this replaced a linksys WRT G because my ipad 2 was very slow in responding . well i was very pleased with it and i used the same password from the old one . I did not use the auto setup i went in manually and it was very easy.

I have 2 bridges, one in the living room and one in the basement. Maybe my house is to large or maybe I have too many walls, but the bridge works in the basement well and in the living room works part time. I'm about 25 feet from the router (ES4200) for both of the setups. Today I'm going to hard wire the living room to the switch I have set up in the basement and set the bridge downstairs closer to the router eliminating the bridge in the living room. If that doesn't work, I'll hard wire to the router. Of course I bought the both bridges to eliminate the need to hard wire. I'm really putting it on the router. It's the best that Cisco offers for the home and the advertising lead me to this combination. Am I a happy camper, nope, not really.

Where do I begin? This is a very poor design. In order to use all of the features this claims to have you have to use their "Easy" Connect software for dummy's to configure the router and then configure the advanced settings using the regular method of connecting to the router with a browser. You cannot configure all of the settings using a browser (like the public hotspot). If you save any changes using a browser you can no longer use the Connect software unless you reset everything to defaults. Great thinking guys!!! I was hoping this would be fixed in a firmware update. I just flashed to the current level and all it did was break DNS forwarding which was previously working. They no longer have the old firmware on their download site so I am stuck with a crippled router. They keep on trying to make these things easier to install but they have now crossed the line and made this totally unusable for any who wants to use the advanced settings. The connect software does work but all it does is ask for a few simple wireless names and settings and that is it. And again, if you connect to it with a browser and save any changes you cannot go back to the Connect software and make changes to things like the public hotspot, etc. I believe they farmed out the design and support another company (and a poor one at that).To see how much Cisco really cares about the quality of this product just take a look their online users guide. There are probably a hundred screen shots of configuration screens that look like someone took with a very bad cell phone, not one of them is readable. I am actually embarrassed for Cisco. They are so big they no idea the quality of some of their smaller products has gotten so poor.The main reason I replaced my d-link router was to get better wireless coverage. The N-Wireless did improve, but just a little bit. The G-Wireless got much worse.If you just plan on installing a firewall and want to use the 2 minute setup and not really use any of the advanced features then this will work but you are much better off getting just about any other router out there in the $50 dollar range.And stay away from the 1.00.01 Firmware update.

I bought this Linksys E3000 router at Amazon.com on 15th of May 2010. I opted for free shipping but I've to wait for 10 days to receive it. Amazon.com doesn't really give you a break when it says free - you have to pay, somehow. I'm giving Amazon.com a 4-star rating for this. I did not use Cisco CD to set up the router, lest I might be one of those having horror stories. I may not be able to take advantage of what's in it. But if it's only about Parental Control & be able to give visitors safe access to my wireless network, this is not an issue for me. Linksys E3000 router does not have a very good range. The 5GHz is only good with LOS range but can not very well get through walls, hence in my case a very short range. Honestly, I measured 50 feet from 1st to 2nd floor rooms with doors opened. Beyond that my new MacBook which has a good range & can pick up my neighbor's wireless network could not reach my 5GHz, at 60 feet. I challenge Cisco to come to my house if the company does not believe me - Cisco is just next town from me. The 2.4Ghz has fairly good range. But my old WRT54G was much better because I installed extended antenna. This E3000 cannot have antenna extension, we are stuck with what it has. But speed is very good if connected. My PC desktop using Ethernet cable cat 5e or Cat 6, shows a speed of 1.0 Gbps. Wireless MACbook shows 300 mbps & 144 mpbs for the 2.4GHz.Today 09/01/10 I removed the installation instruction portion in this comments. And I am replacing it with my experience with this router since I bought it. It is horrible experience - I lost a lot of important Internet work. The router when it gets hot just drops connection. I placed underneath a CPU fan but when the whether gets to 85+ degrees the fan doesn't hold up & I would lose the Internet. I thought at first it was Comcast connection failure. In SF Bay area we seldom have hot days. When we do for few days it will take me to unplug the power for 30-60 minutes before I can power it up to get connected. No use plugging it back thought until the whether gets cooler. So folks it's your call .

