This monitor is a great value - giving you a large screen with a crystal-clear hi-definition image for a relatively low price. I bought this to go with a new Gateway desktop. The internet looks great, DVDs look great, and high-def TV looks fantastic. I've given this a 5-star review despite the built-in speakers, which are adequate for ordinary TV viewing in a relatively quiet room, but not nearly what you need for enjoying your music collection or internet radio. For the price, though, I didn't expect much of the speakers so I wasn't at all disappointed with this.As someone else mentioned, there aren't any extra USB ports on the monitor, so you can't plug your mouse, keyboard or other peripherals directly into it. With my setup this doesn't matter all all.

Beautiful display, not only visually but also cosmetically. I'm using a new Macbook Pro 13" and is pretty much plug and use. I had a bit of a problem knowing which connection to use. DVI gives digital quality and when paired with a MINI DISPLAY PORT connector this monitor will work with a newer mac. I think the Mini-DVI only works with the older MacBooks. That confusion aside it is a great display so far.If you've got one of the newer aluminum MacBook Pros, it matches almost flawlessly with the aluminum colored plastic and glossy black trim on the display. The colors are bright and rival my mac, though the crispness doesn't compare with the LED display of the laptop. Setup with a mac is easy, essentially just plug and go, but I recommend going into system preferences and using the display setup Apple offers.I haven't tested the speakers since I've got a decent system already and my computer already has decent ones, so I don't need anymore wires. The only thing I noticed that hurt my opinion of the display is watching movies on it. Directly from a DVD it looks fine but when I watched films from my hardrive or iTunes it was a little bit fuzzy and trailed a little in high action portions (possibly a mixture of burned films and expanded display). It is after all only a 60 Hz refresh rate, so nothing too terribly fancy with this one.

First off, the print cartridges were not as advertised. The were not HP cartridges, but re-manufactured cartridges. Contacted seller and they claimed it was Amazon's fault. They did offer me 1/2 refund, and assured me that the cartridges would work fine.I tried replacing the black ink cartridge tonight and the printer would not recognize it. Told me the cartridge in not compatible. Put the old cartridge back is and the printer accepted it.Buyer beware, false advertising and faulty merchandise from this seller.

I received this in a timely amnner. The black ink was a little messy to load, I had black ink on my fingers when I finished loading it. Otherwise, it was a smooth transaction. Had it not been for the messy problem, it would have been a perfect transaction. I would definitely purchase from this seller again!

I would have gave it five stars but read why I didn't below.Great color, nice and bright display, well made. I traded in my dual 19" monitor set-up and I am very happy.Pros:built-in speakers (when you don't need to listen to music at a loud volume)true high definitionhdmi portstand allows you to place your keyboard on it to clear up desk spacepower button and power indicator on top so it doesn't annoy youswivels and pivotsCons:only has vga and hdmi ports, no dvionly came with the vga cord, no hdmi (Acer comes with all three)lousy one-year warrantyI like it. The only comparable in size and cost is the Acer Computer X233H BD 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor. It's got a three-year warranty and vga, hdmi, and a dvi ports. Also comes with all three cables.I have not compared the two next to each other. If the graphics look as good on the Acer, I'm going to return this HP and get the Acer since it has more ports for better adaptability, more cords so you don't have to spend any money, and a three-year warranty for peace of mind. Also, the Acer has 40000 to 1 contrast ratio vs the HP's 30000 to 1 contrast ratio.I will update when I get to review the Acer.Updated on May 11th, 2009:Well I checked out the Acer X233H and though it is more flexible and have more bang for the buck, this is definitely a nicer monitor performance wise. First of all, the Acer has a flat picture. Less glare but the picture and graphics of the HP really come out at you. They are sharper and crisper than the Acer.I really like the location of the power button on the HP because it is on top and not in front starting at you as a distraction if you are using the monitor at little to low light. I have a very nice back-lit Logitech keyboard and when I type in little to no light, there is no glaring power indicator in front of me.I also think that the stand of the Acer is really weak and though it looks good, is not multi-functional like the HP, where you can store the keyboard, freeing up your desk when you need to use your desk.With that said, I am keeping my HP and not getting the Acer.

