The first and obvious problem is that they're only suitable for a relatively limited range of products: use it with the right ipod or even a laptop and they'll do the job superbly and you'll hear details you never noticed before with astonishing clarity, but try it with the wrong one - say a Sony, whose recent products these headphones seem to take a particular dislike to - and you'll hear so much static and interference it's like bad radio reception on a motorway in the Midlands on a stormy day even sitting in a quiet room. When used with a compatible device the sound range is generally good, but again not as good as you should be able to expect for the price: as another reviewer noted, it tends to get a bit shrill when you pump up the volume.
The headphones themselves are comfortable, only getting to feel a little too hot after extremely prolonged use. There's some modest sound leakage for others around you, but nothing excessive unless you're listening at an unhealthy volume. It does a particularly impressive job of blocking out sound around you without blocking out so much that you won't hear the phone ring or the doorbell go, allowing you to concentrate on the music or soundtrack of whatever you're watching on a mobile device - but the cable is far too short if you want to use it on a TV set or hi-fi without sitting extremely close.
The 35-hour battery life isn't a huge issue, though it is surprisingly easy to forget to turn the headphones off and drain them between use. Along with incompatible devices, the cable is the Achilles Heel here. It's not especially good for the price and by only having a 2.5mm jack you're limited in replacement options (and it feels cheap enough for that to be an issue down the line). As for the inline remote control, so far that's failed to work on any device I've tested it on. The Poundland feel of the cable seems all the stranger considering the very high quality and solidly built travel case that comes with the headphones, and the excellent build of the headphones themselves.
All-in-all these are good headphones, but with too many niggles to unreservedly recommend at the price.

My wife tried using these headphones while mowing lawn on a zero-turn mower. They did not do as well in that environment because the background sound changes so rapidly (engine sounds, hydraulic wheel drives, etc. are not smooth and even levels or pitches.) for that environment, she prefers to use drummer's headphones. Those don't have active noise cancellation, but they are better at passive isolation.
I had a pair of bose noise canceling headphones about 5 years ago. I didn't like them--when active, they audio sensation felt like a kind of 'pressure' in my ears. This new model doesn't feel/sound anything like that. Much better technology.

After getting these home I unboxed them and was pleased to find that they come with a good sturdy case, as well as a AAA battery and airplane adapter. There is also an instruction of how to fold them printed into the case, which is a nice touch.
Once I began playing music with them at home it truly hit me how good they are. I am noticing different tones and sounds to voices in music that I've never heard before. They're good for lots of different genres too; which is great for my eclectic music taste. The noise cancelling is astonishing, it helps create an imersive experience which is perfect to help me unwind after a tough day. The fact that you can still play music from them when the battery for the noise cancelling is dead was a deciding factor when I was struggling with the choice of these or the Beats Studio.
The build quality feels good; yes it may not be high gloss, but it feels strong and like good quality material. I also believe you can buy replacement ear cups etc (but don't quote me on this). My only concern is that the fabric on the top of headband will get dirty quickly (I have the white set) but time will tell and I hope the case will help. They are fantastic in terms of comfort. I am a glasses wearer and they do not press into my head at all. My husband has rather large ears (his words, not mine) and he said they still cup round his ears quite nicely and feels they immerse him in music like other headphones don't.
Yes, they're not the most fashionable headphone ever, but I don't feel they're bad looking. The sound is that impressive, I still wish to give them 5 starts despite the Beats having the clear aesthetic advantage.
I know my husband will be being a set shortly, this set of headphones are very impressive and come out with lovely clear sound. I feel that if you're serious about your music and enjoy a good listening experience then these are for you. With the Bose 30 day guarantee too, you can at least try them first.

Additionally, from day one, the noise cancelation was significantly less than what I experienced while trying the product in department stores. Whether this was just my unit or is true for all sets, I felt rather cheated by the noise cancelation I was delivered. On top of this, while not playing music, the headphones would emit a light hissing noise which was odd.
I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. Save your money and get a pair of QC15s before they are discontinued.

The Good:
+ MP3 and AAC files from the iPhone sound good
+ Sound profile is smooth and easy to listen to
+ Poorly encoded MP3's sound acceptable, higher quality headphones would reveal their flaws too much
+ NC is very effective
+ NC is amazing, actually
+ No NC "booming"
+ Comfort beyond what I thought possible
+ User replaceable battery (the sole reason I avoided the new Beats Studio)
The So-so:
-/+ Sound is not as bass heavy as I would personally like
-/+ The case is small - but there's no real place to put the cord - I would have preferred a slightly larger case with dedicated space for the cord
-/+ The entire headset is very flexible - in a rubbery way - it is probably very crack and snap resistant - but it does not inspire confidence
-/+ Only comes with a right angle plug, I prefer straight plugs
-/+ Ear pressure that is associated with most ANC headphone is present in this pair, but I am EXTREMELY sensitive to this, so it might not affect you
The Bad:
- The folding mechanisms contain a very thin wire that bends every time you fold the cups - this reeks of PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE on Bose's part - bend a wire enough and it will fail, probably about a week after the next model comes out
- The battery door does not operate smoothly at all - It will likely fail long before the headphones do
- The cloth adorning the top of the headband is just silly and serves no purpose other than having another part that will wear out quickly
Functionally, these headphones are perfect - but I couldn't risk spending so much money on something that I wasn't confident in lasting - I returned them
IF YOU BUY THESE AND PLAN ON KEEPING THEM, I highly suggest buying a case made for the QC15, one that will allow you to store them without having to collapse the hinges and bend the wire inside - I also recommend investing the highest capacity batteries possible, to avoid stressing the battery door too often

