The camera looks nice but the video quality is very poor. I would suggest spending the extra money for a good cam.

I purchased this webcam so my stepdaughter could webcast her sister-in-law's baby shower for my wife. My stepdaughter is in California and her mom and I are in South Carolina. It did the job. The video worked great, although there were some issues with the sound being interrupted. I think another program was running at certain intervals and that was the culprit, not the webcam itself. It did the job we wanted it to do and now we enjoy video conferencing with our stepdaughter regularly.

It worksAnd the clip is handyThe focus works wellBut if you have Vista, you have to work out some serious problems as it keeps crashing the computer. But once that is fixed, it works very well.Just dont use the software it comes with, download software from their website.Overall, great camera.

Very disappointing results from this camera. For about the same price the microsoft camera blows this away. Terrible video quality, horrible lag. the good reviews on this camera must be from people who have no comparison to a good one. Logtitech should remove this from there product line. Don't waste your money like I did.

I picked up this webcam on trial, and am planning on returning it. Setup with Mac (Leopard) was basically plug-n-play. Picture quality was my main issue. Washed out, no color depth, not clearly focussed (even with several tries, under different light conditions). Not bad for the price, but not quality of my former QuickCam Messenger.

I bought a Dell 1420N with Ubuntu 7.04 installed and pluged this cam in hoping it would work right out of the box as many things seem to do in Ubuntu but it didn't. Then Ubuntu issued their recent update to 7.10 which must of incorporated v4l2 in the kernel. After I updated it worked. I've set it up with Ekiga the video phone that comes with the Dell Ubuntu's default installation. The Dell Ubuntu computer is Great but I wish Logitech would not make it so hard to use there products. Of course I found this out after I bought it.

I installed this on a Presario V2000 laptop and have had a perfect experience with it. It clicks right on the top, and comes with a handy little case which I put it in when I travel. I use it with Skype and also MSN Messenger, and I get good reviews from people on the other end.It's got plenty of adjustability, including an easy manual focus, just like on an old-fashioned camera, which lets it get a very clear picture.

Picture quality is very good. Clips on to my new Dell Inspiron E1405 easily after I modified the clip rubber inserts by replacing the back to the front and front to the back. The software works with Vista right away, did not install corretly with XP. When I use it with Skype in XP the sound would make an annoying static sound for 3 seconds every minute or two. Uninstall and reinstall the software did not solve the problem. I finally reinstalled the whole XP OS, install the webcam software, then the XP updates. That fixed the problem.My complaint is the cord is harder than typical electronics cord. They should have made it soft and flexible like a stereo headset cord. The cord's firmness is enough to move the camera when you open and close the laptop lid.Make sure your laptop has sharp angles on the lid, this camera will have a hardtime clipping onto some laptops with rounded lids.

Ditto on the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) reviews that I've seen for this product. I had read the warnings before buying, but I have a relatively new, mainstream PC that I have never had a single problem with, and figured I would be ok. The price was right.I installed the software (which checks online for newer versions than what is on the CD...there was none), plugged in the device when asked to by the on-screen prompt, and the machine immediately gave me a BSOD. When I restarted, the machine would not boot due to a missing DLL file...I went through the recovery process with the Windows XP installation CD (took 30 minutes but seemed to repair the system perfectly), and when I restarted the machine after the recovery I left the webcam plugged in. I assumed that the recovery would have refreshed any conflicted files and/or drivers, but soon after boot (I later realized that this was when the install program tried to resume) I got another BSOD.Finally I wised up, unplugged the hardware, and restarted the machine (no corrupted OS this time, thankfully). The installation software again tried to continue and asked me to plug in the device...I chuckled and politely refused, and it crashed soon after. Windows XP crash reporting informed me that Logitech had informed Microsoft of a solution to this problem...I needed to install the software from their website. I downloaded it, tried to install it, and got a message that my currently installed version was newer than the one I was trying to install. It was the last straw...I had given this webcam the benefit of every doubt...so I sent it back.As mentioned in several other reviews...install at your own peril.

As a linux user, I've all too often run into poor hardware support from vendors who only know of or support ms windows, so it was with some trepidation that I recently looked for a reasonably priced webcam. When I saw the logitech quickcam chat, I figured it was hard to go too far wrong for the price, but as it turns out, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it works fairly nicely, and it was surprisingly little fuss to set up.I merely followed the instructions in the suse webcam wiki at http://en.opensuse.org/HCL/Web_Cameras and I was up and running in a few minutes, chatting with kopete on a yahoo connection to a friend in another state.I rate it at 4 stars only because the quality of the images is not as good as it could be - but for a cheap webcam it's perfectly acceptable.

