An amazingly BRIGHT monitor. Glossy like patent leather, reflecting room lights and daylight. Once you figure out how to turn it on (hidden button on extreme right of base), you may go a bit mad "tweaking" the OSD buttons that control color, brightness and contrast (rigid buttons that are difficult to reach and work with while monitoring the changes). Over time, the settings "drift" and you have to re-tweak.The monitor is stunning. The resolution is good, but there are "jaggys" in the text, even at the highest level of sharpness. For photo and video work, not so good. There are too many "hot" highlights, and adjusting one level messes up the others. It really is an old style monitor that has been discontinued by New Egg and others.Despite the good reviews going back a few years, I would suggest that there are better monitors/TV's that provide as good, and hopefully better, resolution and sharpness. Despite the HDMI 1080P designation, this monitor from my perspective, leaves much to be desired. (My iMac crashed, and I now use a Mac Mini. Sadly, there are no updated drivers (come on, HP, there ARE folks out there on OSX and not just PC's) on the HP website. Not a bad choice. Perhaps not the best choice. New IPS panels are working their way down in price. You may want to wait.

I've had this monitor for 4 months (added to an existing multi-monitor setup). I was specifically trying to avoid monitors with matte screens, but it seemed that at the time I was shopping, most of the higher-quality monitors in my price range were all matte. Fortunately, I came across several favorable reviews of the HP 2511x 25-inch.The screen is gorgeous. The stand allows an adequate amount of adjustment for my purposes (if you need to be able to adjust the angles by very wide margins, though, look elsewhere). The price wasn't too bad compared to other monitors of this size. I haven't had any problems with flickering or dead pixels or buzzing or shadows/ghosting.I have not attempted to do any sophisticated tests of color accuracy since I am not using the monitor for any work that requires extreme accuracy. The colors seem reasonable for my purposes.I would buy it again, but would watch prices for a couple of weeks before making the selection. Prices do fluctuate. Amazon dropped the price 5+% a few days after I made my purchase.

1-5-2013, Rev C.Update: I downloaded from HP's site, the driver for my computer (WinXP) and the flicker seems less. I also later set the refresh to 75 Hz. The monitor is not reporting anything but 1920x1080 (what I'm set to), and 60 Hz.I called HP. They cant find it by the Sn, or the electronic serial number, which are different?----------------------------------------------Nice and big, has a very slight flicker...I got this monitor because my new (now old, Dell ST2320L) monitor had a fuzzy anti-reflection coating that made text fuzzy and and hard to read. This new monitor is much clearer. Near perfect (I had to turn the brightness to 40, Contrast to 85).I got this one from Newegg (N82E16824228033) as a refurbished, famous brands, tSS-25X11LED. I payed ~$170. Its now 160, gerr. I called Ne, and they gave me a $20 credit back. We'll see...Any way, my only problem is there is a very slight flicker, and it only supports 60Hz. Otherwise its grate.I often find a monitor will only fit in a desk by the outside dimensions, and its never listed, so here they are (inches):~23-3/4 wide~14-3/4 tall (monitor only)~17-3/4 tall with the stand~4-1/2 thick, with cabled plugged in (they protrude out the back)Viewable area diagonal is 25.0Hopefully HP will give me support (flicker problem)...Good luck...

Of course, this is an HP product, so I expect perfection and the HP 2511x 25-Inch LED Monitor - Black delivered! Clear, crisp, vibrant display; sleek appearance; easy to access and use controls; superbly packaged (for shipping and ease of un-packing); easy-easy-easy pictorial assembly instructions. I don't often require the "tilt and glide" feature, but when I do, I am so glad it's there.Included in the box are connective cables for VGA and DVI-D. NOT included is a connective cable for HDMI, so do purchase the HDMI cable separately.I am a casual home-network user, not a pro, so do not know enough to meaningfully comment on exact color trueness, but this monitor's color and contrast certainly surpass my expectations! And, no glare - none at all. When the monitor is not in use (is off), there is a glare from the blank unpowered screen, so it is a happy surprise that when powered-up and in use there is no glare whatsoever. This monitor's response time is lightning quick. As a casual user, I hadn't understood the role a monitor has in speed of display (I thought everything depended upon Internet connectivity speed); but, this puppy absolutely !POPS!As a non-pro, I always get a little nervous about setting up and connecting new devices. If you feel as I do, you can RELAX here. I was home alone (no techies around!) when the monitor was delivered and was so anxious to use it that I decided to go ahead and try setting it up myself. Bada bing, bada boom! Nothing to it! I had it out of the box, assembled, installed, and up and running inside of 15 minutes. It says "plug-and-play" and it means it. Techno-phobes have nothing to worry about.I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend this product.

