I initially had trouble with the wireless setup; I thought I'd made a mistake somewhere in the setup process. The printer wouldn't wirelessly print, even though the blue wi-fi status light was on.Turned out there was another step necessary to complete the process (Windows 7). In the Start menu, chose Devices and Printers --> Add Printer --> Add network, wireless or Bluetooth printer. Then Windows scanned the network, located the printer, and installed it. It prints fine now via wi-fi from two different computers.The first part of the setup (using the printer CD) merely connected the printer to the wi-fi network. The second step allowed Windows to recognize and activate the printer as part of the network. Hope this saves you a bit of aggravation.

I liked this printer for the first three months, enough that I ordered a box of 4 toner cartridges that were certified compatible. And indeed they were, until I was about 500 pages in to the first cartridge and Samsung pushed out a forced firmware update that I had no control over or knowledge of until it was done. Then suddenly these cartridges became "no compatible" - although the printer has no problem printing test pages, network reports, font listing, and other diagnostic pages. Just not anything else.Quite frankly, I'm waiting for the class action suit against Samsung so I can join it. I've been a long time customer - this is my third Samsung printer, I have a Samsung phone, and a Samsung camera. But I will never buy another Samsung product again.

I was worried about setting up the printer in my wireless network, especially since I have a Mac and a PC at home. However, the installation was a breeze - 15 minutes tops to have both computers printing via the wi-fi. I had an ML1710 before, also a Samsung, which served me well for 8 years. Thus, I decided to support Samsung again.

its decent. instructions to install are horrible. took me forever to get this toner in. once i replaced the toner, started having problems as it wouldn't print correctly, its all because the instruction weren't helpful. i found the problem and now it prints fine.

As others have mentioned getting this printer setup is a pain. It isn't something you will only do once either. The software driver doesn't handle printer IP changes very well. You will constantly be fiddling with things. If you aren't computer savvy this printer is not for you. Do yourself a favor and setup a static DHCP lease for the printer on your router or just a put a static IP in the printer. I have had a much more pleasant experience with this printer once I forced an IP.In terms of print quality and scan quality this printer is top notch. Scanning with the document feeder works very well and is a feature you won't find on many MFCs in this price range.

This cartridge works well at first but runs out of ink very quickly. The customer service was great in that they immediately replaced it. However the second cartridge streaked and also ran out of ink in a few months.

Printing maybe 50% on the letter portion of a legal size contract paper, the cartridges seem to last 3000 pages vs 5000. That means either its detecting the legal size, and reducing its available count; or it simply doesn't have enough toner. For casual use, this should be fine though.

i thought this would be a problem to set up... nope.. took me 30 seconds.. and im damn computer savvy.. but this was easy. my dad could figure this out. and you know printers and wifi security are two of the first levels of hell. i was expecting a 30 minute fight for my life but after 5 minutes, i had a test print and had printed off my first document. it was easy to set up on mac and PC. if you dont care about color, buy this product. viva samsung

Printer works fine, is nice and compact, but is VERY difficult to set up as wireless. It took an IT specialist almost two hours. Worse, every time the power goes out, you have to go through the entire initial installation AGAIN! Stupid! Very poor design.

I'm not sure where people are running into install problems with this printer. I would place my skill level as intermediate to advanced on the home networking front, but even then, it was not like I had to pull out the tricks to get this to work. I set-up the printer to work with Mac's and a PC within 30 minutes or so.Let's walk through the set-up and you can be the judge if this is difficult.1) Like an other reviewer, I never bother with the disc that comes with hardware. I always go to the web and get the latest and greatest. So downloading that was the first step.2) My PC laptop was the closest to the printer, so I fired up the install program and connected the PC to the printer via USB.3) I selected the option to set-up the printer for my network. Since there is no screen, you have to use the Samsung software to send the wireless network data (SSID, password, etc.) to the printer so that it can talk to your network.4) After that, I ran the set-up option for the PC and the printer installed with no problem.5) Then I jumped to the Macs. I just went to System Preferences, selected Print & Fax, then hit the + icon to add the printer. The Macs immediately saw the printer and indicated it was set-up on Bonjour.6) Ran the Add option for the Mac and the printer installed right away and worked. Rinse, lather, repeat as I had two other Macs to do.For a sub $100 laser printer, it seems to be a pretty good deal. Print is clear and crisp. The print speed from send to print complete seems good as well. Now, Samsung will get to make their money back and then some with the toner sales. If I can squeeze out 2500 pages from the standard cartridge, then I should be in the $0.025 to $0.028 per page range for toner costs. Not too bad.....

