I am planning to build a new PC in first q next year (2010). I've been shopping for monitor since november... God, it's so painfull. Yes, this HP W2338h and it's brother 2509m are the best on the LCD market. I spent hours in Staples to see how it is for the eyes - amazing. And let me tell you people, if you looking for really cool and rich image quality forget -- FORGET about the cheezy mate screens - even if it has 10.000.000:1 CR - it means nothing - the colors are dead compare to any glossy screen. GLOSSY - is what makes the image stunning, and if some of you are concerned about reflections and stuff, come on... get vertical blinds for God's sake. Obviously I am not going to buy all the components for my new PC in one shot. I am just like any other "hi tech freak", waiting for "gulftown" or "thuban" to hit the shelves, then we'll see...What stops me from buying this monitor or 2509m...It's not LED yet. I don't care about LCD or LED much, only because LED is newer - no, but what I do care about is: 1) LED would definetely look better, because it'd be slimer. 2) it'd be energy efficient and less hazardous. and the last thing which I don't really care about - it'd obviously have a crazy contrast ratio and 2ms response time.So, if you need a stunning image quality right now and you don't care much about energy consumption (this monitor by the way and 2509m are not energy star qualified), then go for it. Because it looks like that this is the best on today's market at the affordable price range.Thanks very much for reading my review.

I will have to say, this is a great monitor. I bought this monitor to go with my new HP-150t desktop computer. I had an older sony LCD monitor which I liked but it was not an HD monitor and my new computer had an HD output so I thought I would go with a matching monitor. My Sony monitor was the older 4x3 aspect ratio and the HP 2159 is the new 16x9 aspect ratio. At first, I didn't like the wide-screen thing when I visited websites as many of them are not set up for wide screen display. It took me a few weeks to get used to it, but now I love the extra space I get on my desktop. This monitor is real plug and play. It has not given me any problems, the display is fantastic. I wish I had sprung for the desktop with a TV tuner but I figured I did not want to sit in front of a PC monitor to watch HD TV and I have a 46-inch HD TV downstairs so I opted to save a few bucks and not bother with the tuner.This monitor has built in speakers but my desktop has external speakers and a subwoofer so I prefer that sound to small speakers in the monitor itself.I would buy this monitor again. It is just a great monitor.

This monitor is a great value. The matte finish is attractive and the screen colors really stand out. I do have to mention that my new monitor is ruined after I removed the identifying sticker at the top of the monitor. I have to agree with S. Francis' comment on this issue and I quote him here, "The glue HP used is so strong that it's left behind when you peel the sticker off. So far I have tried duct tape, WD-40 and Goo Gone and the glue is still there". I particularly liked that he mentioned the quality of the glue was used to build roads. Anyway, if you don't mind a messy finish after removing the sticker then you will be okay. The monitor is highly recommended.

I originally preferred a Dell monitor for my new (late 2009) Mac Mini. However, it went off sale so I found the HP 2009m. I could not be happier.The display is beautiful and bright. I never thought I would like a glossy screen, but I have no problems and the colors on the screen really pop. The glossy black finish around the monitor and the aluminum-looking pedestal are reminiscent of an Apple monitor so it fits in pretty good with current Apple styling.The speakers may not be the highest quality, but with a bit of equalization in iTunes they sound fine to me and I am happy with them. However, if you are an audiophile you won't like them. The volume on the monitor is a little strange (as are all the controls) but I simply leave it at the highest setting and then use the Mac's volume controls.All the documentation I read said the monitor only included a VGA cable. I was prepared to buy a DVI to connect to the mini-DVI adapter included with the Mac Mini. However, to my surprise a regular DVI cable was included. It's listed on the box and all the packaging information so I assume mine was not a fluke and they all include both a VGA and DVI cable.I would happily recommend this monitor to anyone, especially if you are buying a Mac Mini.

I bought this monitor after reading a lot of reviews. I hook it up to my MacBook Pro, and it's gorgeous. I am in no way tech savvy (which is why I'm a Mac person), and it was really easy to hook up. My MacBook Pro actually came with a DVI connector or whatever, so I didn't have to buy anything else. Someone mentioned speakers in the monitor, and I never noticed that if they exist. (again, not tech savvy) I put my laptop in the keyboard drawer of my computer and threaded the wires through the back, so it looks like a sleek desktop now. I used a USB hub so that I only have to plug in one USB cord when I want to go from laptop to desktop. It does kind of suck that the MacBook has to be plugged in for the external displays to work. The biggest issue I have with this is it seems like a lot of heat is constantly coming from the laptop. I try to unplug mine when I'm not using it so it cools down.I am having one major issue that no one else has mentioned, so maybe it's something I'm doing wrong. I don't have a really heavy, sturdy desk, but it's not a piece of crap either. Well, this monitor, i guess because of the tilt feature or something, kind of jiggles when I type. It's like it's reacting to the impact of just a little movement on the top of my desk. I would guess this doesnt happen if your desk is really heavy, but it's really annoying. I have never had any issues with anything else on my desk moving AT ALL from me typing or moving around on it- not even things that are much, much smaller than the monitor. Maybe there's some way for me to tighten it or something. It's not the stand itself that's moving- just the screen.Aside from that, I love this monitor. It is highly reflective, but that's just the con side of a glossy screen- great, sharp graphics with a glare. I dont have any direct light on it, so it hasnt been a problem for me. Since I'm having the "jiggle" issue, I am considering mounting the screen to the wall.

