These are far from the best sounding headphones I've had. While clear, it lacks punch especially when listening to modern music and suffers from lack of separation when listening to classical. Audio quality alone would place them in competition with cans around £120. Enabling noise cancelling then reduces the sound quality a little further. I believe most will be more than happy and mostly audiophiles that end up complaining anyway.
This said most people purchase Bose BQCxx headphones for is their noise cancelling and an area where QC25 does excel. It's like going from SD to HD TV, you don't notice much of a difference when you upgrade however becomes more noticeable when you revert back. By which I mean upon initiating the noise cancelling effect I did wonder if it how much sound it was reducing however after a time of use and taking them off realise what a difference it makes.
Updated styling is much better than ugly QC10 and definitely not as garish as other brands making over ear headphones. Design wise a little disappointed with the slim line headphone jack and wish they just stuck with usual 3.5mm.

New neighbors moved into the apartment above mine, and they have two of those annoying little yippy dogs. Whenever they leave, the dogs bark and howl and whine on a near-continuous basis. Of course, the neighbors care nothing for anyone around them, the apartment complex just wants the rent money and nothing else, and the police have better things to do than respond to noise complaints.
While coming here to Amazon to order a copy of Office Space to find tips on burning down the building with the yippy dogs inside, I decided perhaps rather than desperately turning to a life of crime, perhaps devices where available to stop the dogs from making my life a living hell. Well I still have to go to work, but other than that, these Bose Headphones have proven to be a magnificent solution. I put them on, plug them into my mp3 player, turn them on... and while the dogs can still be faintly heard, it is as if they were three or four apartments down, rather than right on the other side of the thin drywall. I can live with that, and so can the dogs.
That the headphones also do a great job at blocking out other noises like the dishwasher or the fans, is a wonderful bonus. That they work with readily available common sized batteries is also fantastic.
Thus, these headphones have saved two dogs' lives. And perhaps the neighbors as well. Maybe even kept me out of jail for 20 years. They might seem expensive, but cheaper than a defense lawyer.

Pros
- Comfortable. I can wear this for hours and won't feel any strain on/around my ears.
- Quiet. It dramatically reduces low frequency noises like airplane hums or background noises in coffeehouse.
- Detachable cable. If the cable fails for some reason, all you have to do is purchase just a new cable, not the entirely new pair of headphone.
- Crisp & clear sound. Usual for Bose, sound profile is leaning more towards mid and higher frequency while giving out a very nice/tight base.
- AAA batteries. No more proprietary battery like QC3.
- Looks nice. I prefer this look over the older QC15/QC3.
- Smaller case. Easier to carry around when traveling.
Cons....I can't think of anything.
Honestly, I can't find anything that I'm not happy with. Unless you like a bass heavy stuff, QC25 should give you everything you want. A crisp and clear sound with decent amount of bass. The noise canceling that block out background noises (not everything though).
Again, since I'm not an audiophile, I can't really critique the sound profile of QC25, but as an average consumer who cares about sound quality, this was a great buy.
PS. The box redesign is also amazing.

The headphones are neat and attractive and arrive with a sturdy protective case measuring only 5 inches x 8 inches x by 2 inches deep, into which the earpieces fold deftly with the headband. An AAA battery is required and BOSE claim this will provide 35 hours of listening, yet should the battery run out the headphones may continue to be used but without ‘Noise Cancelling’. Setting up is straightforward even without the instruction leaflet and diagram on the box. There is an audio cable to the left earpiece and a jack for connecting to my iPad (or iPhone or iPod if I had one). Volume is variable to suit music or verbal though this may require some source adjustment. With ‘Noise Cancelling’ I find that I can listen to my music at slightly lower volumes than normal. The ‘BOSE QC25 Headphones’ are way and above the best headphones I have ever used for both performance and comfort. Their appearance may be traditionally classic but their excellence in functioning is what matters and that is supremely superb - it is 5-star.
