We needed to get a better signal for our computer that was set up across the house from the router and in the basement. Our old adapter (Medialink - Wireless N USB Adapter - 802.11n - 150Mbps - 2.4ghz - Windows 2000 / 2003 / XP 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Vista 32-Bit and 64-Bit / Windows 7 32-Bit and 64-Bit Compatible) wasn't getting a consistent signal from this distance, especially for streaming video. This adapter was a quick and easy setup and we get a much stronger signal. We have had no problems since.

This item arrived literally two days after I ordered it. They must have flown it to me in their own private jet! Item arrived as advertised and in perfect working order (New). I had one of these TP-Link USB wireless adapters previously and it performed flawlessly for me, so I knew it was a good and reliable adapter. I passed my previous adapter on to someone else when I built them a new computer, so that's why I ordered another one for myself. This vendor impressed me with the speedy shipping and the price was five dollars cheaper than the one I had previously owned and that adapter was about a year old. Good stuff all the way around on this transaction. I would/will buy from this vendor again!!

The TL-WN722N works great under Windows 7 SP1 32-bit for me. Haven't tried it on another OS so far but plenty of other reviewers have. I've dealt with other USB wireless devices in the past on Linux, Windows XP and Vista for years, so I know they don't always play nicely, however in this case no problems.The item came well packaged and seems pretty sturdily built, though I don't plan to drag it around with a laptop, this will just be attached to my desktop via the USB extension cable to get better signal.If you are connected to the internet by other means already, don't bother with the driver CD, just plug in the USB and let Windows install the drivers automatically via Windows Update. Literally 5 minutes for the whole install - opening the package, plug in the USB stick, Windows found and installed the drivers, connected to my wifi (WPA2 on Apple Airport) I unplugged the wired LAN and I was online over wifi, no worries.With the usb extension cable and the item velcro'd to the top of my computer tower I'm picking up access points from a block away that I can't see on any of my laptops, and the network speed to my router easily maxes out my 30mbit internet connection.Downloaded a couple of 600MB ISOs and the connection held smooth, fast and stable. Streaming Netflix also comes in high quality with no glitches, so for qualitative purposes things seem pretty stable as those are usually the sort of things where I see cheaper adapters start to flake.Note - I'm connecting to an Apple Airport router from my Windows 7 machine, which works fine, as expected.I've tested plugging and unplugging the USB a few times while the machine was on, and so far things reconnect fine. Also put the machine to sleep a couple of times and it wakes up properly and reconnects to the wifi, so at this point things I am happy.

The transmission range for my laptop has now increased to about 30 to 40 feet. Previously, I could not move beyond about 20 feet or so, before dropouts would occur. The external antenna surely helps in increasing the range. Now I get about 3 to 4 bars.

This little thing is amazing ! I have been using it for a year now and I love it !The best is that I have free internet thanks to it because it gets signals that are from the coffee shops next to my place ! :DOtherwise it is also useful on older computers that cannot detect internet anymore or it helps to have a better signal (from 2 bars to 4 or 5).

I've had this product since about November 2010, I didn't really use it much until the last month or two, and now no matter what I do it won't stay connected for more than 5-10 minutes. Spend the money and get the name brand version from Microsoft. Trust me, you'll be happy you spent it over buying this piece of junk!!

First of I took off one star because I had to install the drivers for it (Windows 7) whereas Ubuntu detected it immediately. Also sometime on boot Windows doesn't see it. I have to unplug it and put it back it before it starts working. Otherwise it works fine.

This 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter is perfect for getting that weak signal up to excellent! i have used it everyday since it came to my house through the mail! When i ordered it i thought it would be here in the usual 5-10 business days but it came in 3 days!I recommend this product to anyone who is looking to boost a weak signal, not for anyone who don't have signals trying to find one in there location!