I moved up to this 25" LED monitor from a 22" monitor and at first I thought it would be too big. After about 15 minutes of using it my eyes got used to the overall size. I doubt I would ever want anything bigger than this for my home computer unless I got into serious gaming and could sit further away from the screen. At this size, sitting up close is rather difficult if you want to see the entire screen so I found myself pushed back a bit from my desk and my keyboard tray pulled out a little further. This monitor setup very easily without the need for the included CD that came with it. My computer, running Windows 7, easily installed the necessary drivers or whatever needed to get done and automatically congigured my graphics so the resolution was correct.I did find the default display seetings a bit too bright so I went into the configuration menu to do some tweaking. The monitor was set to "Text" in the pre-configured settings and I shuffled through some of the others like "Movie", "picture" and "games". I preferred the "picture" settings as it brought out more of the color. However, I still found the brightness to be too high. There is a "custom" setting but I went to a different screen adjustment where you can set the brightness or contrast manually. I turned the brightness down from the 100% to 75% and I found it much easieer on my eyes.I played around with various HD content such as streaming things from Youtube, Netflix and various HD movies I have on my PC. The picture is beautiful and rivals any HD TV I have in my house. I typically use my desktop as a way for one of my kids to watch a show if the other boy is watching something on TV (my 4 year old likes super heroes and my 1 year old like Blue's Clues). I have all of their movies backed up on various hard drives which I can stream to any computer or TV in my house and this 25" monitor makes everyhting look great.I even tried using Skype to call my parents so my kids could talk to "Nana" and "Papa". While the 22" monitor made everything look great, moving up 3" makes it seem like they are in the room when using the high quality video (we both had HD webcams and cable internet).I'm glad I decided to switch to a larger monitor. As I stated before, however, I doubt I would ever go bigger than this for everyday use of a computer. When I first opened it, I almost decided to use it as a TV (maybe put it in my oldest room at some future date), however I would need to buy some type of way to produce sound since this monitor does not have speakers. If you do have a home theater system or even a sound bar system, this monitor would look great in a small room if you wanted to use it for TV.Very happy with this HP monitor!

I actually ordered this a year ago and have been using it at my desk since then, and it's been ok.The brightness is a little jarring, and the menu is very touchy and not at all intuitive... HOWEVER, what's finally prompted me to leave feedback is that I'm changing desks, and need to adjust the height on the monitor. I assumed that since this monitor SAID it was height adjustable on the description when I bought it, that it actually was, but NO. As it turns out, this monitor is NOT height adjustable, in spite of HP's descriptive information on this product saying that it is.Their actual website acknowledges it's not height adjustable, but that's not helpful for someone trusting the descriptive info provided by HP to Amazon.com. I only wish I'd discovered this before now since I'm way past the return window. I never needed to adjust the height until today, and now, I'm just going to have to order a new monitor that adjusts.

Let me start by saying I don't relish writing a bad review (I have rarely had to do so, and it pains me when I have to) but I have had nothing but problems with this notebook and HP's strange configuration. Finally got to a place where I felt comfortable using it and updates from HP arrived via it's useless HP Assistant which disabled my wireless adapter. After contacting their technical support (they try to charge you for almost everything except dialing the phone)I determined that I may need to use the restore disk to try to correct the problem. Once I looked closely at the restore disks I discovered they are for Vista (which I hate and have avoided like the plague) despite the fact that Windows 7 was loaded on to the computer (this was provided by WORLDWIDE DISTRIBUTORS through Amazon so beware of them as well). And guess what, the 90 day warranty had expired and I had to pay for the disks that were never sent to me. The only saving grace was that the young man in India was quite nice and patient.I have owned several notebooks (Toshiba, Compaq, Sony, Dell, and now HP) and of the lot HP has been the worst! If you are considering buying RUN LIKE THE WIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!UPDATE:I decided to come back and provide an update. The initial tech who was so helpful got back in touch with me after sending the disks I needed, and worked and worked to correct the problem until he got me back up and running. I can't say that everyone at HP offers this type service but this was my experience and was the reason I increased from one star to four stars. I am also more comfortable with the configuration (after accepting that there are some things in it that I have to give up control over) so the notebook is finally beginning to live up to it's promise and meeting my needs.Again, now a lot more pleased with the response I received from HP and feel a lot better about the laptop and the company. WHO KNEW!!!!!

I can't speak for the long-term viability of the monitor, as I've had it all of three days, but... wow. It's better than I hoped for.Previously I had a 23-inch LG Flatron, which looked pretty darned good to my eyes, but after three and a half years I decided a bigger monitor would be nice, providing I could find a decent one at a good price. So I began researching the various options and brands. This one and its siblings (the 2311x and 2711x) get decent reviews from professional reviewers - the main gripe is the grayscale performance. At the higher and lower ends they don't perform as well as others - but those others also cost a fair bit more. So after much hemming and hawing, and reading the user reviews both here on Amazon and over at Newegg, I decided to take the plunge.Setting it up was a painless affair - took all of 10 minutes, and half of that was just getting it out of the box. My computer (an HP) recognized it right away. The default/standard settings are a tad bright for my taste; the "warm" setting seems nicer. (One can tinker with the colors, if one is so inclined.) I've watched a movie (Smilla's Sense of Snow), an episode of Revolution and an online Alicia Keys concert in the past few days. Everything looked as it should - better than the Flatron. I recommend it.

