0/5 Stars for this Product--Lets start from the beginning---this was my build that I used this adapter for:-Antec 600 - MSI P67A-G43-i5-2500k -GSkill Ripjaws 8 Gigs-Hyper Master 212+ - LiteON DVD Drive- PNY GeForce 560 TI - Corsair 750 PSU-Intel 80Gig SSD - 2 x 500gb WD 7200 RPM DrivesInstallation was easy--no problem there.3 Months in, the adapter starts to have some problems. It would constantly fail upon reawakening from sleep mode. 11 months in, the adapter is worthless. Constantly dies mid gaming, mid streaming, and mid browsing.Giving TP-Link one more chance--just ordered a new PCI Wireless Adapter for 32 bucks.Final Words---Avoid this adapter.

Okay product but I get Blue Screens caused by athuw.sys (which is a driver file for Wireless Network Adapters) when using this on my XP machine. Installed the latest and greatest drivers and even reimaged the machine. I installed Win7 and the BSODs went away.

I live in a three level town home. My basement, where my router is located, is unusually deep - 40-50 feet away from my son's bed room where the other computer is located. The old adapter would barely stay connected because of the distance and interferences. I bought this on 07/07/12. It was so easy to install and when I was finished, the signal went from previously ("low to not connected") to ("good, very good or excellent"). My family and I are very happy with this product.

I have another one of this wireless adapter for the past three years, and it has worked flawlessly.So when I needed another wireless adapter, it's a no-brainer to get this again.And once again, it rises up to the challenge of receiving signal through seven layers of brick walls. The other receiver just need to go through one brick wall, but this adapter can still get signal (albeit a weak one) through seven solid brick walls!That's impressive.

This wireless adapter is priced inexpensively and comes nicely packaged. The product itsself has a solid feel to it, and it picks up signals well as others have stated. I bought this for use with an Onkyo receiver and am very happy with it.Only complaint would be its overall size. It is fairly large, where other adapters come in smaller forms.

I bought this for my old desktop and it works like a charm. It's a great adapter, especially for the low price I paid.

Most reviews discussing speed seem to focus mostly on the link speed that the adapter reports, which is meaningless because a 300 Mbps adapter will not transfer data anywhere near 300 Mbps, or on their Internet speed test, which is limited to their Internet speed.I just received this adapter and tested it with IPerf / JPerf, which measures the true throughput regardless of what the link speed says.I have an ASUS RT-N16 router with one computer connected via Ethernet, and a laptop with this TL-WN722N adapter.At less than 10 feet, IPerf results for a 20 Mhz channel:45 Mbps receive, 43 Mbps transmit.With a 40 Mhz channel (this is with no other Wifi channels being occupied):95 Mbps receive, 52 Mbps transmit.If I go down one floor, about 40 feet away (so the signal goes through a floor and a wall), with a 20 Mhz channel I get:43 Mbps receive, 35 Mbps transmit.With the 40 Mhz channel:80 Mbps receive, 49 Mbps transmit.These are very fast speeds for 802.11N, and I am very satisfied with this adapter so far. It is bulkier than others, but the fast speed is far more important in my opinion. You may not be able to use a 40 Mhz channel if you have other routers in your area, but if you can, this adapter screams.

I ordered this for my computer that is in a room diagonally across the span of our house from the router and a real pain to run a Cat 5 cable that I was considering. The computer could previously hook up to the internet with a minimal connection 1 bar or less but still hooked in. With the TP link installed there was an immediate and noticeable improvement in the signal. This was obvious because the old wireless adapter showed "no signal" [still works in that mode however??] and the TP link improved that to "low" signal and 1-2 bars on the speed meter.I like the included cable to be able to locate the adapter away from the back of the computer. Very good feature.

We have used this inexpensive adapter for more than a year to connect our HTPC to our central router in another room about twenty feet away. We have never had any major slowdowns in transferring large video files and can easily stream DVD ISOs (through VLC) and Netflix HD content from our home server without stuttering. Installation was simple and the network connection has always been consistently solid.

The range on this product is fantastic, I just replaced it with a much crappier adapter.It usually gives me five bars from signal strength from about three bedrooms away. It's not just a strong signal, it's a consistent signal - I use it for online gaming and it's great.