i had a 21" CRT for 10 yrs. it was fine, just starting to flicker, but was old tech and weighed 50lbs. i looked for a year for a reasonable flat panel (hoping for a 22" under $200). never did find one with speakers that i liked. then volla! here comes an hp and not just under $200, but $50 less and with speakers. looks great! nice design and nice picture. hp designs, to me, are the pc version of mac. found this at my local ODepot for the same as amazon, without the wait of course.it truly is a plug and play. it came with a cd and i was about to stick it in, when i looked up and everything was working just fine. what a relief! i have xp. the directions say native resolution is 1600x900, but everything was too small. i wanted icons and text sized like my old CRT. so after finally figuring out exactly what 'native resolution' is i tried setting it at the same ratio, but less than the recommended (1280x720). that worked just fine, icons and text are larger; i really don't know what 1600x900 does besides make things smaller. nothing is distorted, so i'm happy.i like the 16:9 ratio, double windows is a plus that i wasn't looking for, but programs like photoshop do allow for more room without the menus getting in the way of the work screen. may have to reconfigure your tool bars on some programs since u will lose height while gaining width.the speakers are fine with me, just what i was looking for. wasnt planning on watching a movie anyways. just wanted to get rid of the external speakers i had to use. the screen is glossy, so the glare can be an issue if your lights reflect at the wrong angles.after using it for a month now, i really dont need a larger screen. i might go up to the 21.5 version if i did. it is so much clearer than the CRT that i guess that makes up for the reduced height, because i see everything fine.a great deal! buy it before hp figures that out and raises the price to $180. which is probably where it could be since the price jumps between the 21.5 and the 23 is only $30, but $80 between the 20" and 21.5".better than anticipated.

I just received my HP 2009m and got it hooked up. I replaced an old 19 inch LCD (Samsung 191t) and was worried about giving up some of the vertical viewing area as compared to the 19 inch LCD. My worry is now gone, the extra horizontal space more than makes up for that. I have poor near vision and was also worried about the smaller icons and fonts. My old 19 inch display was set at 1024x768, the 1600x900 of this display makes things a little smaller but the higher contrast ratio (as compared to my old display) actually makes things easier to read for me. :)The sound is good for listening to news and is plenty loud enough for that. For good sounding tunes I use an i-pod hooked in to my home stereo. Part of the reason I purchased this was to un-clutter my desk (from external speakers).The face of this thing is reflective. When I first hooked it up I was worried that the reflective surface would interfere with the viewing. The actual viewing is great in full room light, no annoying reflections on the screen.I'll post back later if something changes, for now a++++KenEdit added:The viewing surface measures about 9.76" x 17.5", it is about 19.75" diagonal. Good bang for the $.

These cartridges arrived the day after my printer died. I tried to sell them but failed so I sent them back. W****** wanted $39.95 for just one color cartridge so these were a steal! After I bought one at the big box store I was in shock so I found these at Amazon and returned the one to the world's largest retailer!

Printer Carttridge appears to work OK but package received was opened (not sealed). I expected, from the description "Original HP LaserJet 92A Black Print Cartridge in Retail Packaging" that the unit would come sealed in the original package unless it had stated that the package was previously opened.

I am very satisified witht the purchase of this monitor that I have had for approximately a month. The monitor is just the right size for my computer desk and everyone who sees it likes it. The monitor was easy to install and it is plug and play, so I did not have to use the cd that came with it. The monitor colors are very sharp and I am still amazed at how great everything looks when I am on the computer. My husband loves the monitor and stays on the computer forever. I used to stay on my laptop, but now that I have this monitor, I am on the desktop more because I can see everything so vibrantly. I have no complaints, but the built-in speakers are a little low; however, this is no problem to me because I have my own speakers hooked up and they work just fine with the monitor. This is really a quality monitor for the price and would definitely recommend everyone to purchase this monitor. I would just like to say that this is my first review and after receiving this wonderful monitor, I feel good about writing it.

