These are the best pair of headphones I have ever owned. I tried the Beats Studios and, while they sound great in the store, once you get them home and they aren't playing specific songs EQ'd to perfection you realize how bass heavy they are. So, I returned them to get the Bose SoundTrue Headphones. However, they felt extremely flimsy compared to the Sound Comfort Headphones next to them. So, I tried the Quiet Comfort 15's on display and was absolutely blown away at the noise canceling capabilities. I decided to buy the QC25's since they were the newer model. Seriously, as stated in other reviews, I have to remind myself how amazing it is each time. I work in a Biochemistry Lab and hated that I can always hear the blowers that pressurize the lab over everything. Sometimes I just turn on the headphones without music so that I can just hear nothing. The sound quality is balanced and terrific. If you are a basshead, it probably won't wow you but I listen to the "Electronic Study Music" and "Chillstep" Playlists on Spotify daily, and have yet to feel that the bass isn't enough. I listened to "Cinema" which has one of the lowest bass drops in my collection at full volume and it sounded perfect. With these headphones I can lay in bed at night and literally escape to another world in the music I am listening too. I know that these are expensive, but they are worth every. single. penny. Just give them one try. If you have a Best Buy near you, go try out the Quiet Comfort there and make sure to run the demo, if its the same at all stores, it replicates the sounds of an airplane taking off and you literally are completely oblivious until it has you take them off. I was hooked. Enjoy Your Purchase!

Purchased these so I can concentrate at work and block out noise. Work wonderfully and they are comfortable. As a bonus, these make flying a breeze - especially for someone with flight anxiety. I can't hear a thing! Absolutely worth the cost - don't go cheap and buy knockoffs. Get the real deal!

Excellent headphones and sound quality is remarkable. I am an audiophile and know I could probably get better cans from Sennheiser, but the Noise Cancellation is what brings me back every time. These are truly a blessing on the airplane, trains, and even at work to block out a bunch of people talking near you. I have tried the QC15, and the older QC3's, and it's been a while, but the sound quality definitely sounds better than past iterations of these headphones.

Electronic noise-cancelling technology has really improved. I tried it quite a few times about ten years ago, aviation headsets from Lightspeed, Bose, and David Clark, and I didn't like the feeling of pressure on my eardrums, or the random loud fluttering sounds that sometimes happened. I subsequently stayed away from ANR/ANC for a long time. I don't know when they got so much better at it, but they've certainly got it dialed in now, these are pretty much awesome. I wear them all day long. I switch back and forth between these and Bose QC20i earbuds, which work equally as well.

Unfortunately cord terminal that plugs to your computer or telephone is quite fragile. It gets bent easily if you are not careful when plugging and unplugging different devises. You then end up with only one ear working. Bose replacing for free but they couldn't explain why this is happening, and weren't too friendly on the phone. They wanted to charge me for the new cord even though the headset was less than 2 months!

These are by far the best noise cancelling headphones I've used. The comfort is amazing: the cups are actually the shape of a pair of ears so enclose your ears perfectly without applying any pressure to them at all (why isn't this more common?), the diaphragm within the 'phones is angled to be flush with your ears, they are very light and the padding very soft. The noise cancelling is amazing: I compared these back to back with a pair of Plantronic Backbeat Pros and the difference is stark - while the backbeats muffle sounds and add their own hiss, the quietcomforts provide absolute silence, removing all background hum from office air conditioning and engine noise. It is really impressive. On top of this, the sound quality is fantastic.

Seriously, I JUST received this magical headphone today. I came to a hookah lounge to meet my friends (came an hour earlier). The DJ sound is to the roof. the place is packed with ppl (noisy laughing and dancing). I thought its a good environment to test my new toy AKA the QuieComfort 25...and the result was ....Yes, you guessed it, its Fabulous, Amazing and jaw dropping..I can still hear the DJ for sure but its reduced to at least %30 of its original. no noise is allowed to my ear :) and it is time to watch some Netflix or just enjoy some of my music...If you still looking for the BEST noise canceling headphone..JUST STOP HERE and please buy this..Cheers!

