This product is designed for those who have a large monitor TV that also has an HDTV feature. It allows you to turn your TV into a SKYPE monitor, which is great if you are a SKYPE user or want to experience "live" conversations. Traditionally SKYPE is used on computers, smartphones and other devices which allow for video conferencing. The ability to use your TV is a nice feature as the device picks up more area, so with a large monitor you can literally bring the person you are talking to right into your room.The set up is very easy so there is no need to worry about being a tech-geek. Once you plug it in your TV connectors, it will walk you through the setup. You do need an internet connection to use the device. My set-up included the wireless feature and it was able to connect with no problem. Overall, it's a nice product to enhance your basic HDTV to complement traditional viewing.

I got this for my sister to Skype this Christmas season. We were able to get together on the 21st during our parties across the US from California to Oklahoma. We all got in the picture. Me with my Skype made for my LG TV (make sure you get the one made for the year of your smart TV and the make that matches) and my Sister with this product. I got to see my Sister, her husband, and some of the relatives. It was like we were all together. The only draw back is that you need to chose a time to call when everyone is not trying to use the Web. The quality is poor during peak hours. I have had coffee with my sister on several mornings, me setting in my living room and her in her computer room. It's allot of fun and mornings are a good time to Skype. We did the get together at parties in the late evening. She has had the camera now for several weeks, she was careful to not install all the media that came with Logitech's install CD. She did allot of research on the Web because the newer and higher Cam through Logitech caused critical shut down of her computer. This one has not, but be careful to not install what you do not need. If you Skype, you don't need all their software.

What I like:1- Setup is very easy. It just took a few minutes to get the thing up and running.2- The speakers are excellent. I could hear the other person quite well.3- It's easy to use. Just click to answer.4- It holds a reliable connection.Basically, it does what it is supposed to do, reliably, consistently, and easily. That's the core of what a device like this should be.What I don't like:1- There is no wall mount, and many people these days wall mount their TV.2- The sound kicks in and out, even as the video is steady. The person I was speaking to couldn't hear me at points.3- There is very little range of motion with the camera. If you expect this to move like an XBox Kinect, that's not happening. It moves a fraction of an inch in any direction.4- You sometimes need to sign back in, such as if you reboot your wireless router.5- It's 720p and these days, one expects at least 1080i.

I use a 27 inch TV as my monitor with a desktop computer running Windows 8.The part that was a little concerning was the webcam came in a vanilla envelope with no manual or CD or any other material. The mount clip on top of the TV just fine. The webcam itself can be swivel up and down.The part that simply worked was after plugging in usb cable, I did not even notice the usual "windows is installing driver" message. I thought it did not work, but fired up Skype anyway, and the webcam was already working. The microphone works well, it picked up not only my voice but also my wife's voice fairly clearly. My wife was sitting about 3 feet away from me looking at the new toy as I was setting it up. The quality of image on the other end (my daughter iPAD) was bright and clear. Comparing to a built-in webcam on my Toshiba laptop, it is literal night and day. We used to have to turn on a bunch of lights to be able to get enough ambient light for the Toshiba, but the Logitech webcam just somehow make it very bright and clear on the other end.So don't be concerned if you don't see any manual or CD if you are running Windows 8. It will simply work.

I'm reviewing this from the point of view of someone who has used nothing but cheap laptop webcams. However, I now have a desktop PC and needed an external webcam, and the Logitech seemed like a good choice, and a reputable brand. I also decided to pay $10 over its non HD counterpart.My initial reaction? I LOVE IT. The HD quality is extremely superb compared to any laptop webcam I've seen. When skyping with my friends, they all immediately noticed how crisp and well lit my video was.What you get in the box is the webcam, the drivers, and a HEADSET. I don't know where it said it, but I was pleasantly surprised to receive it. It's the around the back of the head sort, with a mic, and works perfect for gaming. However, it's for a computer, not a phone, as it has two jacks not one. The drivers I haven't installed since it's plug-n-play, meaning windows installs it without anything extra necessary. While others have complained about extra software, I have found none.My only complaint so far is the cable is slightly shorter than I want it to be. it appears to only be 5 feet, though 6 is the standard for most peripherals I believe. However it isn't worth a star.This product is a must buy for the price and the quality!

