I purchaed this product in order to make my directtv HD DVR receiver internet ready and get access to more features and on demand videos and movies. I just have a DSL wireless connection at home that is not very strong but this CISCO product picked up the signal in a flash and the process was done in less than five minutes. It is a great product for those of you who might have an appliance that needs internet in order to access features like a blu-ray player or a game console. The installation is dummy proof, so it could be done by anyone. My 9 year old did this one all by himself (he is not a dummy, by the way). The signal is always working, the unit is small enough that fits anywhere. Excellent product!!!

Ordered factory rebuilt WET610-N from CISCO, didn't work. I was on cell phone 1hr and 56 minutes to prove that unit was defective trying to get a return authorization. With return postage and original cost paid directly to Cisco owned store, I paid more for a factory rebuilt than I could have ordered it NEW from amazon and I would not have gone through the terrible experience to get a return authorization. And after 2 weeks still have not received a refund. Do not order directly from Cisco. Please save your self money and hassle, buy from Amazon.

I bought this to connect a Blu-ray player (Samsung BD-P1590) in my living room to the network router (Linksys WRT160N)in the home office. After reading all of the reviews here, I was nervous, but have had good experiences with Linksys products in the past. I have had bad experiences with their setup CD's though so I was prepared to do a manual setup if it was required. I first connected it to a switch wired to the router and it couldn't be detected. Plugging straight into the router solved that problem. Protected Setup failed, but everything else was smooth as silk. I entered my security key and it configured quickly. Plugged it into the Blu-ray player and the Blu-ray player immediately detected that it had internet connectivity when I turned it on and prompted me to download a firmware update. The bridge came with the latest firmware out of the box so I didn't have to do an update for it. I don't have a Netflix account yet so I can't speak to HD downloads, but it's streaming Youtube video without any delays or hiccups. I'll give it a little time and buy another one for the Blu-ray player in the family game room.Signed up for Netflix and it is streaming HD movies to the BD-P1590 with no dropouts. I've experienced none of the problems others have mentioned. I actually bought another one to connect a BD-P2550 in our game room. Same story with setup. It took less than ten minutes including moving it to its final position in the entertainment center. This one also had the latest firmware straight out of the box.The instructions are a little lacking, but follow them to the letter and you should not have any trouble. The computer you are using has to be hard wired to your router (can be through a hub/switch - I couldn't get it to work with my laptop connected via wireless) and the bridge has to be connected directly to your router (CANNOT be through a hub/switch) for the first part of the setup.

I recently bought the LG BD 370 Network Blu-ray Disc Player from Amazon, and since we don't have Ethernet in the living room, decided to hook it up to our network using this device. We already have an Apple TV that works well on the wireless network (N standard, using the latest Apple Airport base station), so I figured this would work well - both the Airport and the WET610N are dual-band N devices.If you're in a Mac-only household, don't bother with the Quick Start guide and the installation Wizard, which is Windows-only; instead, you should follow the manual setup directions in the full user guide (which appears to be online only, or on the CD).It seems to work well at first, but then it kept on disconnecting. Looking at the Linksys support boards for the product, I tried updating the firmware (which supposedly fixed some problems about disconnection when the machine had been on for while): again, at first, success, then disconnection after 20 minutes. Then I reset the device to its factory settings, reconfigured, and this time it lasted about forty minutes. That was it for me.According the Linksys support boards, the problem might be that the WET610N disconnects whenever a base station that is set to WPA2 (or WPA2 Personal) security changes the security keys. On an Apple Airport, this happens every hour by default. Some people had better results they turned off security or used the very weak WEP security, but Verizon discourages its customers from running totally open wireless networks, and the Airport does not offer WEP anyway.So if you've got a different setup (like not running a secure wireless network), this still might be right for you. However, if want Ethernet for a device like a BD player, you might want to consider Powerline (Ethernet over your house's AC power), or if you're a Verizon FIOS customer like me who has coax in living room for TV, this device: Actiontec Ethernet over Coax MoCA Adapter - Single, because your FIOS network router is connected to your TV coax cable. You might need a splitter for sharing the coax connection with your TV's set top box and the MoCA adapter, but this seems like most solid option for my particular case.

