I bought this for my wife to use in preschool. The print from smartphone works well, your phone has to be on the same WiFi network. The print quality is just fine, B&W is sharp and the color prints are vibrant. Has an "Eco" button on the top of it, that just calms everything down.My biggest concern is the toner life, it comes with all 4 toners and they are labeled as starter or complimentary cartridge or something... hopefully that doesn't mean 20 pages each then dead.

After years of throwing out and buying new inkjet printers and wasting $1000 of dollars on ink cartridges, and discovering how inexpensive laser printers had become, I decided to go laser. Samsung delivers for sure. This printer does everything I could want. It doesn't print color, but let me suggest that if you want to do color photo printing and you do a lot of it, buy a photo printer. However, with the cost of getting prints done at Walmart, you'd be better off to even forget that. If most of what you need to print is a letter or a resume once in a while, this printer will not get clogged ink, and crap out eventually, because you don't use it enough. The toner cartridges are cheaper than you think if you use refilled ones. Refilled toner does not have quality loss like refilled ink cartridges do. If you need a good reliable printer that works for the few times a year you need it, don't waste your money on anything else! Get this Samsung!

I purchased this printer a couple of weeks ago and, after having to spend 30 minutes setting it up with my wireless network, am now successfully enjoying using with Mac OS Lion. I read quite a lot of negative reviews on the net about the usability of the product with Mac's but can only say that I cannot share the pessimism....everything is working well. It's fast, cheap and ideal for a home office printer for all the family...we have a few people printing to it wirelessly using Windows and Mac OS and no problems yet. I would just recommend that Mac people don't install the USB printer but wait until it is configured on the WiFi - after that search for local printers and then add it.. There is an update from apple for the printer I installed before everything was setup.Have fun and good luck !

Buying non-authentic cartridges always makes me feel a little skeptical. Though it's still much cheaper than buying an authentic Samsung cartridge, but I'm not sure they fill it all the way, meaning you don't get your money's worth. If you're looking for a cheaper alternative without getting ripped off, I would suggest this:Laser Tek Services ? I had zero issues with the set up, or the printing, except I was expecting a true white printer (like an Apple white) per the description, and it is actually gray. The wireless worked fine initially, but I was having issues with my wireless, so I decided to plug in the cable to my computer and print directly, and it did not work!!! Have to go back to the manual I guess...

Replaced a trusty but tired HP Laserjet 2300 for our front office. Bought a new printer instead of repairing the old one since repair is too expensive (although it's sad to fill up the landfills). I chose Samsung due to good experiences with my Samsung phone, TV, etc. I chose the 3712 instead of the 3312 because it had higher usage ratings (more heavy duty) for not much more money. I also like that it's advertised to use less power than other printers, but have not yet measured power usage. I can say other printers sometimes dim the lights when warming up, and this printer does not.Installation:Easy and lightening fast USB setup without a hitch. Download the newest driver, install on WinXP, plug in the USB cable, share it with other PCs on the network. I need a new LAN drop before I can use the integrated ethernet port.Usage:Super fast time to first page of the day. Printed pages fly out of this thing, but not so much I need a catcher's mitt.Been in operation for a couple months and no complaints. Not even a small suggestion or nitpick of any kind. It seems impossible in this day and age, but this is a great product.

I like how small, lightweight, and inexpensive this printer is. It's quick (in pages per minute) and has good print quality (no complaints after dozens of pages). It is certainly a home use unit, not for heavy daily office use, but good for that purpose.

The instructions that came along with this just throw them away. You only have to remove the 3 plastic rivets on the left side of the cartridge that has the 4 gold contacts. Cut the 3 rivets off with an exacto knife or any razor blade. Then gently pry off this side cover. Slide out the old IC chip module and out in the new one. Then remove the black plastic plug. Dump out the old toner. Now refill the cartridge with the cartridge standing up on its edge. Obviously you have to keep the cartridge vertical to fill it. Remove the bottle seal and put the refill funnel on it. Now gently squeeze the toner from the bottle into the toner opening. Do this slowly and squeeze gently. You should also tap the side of the cartridge a few times to settle the toner as you are refilling it. When done, put the black plastic cap back in. Then snap the side cover back on and your done.

