These work pretty good as sound cancelling headphones although I believe there is significant room for improvement. As music headphones I would not put them anywhere near the top of those that I have heard. They are far too muddy and compressed to my ear. Build quality, stowing and design is very nice. I don't feel that they are worth 300 bucks.. I would however if they sounded better, they just really sound horrible imo.

These headphones work really well. I cannot hear anything else around me when I am listening to music or something else. This can be a good or bad thing. They work too well!
I had the QC 15 until I broke one accidentally. Bose let me replace but by the time I had enough money it was discontinued and I could mail order or just go to a Bose Store and buy these instead. So I opted to upgrade.
I miss the old carrying case, and I don't like that these need to be folded in all these different directions.
I like that they work without battery still. Before they would just go dead (on QC 15).
The look is nice. I didn't ever use the extra cable anyway.
NEVER travel with these out of the case, the are FRAGILE.

I bought this 2 month ago and it's broken yesterday, the right speaker doesn't work at all--- I'm traveling and I still have 30+ hrs flights to take. I checked their warranty policy and the ridiculous thing is that I have to pay all the shipping fee to get the device repaired whatever that's the quality issue of their product. I only used the headphone slightly (less than an hour a day) and it's my first time travel with it, and it just broken when my flight take off for next 10 hrs fly. I remember last month when I study in Starbucks a man suddenly come and talk to me, he asked me how long I've been using the headphone, I told him 1 month and he said he got one and that's broken after 2 month. I thought he just unlucky, but now I don't. I shop on Amazon least 15 times per month and this is my firs review, I hope there's a option can let me rete a 0 star.

Can't really ever go wrong with Bose. These make flying great. I made the mistake forgetting to put my music on my iPhone before my trip, so these were sort of redundant. However, the cabin noise was annoying and impeding on my sleep, so I put these on, turned the noise cancelling function on and was amazed at how much the cabin noise dropped. The sound lacks the bass that Beats might has them beat with. In the next iteration, a deeper bass will surely be enough for me to upgrade.

I purchased the Bose QuietComfort 25 just before Christmas. The noise canceling was nothing short of amazing! The sound of silence blew me away. Then like a nut, I started reading reviews about other headphones having a better bass sound and such craziness. I returned the Bose and then went on the hunt for affordable, "better than Bose" headphones. Like a dingbat, I bought the new Beats Studio (great bass and comfortable) Audio-Technica ATH-M50x (great bass and soooo uncomfortable, heavy), and then the August Bluetooth Wireless (ok is sound, comfortable and light)
Outcome: I still have the Beats Studio (put away in the box), I returned the Audio Technica as quickly as I could, and every now an then I like the freedom of the August Wireless, so I still use them.
I have since received my new purchase of the Bose QC25. YES...I bought them a second time and absolutely love them, just as I really did the first time around. The sound is great and the comfort level is an A+. They are very light and it is as if you have cotton around your ears. I have learned that it is all about personal taste. What I find comfortable and pleasing to my ears is what I like, not particularly what others recommend. In this case, make me the exception. :-) I highly recommend the Bose QuietComfort 25. Take my word for it. It may have taken me 2 times to believe my ears but ....this is the best $299 I have ever spent. Worth every single penny.

I am having a same problem as a lot of other people here. Right side stopped working after very limited use over 5 months.currently overseas without options to discuss replacement. Not the quality you would expect from a $300 purchase. Before that sound and fit ok.

I seriously love these noise canceling headphones. I bought these for my first international flight to the Philippines. The flight was 17 hours total and I was worried about trying to sleep with the engine noise. These headphones entirely eliminate the engine noise in an aircraft. I wore them the entire 17 hours while I was in the air and my ears never felt crushed or sensitive. The headphones are incredibly comfortable to wear for extended amounts of time.
I flew on the Boeing 787 for one leg of the journey and while wearing these head phones and watching a movie in the LED display, I even forgot I was on an airplane for a couple hours. The comfort and effectiveness of these head phones made my flight almost easy. My girlfriend loved them as well so I'll be buying her some of these for our next long flight.
These headphones satisfied all of my needs, but I want to be clear about what they won't do. These headphones won't stop you from hearing a crying baby. They won't stop you from hearing your seat-mate talking. The headphones seem to most effectively cancel our consistent noises such as fans, engine noise, or keyboard typing. Noises that spike such as conversation, knocking, or coughing can still be heard. Albeit, even these noises are slightly dampened.