Length:: 1:36 MinsNote: the quality of of the .wmv format video this camera captures is MUCH higher than what this video review can depict. I had to use a lower resolution/lower quality setting in order to keep the output video file under Amazon's size limit. That and this site's own reformatting mean the full HD output can't be easily shown in a video review here.The Logitech C270 webcam offers users easy-to-use HD capability at a very reasonable price. If it's time to replace an aging webcam or upgrade from the typically low resolution hardware integrated into many laptops, this is an excellent choice at this price.Installation presented a small issue. Upon loading the software on the install CD (version 2.1, on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop), the language option failed to show language choices. Instead instead it showed strings of numbers. A visit to the Logitech website offered the updated version (version 2.3), which then offered a correct language option dropdown and then installed successfully. If you go online for the updated version, you'll have to choose between the "full" download (132 MB) and the "smart" download options (6 MB). I'm not sure what the difference is; I chose full, but your connection speed will probably drive your decision.The system software loaded in approximately five minutes, and offered an optional install of Logitech's proprietary video chat application (which I declined). The software detected that Skype was already installed on my laptop, and offered an option to launch the webcam controller software with Skype (which I accepted).I encountered a second issue with the camera software after install. At the beginning of each video recording session, I receive a "no microphone detected" warning...even though the microphone is appearing in Windows AND recording audio. If you get a similar warning, You'll figure out quickly enough that it can be ignored.The camera software offers immediate sharing options for sharing via Youtube and Facebook. In addition to real-time video conferencing, it will record video (.wmv format) and take still photos.The install bug was a one time annoyance, the erroneous microphone detection area is persistent (and the pop-up can be canceled).The camera works well in low light, and has software-driven "face-follow" and "motion detection" modes whose overall utility escapes me, but may be useful to more powerful users. It also has software-driven zoom controls.High def video for less than forty bucks. Even with some software annoyances, it's hard to go wrong at this price.

With Windows 7 this is a plug n' play camera with good picture quality. Required no effort at all to make a video call with Skype after plugging it in for the first time. It just works. I've used my 2008 Macbook's iSight for video chatting for years now and as soon I switched to using this webcam on my Windows 7 PC I got positive reactions about the increase in picture quality on every single call. The built in microphone works quite well with one little hitch. The microphone seems to not activate unless the camera is activated first. This has caused an issue when I've answered a Skype call as only an audio call. Doing this does not activate the video camera and therefore does not activate the microphone. This causes my friends and family to not be able to hear me. It's possible that this is a problem actually being caused by something else in the webcam but this is the only explanation I can think of. (It's easily fixable. Just activate the video in Skype so the microphone turns on then deactivate the video. The mic will stay on then) Despite this I'm still very happy with it.

We use this webcam with the recommended 2011 series TV, Panasonic VIERA TC-P50ST30 50-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV, and the results are exceptional when viewing our son who is teaching English in China and in turn, when he views us in Canada.However, we have still opted to send him a different model of Logitech webcam that will plug into his laptop - I feel that the built-in laptop webcam for our son probably will not do quite as well as an external webcam.My spouse and I just love the wideangle lens that allows us to talk longer when we are sitting in the TV living room on a comfortable couch and we periodically invite the inlaws and close neighbour over to chat with our son as well.I am so sold on this webcam that I have a pending order in my cart, Save for later, for an additional webcam when the price point is $50 or less, as this is a discontinued item. I could simply not bear not to have this product die without a replacement on hand!Our Panasonic TV comes with what I believe is a version of Skype for Panasonic TV and I am uncertain whether this is version is updated by Skpe, or if it differs from the Skype version that you download for your PC. I plan to call Panasonic at a later time to clarify.Our Amazon price on April 5, 2012 was $147.24, so the price of this product has been in free fall...

