Monitor was received a couple of days past when I was told it would be to my address. The speakers on the monitor are quiet. The picture on the monitor is fabulous.

monitor is bigger than i thought it would be. i like the big screen look but has more of a widescreen appeal. very bright and clear. takes up minimal space.

I just got this monitor at Best Buy. Normally I buy online, but while I was checking out monitors the salesperson at Best Buy said he had the HP and it was a floor model that he could sell me for one third off. Read all the reviews and bought it. I never thought to look at HPs. I was focusing on Acer, LG, and Samsung. This monitor was not plugged in at the store but what sold me on it (in addition to the price and reviews) is:1) It looks stunning: the black piano frame is awesome; more importantly, the stand is the best of any manufacturer's stand I looked at; it is the only one I saw that had a substantial stand that did not look industrial yet swiveled, tilted, and had a great height adjustment2) It has a glossy screen: I have one on my MacBook and and the reflections are sometimes annoying, but this screen's reflections are much less. I think that may be because I don't move the monitor around into brightly lit areas and I can control the lighting in the room where I have my computer. The monitors with glossy screens as opposed to matte screens looked far more lifelike with better color rendition.3) The specs looked good, although I noticed that great specs don't always translate into a great image.4) There were complaints about the power button on the Samsung monitors lighting up a room. Not the case here as the power button is on the top of the monitor with just a faint light indicating its location.Then I got it home (no box; just a plastic bag over the screen to protect it from scratches). I plugged it in, attached my DVI cable, made a few easy adjustments, upgraded my GeForce nVIDIA 6800 video card's drivers (I had to do this; when I played movies the frame rate was very slow) and had the best looking image I have EVER seen on a monitor. STUNNING. Deep, rich, colors, black blacks, and white whites. It looks like I can step into my photos.On the downside, I don't appreciate that the warranty is only 1 year and most other manufacturers offer 3 years. Since I bought it with my Master Card Platinum card, that extends the warranty by another year. I will decide if spending $50 for an extended warranty (4 years) from Best Buy is worth it.I do notice that if I move my head vertically up and down relative to the screen (this is not something I would normally be doing), the contrast changes drastically (same thing if I am off to the side). I believe this is true for all large, widescreen monitors.Bottom line, I am thrilled beyond belief to have this monitor on my desk. And, it takes up little more desk space than the 4:3 ratio 19 inch monitor that I previously used. Highly recommended!

I use HDMI and the monitor is great. Frame rate good. I hooked up vga with an older video card and I didn't like it. I don't recommend using with vga although it could have been the old video card I used?Good size, for native hdI have 2 dead pixels after 6 months of use. but they are hardly noticable.

Recd monitor with complete package and love it. Used Zoomed to increase font size of everything and can easly read my email, articles and wedsites.

At first, I was a little disappointed. Mainly because the more-rectangular shape seemed to squish things in comparison to my old monitor. But now I think it's great. So far--I've had it about four months--I have had absolutely no problems.

Good, inexpensive monitor. Not the sharpest, and the speakers leave much to be desired, but for the price, I don't think you will go wrong. I've had no problems whatsoever.

I recently replaced a Samsung 19" flat screen with this monitor, and it is fantastic. No dead pixels, it is bright, has good contrast, and is all-around very sharp. I like the widescreen format too. I would have given it 5 stars, except for that the screen is so glossy that if I'm, say, watching a movie, and it cuts to a dark scene, I suddenly see myself reflected in it. Right now I can see myself reflected in the dark wallpaper I have on the desktop. I'd say the reflectivity is similar to that of the underside of a DVD. Also, keep in mind that this monitor does not have a DVI input, so if you get it and only have DVI, be sure to get a DVI to HDMI adapter in your order. It'll save you a last-minute trip to Fry's.

This monitor is worth every penny. The HD clarity is outstanding. At 20", the monitor allows viewing most documents and spreadsheets without having to scroll left and right. Having some visual difficulty after recent medical treatments, this monitor has been amazingly helpful to me.

