I have a larger Samsung screen that has better specs than this one but I like this one better in several ways. The images are crystal clear and have a depth my other screen does not. It was also half the price. I highly recommend the HP 2009M.

I have always had good luck with HP products. Their 20" LCD monitor with 1600 x 900 pixels has cleared up my desk space and provided me with a clear wide display. Priced at $149 it is a bargain. Love it.

I held off on this monitor because I couldn't really tell how it would compare against some of the other good deals out there. Well, I think that this monitor compares quite favorably to my 4:3 LCD monitors from Viewsonic, Hanns-G and Samsung. A little adjustment to the settings and colors pop off the screen. Blacks are very black. Grays are gray and not color tinted. The glossy screen finish is not a problem with reflections for me in a sunny room. I use my own settings, not the 5 optimized presets for movies, photo, text, etc. Nor did I load the HP software. Just downloaded the latest drivers before connection and XP did the rest. I am using the included DVI cable. Backlight bleed is minimal, only around the edges, and not a problem for me.Love the deluxe stand and USB ports. Not using speakers. Very much enjoyed watching a DVD with my Surround Sound.The only negative is that there is a limited vertical viewing angle. Contrast changes as you move out of the sweet spot. This may be why one of the other posters noted a difference between the top and bottom of the screen. If I get close enough to the screen to where there is a difference in viewing angle from top of the screen to bottom of the screen, (about 15"), I could notice some difference on a gray scale test pattern. I know that it is caused by viewing angle because the gray density changes as I move my head. This is not a problem, or even noticeable), for most PC applications. If you run it as a TV and view from different vertical angles or move around the room, you may find it noticeable.Overall, this is a minor issue to me. The Vivid Colors and sharp images more than make up for vertical viewing angle. I think that this is the best monitor I own. I gave 5 stars.

This monitor has a great picture and works flawlessly with my MacBook. The 16:9 aspect is perfect for watching DVDs and hulu.com. The design is slick and modern, and the glossy screen is vibrant. For under $150.00 how can you go wrong?The built in speakers are a little quiet, but better than my notebook's built in speakers.When connecting with a Mac, I recommend turning the monitor's auto sleep function off, as it would sleep before I could get my Mac to output video.

This LCD monitor is just what the doctor ordered...the screen is bright, crisp and just simply good....the glossy screen is just what I have been looking for to render good color saturation.....I would recommend it highly!!Update: March 31, 2010I bought another unit of the LCD and it just died suddenly....while it maybe a nice monitor...the quality may have to be questioned....it just stopped working in less than 2 weeks of use....this is BAD!!!

I wasn't sure about getting a widescreen monitor at first but I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The monitor was just as described on the website and I am so happy with it. I would recommend this product for anyone. We opened the box and set it up, no problems. I believe it even got here a little ahead of schedule.

I purchased this monitor to go with my MacPro 15" laptop. Because of all the great Amazon reviews, I was all ready to buy a Samsung for about $100 more, but when I saw how crisp and clear my boss's HP display was I changed my mind and purchased the HP L2208w. I love it! The color is a little cooler than my laptop display but it's totally adjustable through the Monitor>Color>Calibration>Advanced control panel. The display is crisp with full color and saturation ranges and nice deep blacks for photograph editing. It took about 3 minutes to get it out of the box, plugged in and in use. At first I used it in duel monitor mode with my laptop but now, most of the time I just leave my laptop closed and use the HP as my sole monitor. It coordinates nicely with my laptop and Apple keyboard too. The only thing I don't like about it is the adjustment controls. I can't actually see any labels or icons on them to give a clue what does what, though I think they are there, they're so faint I can't see them. That said, there are an ABUNDANCE of adjustments you can make, everything you can thing of, and if you click around enough, you'll eventually get it exactly where you want it. It's a really great monitor at a fantastic price and I couldn't be happier with it.

This is a great monitor. I can't believe how crips the color is compared to my other older monitors. I don't use the speakers so can't speak to them, but this is so much easier on my eyes that I actually bought a second I wasn't planning on buying.

