these have been amazing. i am addicted to them. I got them because my mom has trouble flying due to the noise. It triggers seizures, so I needed something that would help her make it home safely. She used them and said that she could barely hear the plane at alll. I fly 2x a month and love using them. It's fun to turn off the 'noise cancelling' after having them on for an hour and hearing how much louder they are.
They are pricier than some other models but well worth it. The case they come in is nice too for traveling as they compact really easily.

I've always wanted a pair of Bose noise cancelling headphones. These certainly do not disappoint. It's amazing how it drowns out the noise when the noise cancelling is turned on. It's not a complete "dome-of-silence", you can still hear people talking to you if you aren't playing music and just have the noise cancelling turned on. But with constant humming noises in the background, like air conditioners, it does an excellent job of cancelling that noise almost entirely. I have not used on an airplane, but I trust that is really helps with the noise of the engines.
Even some naysayers of the Bose noise cancelling headphones were impressed when they actually tried them.
I also love the hard case and the remove-able cord.

Although we haven't actually bought any of these yet, my girlfriend and I tried them last night, in a store here in Belgium.
In a word: Wow.
We were both left completely speechless by the noise-cancelling capabilities of these headphones, and I could tell she was seriously thinking of putting back on the shelf the wireless 'phones I had just offered to buy her.
It doesn't often happen that a 'product' completely blows you away, but these things did it.
A bit pricey?

But the sound quality and, indeed, the sound quality (of the build) would be forgotten years before these things needed replacing.
I KNOW that we'll be buying at least two sets.

DO NOT BUY THE WHITE Bose QuiteComfort 25 headphones. Amazon replaced the first pair, that stopped working after two days. The second pair didn't work right from the time I opened the box. I do not know if the Black pair has the same issue.

Great on a plane. Was seated near the jets on my last flight and it was quiet enough to relax. Recommend. These would be even better wireless.

I tried this before directly at a store. Really amazing sound quality but even more amazing how noise really gets cancelled! I got other pair (brand not even worth to mention it) that claimed to provide the same experience for way less cost, the fact is that you can't go wrong with Bose. Just got my favorite headphones now!

Have used these on commercial planes about 4 times so far. They are comfortable and really knock out the engine noise. I also use these while keeping them off because the sound is much better than my other headphones. I like the black/gray design and would have opted for the custom color option from their website, but I couldn't justify it for an additional $100. These come with a nice case and an adapter for older model airliners (double plugs).

I love these headphones but it requires a AAA battery and the switch hard for me to remember to turn off, even though it has a nice pleasing light to show battery is in use. Someone here recommended a pack of Enerloop batteries to recharge one while the other is in use and wow am I glad I did that! Super helpful

Not quite as comfortable as the Bose QC15. That being sad, these headphones rock! They provide a deeper bass that was lacking in the QC15. You just can't beat the sound quality you get with Bose.

I don't know how I lived without these before. I am a graduate student with noisy neighbors who like to blast their TV. With these, I can't hear anything and I can actually get work done! My only complaint is that the battery has to be replaced frequently. I wish Bose would develop some rechargeable headphones (unless they have and I am out of the loop).

Definitely one to steer clear of. Whilst the headphones reduce external noise, they certainly do not cancel it. On both a plane and a train I had to turn up the volume to exclude background noise whilst external voices were clearly audible - completely undermining the point of them. To a degree this view may be subjective but what is not is that the quality of materials used is very poor. The headphones feel plasticky and poorly made and vastly inferior to comparable headphones in this price range (B&Ws for instance) and the QuietComfort 15s which i owned previously and which I thought were fine - these seem a significant step backwards. The sound quality is ok, hence the 2 stars, but you can do so much better in this price range. Mine went back.

My husband often flies for business and loves these noise-canceling head phones. Not only does Bose offer a superior product, I discovered through this purchase that it offers excellent customer service. It was one of those days. I bought these as a Christmas present for my husband, thinking I was getting him the blue tooth head phones. Not only did I buy the same not-blue-tooth ones he already owned, but he actually wanted the smaller ear buds which fit more easily into a carry-on bag. Having experienced first hand the pain involved in returning something to Amazon, I took a chance and called the Bose store in Chicago. Incredibly, the manager allowed me to do an in-store exchange, easy-peasy. Thanks, Bose!

I had an older pair of Bose QuietComfort headphones, so bought these for my son for Christmas. To be honest, I tried pretty hard to find a comparable headphone at a lower cost, but the truth is that every review I found said to get these. After a LOT of research, I surrendered and did just that. They fit on the ear comfortably, and the band is more padded than earlier versions. I particularly love that they work with or without a battery (without a battery, you lose the noise-canceling feature) and that the case is now slightly smaller. I wouldn't get on a plane without my Bose.