I must say I was a little hesitant at first when purchasing this HP 25" monitor for 216! Well, as soon as it arrived, I put the stand together and attached it to the monitor and I must say this looks great on my desk and I have no regrets! I was worried about the glossy screen and being able to read all day since this is primarily used for work; however, my worries went away when I turned it on and the glossy screen just made everything brighter and crisper. Viewing office documents, pictures, videos, and web surfing looks wonderful. I am in front of the monitor the entire day and have no issues with eyestrain (my brightness level is set to 65 because the default setting of 90 was too bright for me). With the exception of the brightness level, I did not have to make any adjustments to the color settings because everything looked great! In reference to size, I believe 25 inches is the sweet spot when it comes to monitors, and when you look around in your local stores, there are not a lot of options (if any). I originally bought a 27 inch monitor from a local retail chain, but it was too big and the matte finish really washed out the colors and my eyes were aching after using it for 3 days, so I returned it. I am so glad I did!Obviously, this monitor does not have speakers and I knew that, so I will not deduct a star, but it would have been nice to have some type of speaker.Well, if you are on the fence with what to purchase, this may suffice your needs. I highly recommend it! Feel free to ask any questions.

I paid the extra few dollars for the "Like New" monitor. When it arrived it did look like new, aside from a little dust. There were no scrapes or external problems. It didn't come with a power cord. It did come with a standard VGA monitor cable. When I hooked it up and made the screen white (opened and maximized a word document) I noticed a blurry light blue-ish spot about the size of a dime almost in the center of the screen that has not gone away after using it for a week. I'm hoping it will go away. Aside from the spot the color is great. It was packed very well when it was shipped, but the box looked a bit beat up when it arrived. I suppose it could have happened during shipping. I'm not going to the trouble of trying to return it. Oh yeah, one more thing. I already owned a HP L1940T, which is printed on the lowed right front of the monitor. This one that I ordered (with the spot) is now sitting next to it, as a second monitor. Although I thought purchased a second "Like New" HP L1940T, it's not written on my new monitor. The monitor says only "HP 1940".

I was using this as an external monitor for my MacBook Pro. The hookup was easy, and it would work fine for about 72 hours and than the DVI and HDMI ports would not function. There was no way when connected to the DVI or HDMI ports that the monitor would wake up. If I switched to a VGA connection it worked again. I called HP customer support and confirmed that all my settings were fine and there was no explanation other than they sent me a replacement re-conditioned monitor only to have it work exactly as the first display did. Called HP again and they were going to send me another monitor. I refused that option and returned the monitor to Apple. I bought the Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" LED LCD Monitor an it is working perfectly.

I have 2 printers that use this ink, and I use my printers a great deal for my work. I have never ordered any ink cartridges before from Amazon, this is the first time. The package arrived quickly, and intact, with no damages. The ink is good quality ink, and thus far, it is well worth the price. In comparison to local stores I've been too, I found Amazon to be the least expensive, not to mention, not every store always has this twin pack sitting on the shelves. Many times, over the years, I made a frustrating trip back home without my twin pack. In addition, after purchasing my ink from a few top brand named stores and paying top dollar, my ink dried out too quickly. Finally, I found the right place to order my ink cartridges, with less stress, and good quality ink that will last longer. No complaints, and totally content! For the icing on the cake, no more running to the stores and waiting on the lines on my work lunch break. One less thing to worry about. This is where I will be ordering my ink from now on. The only regret I have is not ordering from Amazon years ago. Another lesson learned!

It does not have 100X100 mount. For 20$ more, I would go for 2010i.Comparing to 2210m:The 21.5' 2210m is 1920*1080 full HD with HDMI input and is gloss screen. First of all, 2210m is a great monitor if you like gloss screen and are used to relatively small character size. However, if I have extra cash and if I like glossy screen, I would go for a larger screen such as 2310m or 2509m since the character size is simply too small for me on 2210m than that on 2010i.Comparing to ViewSonic's VX2250WM-LED 22-InchI was also able to compare it to ViewSonic VX2250WM-LED. First of all, I don't think led tech will add better display experience to a monitor but make it a lower power consumption and a lighter body. Considering the color richness and color accuracy, I would like to vote for 2010i because the color on VX2250WM-LED appears to me wash-out and a little weak. The built quality of 2010i is also better. But if you want a lighter display with a higher resolution at a reasonable price, you may want to go with VX2250WM-LED.Comparing to Samsung 2333SWI also own Samsung 2333SW. Even if it is full HD, the color is so weak comparing to HP 2010i. The most important thing is that I always feel eye strain on the Samsung 2333SW. I just feel so comfortable working on the HP monitor.update (11/02/2010): Comparing to HP S2031I made a dual setup using HP 2010i and HP S2031. I got the HP S2031 from HP for a huge discount. The HP 2010i has an overall better build quality than that of HP S2031. The display experience on two monitors are quite similar except that the text character on HP S2031 has a barely noticeable greenish cast. For under $100, I would go for HP S2031.Character size:The character size appears larger on this monitor than that on Samsung 2333Sw 23"(1920*1080) monitor and that on 2210m. You may like this if your eyesight is not as good as before. For 21.5" and 23" monitor, I have to adjust the text size to medium (125%) to feel all right. But on this, default 100% text size appears just perfect for me.If you are looking for a budget monitor best used for online browsing, text editing, movie playing, and photo editing, this would be a great buy. Large screen or higher resolution is not always a better choice and it really depends on your needs. If I really want to get a full 1080P experience, I would watch the movie on my Samsung 46" HDTV. After comparing different brands and models, when I sit in front of my desk working on something, this is the most comfortable screen that I ever had. I just feel the crystal clarity at every second...Buyer attention: removing sticker from top bezel of 2010i can be a pain since the glue residue is very strong as the other reviewers pointed out. I also observed that other HP 20** series monitors received many negative reviews only because of this. HP should take serious consideration on this. Here is a tip : "Removal of advertising sticker from top bezel of HP monitors at HP Support Forum": Check out comments section below.About HP consumer monitor 2*** model:Have been doing research on hp monitor for a while. I went to Costco to check also. Personally, I prefer the 'i' version to the 'm' version since I don't like the glossy finish. Even with the anti-glare coating, I still see things or myself clear on the screen. I feel eye strain too (the most important thing). I wish they had a bigger screen model. Unfortunately, they don't have the corresponding 2310i, 2510i, 2710i in US(only available in UK). They do have the 2310m, 2509m,2710m in US, but they are glossy finish. the only downside with the i version is there is no hdmi input.Example2509m25 means 25"09 means 2009 modelm indicates glossy finish