I bought this monitor a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't try it until a few days ago for the SVGA cables gave me big troubles. With a good quality cable, now I'm enjoying the bright, crystal-clear colors of this monitor. The LCD panel size and the native resolution is optimum in my opinion. I strongly recommend this LCD monitor.

This is an Excellent Monitor! The screen is HUGE compared to what I was used to and the adjustment capability is superb(mine is set at cool). It's an HP product so the design and construction are top rate(my last monitor was also an HP). My only wish would be to add 1 more input with the VGA input but the price cannot be beat as is. It is simple and sweet for the basic computer. I would have rated this product as 5 stars but I have not put it through it's paces yet with DVDs and gaming sessions. Definitely a 5 star product so far! Heck with it, 5 it is!

I use about 4 of these sets per year. The Inkjet Print Cartridges, are of course, very high quality. There are two main reason I bought these on Amazon: One is because of the price and, Two is because of the free shipping. The bonus reason is because at Office Max, on their OfficePerk program, they will give you $3 credit for each empty cartridge. So for me, after using 12 cartridges, I'll have $36 credit toward more cartridges, or any other item I should need.

Have been using for about a year now. I love this monitor! The "quickview" button on the front of the monitor lets you quickly toggle between different color/brightness settings - great for switching between gaming, movie and internet profiles. Screen seems to refresh quickly - have not noticed any blurry motion during high speed scenes on my movies. Nice depth of color - blacks are black and whites are white. The 22" screen is great - you'd be surprised how much more enjoyable it is to have so much more on your screen (less scrolling). If this one died on me I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with the same model.

I just love this monitor! I have a smaller monitor at work, and really miss the extra screen space available, 1680x1050 is just a LARGE screen. I can really get a lot of windows/information in there, and with a two-port USB hub, it's just icing on the cake by bringing adding a more convenient place to add USB drives, and not requiring you to have the case next to the monitor and/or having to access inconveniently placed (rear) USB ports.Another one of the reasons I purchased this is that it can be "rotated" and becomes a 1050x1680 monitor, making it just the best monitor to use when working with documents, allowing you to see the whole page. I also use it as an entertainment display with a computer and a DVD-ROM drive, it is just awesome to watch movies. The colors are great, and it doesn't miss a beat compared with any HDTV.

I had been running a dual-monitor setup with a 19" LCD as the primary and a 20.5" widescreen to the side. I was looking for something with the same resolution as my existing widescreen but with close to the pixel pitch of the 19" (my middle-aged eyes like a little bigger pixel). I looked at a lot of 22" widescreen monitors but kept coming back to the W2207. I loved the elegant look and the crisp image (made crisper because the screen does not have a non-glare surface, not a problem for my set up but if you sit with a window behind you it could be a drawback).Most of all, though, I love the stand. It's the best stock stand of any monitor I've ever seen. It adjusts easily in the ways you want a stand to adjust and, by virtue of the unusual "deep hinge" design, gives you plenty of room under the monitor for stashing desk items, snacks, small animals, etc. (There is a depressed tray molded into it to keep pens and such from rolling away - nice attention to detail that.)I saw a couple of reviews that commented on uneven illumination of the screen. That is, the screen appears darker toward the edges. However, I don't find that to be the case from a normal viewing distance and vertical angle. It is a big screen, though, and if you put your face six inches away from it, sure it will look darker at the edges - just a function of viewing angle. (It's amazing how much bigger 22" looks compared to the 20.5" sitting next to it.)I'm currently running it from the analog output of my video card (it's an older card with one DVI and one VGA output and I was too lazy to change the cable on the other monitor - I plan to upgrade to a dual DVI soon anyway). Even with just an analog signal it looks great, with one caveat: it's more sensitive at the analog input than my old 19" and sometimes picks up some faint crosstalk from the other channel. (I paniced when I first saw it, thought I had a bad monitor, then I realized what I was looking at.) A better quality card, or just going all digital should avoid that.To sum up: Text is clear and crisp, color rendition is good enough for photo work(calibrated it with a Pantone Huey), it's bright (too bright out of the box), looks good with good ergonomics (and that wonderful stand).

