I wanted a simple point and shoot camera with digital features. My husband and I are having a difficult time taking photos that are not blurry. I don't know if there is a trick to taking photos with this camera that I am not aware of, but clear shots are eluding us.

I just can't believe how popular this camera really is.. Two of my friends have the same exact Camera... They paid lots more then the $319.99 I paid at Amazon.. Every thing That I have read about this Camera is totally 100 % correct as to speed, ease of shooting.. The camera is just un-real .Its as if it has its own memory.. My pictures are just breath taking.. Thanks Canon for making a superior product. I Highly recommend this Camera

Best camera, I was in doubt about this one and the sx510. But after MANY researches with experts on the subject, I decided for this one and couldnt be more satisfied. The sx510 is nice, but I think this one can do more things and is more "pro" than the sx510. Tne SX50 HS camera has more functions, is more robust and, as I am NOT a professional photographer, this one is a great pick for a regular person who just likes a nice zoom, good photos in daily routines, trips, hd films and playing around with different photos. I would definitely recommend it!!!

I previously owned a Nikon P500 and I had some concerns with that camera, I noticed that picture color was a little bit pale. Also, the camera took some time to buffer after shooting a few pictures in continue mode (I missed a lot of shots because of this). I got rid of my Nikon and I bought a Canon Powershot SX50. There are a couple of things I had to get used to: the camera body (feels different from my Nikon) and buttons layout is also different. I don't see that much of a difference in terms of zoom range (optical from 36X Nikon to 50X Canon) however I notice that picture color is richer and buffering time after shooting HQ pictures in burst mode is outstanding. I have shot a few pictures in Raw and although it is a little bit slower than taking pictures in Jpeg I like the picture quality in Raw better. Video seems fine but since it is not my primary use I haven't spent time using it. Image Stabilization does a great job. Another reason I decided to buy this camera was because you can expand the camera settings by using CHDK (Beta version at this moment). I was able to take a few star pictures with an Exposure of 30 seconds, ISO 400 and an Aperture of 3.56. There are more options (time lapse, motion detection...) but I have not tried them yet.Approximate distance for most of the pictures on the video review 12 Ft. I found that there is a great difference between specifications and actual practical use of the camera. I did quite a bit of research and compared the reviews For each of the top-rated magazoom cameras Including the Panasonic the Fujifilm and the Canon. I purchased the Canon in part because of the highly rated reviews on several professional websites and the 50 power telephoto lens system.Auto Focus Problems:My telephoto target is a bird feeding station about 15 feet away I would also try to capture birds in tree branches about 25 to 30 feet away. 90% of my shots were out of focus. The lens seems to be constantly searching with green focus squares popping up in various parts of the lens field but almost never dead center. I tried numerous adjustments including turning off any face detection or other gadgets but to no avail.Macro close ups were no better. A great deal of searching with many out of focus shots.Now in fairness, those images that were in focus are of good quality but the percentage was much too low. I ordered the Fujifilm hs50exr and was extremely pleased with quality, ergonomics and focus speed and accuracy right out of the box.I returned the Canon SX50 after four days with no regrets. Thank you Amazon for being the best consumer friendly retailer in America!

I love this camera! I love that with just a click of a button I can transfer my photos from my camera to my iPhone! Awesome feature! The photos are very clear & even with my daughter always on the move it takes clear photos! Highly recommend!

Perfect for capturing wildlife, the zoom is awesome, now I have the picture of a lifetime, the Bald Eagle that landed across the lake ! Just a super little camera ! Took some time to figure it out , I guess that will take about 1000 or more pictures ! It does so much. Only downside is the Owners Manual does on CD, I have no way of looking at it....

I bought this for my husband, who does a lot of nature and wildlife photography but can't afford a big lens and expensive camera body. He is currently doing a photographic "big year" of birding and he absolutely loves this camera.

I'm pleased with the camera, except for the annoying placement of the movie button at the top right, which makes it easy to shoot video without intending to.

Awesome camera. The zoom is absolutely amazing! I've become a wildlife photographer! I never knew how many pictures I would be taking now with the ability to zoom so far away. Nice clear and crisp images. You will live this camera.

This is my go-to camera for my wildlife shots. It has a great range (1200mm) without spending the thousands of dollars needed for a telephoto lens for my 60D canon.

I already had the Canon SX40 HS that I really liked. However besides the even greater zoom of the SX50 HS I noticed that using it with this camera is a lot easier because of it s fantastic stability. I just bought it but expect to take great pictures with it.

This is the camera I have been looking for, plus I am using more features than I thought I would by learning via how videos online.

Great camera. almost bought the current model for twice the price. The new model has a few more bells and whistles, however this one is great and does everything that I wanted it to do.

Very disappointed by this camera. The picture was good in general if you shot family pictures, your pet and your garden. The picture is not crisp clear when you shot in wide landscape, zoom-in, etc. The display screen is not clear too. Beside those, it is too cheap that there is no manual book or CD, no any cable included. I am not a professional photo taker but I use Canon product many years from AE-1 to 5D and many PowerShot cameras. This is worst one I have ever had. There are some good things with this camera: light weight, very small in size, still have a main dial that make easy to shange shooting mode. 30X zoom(if the picture is good).

Works Great. But forget programming the wireless functions by the book, the twine shell never meet! Just call tech support, a lot was left out of the book. it was like someone who never used the camera wrote it.

This camera was purchased to upgrade my number of years old Canon PowerShot, and so far I'm very happy with it. There has been some learning curve, but the meat of the issue is that I am obtaining good, clear shots including nice close macro shots of textiles (my main reason for purchase), as well as good general shots. I look forward to spending some time learning to use the bells and whistles.

This camera is absolutely amazing. I love it. It is simple to use and takes great quality photographs. The extra effects are fun to use and simple to figure out. I can't wait to try this camera on our vacation.

This camera is great, I have a Canon 7D that is heavy to carry when I travel. Not just is it lighter to carry, it takes great sports pictures too..

I am not a pro but I am in love with this camera! The nice thing is you don't have to be a pro to take nice pictures with this camera! I breed dogs so I am constantly taking photos of very active and wiggly puppies and sometimes in low light and this camera takes beautiful photos with very little light and the shutter speed is fast so I don't miss those special moments with my puppies.

Excellent for the money. There may be other long zooms that are stronger in some particular feature but this camera is hard to beat for overall image quality and usability for a long zoom. Decent images even with 50X opitical and 2X digital zoom.

I heard about this camera from my sister who is involved with many birding friends. They recommended this camera to her. I have a camera with 15X zoom, but wanted one that could get much closer to take pictures of birds and wildlife.On our recent vacation to Canada we both tried this camera for the first time. After practicing getting used to how it works (we only did auto setting) we both found this camera to be great for nature photography. We got some great closeups of birds and animals. The zoom is very convenient as it is placed right by the shutter button, and can be dialed in and out with one finger without taking your eye off the object. The camera also did well with scenery & close ups.An additional feature we liked is that it is relatively light weight and does not have the bulky, long lense to weigh one down.The one feature we did not like was the eye viewer. The object was always blurry and it was hard to tell what kind of photo would result. Often the picture was clear, but the blurr was annoying. I've found in sunny situations that the eye viewer generally works better that the screen which exacerbates the blurr problem.The screen viewer was great always clear and can be manuvered several ways to help in picture taking.In general we liked this camera and would recommend it to others.
