Another reason I bought them is the advertisement they are doing about how well they work in the plane and I saw many people in the plane wearing them. Well, it is totally true. I fly internationally pretty often and I spend around 15 hours in planes. With these headphones on I don't get ringing ears or headaches anymore! Regarding comfort I can wear them for hours without any problem.
I am very happy I got this product and I highly recommend to give it a try!
I've always been a fan of Bose audio when I would listen to it in a store or at someone's house and never really got when people would say they were "over rated" or "too expensive". After receiving these headphones, I can safely say I am still a fan of Bose. Actually, I can say I've become a much bigger fan of Bose now. First off, the noise cancellation is insane. It blocks out just as much as my in-ears did, if not more. If you have music at any decent level of volume, good luck trying to hear anything unless someone is actually shouting at you from close by. Second, the sound quality is absolutely superb. I thought my in-ears were great but I can hear even more details with these that I never heard with the in-ears. Everything seems pretty well balanced to me, and the sound feels like it's surrounding you. When you have the NC on (which you should always have on to get the best sound quality), it feels like you are literally in your own world with your favorite music surrounding you.
Anyways, I'm not the biggest expert to compare these for you to the QC 15's or other over-ear headphones but you can take it from a skeptic that I am heavily impressed. I read all the good and bad reviews and just decided to take the plunge which worked out greatly in my favor. If you're on the edge, just take the leap. After all, you can always return them within 30 days if you don't like them. I have a strong feeling that a vast majority of people who buy these will NOT be disappointed (I mean look at the reviews these have already). I will be much more open to buying future Bose products after my experience with these headphones.
I've read some reviews from some buyers that said they wouldn't upgrade from a QC15. I'd have to agree for the most part. Honestly for me, I wouldn't have purchased and kept the QC15, because they weren't good enough audio quality and did take up a lot of space. The QC25 to me are a very good and needed upgrade from the QC15.
I have to say I am very impressed with the QC25. Not only were they still fantastic for noise canceling (the best I've had from Sennheiser, Shure and Audio Technica), but they were nearly on-par with some of the nicer sets of Sennheiser, Shure and Audio Technica I've had in the past. Most Bose products I've had in the past are purely for the Bose name, but it appears that the Bose engineers really listened to customers, and got their act together for the QC25. I don't think they're as good as a set of audiophile cans, but these are probably the best you can get for traveling. They fold up super compact, have great battery life (I like the AAA battery option since rechargeable have to be recharged if they die, whereas with a AAA, you can just put one in - great for traveling a lot and forgetting to charge your headphones :(), and audio quality is fantastic. Base is defined, but not blasting your brains out, treble is very clear, and precise, as well as mids are very smooth. I'm thoroughly impressed with these, and won't be looking for another set of travel cans. Honestly, these are good - good enough for me to not need a set of cans for the office and for travel. They block all background noise around me, and have fantastic sound.
Get a set - you won't be disappointed.
Pros-
Some of the most outstanding sound quality I've ever heard form headphones. They have a great balance of sound, and the bass isn't overdone like some other headphones in this price range.
Build quality is outstanding, and they feel good to wear. I haven't had the chance to travel with them, but if my travel experiences change my impression of these, I'll update this review.
The case is one of the best ones I've ever had the privilege to use. It's got space for an extra AAA battery, and fits the headphones snugly, so there's absolutely no concern of breakage.
Sound Isolation on this model is fantastic. When I first but them on and had them on my ears, I tried just turning on the sound isolation without having any device plugged in, and the experience was fantastic
Cons-
Battery is required for reliable usage and sound isolation. The feature can be turned off with a switch on the headphones, but it doesn't sound great. Case has space for an extra, which is nice for extended travel.
For the price, I really wish these were Bluetooth compatible.
After sampling the qc15s at an airport shop, I was impressed, but held off buying them because the qc15s need a battery to function. The new qc25, however, only need the battery for active noise cancelling and a little extra amplification - but if you run out of juice you can still listen to music using them as regular passive headphones.
They are very, very comfortable, and don't give you hot ears after a few hours use. For large headphones, they fold fairly small, and the case means that they pack easily.
Used without any input, they muffle and background noise - continuous droning type noises are almost completely eliminated, but you do still hear some things. There is a little hiss when used like this, but it's not enough to bother me, and it's inaudible when music is playing.