I haven't made it onto the plane yet for my maden voyage since upgrading from QC15 to QC25, but can already see the difference between the new Bose QC25s and the old QC15s. The QC15s were great at blocking the engine noise, and similar sounds like air conditioners and other mechanical hum or roar. These QC25 block everything. I can't hear anything at all except for the music and an occasional voice that is close enough or loud enough to get through. It is kind of eerie how well they work.
I used to tell people who asked about my Bose QC15s that there were cheaper alternatives that were just as good. I don't think that is the case with these QC25s. They are absolutely amazing at blocking noise and sound, and the audio quality of the music you are playing is phenomenal.
This is my fourth pair of Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones. I bought each previous version, upgrading each time there was a new one. These QC25 are much better than the earlier models. This is the first time that I don't think that there is still room for improvement. I use these about 8 hours a day in a noisy office, then at home to isolate me from the noise from TVs and other family members, and about once a week on flights. They excel at all three of those uses. They are tuned to almost completely remove the noise that comes from airplane engines, air conditioners, and noisy offices.
I highly recommend this headphones for frequent fliers and for people that have a difficult time concentrating when there is background conversations or television. They are well made and do a very good job.
The long battery-life and new compact folding design are also big improvements over previous QC headphones. They are also more comfortable.
Basically I like everything about these.

When they work, the quality is superb. Excellent for aeroplanes.
However, it seems this model has a tendency to break.
After a bit over half a year the left ear died completely - so that's that.
Looked it up and it appears to be a problem many people experienced.
No warranty as far as I can tell.

Amazingly good noise cancelling. Very comfortable over long periods. Good compatibility with Apple devices. I have buildings being demolished and constructed next door, 7 AM to 6 PM, and I work late and sleep late. Very helpful working during the day and also for sleeping/napping (if you sleep on your back). I like to plug in friendly sounds from a sleep-app or just use them wireless with added in-ear earplugs for near-total noise suppression. Fine design. Expensive but well worth the money, in my opinion.

I've had two pairs of Bose noise cancelling headphones over ten years costing a serious sum.
The first pair sounded better than the latest but the headband didn't stand the test of time.
The latest pair are now showing crumbling headband cushions and the same with the ear mufflers.
They are also bulky iin design and look silly when sat in your airplane seat.
I also believe the second pair do not sound as good as the original.
Will not be buying a third pair from overrated Bose.
Also disappointed with my Bose TV Soundbar. A lot of money for the name with a satisfying sound, not.
Bose are making money on the name and not on lasting quality.

These make a huge difference on airplanes. I was also surprised that they helped in an office setting, too. I sometimes sit across a low cube wall from an HR employee conducting phone screens 8 hours per day. With these on, I don't hear but a small percentage of what she's saying on the phone. Helps with HVAC noise, too.

I've had what I believe to be the precious model of Bose noise cancelling headphones for a year now, and then ordered this pair for my husband. We travel/fly multiple times a year for leisure, and noise cancelling headphones are indispensable. They will not block out all noise, they block out ambient background noise (the roar of an airplane), but not sudden sounds like a baby crying. But because these block out background noise, you can listen to your music or videos better, and with the volume turned down lower, a saving your hearing. For those who don't know, the noise cancelling feature is independent from the headphones. So, you don't need to be listening to anything in order to use it. And it does need a AA battery to operate the noise cancelling feature. The difference I see in these, compared to my older model, is these have a Mic on the headphone jack to use with your phone or when skyping. They also fold up.smaller.

