I like the new star rating system, however there is no way to put N/A. I rated noise and print quality as 5 stars. Noise is something I could care less about, so I would have put N/A. I don't know how much noise a device like this is supposed to put out, although it is no more noisy to me than any printer or scanner I have ever had. As far as print quality, I don't use this printer to print pictures(my primary rating of print quality) as I have other printers for that, but the text looks fine so I rated this 5 stars as well.Overall, this piece of equipment has to be one of the most well designed and easiest to setup and use of any computer peripheral I have ever had.Really, It couldn't be simpler. Setup was a breeze, use is a breeze, one touch use buttons on the front makes it easy for non-computer people(like my wife) to use, etc. There are only two minor gripes I would have about this "all in one"One, the wireless is awesome and was easy to setup. It works flawlessly for printing via my wife's Macbook, however after initial setup for my Vista Based HP computer, I lost the ability for the computer to find the printer and print to it. Scans to my computer work perfectly though. Go figure, a difficulty with Microsoft, HOW UNLIKELY IS THAT?Two, although most people have no problem faxing to this machine, on one occasion a person said they tried to send me a fax and I never received it. I think it might have been an issue on their end as after that I did some tests, and couldn't find a problem with it at all.Scan:When you want to scan, you put the document in either the ADF and you get a message saying "ADF Ready" and you hit scan. It gives you four options for scanning and which of our two computers to send the document to. simple.Copy:Copying is a two button process from the front. Either load the ADF or open up the flat bed and place the document in it, and press copy. It works just like any Copy machine I have used at work, and is more simple.Print:Printing is a breeze, except for that minor issue with my Vista Machine. I would bet that is a Microsoft issue and not a Brother issue. I think I have read something about I need to set up my computer to have a permanent IP address or something. My internet works fine, so I don't want to mess with it. Besides, I might be willing to do this if my wife's Mac didn't work flawlessly.Fax:Besides that ghost issue I have mentioned above, it works perfectly.Summary:I really like this "All in One" and would highly recommend it based on my experience. This has been a winner for me.

Issues with WLAN connections occurred regularly. I used WPA, WPA2, WEP . . . in all cases, connections were intermittent. After going through tech support, it was resolved by resetting the factory network settings and starting over. I noticed that this has to be done after each power outage in this case.Large paper drawer and feed poorly designed - jammed regularly, thus eventually stopped using it altogether. After calling tech support, unable to resolve. They sent suggestions on finding scrap paper in the feeds and cleaning, but none of this worked.Document feeder on top quite often grabs more than one page. I need to hold the paper to make sure this doesn't happen, which means I have to stay at the printer while I use this feature - defeating the purpose. Cleaning did not help.I would not buy this brand again as it's the second Brother printer I've had with similar dissatisfaction.

I been using this printer for the last three years.the best thing is it does its job very well and also replacing catridge wont cost you a fortune and the catridge ink never get 'expired' unlike in those hi-fi printers which wont let you print with a unused but expired cartridge even if you never used your printer . Also till now it has never had any issue with paper getting struck.

Decent printer. Paid $70 w/ rebate for a refurb model at Staples. Would not find it worth $125, even as a new printer.GOOD:Nice printing; all-in-one features all workI like the scanning software although aannoying to set up (poor instructions...or I just don't read 'em carefully)Previous experience with Brother service mostly goodBAD:Paper tray waaay cheapNo ability to feed a single sheet directly--not a huge problem but...For printing an envelop, you have to remove tray, remove paper, change paper guide width, put in envelop(s), print, remove tray and replace paper.USB connector *inside* the machine (?!). When I called tech support because I couldn't get the machine to close again (just takes force) I was told that was a software issue (!)

I haven't even opened the box on my new purchase yet, but that is because I own the exact same model and it is still working, though I believe I purchased it about 5 years ago. I like it so much that I bought a spare for when and if this one quits working. It is the most user friendly printer I have ever had. I no longer have a fax line in my home, so I don't use that part of it anymore, but I am a realtor and I scan and send contracts and related documents daily and it is always reliable. It is the only printer I have ever had that the roller has not needed to be replaced. I use quality copy paper and very seldom have it pull multiple papers through. So, there you have it. A review of the item, even though I have not opened the carton! Great Product and I am able to purchase compatable ink cartridges very inexpensively on the internet. So simple to change the cartridges too!

