SKIP THIS PRODUCT UNLESS YOU ARE A NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN!I love SONY. I am a longtime SONY buyer and I was biased to buy a Sony blueray even though it doesn't offer a WIFI capability. I sprang for this WIFI bridge offered by CISCO/LINKSYS that Sony recommends - because it is "optimized for video streaming". I am also a netflix subscriber so I thought -perfect. Long story short is that the CISCO bridge is a pain to set-up. I returned it. It isn't even compatible with a MAC unless you manually set it up with the help of someone over the phone in India. WHich I tried to do but as soon as they heard I didn't have a Linksys router/DSL modem they didn't really know how to help me. It was comical. They said "Don't you have a PC you can use to set this up?" And then " You mean your DSL modem/router is not a CISCO/LINKSYS?" No and No. Sorry! Their help was very limited and this was a function of the bad design of this bridge. Annoying that the bridge isn't plug and play in 2010! AND WHY WOULD SONY NOT BUILD IN WIFI? Apple TV does it! Wii does it! Xbox does it! AND YOU KNOW WHAT? They are all plug and play!!!! Can you imagine inserting a disc in your computer to configure a wireless device like the CISCO bridge? Apparently CISCO can!!!!! Crazy!! I guess we are all so spoiled by technology that when something bone headed like this comes along there is no mercy.I ended up moving my DSL modem/router to behind my TV and plugged it into my Blue-ray directly. Probably a better configuration anyway with no real downside to my home network needs. And I saved my $80 for new bluray discs!

Bought this router brand new....It would not work using the CD so I had to Chat...It would not work with Chat help so I had to call...It would not work over the phone so I had to give them control of my PC remotely...They could not get it to work and blamed it on my PC...The computer is not even a year old...and has worked with many routers.

I am pleased with this routher, but thought it would be faster. It turns out that if you have an aquarium or other electric thing nearby, it can disrupt the signal. But other than not being as strong a signal across the house as I had expected, it has been working steadily and a good replacement for my g router that had begun to shut off.

For the people having problems setting up the device with your FIOS router, you might want to try changing the security to WPA2.The default for FIOS is WEP, which is less secure. I had problems getting the device to connect.Switched the security to WPA2, AES encryption and it set up fine.

I took it out of the box and popped in the set-up disk, followed the EASY directions and off I went. Very simple set up. Works great with my Sony T.V. I would recommend this product.

Had to call Cisco for help with installation. They were very helpful and got me up and running. I am not techy so it was difficult for me personally to figure it out. Other than that it has been everything I expected.

This is way better than the E1000, so spend the extra bucks and get the better router, you'll be glad you did. I'm very happy with it, can stream HD Netflix movies very well.

After plugging it into my laptop and changing the default IP, then connecting it to my router/modem, I finally got it to work with WPA-Personal security. Since hidden SSID's does not seem to work to well on Vista Home or at all for that matter. I use MAC filtering along with WPA. (Two Vista Home laptops and one BB Bold all have problems connecting to my wireless network when the SSID is not being broadcast.)Took about an hour to set it up, but for some reason Cisco/Linksys wants you to use their startup cd and disable all security. Default IP and access codes on the first page would be more helpful.I paired the bridge to a Linksys WRT600N Dual band wireless router, I also had to move the wireless router to get a signal. No wooden walls in my house.Best connection speed is 13.5mbps on the 5Ghz side of the router, and around 6mbps on the 2.4Ghz side. on the plus side I have 5 bars on the laptop in every room in the house and the blue LED's match my AV equipment. I also connected the Blackberry Bold to the wireless network.Why I got this: I needed network connections in my living room and did not want to run cables along the walls or cut channels. The bridge is connected to a small 100MB hub. Samsung Blue Ray DVD and Sat Receiver are connected to the hub which goes to the bridge which makes a wireless connections back to the WRT600.It works for me, since I got it setup I've had to pull the power cord out once to reconnect to the WRT600.It does the job I need it to do. Setup issues could be avoided by listing the default IP and access codes up front. I guess I wasted 30 minutes using the CD and the quick configure feature, I did not read all the instructions. The setup instructions/wizard are for people who have wide open wireless networks.Look for the default IP and username/password first. Setup a static IP to match, then configure the bridge to match your network. 15 minutes to 20 minutes and you should be good to go.