I purchased this to replace an old Linksys wireless-G router. I had been very happy with the durability and ease of use of my previous router and decided to stick with Linksys. I am very pleased with this E3000 router as it has made a significant difference in the speed of the wireless devices I have connected to it. In addition to the primary desktop, I have a wireless printer, another desktop, a laptop, and XBox 36O all working off this router. With the old router, when on Xbox Live and playing games on the other desktop in the same room, the speed had been slow and sometimes either system would freeze up. This has not occurred at all in the two weeks since we have been using the E3000. The set up was extremely easy. The only additional step I hadn't anticipated, and had to research troubleshooting help to solve, was to have to reboot my Time Warner cable modem to get it to work with the new router. Other than that it was just plug and play!

I own two of these units for different areas of my house. One unit I purchased a year and a half ago and it's still running strong today. The second unit I purchased since I loved the reliability of the first one. I've tried other cheaper wireless gateways in the past and have been disappointed with performance and the need to cycle power. I have never needed to cycle these units. This device is well worth the cost. My only complaint is that Cisco marketing insists on calling the device a "gaming and video adapter."

Had a really bad experience with this one like so many others.It falls over like a one legged drunk trying to surf. Cisco support told me I had to pay them for support after wasting 10 mins of my time. After angry email exchanges they agreed to try tech support on it (the highlight of which was telling me it could not act as a cable modem - not that I would have tried). Tech support obviously know this is a turkey as she offered the usual firmware and reset advice, which I already had covered and set me up for a return.We'll see if they charge my credit card for the express return.In short DO NOT BUY this router unless you love speaking to customer support and being asked for more money.

I've used this router for nearly a year and have had very few issues. Once every several weeks I need to power it down and up again for failure to connect to the internet...what system for this cost doesn't require this? The range is very good...Netflix on an iPad at the far end of my house on the another floor looks great. We have 4 people in our household with wireless devices plus 2 desktops and an Apple TV2...it handles the load.

Update 10/31/10:This product has worked *flawlessly* for a year straight! Highly recommended without reservation!Update 10/2/09:New firmware update available from Linksys 8/31/09 (I went from 1.0.01 to 1.0.03 today). After applying new firmware, the reported signal strength increased significantly. So did the consistency and reliability of pings (previously would vary between 2ms and 410 ms as well as skip an occasional ping - now consistently below 5 ms!). I would recommend this product, but be sure to be running firmware 1.0.0.03. This update may address some (but not all) of the issues that previous reviewers experienced.Original review:Quick shipment from Amazon. As much as I dread Setup wizards, I used the wizard supplied on the CD-ROM, which I ran from my laptop, which is connected wirelessly via the wireless router. Connected bridge to router with the supplied straight-through Ethernet cable. The wizard quickly detected available wireless networks (I selected mine - not my neighbors'). Asked me for passphrase (it knew I use WPA2 encryption) for router (Linksys WRT54G), waited a bit, then wizard told me to disconnect bridge from router and then connect the bridge to my remote device (in my case - a home-theater-in-a-box) (HTIB) with an wired ethernet connection. A bit later, wizard announced setup finished. Instantly able to watch streaming Netflix and listen to Pandora on the HTIB.Prior to running wizard, I added the MAC address of the bridge (it's on the underside of the unit) to the allowed list of "PCs") on my router's list of allowed MAC addresses. Second, I ensured that I had a sufficient range of DHCP addresses dispensed by the DHCP server on my router (total of 3 - one for the laptop, one for the wireless printer, and now added a third for this bridge). Third, I had my router passphrase readily available to supply to the wizard.I think that since I was well prepared, the setup was flawless and quick. I totally understand why wizards are used - they're for novices to easily set up their stuff. In this case, I think it took the wizard less time to set up the device than it would have if I were to have chosen to set up the bridge manually (which is an undocumented option). A novice would have a struggle with a manual setup, I'm sure.Signal strength on the bridge indicates to be a bit weak for business use, but for home use, it's working great for my sole application. One could certainly add more devices on the bridge side by connecting the bridge to a switch to provide additional Ethernet ports. Of course, the bridge will pass DHCP info to any device connected to any such switch. And of course, no address needed for a(n) (unmanaged) switch.The only thing I'm uncertain about is this product's longevity. I did have an early Linksys WRT54G totally fail on me, but I'm hoping that having placed my current one on a UPS, this won't happen again. I have confidence in current Linksys products.I hope Amazon buyers find this review helpful.I recommend this product.

