I've had it for a week, and the signal strength and speed are great. BUT... only when it is connected. And, it disconnects ALL THE TIME. I literally have to re-enter the password and re-connect. Today, I'm having to do so every 10-15 minutes. I've tried different USB ports, rebooted my modem and router, all the basic stuff. No dice. Buy something else that will actually hold the connection.

I like to use my laptop in a room where my wifi signal is weak and I have difficulty maintaining a connection. While searching Amazon for a repeater type unit I came across this product and decided to give it a try. Set up was quick and easy and I immediately noticed an improvement in signal strength. The only problem I encountered was that the adapter unit blocked the adjacent USB port on my computer. I connected the adapter to the included 3' USB cable and the computer end of the cable now left plenty of room for access to the other port. Playing with the location of the adapter (now at the end of the cable) I saw my signal strength go from 58% to 64% and then up to 76% depending on where I placed the adapter.My connectivity issue is now solved, and all for a super reasonable price. I highly recommend the TP-Link.

I have been using this adapter for one and half years. I had probably less than 5 times of connection issues and re-plugin the adapter solved the problem. The speed is satisfactory, I can get 46Mbps (from speedtest.com, likely maxed out the bandwidth I got from ISP) with n connection to a router behind a wall. In such non-ideal situation, I got a upload speed of 20Mbps for copying file in local network. It looks quite nice although it takes some space.

I added it to an old desktop XP (that has no wifi) so I could have video streaming upstairs over my network. I just set it up today and it works perfectly. It was really easy to set up and I was surprised at the speed I'm getting. I can't say yet how long it will last but for the small investment it is a great product.

Not sure why I thought this was 5ghz but in case you do- let me assure you- it's not. It is however relatively sturdy (neither of it's little ears have broken off yet) and lets you get both some extra speed and range out of your WIFI connection. It's great at Airports for instance helping you get 1.4 instead of the normal .9 kbit/sec of data:). It uses a normal USB cord so that's great in case you tend to lose such things and of course it's good value.

After the great reviews about this adapter I bought it for my new Onkyo TX-NR 415 receiver. But when I plug it into any of the USB ports I get nothing. It doesn't do anything. Doesn't light up and the receiver doesn't recognize it. Is there something else I'm supposed to do? EVeryone else's seemed to power up. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I am sending the signal almost 70 ft across my home, through 5 walls and by the time it reaches the other end where my devices are I have lost at least 2 and sometimes 3 bars on my signal strength... using the High Gain USB Adapter I have all five bars at my receiver... I stream music now with no hesitation or break up... love it and it was plug and play....be sure to buy one when you buy your receiver... well worth the money....

Bought this for my Raspberry Pi and it works like a charm. No need for drivers or anything. Although it's not dual band, it get great reception and was easy to set up. Added value in the included USB extension. The only thing that would have made this better would have been a stand, but I had some Logitech extenders laying around that I used to prop it up on my desk.

The product is well packaged, and comes with adequate documentation. I am using this on a Onkyo receiver and it recognized the adapter and connected to my network with no issues. The receiver did not recognized two other USB adapters I had used on older computers. Signal strength is very good and so far it has not dropped any connections. Price was a factor in buying this over the Onkyo brand as it was 2/3 the price. Build quality looks good. It has a small antenna, and a long USB cable so you can position it about 12=18 inches from the equipment it would be used with. Makes it a little easier to either hide it, put it out of the way or position it to have a stronger signal if your router is a good distance away.Should work great with other equipment, but my use has been limited.

easy to set up...yet it failed initially. they have 24h support, which was excellent. I needed different driver for my win7 pro computer, and they immediately got me to download the correct driver. once I had it, it worked perfectly. I am on 3rd story and the g router on the 1st floor. excellent connection and no drops. so far so good!

Now like others I knew from the start that this thing would not get the 150mbps but I did not buy it for that anyway. I needed something that would give me a better signal and this did the trick. I cannot believe they can even sell it this cheap. As a computer tech I used the backdoor method of installing the drivers so I did not have to use the third party wifi software and my computer never has any problems. Now it's not as good as my 1000mw wifi unit that I use at home but then I did not expect it too. But even then where my netbook would only get one bar I now get 4. No dropped wifi signals anymore when I'm at work or out and about. Just buy it and have fun....