I wanted to find a Laser Printer of reasonable price for home/office use. After a long search I found the Samsung with an excellent review and reasonable price that had beat all the competition. I'm totally happy with the ease of installation and the quality of prints. If you can settle for no color, this is the one to get. The only issue is that there is no color. Otherwise this is a "no brainer". Buy it.

I have been using this product for hardly 15-20 days. I was looking for a reasonably cost laser printer with a combination of scanner and copying and 'Samsung SCX-4623F'did met all the criterion for me. The good things about it is that the print quality is superb, easy to install, fast printing and scanning. The thing which I do not like about it is that if you want to print both sides of paper then you will have to feed manually after one side of printing is done. Moreover I am not sure how to do it properly (probably I will have to go through manual or explore more) but I have to open the lower tray each time to manually feed them. I hope there is some way to feed them on the top slanting tray which I could not explore till now. I have not used the copy function till now and Fax option is not for me as I will not be using it. I recommend this product and hope someone may tell me how to feed the paper on top tray for second side printing before I explore it myself.

When used as a regular old USB printer, it is fine. Quiet, fast, could've been a great little product. But the whole point is that it is wifi, so it should be accessible over your wifi network, doncha think? Well, the problem is that the printer goes into sleep mode after a short period of time, after which sending it print jobs wirelessly fails to wake the printer up -- your print job just joins a queue that never prints. If you cycle the power then sure enough, it prints the queue. So in short, to use the printer wirelessly you have to go to the printer, cycle the power, then dash back to your computer and send the print job before the printer goes to back into a coma.This would be bad enough -- and it is a problem that is now documented on many forums and sites, yet Samsung has done nothing to correct it -- but the claim that the printer is easy to set up with a Mac is plain old fraud. The installation software for Macs truly does not work at all. I can't imagine how Samsung even let it out the door. The only (partial) solution is to let your Mac install the printer as a bonjour printer -- do NOT use the included installation disk. Oh, and as everyone else has been commenting, Samsung support was worse than useless, they actually made matters worse: the links on the printer's FAQ are dead and produce 404's, and you can't ever reach anyone who has any actual experience with the product.My advice? STAY AWAY. especially if you have a Mac.

We had a copier, fax, and laser printer that were all on their last legs and sure freed up a lot of space in our office with this unit. Extremely easy to set-up and use. Noticed some complaints in the reviews about an update on the software that made it a requirement to get Samsung toner, but I have never seen a prompt for such an update. That being said, we also purchased the high-capacity Samsung toner-cartridge offered on Amazon at the same time. The difference in price between a "compatible" and the factory high-capacity replacement cartridge is peanuts when considering how long it lasts. (At least to me).

I found the print quality to be acceptable but the networking capability to be weak. My network uses WPA2 encryption security and limits access only to specific machines with MAC numbers defined to the network.I followed every step in the manual for activating the printer's network capability, all to no avail. I contacted Samsung Level 1 Support and they finally gave up and gave me the phone number for Level 2 Support. I called level 2 the next day, and long story short, the best they could do was to assign a static IP number to the printer even though the network uses dynamic addressing. So if the router's power goes off, I have to reset the printer's static ID. After experimenting, even with no power outages, the network connection could easily be lost. I gave up and only print directly using the provided USB cable. Many hours wasted on a network printer that apparently can't do anything other than the simplest of networks.