Purchased for my mom to replace a smaller 19" Acer monitor and she's very happy. Did some research on various sites and this one was rated well fora budget 25" and I can see why. Solidly built with great OSD options for calibrating and adjusting the screen. Lots of inputs. Image quality is very good. No significant backlight bleed, buzzing noises or other build quality issues. There is one consideration though. It's a fair amount reflective and glossy which causes noticeable glare. If you're in a darker room where glare isn't a problem then you'll be fine but if you're near a window or other lights it acts as a mirror. It's obviously very noticeable during the day when looking at dark video, pics or games but it's fine at night looking a bright images like websites. Not really a con depending on how and where you use it but something to be aware of. I won't knock a star off because it's not the monitors fault the computer is in the brightest room in the house.

I have been using this monitor for about 2 months now, and I can say it's a great monitor. Coming from a retina MacBook, they pixel density was a little hard to get used to, but now it's just fine. A couple of issues: the power cord has a huge brick in the middle, and the brick-to-monitor part is a little too short. When I plugged the HDMI into my MacBook, the colors were very washed out and bad, but I switched over to VGA and it looks perfect, as good as an iMac's screen. I have not tested the DVI port. I also wish this monitor came with built-in speakers, but if it did, they probably wouldn't be any good anyway. Overall, this is an excellent monitor, I would recommend it to others.

A few weeks ago I bought this monitor from another online retailer. When I received it I hooked it up and discovered a stuck pixel, so I sent it back. They went out of stock so I requested a refund.... I thought I wouldn't find it for the same price that they offered it but I checked Amazon and this baby was on sale for 179.99 for about 12 hours or so. What a steal! I immediately ordered one. When I received it it was just as it should've been. You receive VGA and DVI cables and the monitor has outward facing sockets to reduce wire wear. The monitor has an HDMI socket as well. I am so far very pleased with my purchase as I doubt I will see this monitor again at that price for quite a while.

I was excited to purchase this monitor because of the high praise it has received. Unfortunately, my first one had a major issue with the LCD cover (not the LCD but the plastic covering the LCD) which created large blobs of color on the screen...this occurred about one month have purchase and HP replaced under warranty this first monitor. Now, after about two/three years (now out of warranty), the LCD has multiple very fine vertical lines running along the left and right sides of the monitor. I've done all of the tech work to determine if this was the monitor, the video card or the cable. It produces the same problem even on different computers so it is neither the video card or the cables...it is the monitor. From what I can tell, the monitor is beginning to die because I am seeing an ever increasing number of lines over time. They are quite distracting, especially when doing close fine photoediting...I can't tell what is the picture and what is the monitor. So, although I expect electronics to occasionally go bad, I've had two separate monitors of the same type now and must conclude the manufacturing and quality of this model are pretty poor.

I had to order this twice, the first one arrived via UPS damaged (in the same place that the shipping carton was damaged, no surprises here), but Amazon's warranty and exchange policy resulted in a quick return and re-sending a replacement. The screen is used with a Mac Mini for office-type applications, no gaming or intensely demanding graphics performance needed, but for me it is a brilliant, impressive screen. The info when ordering said it included a non-glare monitor face, which is mostly true although it is a glossy and not totally free of glare. It's fine, and many non-glare surfaces introduce a degree of grain, which this one happily does not demonstrate, so a good balance. The price between this and smaller versions was small so I got this size, but in retrospect a slightly smaller one might've been better, since emails and documents on this one are stretched wiiiiiiiiiiiiide and the print appears tiny (without zooming in, which is feasible for some but not all software). But it's a good screen, absolutely no complaints. Recommended.

Within minutes, the machine blue-screened and the harddrives were no longer found. My only conclusion is that this monitor is crashing the machines. I don't normally write bad reviews, but I am hoping that someone from HP will see this and help me out with my situation. I have two non-functional machines and a machine killing monitor. I would like to ship it back to them, so they can figure out why it has turned killer.

Actually a really great monitor when it isn't flickering. Monitor started flickering a short time ago. Definitely the monitor as I have 3 other similar monitors and tried it on two other computers (win7 and winxp) and same problem. If you leave it on for awhile it might stop flickering or you might have to cycle the power off/on. HP can't even tell me if the monitor is in warranty and won't even acknowledge that there is a problem with their monitors. They basically said I should just replace it or send it in to an HP repair center (at my expense) and if under warranty they will fix it. If not under warranty then will ship it back to me (at my expense again). I gave HP the model/serial number but does not even show up in their system and I bought it at a major retailer. I should have known better than to buy anything from HP as I've had similar results with some of their other products. I have learned my lesson this time and will never buy another HP product.

