This was a gift for my daughter and she loves it. She had a larger Kodak camera but wanted a smaller one with larger screen. This has a touch screen too that makes it so simple.

What I love best is the Image Stabilization which easily allows you to zoom in 12X (optical zoom) and shoot using no tripod or camera shake. It's also easy to bump up the ISO you are shooting at by selecting the "P" mode. It's a bit bulkier than some (more like a small SLR) but that makes it harder to accidently drop. The CRV3 batteries are expensive but W-Mart also sells a 4-pack of AA Energizer Lithiums for the same price. Use two at a time, cutting the cost in half. This is a great little camera and takes excellent pictures. It is 8.2mp. Use the fine compression setting and you should get fantastic pictures. UPDATE 9/2009: I've had this camera for over a year now and I am still VERY happy with it. It has never disappointed me. It actually has more features than I ever use. One thing though....I see Kodak no longer warranties their reburbished cameras for a full year. Now only 30 days...so buyer beware. This one a bought new, so there's no problem. But again, I love this camera!

This is a fine camera for its type and, particularly, its price.
If you want to take good pictures, learn more about digital photography, and not spend a large amount of money then this is the camera to get.
The lens is great; it's real glass and not cheap plastic and its diameter is large compared to many other cameras in this price range.
You can use the camera in Automatic mode and get great pictures. You can also, when you want to, use Manual mode and learn how to control light and exposure time. It can provide good training for later moving up to a more expensive DSLR camera.
I actually have the older model, a Z710. They keep improving it, mainly by adding more megapixels. Look for the 'Z' in the model number.
The Z812 is an excellent camera that you will like and will keep. It's light enough to travel with you but advanced enough to get good pictures and provide flexibility for your shooting needs.
I also bought a Tamrac Expedition 3 back pack to hold the camera and accessories, such as a cleaning kit, spare batteries, etc.
This is a great value in a good camera.

I've only had my camera a few weeks but it's been great so far. It's a huge improvement from the 2mp camera I had. It's small enough to fit in my pocket which was what I wanted it for, and it has sound themes to choose from so that's kind of fun. The face detection is kind of cool. Only thing I'm unsure about is the zoom. It doesn't seem to zoom in very far and when you do zoom all the way in, the picture looks very grainy, on the screen at least. It may not come out that way when printed. I don't know. I'm happy with my purchase though. It's a good camera for the casual picture taker.

There are a number of problems with this camera that aren't mentioned in some of the reviews.

Problem #1: Shutter delay - there is about a one second delay from when
you press the button until the picture is taken. It is very disappointing to see a picture of the second after the candles have been blown out :(

Problem #2: Cannot take action photos. Period. This is the worst camera I have ever had in terms of action photos. My daughter is a diver and I have yet to be able to get a decent picture of one of her dives. Between the shutter problem and the poor "sport" setting - it is just about worthless. the only option is to take movines of the dives and try to get stills from that. But you lose the resolution.

Problem#3: Poor burst mode. One of the reasons I bought this camera was because it had two supported burst modes. The burst is Sooooooo slow that you can take pictures faster with a single shot camera - but not this one see problem #1.

There are more problems than I can go into in this forum. Suffice it to say that if you are not going to use this camera to take posed portrait stills, don't buy it. I regret my purchase.

This is a really neat little camera, small and light with more than adequate features for someone who wants to do a bit more than point and shoot.It takes some time to learn, and can be a bit confusing. The booklet that comes with the camera is ok for the basics, but I recommend downloading the full manual from Kodak to fully utilize the camera's features.On the down side is the very short battery life, so I would recommend carrying a spare.

I'm loving my new compact camera that fits so easily into my purse. The battery life is great, the 3" LCD screen is fabulous and with Smart Capture I just have to point and shoot !! My friends have all seen it and want one now too !!! I am definitely glad I chose to buy another Kodak !

We bought this camera for our 17 yr. old daughter who is a picture-taking fanatic. She had an older Kodak Easy Share and was ready for a new one. She is having a blast with this new camera. It's easy to use, she loves the touch screen. The pictures are so clear and vibrant. It's a fun camera for any age. We have a Kodak all in one printer and the pictures print out better than the ones we had done at a store Kiosk.

We haven't had a problem with the battery compartment sliding open like other people have stated. This camera was purchased primarily for pictures not for the video feature, so I can't say anything about that.

All in all, I would say if you're an amateur camera buff, this camera should work just fine for you.

The popup flash is a big issue with camera like this. The popup flash stopped popping up for my camera and the camera is basically useless. The camera also shuts down every once in a while for no reason and I miss precious shots. I loved the camera initially because of all the features it has but now I hate it.