Folks not to blow cisco's horn but had two computers and a printer hooked up hard wired and working in 20 minutes.Laptop signed on to wireless in 5 minutes. Network name and password changed in another 5 minutes. PS3 hooked up in another 5 minutes. IPAD was next. Everything works great and is fast. Would recommend without a thought.

I own a WGA-600N which has worked flawlessly from day 1 (using Wireless-N + WPA2 enabled). So I wanted to buy another one but Cisco has discontinued the product and WET-610N is the successor. BAD BAD choice!! It would not connect with Wireless-N and WPA2 enabled. It connected with security disabled but the range was poor (too many dropped connections). In hindsight I should have paid more attention to the pain other users had to go thru and avoided the product.If you want to save yourself some exasperation and hassle avoid this product.I own a bunch of Cisco/Linksys products. This one has made me lose faith in them. Looks like quality control with them is just a hit/miss or maybe they just want "Enterprise Customers".Hello D-Link!

After two failed Netgear wireless routers over five years, I finally splurged to the Linksys Cisco brand and bought the E3000. The setup instructions on the installation CD worked perfectly. Just follow the instructions and it connects to my modem and connects to my PC and wireless devices (Dell laptop and iPod Touch). The increase in range within my two story home is a very welcome improvement over my old Netgear WNDR3300. I have a very strong WiFi signal everywhere now. I have not tried the external storage feature. The browser interface works fine as an intermediate network user. I disabled the Guest account with ease. I change the device name with just a few key strokes. I change the passphrase within seconds from the manufacturer's default settings.So after just one day, I am greatly pleased with the ease of setup, the range and the ability to add other wireless devices as the need arises. A true 5 star rating from a home network user.ONE WEEK UPDATE: Still a Five Star performer. Zero glitches, and GREAT range within my two story home. A keeper so far!

This is my 3rd Cisco Linksys e3000 router which has gone bad. It appears that Cisco has a problem with either memory leak or heat dissipation. The router works great when new, and then it requires rebooting (power off/on) every so often. Then the rebooting frequency would increase and then died completely.Discussed with some co-workers of mine and they had similar experience. One person turns off her router before she leaves for work and then turn it back on at night so the memory leak can be resolved. What a joke!Linksys used to be rock solid until Cisco bought them. I guess I have no choice but to go to another brand link D-link.Cisco always has been a Software company. Their standard solution is always firmware upgrade.

This wireless access bridge was amazingly easy to set up. I wanted more out of my Directv receiver's internet access and I got it with the wet610n. My old wireless bridge was extremely slow and lost connection with our wireless router often. The router I'm using now is a Linksys e3000 which is also well worth the money.

this router does all its work but the connection has been lost sometimes :) You have to disconnect and reconnect to the network to solve the problem . I plugged out the router and cut the power cable because of the nerve at that time. Anyway wireless cable modem works same for home network ..

after reading some of these reviews I wasn't to sure what to expect. we recently purchased an item that is to far away from our router and I did not want to climb around in the attic fishing a data cable so turned to this device.I just got done setting it up and was impressed how easy it was, I've been in the IT field for 14yrs, professionally, and I know it's easy to get ahead of yourself and not read the instructions. with this product I acted as if I was a novice "techie" and followed the instructions exactly the way they have them on the setup disc (some of the low rating reviews have you believe that this is difficult to setup and you'll run into problems, my best guess is one of two things: a: they didn't follow the directions b: they happen to get a faulty unit)I had no trouble at all, everything configured correctly the 1st time and had no issues. I tested it on the blu-ray player in our bedroom (new item hasn't shown up yet) and it worked like a champ our blu-ray player has the DIVX VOD and runs pretty well.overall I'm happy with the product and am thinking about picking a 2nd unit.