With music playing, you simply get lost in it - the outside world just seems to disappear! I'm no audiophile, but to me they have a really well balanced sound - enough bass without being overpowering, beautifully clear vocals, and sharp treble. The sound quality is reduced a fair bit without the battery, but they're still good enough if you get stuck.
I'm sure I could have got better sounding headphones for this kind of money, but I doubt I could have got better performing noise cancellation. Overall, these are amazing for what I want to use them for.
Why not 5 stars? A couple of minor niggles.
- the inline remote is Apple standard, so doesn't work on my android devices. Play/pause/answer works on the centre button, but vol up/down don't... A shame Bose don't offer a choice of cable (yet!)
- with the cable attached, it has to bend quite sharply in the case, so I'm disconnecting it each time - over time, this may loosen the connection
- there isn't really anywhere to store the cable, it just kinda lies in and around the headphones in the case. Slightly annoying, and possibly will rub on the headphones and scratch when travelling
Despite those niggles, I'm more than pleased with these - they still give me a great big grin everything I use them. If you want the best audio experience in a quiet environment, then you can probably do better. Add some background noise into the mix and these are simply superb. Best purchase I made in a long time.
Instructions are easy to follow- Six steps and pictures from inserting the battery to storing the headphones. In the case is one battery included which is inserted in the top of the right headphone- Diagram inside on which way the battery goes and the piece that opens the battery compartment is easily opened with pressing and pushing up on the plastic piece. I opened and closed the piece many times- No problems and wasn't flimsy like I thought it might be..
Comes with a extra 3.5 mm dual output jack for commonly used in airplanes with some airlines as well as the normal audio cable with connections for calls and audio adjustments for Apple products. This is stored nicely in the case with a extra slot for a back-up battery to be kept. They are very comfortable. Comfortable soft fabric foam on my ears and on top of my head..Adjusts for bigger, or longer heads. Inside the headphones are the Left and Right Indicators for use.
I first listened to my music without the power, and without a battery inserted. The sound quality was still great and the headphones did cut out much of the background noise. Inserting a battery and just turning the power on the head phones, the background noise was significantly decreased to eliminating workplace chatter. Definitely a acoustic difference with this test. I do have to turn the volume down with the power is on, as it boosts the bass level for my music and movie watching experience which is nice compared to my other headphones and volume levels I am used too .
I have used with my iPad, iPod and my Samsung Galaxy S5- The call quality and voice quality is great with these headphones on while making a call on my Galaxy, although I don't prefer to talk on the phone with full cover headphones on- Too much stereo for my conversations. If you touch the headphones while listening to audio you will get some feedback, but that has been normal in my experience. Moving around my home there is no feedback, only when touching the headphones.
This is only my second pair of Bose Headphones. Although I am not a expert in anyway with headphones or electronics these are so much of a upgrade compared to my SoundTrue Headphones. Movies are incredible now and I can't wait to fly with these headphones. I can now watch my iPad in a busy filled work lounge or living room and not hear anything else around me. Its quite incredible. My personal electronic experience has now been boosted to a level I didn't think I would experience. The sound quality is magnificent.
As always I will update any changes and significant changes if they arise
I don't have to blast my music and damage my hearing to hear the music that's drowned out from the noise of traffic like I did before. I just put these headphones on and I'm immersed in my own little world of music as I walk to work. Death Metal and all the other sub genres od Metal sound great on these headphones, as does Classical, Jazz and Scottish music (I listen to a little bit of everything). All of the sounds of traffic seem so far away and I can actually hear my music without having to turn up the volume so loud. They're also great for using at home if you're listening to music at work during lunch and you dont want to disturb others.
The Bose QC-25's may be expensive but they're worth the money, in my opinion. If your going to spend that kind of money on headphones, always go with Bose.
I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for a high end set of headphones. I previously had Bose in ear earphones and absolutely loved them. These however are even more superior.
The fact that they cover your ears completely is brilliant. I've owned other noise cancelling headphones which were brilliant (AKG headphones) but they didn't completely cover my ear. Again, they are more superior to the AKG's in the fact that they cover the ear. As for the sound, it's not that far off. Don't get me wrong, the sound is brilliant and I think the bass is awesome. I suggest, if using your iPhone, getting an app called Tuneshell as you can really tweak all your sound setting and get them exactly how you like them. Sound is different for everyone so you're always going to get different reviews. I personally think it's down to the user, some like them, some don't........I love them.