Linksys used to be the best brand of router on the marker bar none. Now they have very poor customer service and the product are getting to be junk. I tried to used online support and the first connection got disconnected. I got back in touch with them and was able to finally get some answers out of them. This is a pretty good router but no better that my old WRT54-G you would think technology would be up to date in these new router. I just do not see it. Do your homework and check in with consumer reports before buying something you will wish you had not bought.

I purchased this router in hopes that I would get better performance when gaming compared to my 5-6 year old linksys router. The router performed perfectly for the first week, then began having horrible lag spikes every 10 seconds or so whenever using the internet or gaming. I am now back to using my old router, after returning this product, and it is working adequately. I was very disappointed with this router because I had done lots of research before my purchase, and the router would have been perfect if not for the horrible lag spikes. I am sure this issue can be fixed, but I am not willing to wait for a software update or whatever needs to be done and will be purchasing a different router.

This is a great addition to a wireless N network. I removed the triple antenna Belkin wireless card and replaced it with this. Huge improvement. I put one of these at the opposite end of the house and hooked the other up to a Night Owl DVR. I did however have issues with my email account. If you have any issues sending or receiving email, make sure you have the latest firmware upgrade (1.0.04). Until I did this, I was unable to send email through my POP3 account and would get server interrupted messages. Unfortunately, I was doing other upgrades at the same time, so I was unsure what the issue was for most of a day.

Background:I just wanted the faster router I could find. And this was the fastest Best Buy had.The Good:Fast yes.The Bad:The router resently stopped allowing my computers to talk directly with each other. when using their online support they person on the other end was useless and slow. waisted an hour. He said to call the 1-800 number. They gave me someone from india who didn't know jack about computers. However she did say. We see from our records that you started using this router over 6 months ago which means it is out of warranty. Would you like to pay $70 for help?!Last time I had an issue with an Apple product they gave me someone who knew what they were talking about, who them gave me a free product.The moral of the story buy Apple products whenever possible. They actually have real customer support.

I have read some of the reviews before I bought this router E3000 and was almost not going to buy it because of the bad reviews. So I want to write a review to help people understand this wireless router.There are only 4 things inside the box when you first get it. The router, setup disk, Ethernet cable, and power brick. There is no instruction manual I don't really think you need one the instructions are on the setup disk. First you have to run the CD first than follow the on screen instructions. It just basically tells you the timing for when they want you to plug in a connection and diagnose if it is working and installs the Cisco Connect program.YOU CAN USE THE CISCO CONNECT PROGRAM AND THE ADVANCE SETTINGS .I have looked online from reviews from both amazon and other websites and the major complaint is that you can't use both but you CAN. I have experimented a little bit with the advanced settings (also accessible through 192.168.1.1) that you can access through the cisco connect program under router settings. So far from the changes I made, the only setting that you can not change in the advanced settings, that will disable the cisco connect program is the settings for the 2.4 GHz wireless settings either the Network Name (SSID) or the passphrase. You can change the settings for the 5 GHz and can still access Cisco Connect. The reason why so many people want to change the SSID is because the Cisco Connect program assign you a silly random name, mines was quickdolphin for example. I think that might be the main cause of some of the bad reviews. If You want to change the 2.4 GHz SSID and still be able to use both cisco connect and the advance settings change it only through the cisco connect program under Router settings/ Personalize there you can change the router name and password after that change whatever you want in the advance settings. If at any time you cannot access the cisco connect program than you can just reset the router and just go through the installation CD again. You can turn off the guest access and the parental control is there if you need it in the cisco connect. This router can do amazing speeds.