I just received my USB wireless adapter from Amazon and am using it now, for the last two days. After reading the ratings here, I expected it to stay connected better. It does give me a 2-3 out 5 bar connection most of the time, but has lost connection with my Verizon wireless router 3 times already, and I have to manually go back in and request a connection again. When it is connected it is fast, but I was hoping it would stay connected much better. I think over two days losing the signal 3 or more times is not that great. It is a pain when you are on email and click send, then find out your email never sent, because you lost the connection. Oh know, it just happened again! I was going to give it a 3 star rating, now I am dropping it to two! I know it is the adapter, because we have several laptops in the house and they never drop the wireless signal. (I have to admit, I am now really considering returning this item, because it just dropped wireless again, for like the 3rd time today.)I wanted to add to be fair, my den where I am using my computer is at the other end of my house from the router, but I just don't get why the signal fluctuates and drops.

I was a little worried about trying this after reading through different extremes in the reviews, but I'm happy with it. I'm using Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion and my signal jumped from absolute zero (no detection of wifi at all) to three bars out of five. Our router is in the basement in a brick closet, because some people in the household don't understand how wifi works. Rather than fight to have the router relocated, this adapter does the trick, and I can browse and stream video comfortably in my room on the second floor. You just pop the CD in, install, plug the adapter into the USB port and you're good to go. For $15 what more do you really want out of it.

Really was looking forward to getting these NICs. Love Amazon's Prime service, and this time I had to use it coming and going. They're going back. Using a tool called inSSIDer on a laptop you can really see what's going on with signal strength in your WLAN in different locations - highly recommend it - best freeware I've ever used. Anyway it clearly showed this "high gain" external NIC wasn't as good as the built-in (Dell with Intel W-NIC). On average the signal strength was 4-6dB lower from each test spot I tried, except in close proximity to the wireless router or access point, where the devices had equal performance. Back to Amazon for them and back to the drawing board for me.

I wanted this so I could send Amazon prime movies and TV shows to my computer in my room. I have a TP-link router also. This works well with Windows 7 also. The price is right! Sometimes a little slow but that may be because I have so many wifi devices running off the same router. That is the only time it slows is when too many things are running on the same router. I am sure the future generation of routers will be for multi-tasking folks with wifi in every room.

Setup instructions are not clear on how to use once installed. Website contains multiple drivers, and it's not clear which one you're supposed to install. Technical phone support is HORRIBLE. First of all, the number disconnects you all the time. Second, I spoke to an entry-level person as well as their supervisor, and both sounded like they were speaking Chinese instead of English (the company is HQed in Hong Kong). I couldn't even get them to take down my e-mail address properly because they didn't know the alphabet well enough. Then they sent me the wrong driver because they put down an 8 instead of 7. haha! It was quite a joke.Finally got it installed on Windows 7. FYI, the new wireless connections will appear in your normal taskbar connection icon UNDERNEATH your normal network card (if you still have it enabled) connections. The most disappointing part of the whole product is that it has mediocre range. Bought this expecting an improvement over my Lenovo built in card. I think the only range improvement I saw resulted from the fact that it was an external device that I could more easily place near a window. Otherwise, no improvement. I'm getting a couple bars from 2 houses down. Not that great in my opinion, especially considering I'm on the third floor where signal should be stronger.My advice: get it if you need a network adapter because it's $13.60 and it's one of the best solutions available right now, but don't pay for fast shipping like I did. Also, don't expect this to be a cure-all because it's not.

As was noted by many reviewers, installation was quick and easy. However, after a few hours we experienced dropped connections, even though signal strength was excellent - all bars "green". We had to sign in with our WEP security code each time; even though the list of available networks showed ours as "connect automatically". Also interesting was the inability of the software to remember which networks (belonging to neighbors) that I did not want to connect to automatically.Finally, we started getting the "blue screen of death" (system crash)- the culprit was the file "athuw.sys" which is the driver for this device. I uninstalled the software and the PC returned to normal - no crashes.Uninstalling the device and reinstalling did not cure the problem. I went to the product website, but the driver was the same version as the one I had originally installed.I next attempted to use the Microsoft wireless network manager instead of TP-Links but experienced the same result - system crash. This device is now on its way back to Amazon for refund.

Great range on this thing. Got this for a 'problem area' in my house.Plugged in to the farthest pc from my router, upstairs at the far end of the house. Behind two doors, a staircase, and pretty close to a large a/c unit. Great signal.A little large for a wireless receiver, but it's well worth it for the reception!

I had been using my neighbor's internet while I sorted out a dispute with my own ISP over rediculous charges, but I could barely get a 2 bar signal with my Compaq CQ56. The built in RaLink wifi card is crap. However, when I got this baby setup, that signal went from struggling for 2 bars, to 3 bars from the same position. With a little tinkering and repositioning, I was easily able to get a full 5 bar signal from my wonderfully generous neighbor (again, whom gave permission). Also, this device doesn't give out false readings like certain adapters I've owned before. With previous adapters, if I had 3 bars or less, I might as well not have even been connected to anything. Not the case with this TP-Link device. I give it a full 5 stars. NOTE: Maybe not the case with all laptop models, but my laptop's power supply connector conflicted with the usb on the right side which was the ideal side to use this adapter. However, the supplied usb extension cable easily fixed this issue AND allowed for further modification of signal reception. Seems these guys thought of everything. Highly reccommend this product.