Brother took my money and the only thing I got was a valuable lesson. Had to return MFC once because the scanner stopped working. Now it has just turned into a black hole for money, ink, and time. The entire machine stops working if it THINKS one printer color is empty. (Sometimes it thinks that and it is wrong)I will never, EVER buy another Brother product. I can't wait to throw this thing in the garbage and get some satisfaction for what I have invested.

I so wish I could've seen into the future when I bought this. I got the printer when it first came out. I haven't had the ink hog problems of some people, but I am lucky to get a single page out before it jams. Again. I've probably pulled out three "jammed" pages for every printed--not that there's any actual evidence of a jam, mind you. When you crack open the cover, everything appears to have fed fine. Or, there's no paper there at all to have jammed. This thing once reported a jam when it was actually out of paper. And when it says to open the back cover to clear the jam, that really isn't sufficient. I have to open the main cover and put it back down.If the dang thing would actually print, I'd like it. I had no problems with the setup or connectivity, even when I changed routers. The quality and scanning are sufficient for what I need, but with this operational difficulty, Brother lost a customer, much the same way HP did with my experiences on their printers.

I bought this printer to replace an HP AIO (PSC1600) after the scanner stopped working (which also killed the copy function). At first, I was hesitant to get the Brother because its not a brand I usually associate with good quality printing or graphics. (Like HP or Canon). But I am very glad I got this printer - have had it for about a month now. The look and feel of it is very solid - it feels like quality- not like the plasticy HPs I've had. Takes up less space than my HPs did, and the only wire is the power cord. (It's connected wirelessly to my 802.11n network router, and I can print wirelessly from 2 Wifi laptops.)It easily connected wirelessly to both my PC(XP) and Mac(Leopard). Even using WPA security and Symantec client firewall on the home network, it just worked right out of the box. Not a lot of fussing. To get the printer to show up "ready" on my PC, I specified "permit always" on my Symantec Firewall for 4 Brother apps: Brother Status Monitor, BRAdmin, Control Center3, and Brother Remote Setup app. The firewall automatically prompted me for 3 of these permissions, but not Brother Status Monitor, which I specified manually. (If you don't set that permission for Brother Status Monitor in your firewall, the printer status will show offline on the PC even though you can print to it.)I also manually set the IP address of the printer (given by a printout of the device settings), in Windows (Printer Properties->Port->Configure TCPIP port-> set IP address). Mac/Airport did not require this extra step. The feature I like about it most is that it powers itself down into a sleep mode after use, and wakes up when you send it a print, or initiate a scan or copy from the PC or Mac. Very energy savvy. And it is VERY quiet compared to my past HP printers. No more HP-klinketey klunk every time I [manually] powered them up. The Brother wakes up silently, automatically, and just immediately starts printing.Initiating functions like fax from PC is almost too easy- I sent a MSFT Word document directly to a fax number, from Word, without touching the Brother software or device controls. Once this printer is installed, moving digital images to and from the printer is easy.As far as print quality- I was a little dismayed initially by the first color prints I sent it, UNTIL I realized that there are numerous print settings you can make to switch between: 1.Fast, 2.Fast Normal, 3.Normal, and 4.Fine on Plain Paper... or... 5.Fine, 6.Photo or 7.Highest on Photo paper. That's 7 separate quality selections. There are also 2 print options for "Natural" or "Vivid" colors.Ink usage is very good- especially if you use the appropriate quality setting (I print a lot of plain paper color pages, just for reading.) I have printed probably 75 pages and the starter ink hasn't taken a dent yet. One of the nice software features is that you can see the ink levels from the printer control application, from both your PC and Mac. Another nice design feature in this printer is the ink access-- very easy, from a little access door in the front- you don't have to lift the scanner or top to get to it like other printers. 4 Ink cartridges make it efficient to run- only replace what you need (Black, Yellow, Magenta, Cyan). They are much easier to load than my HPs Vivera inks were. And Brother's LC61 inks are less expensive.Overall, a very sophisticated AIO (Wifi, Ethernet, Pictbridge, USB, ADF, support for multiple save formats like tiff, pdf, bmp, jpg, etc) and very well built printer for a very low price (paid $129 for mine). While its not equivalent to a topline scanner (1200 dpi vs 4800dpi) the scans I have done come out very clear and accurate. Photocapture can capture up to whatever the resolution is of your camera, from flash card, USB or PictBridge, and save it as jpg, bmp, tiff, or pdf. Pretty awesome.