I've owned many Logitech webcams and, frankly, have never had a bad experience with any of them. Call me a Logitech fan, if you like, but in my opinion, they design and produce terrific products. With their webcams, they try to cover all price points, from the top of the line C920, which is n outstanding webcam, to the C270, intended for the budget conscious or those with less demanding needs. For people who want only what I will describe as "basic HD" webcam, the C270 is all you will need. It offers 720p 16:9 video in a small, highly portable package. The support software includes a very capable webcam controller, a special effects package which is fun if you have kids on one side or the other of conversations and a proprietary video chat application. You don't need the latter if you plan on using Skype or other chat or IM package. A word of warning, always download the latest software and drivers from the Logitech website: don't even bother loading the software from the included CD. C270 video is pretty good. Contrast and colors tend toward the flat, but the optical quality of the lens is excellent. The view is not wide-angle, but is more than adequate for one adult sitting at arm's length from the computer screen. There are four resolution setting from 360x240 70 720 standard. Still picture quality is acceptable, but on the soft side. The mounting bracket is very much simplified when compared to more expensive Logitech models. The camera head does not rotate or tilt, so you must hang the camera over the top of the monitor or screen and then angle the whole camera head toward you. This results in a mounting that doesn't seem all that secure, but in my location I have no vibration, so the camera remained still. The camera mount does a more than credible job if used as a stand on a flat surface. There is no provision for mounting the camera on a tripod. Overall, for someone seeking a basic HD webcam for use with Skype or similar services and who doesn't need wide-angle views or 1080p video, this is an excellent value.Jerry

I bought two of these devices, one for myself and one for my parents, so they could see their grandson grow up.Setup was incredibly simple. It did prompt for a firmware update almost immediately and I had to guide my parents through that as well as creating a Skype account, but it was fine once completed.Pros:- Easy to navigate menus- Great picture quality- Very sensitive mic- CEC compatible; so it wakes up the TV when a call comes in- Digital zoom and pan works greatCons:- Can't do a 3+ group call- Software sometimes freezes as well as other bugs such as the video freezing constantly until the device is hard reboot from the power cord.- Random dropped calls- Can't organize contacts list or filter (seperate work contacts from personal contacts for example)- No signal strength indicators on the callMy parents love the device and are quite impressed by the picture quality and ease of use. This is one of the few devices I have gotten them that elicited a "this feels like the future!" comment :)

I had an older Philips webcam that was all I needed, but I absolutely could not get Windows 8 Pro to recognize it. When I got this last night I tried loading the CD Software that came with it, but it didn't seem to be installing so I just plugged the webcam in (a single USB connection) and Windows 8 recognized it, installed the drivers and it was instantly recognized by the Windows 8 Camera and Video Apps and Skype. I used it for an hour long Skype video call and both the video and voice were flawless. That may just be a coincidence due to an unusually good network state for Skype that night or whatever, but all I can say is it was the best Skype call I've had. The only negative is that it may be that you won't be able to download the "additional software" on the supplied disc. Since I consider that bloatware (I just need this to work on Skype and Google+) I actually see this as a plus, but I guess some people may want tp use the disc. By the way, I'm using this on a 40" LCD TV that I'm using as a monitor and the USB cable was long enough to reach the computer in the lower cabinet of the stand (at least 36" away) and the mounting mechanism which is a folding plastic base was also simple to use.

Bought this over a mth ago and must I say, it is extremely a good purchase. Logitech always have good products and this one is nothing short of that. It's quite clear, the sound is fantastic: people always tell me that they can hear cars passing outside my house very loud that's how good it picks up sound. The picture quality is obviously not a 10/10 in poor lighting..becasue this is not a very new mmodel of Logitech's products but I dont mind at all. All settings are adjustable and it adapts as best as possible to any lighting. It sits comfortably at the top of my Toshiba laptop and can move up or down to focus on me while Im chatting. I LOVE IT. So am I pleased? Of course yes!! Don't be skeptical to buy like I am before purchasing any product...lol

I have a new Skype ready Panasonic Plasma TV and I had high hopes for this unit. I use a Logitech camera to Skype from my laptop and that has worked great. This one was recognized by the TV for almost one second, the picture came on during the setup and then a black screen. Any attempts after that nada. Then got a message saying we could still hear the audio only, portion of the call without video. But when trying to receive a Skype call the Panasonic Vierra Connect interface crashed all together. We had ordered this camera in hopes of Skyping with my daughter and her family in Thailand during a larger family gathering in our home. It was a bust. It was very disappointing to have this not work from the get go.The response from the vendor was poor also. Did not return my message within 48 hours per posted policy and I had to pay $7 shipping to have this defective unit returned. I have been an Amazon customer for 15 years (Amazon Prime for 5+) This is their first major fail and hence my first sour review!