This is a great buy. Especially since it has both a mike and camera in one. We used it to talk to family in Costa Rica and we could all participate at the same time and get in the picture.

Guess those who say the webcam is good are first timers!!! this webcam is just too blurry and get worse under low lighting conditions.. the item says its 640 X 480 pixels.... thats wrong the best is 320 X 240!!! Even that is not clear the grainy image is enough to spoil your day.. one of the worst logitech products.. don't even know why its sold in the it stores.. this should be contraband from the IT world, real big flop...real big flop its lesss than 1/5.............

First of all I had to go onto the website for instructions on how to install the software and driver for Windows Vista users. Finally I got it up and running after about a half hour. The webcam didn't track hand movements very well and the video came out really blurry. My built in laptop webcam was much better in that regard. It's good for someone who stays still and just speaks into the video. The camera didn't fit on my laptop and kept falling off, which got really annoying. After a few hours of recieving this product it's now boxed up and ready to be returned.

A bit smaller & simpler than anticipated, but can't complain for the price paid. The installation CD was missing some files which I fortunately was able to download from the Logitech website.I can't wait to tryout its video capabilities.

Excellent video and audio. Very convenient size. The only thing that I don't love about this webcam is the clamp. It's a bit awkward to clamp it to the top of the laptop monitor. Nevertheless, I recommend the QuickCam without reservation.

I got a good deal on this one. The Camera works well with SKYPE, MSN Messenger. I like the 6" webcam stand which comes with it. If you want to make full use of the features and effects that this camera has to offer you have to install the Logitech software, Overall a good webcam to own.

This is a relatively cheap webcam for what you get. The software works well and the camera's picture and sound are good also. You experience some delay in picture time, but that's to be expected. Overall, great product for a great price.

Stay away from this puppy! Has not worked from day one and even though it says that it is compatible with WIN2000 and with YM and Skype, it keeps on crashing the system after a few moments and even after downloading the most recent firmware/drivers and software, refuses to work.Have tried contacting Logitech tech support and not a peep out of them. Might as well stick with a no-name brand and save your money!

I really like this camera. The only drawback I found is that you can not tilt/move the camera sideways after it is fixed on the laptop screen. You can move it upside down (but not left to right or vice versa). There are several other cameras including some from Logitech which let you do that. You would be better off getting something which you can move sideways and/or upside down. Right now, I have to move the whole laptop left or right to adjust the picture.

I just love my new webcam. The quality of the image is great. What I really loved is the feature it has with the illumination. It doesn't matter if you have direct or indirect light, the little camera adjust it automatically for you and everybody can see you clearly. The installation is very easy to follow and it upgrades the software for a better experience when installing it. I did not have any problem. I love the size, it is just perfect for when I travel especially because it also bring this cute little carrying case that protects it. Stick your camera and wires there and you are ready to go! I also liked the fact that it includes a little stand for when you don't want to clip your camera to your laptop. This is just an awesome addition because you can easily use it with a desktop too. Disadvantage? The camera is kind of expensive though, but it is better to invest in something good than buying something cheap then regret it because you will eventually end up buying something else, besides Amazon has a better price than if you want to buy it from Logitech's site, almost a 100 bucks, so you better buy it here.

I was disappointed with the video noise level. It is really high. In addition, the clip does not attach the camera to a notebook or a flat panel very well. I suggest investing a little bit more and buy a higher quality camera.

I really liked the ease and afforability of this web cam, so much so, that I bought one for my grown kids, and my elderly mother! All were able to install with no problems, and it is so much fun to see each other, when we all live in different parts of the country! The only thing I didn't like about it was, when I tried to install it on a different computer, my other computer couldn't seem to get it to work. But, that was probably more my own computer issue, rather than the camera's.

