This camera has some positive sides and drawbacks

pros (positive sides): Small, excellent qualities photos compare to my latest small camera Canon ELF400 what was much worse. Perfect big size video. Great software package that comes with camera. Easy to use - only few simple modes;

cons: Embedded in camera software sometime hangs on. I am not sure if it is camera defect but writing to 2 GB flash card is getting slower and slower as more this flash card is filled in. The last negative element is absence of HDR filter. I know this is an extra but it is so nice to have. I know some Sony cameras have it. I heard even small ones. Kodak should think of additing this nice filter to the package.

I absolutely hate this camera. I have had this camera for 2 months now and all of the pictures have turned out grainy. Now, there is a purple haze on all of my pictures. Kodak did not help rectify the problem, so I am done using Kodak products. I noticed that some reviewers were able to take decent pictures outdoors, but all of my pictures were of poor quality. I am certain that it is not due to "operator failure," but due to poor craftsmanship. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA. This camera has proved to be a waste of time and money.

I received this camera for Christmas and it is performing well so far. It holds a charge, is incredibly portable/available, and takes nice clear photos. Playing with the different settings is fun, especially the ones for sports and children to avoid motion blurring. I don't use the associated software as the software from our old camera captures the pictures just fine. I can wholeheartedly recommend this simple to use and fairly inexpensive camera.

This is my second Kodak Easy Share camera and I moved up from 5 to 10 megapixels. The difference is astounding in the quality of the picture. I like how easy it is to operate an Easy Share camera. I looked at other cameras but I can pick up any Easy Share and immediately use it. The only difference with this camera is that it doesn't have as nice a lens as my old one and I can see the difference when I zoom in but that is a minor distraction for me. I don't take professional photos, only family, vacation, special events, etc. and it suffices beautifully for those purposes. It is lightweight, compact, and goes everywhere and has the features I need.

I bought this camera after I had broken my Kodak SLR. I was wanting something that would take great pics like my old camera, yet be small enough to carry around. I, of course got both with this camera. Very big viewing screen and the camera itself is very durable. I say it is durable because I had dropped it outside and couldn't find it. I found it a day later under 3 inches of snow- three hours later (after drying out) it fired right up and was ready to go again. Great camera, great purchase!

I have faced the very same problems listed in most reviews. The worst one is the blurry pictures indoor. There is no way to work around this no matter what you do with the light, distance, ISO settings, .... I have sent mine for repair 3 times already, and got a replacement, which is as bad as the original.
I wish I had read some of the negative reviews before I bought this camera. I also bought it because I had good Kodaks in the past.

I am giving this camera 3 stars because the 'right arrow' on the circle pad stopped working after 3 months. Otherwise this is a really nice camera.

Pros:
- Easy to use menus
- Feels very solid in your hand. Well made.
- Focuses quickly and takes pictures quickly
- Takes great 5 megapixel photos!
- Screen is large and clear
- Includes the kodak easy share software
- Cool color!
- Fits nicely in your pocket or purse. Perfect for vacations.
- Video recording works quite well.
- When taking vertical shots the screen automatically adjust the image so that it is not horizontal. This is a VERY nice feature! Not sure what that feature is called but it's cool. :) Pictures stay right side up when you copy them to PC as well.

Cons:
- 'Right arrow' key on the navigation pad stopped working at 3 months.
- 'Left arrow' key on the navigation pad is really hard to press because of screen size.
- You absolutely cannot see the screen during bright sunlight.
- Doesn't do so well on night pictures. Has trouble focusing and takes very grainy pictures. I was so unhappy with my Vegas pictures!
- Pictures are a bit grainy at 8.2 megapixel but it of course doesn't affect your prints. Who actually views pics at 8.2 anyway?
- Viewing screen scratches easily. I recommend a protective cover.