How do you improve on the original classic that makes bus, train, and air travel so much more bearable, and even makes for great gaming headphones? You reduce the size and weight, and make it so that they work even if the batteries go dead. I never travel without these (I take a lot of trains and planes), and at home, they're the answer to my wife's prayers when I'm listening to music or blasting mutants.

These headphones will change your life!
I purchased these to use at the office, since we sit in rows and during the day it can get kind of loud. Typically I listen to it with active noise cancellation off. When it gets loud I flip the switch on. The leather pads are hella comfortable, they are very soft and do not hurt your temples at all, even if you are wearing glasses. The headphones are also very lightweight.
The only drawbacks are that after prolonged periods of listening to it with active noise cancellation on, I get a little bit of ringing in my ears. I have also experienced slight amounts of nausea with active noise cancellation on. However, given my trance playlist and my copious amount of morning coffee, I do not know whether the ringing/nausea are caused directly by the active noise cancellation, and I have yet to do a rigorous scientific study.

Years ago I had a great set of Jabra noise-canceling headphones that I absolutely loved. When the foam eventually broke down, and the plastic just plain broke, I wanted a replacement, but Jabra wasn't in the game any longer. For the last few years, I kept my eye on the market, and while the Bose headphones looked nice, I just couldn't swallow the price tag, so I kept looking, but most of the reviews for other models had drawbacks that I couldn't live with.
Ahead of a trip to Europe, I finally broke down and spent the money for these headphones, and I honestly don't regret it one bit. They're super comfortable, even when worn for 9 hours at a time. The sound quality is absolutely great and the noise canceling is top notch. I've worn them on planes and at work in a datacenter and office cubicle environment, and I've used them as a headset for my cell phone while working in the datacenter.
I've got a pretty good sized melon, but these fit fine with room to spare. Using the active noise canceling in my office reduces the ambient air handling noise to complete and utter silence, and drowns out most noise from other cubicles as well. In the datacenter, it cuts the roar of the servers down to a tolerable background level, and I could clearly hold a phone call while wearing them (though the person on the other end would sometimes have problems hearing me over the noise). On a plane, they fold up nicely into the little case, and I love having the little spot in the case to store a spare battery.
In short, if you can part with the money, these are great headphones, and you won't regret the purchase.

We purchased this item. It came defective. We had it replaced, and the replacement broke within weeks of purchasing it. Bose sent a replacement for the broken unit. The replacement broke within a couple of months of replacement. Now Bose refuses to send a replacement without charging for shipping. The quality of their products has clearly declined as a previous model has worked flawlessly for us for several years.

Expensive, and well worth it. My office has an "open plan", and hires computer savvy college students for piece work. At times it is like working in a day care center, and at 73 I am about 40 years senior to nearly everyone there - totally different work ethic and working style. These headphones let me isolate myself from any noise and enjoy good jazz or classical music. I get 50% more work done, and my stress level is reduced 80%. I told my manager I thought it was better to use these headphones than grab some punk by the throat and tell him to shut up. He agreed. ;*)
Some reviews say these do not produce sound as well as some others on the market, but they seem fine to me (aging ears ?) and I have not tried any other brand as these were rated highest on noise isolation. An added bonus is they still work as headphones even if the battery running the noise canceling circuit runs down. First battery (standard alkaline AA cell) has lasted 10 days so far. They have transformed my work experience for the better. I would buy them again in a minute if they are stolen. Being Bose, I expect them to last a long time. Quality build, fit and finish. Light and comfortable.

Cable which connects headphones to phone etc... Is loose. Bad quality for over 200.00 USD
Also it seems there is audio imbalance which causes one ear to be louder than the other. Maybe Bose can help me out here.

Excellent, as expected.
UPDATE: 14 months after receiving my Bose QC 25 headsets, the right earphone quit working. I was so disappointed that they quit working so soon after my purchase and after having taken such great care of them. I always kept them stored in the case, I never dropped or mishandled them. Interestingly, if I tapped on the right earphone, I could get the audio to return. But if I continued to gently tap, it would stop again. I called Bose immediately and they looked up my product by the serial number. They said "I still had a couple of months on my warranty" and that they would send me a new pair by 2-day UPS air. They also e-mailed me a return shipping label to return the broken pair.
I'm now awaiting the arrival of the replacement headset, which they said would be covered by their full warranty for a year. I'm just so disappointed that such an expensive headset would fail in such a short period of time AND after I took such good care of them.
I'm pleased with Bose's response to my problem. If they had not agreed to replace the headphones, I would have been beyond upset! So, Bose gets 5-stars on customer service for replacing the headphones, but I have to drop the quality of the headphones to 3-stars.

