----------------------------------------------------------UPDATED: January 23, 2012 (Update section below)----------------------------------------------------------Installed January 14, 2011 and still excellent. I expect this thing to last at least until December 21 this year, when of course the Mayans have scheduled the world for demolition. :PHere's my take on the TP-Link TL-WN722N Wireless USB Adapter:-------------POSITIVES:-------------** It really, really works like mad. ** I get constant download speeds of 12Mbps+, which is close the the max of my internet bandwidth.- It's very cheap cost-wise for the great performance it gives you- It's small(ish), though it will look big connected to your laptop- Comes with a 3' USB extension cable which I definitely recommend using. It helps position the device, and keeps it from crowding your laptop or from being destroyed by being knocked out of your PC's front USB port.- Has a diffused green LED under the white plastic to let you know it's working, instead of the blinding blue LEDs that everyone uses these days. The light turns off when it's not powered (like when you hit Standby on your PC). NOTE: It's still annoying in a dark room when I'm trying to sleep, but a few post-it notes helps that.- The software is relatively simple to install and use, and allows you to use other products to manage your WiFi instead.- The current driver, software, and documents come on a mini CD and are all up to date with what's available on TP-Link's web site- The documentation is good, but it could use some more detail.----------------------MINOR NEGATIVES:----------------------- The TP-LINK Wireless Client Utility is functional but could be more intuitive. A configuration "wizard" would be a good improvement for manual configs. (It has been updated as of Jan 5, 2012 - see below)- Manual configuration (which you need if your network is securely hidden and requires a pass code) isn't well-documented, though you will be able to get it to work with the document, and maybe a little trial and error. If your setup is totally open security-wise (this would be BAD), you will have no problem with the software.- Even if the driver is installed incorrectly, the client utility may report enough information to make you think it is installed. When in doubt, do a complete removal of the software and drivers and re-install.- The QSS software that comes with the device is ONLY usable with other TP-Link products. Don't bother installing it unless you have a TP-Link Router/Access Point that has QSS built in. (As of the client update on Jan. 5, 2012, it appears to be installed automatically)------------------------UPDATED 01-23-2012------------------------- I've kept track, and this device has worked well even with interference from Coronal Mass Ejections from the sun (sunspot activity), though I have noticed that the performance decreases (could be other things along that long internet path, as well).- I now have a TP-Link TL-WA901ND 2.0 Access Point, which this device works well with. Unfortunately is does NOT connect at the advertised "150Mbps" potential speed when it's configured to do so, but I never really expected it to. My max internet connection of 13Mbps is far below that high rating, anyway.- The latest WiFi utility for this device is up on TP-Link's web site as of Jan. 5, 2012, and I'm a bit disappointed with it. On the plus side, it is probably simpler to use - which is a good thing for most users, but it's been dumbed down to remove all of the extra connection info power users like me appreciate. The message windows are also annoying and the English grammar is sometimes embarrassingly wrong. It also looks a bit cheesy compared to the previous utility version. At least it works well.- It is difficult to tell if the actual hardware drivers have been updated, because software info on the page for this device is really incomplete. It looks like they are not updated since I originally posted this review.- I still benefit from disconnecting and reconnecting the device once in a great while, but the problem that causes the lowered performance could be my PC, the access point, or electromagnetic interference. Hard to say.- To date, 4 people were helpless in the face of my review - maybe it put them to sleep. Thanks very much to everyone who took the time to click "Yes".-----------------------------My installation experience-----------------------------A friend of mine needed a WiFi adapter since she moved to a location that wasn't wired, so I recommended this to her based on the great reviews it's received. She successfully and easily installed this device on her work laptop, and was extremely impressed with it's ability to drag a much better signal out of the almost inaccessible 802.11n WiFi router located down stairs, the signal of which is blocked by many walls and turns. She also needed to install the device on her personal PC. Unfortunately we spent hours over chat trying to get it install

I get this as my third network related TP-Link product, I get first a "TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND Ultimate Wireless N Gigabit Router" (Sorry the new form of amazon to write reviews byte me and I was unable to put the proper link). So this USB Adapter connects easily with the router all the indicators of connectivity are better than good across all my apartment, is an small 3 rooms place but everywhere the signal is strong.I get this to give wireless connectivity to my desktop computer and to this time (about a week) there is no complains about, just works as expected. This comes with an USB extension cable of 1 meter (40") that is enough to take the adapter outside of the back part of the computer to place in better position to take advantage of it high gain antenna.I'm using it on a windows 7 x64 machine, the installation was simple, you need to cancel the auto detect by windows and then use the driver disk that comes with the adapter, in my case I was unable to cancel the auto detect but It was simple to delete the new hardware found and the I use the driver CD.The driver CD will install a software that will auto-start with windows any time but will keep you informed about the quality of the connection and signal. The bottom side of the adapter has a hole that you can use to hang the adapter from a upper side and increase the quality of the signal, this was a really good surprise because allows to place the device in a variety of places in order to improve the connection quality if is needed. The High gain antenna that have the USB adapter is longer than the adapter itself, have great range of movement, you can rotate it 360° on its axis and max 90° of movement the side. Also you can detach the antenna that comes with the USB Adapter to put other bigger antenna, just in case you need that.Overall is a great Wi Fi Adapter, the speed provided is good enough for a home network, so I'm really happy with the TP-Link brand because this is the second piece of hardware I get from them that is cheap, but well done and works as expected.

Well, I got this to work, but had to go to the TP-Link website and download the latest driver to do so. At first, I thought I had gotten a faulty unit (like the Kingston memory I also ordered with this product). However, after installing and uninstalling the driver and utility 3 times that came with the adapter's installation disc (and running CCleaner registry cleaner and then restarting the computer after each uninstall/reinstall), I tried one last gasp before starting the return process with Amazon (as I had to do with the DOA memory). I downloaded and manually installed the correct driver (in my case, Windows 7 64-bit driver) and the first signs of life were finally seen from this adapter, the neat little blinking green LED activity light that had refused to illuminate until that point. This also cleared up the exclamation point next to the adapter within Device Manager.I did not install the utility that came with it, but fired up my AT&T Communications Manager for my USB aircard and the new wifi adapter was immediately recognized. I then turned on the wifi on my Samsung GS2 and once I entered my password it connected to the Internet without a hitch via Communications Manager's wifi console. I am writing and submitting this review over my phone's wifi hotspot and the new TP-Link TL-WN822N, so yes, it is working and working fast. But, 4 stars instead of 5 because others not as familiar with computers would have probably given up and been more frustrated than I was initially.Update: The driver I downloaded from the TP-Link site crashed my computer so badly on restart I had to reinstall using the Acer Recovery console because Windows refused to start or repair itself, and System Restore was no help either in the Repair menu. Granted, Windows threw up the Not Digitally signed message before I installed the driver, I've never had a problem with a driver that is not digitally signed, but evidently this driver does not like my system or is poorly written. How do I know this? After 2-3 hours of recovering the system because Windows would not start, repair or restore, as soon as I installed the TP-Link driver again, the computer immediately blue screened, restarted, informed me it had experienced a serious problem, it again would not repair, etc. as before, so once again back to the Acer Recovery console (on a computer that is not a week old!). Luckily, Acer's Recovery console does give the option to back up personal files, so all my pictures and downloads were saved as a backup. I'm sending this adapter back to Amazon with my DOA Kingston memory tomorrow.

