- I know some people complain about getting constantly dropped and reconnecting and having slow data rates, but what comes down to it is just how far away you are from your router and what type of walls you have in between in it. My router is on the 1st floor and my computer is on the second floor opposite side of the 1600 sq ft house. I have no problem getting connected and maintaining good data rates. The only thing to watch out for is the USB stick does ... stick out pretty far (no pun intended) and the antenna is larger than it seems. But again it needs to be so don't worry unless you plan on hooking this up in a pantry cupboard or something.Pros - good stable connection. - no drops in the middle of anythingCons - It's wireless so not as fast as a hard cable connection, but there's no wires involved so it's a negligible con.

I bought this one to replace the TL-WN721NC and it was a very nice upgrade. The TL-WN822N range is broader and it wont stop working when using it heavily. The software though isn't good, it gave me problems when gaming (it would steal the focus of windows), you should install only the drives.

Plenty of good reviews here so here is my 2 short cents.This item works great. If you're using Windows Vista or higher, don't even bother with the included wireless manager. Windows built in manager is much easier to use.I've bought 3 of these and they are great for the price. You can always put a larger antenna on it if you want better signal (that's a bonus).And for those who are wondering - it works fine with Windows 8 Release Preview 64bit (with the included driver on the mini cd.)A hint - install the driver before plugging in the device. All will be well.Good luck and if you purchase this - I hope you like it as much I do mine.

I purchased this adapter, and since the HP tower we purchased does not have an on-board wireless adapter and does not have any adapter slots. As a USB device, I plugged it in, Windows 8 immediately recognized the adapter, loaded the drivers, and it has been working flawlessly since.

Installed it on my Onkyo tx nr515. Very easy to setup. Even though my router is very close to my receiver, it receives about 61% signal. Though I've had no problem in streaming music(maybe just once), but I would expect the signal strength to be 100%. It good product and definitely worth the price. I would strongly recommend this product.

eager to buy item cuz of the good reviews and twin adjustable antennas, easily installed on windows 8 OS but died after only 2 days, resetted internal wifi adapter of laptop but to no avail and OS unable to recognized it, poor worksmanship.

My internet connection was bad because my neighbour gave me permission to use wifi but the network was fluctuanting and one my frine came to my house who has already in use of this product. I bought this product to connect to my Onkyo TX-NR3009 receiver since the one available from Onkyo doesn't get such great reviews. This product is totally compatible with the receiver and the reception in my living room, which is notorious for bad wi-fi signals, is great. Don't hesitate to purchase if you have a compatible Onkyo receiver and have the need for a wi-fi connection.

It is cheap and effective. Each person will review this based on their own router. I have two of these. Both of them work wonderfully with my setup, you should not have a problem. In my conditions, it is only a floor from the router, in a wood building construction.The brand may not be big, but I have their router as well and they make good quality stuff.

This product COULD be great if it worked with any sort of consistency. The connection drops off 2-3 times an hour, so it is essentially useless. I have taken to plugging it in exclusively when I need to download large files (and praying that the connection lasts through the download) and otherwise using the on-board wi-fi.

This review is not meant to be all inclusive but we have cable with 10Mbps down and 1.5Up data rates.. I moved the wireless TP-Link TL-WR841ND wireless router from the upstairs computer room and just patched the ethernet cable that went to the downstairs office, where most of the equipment resides, to the output of the cable modem and then plugged the downstairs cable into the wireless router. This left the upstairs computer room without a direct wired connection to the internet.Enter the TP-Link TL-WN822N 300 Mbps high gain USB wireless adapter. I just followed the quick setup instructions and in about 10 minutes the computer upstairs was talking very rapidly to the downstairs 300Mbps wireless router at a 200+Mbps rate. All the material we streamed with the previous setup we could do viaq this new wireless link. This included Hulu, Youtube and Netflix content that displayed without pause or delays. We can simultainously wireless stream the TV computer, the upstairs computer and still have enough bandwidth to get email and other essentials to the 4 computers online.All the above is good. But the bad news is that we must reboot the WN822N a couple times a weeks and this is a real pain. The TL-WR841ND has been bullet proof and did not require rebooting in months.p-Link

I installed this on my son's PC, playing games at least 5 hours + straight during Saturdays and school vacation time. Signal is consistently strong and stays connected. The TP lInk with external antennas definitely works better than the more expensive Cisco USB adapter that I purchased before.

I gave my MIL a new desktop computer to replace her aging computer this past Christmas. She decided she wanted to move her old one up to her sewing room so I needed to get her internet access up there. I purchased a Medialink - Wireless N Router - 802.11n - 150 Mbps - 2.4 Ghz - NEW Design w/ Internal Antenna to send the signal, but her older desktop (running XP) needed a Wifi adapter to pick it up.After asking some questions in the forums and checking out the reviews I decided on this dual antenna model. The setup was a piece of cake. The directions were easy to understand and it took less then 15 minutes to get her up and running. I had taken along my laptop to test the original wifi signal out, and I was only getting 2 bars from the router that was 2 floors down and about 20 feet over. I was also not picking up any other wifi signals in the area. Once I set this adapter up, her desktop was getting all five bars and was picking up 2 more wifi signals from neighbors who are not that close.I'm very impressed with the reception this inexpensive adapter provides. She is just using it for standard internet access not gaming, so please keep that in mind.