Easy to use, share and print! This camera is user friendly and takes great pictures. Lots of scenes to select from to get the right amount of light-zooms fast and close. I did hours of research on the the internet and in local electronic stores and tested several models including Nikon (Coolpix) and Sony (CyberShot) and everytime, this camera was more bang for the buck. Love it. You will not be disappointed-after all Kodak IS photos!

This is the first digital camera I've bought since the last one which only had 2mp (that was just over 4 years ago). I liked the picture quality of my last one which seemed to do well considering it was only 2mp so I stuck with Kodak. Being the eager person I am, I just opened the box and started taking pictures. It is a little complicated at first, but it works well. The pictures are really nice and clean...when they work. This camera is not as forgiving with movement and I get more blurry pictures with this one over the old one. Playing with the shutter speed may help, so I'll try that.

I've now owned the camera for about three weeks and while writing this review and looking at the camera I noticed...it is not 8.2MP, but rather 8.1. I hope Amazon will fix their advertising, or really start shipping 8.2ers out.

There are a lot of complaints about the directions being comlicated, and it's all relative. They are not easy directions to follow, but this camera probably has more features than they are used to, so of course the directions are going to be more difficult. All in all, they are not that bad, nor are they that great.

The camera is an awesome value and a breeze to use. The menus are straight forward and the automatic settings take care of just about any everyday picture taking. You have the ability to manually set any of the items you may need is whatever special setting you want to shoot. The Pictbridge allows you to print directly from the camera to a Kodak Easyshare Printer (I have a 5500) with great results. The focus is quick and accurate. The zoom remains clear at all levels and works great for framing special shots. The flash is automatic and produces an excellent balance for flash photos, no "washouts". The color is very well balanced and saturated in the prints. The only drawback is the neck strap is not easily removed. I added clips to be able to remove it more easily. Overall, Kodak did a great job of producing a camera that will fit the needs of most people at a good price. Finally, I was amazed at the quality of video the camera produced. The movies were very clean (No jumping movements)and the ability to print each frame is a plus. I would match the video quality to many high end cameras. You would not expect this quality at this price. Being wireless to the printer would be a plus, but what do you expect for such a low price

I decided to buy the Z812 IS Kodak after my 4.1 MP Fujifilm kicked the bucket, and boy was it an upgrade. I LOVE this camera. Currently, I am by no means a photography expert--I am more than content with the simple point-and-shoot aspects of this camera. It is easy to figure out how to use it from the very start. The pictures come out amazingly detailed with balanced and vibrant colors, not to mention that the zoom capabilities take my breath away every time. I am also at ease knowing that, should I decide to learn more about photography in the future, this camera will allow me to play around with shutter speed and more manual options.

The only reason that I did not give this 5 stars is not the actual camera's fault, but Kodak's. I dislike having to install Kodak EasyShare software in order to download my picture onto my computer, as that means I can only transfer pictures onto my own computer unless I feel like carrying the software installation CD around and installing it on other people's computers. There might be a way around this, but I am not a technological genius and have yet to figure it out.

So far I have really enjoyed the camera. There are so many settings and I have not figured them all out just yet, but I am sure once I do then I will like it even more. I have enjoyed taking pictures and videos and using the software that came with it to enhance the pictures. The camera is small enough to take along but not too small to hold and steady. I bought a 2GB SD card and have 1272 pictures and 44 minutes of video at the highest quality setting. So far I have recorded a school play, two award ceremonies and taken many photos from near and far in all light conditions. I do not have the steadiest hands and there is a built in stabalizer that helps with that. Overall I am very pleased and feel that the camera was well worth the money and I wish I had gotten it sooner.

I'm not a professional photographer and I don't like cameras with too many features. This camera is easy to use and takes fabulous pictures with the simplest Auto setting. I turned off the flash and left it on the Auto setting all through my Italy visit and came back with the most amazing pictures. The shots impressed professional photographers (not only because Italy itself is picturesque beyond words!). I also got a few one- or two-minute video clips which played beautifully on my computer. The camera is small and thin and fits in my little purse. I dropped it a couple of times and nothing happened to it. I recommend this camera wholeheartedly to all who travel (or not).

this is the worst digital camera I had ever!!! I bought it because my Sony Cibershot 5.2 megapixeles needs AA batteries and they don't last too much, so I decide to buy a new one with li-ion battery. What I say is awful is the picture quality. If you use it with natural light and no zoom it is ok. It works perfect. But if you use zoom or with flash, they are horrible. Look like if you use a cell phone. They look so grainy that it doesn't work for me. This camera may be useful for someone just for fun but not for someone who need to take pictures of maps, figures, close up in nature, etc. Even though the camera style is nice and the battery life is fantastic, it last almost 1 month!!!