Returned a competitive product and purchased this one. Put the CD in the drive and within 5 minutes had this configured as a bridge and plugged into my blue-ray player for streaming movies. Beautiful.I use Apple OS and the other product did not have a automatic configure feature - it only ran on Windows. Boo! Bad!

I've had this router for about a month now, and have used most of it's everyday functions except for the parental controls (can never get them to work as I want with any linksys router) and any functions only available through the Cisco Connect software.I had to replace my previous WRT54G router since I was having problems with my internet connection when using the router, so going with another Linksys was an obvious choice considering I was still using Version 1 hardware.The first thing I did was download the new firmware available at the Linksys website, then start setting up all the settings through the web-interface (I much prefer this method over previous Cisco Connect software I've used). My primary PC is a laptop which has wireless N, but it only connects up to 65 Mbps which could be a limitation of my laptop. Eventhough this isn't the fastest speed for wireless N, it does provide enough bandwidth to stream videos from an HDD connected through the USB port on the router. It was easy enough to map the networked drive to my laptop, and I'm now using it for wireless backups as well.I currently have no complaints about this router, but I'm sure I'll find something I don't like soon enough.

never got it to work it locked up my phone line. unit never could see my internet connection. customer service outside of the country only could read from their trouble shooting script could never make them understand any thing I was trying to tell them. they could not tell me what function a button on the front of the unit did just told me to leave it alone. they could not tell me it the unit worked with a dsl internet connection or not. waste of time dealing with them. I sent this e3000 POS back. so long cisco I dont need your products and your sorry customer no service.

First let state I am very tech savvy and generally push new devices to the edges of their design envelope.I purchased this router to solve what I thought was a very simple requirement: Back up my two MacBook Pros wirelessly using the Time Machine program. After reading several reviews about the Apple Time Capsule, I decided to stay with my long time satisfaction with LinkSys.I brought the router home and had it set up and working in minutes, all the Windows desktops worked great via the ethernet 'hard' connection and the laptops found and connected to the wireless instantly. Absolutely no hassles.The problem came when I attached my WD My Book 2 Tb for Mac external drive to the e3000. There is a requirement that TimeMachine MUST use a Mac OS (journalized) formatted partition. So I plugged the MyBook for Mac into the router, brought up the Advanced Settings url and tried to add the storage to the router. I spent the better part of the next 24 hours trying to get the e3000 to recognize the MyBook for Mac.Long story short, After talking to LinkSys chat support (Tushar) and posting both on the Cisco and Western Digital forums, a LinkSys forum administrator wrote back and confirmed that the router will only work with FAT32 and NTFS partitioned disks. (Chat support opened an RMA for me to return the 'defective' unit....geez?)Bottom line, this is a great router, all functions work as advertised and I have better thru-put now than with my old LinkSys N. Buy this one if all your equipment is Microsoft based. Avoid it like the plague if you own Macs. Here is hoping that LinkSys can figure out how to support Mac OS for those of us who enjoy the simplicity that Apple brings to the table.

Great Router, Easy Setup, Great for streaming Movies & Gaming. But only issue is Range for some reason is not so far optimal, even though anywhere picked up does stream very well. Plus sometimes it Signal cuts out then comes right back on when streaming. So I've been told it's because the settings are default, which they are. But have no clue how to adjust it to be optimal. If any help, that would be sweet. But it IS a Great Router, for a decent price. ;0)