We got the Logitech 960-000921 HDTV camera to make it easier to stay in touch with the grandparents, and from a purely functional standpoint the product has been a flawless performer. It's easy to use, and the quality of the images is nothing short of spectacular - even when the room lighting is less than ideal. In fact, I would offer that the Logitech 960-000921 image quality meets or exceeds the best corporate video conferencing system I've seen. The only downside we found with this product is that it can take longer to setup than the spare instructions would lead you to believe. There can be a lot of details and setting to attend to (camera, HDTV, audio, and PC), so be prepared to set aside some time to get everything up and running correctly.

We have been using skype with our parents overseas for the past 4+ years using computer and after just using this for a few days, we are extremely satisfied. While the cost of this device is a bit on the high side, the value that it brings in its simplicity and quality are well worth it.Pros:* Simplicity of setup and use - ideal for older parents* Quality of video - outstanding! Using the same slower internet connection in India, this device produces significantly better video, its not even comparable how much better this is.* Wide Angle - the whole family is in view* Use your TV - worth stating again. Makes it that much easier for elderly parents to use it on the larger TV screen* Works over wifi and ethernet. Quality over WiFi is very good.Cons:* You need HDMI on the TV - not a con per say, but you need to be aware of itIt comes with a simple remote, but next time I visit my family, I will be pairing this with a logitech harmony remote to make it an even simpler setup for my parents. And I will be buying another one for my wife's parents and one for us at home.

This is a great device for those who want to use their TV for skype chats. It doesn't do anything else besides that but it handles its particular niche very well. Setup and installation are easy and it provided a good picture, even over a not so good wifi connection. The remote is functional, the UI is fine although sometimes a bit slow. The only thing that would make it better is if there was a keyboard for skype text chat, but that would likely raise the price significantly and its already pretty expensive.

This is a great camera and worked beautifully once it was set up. The picture is very clear and bright. I gave it a 4-star because the setup manual was so bad. I had to call twice to get help, which was annoying. My mom who is in her 80s would have never figured this out on her own so if you're buying for the elderly, plan on setting this up for them.For those of you setting this up for the first time, you need to pull out the white tab to start it. Also, if you see a floating "Logitech" icon on your TV screen, press on the icon with a picture of a house on your remote control. This will get you to your main screen.

Highly recommend for those looking for an inexpensive but capable little webcam, especially those starting out. This little webcam has proven to be a very good value for its price. Its focus and light correction are good and its video and quality are quite reasonable. I've used it on several different computers, from a five-year-old XP laptop to a recent Vista desktop platform and have had no problems. The software is simple but the camera adapts readily to other software: I've noticed no problems with Skype and indeed it's very useful on that.

After owning and older, ancient, and rather crappy Webcam we bought this. You can't seem to go wrong w/Logitech. We are told that the picture is pretty clear (not perfect), but the voice is great and never cuts out. I do have a family member w/this exact Webcam, but we have not Skyped together, so I can't comment on how it looks from the other end. Easy setup, works every time, and no crazy hoops to jump through to get the video/audio to work. Plug and play! Plus, with it's USB hook up, I can use it on any compute in the house!

We had used Skype on our laptop and were amazed at being able to see our daughter and son-in-law but when the baby came we knew we had to have something better. Now with the Logitech TV Cam HD the only thing better would be being there. We are so excited to see our new granddaughter growing up as it happens.The installation and setup is very simple with a short learning curve. There is sometimes a delay in the sound during a call but the picture and sound quality are really good. Worth the price.

Make sure you check out the compatibility link. I bought this thinking it would work on my brand new Panasonic ST50 plasma with Skype. Even though the advertising was misleading, I'm just as upset with Panasonic for making a Skype TV without a camera and making it so only a Panasonic camera will work. Now I'm stuck with a camera that I have to pay return-shipping for, and they might not except it back anyway because it was opened. Buy from the box stores where you can take almost anything back- opened or not.