I bought this camera to replace my Kodak EasyShare C530 5mp. I have been very impressed. It has met and exceeded my expectations. I brought it with me to a friends house to take pics of her 6, 5 and 3 yr old. The pictures turned out great! I did not like that the camera took a second to focus, but when it did the pictures were amazing.
The size intimidated me (it is very thin) but once I took a few pictures I became very comfortable. The settings are a wee bit confusing but very easily learned.
I have now bought another one for a friend in the military who is in need of a new camera. For the price you can not ask for a better camera.

It is little hard to get clear picture at maximum zoom but that is because I have problem and shake quite a bit with monopod it is great...The controls have better feel than my Kodak M753 that is why I bought it. I just returned to Panasonic Fs20 i did not like .

But this camera i just got today i did pics of the kids and its fast !! of 50 pics maybe 2 came out blurry.
So im happy -its small -3 inch lcd.
colorful
very sharp nice pics.
i was going to get the silver one but i ended up with the black one because it was much cheaper then silver
so who cares about the color!
For this price 10 mp i do recommed this camera to everybody.

its was nice sold it. i will give a 4 star not a 5 like did because the camera is very slow also night shots are poor. but everything else is great.

I purchased this camera primarily to upgrade to HD video capability from my current Casio EX850. Unfortunately, the Kodak camera lense periodically "clicks" as it tries to adjust for lighting changes, which shows up on the video. The quality of the video itself is much more detailed than my Casio, which only shoots video at 640 x 480 30 fps. However, the Kodak sound quality on videos is noticably poorer than the Casio. Another important note, my PC's Windows Media Player cannot read the Kodak video format and had to use Quicktime instead. Finally, the cameras battery compartment doesn't lock very well and easily slides open when handling the camera.

After a week of use I decided to return it. Although, this 2nd generation HD video capable V1073 is an improvement over the first generation V1053, its still not quite there yet in my book.

Very practical camera with it's small compact design that takes big pictures. Big viewing area. So far seems to work perfect. I love it. I had an older Easyshare, much more bulky and slower taking pictures and the viewing area was too small to really make out if picture was any good. Would definitely recommend this one.

I upgraded from a Kodak easy share that I had purchased about 2 years ago. We took a significant step upward with this camera - it's got tons more features than my previous camera. I thought that I would be overwhelmed with the features and not use most of them. Not so. I purchased this one primarily for the #of megapixels, the optical zoom and the speed at which it takes a picture (which can be an annoying feature of most digital cameras where the 1-2 second delay can make you miss some great shots.) The delay is nominal (about .4 seconds) which is awesome. It has a large lcd screen, also awesome, great optical zoom and a burst feature which I don't know how I lived without. I have investigated many of the features on this camera using the manual that came with it and by navigating the menus on the camera itself. Very easy to use.

I can go on and on about how awesome this camera is. I love it. I have used it steadily since Christmas and can not complain about it.

If you find one, buy it!

After comparing features in an entry level digital camera with a reasonable optical zoom, I settled on this camera (the Z812IS). ON THE PLUS SIDE: I am thrilled with the quality of the pictures that I have taken; the optical zoom is super! Camera is super easy to use; intuitive; You can take great pictures the minute you take it out of the box. The IMAGE STABILIZATION system is terrific and has saved some questionable shots for me!
ON THE DOWN SIDE: This camera LOVES batteries at $5.00 a pair and I am going to have to get the KLIC-8000 rechargeable unit before I go broke buying disposables!
The zoom button is in a nuisance spot if you are using the eyepiece viewer as opposed to the 2.5" LCD screen. The lens cover comes off too easily if you bump the camera!
But, on the whole, I am absolutely SATISFIED with this camera!!!!!!

I read some reviews of this camera. They looked promising. I decided to pick it up as a impulse buy. If the flash goes off the still pictures look ok. The video is terrible. I bought this to replace my Fujifilm E550 which takes ok video. But the M1033 video looks far too noisy to be useful. I thought with HD capability it would at least take fair video.

I have owned this camera just a few weeks and I am very impressed. It is the epitome of high value, innovative and sexy design, and user friendliness. My Canon Powershot S50 died recently, and when I saw the Z812IS, its 12X optically stablized zoom, and HD Video I was intrigued. It was not until I hooked up the camera to the optional HDTV dock that I began to really appreciate what this guy can do.