I bought this is march and called support after the light stopped working. well I couldnt understand a word they were saying and told them as much. they said if you dont understand me call back at least thats what I thought they said. I tried and tried with no success and just gave up and bought a new one but not from this company. I have a warrenty and was not aloud to get it replaced because no one would answer me.

Recently my laptop's internet card stopped functioning correctly (it found networks but wouldn't connect to any of them). I thought maybe the computer was whack so I tried to connect it via wire to the internet; that worked. I knew the wireless card was the problem.Instead of paying $X for a new wireless card for the laptop (the laptop is not gonna last too much longer) I decided to try a wireless USB to connect to the internet, so that I could use it on any device to connect wirelessly.This little guy takes seconds to set up (FYI - it showed up under Wireless Connection 2 on the "Connect or disconnect" thing. I didnt realize it at first and kept trying to connect via "wireless connection" [which is the pre-installed wireless card] and it would not work)This USB adapter gets a better signal than my wireless card and works great!

The router is around 100' away on the second floor and i'm using this in my office downstairs. The gain I get compared to the wireless native in my laptop is only around 1 bar, if that much. At times it'll fluxuate. So instead of 1 bar, I get 2. or sometimes instead of 2 bars, I'll get 3. It helps a little more when I put some Aluminum foil behind and underneath it. For 20 bucks, it's OK i guess. Maybe I was just expecting too much. I was hoping to get a 4 or 5 bar signal. It will improve your signal a little which is better than nothing.

It appears that there may be a compatibility issue with Windows 7, 64 bit as indicated in other reviews. I am not a computer whiz, but I am also not an idiot. After trying to install and uninstall several times, I called tech support. They were very good at trying to help me, but after an hour, I gave up. It was suggested that there is a compatibility issue and it appeared to be working after the tech walked me through manual installation. However, since that time (several hours ago?) it seems to have stopped working again. Too frustrated to spend more time on it at the moment. I gave it 2 stars because tech support is free, seems to care and I could understand him.

This adapter is amazing. The two antenas and the 3 ft cable are such a great fetures.I recently integrate WD TV Live to my home theatre system but my living roon is a little far from E4200 wireless router and there is no un-obstructed line of sight available. I tested at first with TL-WN812N (the one certified by WD) but only get 2 bars and some interruptions when watching Netflix. So, I switched to this one eventhough WD has not confirmed that they are compatible . . . but it worked like a charm. By just placing them right on top of the WD I immediately got 3 bars but after adjusting the anthenna and place it a little further away 2.4GHz signal came up to full strength and no more interruption watching VDO streaming. Loggin-in after turn on WD TV Live is always very quick.NOTE: that green LED did not lit up as it supposed to but hey. . . it works great. Besides, the anthenna is hidden behind the TV so seeing the LED or not is not a big deal :-)

I have been using this WiFi adapter for a while. Connection drops very often when opening links for ordinary web browsing, 80% of the chances connection will drop, even worse while watching online streaming videos. I have tried to update the drivers but it didn't help, it's useless. I am switching to other brands.

The wifi is very strong, and overall the adapter is very high quality - much better than I expected given the price. The plastic and packaging is almost Apple quality. The only odd thing, as others noted, is that if you plug it into a standard USB slot on the back of your motherboard, the antenna faces down. However, with the very nice included extension, I plan to have it on top of my computer, not plugged directly into the back. It is very, very nice, and I woudl recommend it to my friends.

I'm not given to hyperbole, and I tend to be critical, perhaps overly so, in my reviews. But this little USB adapter is impressive on every level, starting with the low price.It arrived quickly, packaged nicely both by Amazon for shipping, and the actual factory box. Easy to understand manual, which you don't really need as this thing is extremely user friendly. Still if you are inclined to read the manual, it is actually useful.It comes with a 3-foot USB extension, to allow for those situations where you can't just plug it right into the USB port, either because of other stuff in the way, or because it limits your reception. You may want to get a longer one, but that they even included this short one is impressive and generous, given the price of the unit.I don't need the extension. I plugged it into the USB port and had it up and running in less than 2 minutes total, including reading the quick start manual and installing the drivers.Performance is outstanding. Great reception, I'm getting 3 bars in a location where I was getting just one bar (weakly) with my old USB network adapter (a name brand one). Good speed. If I needed more, it would be very easy to move the adapter using the extension to a better location and/or a different external antennae, but this works plenty fast and I won't bother.