I cannot understand why some websites say to put in 3 screws in place of the plastic rivets. When the side snaps in, it is in tightly and screws are NOT necessary. Just put the cartridge back in and you are done.

This was only a 5 minute job to do. The toner quality is excellent. Highly recommended way to save some money for the refill.

Cannot rate. After working with on-line techs for many hours, I finally found a tech who told me that the printer would not work with my smartphone. Consequently, I returned it. Amazon is a super vendor if you have to return something.

I set up this printer and it worked for a couple of days, then won't turn on anymore. Contacted Samsung and they asked me to ship it to them then wait 10-14 days while they determine what the issue is. Not worth the hassle.

Great monochrome printer for this price and i have absolutely no regrets of purchasing it. The only surprise was when i saw that the USB connecting cord is missing, it turned out its just not included thank God there are lots of cheap stores where you can get one for only a dollar.

I had to return this product. It would not complete the set up. I kept getting an error message saying carriage jam. Then I got a smell of somehting burning. Even though I requested a replacement, Amazon only refunded my money. I then went elsewhere to buy a printer.

Received the product in a timely manner. Followed the instructions to the tee and product did not work. Would not recognize the chip as a new toner even though the toner was refilled with new toner. Would never buy this product again. Would go ahead and spend a little extra and get a whole new cartridge. I gave one star only because it would not let me continue unless I did that , however I would really give it no stars.

After reading other reviews, I decided to not set up the printer wireless (also, directions were too brief). Non-wireless set up was very quick and simple. Pros: Overall, the printer works very reliably. Cons: unable to keep "toner save" option set (must set it for each printing), replacement toner is expensive.

Ok. So I know there have been some posts about how this ink refill kit doesn't work, for me it worked perfectly. The instructions are crap (it must be said), and my printer didn't accept the new chip. I just watched a youtube video and kept the same chip, and it works great. The youtube video I watched was by mipo mipohk. This guy spoke in Japanese (I believe, sorry if I'm wrong), but if you just watch what he does it's a great example. I have a Samsung ML-1865W.

I have had my Samsung ML-2150 printer for many years, and it has printed many tens of thousands of pages.Along the way, I have tried refilled toner cartridges from time to time. They are much cheaper, but almost every such cartridge has needed replacement at least once, due to defects, poor print quality, or incompatibilities. None of the cartridges, whether OEM or aftermarket, ever yielded anything close to 8K pages!My net: For this particular printer, at least, stick to OEM cartridges and enjoy excellent, reliable printer performance.(I should mention that refilled cartridges work fine on my Canon inkjet. But not for my Samsung ML-2150.)

I was looking for a printer to use at home to make one or 100 copies. This printer does exactly that!! I previously owned the Samsung ML-1710 which is the model before this one and they look identical. I'd planned to upgrade my printer, but when I saw this model and the ML-1710 gave me good service, I changed my plan. There are no bells and whistles with this printer, but it makes clear copies of text and images. It's not the faster printer to get started, but after it starts printing the queue it prints rather quickly. Great buy!! I highly recommend it.

I was hesitant to buy this because of some of the reviews here, but I am so glad I did. I am not particularly mechanically inclined and it took me less than 5 minutes to replenish the cartridge. I basically followed the instructions in some of the reviews here.
(1) on the chip side of the cartridge, there are 3 dome-looking plastic rivets. I didn't have a dremel and my box knife was a bit too big to remove them. So, I cut as much as possible, then inserted the edge of the box knife blade at the end cap interface and wiggled it until it popped off.
(2) Remove the about 1/2" dia toner res cap
(3) Added toner, replace toner res cap
(4) Replace end cap back, pressed down and it seemed to snap and then hold - didn't need any screws.
(5) didn't replace chip, so have stored that for another day
(6) printed!

