I am always skeptical about buying anything HP, ever since I bought a laptop from them a few years ago that had to be returned multiple times, forcing me to experience first hand one of the most atrocious excuses for customer service I have ever encountered in my entire life. That being said, when I came home from work days ago and saw this shipment sitting on my porch underneath my doormat, I was overcome with feelings of apprehension, excitement, and confusion - the confusion resulting from the fact that I just found a 25 inch monitor sitting under my doormat. About as inconspicuous as a guy hiding by putting a lampshade over his head, I couldn't tell if the shipping company was trying to be cautious or funny. Either way, I found it amusing, and since my screen didn't end up having a shoe-sized hole in the screen, I can still laugh about it.Anyways, I took the thing out of the box and the first thing I thought was "wow, this thing looks VERY nice!" Then as I assembled the stand and saw the monitor was not perfectly perpendicular with it, but instead had a forward lean, I was slightly bummed and immediately began searching online for a way to adjust it - until I realized later you do so by merely pushing it. It's not the greatest adjustment in the world, but it works. On top of that, the stand is mighty sturdy. No swivel or anything, but I'll trade that for solid interlocking steel any day. Then came the scariest part - actually turning it on. Having output my laptop to my TV via HDMI in the past and NEVER being able to get the screen to perfectly match up (always part of it ends up being cropped), that was a concern, as well as the issue of dead pixels, which I fear with any product I buy with an LCD screen and have had some bad luck with in the past - most notably with my HP laptop. As I turned my laptop on and the signal output to this screen, I was absolutely floored. Not only did the image fit perfectly, but it looked fricken insane - almost sarcastically good, to the point where I literally had to ask myself, "really, are you kidding me?!", easily trumping anything I have ever had in my house, even my coveted Samsung 52" LCD. Seconds later, total elation transformed into total disappointment, as I began to find a lot of specs on the screen which appeared to be dead pixels. I thought to myself, "you know, this thing is so huge and so remarkably clear, ever getting one without a single dead pixel is probably a manufacturing impossibility, and if I return it for another, I can't even imagine it being much better than this, so maybe I'll just put up with these dead pixels." Semi-content, yet desperate to nullify my electronics OCD, I decided to get out a microfiber cloth and go over the screen, hoping that these weren't dead pixels, but merely specs of dust. Unfortunately, that was not the case.Wait did I say unfortunately? Because what I meant to say was super FORTUNATELY that was EXACTLY the case! This thing, with an image overwhelming enough to nearly facilitate a coexistence between myself and dead pixels, which in itself is borderline miraculous, actually turned out to be pixel free. Now completely 100% convinced I was keeping this, I attempted to adjust a what already appeared to be perfect picture. After screwing around for nearly an hour, I ultimately ended up turning the brightness down from 90 to 30. That's it. I recall reading from others things about adjustments being needed, etc, but the settings on this thing were flawless for me, right out of the box. In fact, even me turning the brightness down was just a precautionary measure - I want to minimize the possibility of going blind because I know I'm going to be glued to this thing. In summary: great price, huge size, remarkable picture, solid design, zero dead pixels, HDMI input - how can you NOT give this 5 stars? I haven't even taken the plastic off of it yet and it still looks nice enough to display. I almost went with a similarly priced ViewSonic, but at the last second decided to spend a couple of bucks more and go with this one. I don't even remember why, but I'm glad I did; the only possible way I could imagine something being better is if it spit out gold coins. To say my expectations were completely blown out of the water would be an understatement. HP has had their issues, but I definitely have to give them credit for this one. In fact, it's almost kind of a shame - when I see something this great, HP proves it is indeed more than capable of making a fantastic product. Unfortunately, their infamous reputation for sub par customer service has detracted from their overall product image. People are so scared they are going to get a defect that inevitably forces them to deal with HP customer service at some point that they go into the purchase with ultra low expectations or worse yet avoid the brand all together and opt elsewhere. It definitely makes for some relentlessly frustrating (yet often anticipated) t

