Just a few quick comments, as you have so many to wade through!
The BATTERY ISSUE is clear-the manual states: "Lithium digital camera battery CRV3, rechargeable Lithium Ion battery, OR AA LITHIUM! No where does it indicate AA Alkaline-they will barely power this camera, So, if you are installing AA Alkaline, and it powers up, you'll get 5 minutes. Rechargeable AA Ni-MH batteries, won't even boot the device. So, the catch phrase is LITHIUM, NOT Alkaline.
I purchased my Z812 IS refurbished,($141.00, like brand new,)and it works flawlessly with AA LITHIUM batteries. I've taken about 100 pix and have been exploring the menu system, and not a hint of the dreaded battery gauge on screen. (I'm waiting for my rechargeable to arrive.)
This camera does many things well and offers excellent pix at pretty much any setting. I am particularly impressed with the stabilization and auto focus at full zoom. Well done!
I'm still familiarizing myself with it, but wanted to clarify the battery situation for those who may not seek this camera for that reason. At the prices now, it's a must buy for those looking for image quality and loads of features in an Ultra-Zoom (Not to mention, HD pix and Video) for minimum cash outlay.

This is the second kodak digial camera I have owned. Purchased this one in January and it already is 'acting up'. The first one worked for a year and a half and just quit without warning! I used to really recommend this camera, but won't anymore and neither will the others I've suggested it to. The lens must be extremely sensitive as sometimes it comes out for a picture and other times it shuts off. I won't buy another one like this. I depend on my camera for pictures of girls, I don't have time to worry if this will 'decide' to work today. The warranty is bogus. But the time you pay for the warranty, send it in, you could buy another one. I guess things are made to be disposible! Frustrating! I think we had only one camera the entire time I was growing up - it was a Pentex - so I will look at that next time!

This camera is awful. It constantly jams in the open position and Kodak's advise is to remove and reinsert the battery. Sometime this camera won't open and then you have to plug it into the charger even though it's fully charged. Pictures are grainy. Camera is a piece of junk and I will never buy another Kodak camera again.
As to Beach Camera where I bought it from - when I called them they understood my concern and issued a return authorization number. My refund was processed swiftly and accuratly. I would buy from Beach Camera again - just not any Kodak product

I pre-ordered this camera and was so excited to receive it! I already own a Kodak easyshare Z612 which takes beautiful, high detail photos at only 6 MP, but I was looking for a more "pocketable" camera because the sheer size of the z612 keeps me from taking my camera with me and taking as many photos as I'd like. So, I went with the M1063 because of it's slim design, it's array of features (scene selection, HD, etc.), upgrade in MP's, and it's PINK!
When it finally arrived, I immediately started snapping away...only to find that on the on-camera screen, the pictures didn't look very sharp at all. In fact, many of them looked grainy...some looked dark (as if I hadn't used a flash)...and unfocused. I also noticed that the "face detection" technology never really seemed to pick up any of the faces I was trying to take pictures of! I thought maybe it was just the little screen and things would look better on my monitor, but once I uploaded them to my computer, they only looked worse. Magnified to 100% and you can really see how unfocused and grainy the pictures really are! Now if 6 MP was detailed, I certainly expected 10.3 MP to be SHARP...but I find that these photos are LESS DETAILED than my 6 MP photos! Take a picture of my cat with the z612, and you can see each individual hair...use this camera, and it's just a confusion of black and white fur. The only photos that seem to come out decent are ones taken within an arms length; beyond that, it's a mess.
If it weren't for the mere fact that you can enlarge these past 4 X 6, I'd say I can take better photos with my iphone. Sigh.

This is my second Kodak Camera ever owned and I can honestly say I'm very satisfied. I've tried other brands but they alway get returned for a Kodak. The V1073 just like any other Kodak camera is very user friendly. The pictures come out flawless. One of the things I love about Kodak cameras are there fast shutter speed. You will never miss a moment with this camera. The only small flaw is that the screen is alittle more difficult to see in daylight than other cameras I've owned. But the pics still came out beautifully and really all cameras have that issue on a extra sunny day. The touch screen is just an extra bonus. Not really needed but a cool feature to have. Overall very satisfied!

Nice size. The picture quality is good esp for close up shots, but occasionally pictures come out blurry and I try to retake them and they're still blurry. The battery runs out too frequently and there's not enough warning that it's getting low so the camera just freezes up until it is plugged in. I do like the push button "on" instead of the dial. I tried to e-mail a picture from the camera but it didn't work and the instruction manual is pretty worthless because it just shows you where the menus are but not how to use the special features or any troubleshooting.