This is my first flat panel screen, so I don't have much to compare it to besides the other monitors I've seen in the stores. Once I saw this one, though, that was it for me. It's absolutely gorgeous. I love how versatile the stand is - you can raise and lower the monitor, tilt it a bit, and also move it forwards and backwards. There's plenty of space underneath for placing documents that you might need to refer to while you're using it.I'm discovering that the "pivot" feature of this monitor is worth every last penny that I paid for it. Until I started using the monitor this way, I never realized the percentage of time it was more convenient to see the screen in portrait view rather than landscape view. The monitor is a typical widescreen but if you turn it 90 degrees, the monitor software will AUTOMATICALLY readjust the display accordingly. Now you have a "portrait" view where the screen is short horizontally but quite long vertically. It's fantastic for designing portrait-oriented powerpoint presentations because now the slide can take up most the screen (ditto for word documents and PDF files). Your web browser will automatically adjust web pages within the browser to accommodate the long format as well. And whenever you need landscape view again, rotate the monitor back 90 degrees and its in landscape mode again. Sweet!!! You can even tilt the top of the monitor back just slightly when its in this "elongated" mode which makes for very easy reading.My big pet peeve with the monitor is the layout of the menu and option buttons. As other reviews have noted, the manual and setup guide is pretty useless. So one would inevitably start by pressing the menu button on the monitor to see what it does. Problem is, if you hit the menu button twice, your screen will go black, because the very first option in the menu list is to output to another screen (I about had a heart attack the first time this happened). You have to cycle through several options with the menu button to get your screen back and to use the + and - keys to move to other options such as brightness and contrast. Don't rely on the 2 USB ports in the monitor for too much, either, because they aren't powered. They're just extensions of the USB port on the back of your PC. If you're putting a whole system together, whatever you do, get some decent external speakers, because the ones on the monitor sound like tin cans.Imagewise, however, the monitor is a beauty. I have been very pleased with it. Some have noted that the monitor software is buggy and doesn't automatically handle the 90 degree adjustment of the monitor. I had a different problem and the support tech sent me to the HP website to get version 1.3 of the software, which so far has performed flawlessly. If your cd came with anything less, you might want to do the same.

He querido cambiar este monitor por uno mas nuevo, pero cada vez que busco algo mejor,no es posible allar lo, este monitor es simplemente espectacular, su dise?o elegante, la calidad de los colores, la definicion, no tienen presedente, yo fui fiel comprador de Viewsonic pero despues de comprar este HP, no creo volver a comprar otra marca que no sea esta, almenos en este modelo de monitor, el cual he recomendado a todos mis amigos y clientes.Excelente Monitor

This product is a great upgrade from the HP W1907. The main differences other than the obvious size difference is that these come with HDMI and VGA inputs instead of the DVI and VGA inputs.This unit does not come with any HDMI to DVI or VGA to DVI adaptors.Setup is easy, the screens are bright and uniform (I have 3), and the menus function the same as the HP W1907.They do have the "Plasma TV like" BrightView/Crystal View/TruLife type screen, so they are not anti glare, but their color is rich. I prefer this surface over the normal anti glare that you see on most LCD monitors today but would not recommend them for locations that get a lot of direct sunlight on the screen itself.

I purchased the new HP 2009M monitor for my wife's Mother's Day gift. It replaced a 5-year old 17" LCD monitor and is so much brighter, sharper, and higher resolution that there is no comparison. My wife's hobby is digital photography and she loves the widescreen format and 1600 x 900 resolution when working in Adobe Photoshop. We set up the new monitor at noon on Mother's Day and she enjoyed it so much she barely left the computer the rest of the day. Besides the obvious quality, the HP was much more reasonably priced than comparable 20-21" monitors by other manufacturers. Would highly recommend this model.

A dramatic improvement over my last LCD monitor, this one has a really sharp picture and like that it comes with self adjust software.The product has all cables included - you can disregard my forum post below - DVI, VGA, power, and audio.I use external speakers so can't confirm or deny other comments on the speakers. This review is for the image only. The screen is highly reflective, I can see my image pretty clearly when the screen is black, but this is not a concern for me.

Is anybody else bothered that the rear case of this monitor is 1/4 inch larger than the screen. The case sticks up all along the top. This looks to me to be a design flaw. I can't believe they did this just so the power light is visible. I like the monitor otherwise. I plan to buy an HP system too so I am stuck with this (if I want the names to match).

If, like me, you use this with a Windoze laptop that has a screen resolution different from the 1680x1050 that this monitor INSISTS on using then you are in for some occasional trouble. The problem is that, even if it can display the resolution that the Windoze box comes up with, it will only do so for a few minutes. After that it pops up a message saying "going to sleep" and does. I would like to throttle the self satisfied little twerp who decided this was a good solution. So if your idiot MS software engineer can't find the screen in time to set the graphics card resolution then the monitor runs off in a huff and won't talk to you.Pick a decent monitor, I highly recomend Samsung.

Great monitor, does not overheat if you use it for many hours. Easier to clean than other monitors and big enough to run multiple windows.Volume won't get too high, if music is important to you consider adding external speakers.