Few things that may not have come up in past reviews. First, the microphone and volume controls do not work with my Samsung S4. I knew this before purchasing that this could be the case. Next, anyone who recently bought these or plans to make sure you burn in your headphones before judging sound quality. I typically do between 60-100 hours of use. Bose tends to sound better over time. Finally many of the reviews mention the sound quality is not great if you do not use a battery. I agree with listening to music, the battery is a must. However, I watched a movie and TV shows while not using the battery and the quality was more than acceptable. The headphone still blocked a lot of surrounding noise.

Yes, I balked at the price. I have used other noise cancelling headphone in the past, and was pretty much satisfied with Etymotic ER4 and 5's with the foam inserts (the only way to go with these in my opinion). However, the noise cancelling and isolation is EXCELLENT with the QC25. Of course the sound is also amazing - very flat and clear. I am amazed at the lower volume I use with these and although have ALWAYS cranked up the bass and treble, seem now to prefer everything flat. Never thought I would... This could be a function that I generally use these on my Fiio X3 and X1 hi-res players, but also in that these work so well with those devices.

Great noise reduction. Can turn power to use as regular headphones to conserve battery. Overpriced. A luxury good. Other noise canceling headphones might be cheaper and even have superior sound, but the noise canceling ability of the Bose is second to none. Also, they are very lightweight, which allows you to keep them on your head for long periods of time. The headphones fit tightly in case. For quicker storage, use a padded bag.

They were the greatest thing until the right side went out for both music and NC. I thought no big deal I will just return them. But oh look it's been 6 months so you only have 30 days to return! Really! 30 days! and to think I spent $300 for these! You have got to be kidding me! Piece of junk,

The headphones fit great.: comfortable and not too heavy.The noise-cancelling feature works really well: there's a bit of wow-factor when you flip the switch. However, the bass isn't the best and the battery life for the noise-cancelling is short-lived.

Solid noise cancelling headphones. I dont believe you can do better than these. The headphones work as intended and are extremely comfortable on the ears. They are nice to look at and the build is quality. The only drawback to these are the price.

These were a gift to my wife, an editorial professional, who reports, in all seriousness and without any trace of irony, "These have changed my life." I believe she means these have helped her focus closely on her work; have minimized distractions; and have, in general, made every working moment in these cans better than all the moments before. Having tried them myself, I have to agree. If you haven't tried them, give them a shot to see what you think. I believe you'll be shocked and pleased.

OK...this was an almost "Oh hell why did I buy these?" purchase because they're expensive. But...they are wonderful and quiet and I relish spending time on flights not having to hear the plane noise and all of the general chatter around me when I'm trying to focus on work or a movie. They're still quite pricey, but I don't think I'll regret it for much longer.

I tested these out in a bose store in December and I could not get them out of my head, so four months later I purchased my own. I looked at several options before purchasing and in the end I spent the money and do not regret it. Best investment you will make.

I want to love these. And I'm not saying I don't. I've just used them on one trip. I guess I expected more complete noise cancellation. Maybe I just wanted too much from them? They do hush out the airplane hum but I could still perfectly hear everyone talking around me. Also they fit a little big on me.

Perfect noise cancellation. They look great. The blue wire looks good and works well. On the downside, they are bulky and if you're not used to the over-the-ear format, they could be a bit uncomfortable. There are much more comfortable over-the-ear headphones out there, which do a pretty good job in removing background noise, even without active noise cancellation.

I am returning the second set of Bose QC 25 headphones in about a week. I really like these headphones, they are comfortable, the sound is very good and they look and feel great. The problem was the same on both sets, a problem with cable jack or the jack receptical. On the first set the problem developed the first evening. The sound would go off and I would have to touch the cable jack to get sound back, then every time I would move, the sound would go off. The second set this didn't develope until after 4 days use. Amazon has been good about about accepting the returns but regretfully I probably won't try a third set of Bose Quite Comfort 25 headphones.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas and within 3 months the cable broke so now the headphones dont work. I cannot return the item because it is out of the return window. All we really want is a replacement chord but have been unable to contact anyone who can do that for us. My husband loved these and travels all the time. I really wish we could get a new chord so he can use them.

My last Bose headphones were the QC15s and I mostly got these for their looks and smaller folding size. Passed on the QC15s and am very happy with these. The sound is terrific, they are fabulous on a plane, and I must say I feel much less dorky wearing them around ANYWHERE than the big black/gray old ones. Of course the noise cancelling of these headphones is amazing. I really dislike the feel of in-ear (bud style) headphones and I'm really glad that even though there are new tiny in-ear noise cancelling Bose headphones that I went for these. I bet they are better for preventing hearing loss too!

