I never had a problem with instillation. I have Windows7 32bit on my Desktop and 64bit on my laptop. With both computers I just plugged it in and it worked.The video quality is exceptional. I was once chatting with friends on stickam and one of my friends cable was out. From across the room I was able to use the zoom feature towards the TV and show them the game. The TV is (without exaggeration)20+ feet away, I was on max zoom for the camera and the picture was still crisp and clear. It IS 720 HD.THE FLAW! And this is why it gets 3 stars instead of 5. It is constantly on auto-focus, even when you are not moving every so often the camera goes blurry and it refocuses. This is no big deal for chatting on skype or stickam or wherever, but recording a video on it is impossible. Well not impossible, I have done it a few times but had to use a video editor to take out those annoying auto-focus moments. And there is no way to turn the auto-focus off, I have looked all over the web and asked other people with this cam.So if you are just getting a webcam to chat, I highly recommend this. If you ever intend to record video buy a different one. I am currently looking for a different webcam right now and reading through reviews. I figured I might as well repay the kindess and let others know my experience with this webcam.

I have been using this camera for Skype calls (it has been sitting on my desk at the office). It has been working just fine (my computer has Windows 7). Perfect for the price!

The NX-3000 was a better product in my opinion. Poor auto focus and an over all poor performance. I will continue looking for a solid, inexpensive and reliable portable cam.

This is a good camera. It was recognized in Windows 7 and Windows Vista without any problems. The quality image is acceptable. This is beatiful and small. Good for Microsoft with this device.

I purchased this item from Amazon brand new as a gift for my mother in law. When I received this camera it was lacking the cd drivers and instruction manual. I was very unhappy.

The Whole Camera Is Made Just Right! The Only Flaw is The Auto Focus.it has a mind of its own..but to fix that is to open the camera options and deselect auto focus..easy like that! Highly Recommend This Camera To Anyone!

Good entry level cam with mike for Skyping, and such. No software included so you need to rely on your windows program to identify. Well worth the money.

Like the title says best webcam for 30 bucks. Love the adjustable stand, I wish it could clip on to my monitor tho. For a webcam that does 720p for 30 bucks is pretty damn good and you can't beat it. Autofocus is a little bit annoying but you can disable it with one click.

i just bought the Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 Webcam (Red Accent)and for the price i didn't expect a good image but surprisingly it had a very clear and sharp picture. Would recommend to anyone!!!

Great quality of image and good mount, but it wont stop auto-focusing! It's insane and pissing me off, there are no new drivers to fix this, you have to find some crap software and edit the registry to make it stick, praying it was in focus when you did. If you have no idea how to do that, stay away from this one.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!! I am very disappointed in Microsoft Lifecam HD-5000. I should have read everyone's review before buying this product...I'm not just talking about reviews here on Amazon but reviews on the web itself. After receiving this product in the mail (I order one for me and one for my son who is in college so we could skype), I could not get this webcam to work with win 7 or win xp (I have 3 computers in the house). My son have same problem. I try to update the driver to no avail. I try uninstall and reinstall a dozens of times, nothing works. I would consider myself a knowledgable person when it comes to computer because I built computers for a living and also do video editing as a business. In all my years of computer hardware, I have never experience this much frustration with a computer product as this LifeCam crap. That's all this is..CRAP! Now I would say that I have a defective product only if it was just mine that doesn't work but my son's doesn't work either and I order mine (same model) from walmart and he got his from here (Amazon). What are the odds of both of us getting 2 defective products. So I got frustrated and started googling reviews on the net about this product...and sure enough....tons of people have the same issue that we have(they also have issues with different models too). They could not get the webcam to work...their pc could not recognized the webcam. They try everything I tried and could not succeed. I was pretty sure that someone would have an answer on the net to fix this darn thing so that I don't have to send it back...but NOPE! it looks like no one was able to fix the issue that we are having so I am sending it back. Well...to summarized it..the software installed fine but when try to launch it, it crashes all the time. Use the webcam without the software...nothing (black screen). MSN or SKYPE would not recognize the webcam. I do not believe this...that I would go through all this trouble just to get a webcam working. I WOULD RATE THIS A ZERO IF I COULD! MAYBE A NEGATIVE ONE!So my warning to you...DO NOT BUY THIS or if you want to buy it. I suggest...do some research. read others reviews on the net before you consider buying this thing. I wish I had. Good luck to you if you buy this.