After much research, I purchased this recently from my local military exchange to replace an older (and getting flaky) 54AG router. It installed very easily using the supplied software. It did not recognize my 2 wireless PS3's but that is probably because I added them directly rather than using the suggested method which entailed connecting via ethernet cable first, regarldess of planned on final use. That approach just did not seem to make a lot of sense. I only have one item (ipad) which supports "n" but set up a separate SSID for 5.0 channel for it and seems to work fine.I have seen some slight increase in speed but am limited by my ISP (6M down, 1M up)as well as older hardware which only supports 10/100 ethernet speeds.I have the router mounted high on the shelf over my desk at home and so far it seems to run fairly cool even after heavy PS3 online use. Maybe this has to do with the current winter weather. Will be interesting to see what happens this summer in the wonderful Memphis heat.I held my breath while it did an update but guess I was lucky as no problems. Did notice that all other devices should be disconnected before an update. Maybe that is why some people have had issues.Would recommend to anyone looking for improved wireless operation.

Have used the E3000 for a few weeks now and really love it. I picked it for 2 reasons: It was IPV6 capable and it had a USB port for adding net components. I was slightly disappointed that the USB can only be configured as net storage with a single USB hard drive and can't be used as a printer server but it has still proved to be useful.The "Guest Account" I didn't expect but has also proved useful because I can let visiting friends and selected neighbors use that to connect to the internet without being part of my home network. Could only give it 4 stars for Configurability because the guest account can only be managed with software and not through the web interface but that is a small quibble.All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

I've been using this device since about may of 2010. Like all Linksys products it's easy to set up and use. I bought this because I wanted to have the 5Ghz and @.4 Ghz bands running at the same time from one device. Up until January of 2011 I had very few complaints with the device. The speed was fast and all my devices worked. Then it happened. I started getting signal loss. Unless I was 10 ft away or less I could not maintain a connection to the router. I rebooted it and it would work for a short while. But ultimately the same problem would come back. I called Linksys support so I could get a case number for an RMA request. Linksys support had me change the SSID of my wireless network insisting that this would solve everything and there was no need for an RMA. When I ased for my case number anyway I was refused. " There is no need as the problem is now fixed." I explained to the technician that rebooting the router will fix it temporarily and that I had done this several times was useless. Now it's a 3day weekend and I will have to wait to get another tech on the line who will hopefully give me a case number so I can RMA the product. I'd still buy linksys again at this point, but they need to work on their tech support.

As a person with lots of professional computer experience I find the over simplified setup CD to be more pain than it is worth.To use this as a router - plug in to the proper ports and go. Oh, and turn on the firewall.To use this as an Access Point - that is a bit different.Go into the web interface by typing the IP address (192.168.1.1 by default) and then the username of "admin" and the password of "admin".Turn off DHCP.Be sure that you are patched into a regular port of the router, not the internet port.If you want to rename the wireless radios.Go to the Wireless Settings and select Manual.Only here can you rename the SSID of the radios using the web interface.I also recommend naming the 5Ghz radio different form the 2.4 Ghz radio.This way a dual band cilent can be forced over to the 5 Ghz radio for the greater throughput.All in all not bad, but the setup did take a bit of searching to discover things that Advanced users have taken for granted and Linksys has gone over-board to hide.

Worked just fine for 2 1/2 months, then it just wouldn't connect. My setup was to a Sony BluRay player. After talking to 5 techs at Cisco and doing all kinds of resetups and restarts (which all took about 3 hours!!!!), Cisco finally decided to send me a new one. Their tech support seem knowledgable enough, but they kept passing me off to different levels of techs. Each one basically had me run through almost all the same insane steps to no avail!!! If I could have got my money back, I would have bought a ROKU instead, thereby bypassing the whole Bridge/BluRay player thing. If this one fails, that's exactly what I intend on doing. And no I don't work for ROKU, but I do have one in another room and it works great.

for people who don't like running RJ-45 cables (LAN) all over the house , this is one of the best option for wireless connection. this is my third wireless bridge, and I simply live by them. easy GUI interface, and if you own a linksys router, is even easier to connect, by pressing a single button...