Alright, so when I typed in "Wireless USB N Adapter," the top two choices was the TP-Link TL-WN722N and the Medialink - Wireless N USB Adapter. Truthfully, I first bought the Medialink because it has a near perfect 5 star review with over 1,340 reviews. That's astounding. And it holds true, I still use it on my other computers without a fail. Then I needed another USB N adapter for another desktop computer, the TP link was $5-6 cheaper depending on when you bought it. So I thought "hey, why not test this one out." It only has around 400 reviews, but all share satisfaction. But I wanted to do more than give a 5 star review and say, "it works. whatever."Since I'm Asian, and time is nonexistent to me. I decided how fast and how well these adapters worked.I used Speedtest.net to get the numbers, and note that Wi-fi can fluctuate a lot depending on your provider. So these aren't factual scientific solid information. Just a observation using averages to conclude which worked "better."Here are the numbers I got using the TP-LINK:23 dl/1.79 up20.26 dl/ 1.79 up p2324.45 dl/ 1.77up p2219/32 dl/ 1/79up p2721.13 dl/1.83 up p2421.67 dl/1.80 up p2321.13 dl/1.79 up p2417 dl/ 1.63 up p2413 dl/1.79 up p2410.44 dl/1.75 up p2915.79 dl/1.80 p2315.79 dl/1.80 p2312.77 dl/1.71 p2315.60 dl/1.82 up p2316.26 dl/1.82 up p2320.92 dl/1.75 up p2320.54 dl/1.75 up p2319.82 dl/1.74 up p2621.36dl/1.74 up p21DL = DOWNLOAD UP = UPLOAD P = PingAnd here were the numbers for the Medialink:18.03 dl/1.7515.55 dl/1.75 up p2312.50 dl/1.73 p2219.10 dl/1.73 p2217.49 dl/1.64 up16.97 dl/1.73 up p2117.49 dl/1.72 up p2320.24 dl/1.74 up p2120.10 dl/1.80 up p2615.07 dl/1.80 up p2217.35 dl/1.81 up p2615.55 dl/1.75 up p2312.50 dl/1.73 p2219.10 dl/1.73 p2217.49 dl/1.64 up16.97 dl/1.73 up p2120.24 dl/1.74 up p2120.10 dl/1.80 up p2619.10 dl/1.73 p2217.49 dl/1.64 up16.97 dl/1.73 up p21I tried to do an even average of 21 tries. But a human can only handle so much repetitive clicking. So as you can see, I gave this TP-Link 5 stars because even though both were great and worked flawlessly with Windows 7 (didn't even have to use the CD). The medialink edge out a couple more MBs during testing. Mostly likely due to the antenna it has. Providing a greater range than the media link. The two devices were tested using the same computer and circumstance (e.g not moved close to the router)However, I do give points to Medialink for providing a nifty looking base. (they both come with USB extenders) But in all honestly, it really comes down to aesthetics and whether or not you really care about 2 more MBs reaching you. I like 'em both, but I give this one an overall winner.- Cheaper-"longer" range = faster speeds- And it's a pretty white cooler. There you go, just my two cents....and then some.

First off, if you think this is the model that comes with the cradle, it's not. That model is TL-WN422GC. This model is TL-WN422G. TL-WN422GC is listed as discontinued on TP-Link's site, so good luck finding it. I didn't double check the model numbers before ordering, but hey, we all make mistakes.I get a very good connection with this Wi-Fi adapter. I haven't measured signal strength in dBm, but I consistently get all five bars, four on occasion. My wireless router is in another room, so the signal has some walls to go through. There is an external antenna that can adjust to point in pretty much any direction, and it's removable, so you can get other antennas to replace it with, depending on your needs. WPA2 encryption is a must nowadays. Don't settle for less, though if your router doesn't support it, it also supports WPA and WEP. If you only have WEP, I strongly suggest getting a new router. It comes with a USB extension cable, so there's no need to worry about blocking off adjacent ports. However, some might not like this and prefer something with a smaller form factor, as well as a dust cap that sticks with the adapter instead of an individual piece, which is easily lost. Many adapters are like this though. It has gap at the end to attach it to a keyring/keychain. When working properly, it has a pleasant, large, green LED as an activity indicator light. None of that obnoxious blue, thank goodness. This adapter has a problem resuming many times from suspend and hibernation modes. I frequently have to disconnect and reconnect it from the USB cord to get it working again, sometimes that doesn't work and I have to reboot before I'll get a signal. It's a common annoyance since the USB extension cable makes it easy to pull out, but this would otherwise be unacceptable. There is no driver fix for this. However, I haven't looked for any alternative solutions online.I'd have to give it four stars. That disconnecting and reconnecting is a pain in the butt. I'm also bummed it wasn't the cradle model, but I'm not factoring that into my score. Amazon, you really need to implement some moderation regarding product image accuracy.Always cross-reference model numbers at the company's site before buying.

After doing tons of reading on Amazon about which adapters were the best for a reasonable price, I always came back to this one. The only reason I was hesitant to buy it was because numerous people have complained that it simply doesn't work with Windows 7 64 bit. I am here to personally attest that in my particular case, it works perfectly fine. I own an HP Pavilion DM1Z Laptop with windows 7 64 bit with a 1.65 GHZ AMD processor, and the adapter works excellent on it. I have yet to encounter any problems.Set up was very easy, and once the drivers were installed, the computer automatically recognized (and still continues to do so) the adapter as soon as it was plugged in. When I am in an area with WiFi, I simply choose which adapter I wish to use (either the built in one that's already in the computer, or the TP Link that's plugged in via USB).In other words, the computer automatically recognizes the adapter when I plug it in, and it works fine. It does not conflict with any other programs. So, I don't know why it doesn't work with some windows 7 64 bit systems, but I do know that it works fine with mine, and that is after almost 6 months of owning it.As far as reception goes, it picks up wifi signals little differently than the built in adapter that's already in the computer. Whenever I look at how many bars the built in adapter is picking up, it's always the same or similar to the TP link adapter. With that being said however, the one nicer thing about the TP link adapter is that it comes with a cable which can kind of act as an antenna depending on the circumstance, sometimes picking up a little bit more wifi than would otherwise be possible. An example of this is when I was in the room of a large building and could not get good enough reception to connect to the internet, so I plugged the TP link into the USB cable, and then stuck it out the window, offering me just enough connectivity to surf the web and do what I needed to do.