We bought this as a replacement for an older version that didn't survive a dip in the sink (it was actually our fault and not the kids'!). I didn't want a camera with too many buttons and functions, as I use it to take pics of the kids and need to point and shoot quickly before I lose the shot. I haven't had any issues with the camera. It's worked wonderfully from day one. The change from replacing batteries to re-charging it was a great new feature, as was the simplification of the wheel (though I see they've gotten rid of it completely on the newest version). We're considdering this for a gift for my mil, who is hopelessly stuck on her film camera and has minimal computer skills. I do have to agree that bright sunlight ruins your view on the screen, but I found it to be that way on pretty much any digital device. I believe most buyers looking for a good digital camera to invest in will be satisfied.

i read the mom's review of her taking pics of her kids and loving this camera; that is why i wanted a point and shoot. nothing fancy, just wanted to take pictures of my 1 year old. however, no matter what setting i put the camera on or even lowering the megapixels, the pictures came out dark and/or blurry. i even tried changing the flash from auto to other settings. i was really disappointed in this camera. from reading reviews, i guess it's a 50/50 chance

bought in 9/08, since 1/09 when i turn camera on, the start up noise is on, screen is very blurry then it turns off by itself right away. i thought battery had to be replaced, did that, charged it up, still the same. googled the condition, found lots of people have same problem. gotta make time in the next few days to be on the phone to india to get a replacement phone from them. good luck huh?
i'm really mad. should have gotten the exorbitant insurance policy from best buy. will never ever buy kodak again.

We've had to return this for a new one already. The problem is that once the camera is charged, it will only hold a charge for a few days. So if you get out the camera quickly to capture a magical moment--surprise! Nothing happens--nothing. It has to be charged for an hour. THEN, you have to reset the date and time (the camera does not seem to permanently store this.) We did buy the warranty, and I'm about to return it. Caveat emptor...

i shopped around quite a bit, and ended up picking this up for $130 i believe... it has the largest sized screen for the price, and takes great quality pictures. perfect for a college aged student that's on the go all the time, and wants a nice--not super expensive like D40--good looking camera.

Oh my gosh! The entire family loves this camera! I love the way that it takes pictures and videos. It also have song tags which you can put songs to a picture! I purchased a pink digital camera from Office Max but I gave it away to someone who really liked and wanted it. I loved that camera and I couldn't find another one at Office Max so I searched Amazon and lo and behold I found this one and many more that I liked. Amazon have a vast variety to choose from.

this camera takes great pictures,and is compact. the only problem with this camera is it takes 10 to 15 seconds before you can snap another shot. i would definately recomend buying another camera if you have to take pictures quickly. i did not return it because their was a restocking fee.

This is a great digital camera. Takes very good images and is easy to use. However the instructions are skimpy and, although this camera replaced an older Kodak camera, which means I knew something about this make camera, the learning curve was longer than I expected.

Now that I am onto the opreations, I love it!

Here's my backstory: I bought a rather expensive Sony camcorder with photo capabilities thinking "this will help me chronicle my adventures while I'm in Europe." This turned out to be one of the biggest mistakes I have ever made! Despite being such an expensive camcorder, the Hard Drive Disk Sony model took grainy footage and to put a sour cherry on top, the photos were terrible! I returned the piece of crap. Since the $443 camcorder had such crap quality, I thought about going all in. Let's get an HD camcorder, but we all know that requires a lot of money. Fortunately I found a much better alternative. Kodak M1033! I have reviewed footage from this Kodak camera and I it is 10x better than the Sony camcorder that I had. It features 720HD video capabilities and I must say this is an amazing deal. It totally beats an upscale Sony camcorder AND it takes great pictures. Definitely worth it if you're into making decent home movies. If you just want a solid digital camera, you can score with a canon powershot which sells at a price a little cheaper than this. HD video in your pocket can't be beat!

I have several digital cameras, but the cameras I enjoy the most are the Kodaks. I have a C series and just got the M1033 and I love it. The toggle is such a nice change. It really is more convenient than the arrows. I also like the clarity of the dials. My pentax was one of the first digitals and was OK. My Nikon Cool Pix is definitely not a fave. It really wasn't that easy to get clear pics. I would definitely recommend the M1033. The video and audio is really pretty clear. I use it for a lot of close ups in taking pictures of jewelry and I actually don't feel like I am working. It is very easy to also take it along because of its size.

Being a single mom I need an easy camera that gets good quality photos. I found this one EASY to use and the directions when I had time to read them were easy to understand. The photos were good. There may be graininess when you super zoom in and such...but an experienced photographer should know not to expect miracles. Even in a darkroom there will be graininess. It's up to the editing software to correct it when you aren't happy. I like the camera it's easy, good quality, and heck it's pink! My kids are able to use it and so is my mom.

I am going to focus on the HD video capability of this camera. In one word - it takes excellent HD videos!

The videos can be downloaded and played on any modern computer. The included software can edit the HD video. You can Trim the video, join two or more videos and add music to the video.