Ok, let me start by saying that this is a fantastic camera. The clarity of both live feed and stills are incredible even in low/uneven light, sound is great even if just using the cam mic, it's very small and portable, clip works great, the numerous features are very intuitive and user friendly, etc., etc. In short, the engineers were on top of their game with this one.On the other hand, the software designers were not. The issue is that the mic driver is actually very glitch-y. To start, I had to install the software 2 times before it registered the driver at all. Then, after fighting with Yahoo! Messenger for about an hour, I realized that the driver is actually not compatible with Yahoo! Messenger, so it kept freezing up and losing connection and such. It works fine with AIM Triton and works spectacularly with MSN Messenger, though.In short, this camera can be a bit frustrating to get working right if you're not familiar with the quirks associated with the mic driver but once you get it up and running, it's definitely worth the $70 you can get for on Amazon (I wouldn't pay the $100 Logitech offers it for on their website); probably the best notebook web-cam on the market at the moment.

I was excited about the webcam with all the great reviews. I was particularly excited about the built in speaker. The speaker is good part about this webcam. List of pitfalls I found so far1) I was showing my apt in the webcam. It froze couple of times. I used yahoo chat and google talk.2) It didn't capture anything when I pointed outside my apt. May be because it was cloudy outside?3) The self image was blurry. Didn't know if people on the other side had a clear picture.-H

My sister bought this webcam and she told me it was good. The price was reasonable. I got another one for myself. I had it for more than 1 year and have no problems with it. The webcam pictures and videos are clear. The audio is quality is very good, loud and clear.

Used this to keep in touch with family on business trip. Worked great. Detected backlights, poor lights, etc. Was able to use to connect with work as well. Clarity was good, not great - but for paying a total of $15 for camera and headset (per Amazon deal) - it's a steal.Recommend this camera if looking for a small footprint and easy to carry. Take along pouch is small and wallet size. Camera and "follow-me" link on software is good, but can get annoying with the constant resizing.Overall, recommend, especially at <$30 if you can get it.

I purchased this webcam for use with Skype on a Mac laptop. It was very easy to install and clips nicely to the screen. For use with Mac I had to install macam (http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/) for it to work. It is good, I did not give it 5 stars as with a lot of light the image is not great, but works very well in dim light.

To make it work with skype and if you don't care about visual effects:1) Download the latest Software from Logitech. During installation select Install drivers only. UNSELLECT ALL THE REST whatever it can be.2) If you get the blue screen: go to my computer>manage>Device Manager>Sound, video and game controllers. Disable Logitech Quickam Pro microphone. The camera microphone will not be available. Use the headphone or laptop microphone instead.EnjoyOther observationsThe camera works acceptable with skype through USB1 and with my Dell c610 at 1Ghz providing about 5 frames/sec.The statements that the camera becomes "hot" are highly exaggerated. I have an older and a more resent versions of this camera. Both get worm: slightly above the body temperature, but not "hot" by any means. Many of the laptop PCMCIA cards run much hotter.The image quality through skype is exactly the same as with Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision. My guess is that Logitech must be using the same image sensor and the same hardware. Potentially QuickCam Ultra of course has a much better image because of the glass lens. But unless you have internet connection with the speed of about 1 MBit/s on upload and a very fast computer you will not be able to take full advantage of the available image quality for remote communication with QuickCam Ultra.

I use this with both a PowerBook G4 and a Dell Inspiron. It says it doesn't support OS X but once I installed macam (http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/cameras/camera.php?id=435) it worked perfectly. Logitech support told me that the Quickcam Deluxe for Notebooks (note confusing reordering of words in the name) supports OS X.

The webcam is cool, small, portable, with high quality picture and good light adjustment software. I buy it for 43 and got 20 rebate so I think it worths. But if I have to pay the full price, I may rethink.The webcam is designed to attached to the notebook only. You cannot place it on the table. You cannot adjust the angle much either.

The webcam works as advertised - with really crappy lighting, it still managed to show my face comfortably, and worked well with various messaging software. The bad - on my Windows XP machine, with not much software installed and generally well-maintained, the software failed to install the drivers properly. Twice. I called the tech support (paying long distance charges), and after 20 minutes of waiting, got through. It took twenty more minutes for the support rep to get all my information - 20, I kid you not. And after that, she did not even bother to try out anything on my computer. Her advice straightaway - try to install it in another machine, if it does not work, call us back so that we can authorize a replacement. How could you not even try do get it to work on my current machine after spending so much time to get all the information out of me, I asked? Sorry, that's the policy. And I have to call you back on long-distance, and then wait forever to the muzak and then hope that you might authorize a replacement, I asked. Yes, she replied curtly and hung up. I had wasted too much time to try to just give up right then, so I tried a manual install of the drivers. Luck decided to favor me, and after indicating XP to look for the drivers in C:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCam10WebInstall, I was at last home. After the installation, it has worked like a charm, but you just have to pray that you never ever have to contact Logitech for their "support".