I had high hopes for this little dongle, but reviews maybe set the bar a smidge too high. That said, it's a great purchase.I bought it with the hope of amplifying signal reception on my laptop. It doesn't do that. In my living room, I get 4 bars with my laptop, and in my bedroom 1-2. I tried plugging this baby in and while the ease of use is indeed great (lit right up, installed drivers automatically, went right to work), I got no more bars in the bedroom with the antenna than without it.HOWEVER, I put the TP-Link to use on a desktop machine that previously had no connectivity, and for that purpose, it's great. I'm very happy with the purchase. So, if you're hoping to amplify your laptop signal... my experience has been that it's no more powerful than a decent laptop's built-in receiver. Now, I should note that my laptop is newish -- bought November 2010 -- so maybe it's wireless receiver is already pretty good, and if you are trying to get a better signal for an older laptop, you might experience a bump in your signal by using this dongle. ALSO, while the signal remains low on my desktop machine (2 bars) it has been VERY stable and reliable, even when streaming video on Hulu. So that's noteworthy. Maybe a low signal isn't the biggest deal in the world, as long as it's stable!Overall - I'd say you really can't go wrong for the money, as long as you know what it's good for. I did a lot of comparison shopping before picking this one and here's the overview:A++ for ease of use and basic functionality -- converting an offline device into a wireless device works great. (Note, installing drivers was a breeze both with the laptop -- which automatically pulled the drivers off the internet since it was online -- and the desktop machine, which installed off the included CD.)C for extra signal pick-up relative to a decent quality modern laptop. Got the same number of bars on my laptop with/without the dongle.A for signal reliability (signal reliability might in fact be better than the laptop - given equal # bars - I haven't done enough comparison of the relative stability of the signal between the laptop and the dongle with the low signal strength - but so far I've never gotten better than "Low" signal strength from the dongle, and yet I've never had my connectivity fail!).A+ for sleek design -- has antenna, but it's not unwieldy, so you can plug it directly into a laptop or desktop USB port without its being a nuisance, or you can connect it to an extension cable (which I had to do simply because the signal behind the desktop machine was only one bar, whereas sitting on top of the desk was two bars) -- ***IT DOES COME WITH A SHORT (maybe 2 or 3 feet?) USB EXTENSION CABLE to reach from a machine situated under a desk, up to the top of the desk, let's say.A++ for price -- Srsly cheap for such a handsome and functional little piece of machinery. I'd say if you are looking to improve upon your (already quality) laptop sensitivity, probably look at other dongles with clunkier antennae, but if you want to convert an offline (or irritatingly wired) machine into a wireless machine, AND/OR improve the signal STABILITY for a laptop that tends to lose its connectivity frequently due to low signal reception, then this little number is probably a good bet.

I have to give this adapter even less than one star, and I don't normally do that unless something makes me want to split my head open.I installed this adapter (latest driver direct from TP Link's website) on two separate Windows 7 64-bit systems (Win 7 Home Premium edition). Trying to connect to my home's Wireless G router. No go, no matter what.In theory, here's how it should work. You plug it in, and it says "driver not successfully installed." Ok, no big deal. Some drivers are not plug-n-play (plug-n-use, I should say), when it comes to a 64-bit operating system. No problem. After plugging it in, I ran the setup for the latest driver (November 2011 is the most current driver as I write this review). Windows does its typical "this device has not passed logo testing" stuff, and you click "install anyway"... no big deal, right? Wrong. It goes through the installation process just fine. To be fair, it DOES install the driver and the adapter is recognized by Windows (in Device Manager). But, there's one huge problem--- it does not scan any in-range networks, like a typical wireless adapter should do. It constantly says in the bottom right corner, if you hover your mouse over the taskbar icon, "No Connections Are Available." Yes, I tried the Troubleshooter. No go.It does not, and will not work. I spent three solid hours on two separate systems. No dice. Now here's a chuckle... a similar, older USB wireless adapter from 2007 (wireless-G) works flawlessly. Of course, I couldn't just plug-n-use that one, either.... that one needs a driver update for Win7 64-bit. No big deal. Easy. Driver installed, networks scanned. Connected within seconds. But not with this.I am happily returning this to amazon, and putting my store credit into something else that will work.Stay away from this adapter. I know there are over 200 5-star reviews as I write this, but I don't think most of these people are on Windows 7 64-bit.If any of you know of any workaround to my problem, please, feel free to comment. A quick web search showed that other 64-bit users were experiencing the same problem (from early 2011 to the present). So it's definitely not just my two systems. And again, I'm a computer tech. I know what I'm doing. This just will NOT work, under any circumstance.Onward and upward (funny how older adapters work without one hiccup... and by the way, this same older 2007 wireless-G adapter works on 6 separate Windows 7 64-bit systems, as well as XP Pro, Vista 32 and 64-bit, and Windows 7 32-bit... without any headaches.)As the old saying goes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm am quite pleased with this product as it meets my criteria quite well. I was looking for an adapter for my home office so that I had a nice quick link to my home server, and to make use of my external bandwidth (which has exceed the speed of my g network for the first time ever!).My criteria1) I did not care about size as I was really only using it in this one location2) I wanted to get a maximum speed out of my link3) The device needed to be relatively easy to set up with the 3.0+ kernels as well as some older ones (one pc srunning ubuntu 10.04).I first got the Asus n-13 thinking naively that it would "work" best with my asus n-16 router and they stated linux support. Unfortunately asus chose another chip for their newer dongles so I was out of luck in 10.04 (it would freeze my desktop on removal as well 0 nice). That was quickly returned and I gave this a try because it has an atheros chip reported as well supported under Linux (via the ath9k_htc module)The model I received was the TL-WN822N ver 2.0. It worked out of the box with 64 and 32-bit ubuntu 12.04 and 64-bit 10.04. Windows support seems strong though I did not test that yet.I get a "reported" connection speed of 300 Mbit/s to my asus n-16 router at about 40 feet, one floor and two walls. The reported speed is not so useful. I used iperf to a both a wired network machine and to my router consistently shows about a 194Mbit/s to 90 Mbit/s throughout the day without anyone using the wifi. In practical terms its about 19.4MBytes/s to 10.3 MBytes/s which slightly exceeds my write speed on my old server external drives so it works great for me.I highly recommend this adapter!Notes:iperf is a network tool which is useful to test raw network speeds while avoiding potential bottle necks such as harddrives or the protocol you are using to transfer a file. It works on all major OS's (and there is a great android version too). see [...] for more info on how it works. To take full advantage of the N wifi spec you need either a dual band router and adapter and use a chunk of that spectrum (this one is not 5Ghz capable) or set the channel width to 40 Mhz. The latter is not very nice to do if you have a lot of neighbours nearby (like in a highrise condo). I also run the router for n clients only (I have an older g router to handle those clients). More info on bands here: [...]Also remember to get N speeds you need to use wpa2 with AES or nothing at all - WPA1 or wep slow it down to g speeds.