I purchased my camera just before Christmas and love it. Like another reviewer, I had problems with the majority of my pictures having a grainy look especially when I transferred them to a PC. This was resolved by going to Kodak's website and obtaining help via their live chat session. With the camera in Auto mode press the Menu button and go to the 2nd camera icon (with the + sign). Arrow down to ISO Speed and select ISO 800. I took a picture, transferred it to my PC and the image was very clear (no grainy look). I'm not sure if this is a permanent save. You may have to do this each time the camera is turned off.

This is my third digital camera - the other two are both Sonys. This was purchased to replace the original Sony 3.2 model. I am ecstatic with both the quality of the photographs and the incredible ease of use! It fits easily in the smallest purse or a man's shirt pocket and has features that even my big Sony with a 12x optical zoom doesn't have. I think that the price on this little gem is EXTREMELY reasonable for all the features it has in such a compact little package!

If there was one criticism I have, it's that the software makes no provision for removing the "green-eye" syndrome that you get photographing pets with flash. Other than that, I think it's absolute perfection! GO KODAK!

I bought this camera from Best Buy the day after X-Mas. I got the last one, and I got it for an incredible price, including an extra battery, carring case, and 2G chip.
The pictures are always very clear, even when youre moving. My brother was head banging, and the picture was still clear! I was so surprised!
The only down side is that when you take video, the letter "S" makes you sound like you have a lisp.
I love this camera, and take it everywhere I go. I was definatly not disappointed.

I received this camera for Christmas, and by June it had stopped working. First, it stopped focusing. Then about 1 in 25 pictures would turn up absurdly pixilated. Finally, the small self-timer light next to the flash would not turn off even when the camera itself was off. The battery itself had to be removed for it to go off. I contacted Kodak, and since the camera was still under warranty, I sent it back to get fixed. I just heard back from them that due to "corrosion damage" the camera is not repairable and not covered under warranty. (They were kind enough to offer to return the broken camera to me for $12.95.) I take very good care of my cameras. It NEVER got wet. I never even had it long enough to take it anywhere for it to get wet. I do not store the battery in the camera because I have a rechargeable battery. I cannot stress how incredibly aggravated and disappointed I am. If Amazon.com would let me, I would give this product zero stars.

This is a great camera, especially for the price. I got mine on black Friday for $79.99. It takes great pictures, it's 10.3mp but shoots at 10.1mp. Pictures are crystal clear, it is extremely easy to use, very very slim compact design with a massive screen, video capture is great and records in 480p high definition. The zoom feature is amazing! The pictures are great quality even when zooming all the way in. I was on one side of my yard and my friend was about 20feet away and I used the zoom feature to capture a perfect face shot even from 20 feet away! I am highly impressed with this camera, if you're debating I highly recommend it!

While this camera doesn't have everything, it packs a lot into a little package for a great price. I needed a small camera on a recent trip to PR. I got some great pics. My only beef which I listed in the con section was that the LCD screen turns into a mirror in bright light. I just pointed in the general direction and managed to get great pics anyway.

Pros:
Small size (fit in shirt pocket), image stabilization, good battery life. LCD screen makes an awesome mirror in bright light (see cons). Excellent price for and 8+ megapixel camera especially when compared to models of similar size and features. 18 scenes available for different picture situations. HD Stills and digital image stabilization. Panaromic stiching of three sequential pics. Kodak is always very user friendly and very easy to use right out of the box.

Cons:
No view finder just LCD screen. Can't see LCD screen in bright sunlight, only a good reflection of yourself. No rapid sequence pics like some other kodak models of similar size.

As stated in my title, I have the 8.1MP version. I am writing my review here because my version is not available on Amazon. From what I can see, my camera looks exactly like the 8.2MP version. It has a 2.5in./6.4cm LCD screen. It is also High Definition. There are different mode settings for the flash (auto/off, red eye, fill), focus (close-up/macro, landscape, manual, normal), & drive(self-timer, burst, exposure bracketing, normal). There are several capture modes for the camera including smart scene, which analyzes the scene you are photographing & choses the best settings for that situation. There are other settings that allow for more artistic control over your photos, panoramic views, videos, & more. Overall, this camera takes great pictures & is easy to use.
My camera, which was not purchased through Amazon, came with a shoulder strap, lens cover, USB cable, video cable, cd-rom software, & instruction booklet.
For use with this camera, I also recommend:
KODAK Li-Ion Rapid Battery Charger K8500-C+1 - Battery and charger Li-Ion 1600 mAh

I just got this camera today...I've used it for 2 hours and I'm returning it today. The picture quality is horrible, I compared it with pictures from my old 5 MP camera and the old camera's pictures are better. I doubled checked that I was shooting in 10 MP mood...but 10 MP don't mean anything when the camera lens is so bad.