We just switched over to AT&T U-Verse and I needed a temporary solution to wirelessly connect my desktop PC to the router. I had purchased this adapter in advance of the install, however, AT&T gave me a DLink DWA-140 for free so I thought I would give it a try. Setup on the DLink was extremely easy and it worked. However, the reception was extremely poor (~30% signal strength) and so were the connection speeds. I removed this adapter and installed the TP-Link TL-WN722N. I put the TP-Link TL-WN722N in the exact same location as the D-Link DWA 140 and noticed a tremendous difference. The signal strength was now ~80% and the connection speeds where exponentially better.I did not install the client utility, the connection manager built into Windows 7 works fine. Furthermore, the client utility supplied on the disk would not install on Window 7 64 bit. My only recommendation would be to download the latest drivers from the TP-Link website for this adapter before installing it, don't use the ones on the CD. Once downloaded, plug in the adapter then install the drivers, you should be good to go after that.

( hi-gain ? LOL )-- WiFi speed is also below average.-- included WiFi Utility Software CD is a joke .. note : included utility/driver CD is not valid for ' Win7 x64 ' ( download from website for useful WiFi utility )I purchased this for back-up; hope I never have to use.btw: TP-Link WiFi "N" is NO faster than the built-in '11-g' WiFi adapter in a 6 yr. old Dell mini netbook ( ancient, slow )...sooo ....

I saw in an earlier review that someone was using this item in a tent in afghanistan, which is along the same lines of what I'm using this for. I'm in a trailer setup around 50 yards or so from the router. The TP link increased my MBPS from 21 to around 129ish, but I still have some connection issues and having trouble skyping, but the internet is very patchy here and I can't lay complete blame on the product. However...I have to unplug the USB cable and plug it back in to make the antenna work when I restart my computer, and even when it wakes up from sleep mode, kinda cheesy if you ask me. But really, you get what you pay for and for the price, it does what it says it does, just not an amazing item.

Got this to add wireless capabilities to a computer that did not have an available PCI slot. This is an older Dell Optiplex, but works great. Connects immediately to the wifi and I get a reported 300Mbps connection. Easier then running a wire across the house.After installing the drivers provided I uninstalled the wireless manager, it got in the way on start up. Everything is fine.

So my computer is pretty far from the wireless router. It is on the second floor. My router is downstairs, in the opposite corner of the house, which is at least 30 yards away. Many adapters fail to acquire a connection to my expectations. I am getting 4 to 5 bars now! The download speed and upload speed are both very fast. I have no problems browsing the web, playing online games, downloading my music, and streaming my television shows. Initially I had my doubts and bought a usb extension cord but turns out I do not need it at all!5/5 For this product!For those who still don't have a good connection, I would consider upgrading the router or just buying a usb extension cable for the adapter. Otherwise change/upgrade your internet provider.

I was a bit unsure about buying it even after reading extremely positive reviews, because I did not know the brand & was worried about the old adage, "you get what you pay for". But I am so glad I bought it.This little thing is amazing! It does exactly what it promised, boost the signal strength. I was using a Netgear WN111 v2 adapter & hardly ever got a speed higher than 30 Mbps. Before I made the switch, Netgear displayed a speed of 11 mbps. As soon as I installed TP-Link, it jumped up to 150 mbps! The signal strength also went up from "very low" or "low" to "good."The installation, on an older Dell desktop with XP, and using the mini CD which came with the adapter, was a breeze.My only minor complaint is that it seems to audibly "ping" quite often. Not a big issue but, in a quiet environment, you can hear the little ping sounds which may be distracting to some people.03/15/12 Update: Yesterday, the adapter stopped seeing any wireless networks. The little green light still blinks but no networks! All other computers on the network work fine. I have removed and then reinstalled the software but no luck. Borrowed & connected Netgear N adapter to this PC which worked perfectly. So, obviously the TP-Link is the problem. Hence, the rating is down from 5 star to 2 star now.

I purchase, use and deploy Wireless USB adapters for a small company and this little unit is by far the least reliable I have ever used. This guy literally sits 20 feet from the Access point and struggles with signal strength, a real failure for something that advertising includes the words "high gain". It constantly has to be unplugged and plugged back in in order to find the wireless signal. The unit is also unnecessarily large, it is way too big to just stick in the back of your PC's usb port it MUST be plugged into the supplied extension cable and perched up high so it can utterly disappoint you by failing to maintain a decent signal. I replaced it with an old, discontinued unit from another manufacturer with much better results. I have used tiny USB thumb drive sized adapters with internal antennae that work much better than this. I have used TP-Link access points and think they are fine, but stay clear of this, its big and useless.