Just FYI the ink magically disappears from this printer... I have switched to only printing in black and white with my MFC-255CW. I replaced all of my ink cartridges 46 days ago, because even to print in black and white it requires that I have ink in ALL cartridges. One other note is that if you take the ink cartridge out and put it back in it will say that it's empty. I found that out after accidentally ejecting a cartridge that was not even low when I was changing the other cartridges and the printer said it was gone after I put it back it. That was upsetting, so I bought another printer (which I LOVE!) and have only been using the MFC255-CW for scanning purposes. The settings on my computer are to just print in black and white as well. So without using any magenta ink it has evaporated into thin air and now I can't even scan without buying another magenta ink cartridge. For that ink cartridge to last barely a month and to have printed at most 10 pages not even using any color ink is ridiculous! I wouldn't wish this printer on anyone! As soon as I can afford to buy a scanner I'm going to pull an "Office Space" on this printer, because I would feel guilty selling this to someone or even giving it to the Salvation Army. One last thing I wasn't impressed with the print quality for photos. We messed around with it and couldn't get the print quality to be any better than paying (what amounts to the fraction of the cost I have spent in time and money messing with this printer) to just have someone else print nice photos for me.

I went online looking for a printer that would handle 11x17 stock for brochures, folders and book signatures...WOW! I thought OK cheap and easy - well we will see. The printer/scanner/copier/mass-storage camera card reader I could go on and on! I scan to file from the printer! I print borderless picture perfect images in a variety of sizes up to 11"x17" (ledger) size, and it is still on the original ink after a ton of experiments and research work!!! Yes the ink is economical and the printer unit as a whole is fantastic... next I want to finally set up the fax... I have never used it before so may have to edit this later, but fax or not everything else is worth the meager amount I paid for it and it outperforms every printer of any brand other than Brother that I have ever experienced including the original Xerox printshop models I operated!!! way back when... just get one already! You won't be sorry. I sure am not!

This printer has given me NOTHING but problems. It won't recognize the ink cartridges and somehow has used an ENTIRE cartridge of yellow and blue when I have only printed in black since purchasing brand new cartridges because it wouldn't recognize the old ones. I got my first on in February of this year and it stopped recognizing the ink cartridges by July even after replacing them twice. I sent it back and was given a replacement in August, and the brand new one stopped working by October. I don't print in very high volume, just papers for school and some scanning. If any of the colors run out (which they apparently do of their own accord) you can't print in ANY other color. The sets of ink cartridges are expensive, especially after having to buy four sets because the printer wouldn't recognize them. I'm not spending another cent on this printer, and am sending it back to ask for a full refund. Also, the set to greyscale option didn't work. I tried to set it and, just in case I was doing something incorrectly, also had three other people check to see if it was set correctly and none of them could get it to work either.I will say, however, that the scanner and copier functions work perfectly well for documents (have not used it for pictures or anything with color), and I've had no problems using them with my Mac, which is the only reason that this printer is getting two stars instead of one (or zero if I could). And when it did actually print anything the quality was acceptable.

I bought this printer during my time in college where I studied Graphic Design. I wanted a printer that could print and scan larger so I didn't always have to run out at the last second to a print shop. So far the printer is OK. I don't have the best paper so I'm not sure if that's why the colors aren't as saturated. I don't know about ink consumption either but so far it seems to be doing okay.It prints fast enough through wifi but, can be pretty slow when you're printing larger files. I wish it would of come with a USB cable so I could hook it straight to my laptop, so if that's what you're wanting to do you're going to have to buy it separately. It was easy to hook up and to be honest, I haven't done anything with the CDs. I was going to but, I found the whole interface to be confusing so I ejected and forgot about it. I haven't run into any problems though. It is pretty bulky! You'll definitely want to plan where you're going to put it. I ended up having to get a side table to set it on!It seems like a great price for what it is, but, is still a lot of money. I expected a better print quality, I'm sure my HP desktop printer prints far better.

Wish I had read all these reviews before purchasing it.The first few prints (photocopies) seemed fine (b/w only)Not much printing since, but the few attempts resulted in smudged, shifted printing - ie. it appears that onsuccessive prints of the same document the head is no longer aligned correctly so the result is completelyillegible and appears smudged. I don't see how any cleaning could fix this problem - to the trash heap it willhave to go ! :(One star is being generous.

