I have always been a massive fan of Bose. I've got the sound system in my living room and was looking forward to using these new headphones.
First of all, the packaging.
While I was worried it would arrive in a big box, the engineers have actually managed to find a way for the headphones to fold them neatly in a sturdy, yet light, carrier pouch. Perfect size to carry in hand luggage or travel bag.
What I also liked is the fat the airplane plug and extra battery have a neat little nook to be stored.
The headphones.
Put the battery in, plug and play. Simple. Left and Right indicators are inside the ear piece so the design remains pure. Switch on the noise cancelling function, hey presto, you are isolated from ambient noise. Put the music on, or a news podcast, and here you go.
Because of the noise cancelling effect, there is no need to pump up the volume and damage your ears. Also, using them in a plane, even without music helps in making traveling an even better experience.
Style wise, these headphones are classic and elegant in a timeless way.
And, since they wrap around your ears, they can also help in keeping your ears warm this winter...
Overall, a fabulous piece of equipment, definitely worth the investment!

Well, I already own the QC15 headsets, and figured if bose came out with an upgrade i'd give it a shot. These headphones supposedly took 5 years to come out since the QC15's were launched. Most said the sound quality much better than the QC15. Well, these headphones don't even hold a candle to the QC15's as far as sound quality is concerned. They sound flat, and the voice sounds muffled is the only way I can describe it compared to the QC15's. What I'm amazed is how much better the QC15's sound compared to these. The voice cancellation is about the same on both and the comfort level on the QC25's is good. The construction is okay, no problem, but its all about the sound quality. The studio beats sound better, but are much more uncomfortable than these or the 15's. For the money save yourself a few dollars and if still available pick up the QC15's, you'll be much happier and save yourself a few bucks. Im shocked that Bose put out such an awful set of headphones.

I purchased both this and the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7B for a recent international flight I took. It wasn't clear from the reviews which one was better. After testing both headphones for almost 10 hours i can report that the Bose are by *far* better than the AT headphones, in almost every category. They have a smaller case, they fit much better on the ears, the overall build quality is better, and, most importantly, the noise cancelling is simply superb. There was a big, noticeable difference in noice cancelling quality between the QC25 and the AT. If you're just a casual user for an office environment, then perhaps the AT are good enough. But for any serious use, especially flights, the Bose are significantly superior. Are they worth 3x the price. Yes!

Bought these for my wife since she has to work from home to help her quiet distractions down. Unfortunately it gives her a headache when she has to talk with them on (like on a phone call). When I use them I take one ear slightly off so you can hear yourself talk. Other than that, these things are freaking spectacular. I have used them exercising, reading, you name it they take you to a different world.

I haven't had these long, and I've seen some reviews saying that the ears will give out, eventually, but I love these. They're super comfortable and sound great. I've always loved Bose products and these haven't let me down yet.

UPDATE ON BELOW - LEFT SPEAKER STOPPED WORKING AFTER 10 MONTHS!!!! A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS KIND OF RELIABILITY.
I have been reading these headphone reviews for months. This is a lot of jack to drop on headphones. With a twenty plus hour flight coming up later in the year I pulled the trigger. Tested them on a cross country trip. When I put them on all I could do was smile. When “Metropolis” by Boney James started playing all I could do was smile wider. When Miles Davis kicked in with “So What” I knew it was worth every penny. How did I live without these? It is not until you take them off that you realize what a wind tunnel the plane is and the stress it creates. These are therapy for that tube they call the plane.

I used to have Sennheiser noise-canceling headphones and while they sounded great, the base was terrible and the volume never got loud enough. These Bose headphones blow them out of the water - and they cost $200 LESS than the Sennheisers! My only gripe is that Bose regressed a bit and made the batteries non-rechargeable. But that is a minor gripe compared to how much they get right with these!

I work in an open office environment that can get a bit noisy. When that happens the noise canceling of these headphones helps a great deal. I've tried many different solutions and listening to music with these headphones works the best. Now, if they would only come out with a blue tooth version...

Every review I've read say these set the standard for noise reduction and quality of sound. I'm not going to go try a bunch and cross compare - who has the time or money?
I fly for work every week and use these constantly. They help me catch up on my sleep!!
The noise cancelling also lets me watch movies at a decent volume level, since I don't have to blast the sound over the engine noise.

Not a fan of the Bose sound generally, but for commuting on the train, these cannot be beat and block out most of all the annoying noise. Especially if you crank up the volume a bit. But be aware, they leak quite a lot of sound, so the guy sat next to you might not appreciate it if you have these cranked loud..

I end up wearing these for many hours at work without problem. I never noticed the amount of background noise (imagine a continuous low rumble from heating/AC fans) until I turned on noise cancellation and the background noise went away.

I love these headphones! the noise canceling works very well. they are comfortable and light. The sound quality is good (as long as you have it turned on). and the battery lasts a long time. I have worn them for almost three weeks of work and the first battery hasn't died yet.

Sound quality is pretty bad. Some $50 headphones sound much better. If you can get past that, Noise canceling is really good.
Pro: Very comfortable.
Pro: 1 of the Best Noise Canceling on the market.
Con: Pretty bad sound quality.
Recommendation: These could be great for watching movies etc on a flight or any other noisy environment. Just not that good for music.