As for the sound quality of the headphones, I'm fairly satisfied. I do wish the lower frequencies (bass) were a little stronger, but the headphones definitely handle the mid range very well.
As many of the other customer complaints have mentioned, the aux cable connection to the headphones is damaged right out of the box. Any slight movement and the right ear audio cuts out. They sound great, they're comfortable, and block out sound very well (even with the Quiet feature off). But, for the price of these headphones, this is ridiculous.

That is, aside from one little quirk. Lets say you're on a US Airways configured plane, and your headphone jack is on the end of the arm rest and sticks out into the feet-well area, leaving your cable a little bit prone to side-passing traffic as people the shuffle past to the corridor. The alternate configuration, on say, oh, perhaps something like a Qantas flight, the headphone jack is in towards the seat area, pointing towards your own hips from the side of the arm rest. My partner and I managed to shear both our pins from our cables on a single 'US Air' flight, rendering both headphone sets useless for the rest of the trip, whereas I'd been on and off many 'Qantas' flights with no incident. (Unfortunately Italian airports did not yet carry replacement cables.)
Which brings me to an appreciation of Bose's customer service experience, for which I give them another ***** (5 stars) and big Thank You for replacing both cables under warranty. That was much appreciated.
And so again, fellow travelers, be careful of the pin that goes into the jack when traveling. ALWAYS pull the cable out before moving out of your chair, or you might leave part of your pin in the jack on the plane...

He has a wider head than average and finds these very comfortable. The sound from the speakers is crystal clear and when he uses the mic it is very easy to hear him and understand what he's saying, though we haven't been able to test that in a loud environment yet. The fold down ability and the carrying pack are also very handy for traveling. Broken down they fit perfectly in the electronics backpack we travel with.

- When the noise cancelling is turned on, they create pressure, actual physical pressure you can feel on your eardrums, similar to descending on an airplane, except there doesn't appear to be any way to alleviate it permanently. Within a few minutes, it gives me a headache.
- The noise cancelling is highly directional and cancels out noises infront considerably less well than noises behind due to microphone placement (although this is not something I've noticed as significantly on my aging Sony pair).
- Also to do with microphone placement and design, the slightest breeze across the microphone causes false positive noise cancelling.
- They are really only effective at cancelling low frequency noises. Mid to high range is progressively less well blocked out, even if it's a very uniform ongoing sound.
For the high price tag compared to other noise cancelling headphones, these are most certainly not worth the money. I'm just happy I was able to get a refund.

There is a thin plastic membrane when you open up the headphones that the air pressure when you have the headphoens over your ears can interfere with. Apparently even the 15s had this problem - [...]. Here's the 25[...]. If this were a cheap pair of headphones great this fix is hilarious and works for a bit. Unfortunately these headphones are 300$ so I expect them to work.

Let's get to it:
1) Noise cancelling - on par with Sennheiser MM550. I find Bose to have less humming noise compare to Sennheiser and therefore less annoying.
2) Sound quality - Bose is wired, yet, their quality with battery is okay, without battery, it is horrible. Sennheiser is way superior to Bose. I have them both on high volume and I love Sennheiser more. I'm sorry Bose, you dropped the ball on these. On top of that, Sennheiser MM550 is wireless bluetooth which mean Bose should beat easily but quality dropped dramatically. With SRS on, Bose sounds like a $50 headphones.
3) Comfort in long use - Bose is lighter, more comfortable. I used Sennheiser for studying in area such as Starbucks and libraries. They last about 4-5 hrs before battery needs to be recharged. I take them off and discover that I have sweaty ears from these. Bose is a winner in this area. Very comfortable even with my glasses on. Bose sit nicely without squeezing my glass frame into my skull.
4) Compatibility - Bose dropped the balls big time when they don't support Android with their remote cord. I cannot use it with my Galaxy Note 4 which run Android 4.4.4. Not even volume control work. I tried plugging into my Surface Pro 2. It does nothing to control musics or volume. Work fine with iOS device.
I gave these 3 stars before. They don't work with android, and their sound quality is below average. I am a medical students. I needs headphones that I can wear for a very long period of time to study.