I have not found any better noise cancelling headphones anywhere in terms of comfort and blocking out sound. But these do fail at a couple things. The biggest problem I've had is that they leak a lot of sound into the room. People within 15feet of me are annoyed by anything I listen to other than flat white noise sounds. My basic UrbanEars Plattan headphones (closed back without active noise cancelling ability) are much better at keeping my sound in, but sometimes I need more exclusion of environmental sound (mostly people talking loudly around me) than they provide, even when blasting loud music. That is where I wanted the Bose QC 25 to come in. But the sound leakage has been really limiting so far. Bummer. I have the Klipsch M40 N/C cans too, and the Bose beats them in every way except for leaking my music to the outside.
What I was expecting:
-Decent Sound
-Good Noise Cancelling while music plays.
-Good comfort level
-To be able to block out chatter around me while keeping my music to myself
-I also hoped to be able to have good noise cancelling without music but realized that might be expecting too much.
Pros:
+Comfortable
+Lightweight
+Pretty good sound
+Feels like a high quality product
+Very good noise cancelling with music playing
Cons:
-They let out a lot of sound into the environment around me. Enough that I would be embarrassed to wear them on the train or plane.
-They don't do very much against human voices with N/C turned on but when no music plays. It just makes them sound a little farther away.
Easily 5 stars without the leaky sound issue, so if that is not an issue for you, then these are probably your best option for comfortable actively noise cancelling headphones. It has been a significant problem for me so far, so I have to give them 3.

These headphones are capable of blocking out so many obnoxious noises that it feels like cheating at life. Neighbors blasting EDM at 11pm? Noisy airplane? Significant other snoring? Put these headphones on it. Problem solved.

I'll not beat around the bush, I wish I never bought these headphones!
Since marrying my wife we have played out a constant war of attrition by jumping out and trying to scare each other. Success varies from a mild jump to full blown terror scream.
Over the 7 years we have been together, however, I have managed to develop a superhero ability to anticipate my wife's increasingly desperate efforts. Every time she embarks upon an even more elaborate mission my keen senses inform to her ploy before it can be successfully executed. My wife's inability to develop the sort of superhuman qualities that your average police or military dog enjoys has been a real source of frustration.
Thank you to the Bose QuietComfort 25 all that has changed! The noise cancelling is so good that when I now sit at my desk working my wife can now finally get her satisfaction again. In fact, they are so good that one time she hired an entire brass band to announce to the rest of the street her intentions as she strolled up behind me. Needless to say, she made me quickly divert my attention from my work to start performing a Google search for more clean underwear!
Thanks to this cheeky bit of technology I have now lost my job because I am nervous wreck when sitting at my desk. My marriage however, is saved and my wife has never been happier.
So in conclusion it is a bitter sweet 5 stars to these headphones. They really do perform that well! I just wish they didn't!

To start off with i have never been the biggest Bose fan, preferring to buy brands such as AKG and Audio Technica. However , these have scored a huge point for Bose in my opinion!
The first thing i noticed when i opened the box was the presentation! Its nicely presented in the compact carry case. The case contains a section where you can store a spare battery and a travel adapter.
The next i was worried about was the battery life because with the previous model you couldn't listen to them unless the battery had charge, with these you can listen even if the battery is dead! Don't get me wrong, the sound is hit a fair bit and becomes muddled but at least they still work!
Now for the reason you will most likely be looking at these headphones: the noise cancelling! Now i am a student living in student accommodation studying my Masters degree and when i put these headphones on and played some quiet music i was in my own little world, i cant tell you how nice it was! The noise cancelling is fantastic! It puts a little bit of pressure on the ear drum, but after a while i didn't even notice that and just enjoyed the listening pleasure.
The sound quality: now this is the main reason i am not over keen on bose, they tend to have a highly altered sound. (Difficult to explain) However these did impress me, they seemed to provide a clean and accurate sound true to the music. Now i cannot say much more about the sound as i believe in the burn in period for high end headphones, and do believe that after a while the sound will improve! ( at least thats what has happened with my akg q701, audio technica ath-es7 and beyerdynamic mmx101ie headphones) but i have very high hopes for these headphones!
All in all i am very impressed with these headphones and would recommend them to anyone who wants the very best in noise cancelling!

