The E3000 set up easily. We've had it for over a year, now with no problems. We run 4 computers on ethernet connections and random laptops and a TV wirelessly. Great buy.

My review will focus mainly on the user experience, rather than detailed technical specs. The router is fast (particularly if you are using systems capable of operating on Wireless-N), dual bandwidth is great, etc., but these benefits are all fairly and adequately set out in the product description.Pros of the user experience:This is, by far, the easiest network setup I've ever done. Just to demonstrate, I'll compare the setup of this router to the setup of a competitor, the D-Link DGL-4500 Xtreme N Selectable Dual Band Draft 802.11n Gaming Router (which is more expensive and does not permit simultaneous use of the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands).D-Link DGL-4500: Power off modem. Shut down computer. Plug Ethernet cable from modem into router. Plug router into computer. Turn on modem. Wait 30 seconds. Plug power adapter into router. Wait 30 seconds. Turn on computer. Follow the several steps of the "Internet Connection Wizard" to specify type of Internet connection. You may need to know the MAC address of the computer last connected directly to your modem.They're serious - I had this router before, and if you reorder any of these steps, your setup may fail. If, like me, you have a big cable modem that doubles as your landline connection with backup power that is not easily powered off, your setup can become even more frustrating.Cisco-Linksys E3000: Put in install CD. Plug Ethernet cable into router and power on (order does not matter). Click "Next" on install screen. Watch as the setup program does everything and you're online in about 2 minutes.That's it. I didn't have to specify anything, remember any MAC addresses, or worry about the order in which I was connecting all the various cables to set up my wireless router. Start to finish, I was online in about 3-5 minutes, including the time it took to open the Amazon box.Cons of user experience:Linksys technical support is frustratingly awful. My issue was that the router prompted me to update the firmware, and when I attempted to do so, it failed and rendered the router useless. All my attempts to reset the router and undo whatever had happened were in vain. The Linksys support page does not have any phone numbers or email addresses, just a guide, FAQs, and Live Chat, which is ridiculous when you consider that many router problems will push you offline and render "Live Chat" a useless option. The "Guide" has two options when you try to find help on firmware: Information about Cisco Connect and "how to upgrade firmware," neither of which helps. When you tell it that, the guide gives a link stating, "Click here to contact Linksys." Hallelujah, you may think! But the link is dead and leads to a "Page Not Found" error.I now have a replacement E3000, and am opting to simply never update the firmware.Overall, the product is 5 stars on performance, 1 star on support. I edged it up to 4 stars overall as most people won't have to deal with the 1-star side of things.

Stays up/connected and streaming over the internet using the 5ghz band has been great so far. I've had it for a couple of months now and have used it several times. Router is Asus RT-N66U and WET-610 is about 20-25 feet from router.

This was so easy to use. I inserted the CD then the adapter and was on the Internet within two minutes, if not sooner. I wonder what wireless service negative users have. I have AT&T U-verse. The modem is two rooms away (and I cannot get cell service in this house, so I was worried). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because if I unplug the device, I have to load the CD again. That's not a big deal, though, but I plan to just leave the device plugged in. I did shut down and restart and the device is still recognized.It's so fast. I played around on the 'net and watched an hour long movie with no problems whatsoever. Excellent video quality!

After a recent desktop upgrade, I exiled a 5-year old PC from its wired connectivity next to a router to a spare bedroom about as far away from the wireless antennna as you can get in my house.With no ethernet in that room, wireless became the only option.The installation utility for this adapter ran in less than three minutes, and then invited me to plug it in to an available USB port. Within a minute the device drivers were fully installed and it dectected and connected to my network's SSID. Even with three rooms and floor between the router and adapter, this device consistently connects to the router with strong signal strength displayed.Very affordable, and worked right immediately upon installation: what's not to like ??

Pros:1. Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless a/b/n2. QoS either by port or by device (MAC address)3. USB 2.0 port to connect USB storage device for sharing.4. DDNS5. Firewall6. WPA/WPA2 support7. Its web setup interface is pretty easy to browse and has informative Help pages.Cons:1. It runs hot due to poor ventilation design.2. Wireless speed not ahead of the pack compared to other wireless n routers with similar features.Updates About a Trick:1. I placed a large paper clamp (or clip? Anyway it's a L-2" x W-1.5" x H-1.5" triangular clamp) under the router to create extra ventilation space beneath, and it has run much cooler since. I think anything similar to this shape should work.

