Великолепно

Microsoft Lifecam 1000 works great, it does rest steady and solidly on my Dell Ultrasharp 19" flat display. The video quality is good for a basic model. Enjoy.

I first bought the Logitech 5000 and returned it after hours of problems I will not go into here. I then bought the MS LifeCam VX-6000 and over all I like it but I have the same problem as others with the echo chamber audio. No one has a good idea why it does it. It has even affected my music files and they also have a echo sound when I play them. Also I have not been able to make the face tracking work. I have to use MS messenger since the family and friends I know all use that program. Skype works fine but you would think MS LifeCam would work with MS Messenger. Or would you?

I bought this unit and it works "great". Not good in dim light and no focus adjustment so nothing past 4 feet...If you want a portable cam with easy setup and great video its for you.But if you want a cam with more fetures and your not in need of the portability try the Philips 900nc..better unit with more features and killer dim light ability..read my review there for more...

Woould those who post ratings please tell what size cpu and motherboards you are using? It would help the rest of us know if the reason for the bad reviews are because the computers are older and smaller than P4's. I have intel pro camera that are really good, but would like to upgrade and I can't tell from the reviews if this Microsoft camera would be a good replacement.I gave a 3 rating because I had to rate to post.. 3 in midway.Thank you

Великолепно

I really enjoyed this product and the fact that its simple to use!! It clips nicely onto my laptop or I can take it off, it comes with a little protective case, and the lens slides in to keep it unexposed when you're not using. I really like it and all its features as well.

I have used several webcams in the past and got this one coz i read the reviews and all were 5 stars. But the camera is pretty ok. Its not bad but its not excellent either..any normal low range cam is as good as this one...no use spending so much on this one...

I wish people would refrain from lying; some people will do anything to defame Microsoft, a genuine, all-American company. The LifeCam VX-6000 installs easily, does not install secret non-essential software like Creative and Logitech installers do, and works beautifully with various IM clients. I tested it with different video chat programs and didn't enconter any problems on my two WinXP computers. I mainly use it with the new Windows Live Messenger (formerly known as MSN Messenger) and the video and audio quality are just superb. But I do think this might be a little too much if all you do is casual video chats. The cheaper VX-3000 is probably a better buy for most people. If you want a real digital camera, get a real one from Canon, Casio, Fuji, Nikon, Panasonic, Sony, etc. But if you do some video conferencing for business, the VX-6000 is a good investment.

Image is good but microphone has a jackhammer noise, rendering it useless. I only installed it after a few months after purchase or else would have returned it immediately.

Великолепно

I bought this webcam to talk to my boyfriend who is in Iraq. The resolution is much better than other webcams (2.0 megapixel) and the talk function is really easy. Install CD worked fine and I used it with Yahoo messenger. This will save me a TON of money in phone cards.

Very compact, but with great resolution both with respect to audio and video. The installation, using bundled software drivers and MSFT Live Messenger, was a snap (easier than my parallel experience with Logitech QuckCam Communicate STX). The camera works equally well with SightSpeed, the other communications software package that I have used the camera with. Comes in a handy, very compact carrying case. Very high Cool Factor to the package and performance.

Lousy documentation...Turns off, on etc. type stuff.Wasted money....I will try using it with my nextcomputer about a year from nowwith Vista and see if that makesit work better.AFTER the bugs are out of Vista :)Lousy documentation

I am geographically separated from my wife and we communicate daily over IM and webcam. We got tired of Logitech's low quality image and USB 1.0 compatibility. I did some research and matched a USB 2.0 cam with a price limit and bought 2 Microsoft LifeCams. There is so much more detail with these cams than the cheaper Logitech's versions. I am completely satisfied with this product and I would recommend it to people who use webcams on a daily basis.

Some other reviews here had similar problems to mine. Please don't think we are bad mouthing Microsoft. The problems are ligit. Seems to only be an issue if you have other USB devices (like most of us). Bottom line the camera would not work. If you check device manager and have an error 19, then that is the same as me. MS's website is no help. A Google search and 8 hours later I got it to work, but I bought this beacuse I thought MS would at least have the inside track on software issues. By the way, I dumped my Logitech pro5000 due to software problems too, so it's worse then this Microsoft product. Good luck. If you get it to work, it is a nice camera and works well with Skyp (my primary use of it).

This webcam is so easy to install and use. It connects with Microsoft Messenger and allows us to have real time video and voice communications with our son and daughter-in-law and their brand new twin baby girls while they are stationed with the Air Force in Aviano, Italy. There is no charge for the service after the webcams are installed so it is free phone and video over the computer!

Not having used another webcam, I can offer no comparision. I used the NX-6000 with Yahoo Messenger. The picture was jerky with voice and picture not matching very well. The important thing for me was that it did bring my family members closer to me than voice alone. Many of my family members are on the other side of the country. The NX-6000 was designed for a laptop. If you have a desktop, get another model from Microsoft or Logitech.