I have set up and used many routers over the years. I know what I am doing.The day I got the device I set it up quickly and right away started running into problems with its performance. I struggled with it on my own and with the Cisco tech support to no avail for a week. Tech support tells you to change the MTU number, allow external pings (a serious loss of internet security), and a few other canned responses that could more simply be written into a FAQ. I do give them credit for having online chat and phone access, but what you get is mediocre assistance. Thankfully for the product, my ISP *finally* admitted to my neighborhood that they were the cause of the specific problem I was having and that it just turns out the day I got the new E3000 was also the day they have installed a faulty update. So that was just bad timing and not the fault of this product. Now that my ISP has rolled back their system to the pre-upgrade state, the E3000 is performing normally.Unfortunately, as others have written, the bottom of this unit gets blazing hot. It is a real fire hazard. I had my older Linksys G unit on a custom wood shelf, but I cannot put this one on that spot. I have not decided the best way to cope with it, but clearly Cisco decided to cut corners and sell the cheapest junk they could box up.I regret this purchase.

Just like the rest of the 1-star reviews noted here, I was so frustrated with this device that I almost wanted to destroy it - that's how difficult it was for me trying to get this thing to work.I actually tried two of these suckers - the first I returned because I thought it was a 'fluke' and I didn't think it would fail me again. Boy was I wrong.Some people here mentioned the lack of signal - well I couldn't even get the thing to find my network. I am not a computer networking guru, but I tried so many different approaches - I called the remote tech support for $9.99 and they failed; I already mentioned how I returned the first device for another clunker; I went into the web-based browser and tried to fix the settings manually and it failed; I connected the bridge to another laptop to get it to find my wireless signal and it failed; I turned off the firewall, the antivirus, and anything else that could interefere, but to no avail; I upgraded the firmware and it failed; I rebooted the device and that didn't work; I was doomed from the beginning.I probably spent over 20hrs reading articles and trying to make it work, but nothing helped. This was soooooooooooo disappointing.***DEC 2011 UPDATE: Finally figured out the problem. It's NOT 100% BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE!!! The package lists it being compatible with all standards, which its not. I got rid of my wireless B router (yes I still had one) and bought the N Version - boy what a difference. I wish Linksys would of come out and just said that. I had to hire a guy from craiglist to fix my network and getting a new router worked.I won't rate this product a 5 or even 4 stars yet, but after a year, it has been extremely reliable and no lost signals (unbelievable). The pain of trying to make everything work was a major headache, but at least it works very well now.

Before I bought the e3000 I had the wireless G router by same maker. With the e3000 I have not lost a signal yet. It is able to keep up with several gaming consoles and computers without losing the signal strength. Set up was very easy on my part just place disk in and follow the directions. The only problem that I am having issues with is the connection of the external hard drive. The computer does not detect any external drives connected. Overall it is performing quiet well for now.

I've had this for 4 months and it's been perfect. Very easy to set up and I've had no complaints about performance. I don't really use too much by way of its software features except I did set up a guest access which is mostly fine although sometimes my internet devises confuses the main access with the guest access requiring me to reenter passwords. My only complaint is range isn't as cracked up as I was lead to believe given this was supposed to be one of Linksys' top of the line devices. I live in a big house and if I'd on the edges of the house or edges of yard, I can't get a signal or it's really weak. The reps at BB told me I wouldn't have any problems when I described the layout.

It seems Routers last about 2 yrs and I replaced my WRT350n with this one. Like most Linksys products I always use the browser interface to setup. This time I used the disk. You can't set MAC filtering etc thru this method. Conversely you can't set the Guest account thru browser... Makes you wonder what the engineers and software guys are thinking! The Router works great and was easy to setup...