Quite a bit of hype has been written about this router's easy setup. I disagree. I purchased this router on two different occasions (thinking my first purchase may have been a bad unit) and even with Cisco Tech support (who I was on the phone with for 2 1/2 hours) could not establish any more than a manual connection between my 3 year-old wireless Dell Inspiron laptop and router. I could not use the Cisco Connect software. With a manual setup, you lose all the functionality available with Cisco Connect which makes paying such a high price for the unit ridiculous. My IP is Comcast, and I've read several comments about the difficulty using this router with a Comcast modem. I agree. It's not worth the time and frustration. I'll wait until a manufacturer develops router/software package that truly is easy to set up.

No Support after 1 year - If you call cisco after the first year they will not support this product unless you pay them. If you purchased tis and you need manufacturer assiatnce to reconifure you are SOL

Easy to install. I live in a two story high-rise unit, with lots of steel in the walls, but this fills the bill. Netflix runs fine with the router on a different floor, music streaming is seamless. No problems linking up anywhere in the condo.

I never had a router before, so I decided to go all out and spend a bit more to make sure I got quality. And despite the higher price, it was definitely worth it. The Cisco E3000 is a network hub that makes you forget you ever had wired internet to begin with. I've connected not only my computer, but also television, home theater, printer, and even my mobile phone. I also plan on connecting the Wii once I get it. I've got a premium cable broadband connection, and haven't noticed any slowdown with the router, despite multiple other connections I've got as well. It was extremely easy to set up, taking less than 10 minutes to get the wireless connection up and running. It also has a sleek design that avoids the ugly antennas of other routers, and super fast in reconnecting after it's been unplugged. Basically, if you're the type of person who spends at least $1,000 on a computer, spend a bit more and get this router. It's unbelievably easy to set up, internet speed doesn't seem to slow down from the wired connection, and you're able to connect all other devices on it seamlessly. If you want hassle-free wireless, get the E3000.

I've been trying for over a year to reliably set up my Xbox 360 for use with Netflix streaming over wifi. Running a cable to the room my Xbox is in wasn't an option, so I've been trying in vein to get a stable Wi-Fi connection. In addition to the official Xbox Wireless-G adapter, I've tried converting two wireless routers to bridges with DD-WRT. All of these solutions worked to an extent, but due to the huge amounts of wireless interference in my house (I live in a valley, and there are no less than 18 wifi routers within range at any given time that my laptop's wifi adapter picks up), the signal strength was always weak.I had pretty much given up, and haven't gone online with my xbox in over two months, but then I saw the WET610N available as a refurb. I'd read some good things about it, and it was within my budget so I decided I'd give it a shot.Setup required a bit of trial and error and it wasn't until I tried switching from WPA2 to WPA encryption that I was able to get a stable, fast connection to my router (which is a DLink DIR-655). Thinking that maybe my unit shipped with a bad flash, I tried reinstalling the latest firmware (1.0.3). Same result... WPA2-AEP still wasn't stable, but WPA-AEP was fine. This is something Linksys needs to work out, as it's one of the main advertised features, and a requirement of most installations.I've been up and running now for three weeks, and I'm able to stream Netflix at HD quality over Wireless-N. The connection always starts out a little slow, but gets up to full quality within minutes.After a year of messing with different solutions, I'm pleased with the WET610N. I'm not sure the full priced unit is worth the cost, but if you're comfortable buying refurbs, the value can't be beat (and my unit looked like new- not a scratch on it).

I ended getting this bridge at great price and decided to try it out. This device is working seamlessly so far and was very easy to set up. I didn't have any issues following the CD and connecting the device to a Cisco E3000 router. My Sony Blu ray is playing great and I even watched a whole movie without it buffering once. I tried the horrible ethernet cord across the floor and I'm glad to be rid of that tacky thing, so this a huge step up. I also tried the Sling Link turbo but it would only let me stream music, for some reason my Blu Ray did not like it. Overally this product is highly recommended if you own a Sony N460. I didn't have to go through the set or anything, the blu ray automatically connected. Great little bridge and overall positive experience. Love that the process wasn't overly complicated and dumbed down for us who are not technically savy.