I've been on the hunt for a good reasonably-priced LED monitor for a while (I won't start on this...), something that I will find to my satisfaction in its features and picture quality. I think I've found it. I mainly came to the decision based off the rating ratios, and with the knowledge that even highly-rated items can sometimes lead to disappointment. This one seemed to have the highest proportion of 5-star ratings, and it did have much of the features I was looking for: LED, >23", GLOSSY, few complaints about color and viewing angle, and high customer satisfaction based on ratings. There are actually very few LED monitors out there that are glossy, and I'm so glad this one is a glossy screen. I'll let you know that on my initial purchase, I was sent a unit that was somewhat of a disappointment. The screen overall looked good, but for some reason, the contrast at the top appeared to be darker than the contrast on the lower half the screen. This is ASIDE from the usual TN monitor viewing angle issues that usually has to do with color. Interestingly, the contrast issue was such that the top did also produce a more pinkish tint. It was kind of annoying even sitting 5 feet away at eye-level. I queried several reviewers and looked through what customers have noted, and it didn't seem like anyone had this problem. Some also reported pretty even colors throughout when sitting in front. I gave it a shot and had it exchanged, without any clue if the next unit would have the same issue (e.g., was it just me who was picky?). Lo and behold, my 2nd unit looks more like the one people are giving 5 stars! The contrast top to bottom is MUCH more even, without that pink tint at the top, and the whites look VERY GOOD throughtout the screen, much improved form the last unit. (Currently? The white appears 95-98% even across the screen at 4 feet away or more, and one may detect an extremely subtle pinch of off-white/yellow if you sit closer or if you scrutinize the screen for 1 minute). Unfortunately, this means that not all units are made the same, but I'm glad I finally ended up with a unit consistent with reviews AND satisfies my expectations for a monitor in this price range. So here I go with an outline of my review:PROS- Excellent screen size for daily student use. I can sit back much further with less strain on my eyes and posture while still getting great viewing range at eye-level. Given that the resolution is 1080p, 23" might be good for DPI, but 23" is slightly on the smaller range, and I wanted a larger screen size coming off of my 21" previously. 27" would have been a good size, but then DPI would have been less attractive. It's a delicate balance here, and 25" is JUST right, for me.- Excellent contrast and brightness. I use about 80% and 80%. For reported 250 cd/m2 on this screen, even 80/80 is brighter than my "300 cd/m2" of my Dell Studio XPS 16 screen (which inspired me to find LED monitors).- Very good viewing angles for its class. TFT-TN monitors will always suffer the same issues, but not all suffer the same extent. I've definitely seen many models/many different brands that have varying degrees of viewing angle satisfaction. Yes, if you lean off center side to side, the further end will start to have a light yellow tint. But let's say you are watching a film/video, and u stand maybe off to the side a bit--you can still see what is going on and you may not even notice much distortion in color/contrast unless you really stare at the screen with scrutiny as you come to the center. If it hasn't bothered me, I don't think it will bother most users who are buying monitors of this class. Believe me, I've seen pretty bad ones.- White is more white, black is more black. The "LED white" is one of the main reasons to upgrade from a regular LCD monitor. The white is very good especially when you are on center at least 4 feet away. The black is a pure, deep black and smooth and consistent throughout the screen. No backlight bleeding, by the way! Makes black-background webpages and movies very neat to look at.- Excellent color representation for its class. As you may know, TFT-TN monitors will still have the issue with viewing angles. On center, the left and right are pretty symmetrical and similar/same as the center. Top to bottom, with colors that are not back, you will notice a gradual gradation of color as you scan top-to-bottom, but that is typical, and the issue is actually less on this monitor than on many others I've seen. Only IPS monitors can resolve this, if you're really demanding that. I'm not really complaining. :)- Sharp and crisp. Text at 80% contrast and 80% brightness is excellent. That's all.- Easy-to-use buttons. The buttons are actually located on the underside of the screen with labels facing you. The functionality is pretty easy to figure out and not complicated. There's a function to turn off the Power light if you choose to, but I like to keep it on, as it has a nice neon-teal color to it. Wh

Where is the 6 star button? lol. This model is the most exceptional $500 laptop on the market, bar none.I buy 40 or 50 laptops per year and tweak them up for friends.I live in the Carribean and it is cheaper to import and pay the freight & taxes than to buy from our local stores, plus the selection is greater on the internet. So that is the background of my knowledge about what constitutes a good and/or a bad laptop. As you may have noticed, this page is rather short on details about the model, so here are the important ones that come to mind. The unit has a cover and inside keyboard plate/palm rest, made out of medium silver coloured brushed aluminum. It is one of the handsomest machines I have ever seen and is a lot more solid than any $500 plastic laptop. It has an Intel Sandy Bridge i3 2310m CPU. The Sandy Bridge processors have the graphics (GPU) on the chip, thus eliminating the need for imbedded graphics on the motherboard. GPU's are responsible for the greatest amount of heat and destruction in a laptop and to eliminate the imbedded type, means motherboards that may last virtually forever. The CPU itself has approximately double the power of the average non iCore CPU on the market. The unit has 2 gigs of ram which would be considered too little by most people, but it is actually more than enough for 95% of the users. This model includes a virtual PC that runs XP and if you plan on using it, or Photoshop, or you do video rendering, then you will want to bump up the ram by one more gig, which is all the OS can understand, as it is 32 bit.The 320 gig hard drive is a 7200 rpm version which gives a good solid 50% more hard drive performance than its 5400 rpm counterparts that commonly come in laptops. The downside would be that it would create more heat and draw more power thus less battery life, yet this machine not only runs cooler than most, but you could even squeeze 5 hours out of the battery and get a good solid 3 1/2 hours, using it any way you please, except if you run video which pretty much halves your battery life. The keyboard appeals to me, is very resilient, feels like it would withstand many years of typing without falling apart, and the big bonus is that it is liquid resistant with actual drains below. One of the best features is the matte screen. Not only do you eliminate reflections from lights and/or daylight, but a matte screen is easier on the eyes and you can work all day on it without the eye fatigue from glossy screens. Some folks would argue that a glossy screen can produce more vivid and accurate colours, and that may even be true, although I haven't noticed the difference. The laptop includes 3 normal USB ports, plus one hi speed USB3, as well as HDMI out, VGA out, Speaker out and microphone in, an SD card reader, an Ethernet port, DVD burner, Bluetooth, stereo microphones, one of the best webcams I have ever seen, a fingerprint reader, a pair of average speakers with good volume and a couple of mystery ports for "who knows what".The amount of useful software is surprising, specially if security is important to you.The machine is so powerful, that you will not feel any slowdown when you install a decent anti virus program like AVG or Avira. You have to (of course) first remove the junky anti virus program that comes with it.Have you ever seen a 16 inch laptop with aluminum build, this many features and so much power for $500 US? Not a chance, not even close....................................................................................Here is a copy of an email between myself and some of my techie friends, with regards to Intel Sandy Bridge processors and this Probook...........................................................................................................It didn't occur to me at first that the graphics being on the Sandy Bridge chips, meant no more cooking laptop mobos to death with the heat exuded by the imbedded graphics portion.Dead motherboards equals the end of a laptop, as the replacement mobos cost 80% of the price of the machine, and that's without tax, shipping, or installation.Buying a new laptop makes more sense. When I first tested the 3D graphics from a Sandy Bridge processor, I found them rather ordinary, maybe even a bit less than those standard imbedded Intel HD graphics, so I wasn't too excited. As I was playing with a new Probook 4530 today with a Sandy Bridge i3 2310m, I noticed that despite the less than stellar results from my outdated Passmark benchmarking system that can't even test the new iCore CPU's (it scores them at half the published results), I saw the Win Index 3D score at 6.1.Now that's higher than my Lenovo AIO which plays games in a minor way, that is to say, it's just capable but not much more than that.Anyhow, the only true test would be to load up a big game and see what happens.I had previously tried Need for Speed's Shift game on an iCore HP G62 with an i3 370m (scores 2218 on Passmark) with 4 gigs of ram and imbedded Intel HD g