While this router has top ratings from several comparison and ratings web sites they don't delve into the advanced user setups. This router is great for simple direct connections to your ISPs, easy setup, quite secure right off the bat. But if you want to define your own network IP address range you're out of luck if you have another dhcp server on your network, you will be locked into a range this device "suggests". If you want this router to pass through DHCP from another device, you're out of luck. For those two reasons I have to give this router three stars. I would also suggest designing it to stand upright to lessen its footprint. Its range is good or comparable to many other routers in its class, the dual frequency band is also nice if you have a 5ghz NIC (95% of wireless devices don't). the security features are robust, I really like the MAC address filtering that stops any device that you don't specify from accessing this router/ap without exception!Another gripe is you cannot setup this router while it is connected to your computer locally, in other words if it is not connected to the internet - NO ACCESS to the configuration settings.I'm going to do some further testing to see how good the security if from the internet coming into my network.

I haven't had this router long so I can't comment on reliability and have had no occasion to use tech support. Setup using Cisco Connect was very quick,easy and trouble free. I connected to two laptops,a wireless printer and a wired desktop. Subsequent operation has been flawless. I have been able to use my laptops anywhere in my home and have maintained a strong signal with the router. So far I am very pleased with it.

I've purchased countless bridges. And I've gotten all of them to work 'somewhat'. Some don't issue DHCP, some don't play well with setup, some resist change.I purchased this item over a year ago, and it has worked well the whole time, even with a changing environment. I have this N bridge, and several G bridges. The Lynksys G bridges have 4 ports, and worked well, until I tried to enable encryption on my network. THIS router had no trouble with the change. I just grabbed it, pluged it into my router with a LAN cable, accessed its easy to find admin page, and clicked on a button or two. Done.I like it so much, I'm replacing my G bridges today with this model.

I use the WET610N to tie my security cameras to the Internet. Range is good, and I never have a problem with it--until it just up and dies after about a year. I'm on my fifth one of these devices. I've just decided it's the cost of doing business. I just wish they were more dependable!

Set this up yesterday. Didn't use the included cd, but instead chose to go in manually and set it up via web page config mode. Whole thing took maybe 45 minutes.Everything looks the same as my old wrt54g router which was creeping on its way to the old age home and who's signal would die every time I'd fire up the microwave.Easy setup, blazing speeds, setup port forwarding for my xbox 360, port forwarding for my air video server to stream DVR video to my iPhone and iPad, turned on firewall and made sure VPN pass thru was enabled. Set a password on router to change from default. Setup DHCP to have a 7 day lease.We have almost a completely wireless house. A blackberry, iPhone, iPad, xbox360, netbook, 2 laptops, HTPC, Hp Printer and a desktop.Everything is hooked up wireless except the desktop.Setup the 5ghz with a unique SSID and password and connected the xbox360. Tested a 1080i streaming video from xbox live, worked flawlessly. Tried to hook the HTPC into the 5ghz but could not due to an issue with the pc's NIC (probably with a driver, I'll mess with it later). Put the iPad on the 5ghz and it hooked in flawlessly and streamed video like a champ.Everything else went on the the 2.4ghz band. Setup the same SSID and password that I used on my old linksys and then unplugged the old router. Everything hopped right over to the new one.Speed seems better on everything. The UnPnP feature resolved some issues I had between xbox and getting media off other pcs.Tested VPN pass thru to make sure I could connect back to work network.Only thing I have not tried is the Storage server option.Definately a solid router so far.

For the past six months or so I have been using a Linksys WRT54G2 router for my wireless home network which only included a wireless printer. This product was unacceptable since it would randomly drop the internet connection to my WIRED computer and wireless printer. Working with various types of Linksys technical support was not successful and they finally agreed to replace the unit.In the meantime, I decided to upgrade the router to an N type since I now wanted to stream video from my internet connection to my HD TV which is on the other side of the house and a wired or powerline connection was not possible. I chose the E 3000 after reading reviews by users at Amazon and Linksys. The setup of the device was foolproof using the included CD. I have had it in operation for the past month and have had no dropping of the internet signal. I did take one or the reviewer's advice and elevated the unit above the desktop about 4 inches in order for the E3000's greater amount of heat to dissipate.I installed a Roku(Netflix)player to the TV and after some minor difficulty was able to connect it to the router (and the internet). I am now capable of streaming Netflix instantaneous movies with a quality wireless connection. My DSL connection bandwidth is 2.5 Mbps which produces a video picture as good as a DVD. Given my experience, the E3000 was well worth the price of the upgrade.