My tech-genius son picked this out for his aging 'rents to use to see the grandbabies who live out of state. The picture quality isn't great but good enough and I am happy to see the grandchildren. The product allows us to interact with our grandchildren and they seem to get a kick out of seeing us so if they recognize us then that is the only review I need. The product was very easy to install and that is big plus with computer- challenged grandparents.

THE SOFTWARE DOES NOT WORK WITH THE CAMERA AFTER IT IS INSTALLED.THE THE IMAGE COMES AND GOES WITH INTERFERANCE LINES. EVEN AFTER IF WAS UPGRADED TO THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATES, IT DID NOT WORK. I BOUGHT TWO AND HAD TO RETURN BOTH OF THESE ITEMS.

AFTER INSTALLING THE CAMERA SOFTWARE I NOTICE MY PC WOULD JUST STOP RESPONDING AND WOULD CRASH MSOFFICE. I UNINSTALLED IT AND REINSTALLED IT AND IT WOULD LOCK IT UP OVER AGAIN. AFTER RESEARCHING FURTHER ON THE CAMERA I NOTICE A WEB SITE HAD NEGATIVE REVIEWS WITH IT AND ALSO MS CUSTOMER SERVICE. THAT IS WHY I DECIDED TO RETURN THE ITEM AND GET A REFUND

I purchased this to replace an old Intel cam that I had. The quality of the picture with the new LifeCam VX-6000 is very poor when comparing it too the old Intel. I have tried everything from settings to re-installation with no success. The cam produces a grainey picture that is very poor. This wasn't a cheap product and expected to get an excellent product from Microsoft.

Esta Camara es, hasta ahora, la mejor webcam que he tenido. Tiene magnifico zoom, mejor resoluci?n, y lo mejor de todo viene incluido el microfono, el cual te quita el problema de "otro" aparato mas a conectar para poder realizar tus videos conferencias. El rastreo facial es magnifica, sin necesidad de mover la camara, te consigue y centra en la cuadricula.En una sola palabra es MAGNIFICA.

After reading the reviews here and getting scared I thought "Bugga it, Microsoft will not sell junk, I'll give it a go".I asked in the shop about it and they said 'Install the software before you connect the webcam.', so I followed instructions and found them to be correct. But of course there was a new version of the software to download and that was a minor annoyance of around 40meg (I think).It's an excellent little webcam, sound is clear, video also.[..]Highly recommend by a Windows XP SP2 over worked PC (not me) owner.

Fantastic image definition! It also ataches perfectly to LCD monitors. Its problem is that it does not correct luminosity automatically. So, it looks too dark at night or too shiny during the day. You choose.

If you are considering any other usage for the webcam other than on the top of your laptop, this is probably not for you. The attachment on the back is also a fixed width so it does not clip on or adjust to the laptop for a secure connection.

I'm new to webcams and have found it both easy and enjoyable to use the VX1000. It installed quickly without disruption to my laptop, provides clear images, and decent audio quality. Perhaps users who are more tech minded might prefer something more elaborate, but this works well for me. Good price too.

The MS LifeCam VX-6000 is optimized for Windows Live Messenger (WLM). There were no options in the installation process. No crapware was installed. No special folders were created. All the camera features can be accessed from within WLM. The sound was great from the recipients point of view, even though I was using two desktop speakers. No speaker feedback. The microphone worked even when I walked around the room. No headset is supplied. Why do the other similarly priced webcams touting their builtin microphones also include headsets? I'm about to buy a second one.

Bought a Logitech Fusion and loved the quality of the camera and kids loved the software but had a lot of difficulty with conflicts between the Logitech drivers and my Media Center PC. Then read a number of reviews explaining this problem. Decided to try the Microsoft. Installation was easy but the video is much, much worse than the Fusion. Microsoft claims a true 1.3 MP video (compared to Fusion's 640x480) but it is very noticeably poorer quality than the Logitech. If only I could get Logitech and Media Center to get along.

Dont microsoft ever send their software thru Quality Assurance checking? They asked me to install a windows update (KB something or the other) saying that it prevented the software from running at 100% CPU usage. Lo and behold, it still gets stuck!! Task Manager dutifully reports that it is after all consuming all resources.

This cam will work on some computers and fail on others.The software package is the problem, the actual camera works.The reason I purchased was the resolution, but without being able to change these controls the camera is worthless.The Lifecam software freezes and shows 100% CPU in Task Manager.Camera software works on an older computer from 2001 though? Support admits that there are issues still unknown with this software.

I have used it in multiple operating systems- XP/Home/Professional/Vistaworks perfectly fine,this cam is probably the first one where there is continuous sync between audio and video.

The image is great, the extra bells-and-whistles are cool, the microphone is very sensitive and the noise-cancelling feature really works.BUT... it is not compatible with Windows Vista yet. It is quite frustrating!