The router was easy to setup. It did assign a silly name, but if you follow the directions, you can change it. Not hard. WHEN IT WORKS the speed is great and multiple computers can attach without a performance hit. All great.HOWEVER, within two days we had problems with the wireless. Computers on our home network could see the router, and connect, but not get any internet connection. Unplugging the router for about 10 seconds and then plugging it back in resolves the problem, but that gets old really fast. At first we had to do this every couple of days, now, a week later we have to do it about every 12 hours.We had an older Linksys before this one that never dropped the wireless connection, although it was slower. I'm hooking it back up, and going to see if I can get the store to take this one back.

Being a Technical Customer Service Rep, I have always recommended either this or the WGA600N to my customers, so when I needed a Wireless Gaming Adapter I chose this first, it does everything I want it to do and effortlessly, set up was a dream and even the non-technical users would find it so easy, Cisco have done their homework with this. This is great for LG Smart TV's, DirecTV Satellite boxes as well as a host of other uses.

After about 10 months of owning this product, the Internet port on the router went bad. Despite being less than a year old with proof of purchase, tech support said this product was no longer under warranty and wanted to charge $35 bucks to troubleshoot the router. I wasn't about to pay money just to tell them that the router is no longer good. As many of the other reviewers have stated, the router runs extremely hot and I believe this is what eventually led to it's demise. Save your money and go with another product, this one is a POS.

Bought this 11n unit to improve the WiFi connection to my TV to stream movies. There was a marginal improvement but I was hoping for a much higher throughput compared with my 11g router. Range is definitely improved throughout the house; not as many weak reception spots, so I'm glad for that. My ISP service isn't fast, typically <5Mbps (as verified on a laptop placed next to the TV), but the effective throughput, as measured by the TV is <1Mbps on it's best day. If I can figure this out, my overall rating for this unit would increase. I know, I know, it sounds like a problem with the TV, but why then is the thoughput on the 5Ghz channel actually lower than the 2.4Ghz channel? There's no nearby competition in the 5G band. Oh well.The Cisco Connect software that came with the unit was pretty unnecessary as the router setup pages actually made more sense (at least to me). I've always bout Linksys routers and access points, so I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to others, but this 11n performance issue has me bugged.

This item worked great compared to my old router. Setup with the CD was quite impressive for novice users. BUT, after 1 month....power light started flashing and the item looked like it was reseting itself every 10 seconds. I called them up and they said they would send a new one. I waited one week for a new one and instantly after hooking it up the same problem...I doubt they even tested it out before shipping it to me!!! Over the phone they were super polite but refurbs only get a 30 day return...NEW items get a 90 day return. I have to say I wasnt impressed with the refurbs department but i guess that is what you get when you get a refurb. I bought a E4200.. Great range and IT WORKS..To Sum It All Up....DON"T BUY FROM CISCOS REFURB DEPT.

This new Cisco-Linksys router is without a doubt the fastest and most robust router I've ever owned. It absolutely blows away my prior Linksys WRT300N in both range and speed. I just transferred over 10GB of music files over the 5Ghz wireless connection in just over 20 minutes, without even a hiccup. From my basement where the router is located to the third floor, I get 80% signal strength and solid transfer speeds of 54Mbps over Wireless G. This router is a performance beast and I love that you can set up simultaneous dual band and get screaming performance on the 5Ghz spectrum. As with other Linksys routers, setup is fairly straight forward using the default IP address of 192.168.1.1, and the web interface doesn't force you into any tricky procedures that you sometimes get with other brands (D-Link, Netgear). You don't need the Cisco Connect software in order to set up the router, but if you're so inclined then the alternative is there. Some may say this router is expensive, but considering that six years ago you could easily spend over $200 on a Wireless B device the price is fair for such performance. Overall, I'm very impressed so far with this Cisco-Linksys and I highly recommend it.