Плохо

The laptop itself isn't too bad. When I first received it, I thought it had too much bloatware (expected with HP) and that it could've been a bit faster (both the OS and Internet Explorer are about as fast as my '07 Acer Aspire with Vista). Still, it came preloaded with some programs I'd need (pdf reader, flash, word, etc.) and it did what it was supposed to do reliably, so I would've given it a 4-5 star rating. HOWEVER, not even 3 weeks after receiving my notebook, I turn it on and get a DOS screen saying "Start-up failed." I then have to call HP's help center to receive support from people that I honestly think can barely understand me at times (and vice versa). They send me the OS disk (does not come with comp, fyi) which I use to no avail. After running HP's system diagnostics (built into computer), I find out that there's something wrong with the hard-disk. I reseat it and still, Windows is unable to boot. This of course means either the hard-disk or motherboard is physically non-functioning (thanks HP). Despite my concerns against it, I end up having to send my computer in for repair. HP is not affiliated with any computer service companies near me that work on consumer/non-business pc's. To HP's credit, they sent me a shipping box and label quickly, free of charge. The issue was fixed within a day of me sending my notebook and shipped back immediately after service to arrive at my house the next day. I end up missing the first delivery attempt (didn't expect it back that fast) so I have to wait the weekend for the next delivery. But, the next delivery never came. After a few days I call FEDEX, and they inform me that my package is MISSING. I end up going through tons of trouble with them, including an ironic twist where they try to tell me that they never received the package from HP (Door-tag number and tracking brought that argument to an end, though). After I finally get Fedex to admit their wrongdoing AND that they'll compensate me (through HP), I call HP and try to file a claim like I'm supposed to. Once again, the pseudo-language barrier made things that much more tedious. In the end, I was supposed to be called after a few days by a "higher-up" agent who'd handle my case. Nobody ever called. I eventually end up calling them again to receive basically the same response: they will deal with Fedex, but I'll have to speak with a case worker who should be calling me in about a week. Great. I'm also told that it will probably take "a lot of weeks" for me to talk with HP about a replacement because of how long it will take Fedex and HP to work things out; Fedex will probably be compensating HP directly, so I will still have to deal with HP about my compensation. And, given the amount of run-around I've been getting, I'm not even sure if I'll ever be compensated. It's already been 3 weeks since I started dealing with this. At this point I'd just get a refund if I could. I wanted to give a more positive review, but the malfunctioning hardware plus the lengthy amount of time I've spent dealing with HP and Fedex have me feeling nothing but regret for buying this notebook. I was already wary of HP products, but now, I'm not sure if I'll be using HP in the future. And, btw, I'm DEFINITELY done with Fedex.UPDATE: OK, have been meaning to update this for a long time, but never did. To the commenters, yes, I do realize that HP did not manufacture the hard-drive; however, they did install a defective piece of hardware into one of their products, which is their fault and ultimately reflects upon them. I actually addressed a lot of these concerns in a follow-up MONTHS ago, but I could not send my comment through for some reason. Anyway, got my laptop back at the end of Sept. (I think that's ~7wks after identifying the prob., if you were wondering). It has been working fine (typing on it now). In my failed follow-up, I said I'd bump up my rating from 1 star to 3 once I got compensated. Done. I really have no further complaints. I'm leaving my original post up because I feel it's a more candid account of what I was dealing with at the time. And, just for the record, I do like this laptop.