Most monitors look great for movies and pictures.What about for spreadsheets, word processing, and reading web pages?Outside of native resolution, which I find too small for extended use, most monitors are unpelasant to use. The wide screens in particular tend to have distorted fonts, depending on the setting.I tried several monitors at home, including the Smasung 226BW (comparable in price) and Samsung 832B (low end). The HP was so much better it was like comparing a professional piece of equipment with some 2nd rate crap.1. In naive resolution, which I generally consider too small (for my tired old post 40 eyes), I was able to use this. No other monitor I tried can I use in native resolution.2. Even outside of native resolution I found this easier on the eyes. I have it set to 1400 x 900 which is not quite crisp but still acceptable.3. for spreadsheets and text its quite good.4. the contrast was excellent, vastly superior to the Samsung monitors. I turned the brightness down a little, to 70, and its fine. Thats much better than the 0 setting on teh Samsung.5. the stand is excellent, it pivots, raises up and down, and you can rotate the monitor into portrait mode from land scape and its ok.6. It has 2 USB ports on the side, and a good cable management system to keep the cords off the desk. It also has a place to put the keyboard (under the monitor, on the stand, when the keyboard is not in use.It contains speakers, but I didn't hook them up since I have better independent speakers.The only minor negative is the viewing angle is limited when in portrait mode, from the left, the screen will rapidly darken. This is not a big deal as its fine if you look head on.Maybe the anti-refelective screen would be a problem in some environments, but its ok in my office.This is far and away the best monitor I've worked with. There is no 2nd choice in contention.

I bought this as a desktop add-on to an HP zd8000 lap top. The good things are that this monitor is nice and bright, it's attractive, and colors are generally pretty good. It also blends aesthetically with other HP equipment. The mechanical design of the stand and the monitor for rotating are simple, functional and excellent. The monitor's electronic menu and controls are acceptable, but do not provide a wide range of adjustment, and it's not the highest resolution available. Once again, for my work, the resolution is adequate for me to read comfortably without glasses, but the portrait and landscape modes help terrifically.The only flaw I've seen in two weeks is that it seems to be succeptible to power fluctuations in the a/c outlet it's plugged in it which cause flickering horizontal lines. I thought the problem looked like "noise" in the a/c line, but called HP tech support anyway. We spent two hours "fiddling" with software settings and replaced drivers on the computer several times, but to no avail. The problem was minimized by changing the daisychain of plugs and cords from the outlet to the a/c power brick of the computer, which HP didn't discover -- I did. If you disconnect the computer from A/C power, the problem goes away completely.I really like the design and rotational aspects of my monitor for my job of writing and proofreading complex legal documents. Succeptibility to flicker from power supply noise is aggravating but can be mitigated.5 stars for the design, including USBs on the frame of the monitor, and 3 stars for execution equals an average of 4 stars.ADDENDUM -- I corrected the flickering problem by plugging the monitor and laptop docking station into different power sources.

I was a little hesitant at first prior to purchasing this monitor since I've heard of some folks having some issues with windows XP. Not to mention that my current desktop is a 3-year old Sony VAIO computer. However, I took the jump and purchased this monitor and I can say that honestly, I have had no issues whatsoever with this monitor and I am simply amazed at the quality of the display!I simply used the included DVI cable and plugged the monitor in and went into the control panel on my desktop to adjust the screen resolution to 1680 X 1050. I tweaked the contrast, color and brightness a little bit and that was it. I did not use the audio plug to use the monitor speakers as I have external speakers that I wanted to use separately, so I can't comment on the quality of the monitor's built in speakers. Also, I did NOT load any of the included software as everything worked fine without it!I have no regrets with purchasing this monitor as the quality is simply AWESOME! If you're wondering about my system specs, they are:System: Sony VAIO VGC-RA825GY Pentium 4 3.6 GHz/2 GB RAM/250 GB hard driveVideo card: 256 mb Nvidia GeForce 7900GTOS: Windows XP media center editionLastly, for the price, you simply can't beat it!

