at that and am fed up with it. Until I get a DSLR, I am getting one of these to replace the S2IS. The S5IS is twice the price. I was surprised at the picture quality and movie mode that my sisters Kodak z812 took. Not bad for the money. I am ordering the Kodak now. I'll use the S2IS with the E18 error as a weapon the next time I need to throw something at a mugger.

Very nice camera. Instructions are a little vague, but with a little searching and button pushing It can be figuered out. I have purchased a couple of lenses to go with it ( it does require the adaptor) and am looking forward to seeing how much more it will enhance my pictures. Will post a review on the lenses as soon as I put them to use.

This is the best camera I have ever bought. Takes good pictures, has lots of settings to chose from. The price is very good compare to other camera from Canon, sony. My only disadvantage is the lens cover fall off very easily and the battery cover seem to be very delicate (Don't drop this camera).

I love the new camera! I finally upgraded from what now seems like an antique. It's easy to use, pictures are great. the only recommendation i would have for kodak is to send camera instructions with the camera. in order to actually learn more about all the features of the camera you have to down load/ print from the website. may be convenient for some, not for all. still learning how to take full advantage of the camera but love it none the less.

Easy to use - remarkable close-ups. Buy the rechargeable lithium ion batteries to use with it - regular rechargeables do not work for more than a few minutes. Learn how to suppress the flash (it explains how in the manual) and for a home camera - Wow! fun and easy to use. Fast shooting, not like my last digital camera. Image stabilization works as advertised.

This camera has amazing zoom capabilities and I have found myself amazed at the picture quality that goes along with it. The only complaint that I have is that the pictures tend to get a "fuzzy" look to them in low quality light and the night shots are sub-par, especially without a tripod or a stable base. Otherwise, great camera for an awesome price!

If you are considering buying a new camera, I would highly recommend the Z812 IS. I upgraded to the Z812 from the Kodak Z730, and it was worth the price. My pictures come out clear, and they can be cropped without losing very much picture quality. The Zoom quality is great, and The color is extraordinary! The camera has both Auto and Manual focus, and my photos are hardly ever blurry. The Z812 also has a Panorama Stitch mode. The Menus are very easy to navigate, and I haven't had to read the Users Manual once. This is my 3rd camera, and I couldn't be more happy with it.

Used camera briefly and took about 8 pictures. Camera has already been sent in to Kodak for service under warranty. Camera came with only a "tester" battery that lasted for 3 photos. Was told by customer service that this was normal. The few pictures that it did take successfully were beautiful, however shutter button broke within a day.