Had this router for 60 days, nothing but problems. Losing primary connection with individual computers. Ethernet connection lost. I'm giving up! Reset, reconnected mutiple times, still doesn't work. Don' buy it! Cisco should be penalized for this!

I purchased this router last week from Amazon and am very happy with my purchase. Setup was a breeze-just insert the cd and it walks you through how to get the router up and running. The only minor issue I had was attaching the external hard drive to the USB port of the router. I used the advanced settings on the website instead of the Cisco Connect cd and couldn't figure out how to access my files. A quick chat session on Cisco's website with a technician solved the problem within 10 minutes. You have to map your network drive on your computer first. For you non-techies, just start a chat with a Cisco technician online and they'll have it up and running in no time. The tech support was great. The speed on this router is amazing. I upgraded from an old Belkin Wireless G router and can say my download/upload speeds are 2.5 times faster with this router. I checked my download/upload speeds on [...] and was blown away.. Last night, I streamed a movie from Netflix, my wife was online uploading pictures to Costco, and my kids were online as well without any issues or hiccups. Great product, easy setup, and I kick myself for not upgrading sooner.

Spent over 3 hours on two different tech supports and never got this unit to work with my router. Sent it back to Amazon and reordered a Netgear WNCE2001 and had my blueray up and wireless in less than 10 minutes.

I bought this router to replace my old linksys G router. I recently purchased a Roku HD-XR player for my TV. I decided to go with this router since I'm watching instant movies in HD through Netflix. The router is fast and has a very good range. I have 2 other computers--a dektop in the kitchen and a laptop in the dinning room-- besides the main one in my bedroom where the router is directly wired. Both other pcs are getting 5 bars. The HD streaming on my Roku player is flawless, colors are amazingly clear with excellent signal as well. Don't expect Blu-ray quality since it can only carry 720p. At first when I installed the router I used the CD. The linksys online support was great. They advised me to set it up manually disabling the QoS to maximize the performance for video streaming. They gave me step-by-step instructions on how to do it since I didn't even know at first how to access the main set-up page for my router. Now I'm watching online HD movies while 3 other computers are running at the same time. Thanks to the simultaneous dual band. If you like watching online movies anytime at the convenience of your home, this is definitely the router you need. I highly recommend it.

I bought this router to get wireless-N to work with a security camera. I had some problems with set-up as their CD program would not work with my laptop. I called tech service and with no problem was able to set it up manually.The signal strength as measured on my laptop is no better and actually a little worse than my old G router. It could be because of antenna location but I don't know. My router is on the second story in my house and most of my use is downstairs on the first story.I do like having both 2.4 gig that works with my G only laptops and the 5.0 that will work with my wireless N laptop. I have set up my Vizio TV on 5.0 with no problem (though I am yet to try streaming video).

The sign of a good wireless router is how invisible it becomes after setup. It's been about 3 weeks since I setup this router to replace a D-LINK DIR655. Setup was easy and I've had no problems. Range is better than the D-LINK. I now get "HD" NetFlix quality more frequently (using wireless connection on Blu-Ray player). I wish that the LG BD390 operated at 5Ghz range, but that's another story. The only knock I have against the E3000 is that if you use the CD based setup application, the admin password and the access passphrase have to be identical. That's just not good security. Anyway, the browser based setup screens are not that difficult to navigate. I am not unhappy with the purchase.

see i had mad problems with setting it up with my verizon router but good thing i had a second router on my network i have to wireless connected to my network but the good thing is i got it connected it is very fast with internet wise i was supprised worked with my lg blueray dvd player where you can go online its a nice device i give it the 5 stars

Don't waste your time. I own two home theaters, two laptops and a roku box, all of which connect wirelessly to my WRT610N Cisco router. However, the WET610N bridge will not. Just to let you know my level of expertise, I have post-graduate degrees in EE and CE. I called support, and wasted more time. Entirely clueless. They tried to tell me that it the router was at fault and it was out of warranty. LOL. Returned, and good riddance. Others have reported similar difficulties connecting wpa2 to 802.11n with this bridge. I should have listened.