Overall, this is a good little camera. It looks sleek and stylish and photos come out well. The only thing is that there is some lag when capturing fast shots. I've missed several photo opportunities due to this. Other than that, I've loved the camera and it is easy to use.

I owned a Kodak Easyshare for years and was pretty happy with it except for the docking system. I felt good enough about Kodak to try out this camera for my next upgrade.
Within 1 week the first camera stopped turning on even when fully charged so we returned it. The second camera worked for about 1 month. During that time we took the family for the first time to a memorable trip back east to historic places like Washington DC. Upon return home we found out that about 70% of the pictures turned out blurry. This will be my last Kodak purchase.

This camera is very nice in size and use. The camera card is easy to insert and remove. The camera has all the functions I need and it also helps me center my photo's. It is small enough to fit in my pocket.
I couldn't get service at Wal-Mart to buy this camera. Amazon had it to me in two days. And at a price I could live with.

After shopping cameras for a while I decided to veer away from the feature heavy "premier" brands I've purchased in the past and go for one that does exactly what I need it to do: Point and shoot fast, with minimal tinkering, for great shots in a small form factor. This Kodak does it. The auto scene selection in particular is impressive. You can choose the scenes manually, but taking shots in auto select mode always turns out really good pictures. The camera is small enough for me to carry in my front pockets and remain barely noticible. Power on and ready to snap is less than two seconds, the screen is spacious, and the firmware is logical and easy to navigate. If you are heavy into the world of digital photography you probably shouldn't even be looking at this camera but if you are looking for something quick, easy and quality this might be the camera that ends your search.

I purchased this Kodak camera in February and was able to take it on one vacation. By early April, it was defunct. The camera would turn on but would not stay on even with the battery fully charged. Upon taking it to the repair shop I learned that it would cost more to have the camera fixed than I paid for it originally so I gave up on it. I also noticed in trying to upload the photos from the camera to my computer that approximately 20% of the photos simply wouldn't transfer. I ended up having to use a card reader to extract them. I had issues with the Kodak Easy Share Software causing my computer to freeze up and once the camera quit working, I vowed I would never purchase another Kodak digital camera. I never dropped or mistreated the camera in any way so I am still unsure why it died. Needless to say, I would recommend spending a bit more money for a nicer camera. I recently purchased a new one of a different brand and have been much happier with it.

The features for the price is excellent. (this is an upgrade from a 2 ½ yr old 5mp, 8X zoom, Konica-Minolta z20)
Pictures: I have only used it outdoors so far. Primarily skiing. Surprisingly light weight for its size. Very good quality pics even in automatic mode. One feature I love that I have not seen mentioned much, is the sensor to determine the orientation of the camera and automatically saving correctly so that you don't waste time having to re-orient the pictures later. IS works well, giving solid results even handheld at full zoom. Wish it had a dedicated review mode though - it always pops the lens cap off and drives the lens out of the main barrel even if your only intent is to show friends a few pics on the bright LCD. The menus are pretty obvious and useful for most items (including basic help descriptions available right on the camera) and I like the dedicated first burst/last burst/EV bracketing/timer, etc... and flash mode buttons right on top. I like the multiple focus boxes that show exactly what it thinks the highlights of the scene are so you can either snap or reset the frame. And super quick from the half press/focus to taking the picture for a digital camera.
Video: I bought a 4GB card to go with the camera especially due to the video capability, which uses a lot of memory in HD mode. It eats something close to 2MB per second in some of my skiing clips! (though more typical seems to be closer to ~1MB per second) Video zoom on skiers works mostly very well, but occasionally loses focus in shadowy areas on a sunny day (too high a contrast I guess). There is some minor motor noise recorded from using the zoom in very quiet environments as well. As I am not looking for professional level audio (who would buy a still camera for that?), it's an acceptable, unobtrusive amount of noise. Also, my 3 yr old laptop chokes on the full HD sized video (skips/stutters), but fortunately my work laptop is new and can play the HD sized clips just fine.
Summary: This camera is very good. And phenomenal options and features for the price. There are other options out there for marginally higher quality on either the pictures or video or amount of zoom or etc..., but you will double, or more, the price. Certainly not worth anything near that level of extra cost in my opinion given the capabilities and quality of the Z812IS.

I bought this camera in June 2008. I originally had to return it for a new one because the first one stopped turning on right away. I've had it for over a year now, and in the past couple of months it has gotten more and more problematic. First, it stopped opening all the way when I turned it on. Now, it won't even open. It turns right back off unless I have it in favorites mode. I'm just done with the darned thing. Don't buy this one.