Personally I did not care for this camera when combined with my compatible Panasonic TV. Quite simply the quality was terrible. I stream other video content on my TV but when talking to my brother in Japan, the video quality was just terrible. I realize this is more a function of the TV, not the camera, but since there's so few models it works with, and I am not about to go out and buy another TV to try it with, this is a big consideration.I also didn't like the wide screen view it uses at all. Great I guess if you have a big family, but my couch is at a distance that I end up being barely visible to the caller. I didn't see an easy way to zoom in or adjust the angle when I am sitting on the floor for instance.Overall, it just didn't give me any benefits over using Skype on my iMac or iPad or iPhone, etc. Really the only reason I guess you would get this is if you routinely want to make calls with a large number of people on one camera.

No arguments with either the picture or sound.But, unless you have a very small head, mounting it is a challenge - it's designed to hang over the top of your screen, which it does, but the screen isn't far enough away (unless you wear a 48" sleeve) to have anything but a frame-filling photo - move and you're off-camera. And the zoom isn't effective at normal screen distances.And the mount that flops so easily onto your monitor screen doesn't mount to much else - unless you've a bookcase or similar surface to put it on.The software is quick and easy to use, the unit integrated itself with Win7 with NO problems, and with Skype as well.A nice unit, great price (only in a print, black is more), delivered promptly ... but in my office, hard to place.

I've bought this camera after I have found this post on Twitter [...], made by Panasonic US, saying that:ST50 series works with Panny TYCC10W, TYCC20W, FreeTalk7181, Logitech V-U0022 skype cameras.Well, not true. I have TX-P50ST50E (European version of TC-P50ST50) and Skype mostly crashes with this camera, or it is unable to transmit videos. It actually worked few times, but the quality of the video stream was horrible, and it was lagging. The camera restarted few times during the call. So even if it would be working in 100% of cases, I would be still disappointed. Maybe the picture is nicer on 2011 models, listed as compatible on Panasonic web pages.When connected to a computer (both Mac and Win), it gives really nice picture. So the TV should be most probably blamed for the horribly quality of the video stream. Who to blame for the camera mostly not working is hard to say...

I purchased this originally at Best Buy, but I decided to return it once I found it on Amazon for $10 cheaper. The webcam works just like it should. Very clear video, and the included software is pretty neat to use. I mostly use it on Skype to make video calls, and the built-in mic and the video quality is superb.Side Note: People with laptops might not like how the camera mounts onto the monitor (of course you can set it on anything you want). The mount is not a clip or an actual mount. You can adjust the angle, but for the most part, you are just setting it on top of the monitor. It is very easy to knock off so I would only use it on a desktop.

After having an old Longitech for almost 2 years and finally it started malfunctioning, I decided to try this one. It is almost 100% better than the old one even when it was still new. Truly HD and does not need all lightening I had to put so that we can see each other. Truly amazing product and would definetly recommend this one to anybody else.Thanks guys.

This was super easy to install on my WiFi. You literraly plug in the HDMI cable to your TV and the power cord to the outlet. You use the remote to 'type' in your Skype ID.We tried it with my mother-in-law and she was on her lap top. There was only a minor delay here or there, but otherwise it was excellent.I highly recommend this for grandparents to communicate with grandkids who are not nearby.Logitech got this one right.

This camera is 100% compatible with UVC drivers in Linux. Works in Skype (Gentoo 64-bit with emul-x86 libraries + Skype). Can even record in 1280x960.All my co-workers noticed considerable quality difference with me vs others on Google+ hang out, with mine being the highest.

DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE OF PLUGGING IT IN BEFORE YOU PUT IN THE CD. It's a very tedious process involving me having to go to the site and download an updated driver, but if you have anything higher than Windows Vista, that might be necessary anyway.It works fine as long as I don't need to use it for a long time. But attempts to use it for an online, browser video chat ended in catastrophe. Shockwave crashed numerous times, even on non-chat sites. I had to restart my computer at least twice before I finally just gave up and shut it down. It takes pictures in low quality; I'd tinker with the settings, but I don't want my computer to crash again.

The Logitech Webcam C250 is a great cost effective choice for basic video chatting. Picture quality & sound quality is good. Though higher end webcams (like Logitech’s QuickCam Pro9000) have better picture quality, the Webcam C250 is very good when you consider the price. If you want high quality optics, go with a more expensive model (you get what you pay for). But for those who just want to “Skype” and save a little cash, the Webcam C250 does the job.