I found it works very well with my TP Link Wireless Router. I never get any drops at all. Plugged it in, use the provided CD to install driver and driver utility. Driver Utility is very limited I find, so you may option only to download the latest driver alone. In comparison to other adapters that I have used, it seems that if you stay with the same manufacturer of your router and adapter your chances of poor performance is minimized and performance is better. Very happy with how its been working.

Great Linux Support for the Atheros Drivers. However, the problem is that the adapter hangs up and locks up when there is a lot of network traffic for example downloading torrents etc.Other then having to unplug and replug the adapter to get it working again whenever it hangs everything else is superb.

I use this to connect a desktop computer in another room with the home wifi network. For that purpose it seems to be working well. After the initial setup, I haven't had to do anything special. However the antenna seems to be weakly attached to the rest of the unit and it falls off on a regular basis -- you can push it back on and it seems to work ok, but it is a hassle. It also comes with a USB cord, so that you don't need to plug it into the (typically) narrow / congested space behind your computer. Overall, it is a good buy except for the antenna issue.

I share a High-Speed connection with my neighbor through a D-Link 150 wireless N-band router. His router is in his house next door to mine and at the closest point outside wall to outside wall our houses are 93 feet apart. His router is in the middle of his house. I have a Dell laptop that I use to connect with the network. In most of the areas of my house (single story 1640 sq ft) I would get a signal of 1 bar and sometimes two. We live next to a 500,000 volt transmission line and reception was always spotty. I saw this adapter and decided to give it a shot. It arrived over night as promised and installation was a snap. I now have no less than 3 bars in the farthest corner of the house away from the router and sometimes 5 everywhere else. I attached it to the lid of my laptop with adhesive backed Velcro. You cannot beat this little guy for the price and I would highly recommend it to anybody with a weak signal that needs a boost.

I'm not one to complain about a bad order, in fact iv'e gotten bad products before but I'm not very argumentative, but iv'e gotten to products from TP-Link and they have both just been god awful, this one does "work" it droped my ping down a few and my conection improved, but not to what it promised, and though that is partially to blame for my cruddy modem it's not the real issue, see this product has a problem were when used your internet browser will start de-selecting it's self, this is very similar to a malware i had once, I simply thought i had that same malware, but I tried for days before just factory reseting my computer, and it wasnt untill i reinstalled this product that the problem came back, so im not saying this is a universal issue with this product, it may just be mine, but regardless buyers beware and you can take that for what its worth.

Gets great reception. I use it 4 rooms away from the router and play an online game with it. No signal drops its easy to install and the packaged software did all the set-up it needed. I compared it to more expensive ones at a name brand store (you know the one with the yellow price tag) and it has the same features and does the same job as the $40 ones.

This always works for me with good signal and bandwidth through a few walls about 30 feet from the wireless router. And it was a great price. Every once in a while it won't wake up when I wake the PC up from sleep, but I think thats my own PC's fault because I have it set up to disable ports when not on, but they are supposed to detect items when it comes back up; just unplug and plug back in and it works.

I need a wireless adaptor for my desktop since the one that I have is a Trendnet brand and it doens't support Windows 7. I have a desktop with AMD CPU and a laptop with Intel CPU. Both have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I bought 822N first, and after failed to install it, I bought 722N since I thought one is not working the other may work. I have installed all patches for both desktop and laptop to make sure any known issue fixes for Win 7 have been installed. Following the directions in the quick guide, I inserted the adaptor first, then inserted the CD, did whatever as prompted to install the driver, but the adaptor could not find any wireless network at my home or in my community. I also tried to let Windows Update find driver, or install the driver first and insert the adaptor secondly, or manually point to the driver file from the device property, but no luck. I also tried to download the driver from TP-Link website since normally the website has the latest driver. I also tried to turn off my firewall just in case. I tried to uninstall and re-install driver to make sure a clean version doesn't mess up. I also tried to install it on my laptop, because sometimes one computer has problem, the other may not, but it turns out to be the same issue. I have tried as many measures as I can think of. But the driver just couldn't make this adaptor work, it just flashes with a green light at a frequency of one flash per second. For now I can conclude that the driver for this adaptor just doesn't work for Windows 7 64-bit. For those users with a Windows 7 64-bit OS, be cautious, you may need to find something else.I purchased this product after reading so many positive reviews but most reviews just lack of information on what their system is. This adaptor is made in good quality and it may work very well for other systems, but it is apparently not compatible with Windows 7 64-bit as it is said. My bad experience is just waste of time and full of frustration.