The battery lasts about 5 hrs (screen slightly dimmed). I like the square chiclet keyboard. Oh! and I also like how the ethernet and adapter port are hidden from sight so when you plug it in it is partially hidden and keeps it secure. Lastly, the power cord for this thing is a really good long distance compared to my old power cord which was really short. My 2 irritation is that the brightness function keys don't work :( .. and the touchpad is so sensitive that if my palm accidentally touches it, it will erratically move.

I double checked installation, cleaned, etc to no avail, the cartridge was not working and making a general mess on the paper. Tried the last "new" cartridge and it did the exact same thing. I was getting concerned that my printer was faulty at this point but put old cartridge back in and it printed correctly. I do not suggest buying these cartridges but if you must, check it out ASAP so you don't miss the return window like I did on the two I can't possibly use now. What a waste of money!

I paid around $230 for my HP 2159m several months ago and I believe it was a great deal at that price. This 21.5 inch monitor has the same resolution as many 23 inch monitors so it has more pixels-per-inch than most monitors which results in a sharper image. The 3000:1 contrast ratio appears low compared to some other monitors but I can tell you the image quality is excellent. My last monitor also had a 3000:1 contrast ratio and also had very good image quality so I believe that 3000:1 is a good design choice. The three most important numbers for monitor image quality are pixels-per-inch, contrast ratio, and response time. This monitor's stats are very good for this price. (Note that some numbers published for some monitors do not seem to hold up when you compare them at your local retailer.) The overall quality including general appearance of the unit is also excellent.I have used the HDMI connection to watch DVDs using an up-scaling DVD player (a sony DVP-NS710H) and I am generally satisfied with the results. The Sony is a very inexpensive up-scaling player so I had to play with its settings to get the best picture but once I did I was very pleased with the results. With movies like "Blade Runner" which are really hard on lower-end up-scaling DVD players because of its complex image dynamics (strongly back-lit scenes etc.) the contrasts in some scenes were not optimal. "Master and Commander" on the other hand looked great (except for one back-lit scene). It should be noted that various HDMI equipment can be a bit fussy about whether the source or the display should be turned on first in order for the two units to get in sync with each other. If you are having trouble getting the display to work with HDMI equipment try turning them on in the opposite order.Just for the record, I am happy with the Sony player. The fact that you can get an up-scaling player that works at all for around $70 is rather amazing, and I think that at that price the Sony DVP-NS710H is at least as good as any of its competition. Of course, if you can afford to drop $200 or more on a better player more power to you.I think the HP 2159m is a great monitor, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a monitor in this size/price range.Update 10-01-2009: I very recently picked up a used graphics card and during the process of matching the monitor and card settings to achieve the best image I discovered that the Sony player is probably doing a better job than I gave it credit for. The default brightness setting on the 2159m is 90% of full which was probably chosen for a brightly lit office environment. With the new (for me) graphics card (connected to the DVI-D input) and with the Sony DVP-NS710H (HDMI input) the best image (at least to my taste) was achieved by turning the 2159m's brightness either all the way down to zero or very near it, and setting contrast to maximum or close to it. With these monitor settings and Sony playback set to 'Dynamic 2' and 'Sharpness 2' the back-lit-scene problem was pretty much solved and the image brightness and color looked pretty good (using a Bladerunner DVD as the test). ((I also noticed that if I maxed out the 2159m's brightness, some video sources produced image defects similar, but probably to a lesser degree, to those the one-star reviewer talked about. It may be that whatever problems he had were made worse by a to high brightness setting.)) For the record I use the 2159m as a computer monitor under somewhat low, indirect lighting, and as a video display with lights out.Two caveats that apply to just about all monitors of this type: (1) The vertical viewing angle can have a significant effect on the image. This has been the case with every monitor of this type I have had experience with but has not been a problem in practice. (2) The glossy finish (if I may call it that) makes for a great look and a great image but if you are going to be using it in an environment with significant light sources positioned behind you in such a way as to produce a strong reflection on the monitor you may find it annoying.Overall I continue to give the HP 2159 very high marks. With the new graphics card and monitor settings my favorite computer game looks amazing, and desktop images etc. still look very good. With the DVD-player/Monitor-settings discussed above even the Bladerunner DVD looked pretty good, so any less demanding film (in terms of video dynamics) ought to look fine. I am not talking five-dollar-milkshake videophile quality here, I am saying that for the price of this equipment I am quite pleased with the results.Since I am not planning to write a separate review of the Sony DVD player I should say that the image quality on a large conventional TV was very good, the sound quality was surprisingly good, and all of its features that I have played with (JPEG display etc.) worked as advertised. As explained above I am generally pleased with the upscaling results I achieved in

I purchased two HP 2511x wide screens to replace my two old HP L1906 square screens. I chose these screens because the specs showed that I would be getting the same vertical size as my old screens and that they would simply be wider. This was exactly the case. Several people in my office have the 21" wide screens, but they appear squatty to me. These 25" wide screens are the perfect size. Actually they are wide enough to have a couple things running on them at the same time, so with two of them, I have enough display real estate to see a few programs at the same time. The color and clarity is amazing. I use the Windows 7 Desktop Background Slide Show with several landscape photos I have taken over the years, and I am seeing details in these photos that I never noticed before. Simply gorgeous. They are a glossy style screen (my old ones were the matte finish), so the pictures literally jump off the screen; however, watch out if reflection is going to be an issue (ie window behind you or major light source).Overall I am totally satisfied with these simply beautiful screens.