I've only been using this thing for 2 months but it works well outside at the end of a 32' powered USB extension with an Acer running Windows 7 64-bit. The TP Link gets 150% or 200% the signal of the laptop's built-in wi-fi. I've also used the Alfa Realtek AWUS036H and it has 150%-200% reception beyond the TP Link but the RealTek usually fails to be recognized on the USB extension. The TP Link is recognized every time. The TP Link also gets N networks whereas the Realtek does not therefore when connected to the same network, the TP Link is faster than the Realtek. (There is a newer RealTek that gets N networks but many Amazon reviews say it stinks and I tried it despite those reviews and it did stink and I returned it. (Thank you Amazon for making returns easy.))I tried a 15-inch antenna on the TP Link and it did not improve reception. I tried putting the entire device on the focal point of a disused TV satellite dish and it very much improved the signal. I can get wi-fi from the university two miles away with the TP Link in the dish outdoors at the end of the long extension. The uni is far but I have good line of sight as they're on one side of a valley and I'm on the other.Three minor drawbacks. The TP Link does need to be unplugged and replugged sometimes when I wake up the computer from sleep but it takes mere seconds to handshake and get on with things. The included mini CD has a driver for Windows 7 which is all you need for functionality but if you want a utility that gives you more detailed info about networks and signal strength, you have to download it. The utility installs itself to launch every time you boot, which is unnecessary.Definitely awesome for the approx $10 I paid.

I'm always a little skeptical of claims made by inexpensive wireless devices but the TP-Link really did exceed my expectations. Here's the whole story...We recently upgraded to FiOS Quantum internet service but the wireless router supplied by Verizon didn't come close to supporting the transfer speeds the new connection was capable of. I added a TrendNet dual-N access point, TEW-637AP (highly recommended, BTW, and also purchased from Amazon TRENDnet 300 Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader (TEW-637AP)), and doubled the wireless speed. However, signal strength was so low that speed often dropped by 50% or more and the 58Mbps maximum wasn't close to the best. Now it appeared that the wireless USB adapter, a single antenna TrendNet TEW-644UB, may have been part of the problem. I was intrigued by the dual antennas on the TL-WN822N, thought it could be a better match for the dual antenna wireless access point and, given the low price, was certainly worth a try.The adapter arrived quickly and installed easily. (Be sure to follow the instructions to cancel Windows offer to search for or install the driver and run the TP-Link driver and setup utility **after** plugging in the adapter.) The adapter activated as soon as the software installation completed and opened the configuration utility. After selecting the TrendNet access point and entering the WPA security code, the TL-WN822N connected immediately. The first thing I noticed was the signal strength - Windows 7 wireless network connection status now shows signal quality of 80%. Even more impressive was the speed, now at a steady 130Mbps, a 225% increase.Don't hesitate if you're looking for higher wireless speeds but keep in mind that you will also need a dual antenna, dual-N (300Mbps) wireless access point to make the most of the TP-Link TL-WN822N. This was undoubtedly the best $20.00 I've ever spent on a computer.

I like to receive Pandora Radio music over WiFi with my Onkyo TX-NR515 AV Receiver. I deemed Onkyo's adapter to be priced outrageously high, so I was using a wireline Ethernet adapter, but with mixed success because periodically I would have to reset the sender and receiver devices--a real pain. I read a review on Amazon that the chipsets in this device and in Onkyo's proprietary adapter were identical, and that this adapter worked perfectly. I just received this adapter from an Amazon Marketplace seller in "like new" condition, unboxed it, connected it to the rear USB port of my Onkyo receiver with the supplied USB extension cable, and VOILA! without any action on my part a connection dialog appeared on the TV screen. All I had to do was supply my network's password, and I was connected without further ado. The connection quality is excellent (Onkyo reports 70-80%), and the music is playing with excellent quality. I chose to use the USB extension cable so that the adapter and its antenna would be more visible to my upstairs router than if it had been tucked behind the electronics of the receiver. I get a kick out of the blinking green light in the adapter face plate that assures me that the connection is working. Once again, huge thanks to the legion of Amazon reviewers who have guided me through so many product choices over the years.

First I want to state that this is not my first ownership experience with a USB Wi-Fi adapter equipped with an external antenna. That would be my Rosewill RNX-G1 b/g adapter which I purchased years ago. That adapter has served me well over the years but given that it doesn't support N mode, I decided to find a similar replacement adapter with N mode support. After some research I decided to go with this model from TP-Link instead of a similar one from Rosewill. First thing I noticed about this adapter was that it's very stylish and the green LED is position BEHIND the plastic white shell giving it a very pleasant soft/frosted illumination. Not only is it stylish but the build quality is excellent as well..better than the Rosewill. Like the Rosewill this adapter has a removeable antenna so you could upgrade it for better range if needed. A 3ft USB extension cable is also included in the package.Installing this adapter was fairly easy for WinXP but it wasn't Plug n Play even with SP3 installed. You need to install its own device drivers which was included on a 3" mini CD. After installing the drivers and utility found on the disc I decided to visit the TP-Link site to download the latest version of the drivers and utility. The new utility has less features/info/options than the old one but it looks better, is less confusing and more user friendly. Performance was fantastic and very reliable for such a low cost device. I was so impressed with this device I decided to buy another. On my setup I use a tabletop USB dock which you could view in the photo gallery.UPDATE: I finally had to remove this unreliable/incompatible product from my PC for good as it would randomly disconnect and then reconnect at a lower speed. Most of the time when it reconnects, a Windows bubble pops up saying the device would perform better if it was connected to a USB 2.0 port...even though it was already plugged into said port. I found that the only way to get it to work at USB 2.0 speed without rebooting the PC was to unplug the TP-Link and then plugging it back in again. That is until the next time it wants to randomly disconnect. If I didn't do this and continued to use it while it was running under USB 1.0 mode, my download speeds would drop by more than half. All this time I thought my new computer build was the culprit. I was even thinking about replacing my motherboard as I thought the USB ports were defective. I finally purchased a Belkin F7D2102 N300 Micro Wireless N USB Adapter and that thing works flawlessly with my computer. No disconnects and it even connects to my Belkin router at 144Mbps! It's tiny and doesn't need a fancy external antenna to get good reception.