Contrary to one of the erroneous reviews, the Brother 8085DN DOES support duplex scanning and copying. That is why you pay $50-75 more than the 8080DN, which only does duplex printing. We have the 8080DN and this series of Brother printers is FANTASTIC -- an amazingly powerful business printer for the price of a personal printer. These things are well built, meant for a busy workgroup/small business setting. My wife runs a small nonprofit and has to print board packets and this thing just cranks them out. It will happily print two-sided packets and collate them -- it will go hours of printing without a hiccup. Duplex printing is much slower than one sided printing -- DUH, that is true of ANY printer. You're not going to get high duplex speed until you get into the corporate printers. We have also owned the Canon ImageClass duplexing printer. The Canons are terrific, very trouble free personal printer. But there is a HUGE catch -- their $65 toner cartridge will only go about 1,000 pages. The biggest selling point for this printer -- the Brother 8000 series can use a high yield cartridge (about $85, or less if you feel comfortable using a remanufacture) that is rated at a whopping 8000 pages!!!We do a lot of printing, so I researched extensively, and Brother is in a class by itself for cartridge capacity and low print costs for this class of printer. I highly recommend anything in the 8000 series. The only reason you might not want this printer for a home office is that it is BIG. But you can't get performance like this in anything smaller that I know of.Other good things:1) Energy Star compliant. In sleep mode this printer only draws 18 watts to keep the drum warm. You'd be surprised how many printers eat 40 or 50 watts in standby mode, which will cost you $30 or $40 over a year's time. Energy Star means first page speed is not quite as good as the little HPs, but it's still only like 12 seconds.2) This printer has TRUE networking capability -- no need for print server. That means the only connection you need is ethernet from your router to the printer. Install drivers, and every computer on the network can control this printer completely -- that means scanning as well. I can't tell you how much better that is than having a USB printer that has to be shared. Brother seems to have high quality drivers -- we've connected XP, Vista and Win 7 without a hitch. To sum up, everything about this printer speaks of quality and durability. It is just incredible what you can get for $300-$350 these days.

Installed super fast, ink is super cheap and lasts 2-3 months each, I love that I only have to replace one at a time.Rarely jams for me (don't have a memory of it ever jamming), and has no problems with multiple computers.Cons:Cancelling a job already in progress is a pain, sometimes stopping a scan sent to the wrong computer is a complete restart.Scanning takes 50 steps. Place paper on tray, press scan, scroll down select scan to image, scroll down, select the computer, press okay, then press start? We can definitely remove some of that unneed process in there if I have the computer up on the window (which is hard to see) why can't I just press start?Faxing:Does not tell you the fax number, or give you a print out to show what came through/what was sent I realize this is a waste of ink, but the confirmation is nice, maybe will read manual to find a way to do this.

UPDATE: I am returning this printer to Amazon. I could only get the printer to work intermittently. Then Brother support had me switching settings in my computer for my connection that eventually had me with NO internet at all. Thanks alot Brother.Turns out there's a known issue: scroll down the page to the post by Kent Ickler on 3-14-09[...]After many hours playing with the settings endlessly, I tried this person's suggestions and it STILL wouldn't work - so I gave up. Off it goes, back to Amazon.Would I recommend this printer now? HECK NO! It looks great - but it's a great big paperweight (unless I want to connect via USB - but I wanted a wireless!).*******************************************************************************************************This is my very first wireless printer. One less wire in the world is a much better thing for me! I bought this printer based on the many, many positive reviews about all the features. I wanted to get a machine that would scan, fax, and print wireless, and I found that in this machine and more. It also takes CF and SD cards and will put them up on the screen; you can print directly from your memory card! The main reason I bought it though was it's wireless capability. One thing you should know is that it depends on router how easy or hard this setup will be for you. Unfortunately for me, it was HARD. I have an older router, and don't have the funds to constantly replace computers, routers and other equipment in constant upgrades. If you have a router that has the "SecureEasy Setup", "Wi_fi Protected Setup" or "AOSS", than it probably is easier. If you have a router with either of those things, it just takes one push of a button on your router and you'll be connected to your printer. For me, it involved hours of time. I know my way around my computer, but this was all new to me. I took over an hour of my time reviewing the instructions that came with the printer before I called Netgear (my router); spent over an hour with some guy in India who was obviously reading through the manual to find answers (I eventually had to hang up on him after an hour - he obviously was not going to help me). You'll need to know your SSID; your authentication method (open, WPA, or WPA2); Encryption Mode (None, WEP, TKIP, AES); and your Encryption Key (WEP Key/Passphrase).Once I got it up and running I practically celebrated! I've printed out a few documents and like the quality. I like the fact you have separate ink color cartridges so you only replace the color you've used up. The only thing that would make this better would be if it had two paper trays, or a way to feed labels/envelopes in without taking out the paper tray. Of course, the printers that have two trays are way more money.I'll report back in a few months to let everyone know if it's still in good running order - and if I still love it. Overall, even with all the difficulties setting it up, I just love it now!