The HP 2511x is a basic 25-inch LCD with LED backlighting that most people will probably love. I've used a number of LCD screens for my desktop and laptop PCs (yes, sometimes it's nice to connect a laptop to a larger screen so you can see more). This 25-inch monitor gives you full 1080p resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) and uses a LED backlight that is not only energy efficient, it also makes the screen thinner and lighter than smaller screens with traditional CCFL backlights. In short, this LED LCD monitor is thin, light and it will help lower your energy bills. It's also really nice to use a 25-inch screen if you've been using a smaller display. The contrast ratio is very good (black looks BLACK and not charcoal like my old LCD). The default color setting is very saturated and slightly biased toward red/orange. This makes the 2511x great for watching movies or web videos but it means you'll really need to use a color calibrator if you plan to use this screen for color-critical photo/video editing. If you don't care about making sure colors on the screen look EXACTLY how they should look in real life then you'll LOVE the default colors from this monitor.I only have two complaints about the HP 2511x:1) There is no height adjustment so you will likely need to purchase a monitor stand in order to set the screen at the correct position for viewing without causing neck pain. HP really should have designed the stand so that you could raise the height at least another 6-8 inches.2) There is no VESA mount on the back of this LCD. That means you cannot mount this LCD on your wall or attach it to a multi-arm display stand. This is a common problem with budget LED LCDs (if you just put the VESA mount screw holes on a thin LED LCD you risk damaging the screen when you put the VESA mount screws into the back of the screen. HP could have fixed this by making the back slightly thicker for a VESA mount, but I'm sure HP assumes most people buying this screen don't care about VESA mounts and wanted to make this monitor as thin and light as possible.Overall, if you don't mind the lack of height adjustment and the inability to connect this to a separate display stand then the HP 2511x is a great monitor for your home computer.

I've used a 22 inch CRT monitor for years. I replaced it recently with this HP monitor and after fine tuning the different adjustments to my preference, I can say this monitor performs to my satisfaction. Sure, there is some difference between the "richness" of the CRT vs the LED, but for me it is not enough to dissuade me from recommending the HP monitor. The resolution for text is as good or better than it was on the CRT. I run Windows 7 and the OS detected and set up everything automatically (nice).

ASUS was too shiny and the controls are just a pain to adjust..This has a glossy screen but it's not super glossy like some monitors.. after looking at some matt screens that's hard to read because of the coating, the text looks so much more clear on this. It's a bit bright, but can be adjusted. unless light directly behind, the glossy screen is not too hard to adjust to. it's much better looking at this than a matt screen with distorted text.it reminds me of some high quality apple monitor when i looking at it in the store.. get this, you won't be disappointed.

A month or two after I received this monitor, it began going through a cycle of the menu flashing on and running through some of the options by itself, which then triggered the 'OSD Lockout' message. It would repeat this cycle several times and then stop for a while. I was just about to return it when the issue stopped. It was fine for 6 months, but started up again recently for no reason that I can discern and none of the 'fixes' I could find on the internet worked for longer than a few hours. The problem then became worse, in that the 'OSD Lockout' message would stay on the screen no matter what I did. I actually just pried the front off and broke out the menu button, which seems to have worked for now. Unfortunately, I accidentally broke the power button as well.I've had the monitor for slightly over 8 months and, given the preponderance of complaints I found about this issue online, I won't be buying another HP monitor. Ever.

I just picked up this monitor last night from best by on sale. I almost got the 2711x but after some of the reviews about bad text rendering I decided on the 2511x. I am a college student and do a lot of reading and software development on my screen so the text has to look good. I adjusted the settings to where another reviewer said and it looks great minus a few tweaks here or there. One thing to note I am using this as a second display off my laptop an hp dv7 and was noticing flickering on the web. It appears there's an issue with hardware acceleration in flash. Go to YouTube right click on a video select "settings" and un-check "enable hardware acceleration" this fixed it for me. I was a little thrown off because I was on a website that wasn't video based but there was a flash advertisement so it caused the screen to flicker. Just a heads up for you guys. The screen is ridiculously huge I can't imagine 2 side by side I may end up taking this back and getting 2 20" screens but I'll have to see.I will post more once I've had it for a while but first impressions are this monitor is sick