This is a very good option to purchase a 3/pack of HP Ink Cartridges. You get 2 Black and 1 Tricolor and none of the bulky packaging. I think it is a great idea.

I've had this monitor for about 7 months and I love it. I'm a student and use this as an adjunct display w/ my laptop primarily for going over PowerPoint lectures, reading articles, and surfing the web.The monitor is bright and crisp, has zero dead pixels, and the widescreen format comes in handy when I have multiple windows open or when I just want to read a document in super large font to give my eyes a break. The 1600x900 native resolution is not the highest among widescreen monitors out there, but I think it strikes a good balance by giving me the extra space I need without forcing me to squint really heard to read text.As others have said, the built-in speakers aren't great: they have really limited low freq range as you can expect with speakers of this size. Mid and higher ranges sound good to me. One of the reasons I bought this monitor was because I have limited desk space and having built-in speakers was a selling point. This monitor has really met that need for me. I haven't really had any problems with it being too quiet; these speakers can actually get decently loud without distortion.Setup is easy, on-screen menus are straightforward. This monitor is highly recommended.

This monitor is a great value - giving you a large screen with a crystal-clear hi-definition image for a relatively low price. I bought this to go with a new Gateway desktop. The internet looks great, DVDs look great, and high-def TV looks fantastic. I've given this a 5-star review despite the built-in speakers, which are adequate for ordinary TV viewing in a relatively quiet room, but not nearly what you need for enjoying your music collection or internet radio. For the price, though, I didn't expect much of the speakers so I wasn't at all disappointed with this.As someone else mentioned, there aren't any extra USB ports on the monitor, so you can't plug your mouse, keyboard or other peripherals directly into it. With my setup this doesn't matter all all.

Beautiful display, not only visually but also cosmetically. I'm using a new Macbook Pro 13" and is pretty much plug and use. I had a bit of a problem knowing which connection to use. DVI gives digital quality and when paired with a MINI DISPLAY PORT connector this monitor will work with a newer mac. I think the Mini-DVI only works with the older MacBooks. That confusion aside it is a great display so far.If you've got one of the newer aluminum MacBook Pros, it matches almost flawlessly with the aluminum colored plastic and glossy black trim on the display. The colors are bright and rival my mac, though the crispness doesn't compare with the LED display of the laptop. Setup with a mac is easy, essentially just plug and go, but I recommend going into system preferences and using the display setup Apple offers.I haven't tested the speakers since I've got a decent system already and my computer already has decent ones, so I don't need anymore wires. The only thing I noticed that hurt my opinion of the display is watching movies on it. Directly from a DVD it looks fine but when I watched films from my hardrive or iTunes it was a little bit fuzzy and trailed a little in high action portions (possibly a mixture of burned films and expanded display). It is after all only a 60 Hz refresh rate, so nothing too terribly fancy with this one.

First off, the print cartridges were not as advertised. The were not HP cartridges, but re-manufactured cartridges. Contacted seller and they claimed it was Amazon's fault. They did offer me 1/2 refund, and assured me that the cartridges would work fine.I tried replacing the black ink cartridge tonight and the printer would not recognize it. Told me the cartridge in not compatible. Put the old cartridge back is and the printer accepted it.Buyer beware, false advertising and faulty merchandise from this seller.

I received this in a timely amnner. The black ink was a little messy to load, I had black ink on my fingers when I finished loading it. Otherwise, it was a smooth transaction. Had it not been for the messy problem, it would have been a perfect transaction. I would definitely purchase from this seller again!

I traded in my dual 19" monitor set-up and I am very happy.Pros:built-in speakers (when you don't need to listen to music at a loud volume)true high definitionhdmi portstand allows you to place your keyboard on it to clear up desk spacepower button and power indicator on top so it doesn't annoy youswivels and pivotsCons:only has vga and hdmi ports, no dvionly came with the vga cord, no hdmi (Acer comes with all three)lousy one-year warrantyI like it. The only comparable in size and cost is the Acer Computer X233H BD 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor. It's got a three-year warranty and vga, hdmi, and a dvi ports. Also comes with all three cables.I have not compared the two next to each other. If the graphics look as good on the Acer, I'm going to return this HP and get the Acer since it has more ports for better adaptability, more cords so you don't have to spend any money, and a three-year warranty for peace of mind. Also, the Acer has 40000 to 1 contrast ratio vs the HP's 30000 to 1 contrast ratio.I will update when I get to review the Acer.Updated on May 11th, 2009:Well I checked out the Acer X233H and though it is more flexible and have more bang for the buck, this is definitely a nicer monitor performance wise. First of all, the Acer has a flat picture. Less glare but the picture and graphics of the HP really come out at you. They are sharper and crisper than the Acer.I really like the location of the power button on the HP because it is on top and not in front starting at you as a distraction if you are using the monitor at little to low light. I have a very nice back-lit Logitech keyboard and when I type in little to no light, there is no glaring power indicator in front of me.I also think that the stand of the Acer is really weak and though it looks good, is not multi-functional like the HP, where you can store the keyboard, freeing up your desk when you need to use your desk.With that said, I am keeping my HP and not getting the Acer.

