I bought this camera for the 50X which I use for birding and It works very well for telephoto. It has many features which I have not tried out for other purposes. The problem I have with the camera is that it doesn't work well with my hands which are small. In holding the camera, I am pressing on control buttons and changing settings I don't mean to change. I don't like the swingout screen as I moslty shoot with the evf and have to stop and open the screen to review. The photo quality is similar to my Lumix DMC-FZ35. In spite of the akwardness to use, I would buy this camera again for the awesome zoom.

I like the vivid color, the crisp focus and the ease of operation. Low light shots are difficult. Still learning to use the camera.

The Canon SX50 HS is a awesome camera, firstly by its amazing optical zoom of 50X, price, image quality, controls position and others, recommended (by be a bridge camera) for amateurs, in my case graphic designer.La Canon SX50 HS es una cámara impresionante, principalmente por su increíble zoom óptico de 50X, precio, calidad de imagen, posición de los controles, entre otros, recomendada (por ser una cámara bridge) para aficionados, en mi caso diseñador gráfico.

Великолепно

Excellent camera, very powerful zoom so I can take pictures to distant airplanes and landscapes with very good results. Zoom Framing Assist and the image stabilizer works remarkably well. I highly recommend this product, great price and quality, and I will enjoy it during many years taking pictures and videos of many beautiful places in my country, Colombia.Thank you amazon.

I got this about a month ago and am still working on figuring out all the options on it. I'm very impressed and have only had to do post processing once or twice to correct the white balance, and that was due to taking pictures of a snow-covered mountain on the high end of the zoom.

We brought this on a safari in East Africa and were glad we did. It took excellent telephoto shots without blurring thanks to the anti-vibration feature. This is a very sophisticated and complex instrument that we are still learning how to use. You can, however, start using it at once in the auto mode with great success.

This is a GREAT camera! I do a lot of amature wildlife photography, and have an 8 year old who is in sports. I wanted something with a great zoom, but also a FAST burst speed. I could not find a camera who could do both, especially in a PAS. I was going to get a NIKON with interchangable lens,(not a pas) but am on a budget and could not really afford the camera and kit lens, AND an extra zoom lens. I found this camera by accident in a local store, did a lot of research, and decided to try it!I LOVE IT! It does EVERYTHING I need it to do. I also love the video feature. I am an amature archer, and used this camera to VIDEO myself shooting so I can improve on what I need to. This camera does it all!In conclusion, BUY THIS CAMERA if you like macro, zoom, video and more!

Best All-In-One camera I have ever owned. I live on a ranch and need zoom for many wildlife photos and this camera does not disappoint!! Have not tried the macro or other features, I do know the photos I have taken are sharp which is of upmost importance to me. And recovery time after each photo is so much better than others I have owned. I am very pleased with this purchase!!

This is a great bridge camera. I own a Nikon DSLR and a Panasonic point and shoot.I was looking for something with a big zoom, so when i did not feel like taking the DSLR I could leave it at home and take great pictures.The zoom is simply amazing. Picture quality outstanding. Menu system good.I will not go into any technical specs as i think they have been covered by other reviewers.But i do have a feeling my point and shoot and DSLR are going to take a back seat as this becomes my everyday shooter.Get this one you wont be disappointed.

I bought this camera for a friends birthday and I love it. I am always a fan of Amazon's prime service which gives great shipping options. When this item arrived I played with it before I gave it away and I love the clarity of pictures that it produces as well as the price that it cost. A very reasonable price considering the quality that it has.

I am not a photo expert but this was a huge jump from my previous cammera...very nice pictures, in the easy/auto mode, great videos in HD, easy to find controls, spectacular zoom!!! incredible... I love my new cammera...Pictures are so well that it made me feel like I am a professional photographer !!! :-)

Pros:Love the quality of the photos!Love the zoom!Great deal (price)!Cons:Low-light performance (night time photos) are not bad at all; but not great.The Camera arrived without HDMI and A/V OUT DIGITAL cables. (I wonder if it was a used camera... while I bought as new...)

I love this camera and the nice changes made compared to the SX 40 IS I have. I've only had it a little over a week and although we're stuck indoors because of Winter weather, I've been able to take a number of long distance pics and love the way they look. the 1080P video is also very good.

