This monitor is worth every penny. The HD clarity is outstanding. At 20", the monitor allows viewing most documents and spreadsheets without having to scroll left and right. Having some visual difficulty after recent medical treatments, this monitor has been amazingly helpful to me.

This is my first flat panel screen, so I don't have much to compare it to besides the other monitors I've seen in the stores. Once I saw this one, though, that was it for me. It's absolutely gorgeous. I love how versatile the stand is - you can raise and lower the monitor, tilt it a bit, and also move it forwards and backwards. There's plenty of space underneath for placing documents that you might need to refer to while you're using it.I'm discovering that the "pivot" feature of this monitor is worth every last penny that I paid for it. Until I started using the monitor this way, I never realized the percentage of time it was more convenient to see the screen in portrait view rather than landscape view. The monitor is a typical widescreen but if you turn it 90 degrees, the monitor software will AUTOMATICALLY readjust the display accordingly. Now you have a "portrait" view where the screen is short horizontally but quite long vertically. It's fantastic for designing portrait-oriented powerpoint presentations because now the slide can take up most the screen (ditto for word documents and PDF files). Your web browser will automatically adjust web pages within the browser to accommodate the long format as well. And whenever you need landscape view again, rotate the monitor back 90 degrees and its in landscape mode again. Sweet!!! You can even tilt the top of the monitor back just slightly when its in this "elongated" mode which makes for very easy reading.My big pet peeve with the monitor is the layout of the menu and option buttons. As other reviews have noted, the manual and setup guide is pretty useless. So one would inevitably start by pressing the menu button on the monitor to see what it does. Problem is, if you hit the menu button twice, your screen will go black, because the very first option in the menu list is to output to another screen (I about had a heart attack the first time this happened). You have to cycle through several options with the menu button to get your screen back and to use the + and - keys to move to other options such as brightness and contrast. Don't rely on the 2 USB ports in the monitor for too much, either, because they aren't powered. They're just extensions of the USB port on the back of your PC. If you're putting a whole system together, whatever you do, get some decent external speakers, because the ones on the monitor sound like tin cans.Imagewise, however, the monitor is a beauty. I have been very pleased with it. Some have noted that the monitor software is buggy and doesn't automatically handle the 90 degree adjustment of the monitor. I had a different problem and the support tech sent me to the HP website to get version 1.3 of the software, which so far has performed flawlessly. If your cd came with anything less, you might want to do the same.

He querido cambiar este monitor por uno mas nuevo, pero cada vez que busco algo mejor,no es posible allar lo, este monitor es simplemente espectacular, su dise?o elegante, la calidad de los colores, la definicion, no tienen presedente, yo fui fiel comprador de Viewsonic pero despues de comprar este HP, no creo volver a comprar otra marca que no sea esta, almenos en este modelo de monitor, el cual he recomendado a todos mis amigos y clientes.Excelente Monitor

This product is a great upgrade from the HP W1907. The main differences other than the obvious size difference is that these come with HDMI and VGA inputs instead of the DVI and VGA inputs.This unit does not come with any HDMI to DVI or VGA to DVI adaptors.Setup is easy, the screens are bright and uniform (I have 3), and the menus function the same as the HP W1907.They do have the "Plasma TV like" BrightView/Crystal View/TruLife type screen, so they are not anti glare, but their color is rich. I prefer this surface over the normal anti glare that you see on most LCD monitors today but would not recommend them for locations that get a lot of direct sunlight on the screen itself.

I purchased the new HP 2009M monitor for my wife's Mother's Day gift. It replaced a 5-year old 17" LCD monitor and is so much brighter, sharper, and higher resolution that there is no comparison. My wife's hobby is digital photography and she loves the widescreen format and 1600 x 900 resolution when working in Adobe Photoshop. We set up the new monitor at noon on Mother's Day and she enjoyed it so much she barely left the computer the rest of the day. Besides the obvious quality, the HP was much more reasonably priced than comparable 20-21" monitors by other manufacturers. Would highly recommend this model.

A dramatic improvement over my last LCD monitor, this one has a really sharp picture and like that it comes with self adjust software.The product has all cables included - you can disregard my forum post below - DVI, VGA, power, and audio.I use external speakers so can't confirm or deny other comments on the speakers. This review is for the image only. The screen is highly reflective, I can see my image pretty clearly when the screen is black, but this is not a concern for me.

Is anybody else bothered that the rear case of this monitor is 1/4 inch larger than the screen. The case sticks up all along the top. This looks to me to be a design flaw. I can't believe they did this just so the power light is visible. I like the monitor otherwise. I plan to buy an HP system too so I am stuck with this (if I want the names to match).