Overall I think these are great. The build quality is good even though it's plastic. They won't break easy, check out the YouTube reviews where reviewers bend them. The sound quality is great, if you're using an iPhone, get the Tuneshell app and tweak the sound to your liking. They fit comfy, covering your ears completely. The one thing I don't like is that my ears sometime feel like they've popped or that I have air pressure in my ears. I'm guessing it's simply because the cups cause a bit of a vacuum.
Also, they come with a little case. This a great little case and the headphones fit in perfectly. There's even space for a spare battery! Great product but very expensive. I would recommend waiting for the price to come down as it's constantly fluctuating!

The TRUTH - it's more like a step sideways for those upgrading from QC15s. Here's why:
1. Ear cups are a bit stiffer - not as soft as the previous version. Maybe for durability, but don't claim they are more comfortable. They are a little LESS comfortable than the QC15's. The look is nicer though and less corporate looking. But that's not worth the price difference - this is for sound, not style.
2. Noise reduction is good - always good, but hardly different from the old ones. And worse, now people can hear my music from the outside. I liked how silent my old ones were. Now these are very obvious when I am listening to loud music. So much for being stealth with my sounds.
3. Sound level tops out - WTF? These do NOT get loud. I've maxed out the volume on many different sources - there must be some volume cap, which sucks. Sometimes it's nice to kick it up to serious levels when you are in the mood. And dammit, you can't do that with these. Weak.
4. Sound quality - people used to complain the Bose sound was 'flat'. I never agreed. They sounded great to me. Now these claim to be SO much better with sound. Um, please. Not really - they are essentially the same thing, no matter how many marketing terms they print, they only have a bit more depth and separation, but its extremely subtle. I went back and forth between old and new with the same song and, eh, who the hell hears the difference? No one really. They are blowing smoke if they say they are.
Overall, while I like these headphones - don't be fooled. Don't get too excited. You can get the older QC15s and be just as happy.
I am autistic, labelled Aspergers. As such I get overloaded with sound in meetings, seminars concerts etc. Ive tried ear plugs of every kind and sound protection headphones of all grades. I found industrial headphones made me look rather silly with the inevitable questions.
I'm in my fifties but soon noticed all kinds of headphones strapped on peoples heads of all ages that looked "cool" or at least acceptable.
When I wear these the only comments are questions as to whether they are blue tooth because there aren't wires attached for music.
I can hold a normal conversation with the sound cancelling on without raising my voice in busy places and meetings. For the first time in years I can shop in supermarkets and department stores and go to the theatre or cinema without leaving after twenty minutes. I know this isn't a normal review and I've gone for Bose based on other reviews but they are a life changer for me. If you have or know any autistic people mention this to them, I found out by chance. As for the music, I haven't tried that yet but id imagine with the background rubbish removed they would be exceptional!
The only plus for QC25 is that is lighter and the noise cancelling is slightly better than in the parrots.
I had to return the QC25 immediately.
Specific areas where the new model is worse than the older one:
- headband padding is velour on the 25 vs leather on the 15
- headband padding is quite hard and uncomfortable on the 25s. The 15 headband padding is very soft and never gets uncomfortable, even after 12 hours straight wearing
- all components are cheaper plastic on the 25. the 15s have better quality plastic and metal where it matters (e.g. in the headband extension)
- sound quality on the 25 is really poor with noise cancelling turned on
- connector is cheap on the 25
- cable is cheap with a cheap plastic feel on the 25
With a daily train commute and regular long-haul flying, I have been trying to find a decent pair of noise cancelling headphones for over a year now, and have gone through so many it's untrue. At first I was a bit skeptical about these, having tried my fathers QC15's and not liking the presseurised feeling I got in my ears, so I tried out the QC20i's - the first pair were, I think, duff and had to be returned. While I liked the second pair, I still couldn't get a comfortable fit with the buds and so found the noise cancelling a disappointment. And the position of the battery was just daft.
Then Bose announced the QC25's and I popped in to a Bose store to try them out. From the first listen they seemed ideal - the outside world, including a child throwing a hissy fit in the store, was gone. There was just me and the music. I was sold on them there and then, and ordered from Amazon as soon as I got home.
Here we are a couple of weeks later and I'm even happier with them. The big problem I've always had with over ears is that I wear glasses and find that in order to get a decent seal over your ears, most are tensed to the point where they push my glasses into the side of my head, which quickly becomes very uncomfortable (Beats Executive, I'm looking at you especially here). I do not have this problem with the QC25's - the top of the pad rests against the arms of my glasses and then molds around them. It's exactly what I'd looked for and have no problems wearing them for long periods now.