The audio quality is so good that I'd rather speak with someone through this webcam than on the phone (OK, that might have something to do w/surround-sound speakers, but still)! Great video & audio. I love using it for Google Plus Hangouts, and have also successfully used it with Skype. It was extremely easy to set up, and you just cannot beat the price! My sister and I have one and both like it, plus she bought one for our nephew. I recommend it to anyone looking for a webcam (I'd bet it's even better than some of the more expensive ones, because I just can't find a problem with it so far). :)

First of all, I received this as a gift... thankfully I didn't waste my money on it!Microsoft branded this product, which they probably spent $0.49 on it from their Chinese supplier!Pros:It works.Easy set up, Windows 7 installed the drivers quickly and it required no other software to work with Google, Yahoo, Skype, etc.Built in microphone is nice touch for use on my laptop or desktop without built in mic and it picks up sound fairly wellSmall size is easy to transport (came with pouch to keep it clean and scratch free)Spring clip holds strong on laptop lid (decent grip), and "lip" on clip fits snug into the groove on my HP desktop monitorCons:USB cord is WAY too short for desktop use, so it only has use for Laptop unless you have USB on your monitor, a hub, or extension cable.Auto-focus is pathetic (pointed it to the wall and it still changes focus every few seconds) - turn it off and you lose color definition, and you have to install Microsoft software pack to do that.When not in use, it still lights the blue light (not sure what it is doing or why) for a second or two every few minutes (ANNOYING - and WHAT is it doing? snapping pics back to Microsoft? Hmmmm... makes me a bit paranoid...) >>Sarcasm Warning<

I've had several logistic webcams, and two Microsoft cams, Microsoft cams are SOOO much clearer, this cam rocks! The only downside is the base that it sits on, I'd like it to be able to just sit on the desk or shelf without bending and adjusting to make it sit still.

Auto focus is annoying and the picture always looks washed out. I've had other Microsoft webcam that worked much better, but can't remember which one. I would have returned this one, except by the time I experienced what others were seeing, it was too late. I would not purchase this product again...

I highly recommend this camera. Especially for the price, you will not find another camera that comes close to comparison. It's SUPER easy to install, plug it in via USB and everything thing else is automatic. I use it for both video conferencing and for personal use. I bought another camera just like this one for my second computer, AND I purchased one for my parents and THEY can use it easily. Use it to communicate via Skype, etc., or use the camera's functions to record audio, video, and take pictures. Great item!

I purchased a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 and it REFUSED TO INSTALL ON WINDOWS 7 (64bit) Operating system.The software that came with it and the drive would not install at all and the cam was seen as connected however it refused to run.Logitech suggested installing it some stupid way citing that I was not following the instructions.After 3 emails to logitech support I returned the product to amazon for my money back.I know many people in the computer repair business and had a close friend suggest I purchase a microsoft lifecam hd5000 720p HD webcam.As soon as the cam arrived I plugged it in and barely got through the cd installer before it saw the cam and had it up running on my screen.The software and everything runs perfect and it has some very great quality features.IF YOUR RUNNING WINDOWS 7 64 bit or 32 bit this cam will not let you down.Its excellent and top quality.STAY AWAY FROM LOGITECH WEB CAMS!! THEY ARE A RIP OFF AND NEVER INSTALL OR RUN PROPERLY!! THEIR TECH SUPPORT SUCKS AND THEY HONESTLY DO NOTHING TO HELP YOU BUT TELL YOU TO KEEP TRYING TO REINSTALL.i WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER LOGITECH PRODUCT AGAIN AFTER WHAT I WAS PUT THROUGH WITH THEIR SUPPORT DEPT.

This web cam is great, and very user friendly. Its perfect for chatting with friends via skype, but I do not reccomend using this for business purposes. The transmission is great, but if you want to exhibit professionalism in your communication delivery you may want to invest in a better product.Overall, it is a definite must-buy for informal communication with friends and family. :)

The camera itself is OK. It can support resolutions up to 720p for video, however the quality is not great. The picture is "cheap" looking - but you get what you pay for.The big problem with this camera is the bug in the software which causes far too much auto-focusing. Every 20 seconds or so the camera will do its auto-focus routine and make the picture fuzzy then clear again. There is a work-around which involves you manually focusing the camera and disabling the automatic focus feature.The work-around is acceptable enough for me not to want to return the webcam, but if I were to buy another I would go with a logitech. I find them much more reliable.

This high definition, automatic focusing webcam is everything that was advertised. The picture is very misleading. I expected a huge thing that I wondered where I would locate it. Actually, it is very small and easily sits inconspicuously on top of my monitor.

I had a webcam that I purchased from amazon, for about $2. It wasn't very good, but for the price I didn't expect much. So, I thought it was time to buy a new one, but a better quality one this time, one that wasn't over over $20. I found this one. The quality is really good for the price, the mic works really well in my opinion. The one flaw was that I was sent then red one when I ordered blue. The pictures on the box all show the blue version, but mine was red. Oh well ,it's not THAT big of a deal, but I wish they didn't mess up on that.