This camera is awesome. You have great zoom capabilities, Very easy to charge and takes great pictures. The draw back of this camera is the battery life of the camera. It usually only last for one session or day then you must recharge your camera.

I like this camera really well, I am older, never had a digital camera, this looked good , so Voila>>>>> bought it.... I do not have any problems with the software, my pic's load just great....everything is wonderful...........EXCEPT......when I'm outside I cannot see the subject in the LCD, as it is too bright....inside pic's are wonderful, but cannot see anything in the LCD when outside.......other cameras have a little 'peephole' they look thru to solve this problem, but this camera DOESNOT....all you have is the LCD.....

This is an ok camera for taking family picture.But the easyshare software that comes with the camera for transfering pictures to pc is a pain.
Everytime I transfer pictures using this software ( I have latest copy of it), it skips some of the pictures from transfer. I have called their support twice. They told me to do a routine - delete some files on my pc , then rename some folders and transfer again. But I have to do it EVERY TIME i need to transfer pictures. Because everytime some of the shots I have taken are not transfered to my pc.
Very disappointed! Will not recommand it.

Really like this camera. I do a lot of closeup and low light pictures and have no problems in any light conditions. The pictures come out crisp and clear even printed in 8 X 10 size.

We bought this for our 12 year old- it was eeasy to use and very enjoyable for taking photos and video, but on the 4th day, we found it would not re-charge. I bought a new battery for it, which did not solve the problem. I wanted a camera that we could recharge and not have to continue to feed AA batteries. I don;t know what was wrong. Otherwise we loved it. We ended up returning it and getting a different camera.

Pictures taken are moderately good. But the system has a big problem. If you have not used this camera for a day or two, then LCD would be black once you turn it on. You have to shut it down and turn it on again, or take out the battery and put it back, then LCD displays well.
I was intended to mail my camera to Kodak repair center, but they charge me a lot even if it's in warranty. So I gave it up.

I bought this camera 2 days ago while on a trip out of state. I bought it to replace another easyshare camera (V803) I lost just the other day.
What I LOVED about this camera was:
* Ease of use - menu navigation and controls
* Easier to hold onto not as slippery
* Fantastic and large LCD screen!
* Great shots - not blurry like my other Easyshare V803
* Fantastic video
My V803 always froze on me to where I'd have to remove the battery. If I took pics of my kids they were ALWAYS blurry. I even had the camera serviced 3 times in the first year I had it and it still froze on me.
But the MD863 took FANTASTIC shots! And I was impressed with the shutterspeed.
Only one major problem. The camera made a very high pitched noise when the LCD screen was on. When I recorded video the noise was amplified. The high pitched noise would stop when the LCD screen went off to conserve battery power. Called Kodak and they said I could send it in for repair but with my unsuccessful repair history with the other camera I am going to choose to return it to Walmart instead. I don't want to have to wait weeks for it to get fixed for one, and 2 I don't have a lot of faith that they will actually fix the dang thing. Kodak should just give you a new one when these things happen.
If I cannot get another one (same model) that works, I think this will kill it for me and Kodak. I know they are one of the best brands out there but if I cannot get any luck with 2 different Kodak camera models then I'd be stupid to purchase it again. It's true, hardward just isn't made like it used to be.

At first we loved this camera which we bought for Christmas (based on Conusmer Reports ranking in picture quality, speed, and low light). As usual, we found their report accurate. HOWEVER, within a month the camera began "locking up" -in the middle of reviewing photos, or trying to take one, all the buttons would stop working. I could not even turn it off. Removing and replacing the battery solved the repeated problem for a few weeks, but then even that stopped helping. The camera was inoperable. In less than two months of use I had a brand new camera that would not work! It does come with a one year warranty, so after an hour long conversation with a Kodak customer service agent who was difficult to understand (I think she was in India), they are taking the camera to service or replace with a refurbished one. I hope it solves the problem, but seeing online how many others have experienced it I fear the whole design may be flawed somehow...In short, my experience has been that it is a great camera when it works, but its unreliability makes it a poor choice...

I bought this camera and it only worked for a week or so. Then the camera started not powering up (that is, the lens opened then closed right away. I tried a new battery which didn't work, and I put it aside. Big mistake. Now I don't know if it's under warranty, and I barely got any use out of it. I wouldn't recommend this camera if there are going to be issues right away. There are much better comparably priced cameras.

This was a good upgrade for our family. Picture quality is excellent. Pretty easy to use overall. The video feature is really nice quality although if you're using it in a high volume setting (concert, etc.) the sound recording is not great.
My only real complaint about this camera so far is that it's a battery monster. If you get this camera, plan on investing in some really, really good rechargeable batteries. Otherwise it will eat batteries like crazy.
I got mine as a refurbish deal so it is definitely worth the money we paid for it!!!