Sound quality is excellent, and has certainly improved as they have broken in. Going back to an in-ear pair sounds rather brash now. Battery life has also been excellent - these get a lot of use from me, and I'd say I got a touch over 40 hours before I had to change the battery - I like that the carry case has a dedicated cut out for a spare.
I haven't had any issues with the cable as per one of the previous reviews, mine fits into the headphones very snuggly and stays there. I do agree that the other end looks a bit flimsy, which is a little disappointing on something that costs so much, but at least the cable is replaceable. I was also surprised that the play/stop/skip button worked on my android phone - just a shame volume doesn't, but then it is only advertised to support Apple.
Overall, while these are expensive, they are exactly what I have been looking for and, as such, I consider it money well spent
I tried the QC25 after having had a great experience with my QC15 for many years, and returned them after five days. Not only were they less comfortable, they committed the unforgivable sin of leaking my music all over the place. People in the next room could hear them at max volume, and even at 50% volume, they were clearly audible only a few feet away. This wasn't tolerable, so I immediately returned them, and switched back to my good old 15s, but decided to order a new pair of ear cushions for them, since the original cushions had started falling apart. I got the new cushions and what did I find but the exact same pads from the QC25 with the exact same problem with noise leakage. What a coincidence. Maybe its the smaller, less padded, less comfortable, more irritating cushions that Bose has suddenly become so fond of, but whatever the cause, I can't live with headphones that broadcast my music to the entire dormitory, for I am not a radio station.
One surprising thing for me is that they don't eliminate speaking voices. In fact, on a plane (even a prop plane!) where the ambient noise is quite loud, once you eliminate the noise, you can hear conversations quite clearly that are not understandable without the noise reduction.
In a house with normal household sounds, putting these on is like a little vacation. You don't have to listen to music or even have the cord attached to enjoy the quiet these provide.
The only con I've noticed is that sometimes when I first turn them on, they add some pressure to my ears. Not horribly uncomfortable, but just slightly so. Also, it's good to avoid having wind hit these in any way, as it causes some strange distortion.
Wrapping up: I love these! They are expensive, but worth every penny.
I found the headphones extremely comfortable and I had no problem wearing them for up th eight hours continiously. I have used them in various outdoor conditions and found the noise cancelling function works perfectly; even eliminating noise generated by strong winds.
On the headphone cable you will find the remote controls for use when receiving calls on your iphone and for remotely controlling the music function. My one criticism was the way these buttons worked when changing tracks/ fast forwarding etc. Press the middle button once to pause and then again to resume. No problem. The other functions require to press the same button multiple times. If you loose count or do not press rapidly enough you inevitably select the wrong function. I gave up in the end and just operated the ipod locally. volume control used the standard two buttons which were no problem. I daresay you could master these buttons (similar to double clicking a computer mouse) but I found it a bit of a faff, especially if you have sausage fingers!
The audio reproduction was excellent. I am not an expert when it comes to acoustics but I enjoyed whatever music or podcasts I played and the benefit of the noise cancelling was you didn't need to crank up the volume to hear it and thus suffered no distortion or damaged hearing.
The headphones come in a stylish carry case. The headphones fold up neatly inside along with a spare battery holder and the airplane two pin adaptor jack. Externally there is a handy elasticated pocket which I found ideal to store my ipod. The AAA battery is quoted as lasting up to 35 hours when using the noise cancelling function. You can use the headphones without if you want as they do not require power to operate. I used the function almost every day for two weeks and the battery was still good at the end.
In conclusion, a first class product that is expensive but worth the money if noise cancelling is a priority
Honestly, I do not notice a quality difference between these and the older pair- but I'm also not an audio professional. We are merely frequent travelers who prefer to watch movies, listen to music, podcasts, etc without the sometimes loud engine sounds or crying babies.
While the case for this set is sleeker (rectangular), I do prefer the older case (round). My husband struggles a bit with remember the correct way to fold his headphones to store properly. It's only a minor issue and just something we have not gotten used to yet.
I highly recommend these headphones for any travelers or those often in noisy areas in which they wish to ignore the chaos around and instead stay focused on your choice media.