It took me 30 minutes to figure out why I am only getting 3Mbps out of this: I plugged it into the front usb port on my dell desktop which is supposed to have lower power level than the USB port on the back of the machine, once I plugged it into the right usb port, speed immediately went to 65 Mbps.some motherboard supply lower power levels to the front USB ports compare to the rear USB ports. That is why it is recommended that you connect USB printers, scanners, modems, and some digital cameras to the rear USB ports. On the front USB ports you can connect USB devices that do not need to draw to much power, such as additional "mice", flash drives, and headphones, there. Some digital cameras will allow downloads through the front USB devices, if the camera supplies the power for the connection.

As with any excessively-glowing review, take this with a grain of salt. About 30 hours into using this product I am extremely impressed, especially after reading some of the horror story reviews on Amazon as well as other outlets. I'm running Windows 7 pro, 64-bit. Installed the drivers only from the CD, plugged the unit in... and presto! Speeds are very fast, especially compared to my old PCIe wireless adapter. Our provider-supplied router is pretty good as far as range goes, but about a week ago the unit had to be moved to the basement for reasons you don't really care. Needless to say, my PC would get just about ZERO signal, rendering it useless outside of word processing and some video editing.Now that I'm connected again, I'm taking full advantage of the high-speed internet access and getting 4 out of 5 bars consistently. As others have noted, the green light is pretty pronounced, but I can't really say that I care to much since I've positioned the unit pretty much out of sight. All things considered, for the price you get a hell of a product that has (so far) exceeded my expectations.

This picks up signals very well .... for some reason every once in a while it disconnects for some reason and forgets it's supposed to reconnect automaticly ... i'd say for connection power this is great... otherwise 4 star onlyIt's been a while now and I've uninstalled the device .... 2 reasons ... it boots with the utility right in the middle of your screen everytime and you can minimize it but it's still in your program bar ... 2nd reason is the biggy ... it switches focus while your typing in another window back to the Tp utility all the time .. very hard to type when you look up and your not typing where you thought you were ...

Bought two TP-Link TL-WN822N wireless adapters.One for a Vista desktop and one for an XP desktop. Both were loaded with updateddrivers and utility software. When they worked, they worked great. 130 MBPS data transfer.Web based speed test using Comcast internet yielded on average 38 MBPS download speeds.However, had frequent disconnects and sometimes software said that modem was not attached.Had for one week and returned them.My computer level expertise....Engineer and computer security consultant.

I needed a wifi booster for my mother-in-law that shares our home. Her wifi signal was always very poor, it was painful to download anything. I did have a linksys signal booster but it didn't do much good and it was more expensive. Like others I stumbled on this after a power surge took out my router and booster. Easy to install, inexpensive and signal went from very poor to excellent. Give it try, what to you have to loose that's what I thought and it paid off.

...and happy. I'm looking at becoming a home agent for the company I work for. This means setting up a work station in another room where the work computer will have to plug directly into the router. Since I want to leave my desk top in this room, that means going wireless. I'm on cable and I was apprehensive about pulling the plug on that ethernet cord and maybe slowing down my internet access. This little gem was easy enough to install despite an initial hiccup. Windows didn't give me a chance to install the software from the CD. It automatically installed it as soon as I put the CD in the drive. There was no problem finding my network, it came right up but it wanted me to open a dialogue window and enter the WPS key. Huh? However it was easy enough to go to the CD and click "auto run" and follow the enclosed directions so it was just a matter of pushing the security buttons on the router and adapter (TP link calls it QSS55) and bada bing, I was done. There may be a shade of difference in download speed, or not. It may be that I'm looking for flaws. I don't think it can download faster than a direct wired conneciton, but it seems like it might. I can't really tell. I'm already not missing that ethernet cord and I just set it up....Cool!

Do yourself a favor and buy this before leaving this page. I tried other products(some twice as much as this one) from a couple of other companies and all I got was low signal quality and constant disconnects. Since using this product I have not been disconnected once and have had great download speeds. Overall I am really impressed with this thing and would definitely buy again if i had to. Thanks for reading.