This is a beautiful monitor that fully meets my expectations. The monitor was easy to set up and no adjustments were necessary to get an excellent image with my new HP Pavilion m9252p computer. The package comes with an instruction manual and set-up CD but it was not necessary because everything worked well right out of the box. I have not found a problem with unwanted reflection from the shiny glass surface, but I think it could be a legitimate concern. One nice feature is a pair of brackets on the support that manage all the cables for the unit. There are four cables to organize including the DVI, power, USB and speaker cables. The monitor will rotate from landscape to portrait orientation but it is somewhat awkward to do with all the cables attached. This model has been replaced by a new model HP w2207h and I could not find any information about the difference with my model the HP w2207. From what I have seen, the difference may be the addition of a jack for HDMI on the new version. I bought the monitor because I got a super price of approximately $250 plus $27 S&H. That is a price comparable to some obscure brands that are commonly sold.

In summary, if you feel lucky, get the monitor. It has a good display and a reasonable price. But pray that you don't have to deal with HP customer service. (see follow up comments below- things didn't get better)I purchased a w2207 about two months ago. I was very happy with the monitor (aside from the not-even-ready-for-beta buggy "HP My Display" software), until I had a problem: My monitor display became "washed out" and, despite every remedy feasible (all adjustments, re-installing drivers / software, resetting factory settings, etc.), I couldn't get it corrected.After spending over an hour on a chat session with an overseas tech, he still didn't understand my problem (to the point where I would have to repeat things I had already typed. Now he has it in writing 3 times...). After giving up, he was going to email some articles which "might help". Well, the only email I got from HP was apologizing for "dropping our chat session", which I had terminated. No info, no log, no follow-on.BUT, there was a link to email them with more questions! You just have to select your hardware first... hmm... I guess they don't recognize their own hardware, because w2207 came up as "not listed." So, I looked at the list... There were no monitors over 20", and no widescreen monitors. How old is this list? Now I can't send them an email through this channel (of course, I could pick another piece of hardware to get it to go through).This has been a comedy of errors on HP's part. I've had equally frustrating dialogs (or monologues?) with them in the past. They should take their customer service model from companies like Canon or Verizon, both of which I've been very impressed with. (My new printer is a Canon, because of experiences I've had with HP customer service)A side note for any HP employees reading... what happened to the old HP? The respected company who made the hardware (computers, printers, calculators, test equipment) everyone wanted? I'm afraid they've become just another poor quality mass produced commodity, no longer differentiated from the herd.

I bought this LCD monitor to replace a fully functional HP L1720 display. Let's start at the beginning:First, the monitor was well-packed. Setup was very easy. I used the DVI connector. XP SP3 recognized the new monitor and after tweaking my nVidia display settings to match the HP's recommended resolution, I was in business!The monitor is very bright and clear. I find this panel easier to read than the typical LCD monitor lacking the BrightView feature. Text is crisp and I am able to play games without any discernable negative effects.The size is sufficient to slightly increase productivity. For example, in Word, you can display multiple pages in full size without having to scroll.The only bad thing about this monitor is the speakers. I have mine set to volume level 65 just to be able to hear sound (and the volume in Windows is cranked up to max). I recommend using external speakers if you get this monitor.Overall, this is a great buy. Watch the price for deals.

Pros:* very accurate color and sharp text* small dot pitch (0.255mm) for fine grain photos.* really wide view angle, almost like a CRT monitor* enough DVI,VGA cables to hook up two computersCons:* not very good for playing DVDs, noticeable lags.* extremely heavy* the monitor panel is not horizontally level when sitting on the base. The left side is lower than the right side. The rotatable part seems not accurately adjusted. Will call support to fix this.

The HP W2207 22" LCD Monitor was just what I was looking for and then some. I haven't spent the time yet to get the rotation to Portrait mode set up, but that's just a bonus feature for me to use when editing portrait oriented Photos. The monitor is bright, clear and is very sharp with good resolution. This monitor replaced a 15" non-widescreen HP monitor that I liked very much. The only thing that I have been disappointed about is the instructions for setting up the auto rotate feature to allow me to switch between landscape and portrait orientation and vice versa.I'd recommend this monitor to anyone who needs a large monitor, especially for editing photos.