This is also the special edition version which is BLACKED OUT. These headphones produce great sound. High and lows. Once you turn on the active noise cancellation, you will be in sound utopia. Background noise is no longer an issue. Comfort is at the highest level. Very comfortable even after hours of use. Soft leather over the ear and solid sound iso.
Situation 1: I bought this for travel. There is nothing better than sitting on a plane and you are able to block out drone of the plane engine with these headphones.
Situation 2: Studying or working in a library or coffee shop is ideal! You can enjoy your coffee, book, audiobook, music whatever it may be without any distractions.
Love this project. Highly recommended.

As soon as I put these headphones on, I thought to myself how had they done it! It was amazing! The songs I listened to were clearer and sounded amazing. For around £300 these headphones are the best I have every bought. I recently took a plane journey and put these one before we took off and nothing. The noise cancelling had done such a good job that I thought we hadn't even taken off before I look out my window.
Pros
-Astonishingly good noise cancellation
-Clear, balanced sound
-Comfortable to wear
-Battery lasts much longer than previous version
-New design makes them look AMAZING!
Cons
-A little expensive but you get what you pay for
Overall if you can afford it I wouldn't give it a seconds thought as these headphones are probably the best I have ever used and it is perfect for every lifestyle.

In passive mode, the treble and bass are both dialed back dramatically, along with the overall volume level. Switch to active mode to enable the noise-canceling feature and things get brighter, deeper, and louder. If there was ever a knock on the QC series, it was that the headphones didn't sound particularly amazing. Over time, however, the line has introduced more balanced sound signatures.
On tracks like The Knife's "Silent Shout," which has a tremendous level of sub-bass content, the QC 25 delivers quite a bit of low-end. The QC 25 doesn't distort even at top, unsafe listening levels, and the bass is intense. More moderate listening levels still feature plenty of bass response, but it's not quite as boosted as a Beats headphone pair.
On Jay-Z and Kanye West's "No Church in the Wild," the kick drum loop's attack gets enough high-mid presence to retain its sharpness and slice through this dense mix. The sub-bass synth hits that punctuate the beat don't get nearly as much low-frequency boost as they would on a heavier-bass set, but they still sound quite powerful.
At the price, the Bose QuietComfort 25 is still a noise-canceling headphone pair first and a music lover's headphone pair second. But Bose introduces new improvements (like passive listening mode) with every model that keep QuietComfort on top of the noise cancellation market.

- QuietComfort 20: http://amzn.to/12U5kv1

Pros:
1) I like the noise canceling technology.
2) I like the length of the cord, just the right length.
3) Materials are of high quality.
4) Cushion on top is great!
Cons:
1) I always forget to switch off the noise canceling feature, so my batteries always die soon. I bough couple of accumulator batteries, however sometimes I forget to charge them. All of these are such a pain, I think it would be great if Bose will add some sensor that can switch off the battery or at least send it tot sleep mode (I understand there are some technical issues might be).
2) After some time your ears start sweating, especially if you are in a room with 75+ degrees (F). It's uncomfortable. Sometime I put some materials, so sweating on my ears become a bit less problem. Is there are a way to solve this? Maybe to use other material, or put some holes with ventilation, but I know that could affect noise canceling effectiveness. Please Bose engineers solve this, that would be so cool!
Other than that, guys I highly recommend this piece of engineering. I have AKG K702, Sennheiser HS170 (wireless phones) and Apple's standard white phones. Sometimes I prefer the last, it's good at sound, and has no problem with sweating issues :)
Piece! ;)

Unfortunately they sound like Bose. No LF, hyped upper midrange, not much HF. Great for speech intelligibility. If you listen to a lot of NPR they're perfect. If you love music keep looking.

The QC25 are an amazing piece of technology. The sound reduction is much superior to the QC15, and blows the Sennheiser out of the water into the stratosphere. There is no 'vacuum' feeling like there was on the QC15 if you have the headphones on without listening to music. Everything fades away discreetly, and if you turn the music on you enter your own private space. When I travel I listen on an HTC One Max with Poweramp Pro (better result that with other music apps, including Google Music) and you can hear every little detail, breath, nuance. It's just like having a world of sounds just for yourself. Even with the above mentioned equipment I have never experienced such privacy and immersion. The sound is balanced (as usual with Bose) and spatial distribution is excellent.
Design-wise these are perfect. The case is significantly smaller than the bulky QC15 (which I have now sold), the headphones fold just that little bit better, are just that bit more comfortable. I have the white version because I was tired of all that black and it looks very nice. The inside of the case is also very well designed, with a special little compartment for the spare battery and the airplane jack. Everything is as compact and as light as it can possibly be. I haven't tried these on a train or plane yet but I have no doubt whatsoever that they'll perform beautifully. I couldn't hear myself rapping on the table, and that's not the sort of noise that these headphones are designed to cancel.
As you probably gathered I am a technophile (a Geek, as some might say)... This is the best piece of kit I have bought in a long time. It's totally worth the money, whether you want them just for noise reduction, or for listening to music.
PS: if you find that the controls don't work well on an Android phone (they are designed for i-Phones, download 'Headset Controller' from Android market. It will solve your problem and you can even assign specific tasks to specific clicking combinations.