I've had this adapter well over a year now and never had any problems with it, other that windows shutting it off after the pc goes into sleep mode. A minor annoyance that I recently found out there is a fix for.I just upgraded to windows 8. First of all, if you do the windows 8 upgrade, make sure you have access to another computer where you can download the Windows 8 (beta)drivers for the adapter, or download them before you upgrade. Otherwise you're hosed.Now...here's where it gets a little crazy. To reinstall the drivers you have to go into device manager and browse for the new drivers. You can find instructions on the internet or tp-link has a pdf that walks you through. The problem is, once you try to install these windows will give you an error that it could not install them, and to please see mfrs website. At this point most people are going to think the thing is broken and buy a new one, and that is unfortunate.Being a software developer I was determined to get the thing working so I finally figured out the problem. Apparently Window 8 requires signed drivers and these are unsigned. So to get the thing working you have to boot windows 8 in a sort of "safe mode" where it allows unsigned drivers. (google "windows 8 unsigned drivers" for instructions) If you reboot you have to do this process all over again. On top of that the thing keeps acting completely erratic now and shutting off every 5 minutes.Long story short, I'm buying a new adapter even though I got it semi-working. Fix your drivers, tp-link, this is unacceptable. I could recommend the product for Win 7 but until they get the drivers working it is not functional on Windows 8.

TP-Link WN-722N works excellent so far. I have it connected to an Onkyo TX-8050. I bought it based on the review of another amazon shopper, since it has the same Atheros AR9271 Chipset as the Onkyo USb WiFi adapter: http://www.amazon.com/review/R30FDB7EGJ96ZA/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R30FDB7EGJ96ZA . The receiver is in my garage, sending sound(mostly Pandora/Internet Radio) to 2 Zones, on my patio and in my garage. My main wireless router is in the basement,on the opposite side of the house, and did not have a strong enough Wifi signal in my garage(using my Samsung Galaxy S2, or my laptop, I had very poor or no signal, mostly none). So, before I even received the TP-Link WN-722N, I setup an ASUS router that I had laying around ,with dd-wrt , as a Repeater Bridge, in the hopes that I would get my Onkyo receiver connected to internet when it arrived later in the week. Once the Repeater Bridge was up and running, the Wi-Fi signal in my garage went from non-existent, to Good/Excellent.I connected the TP-Link WN-722N to the Onkyo receiver, hoping to get it connected to the Repeater Bridge. To my surprise, it found my MAIN router!(and the Repeater Bridge too, however, could not establish a connection to the Bridge). The High Gain Antenna works very, very well. The Onkyo receiver reports a 94% signal strength, whereas my other devices cannot lock a signal!I had it running for about 4 hours straight while doing some yard work, did not lose signal once. Will see how it will last in the long run.I cannot connect it to the dd-Wrt Repeater Bridge, however, all the work wasn't in vain. Now I have signal on my patio/garage, and I can use the Android remote for Onkyo to stream music from my phone/control the receiver. One thing that could not get to work, is see my Onkyo receiver in my network, from a Windows machine. No yet...I also have an Onkyo HT-RC270(pretty much same as a 708), but I have not tried yet to see if the TP-Link WN-722N would work with it. Most likely would, however, I have it connected to internet with a cable, and would be a pain in the rear to play with it.

Just like any other consumer out there who use wireless networks, I was fed up with my laptop's built in receiver. I have spent countless hours turning and twisting into several positions like Spiderman to receive a decent connection. Eventually, I decided to purchase a third party solution. The TP-Link TL-WN722N was my choice and so far I am impressed. You connect this device via USB which is very convenient because you can plug it in to your PC and Laptop.Installation:(Win7 64 bit)Installing the device was very simple. I read in other reviews that some folks had problems with the software so downloaded the most recent version on TP-Link's Website. Installation was smooth without any problems. I installed the device drivers but not the wireless connectivity software that came with product. Instead I allowed Windows to provide that function.Performance:I got an instant boost on my wireless network. From 2 bars to 4 and sometimes 5 if you use the usb extension cable included with this product. I prefer to use the cable to avoid putting strain on the adapter and of course there will be times when you forget the adapter is connected and bump into walls and other obstacles while moving around.Upgrading:The adapter's default 4 dBi antenna can be removed and thus be upgraded to provide better wireless connectivity.I also purchased the TP-Link TL-ANT2408C 8dBi Omni-Directional Antenna. Although the description says indoor I was tempted to mount it outside my window. I connected the antenna to the adapter and it discovered at least 12 other networks in the neighbourhood.Note: Some folks misjudge the performance of wireless devices. Radio Waves works both ways. If you upgrade your receiver and your still not getting good connectivity it because the Wireless Access Point (Router) antenna needs to be upgraded as well.TP-Link TL-ANT2408C 2.4GHz 8dBi Indoor Desktop Omni-Directional AntennaVerdict:I was not expecting such results with a low cost product like this but clearly it proved me wrong.5 Stars for me. Good work TP-Link!

Honestly I've lost count of the number of poor wireless network adapters I've suffered through my many years. All the major brand names, adapters with no names, all of them, it doesn't matter; most of the stuff I've had the displeasure of seeing just wasn't all that great, flaky at best.If you've also shared these bad experiences, know that every positive word you read about this TP-Link TL-WN722N Wireless USB Adapter is accurate and well deserving of the praise thrust upon it. Trust me, if you've all but given up on wireless adapters, give this one a final last try. It just works. Seriously. Hallelujah! I recommend this item to anybody who wants a decent wireless connection. Make sure to download and install the latest driver from the manufacturer's website before using it.If this doesn't fix your wireless problems, then the problem probably isn't with the adapter. Check that your router isn't overlapping channels and possibly conflicting with other neighborhood routers (a common occurrence). If you have an Android phone, the app "Wi-fi Analyzer" is a great free diagnostic tool for this. Amazon Appstore for Android Link: Wi-Fi Analyzer. While it may not solve every problem, it'll tell you a lot about the quality of your Wifi signal from your base station, strength of signal from room to room as you move it around, and who else is out there broadcasting that is competing for the same airspace you're trying to use. Your network, and probably your neighbors' networks too, will thank you.

I bought this antenna a while ago to connect from 2nd floor to a router on first floor. As long as the connection is established, the speed is very good and the range also. However, it takes several attempts to connect in the first place, and the connection is frequently lost, or the router just disconnects for no apparent reason. I started to tether my desktop to my mobile to use its wifi connection, which connected without problem to the same router and was much more consistent. Furthermore, the driver is not automatically updated and windows (7) is unable to detect the most recent version of the driver, insisting that the 2010 version is up to date. It is possible to download the most recent version from the website and install it manually after uninstalling the old version (install with the setup.exe). I don't know if this is a Windows problem or if the problem is with TP link, but as the most recent driver is supposed to fix the disconnect issues, there should be an easier way to install it.Update: The new driver has stopped the problem with connecting initially, but not the random disconnects. Sometimes the antenna works fine for hours, sometimes it disconnects every five minutes ten times in a row.