I found the QC25s an improvement over all the other Bose I've used. First, the noise-cancellation is just great. The real reason to get these headphones is the cancellation. The previous Bose I've had were fine, but these are far, far better. I noticed no hiss, no distortion, no real change in frequency of the source sound. I was really impressed, even when comparing it to older Bose headphones. And, crucially, they still sound great with noise-canceling off.
The headphones were very comfortable as well. They were good for wearing for at least a couple hours, unlike the QC15s, which I found to be irritating after an hour or so. They were maybe a little less comfortable than the AE2i, but that's a pretty high bar.
The sound was great, but like all Bose, the bass was boosted significantly. Most people like this. I prefer something a little flatter, but I can't fault the Bose sound, either. The bass boost was particularly useful for spoken content, which was clear even in noisy conditions.
The headphones come with a nice case, into which they fold up very nicely. The cable is detachable, which I think makes them last much longer. They also come with an airplane adapter, which I suppose is a nice touch. There are two version of these headphones, one for iOS and one for Samsung/Android devices. The Android version controls do NOT work with iPhone.
The fit is really comfortable and well padded, goes over the entire ear and the headband will not snag hair. (only once on the ear-cuff hinge)
Wound up returning to the manufacturer after 2 months. Exchange was painless, the Bose call-in line was fast and did not waste any of my time. Exchange process took less than a week to have a new headset in my hands, no charge for anything except shipping the old one back.
The Amazon warranty....Frustrated, Miserable and a Waste of over an Hour, I was trying to buy coverage for the headset I was about to receive from Bose- highly disappointed.
My problem. The jack that connects to the headphones themselves. While listening I noticed that my arm caught the cord only ever so slightly and the music cut out completely in the right ear. The headphones themselves didn't even move out of position. I thought I just didn't have them in all the way and after attempting to push it in further it became apparent it indeed was in all the way. Some research online turned up some YouTube videos of the exact same problem where the slightest touch of the cable knocks out the right ear and you have to just faintly push it in again.
Sorry, I'm not going to constantly do this not for $300 pair of headphones. If you're not moving and just sitting or laying down listening to music they're fantastic but soon as you start moving forget about it even just walking with them in bumps it out.
Returning them tomorrow for sure.
I'm pleased to say that these headphones are exceptional. Very comfortable to wear & the sound quality is remarkable. When you activate the noise cancelling feature, it is almost as if you are actually there with the sound. I listen to a lot of online spoken word radio as well as to music & whilst listening to radio programmes, you are far more aware of the ambient background noise in the broadcast. I.e. Wind, footsteps etc..
You can still detect faint background noises In your listening environment, but it' almost as if the headphones are literally sucking it out & filtering it for you - Like a "Dolby" system for your ears. Voices are reduced to a whisper & annoying unwanted background noise disappears.
Don't hesitate about buying these Bose headphones. You won't regret it.
Just as an update to my prior review, I contacted Bose, as some other reviewers had suggested. It turns out I was still in warranty and they replaced them without much hassle. I have to commend their customer service in this instance as it they were actually great to deal with. I'm hoping my replacement headphones hold up. They sound great just like the originals.
I owned some old Bose headphones a few years ago, but they were not noise cancelling, and, overall, these are a good step up.
These QC25 are extremely comfortable - I could wear them constantly for a very long time. I will really be putting that to the test on an upcoming transcontinental flight that will run over 8 hours...
The noise cancelling functionality is really great. It's fun to play around with too... obviously it does not block out everything completely, particularly unpredictable noise patterns, e.g. conversations, but it does just enough so that you can enjoy your audio content at very moderate or even low volume settings.
Regarding quality, the hardware quality is great. As I said before, the ear pieces are very comfortable, and they appear well designed and built. I know they are relatively fragile because I did in my last pair by accidentally sitting on them, but i wouldnt expect any more from lightweight thin plastic. However, those old headphones did not have foldable ear pieces like the QC25, a feature which i believe would have prevented my last pair from breaking like they did. It also makes for very convenient/compact storage.
For sound quality, they are great. Again, I don't want to go into audiophile land, but given that these are compact, noise cancelling, and have very minimal noise leakage, I think the sound is great across the board. I'm a bit big on bass, and these provide the punch I am used to in my car with my subs. The only other headphones I've seen people reference as having better overall sound quality and bass cannot compete as a full package on the three things I previously mentioned: size, noise cancelling, and noise leakage.
Overall, I love my Bose products, and, unfortunately for Bose, I hope I can go on to enjoy this same pair for decades to come!