Purchased ink cartridge for my HP printer recently. It's a good product, works fine, but runs dry VERY quickly. The cartridges are very expensive and don't last very long, but you must order them OR buy another printer. I am considering that option.

This is a great monitor, at an amazing price. It arrived in three days and was well packaged. I like that it adjusts automatically and has a vivid display with no glare as I used to have on my previous monitor. It's designed so that you can push your keyboard under it onto its base when not in use. The built-in speakers give good sound. I'm very satisfied.

I ordered a HP 56 ink cartridge and got a no name brand refurbished or whatever they call it - was not what I ordered. I had to request they send me a shipping label as I did not need to pay for shipping. They sent me that thru e-mail and said they had since "pulled" the ad on Amazon.

For the price, I dont believe you can get a better monitor. I looked at many of them before buying, and started out wanting a wide screen monitor. They were alot more than I paid for this monitor, and I dont regret this one at all. I get excellent picture quality, great video quality, and pictures look amazing on it. Would definitely recommend to others.

I needed a monitor for my new HP desktop, and wanted a high definition 20" widescreen. I chose this one, mainly because of cost and brand. Initially I wasn't too impressed by the sharpness of the picture, or the general look of the colors, but after I set the monitor at the optimum resolution of 1600 x 900, and color calibrated it, things got better. Be sure to check the HP website to make sure you have the latest drivers.The built-in speakers are a nice feature, but the output level is very low. For any serious listening you will need to get some external speakers. You can adjust the viewing angle, but not the height of the monitor. The setting adjustment buttons are located along the bottom of the front edge of the monitor, hidden from view. This works esthetically, but a clunky menu design makes it a bit of an adventure adjusting the settings.Widescreen movies in particular, look more impressive on a wider screen, although the image quality and resolution of this monitor is like most other computer monitors, vastly inferior to that of a typical television for viewing DVD's. Working on documents on the widescreen is very nice, especially if you are nearsighted or presbyopic, and have trouble making out text. Just crank the zoom up. Many webpages display better on a widescreen, you still have to pan around, but not as much. You have more room to work in applications like Photoshop, where saving a few keystrokes here and there, can add up and be significant over time.Even with a few shortcomings, this is a very nice unit, with very good performance. Competitively priced, I have no reservations in recommending it.

When I replaced my old CRT with this flat screen monitor, the temperature in my home office went down 3 degrees! I didn't realize how much heat that old unit was generating. I keep a digital clock with date, plus indoor and outdoor temperature on my desk, so I was very aware of the instant change with the new monitor.Of course, I like having more space on my desk, too, and more space on this generous screen for my various activities. As my eyes have gotten older, the mid-distance view can be troublesome, so being able to increase font size in various programs and still see the whole page, or multiple pages, really helps. I also like having my Google desktop sidebar active on the screen, which I can now do without compromising the space available for my other work.All in all, I'm very pleased with this monitor. The colors are clear and bright, the focus is sharp and it's easily adjustable to personal preference. It's easy on the eyes and there is no noticeable flicker. I had to ratchet up my CRT to a very high refresh rate because I could see the flicker at lower rates, which made me feel queasy. I didn't have to adjust this monitor at all. I was almost eager for my CRT to give out because I wanted to upgrade to a flat panel monitor to gain more desk space, but if I'd known how much better this unit is in multiple ways, I'd have replaced that old power hog much sooner. Highly recommended.

I bought one of these as a "refurb" (aka, de-badged overstock by a company called TS) and it's the best 22 inch monitor money can buy.So far in the 3 years I've owned mine, it has not given me any dead pixels, is viewable in the light, and just looks dead sexy on my desk. HP does one thing right, and it's displays.The only drawback with these monitors is that I don't have two.