I got this camera for my father to use in conjunction with the G600 printer dock to take pictures of skin ailments at his dermatology practice. I am very impressed by the quality of the macro setting and the highly detailed photos you can take very close to the subject. Very good for detail work. He is also not very techno saavy and he can use it just fine.

I ordered this charger and it came 2 days later so fast delivery/dispatch!!!......but when I recieved it, it wasn't working, so not impressed.when I rang up to advise the company it took me hours to get through to the relevant person who told me I will have to send this back and wait a week or more fore new one!!!!! Made me very dubious about ordering of this company again!!! will be interesting to see if and when i recieve a replacement and if it works!!!!!

I bought this camera to take with me on vacation.
The camera works great and is easy to use.
It has 10.3 mega-pixels and therefore provides great clarity in the pictures and with the video.
The camera only has a 3 times zoom, but works great. If your wanting close up pictures of wildlife, then you need to go to higher end camera. That is to be expected though, because this camera is less expensive, and gives great pictures for the price.
I liked it so much, I bought one for my ten year old daughter so she could get started taking photos. It's easy to use for beginners and also for people who don't need all the high tech gadgets.
The camera works great and is easy to use.
It has 10.3 mega-pixels and therefore provides great clarity in the pictures and with the video.
The camera only has a 3 times zoom, but works great. If your wanting close up pictures of wildlife, then you need to go to higher end camera. That is to be expected though, because this camera is less expensive, and gives great pictures for the price.
I liked it so much, I bought one for my ten year old daughter so she could get started taking photos. It's easy to use for beginners and also for people who don't need all the high tech gadgets.

We had this camera for one year. It worked great for the most part. Then we noticed it started to slow down. The time it took between taking one picture and then being ready to take the next took longer and longer.
Then the zoom out function stopped working, so you could zoom in but you would have to shut the camera down and restart it to reset the zoom.
A month after that it stopped working completely. It would turn on, the lens would come out make a few clicks then go back in and shut off. Completely useless now.
I don't recommend this camera.

I love this camera. Only thing I did not like, which is why I gave it a 4 is the instructions that came with the camera is very poor and you have to learn how to use the camera on your own. This camera is replacing another kodak camera that stopped working after 3 years. I have printed out pictures already, and the quality is great, even the picture Cd I created. I have the kodak printer dock 3 and luckily this camera can be charged with it. Just remember if you have a printer dock 3, the cameras light will not start flashing to show it's charging until a few minutes pass.

I bought this camera a little over a year ago to get better pictures of my son. I previously had a 3 mp Nikon camera, and sadly, my old camera took better pictures that this one. I have to take 5 shots of each picture because most of my pictures come out blurry, despite having the antiblur feature on. A friend of mine has a Sony Cybershot, which she bought at the same price, and the quality of this camera doesn't even come close to hers. I'm disappointed I didn't read more reviews before buying this camera. It does take pictures, but unfortunately, half of the pictures in my son's photo album are slightly blurry and not nearly as clear as they could be had I researched more and bought a higher quality camera. It's a compact, colorful camera, but doesn't take high quality pictures.

This is a very cool camera with a lot of great features. The touch screen is very cool and easy to use. Pictures look great and are very easy to manipulate. There are several different styles and what not available to use, so you honestly have a very professional camera for a great value. Kodak is a great company and you can know that you will get a good product.
Caution though. Don't buy from Beach Camera as they sold me a defective camera and left me in the lurch. Once I went up the chain of command at Kodak, they quickly replaced the camera and I couldn't be happier.

The average review for this camera should be NO stars!!! Not only did we have the same problem that everyone else has (it works for about a week, then the lens stops staying open), but there are MANY reviews here that say how bad this camera is, yet it show as "4 stars". You have better odds of winning in Vegas than having this camera work for you. Don't risk it!

This fine little Kodak M1033 never worked. Out of the box, the video function was intermittent. Within hours all functions froze up. The camera won't respond to the push of any button. It cannot be reset (by removing the battery, for instance).
Meant to be a present, this camera was first used more than a month after the date of purchase. Since Staples store warranty covers 30 days only, the camera could not be returned for a full refund.
Kodak graciously offers to repair it--and they annoy their customers with a call center in India (nothing against India, but a 5 minute phone call easily steals half an hour of your time if you talk to people and their supervisors who have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. The fact that they don't understand your English and you can hardly decipher theirs does not speed up things, either). If repair is impossible, Kodak will replace the camera with a REFURBISHED model.
According to their policies, Kodak will NEVER give you a new camera to replace one of their defect products.
You may want to read the fine print before you trust good old household names like Kodak.