My old camera was a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX8, this was a great camera because of the Leica lens. I'm going to stick with the same brand, like I should have done in the first place! I'm buying the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3A (it's only $110 at Best Buy).

I am not a pro photographer, but I do enjoy taking pictures and video every chance I can get. I had an Olympus 3x 3mp digital camera that I had been using for a number of years with no complaints except the zoom power. I always wished I had more. I had also been using a JVC camcorder for a number of years with no complaints also, but definately wanted to upgrade to a digital camcorder. I had been checking on digital camcorders for the last year and couldn't quite decide on any one particular brand, I kept seeing pro's and con's for every camera. So when I came across this Kodak Z812IS, it seemed it had everything I had been wishing for, in one unit and at an exceptional price. I checked it out alot and really couldn't find any con's against it so I got it. WOW, it takes amazing pictures, of course, but my biggest surprise was the video capability. I bought an 8g memory card, so I would have plenty of room for both video and pictures. And it definately has a lot of space for both! The first thing I noticed about the video, is the stability. The gel suspended chip technology gives an absolutely exceptional video. It looks as though I am video recording on a tri-pod. Amazing, is the best word I can to describe this camera. All the features it comes with and the advanced technology, you cannot find a better deal for this price range. When you purchase this camera, I recommend at least a 4g or 8g memory card, so you can use the video to the full extent. I also bought the rechargeable batteries and charger. My pictures are sharp, my video is clear and stable with good sound, the software it comes with is easy to use with Windows XP (I don't know about VISTA). I highly recommend this camera, in fact I have three other family members who now want one too.

I'm 62 and had little interest in photography for many years. It was "be in the moment; don't freeze the moment with a camera around your neck". When I was a kid, one of my first jobs was processing Kodacolor one summer to buy a Pentax SLR. Two events broke me off from photography, first I photographed the weddings of several women I would've married myself and second when all my equipment was stolen. That was it for photography.

But being an avid observer of new technology (I bought the first computer ; the first Sony VCR, etc. for a lotta' bucks) and becoming tired of being the sucker I would now wait for the price to come down.

I think I've now triumphed in buying this camera. A device like this twenty years ago would probably have cost a hundred grand or a coupla' thousand four or five years ago.

Every feature I've tried out works surprisingly well (low light, telephoto, panorama, video, etc.) And the thing actually feels like a real camera!

I feel like I'm in "high cotton", "up to date in River City". And I'm a photographer again. 'Think I'll take the day off and go shoot some pictures.

ps., I chose this over the Canon matchup for several reasons. Although Canon has generally represented quality to me, I noticed that a significant number of reviews complained about defects. (In today's global market who know what Brands are doing). The Kodak reviews were awash with enthusiasm. The optical zoom is more powerful and I believe the sensitivity is greater in the Kodak,

I bought this camera to supplement a fuji S5100. Because the fuji is a much larger camera, I was looking for something simple and compact. The Kodak M1063 is compact, but it is not a simple camera. Don't get me wrong, it is very easy to navigate the different functions. What I mean is the camera does much more than I expected it to. Also, the quality of pictures is good as any camera of this type that I have seen.

I like to have a camera with me at all times. I saw the Kodak Z712 in Staples and liked the feel of it. When I found the Kodak camera reviews on Amazon and read about the Z812 IS I decided to give it a try. This camera employs a Schneider-Kruzenach lens. For many years I used Schneider lenses while working in my darkroom and their quality is unsurpassed. The shutter lag is non-existent. This shutter is almost as fast as my Canon DSLR! I've only had my Z812 for a couple of days but I am amazed at the quality. Fast focusing, bright view of both screen and EVF, solid build, useful software (if you have no photo software yet), optional lenses, and optical image stabilization. I like this camera better than my Canon G8. The only thing I'm not too happy about is the use of lithium-ion batteries. They are expensive and don't last as long as I need them to. I bought a Moby lithium CRV3 rechargeable and this should work just fine. 8MP is still enough to make a gorgeous 16x20 print and if you use the Kodak software you can buy prints up to 20x30 at a reasonable price. The Z812 IS is not too bulky or heavy; it should fit nicely into almost any bag, especially a backpack. With a 4Gig SDHC card I can take almost 800 photos at the Fine setting. If you use Standard the number goes up to about 1500! My DSLRs may get lonely sitting in the closet because this is going to quickly turn into my favorite camera. This is not a toy and the price is quite reasonable for all it does. Give it a try.