Bought this for my net enabled Onkyo HT-RC460 receiver. I have heard of poor connection with the Onkyo adaptor. I decided to go with this since it has the same chip set and comes with a usb extension. Plugged it in, set up a few parameters and had instant connection. My wireless router is upstairs and through several walls and this connects very well. I am able to both stream my music from my iPad / computers and stream movies from the Internet. It works and I am happy.

reliable connection indoors through several walls. The external antenna must be the reason. I don't think I'm really stressing it's capabilities. Only drawback is the green activity LED is a bit bright if you run the thing in your bedroom at night. The flashing can be a bit disturbing when your trying to sleep.

I purchased one of these to install onto a Windows 7 media server computer I had built. I had an old external WIFI adapter of a different brand but there exist no drivers for Windows 7 so I purchased this one. This one is compatible with Windows 7, Vista, XP and Windows 2000 in both 32 bit and 64 bit computers.Since I wanted to stream movies and other large volume files I wanted speed and I was attracted to the spec of "up to 300 Mbps wireless data rate". The installation was a breeze. In 2 minutes you plug in one USB cable, install the software and your computer looks for local WIFI networks and you select yours and type in your password and you are done. I consistently get data transfer rates of 130+ Mbps and it is fast. I have a WIFI connection that is indicating max strength and I have had no problems with the device in 6 months. It is worth the money and its performance exceeds other higher cost items that are also harder to install.Some features I also liked were:-The USB cable is 1.5 meters (almost 5 feet long) so you can set the device on your computer desk and not have to go find a longer cable. Locating it up a little higher can help improve your signal connection and improve the speed of your WIFI. I hate buying USB devices with 2 or 3 foot long cables that can't even reach a table top.-It supports WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK high security systems and Wireless MAC Filtering to keep hackers off of your network.-Dual antennas with 3 dBi gain each to help get a strong WIFI signal.-Two year warranty.-Green light on the device indicates transmit and receive operation.-Having an external device that I could install in minutes without having to disassemble the computer case and look for an open adapter slot. The USB installation is the easiest.-The installation software works great and it is easy to see all of the networks in your area.

I have a 150 mbps connection at home through FiOS, and use the Verizon-supplied router / wifi access point. Over Wifi, my Macbook Pro can pull about 80 mbps. With this device plugged into a Windows 8 desktop, about 20 feet away from the router with a clear line of sight, it pulls only about 35-40 mbps.This is more than I need for *most* things, and I didn't expect to get 150mbps, but getting only 40 is pretty disappointing.

The blinking green light can get pretty annoying, but luckily you can turn it around thanks to long cord. Also nice for mounting high and flat on wall with a couple of nails since the "ears" can be placed in line with the rest of the body. That said, it takes a lot more space than a little USB jobber. Usually get 5 bars from router 30 ft away and thru 2 walls.

Just got this TPLink WN722 to replace an Airlink 150 Ultra Mini, which I returned to Amazon since it never performed well (only got 3-4 bars, just 10 feet from router, and it ran slow).The WN722 installed in less than 2 min, and it's giving me 5 bars most of the time even from a distance. Signal quality seems excellent, and wireless surfing on my old HP laptop is once again very fast: 25mb down/3.5mb up. Definitely glad I bought it.

I have Windows 7 64 bit. Initially I had problems getting the driver to install for this device; the installer would become unresponsive and then I would get a BSOD (Blue screen of death). Plugging it into a usb 2.0 port solved my problem. It works very well now. It hasn't dropped the signal, as some other have noticed.

Moved into a rental place where my modem/router had to stay downstairs so I decided to give this adapter a try. After bridging my netbook to my desktop to get a temporary internet connection having only 2 bars it was looking rough. Going from that to the tp link 4 bars with a great connection/transfer speed I can game a stream hd no problems.