I bought this monitor to replace my old 17" bulky monitor and it is GREAT! The picture quality is excellent! I often work on family & friends computers so I have just ordered a second monitor. It is very lightweight and works without having to install any software. I plan to use the current monitor with my desktop and plan to use the second monitor with my laptop since this monitor is much bigger. Then when I have to work on other people's computer, I can just borrow the monitor from my laptop. :-) I haven't used the built-in speakers yet.

Basically, picking this monitor or not boils down to this simple question:"Do you prefer a matte or glossy screen?"If the answer is matte, look elsewhere. If the answer is glossy, there hardly a better choice imo considering the price factor (if 23 inch size suits you, of course). The matte vs glossy debate is a matter of personal preferences, so further discussion on this subject isn't needed.Colors & contrast is great, without the over-saturation I've seen on some models like the Dell 2408WFP (on all applications that don't support color management). No burned pixels or backlight bleeding either.I use this monitor for both a Mac Mini & a Windows Vista desktop. This monitor has only one HDMI input (if you don't use VGA), so I have to use an HDMI switchbox (20$). At least one DVI input would've been appreciated.I've always used 16:10 traditional PC widescreen monitors (either 1680x1050 or 1920 x 1200), so I was initially scared of switching to a TV-like 1920 x 1080 resolution. Turns out there's basically no noticeable change. It's even better now because all 16:9 footage completely fills the PC screen (as expected, of course).On Mac OS there's some wierd bug, because display settings doesn't let you pick the proper resolution for this screen. I only have the option to pick "1920 x 1080 (interlaced)" which gives you a VERY VERY bad distorted image. I fixed it by installing a 3rd party utility called SwitchResX, but this is Apple's fault, not HP's. So Mac users, with this monitor yes you can get the native 1920 x 1080 resolution without needing to purchase an expensive adapter dual-dvi cable.

I recently purchased two of these to go with my existing monitor to do Eyefinity. It works great because it already has a DisplayPort. There are not many 22" LCD's with a displayport, its either this one or the one from Dell. The colors are vibrant on this monitor and the OSD works really well. There are plenty of options for you to tinker with. The stand is also great, it lets you rotate, tilt, swivel...basically you can almost turn the monitor in any direction. The stand is removable as well and can be mounted via VESA mount. If you're planning on doing an eyefinity set up with three 22" monitors, these are the monitors to get. I know 230 is a lot to pay for a 22 inch, but you are saving the 100 dollars from not having to buy the active displayport adapter. I know they are not IPS panels, but I've seen the P2210's, these are better.

I'm very happy that I bought this one!Great deal for a monitor as nice as this one. Beautiful image quality. I love the wide screen, it makes it easier to do things like have open multiple windows at the same time when working with multiple files/applications. Setting it up to work with my old desktop PC was quick and easy. The on/off button under the lower right part of the screen frame lights up a pretty blue color while the screen is on. When the computer is on standby and the screen is off, that light changes to a less bright orange color.Plus, I bought this monitor to use with a HP Pavilion 522n desktop PC that didn't play sound because it wouldn't recognize the speakers at all after we re-installed Windows XP on it (re-installed Windows XP with boot CD that did NOT come with the PC; couldn't find some unknown drivers after re-install), but now I have sound on that PC again because this monitor also plays sound through it!

Excellent monitor for the price, fits perfectly on the desk in my workspace. As others mentioned, the built-in speakers aren't of the best quality but are perfectly suitable for listening to music while working or playing a computer game. Haven't watched any movies yet, but am sure I could do so without many complaints. Besides, I bought the monitor for the quality of screen rather than speakers (I kind of view them as a perk since it allows for more room on my desk).