I bought this item to replace an aging and failing Linksys AE100 wireless adapter. For its low price and top reviews, the TP-Link WN722N Wireless Adapter looked like a sure bet. When it arrived, I installed the adapter and the drivers according to instructions...and was at first highly impressed with the speed and sensitivity of this product! I was seeing available networks that I'd never seen before, especially since my AE1000 was barely picking up my university's network anymore anyway. I was well pleased for all of...20 minutes. And then I got a blue screen of death.Thought it might be a fluke, ran a disk check and everything was fine, but then another blue screen of death. And another. Always, the blue screen gave an error pinpointing "athuw.sys" as the problem, which happens to be the Windows XP 32-bit driver for the TP-Link WN722N Wireless Adapter. So I tried a different driver, provided by the TP-Link website. Same problem. Blue screens randomly and frequently. I tried every available driver that's compatible with Windows XP 32-bit, none of them got rid of the BSOD problem. Finally, I plugged in my old and dying AE1000, and the blue screens stopped. After contacting my university's IT help desk and attempting to have a professional troubleshoot the problem, it seems there's nothing to be done about the blue screens of death. So I will be returning this product...with a warning:Don't rely on positive reviews alone to select your product. Just because it's one of the highest rated adapters on Amazon doesn't mean that it's flawless. Read the 1, 2, and 3 star reviews before making the plunge. I'm disappointed to be out return shipping now on a product this cheap. It almost isn't even worth it to send it back. It might also be a good idea not to trust unfamiliar brands. The more established names will likely offer better support. The broken English on the TP-Link wireless utility and website should also have been a red flag.

Why I chose this rating:This wireless adapter has brought me great success over the past few years. I have purchased at least 4 of these adapters for various computers. They have all worked perfectly! Why I like this product:I like that it gives you the option of plugging it directly into the USB port on your computer, or using the USB extender so that you can place the adapter wherever you choose. I like that this adapter has a antenna for better wireless signal. I'm an electrical engineer, so trust me when I say that the antenna makes a big difference in signal strength. I get 4-5 bars of signal at any point in the house, and it is an encrypted connection. That is exactly what someone should look for in a wireless adapter. The included CD comes with drivers for operation. I would recommend going to their website and downloading the most recent driver for this adapter to ensure best performance. The packaging was simple and effective. What could be improved upon:I tend to misplace the USB cap for this device. Maybe a more attached option would help people keep track of this little cap. That's about it!Bottom Line:This is a very inexpensive solution for wireless internet access. It works perfectly, and was well designed. Buy this adapter!

First one I recieved didn't work. I recieved a replacement from Amazon before I even sent the defective one back. Install the cd, plug and play. We have a 3000 sqft home and this one was for my daughter's room whose room is on the other side of the house. The signal has to go through a brick fireplace surrounded by a brick wall and another brick wall (the outside of her room facing the kitchen is all brick and the room the router is in is behind the living room which has the aforementioned brick wall). The wireless adapter we had before required me to have a signal booster or relayer- whatever you call it- in order to pick it up. Not this little puppy. Works just fine on it's own (oh, and her computer is on the back side of her room, which is against another brick wall-about the furtherst point you can get from the wireless router). So yes, I am VERY happy with this product.

This adapter is quite good. I'm getting great reception and speeds. It also has an easy-to-use configuration tool. One flaw of this adapter: it has a power save mode. After a short time of inactivity the adapter shuts down. I couldn't figure out how to get it reactivated without unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in. In the configuration tool there is an option to turn power save mode off. I did this several times and it would never seem to save my settings. This was a major annoyance that almost made me return the item. Eventually, the configuration tool remembered that I wanted power save mode off by default, and now the adapter stays active and I have a reliable, fast, wireless internet connection. Note to the manufacturer: do away with the power save mode. I can't imagine why anyone would need that feature on a device like this.

Well I ordered this TP-Link TL-WN722N Wireless USB Adapter for my Dell Desktop because I wanted to move it into another room that does not have a coaxial cable wall jack. It shipped promptly in 2 days, packing was hassle-free, and the product itself is small and sleek. The software installation disk it comes with both the drivers for the Adapter and a Client Utility software to set up and manage your network. It also comes with a software called QSS - Quick Secure Setup. DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE UNLESS YOUR ROUTER HAS A PIN# on the back / supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup. If it does (I assume TP-Link routers do) this software will work fine. To read more about Wi-Fi Protected setup and access point pin -However, the quick setup guide DOES NOT tell the user what to do if the router does not have a pin or support Wi-Fi Protected Setup. (I use a Verizon Fios Actiontec MI424WR which does not.) So here are the instructions:When using the installation disk, click Install Drivers & Utility. Once you step through the process and the installation completes, open the TP-Link Wireless Client Utility on the desktop or from the taskbar on the bottom right (icon looks like four bars in increasing size, or the typical icon for a wireless signal). Click the "Profile Management" tab. Select "Default" and click "Modify" (you may rename if you wish). Under SSID1, type the name of your network located on the back of your router under SSID or ESSID. Then click the "Security" tab and select Pre-Shared Key (Static WEP), click Configure, and type the WEP Key on the back of your router. Most routers use 64-bit, 10-character WEP keys but if yours is larger, try 128 or 152. Press OK then OK again. If you entered everything correctly, this should work! You can then click the "Current Status" tab to make sure you've got a good signal strength, etc.The awful thing is I had to figure this out completely on my own after I realized I couldn't use the QSS software and the 45 MINUTES on the phone with their tech support ended with the agent copping out on me, saying he would e-mail me instructions on how to download the drivers manually, giving me his e-mail address, and then promptly hanging up. (Nope, I never got an e-mail, of course.) THIS WAS THE WORST TECHNICAL SUPPORT I'VE EXPERIENCED IN MY LIFE!Anyway, after trying to figure it out on my own after getting off the phone with their tech support, I came up with the above solution. I hope it helps someone!Again though, fantastic product, great price, great look, and does exactly what it's supposed to with great efficiency. 5/5 for the product itself, 1/5 for the software and tech support. (Also comes with a USB Male to Female extender for the Adapter or anything else, really.)