Color stills are fabulous. HD Video: it works! I wanted HD video for golf swing analysis, and did not wish to part with the $$ for a standalone HD video camera, so when this appeared it was a God-send. You can do frame-by-frame advance on your big screen, at 30 frames per second at 1280 x 720 (720p--good 'nuf for my purposes), and you can extract sequences off of your videos so it absolutely perfect for my needs. There are multiple other features adding value as well. Lag time to shoot is decent.

Be aware the low price goes up as you will definitely want to accessorize this honey. The HDTV Dock, which doubles as a battery charger, is a must if you own an HDTV. I bought a 2GB SD 133x flash memory card which will meet my needs just fine for now. If an 8gb 133x or greater card comes along I will probably pick this up for lengthy video storage. This camera is the perfect hybrid video/still camera for someone on a budget who doesn't want to sacrifice features, output quality and ease of operation. Up n running in seconds! Highly recommended :o)

I bought this camera after reading the reviews, and saw some were less then thrilled with their camera. After purchasing it, I can say, "This is great!". It takes fantastic pictures in the dark and in the middle of the day. The zoom option is fantastic and the stabilization option couldn't be better. I even took some pictures while I was in a moving vehicle and I saw no blur and it was really clear. I'd defiantly recommend this camera to anyone who was considering buying it.

It is the first digital camera I decided to get before moving to a more professional camera for my career. I must say it was a wise choice. It is great for it's price. I have learned a lot from it. I love the SLR style of it. It is super easy to use and comes with it's own very basic photo editing but that is ok I do not like to edit my photos much anyway. I love it!!!

Ok now that I have had the camera for a bit I do still love it but the one thing I have a problem with is the battery the one it came with lasted for maybe 100 pictures then I got a new rechargeable CRV3 battery and it claims to last for 300 pictures well it lasted me for about 40 pictures. I do not know if has to be a Kodak battery for it to work longer but it is annoying. If I could change it I would to 4 stars for the battery issue. I know it is not a top of the line camera but the battery should last longer.

I bought this camera about a month ago and the first that I got was defective so I sent it back. The screen was messed up on that one. Got the second one used it for about 2 weeks and now it won't turn on. Called Kodak to troubleshoot told me the battery was dead, like that wasn't the first thing I thought was wrong and tried. It wasn't the battery needless to say. So I am returning this one as well. I will not be getting another Kodak anytime soon. I am very disappointed with the quality of this product. I would not recommend this to anyone unless you want a big hassle.

I have had this camera for a few weeks now and I really like it. In fact I like it better than my digital SLR for the most part. I purchased this because I am a mom and I like to take pictures of my kids when we are out. It really isn't practical to haul an SLR to the park, Disney, etc. So I did a lot of research and went with this one. I love that you can watch the pictures in HD on your TV. It takes good video for a camera (not really an issue for me because I have a video camera. I am very impressed with the overall picture quality. Also the camera has tons of modes to take pictures in and my favorite feature of the camera is that you can crop the picture right there on the camera. Finally, I love that these cameras come in colors it helps make the camera standout so you don't forget it or get it confused at parties. Anyway I am very impressed so far. I only gave it 4 stars because I haven't had it that long.

i bought this item 2 weeks ago and i printed an 8x10x11 picture and it was very cloudy and it has lines in the pictures and in the camera also. i also printed a 4x6 picture and it was terrible it had lines all in the picture i said to my self i am never ever buying a Kodak again so i bought a canon power shot sd750 and it takes amazing pictures no i would not reccomennd this camera to anyone

I am a HUGE fan of Kodak cameras and this was the 3rd digital Kodak I purchased and I only bought it because my V530 stopped working after two years. I was so in love with that one I thought this was going to be a wonderful upgrade. Wow was I wrong! I only used this for one weekend and I am sending it back, no matter how I change the settings the pictures turn out grainy. My other 5mp camera was so much better. I just ordered the Olympus Stylus 840, all reviews for that one were great and I am hoping to have better luck with that one.

The camera is one of it's kind. I was scared when I first read the reviews but all that is gone now as I am enjoying the camera. It makes me stand out wherever I go. The earlier reviews, about the battery cover flipping open occasionally, is one giant lie. The battery lid slides neatly in.

The touch screen is another fantastic quality it has. It makes it look more like a mini computer than a camera! An almost buttonless wizard! Men, you cant believe the level this camera can give you, when you go to an occasion and as other people bring out their "camera", you bring out this "near buttonless wizard!"

I recently bought Kodak M1033 after reading reviews. It looks wonderfull and it was all fine for a couple of weeks. Then trouble started. It doesn't turn-off, lense dont move, lcd screen freezes. Chattering noise from camera. I called Kodak support and they asked me to send the camera on my expense, hope they cover repair. I think when we buy online, we should plan for better waranty. This was my first kodak camera brand and the worst one !!! I could not use it for my vacation. My bad selection.