i had a 21" CRT for 10 yrs. it was fine, just starting to flicker, but was old tech and weighed 50lbs. i looked for a year for a reasonable flat panel (hoping for a 22" under $200). never did find one with speakers that i liked. then volla! here comes an hp and not just under $200, but $50 less and with speakers. looks great! nice design and nice picture. hp designs, to me, are the pc version of mac. found this at my local ODepot for the same as amazon, without the wait of course.it truly is a plug and play. it came with a cd and i was about to stick it in, when i looked up and everything was working just fine. what a relief! i have xp. the directions say native resolution is 1600x900, but everything was too small. i wanted icons and text sized like my old CRT. so after finally figuring out exactly what 'native resolution' is i tried setting it at the same ratio, but less than the recommended (1280x720). that worked just fine, icons and text are larger; i really don't know what 1600x900 does besides make things smaller. nothing is distorted, so i'm happy.i like the 16:9 ratio, double windows is a plus that i wasn't looking for, but programs like photoshop do allow for more room without the menus getting in the way of the work screen. may have to reconfigure your tool bars on some programs since u will lose height while gaining width.the speakers are fine with me, just what i was looking for. wasnt planning on watching a movie anyways. just wanted to get rid of the external speakers i had to use. the screen is glossy, so the glare can be an issue if your lights reflect at the wrong angles.after using it for a month now, i really dont need a larger screen. i might go up to the 21.5 version if i did. it is so much clearer than the CRT that i guess that makes up for the reduced height, because i see everything fine.a great deal! buy it before hp figures that out and raises the price to $180. which is probably where it could be since the price jumps between the 21.5 and the 23 is only $30, but $80 between the 20" and 21.5".better than anticipated.

I just received my HP 2009m and got it hooked up. I replaced an old 19 inch LCD (Samsung 191t) and was worried about giving up some of the vertical viewing area as compared to the 19 inch LCD. My worry is now gone, the extra horizontal space more than makes up for that. I have poor near vision and was also worried about the smaller icons and fonts. My old 19 inch display was set at 1024x768, the 1600x900 of this display makes things a little smaller but the higher contrast ratio (as compared to my old display) actually makes things easier to read for me. :)The sound is good for listening to news and is plenty loud enough for that. For good sounding tunes I use an i-pod hooked in to my home stereo. Part of the reason I purchased this was to un-clutter my desk (from external speakers).The face of this thing is reflective. When I first hooked it up I was worried that the reflective surface would interfere with the viewing. The actual viewing is great in full room light, no annoying reflections on the screen.I'll post back later if something changes, for now a++++KenEdit added:The viewing surface measures about 9.76" x 17.5", it is about 19.75" diagonal. Good bang for the $.

These cartridges arrived the day after my printer died. I tried to sell them but failed so I sent them back. W****** wanted $39.95 for just one color cartridge so these were a steal! After I bought one at the big box store I was in shock so I found these at Amazon and returned the one to the world's largest retailer!

Printer Carttridge appears to work OK but package received was opened (not sealed). I expected, from the description "Original HP LaserJet 92A Black Print Cartridge in Retail Packaging" that the unit would come sealed in the original package unless it had stated that the package was previously opened.

I am very satisified witht the purchase of this monitor that I have had for approximately a month. The monitor is just the right size for my computer desk and everyone who sees it likes it. The monitor was easy to install and it is plug and play, so I did not have to use the cd that came with it. The monitor colors are very sharp and I am still amazed at how great everything looks when I am on the computer. My husband loves the monitor and stays on the computer forever. I used to stay on my laptop, but now that I have this monitor, I am on the desktop more because I can see everything so vibrantly. I have no complaints, but the built-in speakers are a little low; however, this is no problem to me because I have my own speakers hooked up and they work just fine with the monitor. This is really a quality monitor for the price and would definitely recommend everyone to purchase this monitor. I would just like to say that this is my first review and after receiving this wonderful monitor, I feel good about writing it.

Purchased ink cartridge for my HP printer recently. It's a good product, works fine, but runs dry VERY quickly. The cartridges are very expensive and don't last very long, but you must order them OR buy another printer. I am considering that option.