I've owned 2 routers in the last 15 years both Linksys. Replaced the first one because I needed wireless. The second one just stopped, would not complete downloads. Pretty good record with Linksys so I thought I would go with them for a new one. Well, if you have Roadrunner in WI you are unable to set up the Router with the software because of a IP conflict. So, I went online with support they wanted to know if I wanted to set it up manually. I said ok, we were working on the setup the screen went blank....then I thought about this a few minutes. I paid a premium price for what I thought would be a good router. I don't need this aggravation so I returned it and I'm waiting on a different brand now.

First I bought a Sony Blu-Ray player (BDP-N460) which is great,and I was intrigued by the possibility of netflix access. The Blu-Ray doesn't have wireless capability (why??!?) so I had to buy the wireless adapter (Amazon did have the best price for it). Wouldn't it be great to be sitting at home and have access to any netflix movie at any time? Well, I wish I had understood that the only netflix movies you can access via the wireless adapter are those available via instant play which, frankly, isn't too may. Before you spend the money and time (nearly 2 hours to figure out how to get it all set up) take a look at your netflix account and search for movies you can watch instantly -- then you will see that this item is not worth the money or the time. Maybe in a year or two when there are more offerings to watch instantly, I'll be glad I have the wireless adapter. But today, I'm just frustrated.

Like a knucklehead, I bought a BlueRay DVD player and it said it was a network device and I assumed wireless. Nope. So, I bought this unit, and it never would talk to my DVD player. Don't know if it was this device or the DVD player. Buy with caution.

I like this product when it works. However, I found that it runs very hot (yes, even when it is well-ventilated). My first unit failed in a few weeks. My second unit has last over a year; however, it has been a frustrating year. The unit needs to be rebooted several times a week and has required going through the full set-up in order for it to function.When it is working, it often causes streaming video to pause. This is very frustrating and does not happen when the TV is connected directly to the wireless router (with the bridge out of the circuit).I would not buy another one. I wish I knew of a more reliable product to replace it.

Because reading about it is a waste of time.I bought this piece of junk, we have used it for about a year now. We live in a medium sized 2 bedroom apartment, you would think it would work... but it doesn't. I dont know if it is due to us living in a complex and other people having wireless networks around us, but we are CONSTANTLY getting kicked off. It has gotten to the point where I get kicked off the internet every 3-5 minutes. I can switch computers, consoles, even my phone, I get kicked off everything.We have changed the channels, reset all the settings, tweaked and changed everything we could. We have called Linksys's useless tech support every couple of weeks, and they give us the same useless tips that never work. This was a complete waste of money, and I dont even feel good about selling it online, I wouldn't want anyone else to have to deal with such a terror of a product.I got so fed up with this piece of garbage, I got a 100ft cat5 wire and plugged my computer in running the wire along the entire apartment. It has saved my sanity. I hate this router, it is one of the WORST routers I have ever owned.

The Cisco Connect software is lousy. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn't. The guest network feature can only be done through the connect software, it doesn't exist in the web interface.The web interface mistakenly thinks ethernet devices are wireless and vice-versa. Not exactly inspiring.I can't see any computers on my lan, even those in the same workgroup. You can access them all via IP or network mapping, but nothing shows.Cisco technical support gives the following help "well if connects to the internet then its not our problem".Going to return this ASAP, last time I buy a Cisco product. I had a linksys back in the day, had problems, swore I wouldn't buy from them again. Should have known better.