This is the second re-conditioned adapter I bought. I bought the first one about 2 years ago. Both worked perfectly out of the box, very easy to set up, just insert the setup disc and follow the bouncing ball. Even a caveman could do it. I am using them for Directv on demand and Netflix streaming vidio .

THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE IT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS... AFTER THIS IT KEEPS LOOSING CONNECTION SEVERAL MINUTES... GET AWAY FROM IT... CISCO LAUNCHED THE NEW SERIES BECAUSE THE WIRELESS ROUTERS FROM E3000 AND SMALLERS HAVE SERIOUS HARDWARE PROBLEMS

I will make this quick and painless for you. It just doesn't work. You could search the web for the keywords and you will find questions w/o answers. I went as far as calling Linksys support, although very eager to help, we were not able to make it work. the feature Xbox live works just fine. I have 2 of these for other devices and this review is limited only to the system link Xbox feature. I am contemplating on getting a different adapter maybe an Xbox branded adapter.

This unit is an excellent choice for audio /video equipment that requires an internet connection but is located in an area where there is no hard wired ethernet cable. Ideally, you should have a dual band wireless router (Cisco makes those too). Have both bands activated on the router and then assign this unit to the faster (5G) band. But a single band router will work just as well. Using the enclosed CD installation software is easier than manually adding the unit to your network. Finally, your internet connection speed should be reasonably fast to enjoy streaming content from audio/video equipment.

I purchased this router because it is one of the relatively few that offers simultaneous dual-band use and 802.11 b/g/n. Both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz antennae are in use at the same time, unlike other routers where you must select one band to use and the other is unusable. The Cisco Connect software included with the router is very easy to follow and allows users who are not technically savvy to easily and quickly set up a home network. I used it to connect my Vista PC, OSX 10.4 iMac laptop, Xbox 360 slim, and PS3 in about 15 minutes. The wireless N connection to the Xbox 360 is able to stream Netflix HD at full bars so the connection is strong.The only minor issue I had was that my iMac would detect the router but not connect to the internet using WPA2 password protection. I switched it to the older WPA and it worked fine though this may be because of the age of my laptop and not a fault of the router.I was surprised and pleased at how easily this router could be setup and for those with more knowledge the browser-based interface is easily used to tweak a multitude of features. While the price is a factor you are paying for simultaneous access to both radio bands. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to segregate their video streaming onto the 5Ghz band and their computer use onto the 2.4Ghz band for uninterrupted use of both.

Right out of the box, the self install CD for the bridge was easy and painless... Once it found the phone router, requested that I plug it in to the wireless unit, a WI-FI Sony Blue DVD... once again, it was self install and I was amazed at how easy this was.Great job Cisco!The unit I purchased was a refurbished unit, kudos to the store, great job as well!Thanks Amazon for making things easy!

Well I am still not completely hooked up with this product yet, but I called for tech support and was told I should buy a new router. The one I have is too old and I would need to pay for technical support to get them to work together properly. The tech support guy advised me to buy a new router which would come with free tech support for 90 days and that they would be able to get me up and running for close to the same amount I would have to pay on tech support for an old product. I thought that this was good advise and that he was looking out for his customer's best interests.