I used the WRT610N successfully give my TiVos access the Internet for a while. It worked very well for that. I then tried to use it to connect two TiVos on my local network. This didn't work well as it would take a long time for the two TiVos to interact and it frequently timed out. This is with the latest firmware, ver.1.0.03.I packet sniffed the traffic going between the two TiVos and saw a lot of TCP transmission errors, always on packets of size 63 or less.After doing a Google search on WET610N and "TCP Checksum errors" I came across a number of pages. The most informational was this one which states that the WET610N is rewriting the TCP checksum and incorrectly including padding bytes. This is what is causing the errors:[...]As such I can't recommend the WRT610N. It will work in most instances since packet sizes of less than 64 bytes are rare, but the device fails to work correctly if you happen to run into devices or web sites that send packets of less than 64 bytes. Keep that in mind if you plan to purchase this.

The only negative is the price on this one, but I needed something that HAD to be reliable since I was using it on a live streaming job. So the price was not a big issue. I just looked at it as insurance.Setup was super easy. I love that it sets up a guest network automatically (which you can disable if you don't want it obviously).I've never seen such fast speed over wireless and the range is awesome.If it were not so expensive I would buy a few more for the home, but at this price it's going to be part of the streaming system and that alone.I can't recommend this router enough. I usually use Netgear and love the brand, have used TrendNet with poor results, and have mixed results with LinkSys (which is why I was a bit concerned about buying this since Cisco purchased LinkSys). But I'm very happy.

Got this adapter for use with a Linksys E4200 router and a DirecTV HR-24. The setup was not as straightforward as I would have liked and essentially had to reset the adapter and do a manual configuration with help the dbstalk.com forum. Once it was configured, the adapter seems to work OK.

This little device is one of those things that will either work automagically out of the box, or you'll find yourself banging your head against the wall while waiting for tech support to pick up the line.In concept, it should work great. Plug it in, run the setup CD, and connect it to your wireless device. The problem is, Linksys assumes you're using all Linksys equipment in your network. For example, the instructions on the setup CD reference buttons that my Belkin Wireless N+ router didn't even have. And since my router didn't have that button, I couldn't continue with the setup.I eventually upgraded to a much better Wireless N router from TrendNet (the TEW-691GR), and the bridge's setup CD worked as expected. However, even though the new Wireless N router is rated for 450Mbps, the bridge only pulls down at 5Mbps.I found this odd, because when I unplug the bridge and use my Playstation 3's internal wireless G card to connect to my wireless network, it's connecting at 15 - 16Mbps.I figured a Wireless N bridge with a Wireless N router would have a kick ass connection speed. Turns out, the PS3's Wireless G connects three times faster without the bridge.Maybe I got a dud bridge, or maybe this is normal. Oh well. At least I can return it.

Small and capable wireless router, doesn't seem to overheat. The stock firmware is OK, but it's perfectly compatible with DD-WRT, too, which has a lot more features. The two radios are useful, I've configured a 5 GHz (less interference from neighbors' devices) N-only network for our laptops, and a 2.4 GHz b/g/n network for phones and guests. I don't normally care about the looks of electronics but this router is noticeably pretty.

Wow, the Cisco E3000 is a gem and I am thrilled with it. It's my fourth wireless router and the first one to provide completely reliable wired and wireless connectivity to a plethora of devices without needing to be constantly rebooted. It even actually gets a 300Mbs connection from my Wireless N laptop running Windows 7 Professional when I am seated in my living room about 15 feet from the router.Set up is as easy as it gets if you follow the instructions. I recommend that you do follow the instructions step by step even if you are experienced with router set up. Install the first PC from the supplied CD, create the "Easy Setup Key" on a USB flash drive (this is not supplied with the E3000) and use it to set up the other PC's on your network practically plug and play. This will get you up and running in minutes with WPA encryption enabled by default and insure that "Cisco Connect" is installed on each PC. Without "Cisco Connect" you won't be able to control your guest network so you need it. Once everything is working with the basic setup you can use Advanced setup to add advanced features as you need them like DDNS, port forwarding and MAC address filtering etc. However, if you change the SSID or password you will no longer be able to use "Cisco Connect", I knocked it down one star for that and hope that they will soon correct it.If you have or are planning a home network for all those gadgets that need internet access like PC's, Play Stations, TV's, DVR's, iPods, Wii's, and on and on, this is the router you want to have.Note Added 5/11/2010On 5/4/2010 Cisco released an update for Cisco Connect and a firmware update for the E3000 router. After installing both updates I brought up Cisco Connect and changed both my password and the SSIDs for both the 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands. It automatically reset these items in the Advanced settings menu accessible via a Web browser and prompted me to update my "Easy Setup Key". Thus, I consider the problem that most everyone including myself complained about to be solved and I have upgraded my rating to from 4 to 5 stars.

