I bought this for a desktop that originally connected to the internet via a hard line. I moved the location of the computer and didn't really want to mess around with opening it up and installing a wifi card.This USB adapter was a two step process to connect: plug it in and run the installation CD (well three if you count entering the wifi access key.)

The item arrived on time & in good shape.I bought this to replace a failing onboard wireless adapter in a Dell Inspiron. The installation (XP) went without any difficulties. The reception has been in the very good and excellent ranges and has been steady - hasn't dropped out in the month I've been using it. The speed has consistently been as advertised and the 150 Mbps has been a refreshing upgrade from the 54 Mbps it replaced.The 3' USB cable and detachable antenna allowed me to find (& use) very distant networks when there was a power outage during the recent unpleasant weather.I don't know if you can beat this for under $12.00!

It met my expectations and more the only down fall is that it only supports USB 2.0 which was not stated in the description. so there for i can not use it on my laptop only my desktop and i don't plan on carrying that on my back everywhere i go.

I am not a "techie", so I was not going to install the USB Adapter right away, I was just going to read the instructions. But it is so easy to install that I did it myself and it only took a few minutes! In less than 15 minutes I was on the internet, via this wireless USB adaptor. It is great! Obviously I haven't used it long enough to encounter any other problems; the point of this review is the ease of installation. If I can do it, anyone can.July 2012Still works great! I haven't had any problems with this adapter. I am able to access the internet quickly. Highly recommend.

I went to the TP-Link website to get the most current driver. I've got Windows 7 64-bit and a reviewer on newegg was correct about your system installing the Atheros driver automatically. Get the driver from the website, download, manually install your adapter driver, and you're golden! Much better signal strength and speed than my $50 piece of trash Cisco adapter and no more signal drops!

Works well. Picked up a good strong signal where my wifi signal finder could not see anything at all. Very Happy with it. I would give it a 5 star if the software was a bit stronger. It took several tries to get it to auto connect at reboots. Since this was a non-technical environment at a school it needed to connect with as little help as possible. Once that was setup it was smooth surfing and could even stream video smoothly.Glenn

Adapter works well after we finally worked out all the bugs. We were having trouble communicating with the router that came with it and called the company. The rep admitted she was in China and it was very difficult to understand her. She finally gave up and emailed us information which had suggested web sites to look for information. After a few hours we were able to identify the problem (security issue with our version of Windows) and fix it. However, someone who communicated well in English should have been able to fix it immediately. Also, instructions must have been written in Chinese and then translated as they were not very well written. However, the adapter is on a PC in an adjacent building (business next to home) and communicates well with the router.

Bought this for my desktop and it works great. Throughput is not as fast as CAT5 but this has been the best aftermarket WIFI I've used. The TP-Link sets about 20ft from the router and gets 4/5 bars according to Windows.

I am using this adapter on Fedora 16, running Fedora from a 4GB USB stick with persistent overlay. The modules for the device were loaded automatically and it works! This adapter brings in many more signals than the wireless built in to the motherboard. I would buy a product from this company again.

I was looking for a Wi-Fi adaptor for a new Onkyo receiver. I read reviews that this one works better than the Onkyo dongle at a far better price. The reviews were right! I got great plug & play connection and fast speed for Rhapsody streaming.

This USB wireless adapter is fantastic! I bought it to replace my old Hawking USB adapter that is several years old, and I can't believe how great it is, especially for the price. It picks up signals that I didn't even know existed. I would definitely recommend this item.

We were having problems getting a wifi signal to an older model laptop in a small house in the back of our property (appx 200 ft away). Tried super routers with a different version of USB adapter but they did not help. Switched to this one and it did the trick.....works great, highly recommend it.

Looks great. Very clean look and antenna doesn't get in the way.Was delivered quickly.Installation was incredibly easy. Plug in USB and install drivers.Good range of about 25 feet through several walls (4/5 bars).I can't rate the technical support because haven't had to use it :)Cheap! Difficult to beat this price for performance.USB wireless adaptors have come a long way. I may argue that thus is better than many pci or pcie cards.The speed is also very fast. I have been more limited by my router speed than the adaptor though I'm confident nobody will actually reach 150mbps. With this though I can usually stream my desktop live at 2-3mpbs while gaming so very adequate.Great for price - probably can't beat this unless it's Black Friday.