These headphones are amazing. I commute to work on the bus and when I take off the headphones it sounds like a hurricane. I can vanish into the music and ignore all the noise pollution around me.
Only possible complaint is that it does require a AAA battery, but I can't feel the weight of it. These headphones are perfectly weighted (and light).
I also love that that headphone cable itself unplugs, so it can be replaced if needed (I had to toss a $250 pair of Beyer Dynamic Pro headphones because the headphone cable broke after my kid walked away from an ipad while wearing them).

I"ve just returned on a 9 hr flight with these stuck to my head and the previous 11 hr flight and not once was I tempted to take them off due to any painful discomfort. They are just so comfortable to wear for very long periods and the sound is so good for any type of music. The fact that 2 others in my eye sight on the flight had these headphones should tell you something about how good they are. And when the noise cancelling is in operation, they do reduce so much background noise that I always wonder how they achieve it.

These headphones are comfortable except for the fact that, like all over ear headphones, they are hot. The noise cancellation of droning type sounds is near complete. However, they do not cancel other sounds like speech or television very well.

However, I want a cello to sound like one, and these headphones make music sound flat, with no highlights or undertones. This is my first time listening to noise cancellation headphones, and so I did side by side comparisons with my older headset (Sennheiser HD 485); the difference was night and day. I was hoping to block out the noise of a television in the next room, but these were not effective enough to make it worth the loss in sound quality, not to mention the high price.
I returned the Bose immediately.

I used to own the QC15's, and have tried the new QC20 in-ear Bose NC headphones but took them back as I found them uncomfortable after a long flight. These QC25's are absolutely superb. They are light and comfortable so much so that you forget you are wearing them after a while. Sound quality is superb (for NC phones). The biggest difference between these and the old pair is that with prolonged use, I dont feel the "pressure" feeling in my ear in my experience - the sound quality is slightly better, they seem a lot more balanced than the old pair. Truth is, I am never without them - on trains, planes, in the office - finding sanctuary for me is just a button click away. Well done Bose, only downside is the price but they last and the customer service is good so I guess you get what you pay for!

I long hesitated to buy Bose noise-cancelling headphones (QC 3 and QC 15) despite the unanimous good reviews as I considered the fact that they did not run without battery power a major obstacle. The QC 25 fixed that limitation and I also find their design more discreet and appealing. I bought them when my previous Sony noise-cancelling headphones finally gave up and I can only say that the reviews are true: They are much more adept at noise-cancellation than my old Sony and other ones I tried. Their sound is rich but well-balanced, without the typical bass-heavy tuning of a lot of other brands. They exceeded my expectations, and although I purchased them for flying, and I discovered they might be even more useful on the train :-)

These headphones sounded amazing!!! They truly blocked out the outside sound, however unfortunately they gave me a headache so I returned them. The fit was perfect, it did not squeeze your head uncomfortably. They fold nice and compact and come with a durable case. I'm sad for whatever reason they gave me a headache however I found the Bose true sound earbuds to be great

I have expensive taste in headphones as I use them professionally and personally every day. I fall asleep with them so they need to be comfortable and quiet. Before these I had a $300 pair of sennheiser's which I liked much more. These feel cheep. the actually give feedback in one ear from the noise canceling microphone. So if you put your head in a pillow with these on, you hear a loud whistle like a microphone feedback. Then one ear stopped working. No thanks.

Unbelievable! This deserves 6 stars. You must try these to believe how amazing they are. Really saved my ears from all the white noise. Great for studying. Got another pair for my college student, he loves them too!

I'm a guy who is into music. I've worked in a studio before so I can give you an unbiased review of these headphones. I bought them because of the noise cancelling since I work in an open office enviroment. The noise cancelling is good, works like it should, it's not 90% noise cancelling but it keeps you away from the world. The sound quality is decent, not good which is why I'm considering in selling these headphones, I expected a full blasting sound for the price. You can get a good software in your phone to improve them but as someone who has been into music I would say the Sennheiser HD 500 series sound better than this headphone. So if you want noise cancelling go for these ones. If you want sound quality you can get other for a cheaper price.

Simply amazing. If you are looking for noise cancelling headphones and you are able to spend the money, this is the pair for you. I have tried a number of other options always figuring Bose was more name than substance but the fact of the matter is that in this case Bose lives up to the hype.

Background noise suppression works great. Helps while flying or working at home with noisy kids. On airplanes, a vibration-like noise happens when you touch the phones to the wall if in window seat. Otherwise great! Music sound is very good. Volume control on the wire works well with iPhone.