I really wanted this adapter to be good because it was inexpensive and had lots of rave reviews but I find it has very poor range. I am comparing this to an old Linksys WUSB11 wireless B adapter I'm using Linksys WUSB11 Wireless-B USB Network Adapter v4I'm about 50-60 ft. away from my router and behind a good number of walls. With the Linksys I normally get a Very Good connection. I can get an Excellent connection with the help of a homemade wifi extender. The TP-Link only gets a Low connection, and with the wifi extender it receives a Good to Very Good connection but even with Very Good it tends to drop the connection a lot.Using Netstumbler and InSSIDer, I can see the practically antique Linksys gets 40-50+ dB over the TP-Link adapter! No I'm not exaggerating. I have placed both adapters in the exact same spot. The router hasn't moved. I typically get anywhere from -20db to -5db on the Linksys while the TP-Link routinely gets -70db to -60db. It gets -58db at best. I have adjusted the TP-Link's antenna in every possible direction and I've also tried changing the adapter height higher and lower to no avail. The Linksys also detects a wireless access point in my house that is located 20ft. farther than the router while the TP-Link doesn't see it at all.I can't believe a wireless N adapter would pale in comparison so much to a wireless B adapter; unless I got a faulty adapter which seems unlikely since it seems to work fine when I'm really close to the router. It's my understanding that the wireless N protocol has greater range than wireless G and even significantly more than wireless B so why is the B adapter kicking this thing's butt?I don't know but the TP-Link is not doing the job. Even when it's in the same room as the router it still can't beat the Linksys. The lowest I've gotten when the TP-Link is right next to the router is about -25db. I don't get it. I can't use the Linksys anymore because it's very old and only supports WEP encryption which is not secure. I guess I'll have to keep looking elsewhere. Also, the TP-Link's antenna is too loose and gets moved very easily. Just barely touching it will change its position. When I put the wi-fi extender on the antenna it weighs it down unless it's at an almost 90 degree angle. It's very annoying. The antenna's motion needs to be a lot stiffer. The adapter base is also way too light. There's barely any weight to it and can get moved around easily by the usb cable.I have to give this product a thumbs down unfortunately.

After purchasing this device I was able to connect to my wireless network with great signal strength across the full length of my condo (which is probably about 60ft). My router would crash after this device had connected to the network. It wasn't immediate, but it was consistent and I found myself resetting the router once a day. To elaborate on 'crash', the router would cease to broadcast the SSID and all wireless devices would disconnect without hope of reconnecting. I attempted to connect to the router's ethernet ports and it failed to assign an IP. After manually assigning an IP in the correct subnet and attempting to ping the gateway without success I came to the conclusion that the router had 'crashed'. I experimented with various wireless settings and firmware updates to the router but never found the right touch. I have since stopped using this wireless adapter and the stability of my router has been restored.I'm giving this device 3 stars because it did connect to my wireless network, and provided a quality internet connection. It just didn't get along with my wireless router.Wireless Router: D-Link DIR 655

I bought this as the wireless adapter I used prior was just not Linux compatible. I wanted an adapter that would work out of the box with Linux. My computer is dual booted: Linux Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows 7. I mainly use Linux.I found this. It is a good price and shipped very quickly (thanks Amazon!).However, it is a bit wonky. Sometimes it just stops running. The light either goes off and stays off and I have to unplug/replug it. Or, the light stays on but doesn't blink which means its time to restart my computer! I would say it happens once every two weeks or so but it isn't a huge problem. It connects to my wifi quickly but for whatever reason, if I restart with Windows instead, the adapter will not work. I'm not sure if this is what usually happens but its not a problem as I have a different adapter for Windows anyway. So far, so good, loving this adapter.

Contacted TP-LINK and after talking to one of their phone support tech, had gotten an RMA assuming the unit was defective. Not really wanting to ship the unit back to TP-LINK for a replacement, I did a bit of internet research and discovered that this unit has issues with ZoneAlarm Security Suite. The write-up recommended uninstalling ZoneAlarm, installing the driver, then reinstalling ZoneAlarm. I uninstalled ZoneAlarm and it took Windows 7 out with it.After reinstalling Windows 7, the TL-WN822N came up with signal strength 5 and is now working fine.

This wireless adapter really surprised me. When I built my little brother's computer, I was left with only one expansion slot, which was quickly taken up by a graphics card. With no more expansion slots, I was worried there would be no alternative. Luckily, I found this product. It's just as fast as my internal wireless network adapter, and (obviously) requires no expansion slots. It doesn't stick out the back of the computer very far, and helps keep the computer as small as possible (Being that it is a mini ITX). I would recommend this to anyone looking for a high speed, high quality wireless network adapter.

I like my office set up too much to relocate everything , & most rooms in my home don't have a phone jack. Most adaptors work but don't give me enough of a stable connection for effective gaming. So when I bought this adaptor I was really impressed, it had an excellent connection for the first couple weeks, then I started getting USB errors & would have to unplug/replug in order to get it to recognise the adaptor. Eventually the adaptor failed completely & took my pc with it.I got the blue screen of death. My pc was fine just a reboot needed, but the adaptor was toast.I just assumed I got a defective model. I purchased another one because it did work really well. When I installed the new one I made sure that I went to the website & got the updated driver in case that was the issue. I ran stability checks , everything seemed fine, yet everything happened exactly as last time,. Both adaptors only lasted 2 months.Best buys geek squad could not find a reason why.. & I'm using different brand high gain adaptor now so far so good. I'm not gonna post a brand because it's just been a month & I'd hate to recommend a flawed product.

Here are my speeds for before and after the TP-Link High Gain Wireless USB adapter.Before:2 bars of reception0.57 Mbps5.00 Mbps uploadAfter:5 bars of reception36.92 Mbps26.13 Mbps uploadThe only con about this product would be that you have to download the drivers yourself. Other than that, it is amazing! I would recommend this product to anyone.

I bought two of these primarily because they use an Atheros 9 chip, which allows me to do many things with it using Linux, like running it as an access point, if I wanted to.It didn't work on Linux with kernel 2.6 (Debian Squeeze) but worked fine with Linux kernel 3.2 (Debian Wheezy). This is because it requires certain modules to be supported by the kernel itself, and they were introduced with kernel 3.2.It also works fine without needing drivers on Windows7. I didn't need to install any of the accompanied management software as I didn't need anything apart from the standard functionality (connect to access points) on Windows. This is cheap, properly built, excellent stability and open-source friendly. Highly recommended product. and will definitely look into other TP-Link products in the future.

These have amazing reliability and range and works well on most versions of windows. I use it to mount to my xpmode/vdi/virtual machine to give it a separate network connection from my wired machine. I've also used it with a virtual machine running on my Nexus 7 and mounted it through an OTG cable. I now have two of these that I use daily and have yet to have issues with either, one of them is often in my laptop bag which takes a small beating yet the adapter continues to work.