There are several features that make these headphones my favorite:
The comfortable design - Bose has modified the shape of the headband. Not only is the material soft but it conforms to the shape of your head even better than other models. When we go on our next family vacation, these will definitely be going with us. I will be able to sit back and watch a movie or listen to music without disturbing the other individuals in the van.
The construction - These Bose headphones seem to be better constructed and of a higher quality than other headphones I have tried. They are light weight with cast-zinc hinges and a removable cord. The headphones use one AAA battery for power but will continue to play even after the battery has died. The battery will give you 35 hours of sound before it dies, 35 hours of peace and quiet that will be greatly appreciated when you take that long family trip with an infant and an 8 year old. I can't wait for our family trip now...lol
Color - I received the headphones in white but they also comes in black and for a little more money you can even customize your headphones.
Carrying case - While I wish the carrying case was just a little bit bigger, I do like the size of the carrying case and the fact that it has a slot for an extra battery.
There are only two drawbacks that I see when it comes to these headphones. One, the price. Now, if you are a connoisseur of high-quality electronics and do not mind paying $300 for a set of headphones these would be a great investment. Secondly, I wish there was other option for storing the cord in the case. Maybe redesigning the case to allow the cord to fit along the outer edge of the headphones might be a better idea than simply trying to roll up the cord and stuff it into the case in some fashion that allows you to close the case without damaging the cord itself. The headphones themselves fit into the case well and these headphones take up less room than some of the other comparable headphones on the market. These two facts are minor when you consider the amazing quality of sound that you receive when you use them.
They sound fantastic with my iphone 6 and are fully compatible. The controller on the mic works like a charm in switching music, volume, pausing, etc.
I have to say I never expected this from Bose. These guys were "The god" of music. I feel so sad, I asked for a replacement, but nothing can replace the disappointment I faced, this was a gift, I wanted it to be perfect. Why did you let me down Bose?
However, the sound quality is very tin-y and you have to turn them way up in order to even get a half way decent sound. Once you've turned your volume up to about 80% the sound leakage is ridiculous. Sure, you won't be able to hear the sounds around you, but someone sitting next to you will hear every note and every line of your song... Embarrassing if you feel like entertaining that side of you that has a sudden need to rock out to KE$HA.
Minor thing: If the cable isn't in the exact right spot on the headphones, the sound will buzz and cut out.
These are not worth the money, sorry to say.
Anyway, I put on the QC 25s and the joy is back! The deep base, the crystal treble, the sounds of fingers sliding on guitar strings. I can appreciate the rich details of what seems like pretty simple music on the radio. They turn a nothing experience into an enjoyable one.
The noise canceling is definitely noticeable. I can remember when they made headphones that claimed to cancel noise but I could not detect a difference when I switched them on. Not the case here. These definitely reduce background noise.
Sound is simply amazing, well balanced, noise cancelling works fine. I have tried and owned a lot of different OE headphones and IE versions, an probably the QC25 provide the best sound all around, nice full body bass when needed, good medium and not too much highs that I find often annoying.
They are conformable to wear, but the Bose sound true headset is much lighter and comfy than the QC25.
I commute to work with the noisy tube, your journey it is just a new experience, you will find yourself completely disconnected by the people around you, and fully immersed into the music.
are 200+ worth it? yes, we live only once, if you like music, the QC25 are the best way to enjoy it.
First is Bose construction and quality. The head adjustment itself is smooth and tactile but solid and along with the over the ear cushions make these headphones so comfortable. I don't feel any pressure at all. And even though they are sturdy and well made headphones they are also very light.
Without the battery or noise cancelation turned off you will notice very little external noise. With noise cancelation turned on it's like being in another world. It's amazing the difference it makes; it's like a brick wall is formed around you. Be careful you might be singing too loud! You can barely hear your own voice.
The headphones are universal; the cable can be removed and replaced with one compatible with other devices. This one came compatible for Samsung and Android devices. However, the controls do not work at all with our Kindle Fires. It does pause and start music on our iPods and MacBook Pro. For about $25 you can get the compatible cable which includes microphone to answer phone calls. But really, these headphones are so good I wouldn't want my music interrupted!
Noise cancelation is turned on and off with a little switch on the right side. Bose systems do not have sound adjustments but with some songs you may notice slightly less base with noise cancelation turned on which I actually prefer.
Overall, I couldn't be happier. The sound is what I care about. Having the ability to control the device is a nice feature but not one I rarely use.