This is my first try at LED display monitors. My 5 year old Samsung was getting a bit dim, so after reading a lot of reviews and looking at many monitors in stores, my first choice was the top rated Samsung BX2450. Unfortunately, there were too many problems with that monitor: The display was slightly tilted to one side on its stand, with the right edge about 1/4" lower than the left; no adjustable viewing angle; shaky stand; overly sensitive control buttons; and a very pronounced 'sweet spot' for viewing. So I sent it back. I read about the HP2511x on-line, and ordered it from Amazon to try out.Mechanically, the HP is far superior to the Samsung - easy assembly, secure fit of parts; optional wall mounting kit; clear instructions. The base is adjustable for tilt, but not for height. The control buttons are very functional and have a nice tactile feedback, unlike the Samsung. The four presets for movies, text, photos, and gaming are pretty useful. The menu system is intuitive, and it is easy to adjust the brightness down to 50 - the screen was much too bright for my tastes when it was unpacked. For black text on a white background, image quality is very good, especially when compared side-by-side with my old fluorescent tube backlit Samsung. Text is very clear and sharp, with no ghosting or color fringing on the edges. Even running the text at 150% magnification as default text size in IE7 it is superior to the old non-LED monitor. The black background screen on start up/boot is uniformly deep black, with only a slight amount of backlight bleed along the bottom edge. White background screens are bright and mostly pretty uniform. However, unlike the old non-LED Samsung, but like the LED Samsung BX2450, the HP has viewing angle issues, which are especially noticable on white background screens. They are not as bad as the Samsung, and the sweet spot for viewing is more forgiving. But when the monitor is on the desk at the ergonomically recommended height relative to your eyes, the bottom of the screen has a blue cast, and the icons on IE7 task bar have brighter blues and washed out yellows, while the top of the screen has a much warmer look, especially with a white background. Standing at the desk while talking on the phone and reaching down to type something, the white background becomes agua, and the text is difficult to read.Likewise, moving your head more than a couple inches sideways from the screen center will make the monitor appear warmer at the edge you are moving from, and cooler at the edge you are moving towards. Again, it is nowhere nearly as pronounced as the Samsung, but still noticeable. The only solution I have found is to elevate the monitor 2+ inches above the desk. This places the center of the screen at eye level, and improves the color and tint issues at the bottom of the screen. It is not ideal, but much improved for image quality. What this means long-term for my back and neck remains to be seen.I have an ASUS laptop with LED that is even worse as far as this sweet spot effect, and have looked at a number of LED monitors in stores, and have concluded that this seems to be a characteristic of LED monitors - better in some than others. It is interesting to note that at 3 different stores, the LED monitors were all at eye level or above, while the non-LED models were usually below eye level. With movies or HDTV input from my tuner card the above issue is not noticeable, probably because I am not moving my head as much as when I am using text and looking at reference books, writing notes, or answering the phones. Movies/TV are very decent picture quality, with just a slight color saturation weakness compared to my Sony 42" TV. Photos are also sharp and clear, but it is somewhat easier to notice color shifts when moving your head around while using photoshop.Games are very clear and bright, and usually so fast paced that the relatively small color shifting problem is not noticed. The relatively slow 5ms response has not been an issue so far on the games my son has tried on this machine to evaluate the monitor.I should point out that my HP Quad core AMD computer is only a year old, and used an ASUS Nvidia GeForce 210 graphics card when I purchased the HP2511x. I have since upgraded to an ASUS NVidia ENGTS450 TOP Graphics card. This sped things up in some applications, and perhaps slightly improved graphics quality and color saturation in other programs, but without doing side-by-side comparisons, it is impossible to say; the difference is minor, if present.I can use this monitor, and the improved text quality is appreciated over the non-LED monitors I used or saw in stores. However, the sweet spot issue, while better than most of the other LED monitors I viewed, was just annoying enough to drop a star off of my rating.

I just received my HP 2511 LED Monitor yesterday and it is everything I could have hoped for and more! I was a little worried with some of the reviews I had read about the screen being too glossy. But I went with my first mind as I always do. I think the screen is perfect. I don't even notice the gloss once the display has been turned on. And the gloss only makes the monitor look that much more professional and clean looking when it is off. It is very streamlined in appearance and took up very little workspace. Build quality is very solid and assembly was very easy!(No tools required). The display itself is a thing of beauty. The colors and contrast are excellent in my opinion. Plus you can make adjustments according to your own preferences. This is cool if you are playing video games or movies because the HP monitor has presets for this specific type of media. Although I haven't played any yet. I'm looking forward to it.I mainly got it for my music sessions in Logic Pro and other programs to increase the text size compared to my 13" MacBook. And now every word is clearer and bigger than ever!(3 to 4x at least). No more strained eyes during long sessions with my computer! Brightness can also be controlled to personal taste. It also connected to my MacBook seemlessly via mini display port to HDMI cable. I'm loving everything about it so far. If it can last for awhile. I will be even more impressed. This is my first monitor so I'll be very satisfied as long as it meets the manufacturers warranty. Which should be a couple of years. Once again, this is an excellent monitor in my opinion! The picture, quality, and build are unmatched at this price! Just as good as a Mac monitor to me, but not as pricey! The Mac may be bigger, but it's not that much better! It may be a little crispier, but it ain't that much more clearer! And clarity is what we all really want when it comes to a monitor right? Don't get me wrong. I love my Mac! But it's good to know that there are other companies out there willing to step up their game and incorporate well with other companies like Apple. Hewlett Packard has done a great job with the HP 2511. Awesome! Monitor! I'm very glad I bought it!