I replaced my second Nikon Coolpix with this Kodak. Thus far, I am liking it a lot.

The reaction time from pressing the button to the actual shot is fast enough that it captures my 2 and 5 year olds right when I want it to. No facial expressions lost, no photos of only the back of a head or one foot running away.

I will fully admit to using the point and shoot options much more than all the fussy ones. I took a few self portraits on that setting and my husband is enjoying the panorama setting. Both of us have used the video.

My husband bought it for me and I suspect the fact that it had HD video capability was top on his list. I appreciate the ease of use, the large screen and small size that enables me to keep it in my front pocket at all times. I never lose a cute shot that way.

I bought this camera and tried for a week. Do not buy this camera if you gonna use it outdoors. It's almost impossible to see anything on the big lcd screen on a bright day. For indoors low light situations is a okay camera. Movie mode: I can't say I recorded in HD quality because you need the camera dock to view it in your TV. But when transferred the movies to the computer, the quality is not that great and it skips when played back, and I used a 8gb 150x card. The movies in "HD" are limited to 29 minutes and a 8gb card can record about 80 minutes of movie only. After recording a movie 29 minutes non-stop the camera took forever to "process" the information, that's terrible. I returned this piece of junk without hesitation. Do yourself a favor and save your money for better cameras out there.

I ORDERED A KODAK EASYSHARE 1033 DIGITAL CAMERA AND RECEIVED A KODAK 1063 DIGITAL CAMERA. AMAZON WOULD NOT CORRECT THEIR ERROR NOR SEND ME THE CAMERA I ORIGINALLY ORDERED .I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THIS TRANSACTION.
THEY ACCEPTED A RETURN, BUT WOULD NOT RESEND THE CAMERA I ORDERED.

I WOULD NOT CONSIDER PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM THEM.

I really like this camera it is just the right size because i did not want something that was too bulky. I am not quite technologically savvy so I was not aware of the need for a memory card with the purchase of this camera. I did not immediately purchase a memory card which is mandatory with this product so i was not able to get alot out of it without a memory card. Overall quite satisfied it is my very first camera.

This was a great camera for the price it takes amazingly clear pictures haven't really used the blur reduction or the nite settings yet but so far it's made me happy.

I needed a camera for a gift for a 9 year old girl, so it had to not be a toy, easy to use, good quality, and stylish to her. The pink M863 fits the bill. It takes decent pictures. It seems well built. The functions are well laid out, and easy to use. She has no problem downloading the pictures to her computer with the EasyShare software. She is very happy with it. Judging from the results of pictures taken in various conditions, it seems to take good, but not great pictures under most circumstances. All in all, it's a good camera for those on a budget.

I've had a Kodak 6490DX camera for a couple of years now and love it. My only complaint is the blurriness from no image stabilization. It takes excellent pictures. Well, when the Z812IS came out and I started reading the reviews, I couldn't imagine a camera better than the one I already had. My husband bought me the Z812IS for Christmas this year and let me tell you, it blew me away. It is amazing! You can zoom at full distance, it looks blurry on the screen, but when you take the picture, IT'S NOT BLURRY at all! The colors are wonderful (Thanks Kodak!) and bright, rich colors. The pictures are so very clear and sharp. I also love the additional features of this camera. You can crop right on the camera as well as "enhance" or "fix" the picture right on the camera. I've already sold three other people on this camera also. And two of them own recent models of Kodaks. The other one owns a much higher priced different brand camera that she doesn't like. (Paid over $500 for it.) She wants this one also. I know I haven't gotten into the technical aspects of it but everything you read about it is true. It's just honestly a GREAT camera and to me, worth way more than the sale price was. Kodak did a really good job with this one!

My only complaint? You have to buy the rechargeable battery and charger for it but it's worth it if you search a get a good deal on them too. It'd eat up the disposable batteries really fast. Kodak really needs to reconsider including this. Other than that though, I have NO cons of owning this camera only many, many pros! Buy one. It'll be one of the best investments you'll ever make. If you don't throw it around (and buy the padded case to carry it in) it'll last for years! :)