I purchased this printer in mid-November 2010 for my home office. Setting up the printer's wireless functions were a bit of a pain because the printer does not have an LCD/LED screen, so you must used the included (or downloaded) software to configure it. This wouldn't be a big deal if the printer worked as advertised, but it doesn't.As other negative reviews have stated, you can only use this printer for 10-15 minutes at a time with WiFi before it goes to sleep. Once it goes to sleep you MUST cycle the printer's power before it will work again... which pretty much negates the key usage of a WiFi enabled printer. Sometimes, the printer doesn't come back on via WiFi even after a power cycle, so you have to set it up all over again!I am no amateur when it comes to setting up printers, but using this printer is a frustrating nightmare that never seems to get better. Hopefully Samsung will eventually come out with a fix for this Wake On Lan (WOL) issue, but until they do, steer clear of this printer at all costs if you plan on using it via WiFi.In my home I have 4 Windows 7 PCs, 2 Windows XP PCs and a Windows Home Server, and they ALL have the same issue with this printer. If this printer's WiFi functions worked properly, this would easily be a 5-star printer all around; which is frustrating in it's own right.

I tried to set up the wireless connection from the printer to the router, but no luck. I've called the tech support four times. Every one basically let me do the same exercise.After the first time called, the rep told me he would escalate the case and have their next level support team call me in 2-3 business days. 8 days passed, but no one ever called me. I checked back and the case was still sitting there. This is how Samsung handle the support case! Unbelievable!!!I spendt another hour with Samsung support this afternoon, after re-ran all the test, the guy told me to change my router's setting to WEPA2 as he believed Samsung printers had problems with WEP. Does that make sense?I would just buy a new wireless printer instead of wasting so much time (more than 3 hours so far!) dealing with the stupid product!I won't use Samsung any more!!!

I purchased the printer for $49.99. The main reasoning for purchasing the printer was to get away from expensive ink jet cartidges that dried up after using them once. I do not print very often and was finding myself buying a ink jet toner everytime I had to print a document...which was very expensive. The laser printer has been great, it is a nice size and you can put in a small space. It came with a starter toner that I am still using 3 months later. Connected easy to the computer with an usb cord (NOT INCLUDED). I would recommend to anyone looking to get move from inkjet to laser printer, does not need wireless, and does not want to spend alot of money.

We really aren't the most tech savy people and we are able to do so much with this. It's so easy to install and use. We have used about every feature that it has to offer. I am able to print patterns for my sewing, I copy and print pre-k stuff for my daughter, I've been able to scan and save a bunch of old pictures and even sent/recieved faxes. So easy to use even for those of us that are technology ignorant.

I purchased this from Fastfriendly service and cant say enough good about them. Throughout this entire tortuous install, they replaced the unit without question and have directed me as far as they could. THEY are not the issue and I would do business with them at any time. The issue is the Samsung unit.In short, when installed, I turn it on and it causes the computer to reboot.WHAT?There is much more to this as I spent over 6 hours of MY time troubleshooting and drawing conclusions on this unit. In the end, there is no improvement. I run XP Pro and am not a novice to computing OR to high tech devices. The issue is that the software is not ready for prime time. Sorry but if you buy THIS unit, good luck!

I just got this today about 10 minutes ago and tried it out. It works great but I've only printed a couple of pages so far. I have no idea what the one poster meant by having to hand feed it one sheet at a time because my paper tray is working just fine. It has a hand feed option and than the paper tray option. Maybe the poster just hasn't discovered the paper tray yet? But what that person said was not at all accurate. It's the first thing I checked when I got it set up.Set up was easy. It prints really fast and although it makes this wheezing like noise when printing, it's super quiet other wise. I guess I may be just use to the cartridge moving back and forth on the deskjet models. There's none of that on this one.After I got it I was really surprised that there is no colored cartridges for this model. At least none that I can find. Please let me know if you know of a color cartridge and the model number. I'd love to be able to print in color. If it exists than I don't know where it is. All I see is the Black option.Had I known that and if that is the case, I would not have gotten this printer. I need color.And by the way, for the people who want to leave snarky comments. I didn't see where it said monochrome or black and white only on the description. Not everyone reads the whole description and yes that's my own fault but I was just warning others. And no, I've never heard the term monochrome used before and I've worked in offices and banks.By the way, for those of you complaining that the toner runs out way too quickly, look what I found online... [...]I'm sure Brother is not the only company that does this. But this short video will give you instructions on how to make the toner cartridge last longer, 100 plus pages longer.