To my delight, this really did work plug and play on my Onkyo TX8050 receiver. I'd already set up the network connection when I tried out the Onkyo UWF-1, so nothing else was required. This works so much better than the Onkyo dongle! No buffering or dropped connections. With the Onkyo, the receiver was buffering at least every few minutes, despite the fact that my router is only about 30 feet away.It remains to be seen if the cats can refrain from playing with it...

I bough this to replace an old linksys adapter that sometimes dropped the transfer from 48 to 12 mb/sec. With this I have now 130 mb/sec. I just connected to an usb and windows 7 installed the drivers automatically. I have been using it for a week and no problems do far. I will update if I experience any problem.

I have been using the TP-Link for about three months. Initially it worked well. Installation was easy and my connection improved by about 50% - from 2 to 3 bars. Based on the large number of 5 star reviews, I was expecting a more significant improvement, but at the price it was acceptable and I would have given it 4 stars. After about two months it began to drop the connection for no apparent reason. At first it was only an annoyance that I did not connect with the adapter. Over the next month it became progressively worse. Yesterday the adapter failed completely.

I bought this to replace an older remote USB G adapter. The installation software with my Windows 7 machine went without a hitch and I was up and running in minutes. I'm totally happy with the much farther range this adapter gives me and the speed is superb. I'm using this on a computer located on the first floor and my router is located upstairs on the second floor. Highly recommended product.

Ok so I wrote a pretty bad review earlier.... After some thinking about it and walking away I found the solution. And no I will not put the problem in writing concerting it was an amateurish mistake. Now it is fixed and so far working, just any Windows 8 users be careful you will need to download the drivers from the website and not the disk included but they do have a beta driver. Also the installation was pretty easy and the instruction were clear (The parts I read at least).

It does exactly what it says it does it connects you to a wireless network via USB port. Making my ancient desktop running XP useful again as I was unwilling to run cable to its new home. I would not place this in a bedroom unless you shutdown your machine at night as the connected light is green and bringt and flashes

after installation and input the security password, it got the wireless signal right away. so far, so good but also found out there are still rooms to improve this product:1) the usb plug-in on the unit should be relocated to the back of the antennas, the green light should be remained at the same front. the design of the usb plug-in place is with poor logic. the location where to put the antenna usually mean that should be the back of an unit, and all the electronic devices' power line are usually in the back of the unit, but this device's power in is located in front, so once you plug in the usb, the front would become the rear while the antenna side would become the front. but if you have to see and check if the signal receiving green light is periodically flashing to confirm it still works, you just can't put the plug-in in the front. that is a kinda stupid arrangement since you have to twist the whole usb cable in a curvy way to see the light. but if you place the plug-in in the back base in between the two antenna, you won't have such awkward position. this is absolutely a moronic design.2) making the whole unit in white is not a good choice, because this unit usually would be put somewhere expose to a lot of static dust, the white color might faded into an ugly yellowish shade after a certain period of time. so maybe in black or silver grey would be nicer.3) the light could also be in electronic blue, the faded yellowish green just looks so outdated once lights upall in all, this would be a much prettier and more futuristic unit if the plug-in location, the colors of the unit itself and the the signal light could be more logic.don't know if it'd be last in a permanent working condition. will add the info later if something bad happens; you never know.

The idea behind it is good, but I can't get it to connect. I follow the instruction manual, but at stage 8 get a different connection to a different unit which does not work. I have called tech support 3 times, each time being told there is no tech available so call back later.Not the way I like things to be, and certainly not a good service

Awesome usb antenna. This thing just works and it works great. Its strong and picks up signal from even my neighbors...I just see it come up on available networks, so I can tell its more powerful than my phone or my laptop. I have installed a dozen of these for clients and they just work.This product comes with a mini cd which is a pain in the butt to get into vertical standing cd drives. This is rarely the case, but I wish they spent the 2 cents to use a full sized software cd since you need it to get the drivers since your computer will have no internet when it arrives.

Worked with no issues in Windows 7: I chose to use the built-in Windows connection manager.To my surprise, it showed up with zero configuration when I booted on an Ubuntu 12.04LTS Live CD. Awesome!The signal is plenty strong and I seem to be limited in speed by my older router. The movable antenna helps get around the fact that its a little awkward sticking out the back of my desktop. A USB extension cable was included, and the antenna is replaceable, so you have plenty of options.