Setup was easy. The picture is nice and the system seems to work well, even internationally. That said there does not appear to be a way to block the camera when not in use so you do run the risks o being spied upon as stated in the article below.[...]Perhaps an alteration to the firmware that would actively require user input locally to activate the camera and automatic deactivation upon hang up. At a minimum I'd expect some public information regarding the steps taken to protect against being hacked.

It's not a high-def webcam but it does take in light very well, and always makes the pictures really great. I am pale, so it washes out my skin and looks good (hides blemishes, dark circles). Maybe not the best camera if you don't like looking washed out.It also seems to be pretty sensitive, so handle it carefully. My first one broke after a year because I dropped it several times.

This was so much smaller than I was expecting, but the fault is mine because I'm old and somewhat creaky with the technology. This camera works as advertised, and I'm still playing around with it. I look forward to making videos and annoying my friends and family.

The webcam was a great price for the value. We gave it as a gift. The only problem we ran into...not with the product but with the computer...is that the computer didn't come with a mic so we had to purchase that separately. Something for people to be aware of. Thanks again.

took some time to get it working but when I finally did, I was pleased. I only gave it 3 stars cause I had to hunt for the windows 7 drivers that were not available on the disc that came with the item.

Connected and set up in about 10 minutes would have been quicker but it took a couple of minutes to remember my Skype account password. Using on my 2010 Panasonic TCP50VT25 works great. If it had a remote for zoom and pan it would have gotten 5 stars. As it is you cannot access zoom or pan once you start a call. My TV is connected to high speed cable through a hub and router and people at the other end of video calls say the picture is excellent and free of breakups.

My wife and I have been using this cam for daily skype video calls for the last 2 weeks and it works great! For just a few more dollars compared to lower resolution models this is a great buy. Software is easy to use and install. My only gripe is that the model does not have a sidewards swivel, which makes is difficult to use when set up atop a monitor, thus the one star deduction. The cost to have this feature would have been negligible! Other than that, a great HD webcam!

Delivered ahead of schedule. Great service.This camera is excellent for the price. I was amazed at what it is capable of with the software installed on my computer. I thought I was just getting a simple, basic camera for chat. Made a video to send to my granddaughter the first night I had it because she was sick. She loved it!

This was the right price for the right functionality. Things can get pretty pricey as the webcams get higher resolutions and features, this is the perfect midrange item. Its not a cheapo low res nor is it an insane high-res device, its just right. Works for Skype and provides a great picture, or so I am told...hehe..

This Webcam has a grainy and poor quality picture. It has one year manufacturer warranty, since I didn't buy this junk from Logitech they will not do the warranty. bad customer service and bad product.

Product arrived promptly. Hooked it up to the computer and it worked. Computer automatically recognized it. I didn't have to do anything. There are probably features I could play with but for now it does what I need. The picture quality was great but I also have a good monitor.

My wife is from Italy and wanted to use Skype to communicate with old friends and family in Europe, unfortunately her computer did not come with a mike or camera. The Logitech C270 was easy to install and mount. The video and audio resolution are good. My experience with Logitech products over the years have generally been good, reasonable price and reliable products.

For $30, I can't complain too much, but there are just some features you shouldn't leave out. Auto-focus, for example. Or a manual focus ring. My old round eye-ball looking Logitech webcam (bought in 2003, I think) had a manual focus ring, and the image quality wasn't too different.This thing is definitely not 720p. It's more like 640x480, magnified by software.It works well enough over Skype, and the built-in mic, while unnecessary, is a nice touch.

This webcam stands true to the 720P claim. Image quality is extremely clear. It even has lighting correction which proves extremely helpful in the bad lighting of my room. I can be seen very clearly even with the lights off. It has other standard features, such as zoom and panning. Overall, I'm quite happy with the quality of this product.

Haven't used it yet, but my 18 month old son seems to love that it has interchangeable accent covers (red & blue)! If it's Logitech's standard, it should do fine..

very good webcam. the quality is excellent, as stated by all my friends. there is a catch; you need good internet or else it will be bad. mic is okay, but you need to speak up a bit in order to people to hear you. you may also want to consider moving it away from your speakers unless you have headphones, which is always a good idea.