If, like me, you use this with a Windoze laptop that has a screen resolution different from the 1680x1050 that this monitor INSISTS on using then you are in for some occasional trouble. The problem is that, even if it can display the resolution that the Windoze box comes up with, it will only do so for a few minutes. After that it pops up a message saying "going to sleep" and does. I would like to throttle the self satisfied little twerp who decided this was a good solution. So if your idiot MS software engineer can't find the screen in time to set the graphics card resolution then the monitor runs off in a huff and won't talk to you.Pick a decent monitor, I highly recomend Samsung.

Great monitor, does not overheat if you use it for many hours. Easier to clean than other monitors and big enough to run multiple windows.Volume won't get too high, if music is important to you consider adding external speakers.

Nice monitor, but HP has very poor tech support. I spent over three hours trying to get authorization to have the monitor this was to replace returned for repair while still under warranty. My recommendation is look for another brand with better tech support. Stay away from HP.

One reviewer, M. Gunderson "Electronics geek," says this computer has the capability to be pivoted and used in portrait/vertical position although they "haven't tried it yet." I cannot find anywhere in the technical details on Amazon or HP.com that this computer can be used in portrait orientation. Can anyone who has this computer confirm whether or not it has this capability? (Please disregard the star rating I provided; a rating was required in order to send this).

You are truly spoiled with this flat screen monitor- it has nice features, resolution & just perfect for everyday use. WOW what a diffence! I wanted an external additional monitor for my HP laptop. After a lot of research I finally decided that for the price and what I wanted, to buy this one. The colors are excellent, especially compared side by side with the laptop. The blacks are very black, writing is sharp and clear on it. I've watched a Blu-ray movie on it as well and that was very sharp and clear as well. I use it as a dual monitor especially for photo applications and it is great for that. It allows for portrait style viewing as well but I have not tried that so can't comment on it. Very nice monitor at a reasonable price.

I purchased this monitor as a replacement for an old CRT being used by my 76 year old father. I was initially concerned about the picture quality when not using the default resolution. We changed the resolution to enable him to see the screen better and the picture quality remained great. You have to be sure to change the resolution at a proportional rate. Speakers are so so but for a 76 year old using skype it works.

A good deal nice quality but two big negatives:1) No HDMI input2) It does 720p resolution not full HD 1080pIf you do not care about these two issues it is a good deal.Also I do not use the speakers I have external ones so I cannot comment on the monitor's spearker quality.

I needed to replace an older HP 21" I passed to my daughter. In looking through the choices, I reviewed the 23" HP, but settled on this smaller footprint model. I just received it. Stunning quality with my nVidia 9650 video card. The sound probably isn't Bose quality, but for us folks with human ears, sounds fine to me playing rock and roll - loud. Set up is a Forrest Gump simple 5 minutes or less. Open box $186 with free shipping. Like James Brown said - "I feel good."

I waited and waited to replace my old ball and chain monitor. Purchasing the hp 2009m has made the wait well worth it, and was very affordable. The speakers are on the quiet side, but I just use my own desktop speakers anyways. And every time the monitor starts up there is this annoying little box that tells you what your settings are, it doesn't stay up long, but it gets in the way of the windows start up password enter screen. Again pretty minor stuff given this brilliant picture quality, energy star rated, money, and space saving product. It easily holds its own against most 200-300 dollar priced monitors. Overall great value and performance!

I've tried every conceivable substitute and refill for these cartridges and nothing works as well with my printer as these. Of course that's my printer and my work load. Your experience with aftermarket substitutes may be entirely satisfactory and I don't want to infer subs don't work for others. Just my two cents worth. You save a few (very few) bucks buying combos and that's why I do it.

Pros: Picture is sharp and clear. Makes playing videos and movies like watching in a theater.Cons: Although the monitor has its own speakers, it is NOT possible to play sound through the monitor AND my computer's 2.1 speakers at the same time. When I talked to Customer Service of HP before buying the product, they told me I could.Also, tech support of HP is a joke.

Based on the other review, I ordered this monitor. No setup problems and I'm able to adjust the contrast and brightness to suit my light-sensitive eyes. So I'm a happy camper :).Update - one year after purchase, I'm still very happy with this monitor.

This is a great monitor. The picture is clear and bright. The speakers are actually pretty good. They are great for listening to music and watching videos. Now I don't need to buy speakers. I wish the resolution was 1920x1080, but 1600x900 is fine. I definitely recommend this monitor.

I have loved this monitor since I saw it in the box. Widescreen, HD, great picture, can't be beat for the price. I haven't used the speakers, but who really uses speakers that come with their monitor? I mean, it has speakers if you are one of those people, I guess. Just another reason to get it if you're looking to upgrade your monitor. Don't know how I lived w/out this before I got it.

I read many reviews for this and other monitors. I decided on the HP215M 21.5 inch HD LCD Monitor and have not regretted it. The delivery was quick, and the setup was truly plug and play. After a month the brightness and clarity of the screen still amazes me. I would purchase it again if I needed another screen. I am looking forward to splitting the view so I can have 2 programs open on the screen side-by-side.