I read the many reviews on the Linksys WET610N wireless bridge on Amazon.com and I realized that it could be quite difficult to configure. I also realized that the "amazingly simple" series of videos would be misleading. Nevertheless, I decided that the product was perfect for what I wanted to do, and I had it delivered overnight.Sure enough, throwing the "simple installation CD" in the garbage was the easiest, and smartest, part of the installation. However, I did configure the WET610N and it is performing admirably in my living room--even attached to a switch with three Internet devices attached. I am truly impressed!The problem is that the "simple installation CD" would have never found the unit on my network. The unit was assigned an IP address by DHCP that was different from the default. Resetting the WET610N would have done no good. In fact, it would have never been found.Now for the good news! Window 7 found it automatically. And, by logging into the firmware of the unit, according to instructions posted elsewhere on this list, I was able to configure the WET610N exactly as I wanted to so it fell within my DHCP range. I assigned it a fixed IP address where I wanted it to be, and it has worked flawlessly. Nevertheless, people who do no know their SSID, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, and what *kind* of encryption they have, as well as their security code, on their network may have trouble configuring it manually. From the other posts I was able to figure out what I needed to do, but I would not call it easy.The product is outstanding, nevertheless! I have it running an 8-port switch and I have three other devices plugged into it. I updated the firmware of my TV and receiver through the WET610N connection.Jim

WPA2 is broken, hence you cannot run this device using 802.11n. This is a pretty critical feature and what really bugs me is that Cisco-Linksys obviously don't care about it, no firmware updates to fix this. Because of this, I definitely will not buy another Cisco-Linksys device and I strongly encourage others not to until this company supports its products. This is not a minor feature that is not working, it is the most important feature; i.e. 802.11n with encryption. The last firmware update was back in 8/2009. Browse the web, tons of reports about this problem - this is not a secret.Do not buy this product if you want/need WPA2 and/or 802.11n

I am very pleased that I bought the E3000. It replaced my old 802h linksys. The setup of the E3000 was very simple and straightforward. Once setup I easily connected our two mac books, the tivo, the vonage phone and not so easy was the wireless bother printer but in the end I got it working. I've had no problem for a couple of months now and the speed is noticeably faster. I just need to get the upgrade for the tivo now to take advantage.

The only problem I encountered was that I use linux rather than windows. This took extra time configuring the router.

I'm surprised to have constant troubles in hooking up to the router when I'm not in direct visibility of the device.The older router I have works much better.

The setup of the router was easy. However, there were a couple of problems1. Although it is mentioned that it can provide 150Mbps capacity, I got only around 54Mpbs speed. I tried streaming HD videos to a WD TV Live plus device but the videos were too glitchy.2. The parental control has options to only block service during the night time but not during the day. This is an unnecessary restriction.2. Within a week, the cisco connect software suggested to update the firmware and the update failed. Thereafter, the power lights continuously blinks and calling to customer support, they mentioned that the router is dead. I think the update should have been more secure for a ~ $150 product and is not reliable. I will not buy Cisco router products again.

I bought this to replace an older dual antenna Linksys with extra purchase larger antenna and found after a complex set-up that I gained no distance at all, even 20 ft away. Yes it looks nicer but that is all. I do not recommend this unit.

I received one unit and returned it, only to get a second unit with the same problem. After setup, which did not go easily, I could not access the other computers on the network. Then it started to download an update, but only got up to about 20% and crashed, leaving the router completely useless; it would not connect to anything, even the Web. As I said, this happened on two units. Linksys customer service was incapable of even understanding the problem, let alone giving some useful advise. After the second one, I gave up, returned the unit and bought a Netgear Rangemax WNDR3700 Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router (Black), which was up and running on all three computers in about 15 minutes and works great. I had been a loyal Linksys customer, but nevermore. The only good news in all of this is that Amazon is terrific. None of this was their fault, yet they allowed me to return the routers and sent prepaid mailers immediately.

This router was very simple to set up without even using the setup disk. I spent a totalof 15 minutes setting up a desktop, 2 laptops and 3 mobile devices. The range has been excellent as well with much improved speed from my old router.

Great product, way faster then the previous Belkin router I was using b4 I bought this. Especially like how it brodcasts 2 networks, one is ur regular network and the othr is a guest network that can b used by friends, family or any othr house guest u may have.