I needed a way to use my Verizon MiFi Card when my normal internet service was out. This device works perfectly to bridge my MiFi to my Linksys router to provide temporary internet to all the devices in my house. (well over 25 devices)

The E3000 is a great router if you want to wipe out the Cisco firmware and use DD-WRT instead. It has a large 64MB nvram so you can run the DD-WRT mega images with all features enabled no problem. The cpu is fast enough to keep up with doing that as well. I just bought this router to use with dd-wrt as an ipv6 gateway since I have Verizon FIOS and they have no clue about when they're going to roll native ipv6 out to the public; pretty lame but I keep them because the speeds are at least fast. With dd-wrt you can set up a Hurricane Electric tunnel broker account and get your own ipv6 allocation, run it on your LAN and then talk native ipv6 on the internet via the he.net routers. It's not an ideal situation since all your ipv6 traffic has to pass through an intermediary and that may result in less than optimal speeds and routing, but it's better than nothing if you need to have working ipv6.

This adapter worked for a few weeks and then started to disconnect from my PC. The problem is getting worse. I unplug and plug it back in and everything is fine for a time. The results are the same on different USB ports. The support person online was not much help.

I decided to replace my Linksys WRT610N router (which was having dropouts, especially when streaming Netflix using my Roku box). I also wanted an improved range of coverage.I first purchased the E4200V1. After purchasing I noticed there was a V2. So why not try it as well before making a final decision??? I bought one, and was able to try both routers, swapping them in and out, trying to decide which to keep.I could not detect any difference between the two in terms of range of coverage, or transfer rate. However, for sure, both the V1 and V2 were noticably better in range and transfer rate when compared to my WRT610N.The setup was unbelievably easier than any of the several routers I've owned in the past. It took no more than 5 minutes, and I was up and running... no problems... a relief indeed.Both the V1 and V2 fixed my Netflix/Roku dropouts. I decided on keeping the V2 (though more expensive) because of it's added capabilities - a desire to future proof my network.I have 3 computers, 2 iPhones, 1 iPad, a Roku, Apple TV, SlingBox, a WEB based Sony TV, and a few other internet connect devices... all hooked up and running seemlessly. I have zero problems. Linksys, you've earned my 2 thumbs up award.I'm very happy with my E4200V2, and believe it to be one of my better technology purchases of late.

First of all, the setup isn't the most streamlined, but it's hardly difficult. Just follow the directions, and you'll be fine. As many people have said, the adapter isn't the most consistent thing in the world. I keep having to restart it about once a day (just unplug, wait a minute, plug back in) because it drops signal pretty regularly. Kind of lame. I'm sure it's not a bandwidth issue, or a problem with my other equipment, as everything else works correctly. Overall, not super-impressed; I wouldn't really recommend this to a friend.

I have a medical office, with 3 desktops and a network printer in the reception area connected by a 3com switch to the main Xenix based server (each has a manually set IPV4 address), and 4 desktops and a laptop in the back connected to each other by a Netgear switch and a Linksys WRT400N wireless-N router hooked to our DSL internet connection (with DHCP addresses). The CAT-5 wire from the front office to the back office switches, running above the hung ceiling, got cut when building maintenance installed a new A/C compressor on the roof.Rather than run a new wire, I thought I could connect the two switches by WiFi. The Geek Squad reps at Best Buy and the tech support rep at Office Max said it wasn't possible (although the Office Max rep said they could send someone to run the wire for $150).A little research led me to the WET610N to act as a wireless bridge. I was a bit worried, since it is sold as an access point for games and entertainment, and some forums said once the WiFi router was hooked as a bridge it wouldn't work for regular WiFi.I ordered it on Amazon, and had it overnighted. I ignored the manual and didn't open the CD. I plugged the WET610N into the front desk switch, and logged on to the WRT400N from the back office computer. On the router page, I clicked the "Wireless" tab at the top, and with the "WiFi Protected Setup" radio button activated, I pressed the link button on the front of the WET610N, and clicked the button on the router web page.BINGO!! Both networks are connected to each other and working fine! All network functions including file transfer (at WiFi speed), printing to the network printer and internet access are there for the computers on both ends. AND the WiFi still works fine for the notebook. AND I saved $50 over the wire running price.If you want to connect 2 network switches without running a long wire through walls and ceilings, this is the way to go if you have a Linksys WiFi-N router. Even though it is marketed for games and entertainment, the WET610N works fine as a bridge in the office.

Unit was exactly as described by seller. Works great with a multi switch as well. I used to connect my directv to my router which is upstairs in another room, so I could get all the on demand programming without have to run wires though walls and such. Very easy to install much so then older cisco bridges I've used.

Cisco's documentation is misleading. The firmware support for the external hard drive support is very poor- Cisco's choice is to ignore the issue instead of addressing it. Don't buy this product if you are intending to use an external drive with it. I've been going back and forth with Cisco support- well mostly back (they don't respond other than saying that only the drives on their list are "officially supported", most of which are not in production any longer) for months and don't expect to get any resolution or firmware upgrade, this is essentially a dead product.

not really sure this is what i needed... however i decided to keep it anyway.. and now yet another misson may be in store for this item.. im not really a tech head.. so alot of this stuff i get .. then hang onto if it doesnt stisfy my original intention... theres always a use sooner or later for em in my house,,,lol