Although it's an excellent buy for the price, the ML-2525W should be avoided if you are a Mac owner - especially if you have any plans of keeping your Mac up to date OS-wise! Samsung, at this late date, does not have a driver that will enable using the ML-2525W on a Mac running under Lion, Apple's most capable and newest operating system. Nor does Samsung indicate that it will offer one anytime soon.

Anyway, they are indeed high quality, and they went easily into my printer and provided top quality output. But c'mon suppliers, I'd love to see someone produce a printer with a reasonable cost of replacement toner.

The Samsung ML-2010 is a personal monochrome laser that delivers high-quality output and good speed and does so for a reasonable price. And it lasts! I have owned ML-2010 for 5 years and it is still going strong without giving me any problems. Paper jams very rarely and when it does it are very easy to fix. The laser cartridges are very easy to replace.The price of the printer itself is very low, the cost comes from the laser cartridges. The "starter" cartridge that comes with a printer is low capacity and lasted 8 months with average use of printing 4-5 pages a day. The full capacity laser cartridge lasted 1 year and 5 months with the same print rate. I 5 years of daily use I am on my second full cartridge looking to buy the third.When the print becomes uneven (i.e. lighter in one area) you can get a few more weeks of the cartridge by shaking it and reinserting back in. I typically order the new cartridge from Amazon when this uneven print happens. I get it in time to replace with some time to spare.The two cartridges I purchased so far were original new Samsung OEM cartridges.

Quick Verdict: Although the printer ink business is largely considered a racket, this toner drum from Samsung is a tremendous value and a quality product that will ink twice as many pages as you expect.Full Review: I have had a Samsung ML-1710 since 2003 and it uses this refill. I have purchased four toner packs for it over the last seven years. I got this exact toner cartridge first, and it had no problems at all. I thought it was overpriced, so next time I was low on ink I went for a cheap generic cartridge, because it was half the price, but it had numerous problems and eventually broke the printer. I ended up picking up another ML-1710 refurbished from Samsung and I've kept chugging along with these 1710D3 high capacity toner drums ever since. They have the important film covers that protect the contacts, and they ship in a light-proof black plastic that shields them from damage in storage. They fit very snugly into Samsung laser printers, and I know this because I move my printer around fairly frequently and I can tell it is locked in there. One drawback is that I wish I could see how much ink is left in the toner drum on my computer. Although this is for home use, I print a ton of PDFs and documents for school and I know that you can easily reach seven thousand pages if you use the printer's economy mode. Buy this cartridge, it will print out your dissertation, homework, and envelopes without a hitch.

Very good printer overall. I just need to warn people...at least people with a mac...that the wireless setup is very tricky. Samsungs instructions don't work and the mac software and drivers on the disc also do not work.What I did was I connected an ethernet cord from the computer to the printer and then used the IP setup software on the disc to locate the printer (I had to disconnect from all wireless networks to ensure I didn't confuse the setup).You can get your computer's IP address in the Network tab of System Preferences. Using the IP setup software on the Samsung disc, select the printer and click the button to change settings (it looks like a gear). Change the IP address of the printer to that of your computer but change the last digit to something else( Ex: if the mac's ip is 1.2.3.4, change the printer's to 1.2.3.5). Once that is done, make the subnet mask identical to that of your mac (subnet is also in system prefs) and save the settings. Your printer will print out a confirmation page. Then, with the ethernet cord still attached, type in the printer's new ip address in Safari. You will then be able to access the printer's internal webpage.Once at the website, click the Network Configuration on the left (mine is in French so the English may be a bit different). Then under that subheading, click TCP/IP. Then in what shows up, you need to change the printer from having a static IP address to using DHCP. Once you do that and save your settings, you should be able to print wirelessly using the ad hoc setting (meaning the computer has a direct wifi connection with the printer) once you connect to the "airportthru" network with your Airport card.If you want the printer available on your home network, go back into the printer settings and select your network and enter your password. The printer will connect to your home network.I hope this works for you guys. It worked for me and Samsung makes great products but has lousy support.