This camera takes so so pics, but is not built to last what so ever. Camera one lasted about 4 months with top notch care and just stopped working all together and support is nowhere to be found. The second one I bought, same model just more pixel's started to have flash problems with the bulp after maybe 30 pics and now wont turn on at all, again with top notch care after just 3 weeks. Kodak camera's suck, I got a HP and it works excellent and isn't so cumbersome and lasts more than a few weeks for the price. Kodak is such a Waste of money for such a hefty price for it's products.

I bought this Kodak for my wife but I ended up using it about half the time, We took in on a recent Street Rod Tour and I am a complete DUMMY when it comes to photography . This thing is easy to use with automatic adjustment easy to read menus and turn the little dial on top for settings. The pictures came out real good. If I had a speck of criticism it would be the difficulty seeing the in the view window when the sun is shinning , But, that happens with all digital cameras . The price is right and the quality is very good.

La camara me parece fantastica.muy ligera para la opciones que tiene, es casi como una camara reflex, pero en pequeño y en ligero. NO le he podido sacar todo el provecho esperado,pues el mayor problema al que me enfrento es que no tengo una pila recargable y por desgracia esta camara no usa pilas 2A que no sean de litio y no sabia de eso hasta ahora que enfrento el problema y no tengo las pilas para seguir usandolas. Asi que le recomiendo a quien esté pensando comprarla , compre a la vez un juego de pilas recargables Klic-8000, que por cierto me parecen muy caras en comparacion con el precio de la camara que es muy economico. NO he podido encontrar las pilas en Mexico. ya hice un pedido de ellas en Adorama (que es donde ofrecen el mejor precio ), pero no están en stock..y no olviden comprar un cargador de baterias para las mismas. Bought this camera 4 months ago and can't tell you how many batteries we go through.This camera takes very good pictures and if you can work all the functions it has it can take excellent pictures.Its a bit bigger than the standard pocket cameras,but its very sturdy in the hand especially if your at the zoo hanging over the wall a bit to get a picture of a sea lion.

Just bought this camera and took on a trip out of the country. It's nice and small and light, so fits in a pocket easily. Unfortunately, however, it was very tough taking pictures in the outdoors with the camera, as I really couldn't see what was being shown in the LCD screen due to the bright outdoor lighting, and lack of a viewfinder. Total bummer, as a few of my pictures had the key points of interest cropped on the side since I couldn't frame the shot. Picture quality, etc., otherwise was fine.

My last camera was a Kodak and it was 8 years old. This new camera is just what I needed to carry in my purse. I hope it is as reliable as my last one. Love the red!

Великолепно

I got a Kodak easy share 6.1MP for my husband two years ago for Christmas and we can honestly say that for the money we sure got our last penny out of it and it is still going. We have had so much fun with that camera that this year I have requested a little red 8.2MP so I can have my own camera. Who would have known just a few years back that a digital camera for each family member was going to ever happen? Anyway, the joke in my house is that I always have the better stuff so naturally when I got my new little red camera it would be better than the old digital we had, well I surprised my husband this year with the Kodak Easyshare Z812IS 8.2MP Digital Camera with 12x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom.

It is a wonderful camera, the images are sharp, we are having fun with the Panorama views, the prints are clear. I have read reviews that were not very good and that just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe those people didn't know how to fully use their camera. But this is very easy to use, the Camcorder that is built in is as good as any I have used. We love it! I highly recommend this camera for the price and the features.

I am a bit disappointed by the quality of this camera. The shutter delay is a bit too long. After about two weeks of use, it started shutting down immediately after being turned on. Mailed it to a camera repair shop and hope the warranty covers it (supposed to). Haven't received it back yet. A few more dollars buys a substantially better camera: bought a Casio Exilim last week, with which I am much more pleased.

Camera do ok. pictures when it works . My unit brakes after 2 mo. (i did not droped it or drown it ) i do care about my electronics. Video is not hd quality - it is 720p but overall picture has alot of noise in it (evan outside in good lighting) You also have to wait long time to do another picture (like 5-7 seconds). You can use AA bateries but to use (supplied) battery you have to use harger and you have to buy it as the accesory!!!! what a rippof . No case for travel to . Kodak is gridy for costumers - DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA IT LOOKS NICE BUT REED ABOVE - sorry for my english - Magdalena Kubiak

Великолепно

This camera is awesome for the price. Takes wonderful pictures (that I take daily) and when you get them printed out at a photo center, they are amazing. Very happy with this camera. Large screen and easy to use.