I bought these for my wife so that 1) she can sleep at night and not hear me snoring, 2) can listen to good music while working around the house, and 3) she can fly comfortably without all the roaring jet noises.
Works extremely well. Most all low frequency noise just disappears when turning the active cancellation on, and the ear seals are reasonable for the higher frequency unwanted sounds. Music sound quality is excellent. My snoring is well cancelled, but her sleep position is limited to lying on her back (obviously), which is fine. Just came back from a trip and the grating plane noise was insignificant!!

The sound quality of the Bose headphones is great but the quality of the construction is awful. I've had 2 previous pairs of these dating back 10 years and that's because successive pairs have fallen apart. I do use them a lot - nearly every day. But when you pay $300 for something you should be able to expect better durability than that.
With the first 2 I had, the padding around the earpiece came unglued or the stitching around the padding came undone. Still, those 2 models lasted several years before I had to replace them. But with this last pair - purchased just 2 months ago - the sound just went out in the right earpiece and nothing I've tried will work to get the sound to return. My window to return the headphones to Amazon closed - you guessed it - just a couple of weeks ago.
I'll be damned if I'll pay Bose another $300 to replace these. Bye-bye Bose. Too bad your excellent engineering is canceled out by shoddy construction.

Fits great, love that the cord is removable and replaceable. They are easy to wear for hours on the plane. I've used mine for at least 30 hours and haven't replaced the battery. The case includes a spot for a spare battery

The headphones worked great for 2 months, but died today. The speaker stopped in one ear mid-song. For $300 I would really expect these to last more than 60 days. Amazon return or exchange policy should be slightly better for faulty equipment.

After a long period of time where I sampled Bose, Beats by Dre, and Sennheiser headphones I honestly do not understand how people feel that either Beats or Sennheiser are superior to Bose. The Sennheiser headphones I sampled were both uncomfortable and the sound quality was even less than the ear buds that came with my latest iPhone. When it comes to Beats, I will say they are very comfortable and they may be ideal for you if you prefer bass to overpower the rest of the music (I prefer a more balanced sound) however I feel the overall sound quality is somewhat lacking across all genres of music.
When testing these babies it took me a mere few seconds after the 1st song started to realize that I had finally found the headphones for me as these headphones performed superiorly no matter what I was listening to. I honestly believe the noise canceling feature is key as it ensures all background music is eliminated for you to finally enjoy every aspect of a song just like the artist intended. Although some may prefer a more prominent bass, I actually believe these headphones are set up much like a home theater system with the bass complementing the overall sound rather than overpowering it. Throw in the fact that these headphones are now even more stylish and they are so comfortable that you forget you are even wearing them and for me the decision was easy.

Simply the very best noise cancelling headphones you can buy. Yes this comes at a cost but you get what you pay for. I currently have the previous version of this product and the in ear version - both are outstanding. The new version of the over ear version is neater and smaller than the previous version. It's case has been made smaller, all making for a neater way to pack up when travelling. The case and headphones are a quality product.
The music quality is fantastic but where these headphones excel is in a location with a low droning noise e.g. like on a plane, train or noisy room. You can still hear people talk but the low noise is taken away instantly when switching the noise cancelling on. When I bought my first pair it took along time to make the decision as I couldn't test how effective they would be on a plane. Using them in a noisy shop atmosphere cut some of the noise out but it was hard to judge how the noise cancelling would work on a plane - until you actually go on a plane.
Wow! On a plane it is amazing how much noise they cut out, how much more relaxed you feel and how much more you can hear the sounds from your in plane entertainment or electronic device. Taking them off during a flight illustrates how noisy the plane is as it is extremely noticeable how noisy the plane actually is. You feel more rested because you have not had to listen to the constant drone of the plane engines.
I cannot recommend these headphones highly enough. Do not doubt how effective they are, this is why their is premium charge for the product.