Overall we love this camera, have been testing it for a week or so. It seems to be the perfect camera for travel when we don't feel like taking a large camera bag with a DSLR and a few lenses. The zoom is amazing, as is the image stabilization ! And for all the features included, it is a small and very light package.Two concerns have surfaced, so if anyone can help please reply.(1) can't set an aperture smaller than f/8 in Aperture Priority, would like to do Sunny 16 landscape shots(2) difficult to get a blurry background in Aperture Priority mode even at f/4.5, something we do all the time with a Rebel T3i.

It's amazing how quickly technology has improved since I bought a Canon Xti a while back. I consider this point and shoot a much better camera as I'm not a photography buff and I probably overbought when I did the Xti. The zoom and clarity on this is fantastic, as I've taken maximum zoom shots that have clarity and detail. This is very important to me such that the little glitches like repeatedly pressing the timer-set function is not irritating (yet).Now if I can get someone to buy my Xti, I'll really be happy.

I used to have a rebel 5.0 MP camera years ago and that awesome. This SX50 is so close to clarity its scary what I had paid for the rebel and this SX50. The zoom is truly out of this world and I couldn't of zoomed in on anything with my Rebel without a lens costing much more than the camera itself. I'm not a professional but do enjoy the quality and ability to take wonderful pics with my new camera.

Canon PowerShot SX50 HS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 50x Wide-Angle... I'm no expert on camera's for sure. I do know this bad boy can shoot great pictures and awesome video. I shake a lot and this thing adjusts itself to make clear, blur free images in both still and video mode. This camera will be getting much use in the very near future so I will update this posting with more concise information. The only issue so far is hand positioning which I'm pretty sure use will solve. LOVE IT !!!!

The quality of pictures we have taken so far has far exceeded our expectations. We live in the country and like to take shots of the wildlife on our property and the beautiful views and skies seen from our home. We have had marvelous results with this relatively affordable camera, which was recommended to us by the owner of a local camera repairman.

This is my fourth Canon camera and they just keep getting BETTER and BETTER....WOW!!The focus speed, the internal level indicator, the record speed, the panorama and the HDR internal processing are FANTASTIC not to mention the 50X optical ZOOM....WOW AGAIN!!I am very happy that Canon wised up and didn't change the battery between the SX40 and SX50 models......THANKS!!I take Sunrise photos daily and send all over the world.....this new camera is just so much better than the EXCELLENT performance of the SX40HS!!!I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a camera that can be as simple or complex as you wish.....ALL with superb results!!Jack[...]

I like the lightweight feel of it, but at the same time, how it gives the feeling of a DSLR without the weight. The features are great. I am still experimenting with the camera features, and trying to figure out what goes where. One function I find missing is the ability of the camera to create panoramic views (or maybe I haven't figured that out yet). The zoom function is amazing! I also like the tracking AF function too. Really useful camera from Canon.

Purchased this camera for the wife for a seabourne cruise along the Norwegian coast. She hasn't complained - yet.Great camera the zoom is amazing takes a good photo. A little larger than I thought however the camera features are easy to use. The camera lens zoom is worth the price alone

And easier to use than SX40 I had before (which broke - my fault). Only issues are 1) controls are placed so some are pressed too many times by mistake, 2) sometimes has difficulties focusing in low light conditions, or on far away landscape. Manual focus is very easy to use with better LCD so not such a big issue. Took for a long road trip and took more than 2000 pictures - very pleased.

I purchased this camera after first trying out the lesser sx500 model which I promptly returned. The sx50 model was a big upgrade!!! The picture quality is very good and the zoom allowed me to see craters on the moon! Simply amazing. The articulating screen is another big plus. I'm very happy with this camera and it CMOS sensor handles ISO noise very well!!!

Before buying it I read most of the reviews on the net but I didn't get to test it myself. The only down thing on device is its aperture rates goes down while you zoom more. Alas it's video and picture quality is very good to its competitors.

Was debating between the SX50 and the t3i. After much research I decided on the SX50 due to the price and the flexibility in one lens. We've used it almost everyday since Christmas and have been impressed each and every time. We took it sledding today and I was amazed at how good the zoom was from the bottom of the hill we got some great close ups then action shots as they came down the hill.

When you are taking a river cruise in Europe for thousands, don't wimp out on the camera. Thesis is a great camera for all kinds of shots. The zoom is a feature that made all the difference for landscape shots and castles.