I have home network with 5 Windows XP Professional computers and one Intel Macbook running OS X version 10.4. I am a Professional Software Engineer and keep my home network well maintained. I wanted to add a low cost network printer to my network which was accessible from Windows and OS X. I am in the process of retiring all my Windows computers and transitioning all workstations to OS X.After I received my Brother MFC-5460cn, I figured I would start testing on OS X because if I was going to have problems, it would probably be on the Mac. My plan was to test all functionality (print, scan, fax, copy) on both Windows and OS X with the printer configured as a network printer. I did not test the printer's USB capabilities.I started by testing printing and scanning on OS X. After I installed the drivers, the first problem I had was that I could not launch the Brother Control Center Software. Brother breaks from the traditional OS X interface and places the icon to launch the control center software on the menu / task bar at the top of the screen. I did not expect the launch icon to be located at the top of the screen and it took me a while to find it. My bad. After figuring out how to launch the software, I proceeded to test printing under OS X. Printing worked great and I did not find any issues. I tested printing multiple documents from OS X and Windows at the same time. I also tried scanning from OS X while the printer was printing. I did not test scanning from Windows while the printer was printing. I also tried reading the ink levels while printing, this also worked fine.Next, I tested scanning from OS X. There are 2 ways to scan: Initiate a scan from the Brother Control Center application, or initiate a scan from the printer front panel. I started testing by initiating a scan from the Brother Control Center software. I tested scan to image, scan to email, and scan to file. I did not test scan to OCR. Scan to image scans a document, launches Preview (note: Preview is the Apple equivalent of Adobe Acrobat Reader), and places the image in Preview. Scan to file scans an image and places the image in a file on your Mac hard drive. Scan to email scans an image, launches Apple Mail, and places the image in a new email message. All this functionality worked great for the most part. But, during one of my tests, the Brother Control Center software hung and I had to kill it using Activity Monitor and restart it.Next, I tested scanning by initiating a scan from the printer itself. To use this feature, I first used the Brother Control Software to register my Mac's computer name with the printer. This process registers the computer with the printer so the printer can scan an image and send it to the computer. Next, from the printer front panel, I selected scan, scan to file, and then selected my Mac computer name which I chose during the registration process above. The printer scanned an image and successfully placed it on the hard drive of my Mac. I also tested scan to email, and scan to image when initiating the scan from the printer front panel. Just like initiating a scan from the Brother Control Center (as described above), scan to file places a file on the computer hard drive, scan to image opened Preview and placed the image in Preview, and scan to email opened Apple mail and placed the image in a new email message. All of these tests were performed by initiating the scan from the printer. All of this functionality worked great and I was very surprised that I did not find any issues. At this point, I was pretty happy and figure I had it nailed. I switched to the Windows XP Platform not expecting any problems with Windows. After all, it is the dominant OS and I figured Brother would put all their testing into Windows and not be very serious about testing OS X. Printing from Windows worked flawlessly as expected. As mentioned above, I tried printing from Windows and OS X while scanning and reading the ink levels, all at the same time. Everything worked great.Scanning from Windows was another story. I immediately had problems getting the Brother Control Center Software to see the scanner. It was definitely NOT a communication issue because I could print from Windows, read the printer's ink levels, and run the printer configuration utility. But, I could not scan. Finally, after messing around for an hour, I was able to initiate a scan from the brother control center software. But, when I initiated a scan from the printer, it would never transmit the image to the Windows computer. I could never get scanning to work reliably from Windows. If I successfully scanned an image from Windows, then scanned an image from OS X, I would then have problems the next time I tried to scan from Windows. Note that I was running the latest printer firmware level (revision G), and running all the latest drivers which I downloaded from the Brother web site. I also tried scanning from an altern