Very gently used for about 20 hours on a few transatlantic flights. Great for noise canceling and longterm comfort. Then unable to get to the headphones to power up even with several new batteries. Turned out to be either dirt or a bit of corrosion in the battery compartment. Cleaned with Q-tip and all is good again. Relief.

As Fonzie never said, "I was wrong." These are absolutely incredible.
I just had gastric sleeve weight loss surgery and going to write about the headphones in my book about my weight loss. They are an important tool in getting me out to walk every day. I can hear songs that I have heard for 40 years in an entirely different way. You can hear stuff like harps on Jackson Browne songs (I never knew he used those) and the nuance to something like Springsteen is such that you can understand every word and lyric. I can't wait to get out and do my walk to hear my music.
They are also terrific on an airplane and sometimes I put them on just to block out outside sounds. On the other hand, I can go on my walk knowing that if I get a phone call, I actually sound better than in the office. I have done a number of radio interviews plugging these into my IPhone and the sound quality is better than the mini radio studio that I have in my home. I HIGHLY recommend them and Bose has gotten me as a longtime customer.
They are not cheap but neither is a Rolls Royce. These are the Rolls Royce of headsets.

These are fabulous! I started travelling a lot for work, and also work in a rather talkative environment; so I definitely wanted something with quality noise cancelling abilities. I was able to sleep on a trans-Atlantic flight with a kid that screamed most of the flight only 3 seats away, I could hear him, but it sounded like he was far, far away. (Obviously need music on at a low volume to make the cancelling work fully) they have also proven to drown out conversations feet away from me in the office to help me focus, without making me crank the volume up.
They are very comfortable, great sound quality, look great (I get compliments on them a lot), noise cancellation is fabulous.
*only "issue" is when I video chat with them, there is weird feedback fuzz sound, I haven't determined if it's the headphones or if it's the video software; but didn't have this issue before I used these

Indeed it's better than previous models. Way way better noise canceling than BEATS by Dre. If you travel, this is really the only choice on the market. Wish BOSE would make this exact model with Bluetooth. Must be a battery patent issue. Doesn't make sense that this isn't bluetooth.

The Bose QC25 sets the bar pretty high for competition when it comes to noise cancelling, comfort and sleek design, I got the special edition "triple black" and they are just gorgeous! They feel sturdy and durable, and have that unique premium look, prestigious airlines offer them to first class travelers for a reason.

Really amazing set of headphones. The noise cancellation actually does work while listening to music or watching a video. I originally purchased this because of me wanting really nice audio and to block out sound from the outside. Completely satisfied!!!

Reduce noise substantialy while music is playing including conversation, background city noise, traffic, snoring, aircraft noise etc.
Music quality is incredible and bass is excellent.
Love the fact that they can still be used even if you've forgotten a spare battery or the one in has run out.
Very well made and feels very high quality as does the carry case which protects the headphones very well.
Airline adapter is very useful for aircraft with two 3.5mm outlets.
Look absolutely beautiful and online there is a colour customisation option but that does add £100 onto the bill.
Inline mic/remote works well with most iPhones with the apple model and some commands work with other smartphones. Mic is very sensitive and works with my PS4® so can be used as a headset. Like that the cable can be detached.
All in all another fantastic product from Bose® and a great purchase.

Very clear and good noise cancellation. Sounds decent without battery but not as good. Wish the case was slightly better - zip-up and unzip a bit annoying or a bit lazy on my part. Sits comfortably around ear. Don't have much problem with wind and I don't get the problem others have highlighted in regards to the noise cancellation and around ear having put pressure where it results in ear popping - maybe it's the odd case. You have to try it to believe it. Good thing with Amazon is if you're not satisfied with the product - they will refund without hassle. I've had them for approximately 4 months now and don't regret my purchase. Highly recommended.

This works great to listen to music to when traveling by bus or van but sounds awful unless you turn on the noise canceling. They're more comfortable than my in-ear buds or on-ear headphones. But they don't drown out a cat meowing & yowling on a car ride!