I paid more for this monitor because I had to have it the same day, having gone to work one morning to find my other monitor completely dead. I WISH I could have ordered from Amazon, because no one else seems to offer the $30 rebate!I studied the reviews here on Amazon and decided on a Gateway monitor with the rotating screen. No stores had it. The salesperson where I bought the HP said you had to go to 24" to get the rotating screen. As soon as I pulled mine out of the box and saw the double-hinged stand, I knew this one would rotate, too. Yay!The reason I chose the HP -- besides it matched my HP Media Center Tower (not really my main reason, but a factor) -- is that of all the glossy screen monitors I looked at with the same refresh rate and resolution, the HP was th ONLY one with a height-adjustable stand. All the others had tilt only. As I thought it through, I realized I had adjusted the height of my chair and keyboard to match my old monitor, because it wouldn't adjust to me--only trouble was that left me touching the floor with my tiptoes all day long.When I first started using it, I was disturbed that black text on white wavered between black and green. I'd failed to double check the front panel pushbutton settings after finishing the physical desk placement. To change between movie | photo | gaming | text | custom, you push one button (marked with a + sign) to bring up the choices, and push it again to change your choice. Then push the Select button to set the choice. Now it's perfect, and I remembered to change it when watching video clips. You don't have to, but you get even better quality by setting it for what you're doing.The wide screen is fantastic in business. You can see your Quickbooks check register and reconciliation sheets side by side! Copy from one doc to another in full size. Refer to one website in full size while researching something on another.Very good value for the money.PS: The negative point I read over and over about the Gateway monitor I first chose was that it had only a 1-year warranty. Well, so does this one! I purchased two more years because I need a monitor all day every day.

I have been browsing for well over 9 months for a monitor to replace the HUGE 19 inch CRT monitor I was using for my business as a professional photographer. After deciding that I could not afford a monitor that cost twelve hundred dollars I looked for alternatives. I was shocked and surprised that out of all the so call professional brand monitors and consumer monitors that this monitor had the best net wide reviews. (excluding the super expensive ones). For just over $300 I decided it was worth the risk.I am NOT disappointed. When I took it out of the box I was shocked at the lack of packing. It had formed fitted Styrofoam at top and bottom but nothing in between other than a thin piece of card stock over the monitor to protect from scratches. It's footprint is so much smaller than the old CRT monitors I have had. I gained almost 8x22 inches of desk space.Setup was easy to plug in. Right now my current video card does not have dvi (next upgrade on the list) so I hooked up the monitor via VGA. Once I installed the included drivers and tweaked the video card output the aspect radio was perfect.Windows XP does have a problem with background stretching for this monitor. You may want to make a custom background to make it look right. I ran HUEY a color calibrator and it is just as good if not better than my CRT. MUCH MUCH cooler in temp and the space saved it wonderful.I have edited a few portrait sessions and have had really good results. I am looking forward to album layout with this monitor. Having a two page fit completely on the screen at 75% instead of 10% is going to make a huge difference.The monitor does have a slight amount of washout on the right hand side that I noticed during calibration. It does not hinder my editing at all. I believe it is from the lighted power button on the top of the monitor. I don't notice it at all unless I am calibrating blacks.If you are into photography and you are on a limited budget. This is the monitor for you as of this moment. That may change over time but for now and for just over $300. This, in my opinion, is the best.

I bought this monitor as a second monitor for my computer. I already have a Samsung 22" and was about to buy another one but when I saw the price of this monitor, I thought I would try it out.I have to say this monitor is fantastic. The picture is clear and sharp. And the best part is that I have my cable box HDMI output to go into HDMI input of this monitor through a switcher. So now I can switch between cable TV and my second monitor without any trouble, and since the input is HDMI, I get sound too without any additional setup.

I have had my share of computers and monitors and the HP w2207 is by far the best monitor I have ever owned. The clarity is awesome, pictures and videos are displayed in vivid detail and color spectrum is just awe inspiring. There are multiple settings but I have never touched them, right out of the box this monitor set its self up, just turn it on and go! The added bonus of a two socket USB hub on the side of the monitor just adds to its great functionality and style. Just plug it in to your computer and now your ready to plug in any USB device on your desk without the wires running everywhere. Plus it has built in speakers but I like my volume turned way up some times and my desktop speakers and sub-woofer complete my system where in my opinion monitor speakers never really quite cut the mustard. This is really a great monitor and one of the best for this kind of money. If you are thinking or double thinking this monitor, just buy it and try it, you'll love it guaranteed!

I owned the HP 2007 20" monitor and bought this monitor to be used as a second monitor. It's good, it works, but the picture is not as sharp as the 2007 model. Also they lowered the resolution which caused me some problems. The screen isn't 20" from corner to corner either, more like 18.5. It's a good monitor for the price, but if you are used to an earlier version you may be disappointed.