The inexpensive price tag lured me into buying the Brother 465CN all-in-one printer. The apparent low-cost ink also made this look like a good deal.BUT...After printing only about a dozen pages, I needed to buy more ink.I don't print every day. When I do print, I usually use the draft mode to conserve ink.So I thought maybe the cartridge just dried out. That seemed odd to me.I changed the ink cartridges again(which seem to be getting more expensive each time I buy new ones).Again, after about a month, and only printing about a dozen pages, the 'Low Ink Level' indicator appeared.I couldn't figure out what was using up all that ink.The answer came late one night when I heard the machine in "Cleaning Mode". Apparently, whether I use the printer or not, it runs through a cleaning process which wipes away any ink that may be sitting on the surface of the cartridge, thereby ensuring that ink is being used up.What a waste! What makes it even worse is that if the printer thinks it's out of ink, it won't let you perform any of the other function. No fax. No copy. No scan. This seems counter-intuitive to me.I expected more from Brother, a company that I've worked with for years.I do not recommended this or any other printing product from Brother.

Великолепно

I bought my MFC-490CW yesterday and in the 24 hours that I have owned it I have just one thing to say - WOW!I like this printer so much - that I felt that I needed to review it right away and here is why: (my review is based on over 15 years of owning various printers, scanners and fax machines)1. The Setup:Setup was even easier than most wired printers that I have had: The hardest part of the setup was unpacking and getting all the tap and locks of the printers. After that, I pretty much was able to get everything setup by not even having to take a look at the manual (I did use the quick setup manual). Once the printer was setup and hooked to my wireless network, I installed the drivers that were on the CD on my computers and the setup did all the parts of finding the printer, installing it, that I was amazed that by the end of the installation I had a working printer setup. I have one computer that is wired to the wireless router and 2 laptops that access the network using wireless connectivity. The printer accesses the network through wireless connectivity too. 2 machines on the network run Windows XP and installation was eventless on them. On my Vista laptop, the setup ran into some problem and just kept waiting for a long time. I just shutdown the installation process, restarted the computer and then restarted the installer - this time around - the installation went off successfully. I am amazed at how hands off the installation from each computer is: Normally after the drivers are installed you need to find the printer, etc, etc.... With the MFC 490, you run the installer and you are done... You are ready to print/scan/fax right after that.2. The features:This is probably the most feature rich printer that I have seen in a $100 multi-function printer. * You can scan from any computer on the network. * You can scan from the printer and have it send the image to any computer you like. * The automatic paper feeder works! * You can not only send and receive faxes on the device, but also do it from any of the computers on the network. * the Paper port software provided - does a great job of the OCR * I love the integrated paper feeder for printing - no ugly stack of papers sticking out of the printer. * It is fast - I was worried that being connected over the wireless network - printing and especially scanning would be slow.... but it felt just as fast as when I used to be connected to my old printers using a USB cable. * With all these features - it is like having a separate printer connected directly to each computer on your network.3: Print quality:No complaints - it is a $100 printer - I am not expecting shop quality print outs, yet the quality of photos was good and I could not find anything to complain about. Also - the ink is pretty cheap - $10 for color cartridges and $15 for the black ink. (I found after market cartridges for even cheaper - but wouldnt risk those).4: Scan quality: Scanning was easy and every computer accesses the scanner just as though it were directly connected to it. You can specify scan settings (resolution, quality, size and area to be scanned) from your computer. Scan quality of photos was good. Scan quality of documents was good and the OCR I did of a printer letter was good and had an accuracy of about 95%.5: Looks:The printer has a low form factor - so it blends nicely with the office. With no papers sticking out - it looks very aesthetically pleasing.I would recommend this device to anybody who is looking to buy a new printer any time soon. It is a solid printer, with great features and best of all it is cheap. It certainly is worth $200 for what it gives you in features and ease of use. You can get it for $100 to $130 in most stores.I love it! This is how printers should be made.

Плохо

I buy these for work because of space limitation, they last about a year when printing 5-20 pages a day. They will not work if you are out of any type of ink, even if you only want to print in black & white and yellow is out. Taking out paper jams can be a pain if they are deep in, as there is no easy access unless you have the hands of a 5 year old.I consider these throw away printers, because once you get the generic error numbers that have no true answer to what is wrong, its cheaper to just replace then to waist the man hours attempting to fix.