Looked at the reviews before I ordered and thought it was worth a try. I wanted to be able to pick up signal from an extra 30 feet from house but all it did was to give me only one extra bar on wireless signal. Wish I had same results as 4 star reviewers.

I highly recommend the TP-Link TL-WN822N-300. Using other USB wireless adapters, my upstairs Dell 8400 computer got weak signals from my router located downstairs at the other end of the house. This device works great. Installed it 5 weeks ago and no problems thus far.

Be sure to follow the instructions on the leaflet in the box.1) Insert TP-Link into usb port (this product is too wide to fit in my overcrowded usb ports on my Sony laptop so I stuck it into my usb hub)2) Ignore the Windows wizard for New Hardware installtion; close it3) Insert the mini-CD into the disk drive - a window will pop up4) Select the driver for your adapter (this one is the TLWN722N - Install Driver&Utility) and wait a few seconds for another window to come up, then hit "Next"5) This part is Important: Choose "Install Driver Only" (2nd item on list) - not the one that comes with utilities; hit "Next"6) Software will install; hit "Finish" when you see that screen pop up.7) On my machine, after the software installation, a prompt for available wifi networks comes up. Choose the one you'll be using and, in few more seconds, you'll see confirmation that the computer is now connected to that network.I'll test this on my XP desktop next! 5 stars for great price and performance.

I purchased this product because of the good reviews i read on it. This product was simple to install as described however I achieved better speeds with my ethernet cable. I positioned this product everywhere in my office and got terrible results. I threw it in the trash can and will never buy from TP-Link again.

I have a Belkin USB wifi adapter that works fine, but has no antennae. This blows that one away. At my University, the internet signal is very weak, and this product was a lifesaver. It allowed me to have a stable connect in a room with a lot of interference and a very low signal connection. And it's affordable! w00t.

I'm using this to add a Windows Vista PC to a network. I installed the driver from the CD, loaded the instructions to connect to the network onto a flash drive using an already connected computer, ran setup from that flash drive, and I'm up and running. COnnection is secure and seamless. Getting 3 or 4 bars from about 100 feet away thru 2 walls. It streams HD video and high-bitrate audio as well as if it was a direct, rather than wireless connection. I recommend getting this adapter instead spending over twice as much at Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Frys, etc. Definitely worth waiting a few days for shipping.

The adapter worked flawlessly the first time I plugged it in and after installing the drivers. The wireless is all the way on the other side of the house and through a floor, and it still received a great signal. I would definitely buy this again for any wireless adapter I needed.

As advertised, it did seem to have better gain than either of my laptop built-in or iPhone/iPad - due to the rather large antennae, I suppose. Only downside from that is you may see so many networks it's hard to find the one you want :)

This is a quality wireless adapter. It was very easy to install. What I particularly liked about this adapter is that it has a removable antenna so you can change it out with more sensitive antenna if needed. For its price it is definitely worth buying.

I'm using this device on a Linux machine. The adapter provides a solid connection over at least short ranges (within my house); I have not tested it over longer distances. Requires a recent distribution (Fedora 14 or Ubuntu 11.04) to get drivers out of the box. They included a USB extender cable; a necessary extra since the module is very wide and might not fit well into the ports on some PCs.

Somehow with my windows 7 64bit, it just doesn't work. Testing this out on speedtest.net gives me 0.56mb/s download speed and 5.6mb/s upload speed. When I use my laptop and tablets to test my speed, it usually gives me 18mb/s of download and 6mb/s of upload speed. I can't do anything with this adapter, can't find any solutions. Updated the drivers and everything and speed is still slow as heck. I ended up returning the product. It was easy to install and looks decent, but it just doesn't work.

Purchased this item in hopes of increasing my range over my Linksys adapter, but it hasn't. It works fine up to about 40 feet, then you lose your connection quite often. I will use it, but it doesn't do what I expected.

I got this to replace the terrible 2WIRE adapter that AT&T gave me. It is working great so far on a XP SP3 machine. I was surprised how many networks I could see after hooking it up. I would say it detected nearly 100 while my macbook can only see about 10. I only have it about 40 feet away from the router but it may be a good adapter for getting something from far away. It's not the smallest thing but that was not important to me and it is designed pretty well. Includes USB extension!