What? I can't hear you! Simply awesome. Had a long transatlantic flight and wanted to enjoy my music and the in-flight movies. These more than fulfilled that need. They're comfortable and the noise cancellation is great. The aircraft cabin noise went from a dull roar to barely noticeable. I was able to hear the audio from the movies or my media player - whichever I plugged it into.
It's nice that the cable is detachable both ends, so you don't have a dangling chord if all you want is to cut out the ambient noise.
The carrying case is nicely made in itself, however, I do wish it was easier to store the cable.
The supplied AAA battery has so far lasted way beyond my expectation and I like the little storage space for a spare in the carrying case.

Great sound quality and noise cancelling. I use these with a commercial backpack blower and can barely hear the roar of the engine while noise cancelling is active. I also listen to my iPod through these and notice no distortion while noise cancellation is on and active, an issue I've experienced in other brands. I've been using them for 2 months with no product quality issues.

I have a QC15 and the only problem I have with it is that I often forget to turn it off after I take it off my head and the battery will run out because of it. The QC25 would do me the some as the switch design are the same for both models. I hope it could be made like some Sony headphones that automatically turn on/off when you put it on or off, by sensing if the two ear cups are open outward or close to each other.

Noise cancelling is best in the business. Scary how good it works. I got these so drown out the sound of my wife watching TV while I work at the computer and they do an amazing job. My wife has to wave at me to get my attention when I'm wearing these which is espicially impressive when you consider that I listen to them at a low volume. Excellent sound quality. I hear things with these bose headphones I never noticed with the Beats Studios I had before. Bass does not hit as hard as Beats, but that is to be expected with Bose. Bose is much more about delivering a full and rich experience across the entire sound spectrum where as Beats are more about delivering hard hitting lows.

They are perfect for me! Worked really well on planes, and music sounds excellent through them. I keep forgetting to switch off the noise cancelling when I put them down so batteries die after a couple nights of doing that, but that's on me really, and nothing a decent set of rechargeable AAAs can't solve.

i am a huge traveler and this was wonderful and easy to use. I fell asleep instantly listening to music on my iphone. crystal clear sound. i love the packaging as well. easy to travel with.

I've owned several pairs of Bose headphones over the years and I have to say that these are by far the most comfortable and good-looking ones ever. However, the noise-cancelling function is far too powerful. Once switched "ON" it has a tunnel effect that made me feel dizzy to the point where I almost couldn't stand up. It's incredible how much noise these headphones diminish, but for me, it was too much. I felt as if I had vertigo and couldn't bear to keep the noise-cancelling function turned on. Again, great headphones, but the noise cancelling function was too strong. I was overcome by the silence.

These are the bee's knees. I make a coach trip every week, two and a half hours each way and these put me in a world of my own. A very fancy bit of technology and superbly designed. I tried some in-ear passive noise cancelling headphones at first but they were uncomfortable. I now use those when I'm jogging around the park. A different experience from the Sennheiser HD650s that I use at home and that were similarly priced but these are also definitely hi-fi.

Sound is good. Comfortable. However, the slightest jiggling of the chord causes one channel to cut out. We returned the first pair, but the second pair is the same.

Wow. Noise cancellation is truly superb -- and it is VERY comfortable to wear. Used it on a trip to Japan -- can't believe I've never bothered to have one on my previous trips -- it made a WORLD of difference. Having this on and off is night and day in an international flight. I was actually shocked at how loud the cabin is during a flight. HOWEVER -- while the noise cancellation is great, I have to admit that Dr. Dre's Beats (the original) has 100% better bass, bar none (and is much MUCH louder). Maybe because the Beats I have uses 2 batteries? But noise cancellation and wear-comfot wise, these are 100% better. Maybe I'll try to find one that's 100% in re bass and noise cancellation so I don't have to carry around 2!

Excellent sound quality. However, like many others have previously reported the build quality is very poor. I've kept the headphones in excellent condition and they've only ever been moderately used but only after 9 months the right drum has failed. As they're still in the first year of warranty Bose won't replace them directly, so have to do this via Amazon - which I'm still trying to do....