Sure beat the OEM replacement cartridge price.
-1 star because the included instructions were lame.

The printer works fine, paper doesn't jam, fast, wakes up on network, BUT-The toner doesn't last anywhere near the specified pages.Using the "economy" setting, the 5K impression cartridge is down to 61% remaining after 1384 impressions.At 5000 per cartridge, using 39% should have yielded around 1,950 impressions.Maybe it would be better just printing double spaced type, but for a teacher who prints lessons and tests for the class, this is getting costly.And I'm not talking pictures and illustrations. Most pages had a lot of blank space for students to fill in answers.No wonder they were selling the printer for $99... the first 5K (more like 3.5K) cartridge cost $119!IF you can find one, that is.There seems to be a problem with the 5K toner cartridge supply (Nov 2011).The first MLT-D205L cartridge I purchased didn't register with the printer and wouldn't clear the "change toner" alert.The replacement worked OK.Now, almost all the retailers are out of stock (Including Amazon), and the ones who have them are charging 200% more.Not to mention the fact that the 10K cartridge that works in other printers that use the MLT-D205L won't work with the ML3312-ND.Now, I'm stuck paying more per page for the 2K (more like 1.2K) toner cartridge.The reason I bought this laser printer in the first place was to save on printing cost over inkjet.I have gone back to using my old (slow) HP960c that quit printing color.At least I can buy refilled cartridges for it.

4 Star part - My order arrived quickly. The toner is seemingly good - works at least.

2 Star part - The refill kit had a 100 grams toner (OK - 65 grams needed); a pour spout (OK); a rubber glove (OK); cartridge hole cover tape, not required on my cartridge; replacement chip included. NOT INCLUDED: 3 small (#2 x 3/8" ?) screws to re-fix the cartridge end cap.

-2 Star - Lame Instructions - If you have a digital camera, take photos as you go, so you'll have a record of the work. THIS WILL BE YOU INSTRUCTION MANUAL IN THE FUTURE. Can't imagine the vendor will ever be helpful.

To refill this cartridge, you first remove the 3 melted plastic rivets on the right side / chip side of the cartridge. I used my Dremel Moto tool with tiny conical diamond grinder bit (Harbor Freight, cheap set)to first drill a hole in the center of each rivet. Then, I used a cylindrical diamond grinding bit to gently grind the rivets flush with the cartridge side. Go slow, be careful, as the plastic grinds quickly and easily. Once the rivets are removed, gently remove the cartridge end cap.

On my cartridge, the REFILL HOLE is exposed. Use a small pair of pliers to remove the refill hole plug, and set aside. Use pour spout to add toner as needed. Replace hole plug. Shake side to side to distribute toner. Replace the chip. Gently replace the end cap and fasten with 3 small screws. Re-install cartridge in printer and make a test print.

If your cartridge doesn't have a refill hole, you have to buy a hole tool on line, basically a tube heated by a 30 watt soldering iron. If I had to make a hole, I'd get a piece of 1/2" metal tube, heat in a stove flame, and carefully melt the hole in the cartridge.

This is a good replacement for the Samsung branded cartridge at a fraction of the cost. The quality of the printed output appears to be equal of that of the original Samsung cartridge. When this cartridge is spent, hopefully a while from now, I plan to purchase another.

My Dell 1720 died after perhaps 20,000 - 25,000 sheets. I bought this. I love it. It's faster than the Dell, quieter, smaller, costs less, and for the last 6 months I could not print UPS label stock on the Dell, the Samsung prints them beautifully. Checks hand fed through the front slot are printed perfectly, except when you're down to the 3rd check on the page you have to tape it to a piece of paper or it won't feed all the way through. Every printer I've owned did this, so no big deal. If you're on the phone four feet away when it starts up, it's no big deal - it's that quiet. No wonder Dell is getting out of consumer sales. I've been through a lot of laser printers over the life of my company going back to 1987, and this is the nicest and least expensive I've owned. Toner refills are $8 on Ebay, cartridges are $30. If it lasts as long as the Dell did and uses comparable supplies, I expect my cost of printing to be under $0.02 per sheet.