I've always wanted a pair of bose headphones but I never thought I needed a pair until I recently tried the qc25's.
I wore them on an international flight recently and they were seriously comfortable, great sound, and the noise cancelling is incredible.
A highly recommend item if you're in the market for good quality noise canceling headphones.

I used to own a pair of Beats studio over ear headphones and while they had more bass, these are far superior in noise canceling. I love these headphones. Plus the customer service of Bose is second to none.

Good for listening, not good for talking. They come with a mic, so you can make calls with these, but since there is no feedback of your own voice, it's an annoying experience. If you want a headset that does both - good sound and a nice experience while talking, try Plantronics.

To be clear: I've never owned QC15 headphones before. I'm coming from a pair of AudioTechnica Studio phones.
Main reasons for purchasing: Comfort and noise canceling. My previous over-ear headphones have ever-so-slightly better sound quality, but after wearing em for an hour or so my ears would start to hurt. Also, I didn't enjoy the fact that I needed to crank the music to drownout background noise when on a call or just working. I can wear these headphones all day without any pain (And are REALLY comfortable) as well as being able to play music at a lower volume. Will noise canceling block every single noise out? No... it's not a vacuum! That said, it does pretty well with reducing noises that it doesn't eliminate, so really, a non-issue.
Only improvement would be with sound quality. Don't get me wrong, it's still pretty darn good. I guess quality is affected by construction of noise canceling aspects in headphone.
So right: if you want a headphone with pretty good sound AND noise canceling - this is your winner. If noise canceling isn't your draw, probably should look elsewhere.

These headphones are the best! Noise Cancel function works perfect and they fit amazingly over the ears. I recommend a 2 pack of rechargeable AAA batteries at least for the NC function.

I bought these for work since we have an open seating plan and I have trouble concentrating in the environment. I can still hear the same noises that caused me to buy them: the clicking of the keyboards, the man scraping the bottom of his yogurt container, rattling of potato chip bags, people chomping on those potato chips. They don't work any better than the $10 ear buds I could have gotten from the drug store.

I had a battered old pair of QC2's that I was looking to replace and was surprised to find out the Bose do part exchange on old items, took them along to the local Bose shop to find out that they would knock £50 off reducing the price of a new pair of QC25's to £220.00. This is still above the price in the U.S.A. so as I was off to New York the following week I tried the same in the Bose store at the Rockefella Centre NY, after a bit of negotiating they reduced the price to £144.00 BARGAIN!!!

These are the best for watching movies or listening to music on airplanes. I could not believe how load it was inside the plane when I removed these from my ears. I don't know how people sleep with all that noise. These will always be with me on every flight.

I bought these for my husband, who flies frequently and finds the drone of the plane very stressful. Man, they are amazing for noise cancellation! But we cranked up our console humidifier, which makes a lot of noise, and we both tried the noise-cancellation, and...nothing. Which was exactly what we were hoping for. There was barely any hint of noise of any kind. I'm going to have to spring for a pair of these for myself! As far as listening to music with them: they sound *very* different with the noise cancellation on or off. I tried a wide variety of music--everything from Wooly Bully to a Rachmaninoff piano concerto. Tried to get clips that emphasized treble and bass. The sound is brighter and clearer, treble and bass nicely balanced, with the noise cancellation ON, more muted (some might call it muddy) with the noise cancellation OFF. I really like these headphones, and my husband is happy, too. They'll get the acid test on a flight later this month.

I bought these after returning the Avantek set I purchased and returned.
I was impressed with the sound quality, but that's about where it ended for me.
The noise cancellation wasn't too bad, and wasn't exceptional either, but my greatest disappointment was in finding that they were simply cans with a Mic chord attached for making calls, controlling music etc.
No Bluetooth, no controls on the headset, nothing. Just plain headphones like you would expect about 10 years back!
I don't like cables getting tangled all over the place. Not with the technology we have available today. So disappointed it was all just hype... Had to return yet again and have gone for what I'd always had as my first choice... The parrot zik 2.0...reviewed elsewhere...

The item was a gift. The explanation that the electronics needed a break-in period had me taken back a bit , but my daughter used this item on an extended plane trip and reported that they were truly superior.

Awesome noise-cancelling... Comfortable... but NOT durable at all. I've only owned them 3 months and already, the left earpiece doesn't work. Guess you can get them fixed but still! I haven't even got to wear them on a plane yet! Now fyi, I was plugging the cable into the headphones and walking on the treadmill at the same time when they stopped working. Nothing rough enough to break them at all! Was pretty careful with them... put them in their case as soon as I'm done using them etc. They were awesome while they were working properly, but yeahhh, disappointed. If you need headphones that are reliable, don't buy them. If you need good noise-cancelling and it's easy for you to organize having them fixed when they do break, go ahead

These are extremely comfortable headphones. They are very light. Yet they don't have the cheaply made feel. The ear cups fit snugly over the ears without too much clamping force and provides perfect seal.