had trouble choosing but am glad i found this one. we got it for the kids to keep in touch with dad when he is on trips. they are toddlers so it had to be able to take their grabbing at it (it does). it took a little bit to get it working the first time with the online webcam messenger service but we got it figured out. and once we did it didn't need changing later on. the built in mic helped cut down on the troubleshooting. been using a year... also use it regularly for its mic while using online games. have to turn the gain down a bit because it picks up my voice so easily. the actual video quality is also decent. we've been happy enough i am buying a second as a gift for someone.UPDATE Jan 2010: I am STILL using this webcam. We used it this past Thanksgiving to get the entire family together. It was excellent! It worked well on a multi-cam video internet call. I've used it with various webcam services for conferences etc and have been happy every time. The one we bought as a gift is also still in use and they've been very happy with it as well. I definitely am a fan of Logitech devices. I've gotten their wireless mouse and now their wireless headset with mic and have been very satisfied with their consistency.

The camera has a fair image, but WHAT I could ask for this price.However, the integrated microphone is not good. You plug your camera and suddenly, the sound starts coming back (weird feedback) with annoyng sounds. I tried everything to fix it, but ended up bying a external microphone, which I did not want. That is why I will give 3 out 5 start to this camera.

I just bought it and checked it out. It is horrible. Apparently there is no such thing as a free lunch. It's cheap for a reason. The picture is grainier than the videos of bigfoot.

Since Apple discontinued the iSight line of cams and my Powerbook didn't have an internal cam, I thought I was out of luck. I noticed in one of the recent OS X updates that they added USB web-cam support, so I picked this cam up and tried it. Even though the packaging that it comes in only lists Windows compatibility, this works fine on my 1.67 ghz. G4 Powerbook. I have only tried it with iChat on the AIM network, since that is the only chat software I use, so I can't vouch for AIM or MSN Messenger, though it may work with them. you must be running version 10.4.9 of OS X for this to work, so run "Software Update" to make sure you have the most recent version.

This web cam broke soon after we got it. It is worth paying a little bit more for one that will last. Quality of picture was just okay but the construction is really bad.

I purchased one of these last week for my laptop based on the reviews I found here. Since it's a lower cost item I wasn't expecting more than basic quality, but I was very pleasantly surprised.The picture quality is absolutely excellent. The color on screen isn't all that true to life, but the clarity and the resolution of the picture was really good. We experimented with the still pictures and with making videos to email to friends last night. Both of those features work perfectly. The storage albums and the photo/video editing tools were also easy to use and worked flawlessly.I wasn't all that impressed with the face tracking. It does work, but I'm not sure it's that great of a feature. For certain, it's not good if more than one person is in the picture (not surprising) since it tries to center on one person and cuts the other person out. The feature can be turned off though and then you can put several people in the shot with no problems.I was expecting the size of the files to be a real problem for my email since I have dial-up at home. Again I was pleasantly surprised. I sent a 30 second video via email to a friend and it sent in only a few seconds. I also sent 5 of the photos in one email and that also sent instantly. I was thrilled with that based on previous experiences with other media files.Other people have commented on the clip being a terrible design, but it worked fine on my Dell laptop. It is a little odd to figure out, but once you do, it's a good design. (More instructions for that would be useful.) I do wonder how well the clip will hold up under repeated use long term (will it stay tight or will it eventually become loose and not hold anymore) but for now I'm satisfied.The size and appearance is also appealling. It was smaller than I'd imagined it would be when I researched it online. Kinda cute actually.The only thing I haven't tried yet is using it for online chat. I'll do that later this week when I'm on a high speed connection. Based on it's performance so far, I would expect that to also be a first rate experience. (I wouldn't expect it to be good on my dial-up, though I will try it and see when I get a chance.)The setup was simple and straightforward. I'm only moderately computer savvy and I had no difficulty at all in understanding the instructions or loading the software. Both the software and the device are very user friendly in my opinion.Overall this is a really excellent product for the price and I'd highly recommend it to anyone in the market.