I received the Cisco-Linksys E3000 High-Performance Wireless-N Router from Amazon yesterday (9-8-10). When I tried to set it up, using the included software, it failed to install properly. I next went to what Cisco euphemistically calls their "on line chat room" where I spent almost three hours agonizingly trying to communicate with some technical assistant on line. The back and forth communication was very slow and I would often have to wait for minutes before I got the next text response. It was clear, even from the limited text I was receiving, that the technician was not a native English speaker. After this time period, the technician finally called me by phone, and had me try some additional things. I had to ask him to repeat several instructions because his English was difficult to understand. He acted annoyed when I had to ask him to repeat his instructions. Eventually he decided that the unit was defective and he sent me, via e-mail, instructions on sending the unit back. An interesting thing about the return is that I was responsible for the expense of returning the router. After Cisco receives the defective router they will send me a replacement. I shipped the unit off to them via UPS today and had to pay $16.19, which annoyed me a great deal. I am also planning on sending a letter to Cisco complaining about their policy of making the customer pay for the return of a defective product. I don't yet know how well the E3000 router works, but I can tell any potential buyers that if you get a dud, you are going to undergo a lot of frustration from this organization.

I wasted several hours trying to set this thing up. This is the second Cisco product I purchased recently and both turned out to be equally difficult to set up and inferior in other respects; will stay away from it in the future.The bridge comes with a setup CD that only works with Windows or MacOS, not Linux. You are led to believe that you can only set it up from the CD. I wanted to use it with a Linux box but no problem, I also had a Mac book. I ran the CD, got to the point when it was supposed to find wireless networks but this step took forever without a single network found, so I had to give up. Ran a google search, found that it also had a web-based configuration utility, spent another hour reading web pages and manuals until it finally worked. I can only imagine how long it would take me if I didn't go through similar ordeal when configuring a cisco router.

I've had this wireless router up and running for over a month now. Setup was very easy. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine. This replaced a 10yr old Linksys router and 8 yr old wireless b access point for me so you can imagine my speed improvements are pretty awesome. Streaming movies on my wife's iPad and on the Wii via Netflix is very good. Movies don't take very long to buffer, and we're not experiencing interruptions like we used to. I'm also very happy with the range. I have this set up in our basement, but have not had any trouble picking up a solid signal, even in our backyard. Overall I'm very happy with this so far.

purchased a linksys AE1200 wireless USB adapter and E1200 wireless router. Easy to install.So far it has worked very well. Speed is good and no dropped signal yet.

I was having constant problems with a wireless adapter I purchased a couple of months ago. The IT guy at work seems to like Linksys products, so I took a chance and purchased the AE1200. I couldn't be happier. Fast, reliable connection (faster than any other adapter I've put on this machine).

Cisco connect config is awful. I went back to a manual config via 192.168.1.1. I am having low signal problems with two boxes upstairs in my home. I had no such problems with my previous router, WRT54G. This router also runs very hot. I had to put it up on a stand to get air flow to the bottom of the router. Poor design.Another weird problem is one of the laptops has an Acer monitor. When I plug in the Acer monitor cable, I get a message that Windows needs a certificate to log on to my network.I also had to get online support because the router needed a firmware upgrade.I would have been better off performance wise and expense just buying another Linksys WRT54G router. I don't recommend this E3000N.I decided to upgrade to the E3000N because I have a new high performance laptop that would be able to take advantage of the N speed. Alas, it didn't happen.