I changed toner with this refill ink and chip.
At first it worked very well and I printed 30 papers.
After that, it does not work.
Printer are showing red light and program said that it is not the correct torner.
I think the chip has some problems.
Anyway, I can not print anymore.

This is the real deal, a Samsung toner. This isn't a knock-off trying to fit in, it's the toner. Using cheap products with low quality control can ruin the print quality of a document.It's what I've got, it's what I'll have to deal with. I would suggest avoiding getting a printer that requires this ink, but those seem to be out of production now. Stay modern, so that you can buy a toner that is more easily obtainable.

If you are looking for wireless printing, buyer beware! Just like a lot of folks, I have had problems with the printer going offline after a few minutes. Power cycling the printer does not help. I have to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver which is an absolute hassle. Go with Canon products if you need wireless printers. I have several Canon wireless printers and NONE have had any issues. Samsung suppport is lacking too.. I had a tech support "chat session" and they had no clue how to fix this - their advice was to take the printer (brand new!) to a Samsung repair center. My first and last Samsung printer!!!! It may work just fine via USB, but, I bought this printer to print via wireless connectivity - which it does not do! Not a good showing for Samsung! Samsung ML-2525W Wireless Mono Laser Printer

Want to save yourself some time and frustration with setup? DON'T USE THE CD TO INSTALL THE DRIVERS. The files are outdated and will cause problems when you get to the wireless part of the setup. Go directly to the Samsung.com site and download the drivers there. Once you do that, installation is a breeze. Make sure to connect your computer to the printer with the USB cable through the installation of the drivers. After you've installed the drivers, you can remove the USB cable and it's wireless city from there on out.Also something to keep in mind ... the printer includes toner, but it's a "starter" cartridge which is only filled about 25%. Don't expect to print as much as you could with a full toner cartridge. I think the people who complained about it not printing as much as it claims probably didn't know about the starter cartridge.Overall, I really like this printer. It prints quickly and produces high quality black and white documents.

Nice works well, it seems to get more discount than I bought, so a little frustrated about the price. However, overall it is a good printer.

-1 for Wifi problems.I just bought this printer on sale for much less then what Amazon advertises. Frankly, I bought the printer because it was cheaper then buying yet another set of ink cartridges that never last longer then 50 pages or so. I print infrequently, and most of the things I print out are things like concert tickets, driving directions, or items that need to be mailed. Color is no longer needed for me, because when I really need a sparkling color document or photos, I'll just drive to Kinko's. (After all, half the times I need to print, my old printer wants yet another set of cartirdges.)When I tried setting up the printer, I initially tried setting up the printer for Wifi. Wifi was an exercise in frustration. (I'm on a Mac) Samsung's installer insisted on closing all of my other programs. (???) It then couldn't find my wireless network, even though my MacBook had a full (5 bars) connection to the network. I typed in all of my settings, and it still couldn't find the wireless network. This is shocking, because my Wii, two Apple computers, iPhone, roommate's Thinkpads, and guest computers have no problems finding my network.I then gave up and plugged the printer directly into my router using an ethernet cable. When I went to "Add Printer" in all of my Apple computers, they immediately found the printer and seamlessly set up the drivers without closing other programs. Printing was fast and quiet. Text and lines were crisp. I tried printing a photo, and there was visible banding. (However, I didn't buy this for photos!)I can't speak for the lifetime of this printer, but I'll be happy if I can get 4-5 years with 1-2 toner changes.In summary: This printer is a seamless install if you use wired ethernet on Apple Computers. If you try to set up Wifi, or need to use their installation disk, be prepared for an exercise in frustration. -1 for Wifi problems, but if Wifi actually worked, I'd give it a 5.