This device works great, easy configuration, good design layout, fast operation are some of the attributes more important of this device.I like how this router applies its configuration inmediatly, with not failures, also the USB to attach an External HardDisk is very useful.I have some problems using the 5Ghz frequency, seems my wireless card doesn't support this standard, but I am not quite sure about that so far. I will get back to this comment as soon as the issue is resolved!

I purchased the Cisco-Linksys WET610N Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming and Video Adapter because I wanted to have access to my Netflix account in the other side of my house and didn't want to run a cable from my router 100 feet through the ceilings. Unboxed it, set it up, followed the directions, 10 minutes later I had it working perfectly. This is an example of a good design, easy install, user friendly, a very nice product. If you have a similar issue, I would highly recommend this adapter.

I've never written an Amazon review before, even though I've been buying here since 1997. Avoid this router! I have an incredible ISP that gives me 100 mbps up and down (symmetrical). When I first boot the router, and go to speedtest.net (using a *wired* computer -- not even using 802.11), I get about 95mbps up and down, just as I'm supposed to. Within a few hours I get 30mbps and after a day or two, it goes all the way to 1mbps! If I reboot the router, it immediately goes back to 95mbps, and within a few hours back down to 30. The only way to keep the WAN connection running at full speed is to reboot it! I know the problem is not with my ISP, because I can consistently get the speed to instantly return to 95mbps by rebooting the router. And it's not a problem with the wireless -- all of these tests are done with a wired connection.There's a thread on Cisco's site about people with this problem:[...].Some people claim that turning off uPNP fixes the problem -- I'm trying that now. But until Cisco/Linksys comes out with a firmware fix, I'd strongly advise against buying this router. I wish I could return this stupid thing but I already threw away the packaging!

All the other adapters I have tried had the ability to do a scan of wireless networks available and set the adapter to connect to those. Why this Cisco version doesn't not allow that is a mystery to me. The software instructs you to connect the device to your WiFi AP router with a physical ethernet cable. What about the case where you can't physically access the AP? Hotels, Apartment Complex Wifi, Etc Etc. The user software simply stops there and doesn't let you go further.Next I accessed the onboard browser interface to try and bypass the install software by just going to the default IP of the adapter (169.254.1.250). No luck there either. You could scan and see wireless networks but couldn't actually connect to them successfully. Buy the Netgear (WNCE2001) or Trendnet (TEW-647GA) versions instead. Those worked perfectly.

I wanted a home network to connect various computers, a shared laser printer and a shared hard drive but I only have dial up internet access. It turns out, this router doesn't let me off first base unless I have a broadband internet connection. Tech support is question and answer based and might as well not exist as all answers assume you have broadband internet but are just having trouble connecting to it. Unless I am able to find some help on a blog somewhere, I will have to return this item as it doesn't do anything without broadband!

Although I can't comment on the ability to stream video, they worked great for adding two VOIP analog phone converters to my wireless network. Simple installation CD, made even easier if you have a Cisco Router (which bypasses the need to manually add a security code by using a button on the router to search for the bridge). Note this is a bridge and not a wireless access point or extender; I.E. it is intended to hook up any wired network device to an existing wireless network.

My ISP gives out 2Wire routers/modems with their service (AT&T) and it took me a while to figure out why the WET610N would have trouble working very well.It would appear to be connected. I could bring up the interface from both sides. Computers connected to it would get an IP address and could bring up the interface. Other computers on the network not attached to the WET610 could also bring up the interface. You would think everything would work fine. However, I could not browse the internet (for very long) on anything connected to the WET610N. It would work for a few minutes and then it would just stop. It was kind of unclear why.Then, I tried it with a Netgear router instead and it worked perfectly.Technical support seemed to be unaware of any problem with 2Wire. They knew what brand router I had and all they wanted to do was reflash the firmware on the linksys.I've tried this in two locations with two different 2Wire router models and neither worked very well. However it works fine in a non-2Wire network.