It didn't work right out of the box. I called Samsung they had me mail it to a factory repair facility. Now I have it back and it is labeled refurbished. So I paid new price and after a month all I have is a refurbished unit. Don't buy one.

Had difficulties setting printer up for Win7 over ethernet (not wireless). Wanted to call for help. Was a Saturday. Samsung doesn't provide support on Saturdays. It's a business printer, not a home computer. Kept at it...eventually got it set up, but disappointed support wasn't available.

This was a replacement for my 15-year-old workhorse HP 6P monochrome laser printer. I have a color printer for special occasions, but 98% of my print jobs are B&W so I needed something crisp and economical. I could not be happier with this Samsung unit. It takes a couple seconds to warm up after you hit the "print" button, but it's speedy once it gets going. The print quality is very good and the paper tray is easy to load. The auto-duplex print feature is fantastic. The construction is not quite as sturdy as my old HP machine, but it was the most sturdy of all the other printers I had inspected.

TRUST ME! DO NOT BUY THIS OR ANY SAMSUNG PRINTER, THEY ARE JUNK!Like dozens of others, I have tried EVERYTHING to get this piece of junk to work wirelessly, to no avail. I've used this printer with 2 different routers running 4 different router firmware versions, I've tried static IP, DHCP, DHCP with static lease... NOTHING WORKS! This will print the test page after installation and then STOP WORKING. I have to unplug the printer and plug it back in each time I want to print, and even that doesn't work sometimes and I have to reinstall the driver on all of our FIVE machines.. It's a joke.I have a Canon all-in-one on the same network and it works FLAWLESSLY for print/scan/fax.I used to be a big Samsung fan, but this (and another Samsung product which turned out to be a dud) has frustrated me so much that I will never buy another Samsung product.I wasted more than $100 on this piece of junk and I am now looking for a new laser. This one, I will JUNK because I refuse to inflict this printer on anyone else.

This printer works, and prints great over the network....if you can get it set up. For anyone who is working with the most recent drivers, here's a simple way to get it done.1. The "USB Connection" wizard did not work. It was pretty awful, actually; it couldn't recognize my wirelss password and failed time and time again. My first step was tossing those (and the CD) aside.2. Connect the printer via network cable (Cat 5) to your router. Despite the failure of the wireless wizard to work, with the hard connection your router will assign the printer a network address.3. Log into your router; view the "attached devices" or "DHCP table", and you will see your printer there. Write down the IP address.4. From any browser, type the IP address of the printer into the address window (should begin with either 10.x.x. or 192.x.x). Press return.5. The browser will go to the printer menu (SynchThru web service). Now we're getting somewhere.6. Across the top are tabs. Click "Network Settings".7. On the left side menu buttons will appear. Click "Wireless".8. In the center, click "Custom", and then "next".9. At this point there will be drop down menus to select your home network, and this part will recognize your network password.10. Click "Apply".You can now disconnect the network cable. Your printer should have an active wireless connection to your network.11. Download the latest drivers from Samsung12. When the application launches, choose "custom install"13. the driver software should auto-discover your printer on the network now; if it fails it will prompt you for the IP address you wrote down in step 3.14. The rest is auto-pilot. It will install drivers and ask you if this printer is the default; print test page, etc....Once I did this, the Samsung printer worked like a dream. It's compact, prints well and only has one cable - power. It's unfortunate that Samsung's instructions are so bad, and that their installation wizard failed to work on USB. The extra steps I've given above take less time to do than they appear. Good luck!