This product was fairly easy to set up. Once it was set up, I couldn't tell because we had a really hard time connecting to the internet. My laptop was right next to the Cisco Router and it still would not pick up a good signal. The other computers in my home did not pick up the signal AT ALL. It was pretty bad! It would connect to the internet every now and then, but never a consistent connection. I called the Cisco company for tech support and the guy had very little knowledge about this product and all other routers. I asked him if there was another product he might recommend and he could not give me an answer. He just told me to send the product back for a refund. What a joke! I would not recommend this product.

Really wanted to like this router ... worked fine for awhile and then it just dropped it's WAN connection ... rebooted the router/cable modem ... no internet ... called customer service and they could ping my cable modem so had me reset the router and reinstall everything ... life was sweet again ... until 3 hours later same thing happened again ... just stopped talking to my cable modem ... so maybe there is an issue between my motorola modem and this router ... maybe it is personal and they just don't like each other ...Decided just to return the router and went to the local store and bought a dlink which works ok except the dlink does not seem to like my Windows Home Server ... just will not assign it an IP address ... weird as they are all in the same work group/domain ... so had to assign an ip myself ...So now I ordered a netgear ... which was supposed to get here yesterday but UPS lost it ...If that does not work CAT-5 I know works :)

Unboxed and up and running in about 5 minutes. Did not use the cd, but went straight to the ip and set it up. Range is about as good as the G router I had. Seems to be very fast. Did not need tech support.

I bought this to replace a Linksys WRT160N, which was fried while performing a firmware update. I was having intermittent problems with it, so I was hesitant to purchase another Linksys router. I am glad I did. This unit has a very nice exterior and a nice soft blue finish. Setup is a breeze; just don't use their idiot-ware to set it up and use the standard web interface. All the wireless connection drops I was previously experiencing have stopped. The gigabit ports are great for your wired components and the range on the wireless gives me full bars on my laptop at every corner of my house (~3000 square feet). The lights on the front panel are blue when megabit connection and green when gigabit. The router web interface has not changed much since last years' model, but is great and is easy to use. Standard features like DHCP reservations and port-forwarding on the firewall make setting up a FTP or Remote Desktop simple. I wouldn't buy this if you are looking for VPN support, however.

Where shall I begin. Cisco makes a lot of claims that are not realized. Unless all your network computers are using Win7 you will be challenged at every turn; forget it if you have a wireless connection using XP sp3, just won't connect. Did I mention your cable modem better not have an IP address of 192.168.1.1 because that is also the default IP for router and software; not the software connect does not give you the option to change IP. Support knows of XP problem and is more than willing to pass you off to a fee support site to resolve issue; "this is a known Windows problem". You will waste hours trying to get what should be a plug and play to work. Do not recommend purchase.

After seeing the adorable video clips on installation of this wireless bridge, I had confidence that it would install easily. Not for us. We got to the end of their very cursory screens only to get an error message we could not rectify on our own. I did the Linksys 24/7 Chat help for an hour, and it still would not go past that error message. The gal finally said she was not familiar with the Verizon wireless hub router, so the next day my husband called Verizon for help. Verizon put his phone call to a Linksys phone help person. It took an hour of going through screens "into places I have never been on my computer" but they got it working.Now that it's working, it is very reliable and perfoms admirably. Maybe if you have a Linksys router, you would have an easier time than we did.

The main benefit of replacing my WRT54G with this router is that the speed seems faster on my hardwired computers.I bought this router to use two main features and found they worked great so far:1. WPA and WPA2 'Mixed' mode AES encryption for my PSP, PS3, Tivo, Sony Laptop, Dell desktop, Blackberry 9700, Brother monochrome printer (HL-5370DW), and Samsung Eternity.2. FTP server for a USB attached esternal hard drive (although there is no FTP/S). My wife accesses this from her work - nice feature.

I'm a network engineer and I couldn't, for the life of me, get the network or the blu ray player to recognize this device.Spent 3 hours trying to set it up- followed the buggy and error prone setup exactly and even tried dialing into the device myself.Nothing. Never worked. Sending it back.