As a certified 'senior' who's never dealt with a router before, I had absolutely no trouble setting up and getting connected. My 6 year old desktop is not wireless. My goal was to get a new laptop up and running via the router. By simply inserting the CD, I followed the instructions with no difficulty at all. I used a Memory Stick with data already stored on it, to then connect to my laptop. In less than 15 minutes both computers were up and running. The laptop is much faster than my desktop so I'm thrilled with that! (I live in a two story home and have had no connectivity problems from anywhere within the home; I haven't tried taking the laptop outdoors, but I doubt I ever will!)Hopefully, my satisfaction is not short-lived and the router will give me a few good years.

gave my old 3000 to my daughter when she moved out so she did not need to set up a new one. Had no trouble with that one once I elevated it for more ventilation. Same story with my new 3000. Same story also about unable to keep the 5ghz up.

this baby here great for a admin like me that have full control over the network iv been with linksys for yrs an i have own the 2 highest now i have this one i can lock the box an have guest access on for any neighbors can join anytime with out no wurrys no problem setup took awile for me get use to but i guess new things take time thou i set all my wireless signle mhz to 24-40 an the 2.4mhz set to channel 11 an the 5.mhz to auto soo make it alot better to send the rang further this rang here can go up to 2-3 houses down a little an also have netflix run allday an ps3 high gaming an web surfing all day with worrying of slowdown became this made to do multitask streaming alots of things soo recommended for a big family size! like 3-4 an up for kids game console! an parents web surfing an watching Hd youtube an stuff!

Every time I would turn the router on it would shut down my desktop computer. It did not have a problem with the other 2 laptops, so, after 2 days of trying different procedures in addition to talking with live support, I conclude that it was not compatible with my desktop wireless card. With the desktop off and then being able to run the "connect" software, I found the installation to be woefully inadequate. I have been repairing and upgrading computers for over 20 years and this installation procedure is not for any "level one" user.

There is a known issue where the AP will not hand off a requesting devices DHCP request to a DHCP server. Cisco home community forums speaks of the issue. I found out after installing the device and running into the problem when my WII would not get an IP address, nor will my HTC Droid incredible. Cisco has not released an update for the issue.

First off, I consider myself to be a hardcore gamer. You'll usually find me playing Call of Duty for 5 hours a night after work. I've been looking checking out router reviews for months now and I normally get a Belkin but this one ended up changing all that. My old router was a Belkin N1 Vision with lcd display and it was great and all but it would need to be restarted every so often. The E3000 not only has a setup program for beginners, but it also has a super fast connection. My old Belkin used to pull 16MB download and 4MB upload and I thought that was great. Once I installed this router though, those numbers jumped up to 24MB download and 4MB upload. I'm not saying that it'll do the same for you considering the fact that everyone has a different connection, modem, and location but it will certainly help it. I'm currently running on a cable connection through Comcast and a Motorola Surfboard Xtreme Modem. Trust me when I say this, as someone who knows a fair deal of knowledge with electronics and someone that does months worth of homework, this modem is worth the price. The only con that I have is the heat that it generates but that's something that can be addressed with corks. I purchased four corks from Lowe's Home Improvement that are an inch thick and I super glued them to the corners underneath and that has solved the heat build-up.

I have to say, it was hard for me to write this review because just to relive the experience of trying to get this thing to work causes me agita. I have to say this is the worst customer service, bar none, that I have ever received. I have a Mac and my installation disk (which is needed to connect the equipment to the wireless) needed replacing. I spent 2 hours online, another hour with tech support, went through endless cycles of "press 1" options, and was promised a new disk. After 4 weeks got a blank CD-R disc with the model number written on the sleeve. No data. Called again, went through another round of phone maze, was promised another disk. I received the same blank disk. Happened AGAIN, and this time I'm calling it quits. Not worth it, trying to break through the "Brazil"-like bureaucracy. I'm on the search for ANY product other than a Cisco-Linksys one.