I bought this monitor to use in a PLP setup along side my HP LP3065 monitor.I previously purchased the Dell 2007FP, which was completely terrible. the picture was yellowed like old parchment and looked like an antique next to my IPS 30inch from HP.This monitor, on the other hand, is able to keep up in just about every department. I cannot seem to get the picture to match exactly, but they are very close, and on brightness above 70, the whites are whiter than on my LP3065. on brightness below 70, the blacks are blacker. I have noticed very slight image burn-in when a window is left on the screen for a while. The stand is phenomenal. Better than the stand on the 30 inch variant, but this might just be due to the weight difference. the 30 inch variant comes with a cumbersome stand that I can never seem to get to hold the monitor perfectly straight. The stand on the LP2065 will hold the monitor at any angle and any height, perfectly still. However, it will only rotate one direction. In order to get the monitor to be in portrait mode, i had to take the stand off and screw it back in upside down. This isn't a problem, really, as the holes line up, but there is a gap because the mount is not symmetric.PROS:Beautiful picture... and I mean beautiful.Intuitive on-screen displayAmazing stand, for the most part.CONS:Silver color is ugly. I wish it were the same color as my LP3065.Only input is DVI. HDMI and DP are becoming mainstream and some people might need other inputs, especially for multiple-monitor setups.Monitor only rotates counter-clockwise into portrait mode, will not rotate clockwise. However if you mount the monitor to the stand up side down, it will be perfectly fine.Very slight image burn-in, meaning if you leave a window on the screen for a while, then close it, a ghost of the image will be left behind. will have to look more into this, as I have only noticed it while running linux, not windows.

Bottom line, this monitor is as good as you're going to find, anywhere near its price point. At the current Amazon price, it's almost criminal that you can get so much value for the buck.Right out of the box, the 2511x looked like a 4-star monitor. While large and impressive, the color saturation was excessive, and it didn't seem very bright. For a few minutes, I was a little bummed out. Then I started experimenting with the controls, and this piece of gear suddenly went deep into 5-star territory. Here's what I did:- turned down the red, from 256 to 210- turned down the green, from 256 to 196- turned down the blue, from 256 to 240.That straightened out the color imbalance. Out of the box, the saturation is too high and it's way too red/green. Just turn them down to levels such as the above, to get to the "cooler" neutral or slightly blue-ish tint that is familiar to most computer users.- then I set sharpness on 5 (maximum) from 4, and- turned the brightness to max,- and set the contrast up from the default 77-ish % to 92 %Once I did all that, which took about an hour of adjustments and experimentation, the display was just mind-blowing. I used an iMac for five years, which is a great machine with a great display, and this is better. The 25" size is a lot different than the typical 21.5-23". It doesn't sound like a big difference, but it's huge. 25" is a much, MUCH better size. It's not too big, and certainly not too small. 25" may be the perfect size for single-monitor office-work duty. The unit is light, thin, and easy to move around. The angle adjustment is adequate -- you'll be able to adjust it to the right viewing angle, although it doesn't do extreme angles up or down. One thing that external monitor newbies (such as I, a few hours ago) may need to know: If you're plugging in a laptop, you may need to go into control panel -> display -> change display settings -> display, and then tell it to use only the external monitor (monitor # 2). If your laptop has a max resolution of 1600x900, and you have it set (by default) to "display on both monitors", it'll only display on the HP at 1600x900, which won't look good. You need to get that resolution bumped up to 1920x1080, which won't be allowed until you set the display to Monitor 2 and thereby free it from the limitations of your laptop's display. Of course, if your laptop already displays 1920x1280, then you won't have this issue.I saw a few comments about not being able to find the power button or other controls. I don't get that. It's a little button on the underside of the monitor, on the far right, just where my index finger expected to find it. The adjustment controls were also self-explanatory; I never opened the online manual. I hit the menu button and got right to it - colors, contrast, etc. Piece of cake. The 2511x is an incredible value for the money - and would be a good value at twice the cost. I believe that this monitor will significantly increase my productivity and pay for itself many times over. Highly recommended. With the caveat that I'm using it with routine office software and writing-based tasks; whether its colors are "true" and the unit suitable for photographic and artistic usage is a whole different question which I know nothing about.