Ever since I bought my first widescreen LCD monitor, I have found it tedious to work with any other kind of monitor. Not only that, but somehow I find the need for bigger monitors every other year or so. Of course, that might have a lot to do with the fact that the prices on larger monitors keeps coming down to much more affordable prices.I work from home fairly often. My career in IT requires regular after-hours work and I am fortunate enough I can do most of that work remotely. Having a large widescreen monitor is nice because I often have multiple programs open that I need to see side by side, and tiling the windows on a large monitor means I can still see a good bit of each window. The HP 2511x 25-Inch LED Monitor boasts a really beautiful picture - the color and clarity is absolutely phenomenal. My sister takes tons of photos and videos of my 3-year-old niece and posts them on Picasa and they look marvelous on the HP 2511x monitor. Of course, pictures and videos of other people and things look equally great, but my niece is really the most important one...Setting up the monitor was easy. There are three pieces to put together if you want to use it on a desk and it took mere minutes to assemble it. Of course, if you want to hang it on a wall, you can do that as well, but I prefer the desk stand.Installing the monitor on my computers was a snap. HP includes a CD with drivers, manuals, and auto-adjustment tools. Most operating systems will install the driver without the CD, but it is good to have the driver on CD just in case. The auto-configuration pattern on the CD is made to run with the auto-adjustment button on the front of the monitor. Honestly, I could see no difference in color or picture after running this adjustment, but both were already very good before I performed this task. The buttons on the monitor are easy to use to control brightness, etc. The power button is also conveniently located which is nice for those of us who keep the monitor powered off when not using it.The monitor supports VGA, DVI-D, and HDMI. I have it connected to my PC using VGA currently and it works beautifully.I highly recommend the HP 2511x 25-inch LED monitor.

I had a smaller version of this monitor (HP 2009m), and based on my experience with it, I bought this. I love this monitor. For $199, great deal. I work from home as a graphic and web designer. Partnered with another monitor for a dual setup, this works great. I know, I know - there are professional grade monitors for designers, but in all honesty, a move like that is silly. I'd rather spend my money on a nice printer in order to see color accuracy. Granted those pro models have higher res, but when you have a dual monitor set up, this works just fine. My ONLY complaint is the power button tends to take a second, more deliberate push to turn the monitor on or off. Just leave it on, if you want - energy saving feature - and you'll avoid that nuance.

I bought this from Amazon, fast delivery. I have 6 monitors, this is by far the best. It has great color, crisp image. I love the glossy surface, makes the images more appealing. I would never buy another matte screen. The adjustment buttons are a little confusing at beginning as two buttons serve dual functions, task and up and down. Once you realized, it became intuitive. I recommend the settings to max. brightness, sharpness, full saturation and cool temperature. When I have warm temperature it is too red. Now it is perfect skin tone and color. Skin tone is the most important for most viewers. It is esential to get it right. This is the only monitor I am happy with the skin tone among the 6 other monitors I have. I strongly recommend and would rate it five star plus.I am a professional photographer. When the skin tone is right the glamour ladys are so lucious just as they should be. Like many, I was very confused and gun shy about buying a monitor after reading reviews on monitors here and elsewhere. I noticed a few weeks ago that Amazon lowered the price on this monitor by almost $100, so I took that as a sign, and I'm glad I did.Pros:-I'm one of those weird guys who like glossy screens. Everything on this monitor just 'pops' in a way a matte screen just can't.-This monitor is very thin and has a relatively small footprint. With a 1080p resolution, you can sit pretty close to the monitor without worrying about things getting too pixelated.-Very bright and colorful-I'm extremely vigilant about dead pixels, and I'm happy to report mine has none. :)-No light bleed on any edge with a completely black screen.-DVI and VGA cables included. (HDMI cable is not included, so you may want to pick one up if that's the way you want to roll.)-I was worried that the 5ms response time would not be good for games, but BF3 runs like butter with no ghosting.Cons:-I originally thought the monitor was broken since the screen was randomly dimming and going brighter in some games. Checking around, I noticed that Dynamic Contrast ratio was enabled. Turning that off brought things back to normal.-This is a very bright and colorful monitor, but almost to a fault. It has movie, text, photo, and game presets, but all of them looked overly-saturated and fake to me. Even using the manual adjustments didn't seem to tone down the contrast and brightness, so I simply used my Nvidia control panel to adjust my color settings. Problem solved.-The piano black enclosure and glossy screen can be a fingerprint and dust magnet. You've been warned. ;)When shopping, it was between this, an Asus, and Samsung montior. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase. Now we'll see how well it stands the test of time...

This monitor works beautifully. Nice color, okay stand, good gloss, but there is one problem. This monitor is bright enough to be used as a lamp. Upon turning down the brightness, you will be greeted with a screen that flickers like none other. Many people seem to be immune to this effect, although if you have problems with 60Hz CRT monitors you will hate this one. It is manageable with contrast changing and software-based screen dimmers but doing this greatly limits the color range (and usually doesn't work in full screen, so you get blinded occasionally). So, if you have problems with 60Hz CRT monitors, please pick a different monitor.

First, the monitor quality is just ok. I didn't expect much because I was getting it for a relatively cheap price so I can't complain about that.Second, the customer service at Computer Geeks leaves a lot to be desired. After reading two reviews of the product indicating that the item comes with a VGA/DVI adapter and or DVI/VGA cables (due to the two DVI inputs), I contacted the company to ensure this was the case, and not just them puffing up their own product on the review site. They assured me it did. It did not. It came with one DVI cable. Then, when I was able to purchase the additional equipment to get it working, it had a large discoloration in the top left corner. Upon seeing this I investigated into the return policy to learn that the near $25 it cost me to ship it would not be refunded nor be included in my credit. Not only that, but the $25 it would cost me to send it back would also not be refunded nor a apart of my credit. So, what I end up having is the choice of keeping a shoddy $100 monitor OR paying nearly $50 (two shipping costs) to replace it with one that may turn out worse. And if that second monitor appeared equally defunct, my option would then be to fork out another $25 in shipping, bringing my shipping total to $75 on a $100 monitor. That, of course, assumes they do not charge me to ship it back to me (though I wouldn't put it past them). If they charged to send me the working one, I would have to pay $75 in shipping to get my monitor replaced once ($25 to me; $25 to return to them; and $25 back to me) in shipping or 75% of the monitor's overall value.I have informed Computer Geeks of the monitor discoloration so I hope they see this review and attempt to rectify this situation without it costing me an additional 50% to 75% of the monitor's value in shipping.