The driver for this adapter doesn't function correctly in Windows 7 x64. The adapter will work fine for a while, but sooner or later you'll get the blue screen of death.When it's working, the adapter provides solid range and speed, easily worth the cost. If you're running an operating system other than Windows 7 x64 this is probably a great deal, but unfortunately, it didn't pan out for me.

This is definitely something I would recommend to someone that is living in an apartment and has to share wifi signal with people in the other rooms -- just as me. This adapter picks up signal greatly, even those across the hall which my former adapter does not, and does not give fake signals (appeared strong on your computer but just can not connect because it's actually VERY weak). This saved my internet life as I'm sitting in my room writing this review. Really loved it.

Wow, how easy is this product. I plugged it into the USB on my old CPU and Windows instantly recognized it.Within seconds the windows wireless network manager was up searching for a network for me to connect to, and a few seconds later I was in.I did notice there was very little drop as you tend to get with wireless devices.

With 7 walls between it and the router on the other side of the house, in the back of a little Mini-ITX box in our music studio, with recording equipment stacked in front of the computer I'm getting 4 of 5 bars from a 15Mbps wireless DSL modem. Install on Win 7 with the included Resource CD was under two minutes. If it keeps working for a long time I will have to remember to buy TP-Link hardware in the future. Best cheap computer accessory I have purchased in years.

I am very impressed with this adapter.I've never tried to use wifi with any of my desktops, but after moving one of my systems to a room that wasn't pre-wired with RJ-45 ports, I began looking for a wifi adapter.My initial instinct was an internal PCI adapter, but I stumbled across this one which turned out to be great luck! It's a lot cheaper than many PCI options too!The two antennas pick up signals incredibly well. When testing it with my laptop, I get 5 bars wherever I go in the house... even outside.Additionally, the capability to position the adapter wherever you like is a huge plus. I'm sure it helps to improve reception and avoid clutter.If you need an wifi adapter, look no further. I highly recommend this product!

It holds a stable connection through four walls. Between computers over wireless is a bit slower than I would prefer, but I think that's more to do with the distance and communicating to the router and then back to another computer. I think plugging one of the computers into the router will drastically improve the speed.Everything else is solid, downloads at the limit of my connection, signal is strong, haven't had any disconnects. The only annoyance is that you need the disk (or download) to install it on W7, it doesn't automatically pick it up on plugin. I don't really care, but it's worth pointing out.

This is set up about 25 feet from my wireless router, with a clear view, and still only averages about 3 bars. If I move it behind a wall, the signal plummets. So it is usable, but not that great. It is measurably slower to use this adapter when compared to a direct connection (e.g., about 8 MB/s wireless vs. 15 MB/s for me typically), and of course you will have periods of high latency and/or signal loss, so you don't want to use it for anything that requires uninterrupted connections (as with most wireless, really)... but if you need wireless this'll do the job adequately.

I recently bought a new house, and decided to keep my TV and HTPC in the basement, while the router is two floors up with my desktop. I use most of my gadgets on the top floor, and so putting the router there made the most sense. The HTPC, however, needed a solution that wasn't too annoying and expensive. This adapter works flawlessly!I connect it with the included usb extension and lay it on top of the case, and it picks up through the two floors at practically full strength. I stream video from my desktop upstairs (not usually, but there are a few things there I like to watch occasionally) with no hiccups, and it stream HD Netflix and Hulu with absolutely not problems. I download through usenet at a constant 1.0mbps, which is just as fast as with my wired connection upstairs.I was ready to take a hit in performance by going the lazy route and doing the wireless thing with my HTPC, but with this adapter, it works just as well as if it were plugged straight into the modem. Great!(FYI, the box is running dual-boot Ubuntu/Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.)

I used this USB adapter in order to reemplace the internal wifi card of a ZOTAG MAG that have very bad performance. I downloaded the last WIN7 driver from TP-LINK homepage and made the installation without problems. The USB adapter began to work very well after restart the PC. The download speed and signal gain are very good. This product is very cheap and solve me a lot of problems.

This was really easy to get set up - even for a technophobe like me. It works like a champ and I'm very happy with it. The only complaint I have is that there is a bright light on the front of it that blinks at all times. This computer is in my bedroom and I have to put a pillow over top of it at night, but it still lights up that area of the room. Mildly annoying, but the functionality makes up for it.