For over a year I have been using the fabulous ViewSonic VX2250WM-LED 22-Inch (21.5-Inch Vis) Widescreen Full HD 1080p LED Monitor with Integrated Stereo Speakers. I've loved it: the color was great, the size was wonderful, never ever a dead pixel, no frustration in regards to altering picture settings, and the price was affordable too. My review for the VX2250WM is even the spotlight review, and I stand by everything I say in regards to that product. But I like this HP model even better.Yes, essentially they are the same product. Both are 1080p, both are LED, both are visually stunning, and both have their pros and cons. I would not say that I like this HP SIGNIFICANTLY better, but there are two things I prefer about it:*HDMI. A big disappointment for me with the ViewSonic is that it wasn't HDMI compatible. I had to make do by buying the Premium High Resolution 10FT / 3m 24K GOLD HDMI TO DVI M/M CABLE FOR HDTV PLASMA DVD which was fine, and the picture was fabulous, but I can tell that the picture is better when I connect to this HP monitor via HDMI. Almost startlingly better. The whites, for example, on this Amazon.com page are almost blinding. I also watch a lot of movies on my comp, and they of course look very good.*Stand. Although I had no problems with the ViewSonic stand, the HP feels sturdier and less likely to tip over. Not a big deal, but since you never know when your desk may get a shimmy shake, I like knowing that this monitor feels more grounded.*Size. I will also note that, though you may not think it, an upgrade to 25 inch from 21.5 inch is a big deal. This monitor looks enormous compared to my old one, even though it's only a few inches larger. Definitely worth the extra cost, IMO.- WHAT I WOULD LIKE*Sound. I'm a little disappointed computer monitors aren't as equipped with sound these days. I connected my Blu Ray player to the monitor to see how it would look--it looked amazing--but there was no way to connect the sound to my monitor. I know that isn't a problem for most people at all, but since HDMI sends both picture and sound signals, it seems like it would be very easy to add at least a headphones output on there somewhere. My ViewSonic had speakers, but alas no HDMI, so you couldn't transfer sound and picture at the same time via HDMI, making Blu Ray Player connection useless.OVERALL: So far my experience has been perfect with this product. Thanks to HDMI, the picture quality is better than some of the competition, and setup was an absolute breeze. With some new monitors you have to tinker around with the settings to get the picture looking right, but this one was perfect right out of the box. It does not come with an HDMI cable, so be sure to order one if you plan to connect your computer to it that way. I recommend the HDMI Cable 2M (6 Feet). Cables for the other connection types are included. As I do with all the electronics I review, if something bad should happen (a malfunction, crash, or dead pixels showing up) I will update my review immediately to explain the problem. Thus far, everything has been running smoothly and I have no major complaints.

I bought this monitor to replace my 3 year old 23" Acer screen, which broke recently. Acer has become a really cheap, low-quality brand and I struggled to find a monitor that would offer the brightness and contrast I need for gaming and movies. My quest came to an end unexpectedly when I went to Microcenter to do some scouting to see what screens caught my eye. The second I saw the HP 2511x time slowed and I knew I was in love. This screen seemed twice as bright and contrasty as any other monitor on the show floor. I knew I had to have it. I went home immediately and ordered the display from amazon, despite seeing slightly lower prices elsewhere. This decision proved to be very wise because when I finally received the monitor, my excitement at seeing the glorious image quickly turned to disappointment when I noticed a bright red stuck pixel right in the middle of the screen. This defect was so noticeable it ruined whatever I was viewing on the screen. Amazon's return policy turned out to be the most simple, hassle-free experience. UPS picked up the defective item the next day free of charge and by that time the replacement was already on its way via expedited shipping. Two days later the monitor was here again, and this time it is flawless. Amazon once again proved why it is THE PLACE to order electronics and more, with its excellent customer service. The screen itself is glossy without giving off too much glare (the glossy screens are truly brighter in my experience). The contrast is phenomenal with blinding whites and deepest possible blacks. I found that turning dynamic contrast on only dims the image slightly, so I keep it off and see no loss of black color quality. My brightness level is at 100, contrast is at 85, and I am using the "text" preset because it looks very bright and vivid while still being natural and not over-saturated. So far I have tested Max Payne 3, and found that the size and quality of the image really takes that game to a new level. Pixar's Up also looked mind-blowing in 1080p. This display really is almost on par with Apple's Icinema, and for the $240 I cannot imagine stumbling upon a better purchase. If you need a monitor for any high definition multimedia needs, look no further!. (the 23" model comes with a matte screen and is considerably less vibrant)

Just received my new HP 2511x monitor today. So far I love the monitor. Shipping from Amazon, great as usual. Received package in 2 days, no problems at all. One suggestion to Amazon: The monitor came packed in it's HP box just fine, but that box was put into a bigger box with no padding so the monitor box was flopping around inside the bigger box. You should pack that better next time so it doesn't move around. So the monitor:Pros:1) Beautiful monitor. It looks like a high quality, well-made monitor.2) Easy setup. With Win7 it's basically a no brainer, just plug it in, connect to computer (I'm using HMDI cable), and install the driver. About 5 minutes, done.3) Picture looks awesome. Better then my great Asus HD monitor. No dead pixels. The screen is high gloss which helps makes the picture fantasic, but be aware, if your monitor is going to face the window, you'll probably get too much glare. In my situation it's fine since the monitor faces inward (away from the windows).4) The buttons located on the bottom-right of the screen (on the bottom edge) are OK. Better then the dumb "touch" type buttons on my Asus. The setup menus are fine. Nothing special, nothing annoying about them.5) Input Ports - Has all three that anyone will need: VGA, DVI, and HDMI. Some monitors like my Asus only have two (either VGA and HMDA, or VGA and DVI).Cons:1) You may run into a scaling issue where the desktop won't fill up the entire monitor. The monitor should have info printed that mentions this and how to resolve it. Basically just find your video cards software and find "Scaling Options". Then adjust the "Overscan" (used 0% in my case) to fill the screen.2) The monitor stand. Although it's very easy to assemble, and sturdy enough, it's not adjustable! :) I knew this and fine with putting the monitor on a box (the same box I had to use for my last HD monitor) but for this somewhat upper-end monitor, the stand should be adjustable. So this one thing is why I can't give 5 stars (I want to give 5 stars badly but can't). 5 stars means perfect, and with no adjustable stand it's not quite perfect. That's it. I've seen reviews where the monitor died after a few months, etc. and since this is only my first day, if something changes, I'll update my review. :) But so far, thumbs up, this monitor rocks.