I just received this monitor yesterday (purchased from Amazon), and so far, I have NO complaints about it. I will be sure to update this review if I discover something negative. For the moment, though, I only have great things to say about it, for example, it was extremely easy to hook up & start using! Just keep in mind, you need to install the software CD-Rom *BEFORE* you hook the monitor up. So, if you choose to buy this monitor (or any new monitor), you'll want to leave your current (old) monitor plugged in while you install the new software...THEN unplug the old one & hook up the new one. ;) Besides that, this monitor's base came in 2 pieces which easily snap in place. No tools needed. It comes with a couple of different cables which are used to plug into your computer, but it also has an HDMI input. HDMI cable is not included, but I would highly recommend you get one because it definitely helps bring out the monitor's full potential! I bought the AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable (6.5 Feet/2.0 Meters) - Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return [Newest Standard]. This cable works great & costs less than $10.00.This monitor is very light, easy to adjust, and has user-friendly controls in the bottom-right edge of the screen. However, I have not even needed to adjust the color or anything....I simply plugged it into the back of my computer with the HDMI cable, and it has looked awesome since it was turned on! Highly recommended for watching movies, too! I have a Netflix account, and have already watched a couple movies on this beautiful 25" screen. Very nice!! :)Also, the price ain't bad! ;)As mentioned before, I will update this review if I find any negatives, but so far, I would absolutely recommend this monitor!!

Now that every possible other thing has gone through trouble shooting, it has been determined that the sound card (which is part of my main board) is the problem. That's just the way it sounds. It's worse than a transistor radio with a 1" speaker. Even through headphones and external speaker systems. These speaker systems sound beautiful when connnected to other computers or an iPod.I am now stuck - HP won't do anything about it and the seller can't either. A reall bummer if you enjoy listening to music through your computer.I have had several other laptops and the sound was always excellent on Dell & Toshiba. I did not purchase "music" models before; I've always had just a basic laptop for personal and business use. So it's not like the others were souped up for music - they all had decent sound cards. Nice touch. The VGA cable was defective, cause it to cycle from correct color to too blue. A StarTech VGA cable fixed that, and gave better performance, too. This is an excellent monitor from HP, especially given that Amazon had the lowest price anywhere. I fell like I got an excellent deal on this monitor. I've been using an old 22" Dell monitor with a built in web-cam for the last four years with a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050, so I decided to upgrade and get a full HD monitor. The Dell monitor has been excellent and I plan on using it as a second monitor, this HP monitor definately deserves to take center stage and not just because it is quite a bit larger, I honestly didn't think 3" would make a difference, but it adds a great deal of screen area. Although people have mentioned the glare from the screen, I didn't have any problems with it, but I also don't have any light that is going to reflect back at me from it. The color uniformity was excellent and it arrived without any dead pixels, something I can't say for the Dell monitor, although I managed to fix those and have not had any problems since I got it. I am excited to use the HP monitor for photo editing and gaming. The only thing I will miss on the HP is the webcam and the USB ports that are built into the Dell, but for the excellent value of the HP monitor I can just purchase a web-cam and today's computers have more than enough USB ports unlike when I got the Dell monitor. It was nice that the monitor came with the DVI cable I prefer to use, the other included cable is a VGA cable.Overall, I am glad I finally upgraded and I really hope this monitor turns out to be as reliable as the Dell, only time will tell. Not to mention Amazon sent this monitor in another big box with packing paper, so even if your local delivery driver chucks it towards your door,it would probably survive, ;-).

It's not perfect, but it's still very good._________________Strengths:* Full 1920 x 1080 resolution. That's HD quality. This gives you plenty of workspace room.* Great color fidelity. The first thing I did after I plugged this monitor in was to calibrate the color. I was pleasantly surprised that the corrected setting was almost identical to the stock colors. Very nice.* For such a large display I'm really surprised how thin this display is. It's about half as thick as the Dell monitor at my office.* Cables included. This monitor came with a VGA cable and a DVI cable. That's really great. Unfortunately the interface I wanted to use (HDMI) wasn't included. Oh well.* The stand is very substantial, but not too bulky.* Excellent controls. Most display controls irk me to no end. Which button does what? But the controls on this monitor are very intuitive._________________Weaknesses:* No USB ports. I've used other large monitors that have built in USB hubs. A couple of USB ports would have been nice.* No webcam. I didn't really expect a webcam, but a couple of the people I've shown it to have remarked that they would have expected an integrated camera.* Only 1920 x 1080 resolution: Sure it's great that it provides full HD resolution, but for a monitor this large it would have been great if it was even higher res. For a display this large, it would have been great to use a higher resolution and add even more room to the desktop. Instead, the picture is just larger. That's great, but more screen real estate would have been even better. All in all I shouldn't complain about any of the weaknesses. This is really a great monitor and a great price point.