Terrible product! Every 5 minutes the USB network adapter will turn off and back on, making the windows sound for a USB device being disconnected and reconnected. If you're watching streaming video, downloading, playing an online game... anything when this happens... you're eff'd.Also, the software that comes with this piece of junk is crap. You gain absolutely no functionality after installing it and I seriously think the drivers they provide are shit too. I will never buy a TP-Link product again.I am better off using my old 802.11g adapter.

When it was good, it was very good, and when it was bad it was horrid.Product worked well at first (easy install, did what it said it would), then died after a couple weeks.Circuit City was not easy to return to...they stonewalled me, then send me an email insisting 'all packing material must be returned or subject to a restock fee'...like I'm supposed to keep an empty box on the off-chance the product is defective. Ultimately they issued a UPS call tag (they paid for shipping to return the broken adapter) and refunded all my money without the 'original packing material'.So buy without fear, but be prepared for a bit of confrontation. I think CC played nice b/c Amazon is the 800-lb gorilla, but it might be because they're such nice people.

I purchased this product after my Linksys AE1000 started to malfunction. My Verizon Fios Actiontec router is in a second floor bedroom at the back of the house. My desktop pc is located in a room on the first floor, in the front of the house. The Linksys worked great for about a year, and then would have to be reconnected every time I woke the pc up from a sleep. The TP-Link High Gain Wireless N USB adapater works perfectly. It is in the exact same location as my old adapater but pulls an even stronger signal and, most importantly, does not lose the connection for no apparent reason. The software that comes with the product is easy to use, and I was up and running in about 3 minutes.Also, I have 32-bit Vista. I noticed some other people complaining that it wouldn't work with it, but so far I have luckily had no problems.

I purchased this adapter over a week ago,sofar so good,I dont have any drop signals what so ever,this is a good signal boost for weak signals,even more when you use it with longer antenas,you can also make your own home made Radar like antena for addesional boost,all you need is a metal or aluminum can about 10 inches wide and 10 inches deep,drill a small hole in the back for your antena wire to fit,I used Alfa 9 dbi 15 inches long with magnetic base,a cobination of TP link and Alfa 9 dbi antena and aluminum can is equal to some serious strong and fast signals...Alfa 9dBi WiFi Booster SMA OMNI-Directional High-Gain Screw-On Swivel Antenna With magnetic base for Alfa - AWAP602HW

does exactly what it says it will do. i switched to dsl but don't have phone lines in my house (ripped them all out during remodel). so hooked up dsl modem to outside phone box and set inside outside hot water heater. needed a wireless hookup to main desktop (previously hard wired to other internet). this did the job. good strong signal. extension cord is a very nice feature.

I've had mine for a year and love it. I've only ever had 2 times where something went wrong... it randomly lost internet connection for no reason. Unplugging it and replugging it in made it work again right away.I've honestly had no problems with it, despite being in a crappy old place with thick floors, and living a floor below where our (crappy at first, then later replaced with a good) router was located. There were a ton of wireless things in the area to offer interference at all times too.Plus having a wireless USB adapter on a cord, kept away from the PC is supposed to be one of the best ways to do wireless to your computer (strangely rated even better than just having a wireless card.. I've read that and it also worked a lot better than the card I had!).

I play games plenty, and any older game that is online will overheat this thing and cause disconnects every hour. I had mine 60 days or so (no more warranty) and finally just smashed it after 2 months of non-stop disconnects. Seriously, these 1-star ratings mean more than the 5-star if you are a gamer because this thing simply doesn't perform.Disconnects aside it has the same exact performance as the older Wn722N adapter, in fact sometimes worse. Not sure why, it's bigger and has more antennae. I never had trouble with the Wn722n adapters, they go as fast or faster than this, and no disconnects. TP-Link took a step backwards with this adapter.EDIT: Appending this review, I have ran through several WN722N adapters that would slowly start getting disconnects then dying completely after a few months. The WN722N still gets better performance than this adapter on this page, though, so while both are unreliable at least the cheaper one works better.