I bought this monitor one month ago to replace my old Samsung 1931ew+ which has a 2ms response. First of all the 5ms response time in this HP monitor doesn't make any noticeably lag or anything comparing the 2ms on my other monitor either in games or movies or text rolling so that's a positive for those of you who care about response time. The glossy screen gives you a crisp picture quality specially when viewing photos and etc.The worst thing about this monitor though is its viewing angel which cause me giving it 3 stars instead of 5. I tend to sit close to my monitor (something like 50cm) and there is noticeably brightness and color gradient in the top vs. bottom part of the monitor. I don't know if my unit has problem or it's a common thing about this model but comparing it with my older Samsung 1931BW+ which is 4-5 years older technology this monitor is literally terrible. The usable part of the screen is its lower half and while viewing a webpage on lower parts of the screen you want to look up and type something in the URL box you realize you are looking at something much darker and dimmer. I really didn't expect to see such a thing for a monitor with this rate.Of course when you increase the Contrast the problem become less sever but then again putting it on high contrast or brightness will just lead to eye strain as in resembles sitting in front of a lamp instead of a monitor.I am sort of disappointed in this monitor and If I wanna buy again I will definitely go for Samsung as at least they know what they are doing.

This screen has the perfect amount of glass. I'm a computer technician and have seen many many monitor and I've noticed HP does monitors with the glossy finish very well. It's has a perfect balance of gloss, and the colors just pop. The screen can get very bright, in fact I keep it at about 60%. As far as adjusting the picture settings that's going to be personal preference for each person. I tried adjusting my settings to some of the stuff other comments on here stated but didn't like them. It was very easy to find the settings I liked though. My only minor complaint with this monitor is that it does not have a 3.5mm audio out. So if your using the hdmi port to hook the monitor to your computer, your going to have to plug the speakers into the back of the computer as well instead of plugging them right into the monitor. That's not a huge deal however and is and easy work around. I do a lot of gaming such as world of warcraft and I think the colors are fabulous on this monitor as wow is a very colorful game. The way I have mine set up, the monitor is about 5ft away from me in front of my couch and I can still see everything clearly. However my vision is also 20/20 so that may very for other people. I did adjust the DPI settings in windows to 125% to make things a little bigger, otherwise things like your taskbar will be kind of small.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the 23" version of this monitor. I like everything about it except the weak stand. But still I felt I really wanted to go bigger so I returned the 2311x and purchased the 2511x. The stand on the 2511 is slightly better but still kind of weak. The stand on the 2311 snaps into the base and the 2511 bolts in. Both of them are wobbly. When you push the power or settings buttons underneath, the monitor shakes like crazy. I don't get why they didn't make it more sturdy. My 6 year old Samsung 4:3 19" that this replaced is built like a tank. You can't make it wobble. I ran a pixel test and I thought I had a dead red pixel. On a couple of subsequent test the dead pixel lit up. Yay, no dead pixels! There weren't any on the 23" either. My second and biggest gripe is the glossy screen. The 2311 has a matte screen. My Samsung has a matte screen also. I knew the 2511 had a glossy screen before I bought it but I didn't think it would be an issue since I have a laptop with a glossy screen. Well the 2511 must be extra glossy because I can see me on the screen almost like a mirror. There is a window facing the East behind where my desk is and in the mornings the sun shines directly into it. The big yellow ball glowing on my screen is not cool. Even when I close the blinds I see the reflections from between the slats. It's not practical to move my desk since I have one of those corner desk and it's in the only place in the room where it will fit. The glossy screen does have some positives. The colors are brighter. They really pop out at you. The text seems to be sharper and movies look nice. I don't really use it for movies, I have a 58" plasma, I just played a movie on the monitor for a test and it was smoother than the matte screen of the 2311. I really love everything about the monitor except the weak stand and the reflections. I have about 10 days to decide it the reflection issue is going to be a deal breaker or not but I'll probably end up keeping it and adapt some way or the other. BTW, I have a question. HP describes the screen as Brightview. I googled Brightview and only came up with ads about HP monitors. No description of how Brightview is different. Does anyone know?***September 10, Update: After about 3 weeks of ownership while I was working on my computer the monitor shut off as if it were unplugged. I didn't know what the problem was at first but I found out it was the power adapter. I found out by plugging in a power adapter from a Compaq laptop that is the same voltage. I called HP and it took about 30 minutes before I could convince the foreign customer service rep that I knew what I was talking about as far as what the problem was. He eventually transferred me to someone else who understood what I was saying right away. The second person had HP ship me a new power adapter overnight. I received it the next day. I would not lower my rating for that problem because I still think it's a great monitor. But I am writing this update in case someone else has the same problem and may think it's something other than the power adapter. Often what happens when you send in your new device with a problem they will send you a refurbished replacement.