I bought this camera in late March 2008. I could get very good images with the camera most of the times, but the images were really bad when light conditions were not good (e.g., at a pub or in a church, museum etc.). But for most of the time it worked fine.
Now it is June 2009, 1 year and 3 months after I bought it, and the camera just stopped working - I didn't drop it, it was not exposed to liquid or anything that could harm it. It just doesn't work anymore, 3 months after the warranty expired.
One this is certain: I'll never by a Kodak camera again.

Very pixilated, blurry pictures. I even spent over an hour on line with Kodak trying to figure it out. I will never buy Kodak again.

I got this camera for Christmas and I really love it. It takes clear, crisp pictures and it has many features built right in. I rarely get a blury picture and it performs pretty well in low light too. I have some good night shots taken with this camera. It lives up to my expectations. The only reason I gave it four stars is because although the video quality is pretty good, the videos aren't as clear as my last Kodak camera I had. But I would recommend this camera if you are looking for something inexpensive yet effective and will deliver quality pictures whether for posting online or printing!

I'm not sure if I received a bad camera or not but about 1 month into using this camera, the flash didn't seem to be working properly. All of my photos were either very dark or overexposed even though I had it on Auto Flash mode and the flash appeared to be going off. I sent it in for repair once (it was under warranty but I had to pay the shipping charges). It was returned to me stating it was fixed but I still had the same problem. This was so frustrating as this was my only camera and I was missing key moments in my kids' lives. I sent it in again and this time they seemed to fix the flash problem but I spent far too much time talking to customer service about this. Even with the flash fixed, I still feel that pictures were blurry and not crisp. Also, it is impossible to take a picture outdoors in bright sunlight- you cannot see anything in the LCD screen (there is no viewfinder) so you have to guess if you are taking a good picture. I ended up getting a Canon Powershot A590IS and I am so much happier. I would not recommend this Kodak camera.

This is a wonderful little camera and the price is right. After reading the reviews about it on Amazon.com and then comparing pricing at Walmart and Target, Amazon's price is about $50 less than anywhere else. It takes beautiful pictures and is easy and truly fun to use. I had a Sony digital camera that broke and was unrepairable (the pins in the charger insert broke off) and I went for about a year without a camera. The Kodak Easy Share is absolutely perfect and I'm thrilled with the quality. I'd highly recommend it!

This camera is not what I am used to from Kodak. The Smart Mode instantly applies the Kodak Perfect TouchTech feature on any picture shot in that mode. Aggrivating--I feel like I paid for something I'm not going to use! Also, the joystick-type selector is cumbersome and the LCD screen makes the pictures look very grainy. This may have to do with the fact that you're fitting 10 mp worth of data in a 3" space.
Now . . . to the design flaw:
The flash is right under the shutter. I bought this camera thinking I was buying another like my M863 (which is being returned to Kodak for repairs--hint, hint) but I kept putting my finger over the flash because it is RIGHT under the shutter. Sure--I can "un-learn" how to do that but this is a complete different set up than other Kodak models.
Sorry Kodak--this one just isn't for me.

I bought this camera to replace a battery problem with double AA batteries on another camera. Battery is fine but as stated in other reviews, you can't see anything on the screen to take a picture with if you are outdoors. There is no viewfinder to aid you either although I always use the screen. All I could see was an image of my face in the lcd screen and I just had to guess, point and shoot and hoped I got what I was aiming towards. Not good at all. I am going to return it! What good is it if you can't see what you are aiming towards? I would not recommend this at all!

Kodak has always create the best on the scale of quality v affordability. This camera is no exception. The pictures are extremely crisp and sharp, the videos are HD (720p). If you are a everyday camera enthusiast, this is the camera for you. At under $200, it is very affordable with easily the same results as a $500 Canon or Nikon. The touchscreen works well but is sometimes hard to see in direct sunlight. The camera self-adapts its modes and works well in any environment. 10MP is more than enough for me and just using this camera, you can take pro quality pics with a consumer price!

I really like Kodak cameras, but the second day I had this I saw that the screen had already been scratched. The scratch on the screen is very annoying. Other than that, it isn't a bad camera.

i had received this camera as a gift a few years back. After extensive use i can say that this is a good product. Its small and compact. It takes nice pictures for personal use. Its battery also holds up pretty well and charges fairly quickly. I have yet to have any real problems with this product. It is actually really user friendly compared to other cameras that i have had in the past.