Decent product. Good noise cancelling and audio quality is acceptable when in active mode. However, after very light use the headphones stopped working just after a month. I contacted Bose Customer Service and they were most unpleasant and unhelpful. After long emails back and forth, they said they would only honour warranty on products purchased directly from their website! (Are you kidding me!!??) Fortunately I contact Amazon and they replaced the headset for me pretty quickly. However, after just 4 months, now the second pair stopped working too - one of the ears has no sound. Not sure who will take the responsibility this time. Will update.

Out of the box, look good, and first impression of noise cancellation was amazing (first set of noise canceling headphones I've ever purchased, so no basis of comparison). Sound quality, however, leaves a lot to be desired! I'm not an audiophile by any definition (Since my last in-ear headphones went out 2 months ago, I've been using Apple's standard issue headphones with no complaints). I got these for the noise canceling function since I spend 4+ hours in an airplane each week, and that time is usually early in the morning when I could use the sleep.
I've heard that they need to be "broken in" over about 100 hours, which sounds crazy to me. I'll just see how they sound 29 days in (1 day before Bose's money back guarantee lapses)
Overall, the sound is okay-- just know that you are making a significant compromise for the noise canceling amazing-ness. Since Bose is widely regarded as best in class doe noise canceling products, this is probably the best you can get anyway. Just don't expect rich bass (I don't mean skull wrenching, thumping base: I mean crisp, clear bass).

Fantastic quality. I have also owned the Audio Technica brand as well. The Audio Technica brand had some annoying electronic sounds that would occur from time to time, the Bose does not. The Audio Techinca didn't fit as well on my head, the Bose fit better.

These headphones have been fantastic. I lived in an apartment with 5 other guys and had to have my computer in the living room. Having loads of homework was difficult to do when everyone was in the living room. These headphones helped me a lot in being able to focus on the programs I was writing rather than hearing and getting frustrated by the noise my roommates were making. The sound quality is good, and the noise reduction is fantastic.

Bose QuietComfort 25 gave excellent noise canceling and sound quality but, I could not use then for more than an hour before an irritating pressure built in my ears and I had to take the headphones off. Letting my ears "rest" for a while did not solve the problem. I have read some posts stating that the feeling I experienced is from the noise canceling technology. Too bad. I had hoped to use these on long fights. I returned this product to Amazon for a refund. Amazon did their part very well.

I think it is in the noise reduction function, I need to take to reduce noise when airplanes and ships Especially when in a helicopter. It is very quiet in airplanes and ships. But when the helicopter or can hear a lot of noise.

I was talking with a friend this evening about how these headphones evaporated tons of stress from a pair of cross-country flights I recently took. I really had no idea how LOUD the noises in a commercial jet actually are. Much less tired and stressed when I arrived.
From a music point of view, I might drop down to 3-1/2 or 3 stars in my rating. I think Bose tunes all its audio products as too rich in the midrange, for my taste. The sound quality is on the high end, but I think it gets muddied a bit by not having as prominent bass and high notes. It's not as crisp and crystal-clear as I would like.
However, I didn't get these puppies for the _music_. It's perfectly satisfactory, and way better than 'earpods' that I usually use with my iPhone.
I got these puppies to save my ears from deafening loud noises... and if I could give them 10 stars for that, I would.
BTW, during my conversation this evening, after I finished extolling the virtues of these headphones, my friend asked for the Amazon link.

I've had a set of these for about 4 months now. Twice so far, the headphones have broken and stopped outputting sound in one ear. The noise cancellation then also started producing a crackling noise. Bose have replaced them under warrantee, but it took a long time for them to send replacement headphones

Delivery was great as usual. These 25's are alittle harder to put back in the case until you get use to the way they fold up. I have the 15's and they work great but finding a volume control that will continue to work was a pain, so I broke down and got the 25's. So far I can't tell much difference in the sound quality or noise cancellation,but the volume control works great.

The only reason this is 3 stars is down to its reliability - for sound alone this is a brilliant pair of headphones - unfortunately within the space of a 3 weeks I went through 2 pairs of them - this was namely down to the wire connection being loose which caused music to cut out

I have had noise cancellation earphones from audiotechnica and loved them. i always resisted the added cost for the Bose, thinking to myself, that they couldn't be that much better, for $150 more. boy i was wrong, not only is the cancellation amazing but the clarity and depth of sound is astounding, from hi hats being tapped to bass guitar lines and singers singing with legible clarity.
worth every $$$

Bought the QC25 4 months ago through Amazon (Oct 2014). At the time of purchase not many reviews were up, the product had only just been released and there were not one single star review. It now seems that more and more people are having issues with the left speaker, just as I had since yesterday. I'm guessing it has something to do with poor quality components on jack, as fiddling with it gives ocasional sound, as if it is related to a bad contact problem.
I've always had very good experience with Bose products, I'm now very disappointed and concern. I haven't tried contacting Bose yet, i've only just discovered the problem and came here to check if other were having the same problem. I'm worried i've put 300 U$ to waste as others have been having a bad time getting a refund from amazon or replacement from Bose.
I'll try to write a follow up after contacting Amazon or Bose.