I have been using an HP W2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor for a long time now. However, I recently gave it away and decided to upgrade to an LED monitor. Based on reviews on Amazon, I bought the Viewsonic VX2453MH-LED 24-Inch Ultra-thin Widescreen LED Monitor - Black. It was a mistake. It stopped working after a week. I came back to Amazon and found this brilliant monitor. It has been a pleasure to work with it, thus far. I primarily use it for reading PDFs, composing manuscripts and viewing occasional youtube videos. Text is super crisp and the viewing area is amazingly generous. It feels like my window into the world has suddenly expanded and doubled in size.Compared with the Viewsonic VX2453MH-LED 24-Inch Ultra-thin Widescreen LED Monitor - Black - whose viewing area is not really 24", the viewing area in this monitor (HP 2511x 25-Inch LED Monitor - Black is actually 25". Borders, logos etc are understated and kept to a minimum. The buttons are placed at the bottom edge and are well-designed. The monitor is light - as are other LED monitors, but it appears very sturdy and solid. I move the monitor around frequently and I am constantly amazed at how light it actually is, given its size. Its internal menus are exactly like the ones on the HP W2207 22-inch Widescreen Flat Panel LCD Monitor. However, I didn't really need to change anything. The default monitor settings have given me flawless performance, without any need for fiddling with them. If I needed another monitor, I would buy this again without any hesitation. Thank you, HP for making such reliable monitors. And thank you, Amazon for carrying them in your fabulous store!

This HP LaserJet Print Cartridge 92A that I bought at Amazon shows a box of the HP Print Cartridge 92A in the manufacturer's box indicating you will receive that product. The box shows that it is an official HP product. What you do receive is a much smaller brown cardboard box with no markings on the box. I'm pretty sure in is a REMANUFACTURED PRINT CARTRIDGE, which is NOT what I ordered and paid for . IT IS NOT NEW! I hate that Amazon has let this seller sell through Amazon, whom I love and trust! I have reported this to Amazon. I am thoroughly disgusted with the vendor, BLIZZARD, LLC, for the DELIBERATE DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING. I'm also disgusted and disappointed that Amazon did not catch this before since they have had others vendors who have done the same thing with the same product. I only ordered this because I thought surely Amazon had this fixed by now. I think that a seller who does this should be immediately dropped as an Amazon seller or at least suspended until Amazon verifies it for sure--and then dropped! I think Amazon should do random checks on their new sellers by buying an item and then checking it against their internet ad. I do not think they should be given a second chance! The message should be, "Cheat Amazon's customers, and you are out of here!"

Великолепно

Four things that are hard to find together in one notebook. But this HP Probook 4530s manages to deliver on all fronts.Firstly let me say this product was purchased for me from this seller and is in my possession. So, no "verified" purchase but rest assured this is my first hand impression of this product. And be that as it may, it is most likely in the top three sub $500 notebooks on the market. It has the latest processor technology, the recommended amount of RAM, Bluetooth, easily upgradable 320gb HD, and some nifty "on chip" graphics that allows me to play Left4Dead2 on max settings at native resolution. No AA, and of course this is not a gaming laptop by any means. But it will play some games nonetheless, and some older ones very well.It looks great. The brushed aluminum finish is very handsome, and it certainly looks all business, all classy, or simply all quality. The aluminum finish can be polished to a nice luster, and the unit is solid as a slate of granite. No flexing, creaking, or otherwise in its rigid chassis. Everything looks and feels quality. The case could easily be one for a laptop costing hundreds more. One thing is for sure, this is a very nicely finished notebook. It is perfectly suited for a place in the home, office, school, or even a boardroom. You can take it out of a carrying case, put it on a desk, and be confident it doesn't look like a cheap, plastic keyboard with a screen attached. Understated good looks come to mind. If you saw a CEO using one of these you wouldn't even think twice. Well, if it were casual Friday, maybe. And if you're a gray suit kind of person this notebook would complete the look perfectly.Screen quality is average at best. Typical TN display with dithering and inaccurate colors. It's not quite bright enough, contrast ratio somewhat lacking. It's fine for watching movies and video if not too picky, but imo the display benefits in that area from a bit of adjustment. Screen a bit darker, contrast a bit higher, and night scenes are helped substantially. So it is acceptable and sharp for standard use both work related and multimedia. But if that work includes anything that requires spot on color reproduction without compromise, look elsewhere imo.For the rest of us this is one of the best bargains on the notebook market. Solidly built, attractively finished case, latest intel processor technology, loads of HP security features to keep busybodies out, oh and before I forget, HP Quickweb! This is a Linux based application which allows "one touch" access to the internet without booting into Windows. Press a single button on the keyboard and 10 to 15 seconds later you are on the internet! Its that simple. And you can boot to Windows from Quickweb anytime. It's a very nice and convenient feature imo.If you want a fast, sturdy, attractive, no nonsense, nicely equipped notebook this one is definitely for you. And who wouldn't want that?