Purchased 2 of these to use with 2 Windows 7 (64 bit) computers. We currently have 9 wireless N devices (not including these adapters) that connect to a Netgear WNDR3700 router with no issues. Most of the time, both TL-WN822N adapters refuse to connect to wireless N and fall back to wireless G. If I set the router to N-only, neither will connect, I just get the prompt over and over again to enter my security key. Even wireless G performance is a bit flakey, and often the speed and latency to the router was worse than the internet connection itself. To top it off, the driver and utility software is about as bad as it gets. The config tool pops up on every restart even when checking the "Don't show it again" box. The utility tool freezes constantly and the UI is terrible which is especially frustrating since you'll be spending a lot of time in it to figure out why it's not working properly. If you have a full screen app open, the utility that runs in the background will frequently take focus away from the foreground app. You'll have no idea the TP-Link config utlility is doing causing this, because it won't show any visual indication that it requested focus so you're staring at your windows desktop with your full screen app in the taskbar. Reinstalling the software and drivers doesn't help much since you never quite get the feeling the uninstaller removed everything properly and once you get everything reinstalled properly again, you are just back where you started. Often while troubleshooting, windows refused to recognize the adapter at all until a reboot. Ultimately I have decided to just deal with ethernet cables across the floor until I can find something better.

Well, it worked OK for 8 months, just died on me this morning. During its brief life, it worked OK and had good signal strength, although it would periodically drop connection to my wireless router and "forget" my security key, requiring a restart and re-input of the key.Pretty much a waste of money. There is no excuse for a piece of solid-state electronics to fail after less than a year, but I guess this is typical of cheap Chinese junk these days. I'm trying a different wireless adapter this time.

I am using this adapter with an Asus RT-N66U router. I tried using a couple of Asus adapters thinking that Asus should work best with Asus. They did connect but could not get them to work with Ubuntu. Windows 7 would work about 15 minutes or so with the Asus adapters then disconnect. These have been rock solid on Ubuntu and Windows 7. It also worked great with my Onkyo TX-NR609 receiver before I had to steal it to get my sons PC working after the Asus adapter could stay connected. Will probably buy another one for the Onkyo as soon as I pay off Christmas.Works great, is very easy to use, well made and great price.Highly recommend!Would like to see them come out with a black version as all my equipment is black.

This high gain wireless N usb adapter has an excellent signal, strong connection, and simply works. This is the second wireless card from TP link, and I am extremely pleased. Some other thoughts:* Powerful 2x 3dbi attennas. I now see networks that I have not previously been able to see with other cards. Through two walls and 100 feet, it was able to detect my neighbor across the street.* Software is helpful. It comes with software that lets you manage your profiles aka network connections. It's also nice that there is a percentage associated with the signal strength and not in bars.* Nice simple design. It's not too heavy, so it won't break if you drop it to the ground.* Comes with a usb extension cable. Adds versatility and reach in signal.I've no complaints. Thanks again, TP Link.

When I first got it I loved it. Had great reception, the router is a floor above and is range+ (somewhere between N and G router) and it worked fine. I use a magic jack for my home phone, and my old usb wifi was dropping the signal and making the phone almost unusable. Switched to this and the magic jack worked like a ground based phone. After about 2 month it began to go off from time to time. Before I make a call now I unplug it give it a minute or two too cool off plug it back in it still works fine. I do tend the run my computer 24/7 so burn out time is faster but this was a bit too fast. It still works fine for my day to day usage, yeah I have to unplug and replug it in every now in then...but mostly still working fine.I plan on getting another wifi addapter, and just use that when I make telephone calls, teleconference, and online poker (when it comes back), but otherwise stay with this one unless it starts getting much worse. They all seem to burn out if used a lot, so keeping one just for important internet usage should last much longer.I do expect to replace wifi usb adapters about once a year, two month seemed a little too soon. Though I am told people with more expensive ones run into the same problem.

I wok from home. Speed is very important to me. I have been using linksys, D-link & Cisco Products for 3 + years. I tried this product because of the price. It totally exceeds the speed of anything else I have used in the past. without tweaking I am at 5 bars and have increase download & upload by 40%. proof is in the stats. I will never deviate from this product and have already ordered a "backup" unit, I am more than satisfied, I am elated ! I have been a network engineer for over 20 years and this is the best I have seen !!

I did all of the usual steps but still ran into issues. Tried different computers, updated drivers, different access points and different usb ports. This clearly was not meant to be my wireless adapter.GOOD- easy setup under windows 7BAD- transfer speeds were not what I was looking for, 10-15 minutes for ~500M files on a clean channel and no other traffic on the network- windows shares were spotty at the best of times, could never rely on my files being available even if I had just looked at the directory (This setup had been running for almost a full year before bringing in the wireless adapter with no problems. Since replacing the ethernet connection, no problems with shares)- annoying large green light constantly flashing ( I realize I don't "have" to look at the green light but when its flashing at me I can't help myself )UGLY- adapter would randomly just cut off, refusing to function unless it was reseated. I changed the usb port, made sure the port was full power and even tried another computer with the same results.I am in the process of returning this product and its likely that I will avoid TP-Link products in the future. I'd be OK if i just got a bad adapter but experience tells me its a poorly made product in a nice package.

I was looking to replace a (more expensive in a local store) eensy weensy USB adapter that had worked ok, but was starting to get unreliable in terms of staying connected. I figured I would go with something like this to get the larger antennae in the hopes of having better signal strength. It worked. Signal strength is excellent about 50-60 feet from WAP with numerous walls in between.Installation was a breeze as the enclosed software installed easily and was easy to configure.And...bonus...it looks like a bunny with a green blinking nose.

Ok so I have a 64bit Windows 7 HP laptop with a built in Atheros wifi adapter and never really had any problems with it until I rented a room out from some people who live in a 2 story house and the wireless modem upstairs. I previously gave this adapter a bad review but it was a mistake. I do not know what happened and maybe it just needed to be broken in but this adapter all of a sudden started working waaaayyyy better. It now picks up many connections that my other adapter cannot see and the reception is much better. I was ready to RMA this thing but for the passed couple of days it changed. Maybe it is psychic and knew I was gonna return it so it had a change of heart? lol jk but this product is amazing and has saved me a lot of trouble. So if you are someone with a similar OS as mine and a similar situation where the modem is a floor up and out then this will solve your problems but you may have to break it in I guess. I had originally gave it 2 stars because when I first plugged it in it was only picking up 2 networks whereas my other card was picking up 5 almost 6 and my connection problems were still bad but just before I was about to return it I turned on my computer and it is now picking up 10 to 12 networks and the reception has shot up and I didn't update the driver it is the one that comes on the disc so you might have to give it some time to work I guess?