I'm on my third HP laptop/PC system. Generally my purchases have been problem-free, which is why I continued to go back to HP. However, this monitor -- which I am using with the Pavilion 6240 -- has been a problem.One issue is the integrated speakers, which are weak and lack sound volume & quality, imo.The second issue is more troubling. The screen picture always needs adjustment, especially after reboots and system changes/tweaks. The picture reverts to a horizontal picture that is slightly off-screen (horizontal right) and an off-kilter clocked image. The image issues are noticeable and require a manual fix, which are some combination of factory resets and auto-adjustment of 1, 2 or 3 clicks. What the exact combination is ... who knows? The combination that works changes from day to day. This is such an irritant.The image control problem with this monitor is well-known. I just wish I knew about it before making the purchase. I can't wait to replace this monitor, and I will think twice before purchasing HP again.

I ordered 4 of these monitors to upgrade my customer service department from 17". The immediate feedback was all positive from the users, they love the image size and clarity.Installation is not quite plug-and-play, the monitor works out of the box but the screen resolution did not show up in windows xp, so you're forced to initially use it in a stretched mode. Drivers come on a cd, need to be installed and machine rebooted. In an office environment this means logging off the user for a 5-10 minute install, not a big deal.The screen is highly reflective so there is some glare. The stand seems solid but the buttons are all at the edge so pressing them sends the monitor into a serious wobble.The built-in speakers are hidden and sound good. I can't comment on how the monitors would work for high end use, we just need to display spreadsheets and web pages related to business, and for the price it's a great deal.

I finally replaced my CRT monitor with this LCD wide-screen monitor.I was VERY pleased at how easy it was to set up. And I was pleasantly surprised to see how much more I could see on those many websites which are set up for a wide screen. If you have a "square" monitor now, be warned that the height of a new wide-screen model may not be more than your current monitor.I was sorry I did not get the slightly larger version. (I had measured carefully, and made a conscious choice to go slightly smaller, but if I had it to do over again, I'd get the larger one!)Very nice looking. It tilts. I don't notice any reflections on the screen, in spite of having both a window directly opposite the screen, and ceiling lights above and in front of the screen.Disappointments were that the contrast (or maybe the depth of color?) seemed less than with my CRT. I fiddled around to get larger icons. In the end, I also gave up on using any picture as background on the desktop and went for a plain blue screen, which made the icons easier to see.The other reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the limited amount of physical adjustment to the screen. The most notable lack is the inability to raise or lower it. Frankly, the tilt adjustment is enough for me (and you ARE supposed to look DOWN at your monitor), but some might find it frustrating.This monitor did what I wanted. It freed up desk space and is much easier for me to move by myself, without help. Overall, a winner.

This monitor is great for the price and setup was super easy. It's nothing really fancy but it has a great picture and I don't do anything special on my computer that would require me to have a high-end monitor. The size is great for watching DVDs or video online, although it can be a little awkward for web browsing. I have separate speakers so I haven't heard the sound from the monitor's speakers. Good purchase!

A good packaging value, and a good source for older printers, whose ink may no longer be available at bigbox stores. I was supposed to get free shipping, which would have made this a great bargain purchase, but the vendor refused; it still was comparable in price to what I could have purchased locally.

The product description for the HP 2009M is a bit misleading. The Briteview technology doesn't really "reduce glare." On the contrary, the new fetish with LCD manufacturers now is to go with a glossy screen that ostensibly creates vibrant colors. That's fine if you want a video monitor. But if you do word-processing or any kind of text reading on your computer, these glossy screens are murder on the eyes.Per HP's site, the HP 2009F version of this LCD screen does not come with the Briteview technology, so it's probably the matte screen I really wanted, but unfortunately Amazon doesn't carry that model.I don't know how other people feel about this, but I've hated the shiny LCD screen since it first came out. I'm not sure how it "enhances clarity" if the high-gloss screen makes you squint.

I replaced my failing 19" DCL monitor which was a good buy five years ago. I had some concerns buying the HP 2009, mostly due to the low price for a monitor with built in speakers. I was really surprised when I received it and within minutes had it hooked up and ready to use. The picture quality is outstanding and exceeds my hopes of getting a great monitor for a great price. For the price, I can not truly find any down side to this unit. I strongly recommend this Monitor for day to day use as well as gaming. Amazon delivered the new monitor in a few days and with free shipping. Works for me!!