The first few day after it arrived it was working well, playing online games with 50 ping was so great! a week later if i moved the adapter even a little bit the ping would go up to 300, VERY frustrating and now it just flies around 120-190 ping.

At work I use a TL-WN722N from the same company and I thought this would be a nice upgrade when I went wireless at home.When I noticed Netflix was buffering often, I did a speed test and was shocked at the slow speed. I temporarily ran a long CAT-6 cable to my system and it was as fast as it should be. I then borrowed my stick from work and did some comparison testing.Even though this is supposed to be faster my actual download speeds are slower (5-12Mbs). When compared to what I get (24-26Mbs)from the TL-WN722N. My max is supposed to top out around 18Mbs sustained. I ran multiple speed tests with each card alternating them so the tests were within 20 seconds of each other. The number of bars were even better on the TL-WN722N.I checked for drivers and firmware updated and I'm as up to date as you can get. My TL-WN822N is version 1.1.

Windows 7, easy instalation. Works very good as far as the signal strength is concerned. Has only one issue - when the computer boots up the connection doesn't work. I have to manually disconnect and reconnect. After that works well.

I had hoped that this little device would amp my signal enough that I could move more than three feet from my West facing wall. It did not do this. In fact, it did nothing at all. As far as purchases go, all I seem to have bought is a fancy trinket for my laptop to wear around as I search vainly for a signal. Disappointment.

My wife prefers wifi on her computer, I don't know why, it doesn't move. I originally bought her the big name one that then cost $85-, now I see it for $29.99 but it isn't worth it, it's slower than stated and it was a hassle to get it going when she'd knock it loose or get a virus. I bought this and a more recognized but slower device and there's no doubt this one is completely what they say it is, her rig is on the floor 60ft away from the router (Airport Extreme 802.11N (5TH GEN)) and there is no loss of signal and no loss of speed. When reading some of the reviews I saw some people had trouble with setup but I didn't, I just plugged it in, ran the mini-cd and it worked, asked my network name and password and I haven't heard a single complaint about it since I set it up. If I had to set up wifi for anyone else, I would definitely use this product again, it really does kick butt!

Well, I'll first explain the only reason I gave this 3 stars rather than 5. The item is advertised as able to give "x4 range" from your wireless router. I haven't got a whole lot of time to use it, but I did install it and test it, it gave me +.5 range maybe twice range, but definitely not x4.Pros: Seems to be reliably built, plastics not cheep feeling or thin.USB connection seems sturdy as well, no play *dont you hate it when the USB disconnects from an item*, no worries there.Decent signal.Cons: Rather large in size for the range it produces, I'd guess that other USB adapters of smaller size would produce the same results.Doesn't give the x4 range as advertised.still a great product tho. For me personally I didn't absolutely need the x4 range, it does do what I NEED it to, just not what I WANT it to.

Ships really fast, got it in only one day. It's not a plug-in-and-use type of adapter, but rather needs driver installation from CD-ROM, which could be a little pain for ultrathin/netbooks (they usually have strong built-in wifi though). Anyway it's not hard to get it working. It didn't surprise me when I only get 6Mbps out of a 24Mbps network since it's only $15 and basically that's what you get for this price. The real problem is that it makes my computer freeze frequently, especially in 'bursts' such as opening an high bandwidth HD video or initiating downloads. Gladly modern computers have overheat protection so the freezes didn't damage other hardwares. I have to return it and try something more expensive.P.S. There's really no reason to use this adapter to 'boost' a laptop since the whole screen bezel acts as the antenna so it receives much stronger signal. You may need it on a PC when the router is out of reach of ethernet cables.

The speed this thing advertises should have been plenty for streaming video on my Media PC. But when using it, internet video would often be choppy. It was only about 15 feet away from my router and my wife's laptop has excellent wireless speed. The only thing I could think of, if not this adapter, is that there was a speed issue with the USB ports on this particular PC. I ended up returning it because as soon as I plugged my ethernet cable back in, video streaming was perfect. In the end, I rebuilt a new (much higher quality) Media PC and I'm going to buy a PCI wireless card.

Works just as good even worse as my laptop WiFi. I was hoping on getting a stronger single from my neighbors. Installed every thing I even tried readjusting the wires and gotten a extension wire for it. No use because once you get a longer wire you will need more power to power it and your laptop USB ports only put out so much, so it didn't work.

This is the second one of these I've bought. Got one for my mothers house a long time ago and it worked well. Recently tried one for my house. I have trouble with wifi in my house. I had a PCI wireless card in an older computer and had poor reception. In a new build I skipped the card and tried one of these on a long USB extender. I get great reception. Works perfectly. Well packed, shipped quickly. Good purchase.

Used it for a couple of months now with no major issues until last month. The device would not power on coming out of sleep. Now it seems to disconnect even when the computer is in use. Had to replug it in every time for it to work. Suspecting it has a loose USB connection.

We like this product because it receives the wireless signal very well, no matter where we are in the house. Stock wireless cards in our laptops just don't pull the signal in nearly as well. I like that this one has a cord so it can be positioned however it needs to be to get the best signal, while being able to sit comfortably with your machine.