I never realized how many routers surrounded the house out there! (Say five times rapidly ...)It's a little klutzy sticking out of a net book or laptop, but it makes a difference in what you can pull in and use.I didn't do any formal testing, but I did use five different speed testing sites to compare, "plugged" and "unplugged." This piece either consistently gave me faster average pings,downloads and uploads, or else I experienced a very weird coincidence.For the price it seems like a handy thing to have on the move --- I was able to yank in the elusive Optimum WiFi at a doctor's office where previously there had only been the barest scent of it.The extension cable that comes with it makes the price even better, and let's you park the thing in more advantageous positions.

I was afraid of USB wireless adapter since I bought D-link N150, it was just a nightmare, >10kb/s, can't even surf the web smoothly, I was hesitating when I order this adapter. After I install it, just how amazing it is! totally smooth, download speed approx. 200kb/s, still cannot feed the cable, which is 3mbps, but I guess 15bucks totally worth it. The old one I bought cause me 40 bucks. Get away from D-link and join TP-Link!

This wireless dongle was a lifesaver for me, as my new home does not have ethernet ports installed throughout the house. The speed, while not equivalent to a wired connection (I usually pull 35Mbps on the wireless ass opposed to 50Mbps wired) is quite sufficient. I couldn't ask for more at this great price.

After using a couple different pc cards and routers I was getting frustrated with my inconsistent wireless signal. I was skeptical as to whether this $15 device would really boost my wireless reception. My wireless signal would fluctuate between 2-4 bars due to having my pc stuck under my desk and the router in another a couple rooms away. After a few weeks of use, I stay at 5 bars strong and steady. We will see how it holds up but for $15 can't beat it.

I checked reviews on many low cost adapters and finally bit the bullet with this one. I've had mostly trouble with lync sys wireless cards so I wanted to stay away from them with usb too. This unit works great with my older win 2000 laptop and my old win xp desktop. I'm getting 5 full bars on my wifi and even 4 bars on neighbors that used to be 1 or 2 with my wireless card. Installation was a breeze even with the minidisc. It also came with a cord which is what I always use because most of my usb ports won't fit this and another device side by side.

I went thru a few lousy wireless adapter before I settled with TL-WN722N. I had this product for about 7 months now. My router is about 40 feet away the adapter and the signal goes thru 3 walls before reaching the adapter. This USB adapter have great signal strength and it has never dropped a signal since I bought. Very satisfied with product. Money well spent!

Being an IT professional I've used quite a few wireless products over the years.I bought two of these due to not being able to afford my DSL anymore, and a need to make use of my Apt complexes shaky free wifi.I already have a couple different Ralink based USB adapters and another Atheros based, they weren't cutting the mustard.I chose these for a few reasons, the reviews, the Atheros chipsets for Linux compatibility, and the price.Under Windows 7 x64 SP1 the adapter was detected and the new hardware wizard automatically installed a driver within seconds.Under my Debian Linux install with kernel version 2.6.39 they are supported and function hassle free, they only exception is the driver reports the link rate at 1Mb, however testing reveals the link performs above this so I conclude the link rate is just being miss reported.Performance under both platforms is very solid even with low signal strength and heavy 2.4GHz noise.Just a side note, I've only tested these with wireless G equipment only, as I don't have access to N.Not saying there isn't better equipment out there, but these are the best USB wireless adapters I've used so far.Verdict: Can't go wrong for $13.

Installed the WN822N then the drivers & utilities from the cd, it worked perfectly. I got a speed of 243Mbps on the 2nd floor coming from the router on the 1st floor. The problem starts when from a cold boot, the WN822N would not power up. I have to disconnect & reconnect the usb cable for it to power up again. I never had this problem from my other branded usb adapter. So disappointed, I wasn't expecting to have a problem like this from TP-Link.

I'm not a computer geek so I was looking for something that I could install and use. I wanted to connect my shop computer to the internet via my in house computer. I already had a wireless antenna hooked to my computer that my daughter install so she could use her laptop when ever she visited. The TP-Link Wi-Fi USB adapter done the trick and I now have internet on the computer in my shop. Only down side I see is I wish I would have gotten one that allowed more connection speed.

A friend gave me an old Dell Dimension 3000 series desktop that I wanted to turn into a Linux machine. Only place to put it is in a room away from my router, necessitating wireless connection. Installed Ubuntu 12.04 then plugged in this device into USB. It was plug & play with this OS. Simply selected the network and entered key and had instant, fast, trouble-free internet connection. Didn't need installation disk or to hunt for drivers. It just worked. Couldn't be happier.