+The hard carrying case is very well designed - it protects the headphones pretty well and fits them nicely.
+The hard carrying case holds an extra AAA battery, includes an air plane seat audio port adapter (which is very useful), and has a pouch on the back to hold things such as a passport.
+The headphones have a very sleek design, especially compared to their predecessor, the Bose QuietComfort 15s.
+The ear cushions fit very well, and remain comfortable even after prolonged usage
+The headphones are quite light.
+The noise-cancelling is absolutely phenomenal - it is unmatched.
+Sound leakage is non-existent at regular volumes, but even at high volumes it can barely be heard.
Cons:
-The sound quality isn't bad, but it is sub-par for this price range. There are headphones that are two thirds of this price that have the same sound quality without the noise-cancellation.
-The battery is held in the right earmuff, and sometimes rattles
-If in a quiet room with noise-cancellation activated, a slight hissing noise can be heard from the headphones.
-The controls seem a bit too far up the cable.
-The cable sometimes moves out a little bit from the headphones, which stops sound from coming out the earmuff.
Overall:
These headphones have the best noise-cancellation available on the market. The sound quality isn't anything amazing so unless you are frequently in environments with annoying ambient noise (such as on an airplane), you should stay away from these. These are very well constructed but I recommend you try these out at a store before you buy them.
Pros:
The look great. Better than the regular model.
Comfortable enough for me to wear them for 14 hours.
Great NC properties
Exceptional battery life
Easy to replace the battery
Quality sound that lasts
Good quality container to protect them from light travel
Cons:
Price
The cord is relatively short
Storage inside the container could be better to hold the cord in place with out jimmying it in
Overall
I would recommend these. I hope they hold up. The only thing I would add is a good hard case if you plan on doing any deploying or attempting an expedition. You have to have some creature comforts.
They really come into their own when travelling, the noise cancellation is absolutely second to none.
I recently used these on a 13 hour long haul flight from the UK to China & was actually able to sleep on the flight for the first time ever.
It was like I was sitting in my own private, silent sound bubble, the noise of the aircraft is reduced so much it's actually quite unbelievable!
And because of this you do not need to blast your eardrums with excessive volume as you do with the disposable headphones that are supplied by the Airline. Even if you don't want to listen to music or watch a film you can simply pull out the cord and read your book or have a snooze in almost total silence.
As you would expect when paying such a premium price, these headphones are very well made and extremely comfortable to wear.
They do sometimes feel a little strange when you first turn the noise cancellation on, A slight change in pressure perhaps?
I would not recommend these for home use, I can't really see the point and they are really expensive, however if you travel regularly, they are an absolute godsend. Trains, planes, coaches, commuting - just treat yourself, you won't be disappointed.
Definitely one of the best investments I've made in a long time and I fussed about for ages looking at headphones that were less money.
Very easy to forget to turn them off though, Just keep a spare battery in your case.
I really love this Little bit of luxury and have already enjoyed them immensely.
Looking forward to my next long haul flight now & constantly rediscovering so much of my forgotten music collection.
So SO Pleased with these.
Well done Bose this product has surpassed my expectations and is well worth the hefty price tag.
The left ear has no longer has sound coming out of it. The noise canceling no longer functions. Its as if a wire has come loose from the internal circuitry. The speaker emits no sound...
Once this happened, I checked reviews here on Amazon and elsewhere this is a common problem. There are many complaints about the quality of these Bose headphones. If anyone can point me to the right Bose customer service department that would help (link please). I'll try and take it up with Bose, but really a $300 product should not fail in 14 months (and just out of the one year warranty period!) If they help positively, I'll update this review.....
1. I must say the sound quality is awesome when listening to music.
2. I've done several VoIP conferences, so I know the mic works well.
3. The Noise-canceling is awesome, particularly when you are doing air travel as it blocks out the engine noise. You can just throw them on, turn on the noise canceling (without playing any music/video) and then voila, you have blissful peace; you can now go to sleep or concentrate on some tasks such as reading a magazine or getting work done on your laptop. It also cancels noise created from Air Conditioners like in rooms at home an work where I frequently use my computer.
4. As for the physical characteristics
- It's lightweight;
- the fit is perfect as the clamping is the best I've ever tried in any over-the ear headphone and its ear cushions are soft (at least for my ears); I actually think I could use these at the gym but I won't because I'm not willing to risk damaging them with water/sweat.
- the overall build quality is just right; it doesn't feel "plasticy" like the Beats headphones. The materials that it is constructed with allow quite a bit of flex, which means I have less chance of physical damage.
Never thought I'd spend this much on a pair of headphone, but these are now the standard that I'll base ay other headphone that I try in the future. I wish they had the equivalent in a bluetooth model, but I'm not looking forward to the starting price on that.
The first thing you notice with these headphones is the size, they're quite a bit larger than my P3's so take a bit of getting used to. They're made from a strong plastic with cushioned headband and earcups and the cable connects to one side of the headphones, which I generally prefer as I find the cable can get in the way sometimes with other headphones. You also get a carrying case which is useful if you plan on taking them with you and need something to protect them in your bag.
One of the best things about these headphones, for me anyway, is the noise cancellation feature. Even when I have my headphones on fairly loud I can still usually hear what's going on around me, one of the downsides to living in a noisy household I suppose. But with the Bose headphones you really do hear your music and just your music getting rid of any external sounds. It'll be interesting to see how long the battery lasts, Bose claim 35 hours so we'll see how accurate that is. I tend to use my headphones quite a bit so I may find myself replacing the battery quite often.
As for the sound, well it's very hard to describe but it's the best I've had from a pair of headphones to date. I listen to a range of different types of music and usually find that a particular pair of headphones is better suited to a certain type of music. These Bose headphone seem to accurately reproduce all kinds of music from my collection. Bass is where I usually have a problem and when listening to classical music or something orchestral I tend to find that the track is overpowered with the bass and you never get a full all round sound. The Bose headphones accomplish this with ease and make it a pleasure to listen to my collection once more. When listening to vocal tracks there seems to be an even balance between the bass, mids and the vocal highs.
So far I've been using these headphones every day since I've had them and for quite a few hours each day. They're comfortable to wear and the sound is just great, noise cancellation is by far the best feature for me.
Why am I only giving them 3 stars? I am about to have another replacement from Amazon as the build quality is not good. I have had three of these fail with the same fault. They work well for about three months than the right earpiece sound goes. That's the one the folds up.
I use them every day on my commute to work and back so its annoying when they fail. When you pay over £250 for a set of headphones you expect more than 3 months use. I had an earler set of Bose QC headphones and they were incredibly reliable and my son is now using them after ovber 5 years of use.
So, I have no problems with Bose or the design. However, the reliability and durability is awful.
Really impressed with Amazon's returns service though. It is incredibly efficient and easy to use. So well done to Amazon. You get 5 stars from me. Bose, you just scrape a three on this one. Sort your build quality out.

Any subtle movement would cause the right ear to go out. I figured this was an issue with the cord, but I checked on here and this seems to be a common issue. Even if it WAS just the cord, that is absolutely unacceptable for a pair of $300 headphones.
After a few days the sound would constantly cut in and out and the headphones were pretty much useless.
I returned the product and given all the issues others are having, will not be trying out another pair. Most of the negative reviews for this product have been in the past year, so I am wondering if they had some change in quality control.
Sadly, this was my first experience with a Bose product. Given the bad experience I had and the seemingly shoddy quality of its very expensive product, it will also be my last.
Recently, the ear pads on my QC15s wore out and, although I replaced them with genuine Bose products, the new ones kept popping off. Thus, when the QC25s came out, I thought I would try them. Right out of the box, the improvements in sound quality and noise cancellation were noticeable. The QC25s sound much brighter, more precise, more sensitive and spacious than the comparatively muddy sounding QC15s. Furthermore, they cancelled out the white noise machine noticeably better than did the QC15s. Both distinctions were instantly apparent and do not factor in any burn-in of the QC25s. Also, the QC25s are more comfortable and more substantial than my QC15s, which I kept and still work.
Now, some users may not find these improvements to be dramatic enough to plop down $300 to replace functioning QC15s--especially if you use them infrequently for travel. But if you use these headphones on a daily basis, I recommend the upgrade.
As per the Sennheisers, they still are better for television viewing for two reasons: They don’t totally blank out all ambient sound, which prevents me from being startled; and they are better built, which helps them better survive being tossed around the TV room on a daily basis. What are the sound quality differences between the Sennheiser PXC 450s and the QC25s? A close call from my perspective, it comes down to taste—I lean toward the QC25s. But the noise cancellation is not close at all, the QC25s are VASTLY superior, plus the Sennheisers eat batteries, even when NC is turned off.
